Las Vegas, NV (August 4, 2017) – Bryan Vasquez will face Ray Beltran on Saturday, August 5th at he Microsoft Theater.
The former featherweight phenom turned instant lightweight top contender Bryan Vasquez (35-2) has an undeniably extensive resume. Bryan has been involved in 9 title fights and maintains an impressive 7-2 record in such affairs.
Vasquez vanquished Jose Gutierrez (11-2-2) just under a decade ago to capture his first WBA Featherweight Title. Then he won 10 straight before acquiring the WBA Super Featherweight strap. Bryan battered Santos Martinez (21-9-3) in that contest via lopsided decision.
A trend was setting for Vasquez when just four months removed from winning his last belt, he would add to his collection. Another blowout decision over a formidable opponent in Alan Herrera (25-2) lead to more gold and a World Title opportunity.
Bryan was almost perfect in his toughest test, losing only a round to Santos Benavides (23-2-2) and won the WBA World Super Featherweight Title. Vasquez would successfully defend the strap by way of 9th round TKO over Jorge Lacierva (41-8-6). It wasn’t until a trip to Japan and his 30th fight that Bryan would taste defeat.
Vasquez would rebound emphatically and recapture the WBA World Super Featherweight title in a technical decision win against Rene Gonzalez (31-5-1). Then Bryan would defend his strap twice, via decision against Jose Felix Jr. (27-0-1) then by way of TKO in the 9th against Sergio Thompson (30-3).
Now Vasquez will move up to challenge for the WBO-NABO Lightweight and NABF Lightweight Title this Saturday Night at The Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California. He will take on Raymundo Beltran (33-7-1) who is riding a 4 fight KO streak that is resurrecting his career. Beltran has beaten Ivan Najera (16-2) in the 2nd, Miguel Mendoza (23-8-2) in the 5th, Mason Menard (32-1) in the 7th and Jonathan Maicelo (25-2) in the 2nd.
Can Bryan put the breaks on the surging Beltran and add to his collection of championships?
