Caguas, P.R. – After a dispute broke out between WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto ( 33-1-0 27 Kos) and his uncle and now former trainer Evangelista Cotto last Wednesday, the Puerto Rican champion is on the look out for a new trainer. Different versions of the incident have been reported by different witnesses but the now former team has been reluctant to say much.
As of the time of this report, no charges have been pressed against either one but district attorneys have stated that they will continue the investigation about the incident that left Evangelista hurt on his face and Miguel’s property being damaged.
Cotto is stated to defend his belt against IBF welterweight champion Joshua Clottey (35-2-0 20KO’s) of Ghana at the MSG in New York on June 13. Miguel Diaz has been mentioned as a possibility to take over the training camp for the upcoming bout.
