Q & A Manuel “Diamond Boy” Charr

This Saturday in Rostock, Germany Heavyweight prospect Manuel “Diamond Boy” Charr 12-0(6) steps up in class when he takes on battle hardened Sherman Williams 34-10-2(19). Charr will hope to celebrate his 25 birthday which also happens to be on Saturday with a win which will likely be considered his best to date. He holds a win over Gbenga Okoukan who was unbeaten until Charr stopped him in the seventh. Since then Okoukan has rebounded to beat Lamon Brewster which makes Charr’s victory all the more impressive. Charr was born in Lebanon but moved to Germany when he was 5. Now fighting out of his adopted homeland he homes to create mayhem in the Heavyweight division. With the current state of things he’s a welcome addition
Hello Manuel, welcome to 15rounds.com
Anson Wainwright - Firstly your next in action on Saturday when you fight Sherman Williams. What do you know about him?
Manuel Charr - He’s an experienced fighter, he did a lot more fights than me. But I am not so interested in opponents, I have to beat them all. I need to win!
Anson Wainwright - If you beat Williams do you intend to use that as a spring board to fighting some of the big names at Heavyweight?
Manuel Charr - I’ll fight everybody. Names and records are not interesting at all. I wanna be going up and so, once again - I have to beat them all!!!
Anson Wainwright - Can you tell us a little about your fighting style? What are your strengths & what do you hope to improve on?
Manuel Charr - I have a great heart for fighting, my strength is my will. My heart is like an Arabian horse!
Anson Wainwright - Who is part of your team, your manager, trainer and promoter etc?
Manuel Charr - I am trained by the well known coach Fritz Sdunek and my promoter is the chief of spotlight boxing Dietmar Poszwa.
Anson Wainwright - You stopped Gbenga Oloukan in April that win looks even better now since he beat Lamon Brewster. Is that how you see it too? What can you tell us about that fight?
Manuel Charr - I was in Oloukuns corner to push him, we’re friends. So he did great - a super fight!
Anson Wainwright - Did you fight in the amateur’s? Did you win any titles?
Manuel Charr - I had only 11 fights with 10 wins and so I was only once champion of Westfalia in Germany.
Anson Wainwright - Your from The Lebanon which isn’t know for it’s Boxing. How did you get into Boxing?
Manuel Charr - I was born in Lebanon in the time of the civil war, so at the age of 5 my family escaped to Germany. My nationality now is Syrian. My life was all time a fight. So I am still fighting for me and my family!
Anson Wainwright - How does living in Germany compare to back in Lebanon?
Manuel Charr - I grew up in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, so I know only this country. It’s now a part of my heart and on one hand my homeland.
Anson Wainwright - What do you like to do away from Boxing?
Manuel Charr - I like to travel, doing trips with my friends, but there isn’t so much time in this part of my career.
Anson Wainwright - Finally do you have a message for Sherman Williams ahead of your fight?
Manuel Charr - After this fight he’ll stop boxing, I’ll send him in to retirement.
Best Wishes Manuel
