McEwan Outclasses Vera on ESPN

Hailing from Edinburgh, Scotland ,Craig McEwan stepped into the ring at Sundance Square in downtown Ft. Worth, Texas with very little fan base cheering him on last night but had future hall of fame coach Freddie Roach in his corner to guide him through the 10 round against hometown challenger Brian Vera. McEwan took control of the fight in the first round as he out punched the shorter Vera who couldn’t seem to find a comfortable distance early in the bout. Vera landed a few flush shot late in the second and third rounds on McEwan and even managed to somehow open up a cut on his opponent’s right eye but it was McEwan’s onslaught of combinations that were doing the damage in this fight. McEwan took an early lead and didn’t look back as he used his reach and footwork to counter off Vera’s lunging punches and land some thudding blows and vicious combinations and would punish Brian for the majority of the fight. Vera would make a little rally in the 7th and 10th rounds but just couldn’t find a way to break his opponent. The very active McEwan would take a unanimous decision over a tough Vera with all three judges scoring it 97-93 for McEwan.

Local prospect Charles Hatley put on a show stopping performance as he TKO’d his 3-3 opponent Carlos Garcia at :55 sec of the first round. Though the fans were not able to see much of Charles abilities, they did witness his undeniable capabilities.

Undefeated talent Carlos Velasquez was also able to give the fans a 1st round TKO of Andres Ledesma of Miami Fl. Carlos used his quick hands and boxing ability to pummel his 15-13 opponent in the first round and forcing the referee to stop the fight a 2:59 of round 1. Carlos Velasquez is definitely someone you want to keep your eyes on as he moves up in the rankings.
