San Juan, P.R.- Dominican civil war will be waged tomorrow night when Daniel “Azuquita” Jiménez (129.6 lbs) faces off against fellow Dominican Marcos “El Tigre” Jiménez (128 lb) for the vacant WBA Fedecentro super featherweight title. Azuquita (18-3-1 10KO’s) rebounded with a decision win against Shamir Reyes after suffering consecutive losses against now WBO super featherweight champion Román “Rocky” Martínez and a decision loss to Mexican Jesús “El Matador” Chávez. El Tigre (The Tiger) suffered his only loss against Edel “Cuate” Ruiz of Mexico, a loss which was later avenged via 6th round split decision.
Both fighters looked fit as they weighed in today prior to tomorrow’s 12 round bout. The card is set to take place at the Pedrín Zorrila Coliseum with the first bout set to start at 6:30pm. In attendance were supporters for both fighters and a good attendance is expected tomorrow evening.
Former Puerto Rican Olympian Carlos Negrón (3-0 3KO’s) weighed in at 182 lbs for his bout against Geovante Davis (3-3-1 2KO’s) of Gulfport, Mississippi who weighed in at 181 lbs but didn’t seem as fit as his opponent.
