Fernando “The Salisbury Sensation” Guerrero Headlines “Boxing’s Future Champions”
Salisbury, MD -This Friday undefeated middleweight prospect Fernando “The Salisbury Sensation” Guerrero (13-0, 11 KOs) will return to his hometown of Salisbury, Maryland, as a headliner. Guerrero, who has fought twice in Salisbury on the under card, will be making his main event debut. Even though he carried the previous two hometown fights in terms of ticket sales, becoming a main event attraction is, nevertheless, a step up in stature for a fighter just 13 fights and 18 months into his professional career. His opponent, Brian “The Assassin” Norman (17-8, 5 KOs), is also a significant step up in competition.
Manny Pacquiao-Ricky Hatton: With A Little Help From My Friends

The Manny Pacquiao-Ricky Hatton tussle has all the hallmarks of a mega-fight. Hatton is virtually his own sports franchise in England, while Manny Pacquiao was just named as one of “The World’s Most Influential People” by TIME Magazine. While Hatton’s hooligan’s plunk down hard earned pounds to fly to America and see their hero, some from the Philippians believe Pacquiao is “almost a god”, according to former Heavyweight Champion Lennox Lewis who wrote the TIME piece. This is an updated version of boxing’s immoveable object taking on the irresistible force.
The Boxing Gutter Has a Silver Lining
Sometimes viewing the schedule of boxing events the world over I am taken aback by what passes for a legitimate show in some places. Here are a couple of shows that I cannot believe were allowed to go forward.
THREE GREAT BOUTS UNDER THE RADAR

As the world awaits the May 2nd HBO PPV Manny Pacquiao-Ricky Hatton mega-fight showdown there are other important matches popping up on the schedule that are getting the media’s cold shoulder. With that in mind, I’d like to highlight three upcoming matches that are set in stone in my date book, on my Tivo or if they are blacked out I’ll pour a scotch, light up an Arturo Fuente Hemingway and await word on the results.

De La Rosa squeaks by Coleman

Salisbury, Maryland- The Showtime boxing series, ShoBox: The New Generation at its best is a stage for the best up-and-coming talent to showcase their skills in clashes that determine which fighters remain “blue chip” prospects and which get knocked back down to the club level circuit. The series does not always live up to this high mark of excellence, but last night it did.
