Geir Inge Jorgensen from Norway pulled out of his IBO Intercontinental welterwieght Championship bout against Rico Muller scheduled for this Saturday (August 3rd) in Eberswalde, Germany. It is already the second time that the Norwegian cancels a fight against Muller on short notice. Luckily, Muller’s management was prepared this time and has an equally strong opponent for the 25-year-old German i/c champ to replace Jorgensen.

Muller (14-1-1, 10 KOs) will now take on Ramadhani Shauri (16-2, 9 KOs) from Tanzania. „It’s never easy to adjust to last minute changes but I am so fired up that I’m sure that I will get it done“, says Muller. „It feels great to fight in my hometown Eberswalde in front of my family and fans and I will not disappoint them. I’m sure that Shauri is coming to Germany to take the belt from me but I won’t let that happen.“
Shauri’s management had originally reached out to Muller to challenge the IBO interconti champ but was told to wait for his shot. Now that Jorgensen pulled out the chance for the 20-year-old African came faster than expected.
Shauri will arrive in Germany tomorrow (Friday, August 2nd) for the official weigh-in. The show on Saturday will be „Open Air“ at Familiengarten Eberwalde and starts at 17.00h / 5pm local time. There will be nine fights in total including three title bouts. Jennifer Retzke from Berlin is trying to win her second world championship when she is taking on Florence Muthoni from Kenya for the IBO world welterweight championship. Robert Maess and Issa El Sleiman will fight for the German (GBA) welterweight title. And of course, Muller is set to defend his IBO i/c crown against Shauri.
Tickets are still available starting at 20,- Euros. The show will be broadcasted live on www.boxen-heute.tv.
