As chief support to Zsolt Erdei’s attempt to become a 2 weight world champion when he challenge’s Italy’s Giacobbe Fragomeni at Cruiserweight on 21 November in Kiel. Mexican Humberto Mauro Gutierrez 26-1-1(19) will attempt to make the first defence of the Interim WBC Super Featherweight title against Vitali Tajbert 18-1(6)
Like many Mexican’s Gutierrez bust onto the scene from relative obscurity when he beat reigning European champion Sergey Gulaykevich in August on a majority decision. Twenty year old power punching southpaw Gutierrez will be making his first foray outside of Mexico against Tajbert.
Tajbert 27, is more experienced having culminated his amateur career with a bronze at the 2004 Olympics. In the pro’s he’s shown impressive boxing skills to make up for his lack of power. Interestingly his sole loss to date is against Gulaykevich who beat him on points late last year in Germany.
It is believed that the WBC Super Featherweight champion Humberto Soto will relinquish his crown and move up to Lightweight meaning the winner will be the sole wearer of the green and gold WBC belt
