Penn stops Sherk to retain
UFC Lightweight crown

B.J. Penn defeated Sean Sherk
to retain the UFC lightweight championship
Penn defeated Sherk when the referee stopped
the fight between the third and fourth rounds.
Penn connected with an uppercut, a right cross,
then a knee to head to floor Sherk. Penn then
pounded on Sherk as the bell sounded to end
the third. Sherk had no way of continuing.
Wanderlei Silva defeated
Keith Jardine
The fast knockout came at :32 seconds of the
first round. Silva floored Jardine then quickly
finished him.
Goran Reljic defeated Wilson
Gouveia by TKO
The finish came at 3:15 of the second round.
Gouveia dominated the fight before the quick
finish for Reljic.
Lyota Machida defeated Tito
Ortiz by unanimous decision
ll three judges scored the
fight 30-27. Machida slowed down the pace of
the fight and Ortiz could never truly get started.
Machida floored Ortiz with a knee to the stomach
in the third, but Ortiz survived. Ortiz locked
in a triangle in the third but Machida somehow
escaped.
Thiago Silva defeated Antonio
Mendes by tapout due to strikes
Silva got the win at 2:24 of the first round
Rousimar Palhares defeated
Ivan Salaverry by submission
Palhares sunk in the armbar
at 2:36 of the first round.
Sokoudjou defeated Kazuhiro
Nakamura by referee stoppage
Sokoudjou got the win when the referee stopped
the fight between the first and second rounds.
Sokoudjou floored Nakamura at the end of the
first round, and the referee determined he could
not answer the bell for the second.
Rich Clementi defeated Terry
Etim by unanimous decision
Clementi grinded out the decision. All three
judges scored the fight 29-28.
Yoshyuki Yoshisda defeated
Jon Koppenhaver by referee stoppage
The finish was at :56 of the first round due
to an anaconda choke.
Dong Hyun Kim defeated Jason
Tam by TKO
Kim dominated the entire fight before finally
finishing off Tam early in third round.
Shane Carwin defeats Christian
Wellisch by KO
The end came at 44 seconds of the first round.
Carwin connected with right hand for the quick
finish.
