The Gym in Arlington, TX hosted their second Xtreme Knockout MMA event with over six hundred fans crowding the facility. MMA great Guy Metzger and former boxing world champ Paulie Ayala were in attendance to watch this true blood sport take place. With only 2 of the scheduled 7 matches going the distance the spectators had their share of knockouts all night.
Main event contestant Liam McCarty(9-5) showed his grappling skills to his hometown crowd as he was able to stop his veteran opponent Brandon McDowell (40-22) with a time of 3:24 in round number one. Both men seemed to want to have the fight on the ground as they wrestled most of the short bout on the mat before Liam, the more composed of the two fighters, saw an opening from his opponent and wasted no time to execute an arm bar forcing Brandon to tap.
The co-main event action was stopped quickly as 2-0 Douglas Frey of Arlington forced the referee to stop the fight at 1:44 on the first round against 1-0 Mike Rodriguez. Douglas was able to work his ground and pound after a quick takedown from his opponent Mike which led them both to the canvas with Douglas in top mount. After taking several blows to the face from his lean and aggressive opponent, Mike turned to his back, with blood gushing from his nose and mouth, leaving the referee with no choice but to stop the on slaut of punches from Douglas.
My fighter of the night went to Chris White 1-0 of Dallas, TX. He put on a strong performance as he faced fan favorite Moises Diaz of Arlington, Tx who was making his professional debut in his hometown. Chris grabbed control of the fight from the first second of the match down to the last bell as he was able to beat his opponent both in the stand up and grappling match on the floor. The determined White was relentless as he refused to allow Diaz to win any second on the three round fight, which resulted in a unanimous decision victory for Chris White.
