It was there at the weigh-in; it was there as the fighters began their march to the ring. Felix “Tito” Trinidad is one of the very few boxing superstars. In Hollywood, they would say that he has the “It Factor.” Fans lined up along the security gate with their cameras poised for a brief glimpse of boxing’s equivalent of a rock star. A quick check of the arena revealed about 80% in attendance stood as one, yelling their lungs out as he advanced to the squared circle.

Before today’s workout, Jab Judah didn’t try to evade questions in the fashion that he so ably slips punches. Before displaying his skills for the media, Jab took time to discuss his future, possible opponents, last week’s Corrales-Castillo barnburner, Saturday night’s fight between Felix Trinidad and Winky Wright, and his own bout with Cosme Rivera, with no punches pulled.

Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, LasVegas, NV (Friday May 6, 2005)–The atmosphere at last night’s BWAA annual dinner, the first ever to be held here in Vegas was a star-studded affair, comparable to The Academy Awards, complete with red carpet. The classy Jimmy Lennon was the Master of Ceremonies, working from a stage fashioned as a boxing ring, surrounded by ring ropes.
