decision over Forbes
By Teddy Molina
Oscar De La Hoya tuned up
for a September rematch with Floyd Mayweather
Jr. with a solid workmanlike unaninmous decision
over Steve Forbes at The Home Depot Center Soccer
stadium in Carson, California.
De La Hoya fought more straight
up then he has in years as he bounced on his
toes and mixed in assortment of jabs that were
followed up with some hooks. Forbes for his
part fought well in spurts and had some difficulty
getting inside the longer De La Hoya.

the skills that make him the sports biggest
attraction and by the size of the crowd that
was in excess of 27,000, proves that The "Golden
Boy" is still that--GOLDEN.
De La Hoya did take a few
shots as he had some marks to prove it as he
had a cut on the bridge of his nose. Oscar landed
some nice shots in a flurry in round six that
opened up a cut along the right eye of Forbes
De La Hoya cruised down the
stretch and did not show any affects of being
tired as he has prone to have been in the last
few fights and won by scores of 120-108, 119-109
and 119-109 to raise his record to 39-5. Forbes,
of Portland, Oregon is 33-6.

him" said De La Hoya "I am a little
dissappointed. It goes to show you what kind
of fighter Forbes is."

feel sharp after going twelve hard rounds. I
am going after him because I know I can beat
