San Juan, P.R.- All headliners for tomorrow’s “Undefeated Champions” made their required weights on their first tries and local fighters raised cheers from the crowd watching them.
Iván “Iron Boy” Calderón has to ward off Rodel Mayol after the Filipino took the second o from Calderon’s record last June. The draw was the first non-victory in Calderón’s thirty three fight, eight year professional career which includes titles at two divisions with eleven consecutive defenses of the WBO minimumweight title(Edgar Cardenas failed to make weight and the eleventh round KO for Calderón was not credited as a title defense).
Hard hitting Román Martínez will now face Feider Viloria after Vicente Martín Rodríguez (25-2-1, 13KO’s) was unable to get to Puerto Rico on time. Viloria has lost two of his last three (TKO by 5 Oscar Larios, UD loss to Jorge Lacierva and UD win against Renan Acosta). Having not seen almost anything of Martín Rodríguez, the change in opponent shouldn’t be an issue.
