Julio Wins Impressively While Greene Wins Foul Fest

HOLLYWOOD, FL-Warriors Boxing brought us another exciting card on Wednesday Night Fights titled “Heavy Hitters” as the main event lived up to its billing as one of the heavier hitters in boxing “The Love Child” Joel Julio floored Jose Varela five times as he failed come out of his corner for the seventh round. Julio dominated throughout, landing pinpoint right hands and hard left hooks as the former prospect of the year now awaits a title shot in the very deep junior middleweight division. Julio moved to 34-1 (31KO’S) while Varela falls to 23-4.

In a foul filled fight “Mean” Joe Greene won a one sided unanimous decision to retain his NABA Super Welterweight Title over Jose Torres. The southpaw Greene dictated the first three rounds with his jab, it wasn’t until the fourth that Torres came out quickly exchanging with Greene. “Mean Joe” dropped Torres in the fifth with a left and then the slop fest started. Two points were deducted from Torres for pushing Greene to the canvas while the rest of the fight included slipping, thumbing in the eyes, low blows and hitting behind the head. The actual effective clean punches that were landed were landed by Greene. The official scores were 119-106 and 118-107 twice for Greene. Torres is the brother of former junior welterweight champion Ricardo Torres.

In a Junior Lightweight bout undefeated prospect Jeremy Bryan raises his record to 5-0 after battering Chris Hill (4-17-2) en route to a four round unanimous decision. The official scores were 40-36 twice and 40-35.

Lightweight Thomas Dulorme, by way of Puerto Rico won his pro debut by a four round majority decision over the rugged David Rodriguez (1-3) by the scores of 39-36, 39-37 and 38-38.

Welterweight prospect Kenny Galarza made short work of Devarise Crayton at 2:57 of the second round. Galarza keeps his unbeaten record and knockout streak in tact at 7-0 (7KO’S) while Crayton falls to 4-5.

In Junior Welterweight action, Jesus Pabon( 13-1, 8KO’S) took a six round unanimous decision over Bulmaro Solis(11-2) by the scores, 59-54 and 58-55 twice.

Featherweights Kato Ferguson and Vineash Rungea battled to a four round draw.

In attendance: Glen Johnson, Juan Urango, David Estrada, Dyah Davis, Randall Bailey, James McGirt Jr. and Harold Lederman.
