Granados Sparring with WBA Champ Broner in Preparation for December 6 Return at Chicago’s UIC Pavilion

In preparation for his next thrill-a-minute ring appearance, all-action junior welterweight contender Adrian “El Tigre” Granados is in Cincinnati, sparring with WBA World Welterweight Champion Adrien Broner.

Granados will be back on Friday, December 6, at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago on the undercard of Ulrich Knockout Promotions, Warriors Boxing and 8 Count Promotions’ world-class professional boxing event entitled “World Championship Boxing: Wlodarczyk vs. Fragomeni 3”.

Granados says he’s enjoying the fresh perspective he’s getting from training with Broner at The Punch House in Cincinnati, who is himself preparing for a fight against Marcos Maidana on December 14.

“It’s going great and I’m very happy to be here. I’m learning to deal with a different style and learning a different way of training. They do a lot of nonstop stuff. For instance, whenever we’re going to spar four rounds, we go 12 minutes straight. That’s pretty cool. It’s a marathon. All in all, just being in the ring with a world champion is a great learning experience.”

Tickets for “World Championship Boxing: Wlodarczyk vs. Fragomeni 3” are priced at VIP $201, VIP Ringside $151, Ringside $101, Box Mezzanine $76, Reserved Mezzanine $51, and General Admission $31 and can be purchased through Ticketmaster (Ticketmaster.com, 1-800-745-3000), the 8 Count Productions Offices: 312-226-5800 or the UIC Pavilion Box Office: 312-413-5740.

24-year-old Granados was last seen in August on Friday Night Fights in a heart-stopping knockdown fest against Mark Salser, which he eventually won by TKO 6.

“I’m definitely holding my own in every sparring session,” continued Granados. “I’ve worked with other world champs, David Diaz, Devon Alexander and Juan Manuel Marquez and I’ve held my own with each one of them. I feel I belong here.”

Granados’ opponent will be announced shortly.

In the night’s 12-round main event, WBC Cruiserweight Champion Krzysztof “Diablo” Wlodarczyk (48-2-1, 34 KOs) of Warsaw, Poland, will attempt to make the sixth defense of his title and complete an epic trilogy of fights with Milan, Italy’s former WBC Cruiserweight Champion Giacobbe “Gabibbo” Fragomeni (31-3-2, 12 KOs).

BOSTON’S FAVORITE, DANNY “BHOY” O’CONNOR IN ACTION SATURDAY NIGHT IN PHILADELPHIA

Philadelphia, PA (10/10/13) – On Saturday night, the pride of Framingham, MA, Danny “Bhoy” O’Connor (23-1, 7KO’s) will return to action for the third time in less than three months when he takes on former world champion “Vicious” Vivian Harris (30-9-2, 19KO’s) in the 10-round welterweight main event bout at Electric Factory in Philadelphia, PA.

The event will also feature a live performance by the world-renowned and extremely popular Dropkick Murphys, whose leader singer Ken Casey, is the manager of O’Connor. Both main event fighters will weigh in tomorrow afternoon, with the weigh-in being shown that evening during the halftime of the Philadelphia Flyers and Phoenix Coyotes NHL game.

“Once again Danny is doing great things for this charity,” said Casey, who is promoting the event on Saturday night in association with his foundation, The Claddagh Fund. “I am super excited to see him as the main attraction for the first time outside of New England. Philadelphia has taken to Danny like he is one of their own and we are really looking forward to this great event on Saturday night.”

“I’m very excited to box in Philadelphia, as it’s such a great city with so much sports history. It’s always a pleasure for me to be a part of any Claddagh Fund charity event. After an amazing training camp, I’m physically and mentally ready, in the words of Jonny Gomes from the Sox, ‘I’m time-tested, battle-tested, it’s time to put my hard hat on and go to work,'” said O’Connor.

“Danny’s taking on a real veteran in Vivian Harris and we’re looking forward to a great performance,” said Lou DiBella. “We’re pleased that Danny is fighting on a card that benefits the Claddaugh Fund and we thank Ken Casey and the Dropkick Murphys for all their help.”

The two-time national amateur champion and 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Alternate O’Connor has had a busy 2013 thus far. The bout on Saturday will be his fifth of this year and third in less than three months. O’Connor, now campaigning at welterweight, is looking to propel himself into the world ratings in the loaded 147lb. division in 2014, but he must first get by the former WBA light welterweight world champion Harris.

The event is being promoted by Dropkick Murphys, The Claddagh Fund, DiBella Entertainment and Green Blood Boxing, in association with Guardian Restoration and A-Plus Public Adjusters.

CURTIS STEVENS MEDIA WORKOUT QUOTES PINTABONE’S BOXING GYM IN EASTON, PA

Curtis Stevens
Brooklyn’s Curtis Stevens took the time to discuss his upcoming Nov. 2nd showdown with WBA/IBO Middleweight Champion Gennady Golovkin, on Wednesday. Formerly the training base of legendary World Heavyweight Champion Larry Holmes, Pintabone’s Boxing Gym serves as the host for Stevens’ training camp, as he prepares to challenge the dangerous Golovkin at The Theater at Madison Square Garden. The ever loquacious challenger exuded confidence as he broke it all down for press. The fight will be televised live by HBO.

Does his power concern you? “The question is does my power concern him?”

If you hit Golovkin and he doesn’t go down, what are you going to do? “Hit his ass some more!”

Abel Sanchez says Golovkin has a good chin. It seemed like you were doing work to the body today and he hasn’t really been tested to the body. Is that part of your focus? “We are focusing on everything – head, body. You gotta break the body down, then the head will come. (We’re working on) different things, plan A, plan B, plan C. It’s not going in with just one game plan. It’s not just one thing. It’s a different variety of plans.”

It seems like Gennady respects you, but his trainer doesn’t. How do you feel about his trainer not respecting you? “His trainer I believe is trying to keep Gennady focused on what he’s doing. I believe he’s trying to keep him level minded. Gennady is giving me respect, I believe he has some type of fear of me. I think Abel was trying to say different things to balance it out… It covers the middle. It’s not a good thing. It’s not a bad thing. I just gotta prove Abel wrong and Gennady right.”

Obviously Gennady has the length advantage on you. How are you going to overcome that? “Romero Johnson had the length; Ayala had the length; Roman had the length; Jose Spearman had the length. This is how it’s been all along. I’ve always been the shorter guy. To me it really doesn’t matter. I believe I have a little more reach than him. It’s my power. I know I’m much more strong than him. So all that stuff really don’t matter.”

Curtis Stevens and Gary Stark

What is the plan for this fight? “I’m going in there to relax and I’m going in there to have fun. I’m going in there to do what I do. The question is, will he come out and fight me just as much as he do the other fighters, you know, when I come towards him? He may bounce around the ring, he may shadowbox . I’ve seen him fight. I gotta see what he comes out with. I’m not gonna change my game plan. I’ll box just as much as I can pressure you. I’m coming in there ready to win.”

Is it going to be Curtis Stevens the puncher or Curtis Stevens the boxer? “I don’t know. I may mix it up. I may get on his toes, I may razzle and dazzle his ass, cut him up. Or I may just go in there and take it to him, move a lot, just beat him down. But it all depends on him you know? I don’t know, he may come in there and want to fight. He may want to come in there and box. Because he knows I have power, he may be leery of that in his mind. Abel says he’s gonna knock me out. I don’t know if Abel is just hyping him up or hyping just to talk in general. But Gennady only fights one way – it’s come forward. I believe he’s going to come meet me in the center of the ring. And if he does, it should be an early night.”

Is Golovkin the animal or monster people say he is? “No…I’m not sold. So on Nov 2 I’m just going to put him back on the shelf!”

“On November you can expect fireworks. I don’t know if it’s going to be the first, the twelfth or somewhere in between, but there are sure going to be fireworks. I’m coming to win!”

Any Final Words? “I feel great, strong as ever. I’m moving faster, I’m quicker than I expected. I’m just ready. I’m just ready to go in there and destroy him.”

Juan Diaz signs with Top Rank

Juan Diaz
Former Lightweight champion Juan Diaz has signed a promotional deal with Top Rank according to Dan Rafael.

Diaz is scheduled to fight Juan Santiago on October 19th as part of the Mike Alvarado – Ruslan Provodnikov undercard in Broomfield, Colorado.

Diaz told ESPN.com that he signed an 18-month, six-fight deal with Top Rank, mainly because of his close relationship with company vice president Carl Moretti, who had worked with Diaz during the early part of his career when they were both with Main Events.

“I’ve known Carl for a long time, since the Main Events days [in the early 2000s], and it kind of made it easier for me to have more trust in Top Rank since I dealt with Carl before,” Diaz told ESPN.com. “I generally think the conversations I’ve had with Carl are genuine, and I believe he and Top Rank want the best for my career, so we signed the deal and I’m looking forward to being with them.”

“Juan and his team are great people to work with, and together we have a strategy that will bring Juan to the top of the [lightweight] division once again,” Moretti said. “Juan Diaz is still one of the most recognizable names to all boxing fans because of his fan-friendly style and the positive manner in which he carries himself in and out of the ring.

“What’s there not to like about him and the excitement he creates? For Top Rank, this was no-brainer to be involved with Juan and his career.”

“They’re just waiting to see what guys are available for me to challenge,” Diaz said. “Top Rank already promised me a title shot next year. Whether it be the summer or the end of next year, I know I’ll get that title shot, which put the exclamation point on everything, so I said, ‘Let’s do it,’ and I signed.

“I’m a realist. I know that I have a good name in boxing, but I’m not Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather. I can’t be a free agent for the rest of my fighting career. I knew I’d have to settle down with one promoter and let them help me in my road to becoming a champion again.”

HBO hit series ‘On Freddie Roach’ to be screened on BoxNation this weekend

Pacquiao_LAX_arrival_120505_004a
LONDON (9 Oct) – HBO’s hit ‘On Freddie Roach’ series will make its UK bow this weekend with all six episodes to be screened back-to-back on BoxNation (Sky Ch. 437/Virgin Ch. 546).

The innovative reality series, directed by renowned filmmaker Peter Berg, delves into the life of one of boxing’s most esteemed trainers, Freddie Roach, who owns and operates the famed Wildcard Boxing Club in Hollywood, California.

Recognised for producing and working with a long line of world champions, the intimate cinema vérité style series gives a raw and unscripted insight into the mindset and workings of one of the world’s leading coaches.

This intensely personal look captures Roach as he trains his fighters during their most critical stages, plays host to a continuous stream of celebrity visitors, finds time to sort through and balance his myriad of outside interests, and manages his new role with USA Boxing, all while fighting Parkinson’s disease, an ailment very likely linked to his own boxing past.

“We filmed for a whole year and it was a lot of fun doing it,“ said Roach. “I don’t hold back and it was truly me. Someone said to me after watching the series ‘I’ve never seen that dark side to you before’, and, I have a dark side and a bad temper and I get mad – I let them know that’s part of my life. That’s the great thing about the show they never asked me to do anything and you truly see my life – the fun parts, the bad parts, the sad parts,” he said.

Roach has been battling Parkinson’s disease since the age of just 29 but the Dedham born trainer, who has worked with the likes of Mike Tyson, Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan, has always been very forthright about his illness, something reflected in the series.

“I’m a very open person and if someone has a question about my Parkinson’s I have no problem ever giving them the truth and that’s one thing I really like about the show, everything in it is true. Parkinson’s is part of my life I didn’t just want to give them the good parts or just the parts I wanted them to see,” said Roach.

“It’s my life and gives people a look at what I go through every day. Sometimes it’s a struggle, but when you win big fights it brings a lot of happiness, that’s what makes me tick – winning fights,” said Roach.

Episodes 1, 2 and 3 will be screened back-to-back this Saturday 12 October from 9pm on BoxNation (Sky Ch. 437/Virgin Ch. 546), with episodes 4, 5 and 6 aired back-to-back the day after on Sunday 13 October at 9pm.

October 9, 2013 – Philadelphia’s undefeated heavyweight contender, Bryant Jennings (17-0, 9 KOs) has signed a co-promotional contract with Gary Shaw Productions and Antonio Leonard Promotions. Advised by manager James Prince, Jennings on the verge of fighting for a world title, is ranked IBF No. 3, WBO No. 14 and WBC No. 21.

Having fought stiff competition thus far in his career, Jennings is the type of battle tested warrior America is seeking to represent the heavyweight division on a global stage. With a powerful team behind him, Jennings feels he’s ready to take his career to the next level.

“I’m glad I’m finally moving forward in my career with a great team,” said Bryant Jennings. “Gary Shaw and Antonio Leonard are two great promoters who have been in this sport for many years and have promoted some of the biggest fights in boxing history. I’m ecstatic to be managed by James Prince because he’s guided the careers of many world champions and his knowledge as a boxing manager is impeccable. It’s truly a blessing to have these experienced gentlemen working on my behalf. I’m ready to take my career to the next level.”

Having promoted some of boxing’s greatest fighters, which include Mike Tyson, Diego Corrales, Shane Mosley, Winky Wright, Vernon Forrest and Lennox Lewis to name a few , Gary Shaw sees Bryant Jennings as the next heavyweight contender to conquer boxing most glorified division.

“First off I want to say I’m very thrilled to be working side by side with my good friends Antonio Leonard and James Prince,” Shaw said. “We’ve worked harmoniously together in the past when we had Corrales and it was an astonishing journey. Now we’ve come together again with an outstanding heavyweight in Bryant Jennings. From what I’ve seen, Jennings has the personality and talent to become a star in this sport. He’s a very kind young man who brings an exciting style to the heavyweight division. I’m very pleased to add Jennings to our rich history of great fighters here at GSP and I’m working hard with Antonio and James to get him in a big fight. He’ll be in the ring very soon.”

James Prince, Gary Shaw and Antonio Leonard made history when they worked together with Diego Corrales. Prince, who currently manages some of boxings best fighters, is eager to unite with Shaw and Leonard with the hopes of taking Jennings to the peak of the heavyweight division.

“I’m just excited to be working with Gary Shaw Productions and Antonio Leonard Promotions once again,” said James Prince. “It was beautiful ride we all had with the late Diego Corrales and once again I feel like I’m bringing them an outstanding fighter in American Bryant Jennings, who I believe is the best heavyweight in the world.”

Antonio Leonard has the same feelings as Prince when it comes to working with Gary Shaw.

“When Gary Shaw and I team up its like dynamite,” stated Antonio Leonard. “Whoever we work with is going to be the next superstar in boxing. With Diego Corrales we did amazing things together. I have great respect for Gary Shaw who I started out with, not just as a boxing promoter, but as a loyal friend. I know Bryant Jennings is in the hands of a great promoter with Shaw who cares about his fighters just like I do.

Antonio Leonard continued saying, “Jennings’ work ethic is unbelievable and he reminds me lot of Andre Ward. Bryant carries himself with great respect inside and outside of the ring. James Prince along with Gary and me will take this man to the top. I can promise you Jennings will leap to the top of the heavyweight division and will whip the Klitschko brothers. Bryant who hails from Philadelphia will make America proud!”

OLA AFOLABI ADDED TO NOVEMBER 2 CARD FACES POLAND’S LUKASZ JANIK AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN

NEW YORK CITY (October 9, 2013) Ola Afolabi will challenge Poland’s Lukasz Janik for the vacant International Boxing Organization’s Cruiserweight World Title on Saturday, NOVEMBER 2 in The Theater at Madison Square Garden, announced Tom Loeffler, Managing Director of K2 Promotions.

The Afolabi/Janik 12-round clash will be part of MONSTERS COLLIDE, the Middleweight World Title Clash between boxing’s fastest rising star, WBA/IBO Champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin and world ranked contender Curtis Stevens.

Presented by K2 Promotions in association with Main Events, GGG Promotions and Madison Square Garden, tickets for MONSTERS COLLIDE, priced at $300, $200, $100 and $50 are on sale at the Madison Square Garden Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, Ticketmaster charge by phone (866-858-0008) and online at www.ticketmaster.com and www.thegarden.com

“We’re very excited to add this compelling cruiserweight clash to an already sensational event,” said Loeffler. “Ola has proven to be one of the top cruiserweights in the world and is thrilled to be fighting in New York City for the first time.”

Over the last four years the London born, Los Angeles based Afolabi, 19-3-4 (9KO’s) has battled in three classic wars with current cruiserweight world champion Marco Huck, most recently on JUNE 8 of this year. In spite of having no amateur bouts, Afolabi has demonstrated the ability to compete at the highest levels of the sport.

“Ola has the draw and a majority decision loss to Huck in his last two fights, but always expressed interest in facing any of the top cruiserweights. This is a great matchup as Janik hasn’t lost in four years and has defeated many of the top fighters in Europe,” continued Loeffler.

“It seems like my whole career has been defined by my fights with Marco Huck” said Afolabi. “I’m happy to move on and very excited to be fighting in the United States and at Madison Square Garden in particular. I watched a lot of fights when I was growing up on TV from there and always thought ‘one day I will fight there.’”

About his future plans, Afolabi stated, “First I have to take care of business on November 2 against Janik and win the IBO title. After that I’m ready for any of the top names at cruiserweight. It’s a hot division right now with a number of great fighters.”

The 27-year-old Janik has compiled a record of 26-1-0 (14KO’s), over his six-year career.

Fighting out of Jelenia Gora, Poland, Janik has won eleven fights in a row and this will be his third start of 2013.

Also featured at MONSTERS COLLIDE is an outstanding heavyweight battle between Cuban born Mike “The Rebel” Perez, 19-0-0 (12KO’s), now living in Ireland and Russia’s Magomed “Mago” Abdusalamov, 18-0-0 (18KO’s), for the WBC USNBC Heavyweight Title

The Golovkin/Stevens and Perez/Abdusalamov bouts will be televised Live on HBO®, beginning at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.

The Perez/Abdusalamov bout is presented in association with Sampson Boxing, LLC.

BoxNation only place to watch Carl Frampton’s world title bid as fight heads for a sell out

LONDON (9 Oct) – BoxNation will be the only place to watch Carl Frampton’s IBF world title eliminator, with the Odyssey Arena in Belfast set for a sell out.

The Irish super-bantamweight will take what would be his final step before a world title fight if he can get past slick Frenchman Jeremy Parodi on Saturday 19th October.

Tickets for the contest have been in huge demand with the initial arena seating sold out. As a result, Cyclone Promotions have been forced to open up additional seating, with the extra tickets set to be snapped up, making the fight the biggest the Odyssey Arena in Belfast has ever seen.

Carl Frampton said: “October 19th is a huge night for me and my team. I can’t wait to box in front of my home fans in a sell out arena.”

The hotly anticipated fight will see Frampton, who is managed by boxing legend, Barry McGuigan, and trained by his son Shane, take on the IBF world number four Parodi. If successful, Frampton will put himself in pole position for a shot at the world title early next year.

Barry McGuigan said: “It is unimaginable the feeling a fighter has boxing in front of a sell out home crowd. Carl’s punches, speed & accuracy will no doubt secure a Belfast victory for us. He’s in the best shape of his life and has been training hard with Shane over the past months.”

Watch Frampton vs. Parodi live and exclusive on BoxNation (Sky Ch. 437/Virgin Ch. 546) from 7pm on Saturday 19th October. Subscribe online at: www.boxnation.com.

MIDDLEWEIGHT KINGPIN SERGIO “MARAVILLA” MARTINEZ TO MEET POPE FRANCIS IN UNPRECEDENTED PRIVATE ONE-ON-ONE SITDOWN AT THE VATICAN

Sergio_Martinez
New York, NY(10/8/2013) – Next Wednesday, Middleweight Champion and pound-for-pounder Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez will have the opportunity of a lifetime when he sits down one-on-one with Pope Francis. The meeting between the two Argentineans will take place at the Vatican, and will mark the first time a professional fighter has had a one-on-one closed session meeting with the Pope since Muhammad Ali.

Martinez, who intends to speak about his anti-bullying and domestic violence against women campaigns, is absolutely ecstatic about the meeting.

“In the past couple of months, I will have had two of my dreams as a Catholic come true, to visit the Basilica of our Lady Guadalupe in Mexico and to be received by the Pope. I will be asking the Pope for blessings and spiritual protection to all of those who enter the ring,” said Martinez.

“In his short time as leader of the Catholic Church, this gentle Pope from Argentina has already changed the dialogue of his people. I am thrilled that Sergio will have a private audience with Pope Francis and that he will be able to discuss his campaigns against bullying and domestic violence,” said promoter Lou DiBella.

“Sergio Martinez continues to make history in our sport by having this historic meeting with Pope Francis. I’m very happy for Sergio, because as the great champion and great person that he is, he has earned this tremendous opportunity and honor of having this meeting,” said longtime advisor Sampson Lewkowicz.

“Sergio’s passion to help out people in need and who are down on their luck has truly exemplified the fact that you do not need to act brash or lack any tact in order for people to respect you in the boxing world. He is a great role model for young athletes around the world,” added Nathan Lewkowicz, V.P. of Sampson Boxing.

Sergio will be accompanied to the meeting by longtime business manager Miguel De Pablos and Victor Gonzales, who was instrumental in the organization and staging of Martinez’s last middleweight title defense in front of 50,000+ adoring Argentineans earlier this year. Sergio will be presenting the Pope with a special edition WBC green belt, with a picture of Pope Francis as well as the flag of the Vatican.

Peter ‘Kid Chocolate’ Quillin Elevating to another level

Peter Quillin
NEW YORK (October 8, 2013) – Much has changed in the life of undefeated World Boxing Organization (WBO) middleweight champion Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin (29-0, 21 KOs) since his last fight on April 27, when Quillin dropped challenger Fernando Guerrero four times en route to an impressive victory by seventh-round technical knockout.

Quillin will make his second world title defense Oct. 26 against challenger Gabriel “King” Rosado (21-6, 13 KOs), airing on Showtime Championship Boxing, live from Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. WBO No. 11-rated Rosado, fighting out of nearby Philadelphia, was stopped in the seventh round of his only world title fight to World Boxing Association (WBA) middleweight title-holder Gennady Golvkin last January.

In the past five-plus months, Quillin has turned 30, married Allison Berger, and started a few businesses (T-shirts and headphones).

“I’m in the best shape of my life and preparing to elevate myself to another level for this fight,” Quillin said. “Since my last fight I’ve set myself up in a lot of good ways, financially-speaking, so I’ll be able to pay bills for years. I have a family now with a wife who is my inspiration. My wife has a good career. She’s the producer of NBC’s Today Show. She supports me 100-percent and has helped me a lot with some creative ideas.

“I learn more about myself every fight. I know what my purpose in life is and who I really am. I’ve got past any insecurities I may have had – not insecure feelings about fighting my opponent – about letting people down. I’ve learned in life that you can’t make everybody happy. I’ve elevated myself as a fighter and person.”

Rosado is coming off a fight with J’Leon Love last May, in which Rosado lost a disputed split decision that was overturned and ruled a no-contest, when Love failed a post-fight test. The 27-year-old Rosado had won seven fights in a row prior to his loss to Golovkin.

“We’re both looking for definitive performances,” Quillin remarked. “I’m putting in the work at training camp to continue improving, physically and mentally. Rosado is coming ready to fight. He may have six losses, including one to a guy I bet (Guerrero), but I’m expecting to fight the best Gabriel Rosado.

“If all the talking he’s been doing is good for him, well, that’s fine with me. I don’t come up short. He knows how to lose, I don’t. I know some of the guys I fought aren’t the same. If the punches he’s taken in the past have hurt him, it’ll just make my job easier. I don’t have a problem with him. This fight isn’t personal; it’s business. We’ve both signed a contract to fight. We’ll shake hands before and after our fight, when I walk out of the ring the winner once again.”

Yuri Foreman2
MIAMI (October 7, 2013) – Light middleweight contenders Michael “The Brazilian Rocky” Oliveira (21-1, 16 KOs) and former world champion Yuri Foreman (31-2, 8 KOs) will fight in separate bouts during “Knockout Night At Hard Rock Live,” presented by MO Productions, on Tuesday night, November 12, 2013 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla.

MO Productions will be making its United States promotional debut after having promoted several shows in Brazil, as well as in Uruguay and the Dominican Republic. “Knockout Night At Hard Rock Live” will air live on SporTV, a Brazilian Sports television broadcaster affiliate to TV Globo Network.

“We’re excited to promote our first U.S. show, at home, here in Florida,” said Carlos Oliveira, president of Miami-based MO Productions. “I’d like to thank the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and SporTV for this tremendous opportunity. Michael Oliveira and Yuri Foreman are two of the top-rated light middleweights in the World Boxing Council. If both win impressively, they could be fighting, once again, against each other in the near future. Our show will also feature some of the best Miami-based boxing prospects. MO Productions has hired some of the top professionals in boxing for our show operations.”

Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, 23-year-old Oliveira lives in Miami, where he is trained by Orlando Cuellar. Oliveira is the reigning World Boxing Council (WBC) Fecarbox and World Boxing Association (WBA) Fedebol 154-pound champion, who is rated at No. 7 by both by the WBA and WBC.

Fight fans will get a front-row view of all the pulse-pounding action when longest-reigning champion in the UFC, welterweight king Georges St-Pierre (also known as “GSP”), returns to the Octagon® to face No. 1 contender Johny “Bigg Rigg” Hendricks. GSP will take on his most dangerous challenger to date in the sledge-hammer handed Hendricks. Broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, audiences will witness all the excitement as the undisputed champion in the UFC welterweight division is determined during the UFC’s 20th anniversary event.

Tickets for UFC® 167: ST-PIERRE vs. HENDRICKS are available at participating theater box offices and online at www.FathomEvents.com. The event will be presented in more than 350 select movie theaters around the country through NCM’s exclusive Digital Broadcast Network. For a complete list of theater locations and prices, visit the NCM Fathom Events website (theaters and participants are subject to change).

“UFC fans will want to experience GSP and Hendricks go head to head in UFC 167 on the big screen,” said Dan Diamond, senior vice president of NCM Fathom Events. “Audiences will feel like they have a ringside seat with every move these fighters make. The only way to get closer to the action would be to get in the Octagon.”

Montreal’s finest, Georges St-Pierre (24-2), the UFC welterweight champion since April 2008, has posted an impressive 11-fight win streak during his reign atop the 170-pound division. The dynamic GSP holds black belts in both Kyokushin karate and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. The two-time champion’s historic and unrivaled reign includes wins over UFC’s toughest including Matt Hughes, B.J. Penn and Jake Shields.

The hard-hitting Johny Hendricks (15-1), fighting out of Dallas, Texas, is the top-ranked challenger in the 170-pound division. He earned his shot at GSP by putting together a six-fight unbeaten streak in the UFC. A two-time NCAA Division I wrestling champion with one punch knockout power, “Bigg Rigg” is set on derailing St-Pierre’s march to the Hall of Fame. He is known for his extensive wrestling background and powerful punches, particularly from the left hand, which has earned him three Knockout of the Night bonuses and one Fight of the Night award.

The event features an exciting co-main light heavyweight bout between former UFC champion Rashad Evans and former two-division title challenger Chael Sonnen.

The old school will also meet the new breed at UFC 167, as the resurgent “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler meets Canada’s Rory MacDonald. After returning to the UFC in 2013 following a more than eight year absence, Lawler has looked better than ever in knocking out Josh Koscheck and Bobby Voelker. The 24-year-old MacDonald is currently sporting a five-fight winning streak that includes wins over BJ Penn and Jake Ellenberger, but he has yet to face someone with the power of Iowa’s Lawler, making this a must-see welterweight battle.
