Q&A Leon “Hurry up” Moore


Over the Christmas period Guyanese Super Bantamweight Leon Moore took time out of his busy schedule to talk to us. Moore is the current WBC CABOFE Bantamweight Champion and hopes that he’ll get his chance to become the sixth Guyanese World champion. Moore 29 has lost two of 23 with of his wins coming inside the distance marking him out as a dangerous puncher. Both his loses have come on the road and both were controversial. Firstly he lost a split decision in Colombia to former Flyweight world champion Irene Pacheco then he lost a majority decision Kyrgyzstan to Timor Shailezov. UFC 92 POST-FIGHT NEWS & NOTES


Both Rashad Evans and Frank Mir recorded upset victories to claim UFC championships, and Quinton Jackson avenged two knockout losses to Wanderlei Silva with a devastating first round knockout of his own. Mir wins interim belt to set up rematch with Lesnar ; Evans takes care of Griffin to win Light Heavy crown at UFC 92


Frank Mir vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
Mir defeated Nogueira at 1:54 of round 2 to win the UFC interim heavyweight championship. Mir dominated the fight by using his improved boxing skills to keep the fight standing. Mir knocked down Nogueira multiple times in the fight then allowed Nogueira to stand. Mir finally followed Nogueira to the mat after a knockdown to finish the fight from the ground and pound position.

2008 Holiday Season Boxing Wish List


At last, it’s the holiday season! 2008 was a pretty good year for the sport. Although Wednesday Night Fights and Solo Boxeo won’t be making it into 2009, there were a ton of great memories from this year that can help overshadow some of the downfalls. Israel Vazquez won another phenomenal fight with Rafael Marquez, Manny Pacquiao squeaked by Juan Manuel Marquez in a thriller, Bernard Hopkins once again defied father time in dominating undefeated unified champion Kelly Pavlik, and Antonio Margarito stopped Miguel Cotto in what probably will be the fight of the year.

Team Sauerland dismisses Holyfield protest / Valuev a worthy winner, according to European boxing experts


Team Sauerland will reconsider its plan to offer Evander Holyfield a rematch against WBA heavyweight champion Nikolai Valuev following Tommy Brooks´ outrageous remarks in the press. The coach of the 46-year-old boxing legend, who lost a close majority decision by the scores of 116-112, 115-114 and 114-114, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution: “I think it was just some home cooking for a promoter’s fighter. I think somebody was just greasing somebody’s palms.”
