Toronto – Just two days removed from a live broadcast of Victor Ortiz vs. Luis Collazo from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, Fight Network, the world’s premier 24/7 television channel dedicated to complete coverage of combat sports, presents another blockbuster live boxing card this Saturday, Feb. 1, at 12 p.m. ET from Salle des Etoiles in Monte Carlo, Monaco, headlined by undefeated WBA and IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin making the first defense of 2014 against former title challenger Osumanu Adama.
Presented by Fight Network, Octapixx Live, K2 Promotions, Golden Gloves and GGG Promotions, Golovkin vs. Adama headlines the event titled, “Monte Carlo Night of Champions.”
Golovkin (28-0, 25 KOs) is USA Today and Ring Magazine’s fan favorite 2013 fighter of the year. Boasting the highest KO percentage among active major titleholders, Golovkin fought four times last year, destroying Gabriel Rosado, Nobuhiro Ishida, Matthew Macklin and Curtis Stevens.
Adama (22-3, 16 KOs) has never been stopped in professional competition. The Ghana native last challenged for the title in March 2012, dropping a hard-fought decision against former IBF champion Daniel Geale.
In other action, Australia’s Jarrod Fletcher (17-1, 10 KOs) battles Max Bursak (29-1-1, 12 KOs) for the WBA Continental middleweight title, Roman Belaev (12-0, 10 KOs) clashes with Dean Byrne (17-2-1, 6 KOs) for the vacant WBA Continental welterweight title, South Africa’s Nkosinathi Joyi (24-2, 17 KOs) throws down with Rey Loreto (17-13, 9 KOs) for the vacant IBO light flyweight championship, plus Joyi’s compatriot Ilunga Makabu (15-1, 14 KOs) faces his toughest test against unbeaten Argentinian knockout artist Ruben Angel Mino (20-0, 20 KOs).
Fight Network’s live afternoon broadcast from Monaco kicks off at 12 p.m. ET and is expected to run approximately four hours.
