RICARDO “DINAMITA” ALVAREZ HEADLINES SATURDAY, OCTOBER 5 CARD IN MEXICO AGAINST HUMBERTO “METRALLETA” MARTINEZ FOX DEPORTES AND TELEVISA TO AIR TRIPLEHEADER

LOS ANGELES, October 3 – Unbeaten in 12 of his last 13 bouts, Ricardo “Dinamita” Alvarez will represent his fighting family once again this Saturday, October 5, when he defends his WBA Continental Americas Super Lightweight Title against Colombia’s Humberto “Metralleta” Martinez in the 12-round main event of a Televisa and FOX Deportes-televised tripleheader entitled “DINAMITA PURA EN EL RING.”

In the co-featured bouts of the evening at Centro De Usos Múltiples Del Malecón in Ocotlan, Jalisco, Mexico, La Paz southpaw Ramon “Principe” Garcia takes on Venezuela’s Juan “Pequita” Lopez in a 10-round junior flyweight bout and undefeated Guadalajara prospect Jorge “Pilon” Lara meets Distrito Federal’s Oscar “Ceviche” Ibarra in a 10-round super bantamweight matchup.

This event is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and Canelo Promotions and sponsored by Corona. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. CT and the first fight begins at 6:00 p.m. CT. The FOX Deportes broadcast will air live at 10:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. PT and the Televisa broadcast will air on Canal 5 beginning at 10:30 p.m. CT.

The brother of former world champions Canelo and Rigoberto Alvarez, 31-year-old Ricardo “Dinamita” Alvarez (21-2-3, 13 KO’s) is making his own way to the top, hoping to soon add another world title belt to the family trophy case. Winner of three straight, Alvarez most recently defended his WBC Continental Americas title in July with a 12-round decision win over Reyes Sanchez, and he will look to extend that string of excellence when he battles Martinez.

Monteria’s Humberto “Metralleta” Martinez (27-7-1, 21 KO’s) is a hard-hitting competitor who emerged from the ultra-tough Colombian fight circuit as one of the most dangerous 140-pound fighters in the world. Winner of seven of his last eight, Martinez has won 12 overall fights in three rounds or less, so you can expect him to be bringing the dynamite to “Dinamita” Alvarez this Saturday.

Former WBO Junior Flyweight World Champion Ramon “Principe” Garcia (18-4-1, 11 KO’s) has won two straight over Jose Martinez and Juan Hernandez since his loss to Roman Gonzalez in their 2012 title fight, making it clear that he’s in the midst of yet another run at the championship. But to get back into the title picture, the 31-year-old southpaw from La Paz must first turn back the challenge of Valle de Pascua, Venezuela’s Juan “Pequita” Lopez (10-2, 8 KO’s) a knockout puncher looking to add a big name to his promising resume.

Unbeaten in 24 professional fights, Guadalajara’s Jorge “Pilon” Lara (23-0-1, 16 KO’s) is the latest Mexican standout to hit the 122-pound weight class, and with four consecutive knockouts to his name, he’s attempting to make a statement with each victory. His opponent on Saturday, 27-year-old Oscar “Ceviche” Ibarra (27-9, 18 KO’s), has won several regional titles over the years, most recently a WBC Silver Championship that he successfully defended three times. Now he begins the road back to the top against Lara.

BRACERO-SALITA SPECIAL EDITION BROADWAY BOXING PRESSER QUOTES

New York, NY (10/3/13) – Earlier today at the beautiful Marco Polo Ristorante in downtown Brooklyn, DiBella Entertainment hosted the initial press conference to announce the highly anticipated 10-round welterweight showdown between fellow Brooklynites Gabriel “Tito” Bracero (22-1, 4KO’s) and Dmitriy “Star of David” Salita (35-1-1, 18KO’s). The bout, which has been talked about for years and represents the biggest Broadway Boxing main event in its 10-plus-year existence and arguably the most significant fight to be made for New York boxing fans, will be staged Saturday, November 9, at the Aviator Sports and Events Center in Brooklyn.

Below are quotes and photos from the presser, which, in addition to Bracero and Salita and their camps, included fellow Brooklyn-natives and DBE-promoted prospects Shemuel “The Chosen One” Pagan (3-0, 1KO), Heather “The Heat” Hardy (6-0, 1KO) and Junior “Sugar Boy” Younan (pro debut), all of whom will be on the card November 9th.

KEVIN ROONEY JR. – DIBELLA ENTERTAINMENT:
I want to thank everyone for coming out today for the announcement of this special edition Broadway Boxing card that will take place on November 9th. This is a tremendous card from top to bottom, culminating with this excellent main event between Gabe and Dmitriy. This is by far the biggest fight in the history of Broadway Boxing and a very significant fight for NY boxing fans. This fight has been in the works for a very long time and has been talked about throughout the NY boxing scene for many years. Before I introduce the main event participants, I would like to introduce some of the undercard fighters who are here on the dais with me, who, like Gabe and Dmitriy, are fellow Brooklynites.

We have Shemuel Pagan, who we just recently signed to an exclusive co-promotional agreement with 50 Cent’s SMS Promotions. We are very excited to be working with Shemuel and seeing his career develop in the pro ranks. He was a terrific amateur, having won the NY Golden Gloves an astonishing five times and is an incredible young talent.

We also have with us today a girl that Lou (DiBella) has claimed to be NYC’s breakthrough female boxer and who continues to impress, with her army of adoring fans growing each and every outing. She is currently 6-0, 1KO, as a professional and we are honored to have her as part of the DBE roster, Heather “The Heat” Hardy.

Last, I would like to introduce to everyone the newest member to the DBE roster and someone who we envision very, very big things for in the future. He won every title and tournament imaginable as an amateur and is being guided by the same management team as pound-for-pounder Andre Ward. He turns 18 years old next week and we are looking forward to celebrating a special birthday with an impressive victory on November 9th. Please welcome blue-chip prospect Junior “Sugar Boy” Younan.

GABRIEL BRACERO:
I am very exited sitting here today. I literally have the chills, I am that excited. This has been a fight that has been talked about for a very long time. I have known Dmitriy for many years. Outside of the ring, we are friends, but come November 9th, that all goes out the window. It’s business time. November 9is an opportunity for both of us. We are both in our thirties and we both have one loss on our records. This is an important fight not only for me and Dmitriy, but also for the fans. This is an opportunity for me not to only make a statement but to move on to the next level. I have been waiting for this opportunity for a very long time. I am very confident, and I am not here to be disrespectful, but there is no doubt in my mind that I will be handling my business come November 9th.

DMITRIY SALITA:
It is a great honor to be here today and to be able to participate in this fight on November 9
th. This is a true crossroads, NYC neighborhood battle. There hasn’t been a fight this big here in a very long time. I have been seeking a fight like this for a while now. No one has stepped up to the plate, but Gabe did. I have a lot of respect for Gabe, I know what type of fighter he is, I know he is a warrior, but I am very focused and there is no doubt in my mind that I will come out victorious come November 9th.

JUNIOR YOUNAN:
I am honored to be able to make my pro debut on this card. I grew up watching these guys fight, so to be able to fight underneath them is truly something special for me. No offense to anyone up here, but I am stealing the show come November 9th. I have been waiting for this day for my entire life. I have been working really hard and I just can’t wait to get in that ring on November 9th and shine.

JOSH DUBIN – YOUNAN’S ADVISOR:
I told James Prince about this young man when he was 13 years old. I was watching him spar Paulie Malignaggi who was a world champion at the time and Junior was more than holding his own. I made a promise to his father years ago that when he was ready to turn pro, I would be there to guide him in that path. He has big expectations that he knows he has to live up to. I don’t think we could have picked a different promoter or promotional company to work with that knows the New York fight scene better, or that knows how to build young stars in the New York area better and we couldn’t be any happier to be associated with DiBella Entertainment. This is a longtime coming and we are very excited that this day is finally here.

HEATHER HARDY:
I feel blessed to be able to be up here with all of these great fighters and to be able to represent females in this sport. Lou has always been a very big supporter of female boxing, so it is an honor that I can call him my promoter. I grew up not too far from the Aviator, so trust me the Hardy Army is going to be even bigger and louder for this show and I can’t wait to get in there and perform in my hometown on November 9th.

SHEMUEL PAGAN:
I am truly honored and want to thank God for giving me this opportunity. I am Puerto Rican, but I practice Jewish faith, so if I had to pick a winner between Gabe (Puerto-Rican) and Dmitriy (Jewish), I would have to call it a draw. But seriously, I am just looking to put on a great performance and show everyone the talent that I have.

Tickets are currently on sale and are priced at $125, $85, $65 and $45, and can be purchased by calling the DiBella Entertainment office at (212) 947-2577. After pre-sale, only a limited number of tickets are currently left at each price point so act fast as this event will be sold out!

ISAAC CHILEMBA SIGNS PROMOTIONAL CONTRACT WITH MAIN EVENTS

TOTOWA, NJ – Main Events announced today that they have signed an exclusive promotional contract with South African light heavyweight Isaac Chilemba, 20-2-2, 9 KOs. The 26 year old Chilemba was born in Malawi and has fought the majority of his bouts in South Africa.

Nicknamed “Golden Boy”, Chilemba turned professional in 2005, and won several African titles during his eight years in the ring as a 168 and 175 pounder. Chilemba’s collection of championships include the African Boxing Union super middleweight title, the WBO Africa light heavyweight title, African Boxing Union light heavyweight title, WBC International light heavyweight title, the IBO super middleweight title, and the WBC International light heavyweight title.

Chilemba holds victories over perennial contender Edison Miranda (W10), then-undefeated Maxim Vlassov (W10), and dangerous trial horse Rayco Saunders (W8), all in the United States. In his last two bouts, Chilemba went 24 rounds in the UK with Liverpool Bomber Tony Bellew (D12, L12), in bouts for the WBC Silver light heavyweight title.

With his excellent international experience and solid record, Chilemba is likely to quickly break into the talented top-tier of the current light heavyweight scene.

Chilemba said, “I am pleased to be with Main Events and I look forward to getting back in the ring. Everything happens for a reason.”

“Isaac gave Maxim Vlasov, Thomas Oosthuizen and Doudou Ngumbu their first loss. All three are world rated fighters today. Also, arguably, he should hold one win over Tony Bellew, as they fought to a draw in Liverpool earlier this year . Isaac’s most impressive fights occurred during times when he was very active. We believe that the combination of activity and the exposure he will receive fighting on the NBC Sports Network will create the right environment to bring out his full potential,” said promoter Kathy Duva. “We are excited to work with Isaac, his manager, our long time friend, Damian Ramirez, and his co-manager, Jodi Soloman.”

Chilemba is expected to make his first start under the Main Events banner before the end of the year.

Queensberry Promotions and BoxNation Welcome Hobson and World Champion McDonnell to BoxNation

Promoter Dennis Hobson is delighted to announce that he has reached an exclusive agreement with Queensberry Promotions that will see IBF world bantamweight champion Jamie McDonnell defend his world title on ‘The Channel Of Champions’, BoxNation (Sky Ch. 437/Virgin Ch. 546).

The multi-fight deal will see Hobson promote shows in association with Queensberry Promotions in which McDonnell will headline stacked cards that will also feature Queensberry’s roster of boxers as well as Dennis Hobson’s own excellent emerging talent.

McDonnell, who won the title in sensational style against the fearsome punching Julio Ceja, will make the first defence of his IBF crown live and exclusive on BoxNation with the opponent, date and venue to be confirmed next week at a press conference.

The Doncaster star is one of British boxing’s biggest success stories in recent years having worked his way up through British, Commonwealth and European titles to earn his world title shot after two early career setbacks.

Fans crammed into Doncaster Rovers Keepmoat Stadium on a magical night in May to see the exciting 27-year-old defeat Ceja over twelve hard rounds to win on the judges’ scorecards and achieve his lifetime dream of becoming world champion.

Some exciting fights lie ahead for McDonnell and unifying the titles will be high on his agenda as he aims to define himself as the number one in the bantamweight division with Dennis Hobson, Queensberry Promotions and BoxNation backing him all the way.

Hobson, who secured crucial home advantage for his fighter on his world title challenge, was hugely excited that he is working with Queensberry and that Jamie will feature on BoxNation; “We’re absolutely delighted to link up with Queensberry Promotions and BoxNation. This deal has been in the pipeline for quite some time following conversations between myself and George Warren. We’re hugely looking forward to Jamie defending his world championship on the channel and developing him into one of the biggest names in boxing.”

Asif Vali of Platinum Consultancy has been working alongside Dennis Hobson Promotions and is delighted for Jamie McDonnell in securing this mega deal. Asif commented, “Dennis and I met with all the other major promoters in the UK and abroad, as well as all the major TV broadcasters, looking to secure the right broadcaster for Jamie – and after some very lengthy negotiations we have managed to secure this great deal with Queensberry which will see Jamie as the main event headlining shows in big arenas in the UK.”

A press conference will take

RONALD CRUZ RETURNS NOV. 16 AGAINST HECTOR MUNOZ AT SANDS CASINO BETHLEHEM; SOSA, McDOWELL MEET IN SEMIFINAL

Bethlehem, PA—Hoping to capitalize on his last two knockout wins, hometown welterweight Ronald Cruz goes against Hector Munoz, of Albuquerque, NM, in the 10-round main event on Saturday evening, Nov. 16, in the Events Center at the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem.

The Cruz-Morales fight ops a seven-bout card which begins at 7p.m.

Cruz (right), 27, rallied for a 10th-round knockout over Alberto Morales, of Miami, FL, on Sept. 26 at the Sands.
clip_image005 The win over Morales marked Cruz’ second knockout victory in less than two months. On Aug. 10 in the same ring, he K0d Rodolfo Armenta, of Rio Rico, AZ, in two rounds.

A pro since 2009, Cruz has a record of 19-2, 14 K0s. He had been ranked in the Top 15 worldwide by both the IBF and WBC until suffering back-to-back losses to Antwone Smith, of Miami, FL, in 2012 and to Ray Narh, of Accra, Ghana, earlier this year.

“I’m anxious to get back into the rankings,” said Cruz. “’I’d like to fight every month if I could. Ten-rounders, 12-rounders; it makes no difference to me. I’m still learning on the job and I need to stay active. Too many fighters today sit and wait. I don’t want to be one of them. I want to stay busy.”

Munoz (left), 34, comes into this fight off the biggest win of his career, a 10-round decision over Hector Camacho, Jr., on Sept. 11 in Parker, AZ.

A pro since 2002, Munoz has fought some of the best at 147 pounds, including Irving Garcia, Antonin DeCarie, Mike Jones, Shawn Porter, Brad Solomon and Ed Paredes.

Munoz’ record is 22-11-1, 14 K0s.

“The win over Camacho made me feel good about myself,” said Munoz. “I was in Philadelphia sparring with Danny Garcia and the work did wonders for me. I was too heavy (161 pounds) for the Camacho fight, but I still won. Now, for a change, I have seven weeks to get ready and it should be no problem for the rest of my career.”

The eight-round junior lightweight semifinal features crowd-pleasing Jason Sosa, of Camden, NJ, against Chazz McDowell, Yonkers, NY.

Sosa, who has knocked out his last five opponents, has a record of 10-1-3, 6 K0s. McDowell is 6-3-1, 1 K0.

Five additional fights complete the card.

ABOUT NOVEMBER 16

The Cruz-Munoz and and Sosa-McDowell fights headline a seven-bout card at the Sands Bethlehem. Doors open at 6.30pm; first fight 7p.m. Tickets priced at $50 and $75 can be purchased through the offices of Peltz Boxing (215-765-0922) and at all Ticketmaster outlets (800-745-3000). Troy King Inks with Ortega Boxing

Troy KingOAKLAND, CA – Locally well –known gym warrior Troy King has signed an exclusive contract with the Northern California-based Ortega Boxing for the rights to advise his professional career, which will launch on a November date to be announced in the coming weeks. King, a solidly-built welterweight, has been preparing himself for his professional debut out of the gym Boxing for Health in Oakland, which he runs with owner Miguel Lopez, an active pro fighter himself.

King, a veteran of only about fifteen amateur bouts, spent his unpaid career focusing more on an eventual move to the paid ranks, rather than attempting to rack up an impressive record or capture titles. “My amateur career was just about being comfortable with myself more so than actually winning matches,” says King bluntly. “That may sound funny, but it was all about performing well under the bright lights and doing what I had learned in training and sparring. I want to look fundamentally sound and sharp. That was what I worked on in the amateurs. People told me I could be a good amateur, but I didn’t like the style back then because of the scoring system and I am not a fan of the headgear at all. ”

Like something out of a Hollywood movie, King literally lives in the gym. Just off the main lobby of the gym, where you will more than likely find King if he’s not working out a client or himself in the ring, is a small loft where the fighter rests briefly between workouts.

“I’ve got my own little mansion,” says King of the Boxing for Health gym in the heart of Downtown Oakland. “It really does feel like I live in a mansion because I have my own gym. I got like a little loft. I basically just work out all the time and when I need a little rest I go pop in the back for a little bit, just enough time to get my energy back up and go back out there and get some more work in. It’s all about work, work, work. It’s non-stop work, especially when you live in a gym.”

King is one of several budding boxing standouts training out of the Oakland gym, an environment like few others in the region. Returning light middleweight and gym owner Lopez, fast-rising 154-pounder Aaron Coley, soon-to-turn-pro welterweight Otis Seymore, former amateur standout and pro heavyweight Bernard Gray and others all work out of the gym which is just a short jog from the world famous Lake Merritt.

“It’s just been a real fun experience, because we are all young, young and up-and-coming,” says Troy of the collection of fighters and winning environment. “We all just try and do the best we can. We basically all have our own careers in our own hands, which can’t be said by a lot of people. We make our own rules, we have our own gym. We can train and we can spar 24 hours a day if we wanted to.”

Troy King & Mario Ortega Jr. Planning to grow rapidly in the coming months, Ortega Boxing is excited to be working with a dedicated young pro and stand-up individual such as Troy King. “Fighters who have had carefully architected amateur careers that have led to flashy records and titles are always going to be the ones that get all of the attention when they turn professional,” explains Ortega Boxing founder Mario Ortega Jr.

“However, as history has shown, some of the best careers have been had by fighters that seemingly came out of nowhere. Olympians and National title holders will have doors opened for them immediately, but there is something to be said about the fighter that knocks those doors down himself from the get-go. Those are the fighters that appreciate success when it comes because they have worked hard and experienced the climb to get to that position.”

King, originally from Akron, Ohio, fell into the sport on a chance encounter. “I got into boxing after I got to train a boxer, just helping him out with mitt work,” recalls King. “Then when he moved away, I just started boxing one day and never stopped.”

King first hooked up with respected trainer Omar Dawood after finding the sport in Akron. ”He’s still kind of like my coach,” says King. “I still call him for advice. He’s a great coach, good fundamentals, great mitt work.”

After moving about 125 miles southwest to Columbus, Ohio, King hooked up with another quality trainer in Mike Johnson. “I have always been blessed with great coaches,” says King. “Mike Johnson is an excellent coach. He’s got a lot of trickery, old school stuff.”

After moving to the Bay Area, King spent time with trainer Ben Bautista of the locally renowned Straight Forward Boxing Club across the Bay in San Francisco. Now with Bautista having moved his camp to Las Vegas, Nevada, King has begun prepping for his pro debut with long noted trainer Mario L’Esperance.

Though just beginning, King has goals both big and small. “I want to be the pound-for-pound best, but more importantly I just want to be the best I can,” says King. “I just want to be special, that’s it. I don’t really care about belts, but I just want to have a real nice, clean, fresh record and swag. I want to look like swag on top of swag. Win, but look good doing it. I want to be special.”

About Ortega Boxing
Founded in 2011, Ortega Boxing has focused on working with young fighters, guiding them through the beginning stages of their careers with the hope of producing eventual champions and contenders. Ortega Boxing founder Mario Ortega Jr. began as a columnist for respected worldwide boxing news site 15rounds.com in 2007 and continues to rely on the contacts and connections he forged in that role to better the position of the company’s stable of fighters. The silhouette logo was derived from a photo of Ortega Jr.’s late great uncle Johnny Ortega, a former California State Bantamweight Champion and National AAU Champion boxer.

GOLDEN BOY PROMOTIONS SIGNS BRAZILIAN OLYMPIC BRONZE MEDALIST YAMAGUCHI FALCAO

LOS ANGELES, October 2 – A 2012 Olympic Bronze medalist and one of the most promising boxers to ever come from the country of Brazil, Yamaguchi Falcao will begin his journey toward professional gold as a member of the Golden Boy Promotions team, the Los Angeles-based promoter announced today.

“Yamaguchi Falcao is a top-tier talent and a major signing for us,” said Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions. “He has the skill and charisma to become a star and with the entire country of Brazil behind him, the sky’s the limit for him.”

“I’m honored to be signed with Golden Boy Promotions and I appreciate the faith they have in me,” said Falcao. “I promise to train my hardest and fight my best to one day become a world champion.”

“The signing of Yamaguchi Falcao is a extremely exciting to me,” said Rolando Arellano, Manager of Falcao, “I have had the pleasure and honor of managing the first Brazilian Boxing Olympian in 44 years. This is a historic and epic moment for all and now we move on to the pros. We will use this as an opportunity to rebuild boxing in Brazil.”

A native of Vitoria, Espirito Santo, Brazil, Falcao was born into combat sports, as his father was a former mixed martial artist who gave his son the first name of his Japanese trainer, Yamaguchi. Along with his brother Esquiva, Falcao entered the world of amateur boxing, hoping to one day escape the poverty they grew up around.

After facing the likes of “Sir” Marcus Browne, Shawn Estrada, and Ronald Gavril, Falcao fought his way to the brink of the 2012 Olympics at 160 pounds, but with his brother also weighing 160, he decided to move up to eight pounds to avoid possibly fighting Esquiva. The fighting Falcao brothers both went to the London Games, with Esquiva winning a Silver medal and Yamaguchi a Bronze, marking the first time in 44 years that a Brazilian boxer had won an Olympic medal.

The two became instant heroes in Brazil, receiving accolades from the President as well as state politicians. Yamaguchi stayed with the AIBA for a year and has he now decided to toss his hat into the pro ring in an effort to follow in the footsteps of Brazilian greats Eder “Gallo de Oro” Jofre and Acelino “Popo” Freitas.

A date and venue for Yamaguchi’s professional debut will be announced at a later date.

Johnny Callas being inducted into Connecticut Boxing Hall of Fame

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (October 2, 2013) – Sweet Science aficionado Johnny “Coach” Callas has just about done it all in boxing, ranging from being a collegiate boxing champion, to longtime coach of amateur boxers, World Boxing Council referee, and more. The highlight of his career in boxing, however, will come November 9 when he’s inducted into the Connecticut Boxing Hall of Fame (CBHOF).

The Class of 2013 will be formerly inducted during the 9TH annual CBHOF Gala Induction Dinner on Saturday night, Nov. 9 in the Uncas Ballroom at Mohegan Sun. Callas will be joined by five other inductees: former world title challengers Luigi “Kid Dynamite” Campurato and Israel “Pito” Cardona, broadcaster Al Bernstein, promoter Joe DeGuardia, and USA Boxing administrator Roland Roy.

“I’m humbled and honored to be part of this class,” Callas said. “To being going in with International Boxing Hall of Famer Al Bernstein, one of my all-time favorite announcers, and all of the other inductees is incredible. This is extra special for me because I’m being inducted with one of my boxers, Israel Cardona, who is a graduate our boxing academy (Callas founded Charter Oak Boxing Academy). He had a solid professional boxing career and is now doing a phenomenal job coaching the Hartford Police amateur boxing program.

“I’m leaving a legacy for my family; my children and grand-children can always say that I’m in the Connecticut Boxing Hall of Fame. It’s hard to find words to properly describe how I feel about this. I know it is something that will endure long past my time. It means I accomplished something of value in a sport I’m so passionate about.”

Callas has worked the past 24 years for the State of Connecticut’s Department of Children & Family, today serving as a program manager who also operates a hotline for children protective services.

The Hartford native has refereed nearly 150 pro fights, including 12 world championships from around the world, many of which aired on HBO, Showtime and ESPN. He has been the third man in the ring for fights involving the first woman inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame, Lucia Ryker, as well as fellow CBHOF inductees John “Iceman” Scully and “Irish” Micky Ward, and world champions Juan Manuel Lopez and Miquel Cotto. Callas was USA Boxing Connecticut Junior Olympic chairman for 15 years, in addition to being a NCBC national college champion and three-time All-America boxer at Central Connecticut State University in the mid-eighties. Johnny also founded the aforementioned Charter Oak Boxing Academy, where he is happily and proudly remains as executive director and head coach.

“If I had to pick only one thing I did in boxing,” Callas remarked, “there’s no question that is would be as a boxer, especially being brought up by CBHOF inductee Billy Taylor. He was known as the ‘Coach of Coaches’ on the collegiate circuit. That’s where it all started for me and if I hadn’t been a boxer, I wouldn’t be a coach today. I always wanted to grow-up and give back to boxers because of what this sport can do for kids. I love it.”

Tickets for the CBHOF 9th annual Gala Induction Dinner, reasonably priced at $90.00, are on sale now by calling Kim Baker at Mohegan Sun (1.860.862.7377) or Sherman Cain at the Manchester Journal Inquirer (1.800.237.3606 X321). COURT RULING SUPPORTS ULTIMATE FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIP’S FIGHT TO LEGALIZE MIXED MARTIAL ARTS IN NEW YORK

Las Vegas, Nev. – The Ultimate Fighting Championship® (UFC®), and plaintiffs in the Jones v. Schneiderman case, are pleased to announce that yesterday the Federal District Court found that their challenge to the constitutionality of New York’s ban on mixed martial arts (MMA) can go forward. The court recognized that the State Athletic Commission and the Attorney General have repeatedly changed position on whether amateur and professional MMA can occur lawfully in the state of New York, which plaintiffs argue renders the ban unconstitutionally vague. While other claims in the lawsuit were dismissed, the UFC and plaintiffs are prepared to win their case and defeat the ban with the court’s green light on the vagueness challenge.

“We are extremely pleased with the judge’s decision and looking forward to moving to a prompt and successful conclusion,” said Barry Friedman, who is representing the plaintiffs with Morrison & Foerster as co-counsel.

Zuffa LLC, which owns the UFC, filed a federal lawsuit in New York challenging the state’s ban on professional MMA in 2011. Of the 48 states with athletic commissions, New York is the only state that has a ban on the sport. New York passed a law prohibiting MMA events in 1997 identifying it as a “combative sport” unlike boxing, wrestling or karate which are legal. The UFC produces over 30 live events a year, broadcast in 882 million homes in more than 145 countries, with an adopted set of rules and regulations to ensure the safety of the sport.

“We are pleased with the outcome of this crucial ruling. The inconsistency has cost the UFC considerable time and expense, but more important it has deprived MMA’s countless New York fans of the opportunity to attend and enjoy live professional and amateur MMA events in New York,” said Ike Lawrence Epstein, UFC’s COO. “It is time for New York to have a new law on MMA, one that legalizes the sport and regulates it in a safe way, as all other states have done. New York’s law is outdated, written at a time when MMA was a very different sport.”

Several fighters are plaintiffs in the case challenging the constitutionality of the ban including UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, as well as UFC superstars Frankie Edgar, Matt Hamill, and Brian Stann.

Should the case not be resolved at the District Court level, plaintiffs intend to appeal the First Amendment ruling.

HUGHIE LEWIS FURY DOMINATES DARCH FOR 10TH WIN

London (2 October) Heavyweight prospect Hughie Lewis Fury aims to keep improving after a dominant win over Dorian Darch at York Hall, Bethnal Green, London.

The 19-year-old heavyweight commanded the ring on his way to a unanimous points win over six rounds to record his 10th straight professional win on Miranda Carter’s ‘Sunday Rumble’ show.

“I’m still young and I’m still improving and I’m looking to give a better performance every time I fight,” Hughie said.

“It’s good to get the rounds in as by knocking people out you don’t learn as much, so now I can watch the tape back and learn big from this fight.”

Just one day after Hughie was scheduled to fight on the undercard to his older cousin Tyson Fury’s domestic super fight with David Haye, prior to Haye’s withdrawal, he found himself opposite the former ABA champion, Darch.

Darch, 29, had won seven of his eight professional fights prior to the contest, with his sole defeat coming to Ian Lewison and was expected to give Hughie another big test.

Hughie came out behind his signature left jab; moving and slipping, as the muscular Darch looked to get to the inside.

Swiftly moving forward and firing lefts and rights, Darch was looking to unsettle the teenage heavyweight early, but Hughie maintained his composure, utilising his slick movement and left lead.

In the second, Darch again started quickly, as he tried to negate the jab by closing the range, but Hughie again used his superior movement to land stinging lefts and maintain the distance.

A classy right feint and left uppercut found its target, as Darch looked unable to answer the questions the young heavyweight was asking.

Quickening the pace in the third, Hughie fired the left jab at will, followed by heavy rights.

A right and left to the body had Darch in real trouble, as he stumbled back towards the ropes, grimacing and clenching over as Hughie closed in.

Hughie went for the stoppage, landing hard rights directly to the body of Darch, who showed remarkable recovery to fire back with right hands of his own to survive the round.

Clearly on top of the contest, Hughie began to let loose in the fourth; firing the left lead before delivering rights to the body.

A quick right hand to the body sent Darch to the canvas, but it was adjudged to be a low blow.

Hughie went back to the left lead as a game Darch came forward. Another flurry of lefts and rights left Darch holding on, as again he seemed to buckle.

In the fifth, Hughie was landing lefts and rights to the head and body, as a physically tired Darch held more and more.

By the end of the sixth it was clear that there was only going to be one winner, with Hughie recording a unanimous points win.

“It was a brilliant performance, from a very special and unique talent,” Mick Hennessy said.

“Hughie has only just turned 19 and he was fighting someone with a record of eight fights with seven wins and who has fought in very good company.

“He just dismantled him, hurt him, nearly stopped him three or four times within just six rounds – I don’t know how Dorian Darch went the distance, fair play to him for that, because for a 19-year-old, that was a spectacular performance – he’s a special talent and the future of the heavyweight division.”

STAR BOXING GETS RODRIGUEZ IN WITH COTTO ON HBO® AND OPPORTUNITY OF A LIFETIME

Delvin Rodriguez_Diller
Saturday night in Orlando, Florida, world rated contender Delvin Rodriguez, 28-6-1 16KO’s, Danbury, CT steps into the ring with future Hall of Famer and three time World Champion Miguel Cotto, 37-4 30KO’s, Caguas, PR in a bout that will be televised live on HBO. While Delvin has had many opportunities in his long career including two world title fights, multiple title eliminator’s, and numerous ESPN appearances, this opportunity presents Delvin’s biggest yet, against a legend as the main event on the ‘legend of boxing networks’, HBO.

Many have credited Star Boxing’s relentless efforts on behalf of its fighters as a reason for Delvin’s consistent ability to participate in so many high profile bouts and be the recipient of so many opportunities. Star Boxing, unlike many other sports entities, as a knack for rebuilding its talent. In Delvin’s instance, Star Boxing has continually provided National TV fights for Delvin, and has stood behind him where many others might have given up.

While Star Boxing President/CEO Joe DeGuardia acknowledges his efforts on behalf of Delvin, he credits Delvin. “Delvin shows up like a true professional every time and gives his best each time out. This has endeared him to boxing fans throughout the world. In addition, he is unfortunately received the short end of the stick on 4 of his 6 defeats. Those majority and split hometown decision losses in Poland and South Africa are disappointing, but did not break him. His record could just as easily be 33-2, and he deserves these opportunities. I am just pleased that we have been able to provide them for him.”

Most fans will remember the Star Boxing promoted “Fight of the Year” between Delvin and Pawel Wolak. The fight was widely seen on ESPN “Friday Night Fights” series and it is still talked about two years later. Through the efforts of Star Boxing, Delvin has appeared on ESPN more than any other fighter in the last few years.

The uniqueness of the relationship between Delvin and Star Boxing has enabled Delvin to get all these opportunities. Delvin puts complete, unconditional trust and faith in Star’s ability to move his career in the right direction. Star’s faith in Delvin is unwavering and founder Joe DeGuardia hopes lighting strikes again when he took a virtually unwanted fighter in Antonio Tarver and maneuvered him into multi million dollar fights and boxing stardom.

The fight with Cotto promises to be a slugfest as are most of Delvin’s fights and the real winners will be the fans who tune into HBO this Saturday night. The trend lately has been for fighters comparable to Delvin, who step into the ring as an underdog against a well known fighter, and come out either victorious in the ring or victorious with the fans and many hope and expect the same from the likable Delvin Rodriguez.

ESPN Films’ 30 for 30 Series Continues with Sugar Ray Leonard and Roberto Durand Documentary, No Más

ESPN Films’ Peabody award-winning 30 for 30 film series continues with No Más, which will premiere on Tuesday, October 15, at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN (following a special premiere on ESPN Deportes on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 9 p.m.) The film, directed by Eric Drath (Renee), chronicles the rivalry of boxing legends Sugar Ray Leonard and Roberto Duran.

In the midst of boxing’s contemporary golden age - the 1980’s - stood two fighters who established a captivating rivalry. Their pair of bouts within a span of just over 5 months in 1980 had all the trappings of instant classics. Sugar Ray Leonard, an American hero, who had become a household name after a Gold Medal-winning performance at the 1976 Summer Olympics that led to numerous corporate sponsorships, versus the lightweight champion Roberto Duran of Panama, the toughest - some said meanest - fighter of all time. It was not just the drama and action of these fights that would endure, but those two words uttered in the second of their clashes, which would create a sense of mystery, bewilderment and intrigue to the present day. Through Leonard’s journey to Panama to see his old rival in search of closure, No Más looks for answers to Duran’s stunning decision to quit in the middle of a championship fight.

Remaining films in the fall slate will air as follows:
Tuesday, Oct. 15, 8 p.m. – No Más (Director: Eric Drath)
Tuesday, Oct. 22, 8 p.m. – Big Shot (Director: Kevin Connolly)
Tuesday, Oct. 29, 8 p.m. – This is What They Want (Directors: Brian Koppelman and David Levien)
Tuesday, Nov. 5, 8 p.m. – Bernie and Ernie (Director: Jason Hehir)

Each 30 for 30 film will be available on iTunes and Amazon Instant Video the day after its broadcast premiere. A six-disc collectible DVD Gift Set, featuring the first fifteen films from 30 for 30 Volume II, will be available at major retailers in-store and online on November 26, 2013.

30 for 30-related updates are available at www.facebook.com/espn30for30 and www.twitter.com/30for30.

WBO MIDDLEWEIGHT WORLD CHAMPION PETER “KID CHOCOLATE” QUILLIN TO FACE “KING” GABRIEL ROSADO IN CO-MAIN EVENT OF HOPKINS VS. MURAT TRIPLEHEADER ON OCTOBER 26 AT BOARDWALK HALL IN ATLANTIC CITY

Peter Quillin
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (October 1, 2013) – After scoring 10 knockdowns in his last two fights and soaring to the top of the 160-pound weight class, WBO Middleweight Champion Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin will make his second title defense on Saturday, Oct. 26 when he meets Philadelphia contender “King” Gabriel Rosado in the Bernard Hopkins vs. Karo Murat co-main event at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ, live on SHOWTIME® (9 p.m. ET/PT).

Additionally, knockout artist WBC Continental Americas Heavyweight Champion Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder, will open the telecast when he takes on Nicolai “Stone Man” Firtha in a 10-round showdown. In the main event, IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins will become the oldest fighter in history to make his initial title defense when he faces highest-rated light heavyweight challenger Karo Murat in a 12-round matchup.

“It’s great to be on the East Coast and back on SHOWTIME for my second world title defense,” said Quillin. “Rosado is a quality challenger who always comes to fight, and because of our competitive styles, the fans are going to get a great show on October 26.”

“I’ve never lost in New Jersey and I don’t plan on starting now,” said Rosado. “I’ve chased a world title for a long time and while I respect Quillin for giving me this new opportunity, but I’m going to have to take that belt and bring it back home to Philly.”

“Nicolai Firtha is a veteran who has gone the distance with a lot of tough fighters,” said Wilder. “But I’m more confidant and more ready than ever, so I’m expecting another knockout win, I want to make a statement with this fight.”

“Wilder hits hard, there’s no question about that, but we’ve never see what happens when he gets hit back,” said Firtha. “I’m going to hit him on Oct. 26 and I plan on taking his ‘0’ away.”

“We’ve returned to the East Coast with not just another history-making title defense by Bernard Hopkins against a hungry challenger in Karo Murat, but we have a guaranteed action with the undercard,” said Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions. The co-main event between the top American middleweight in the world, Peter Quillin and the always tough Gabriel Rosado as well as one of the most exciting young heavyweights out there, Deontay Wilder, against someone coming to score the upset in Nicolai Firtha. It’s going to be a great night for boxing once again.”

New York City’s Peter Quillin (29-0, 21 KO’s) was considered by many as one of the top rising stars in the sport, but when he beat Winky Wright in 2012, the stakes got higher for “Kid Chocolate,” who fulfilled his potential in October of last year with a six-knockdown win over Hassan N’Dam that earned him the WBO Middleweight Championship. In April of 2013, Quillin successfully defended his title for the first time, dropping Fernando Guerrero four times en route to a seventh-round technical knockout victory. On Oct. 26, the 30-year-old will look to showcase his championship skills against “King” Rosado.

A Philadelphia fighter through and through, 27-year-old Gabriel Rosado (21-6, 13 KO’s) is a fearless warrior willing to do whatever it takes in search of victory. Holder of wins over Jesus Soto Karass, Sechew Powell, Kassim Ouma and Charles Whittaker, Rosado has also been in the ring with Gennady Golovkin, Alfredo Angulo, and J’Leon Love and when the bell rings on Oct. 26, this “King” will do whatever it takes to win the middleweight crown.

With 29 wins, 29 knockouts and no defeats, 2008 U.S. Olympic Bronze medalist and WBC Continental Americas Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder has the boxing world abuzz with his devastating power and championship potential. Hailing from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the 27-year-old is coming off of first round knockouts of former gold medalist Audley Harrison and former heavyweight champion Siarhei Liakhovich, making it clear that no one is safe from the wrath of the “Bronze Bomber.”

Akron, Ohio’s Nicolai “Stone Man” Firtha (21-10-1, 8 KO’s) was a decorated amateur who fought his way to the 2004 Olympic trials, but his true home was in the professional game, where he has won the USA Ohio State and NABA USA titles. He has also faced quality opposition like Alexander Povetkin, Tony Grano, Tyson Fury and Johnathan Banks, knocking out Grano and going the distance with Povetkin and Banks. Coming off a win over Robert Hawkins in July, the 34-year-old will leave it all in the ring in search of victory on Oct. 26.

Hopkins vs. Murat is a 12-round bout for Hopkins’ IBF Light Heavyweight World Championship, presented by Golden Boy Promotions and sponsored by Caesars Atlantic City, Corona and AT&T. In the co-main event WBO Middleweight Champion Peter Quillin put his title on the line against Gabriel Rosado in a 12-round bout. Plus, opening the tripleheader, WBC Continental Americas Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder will face Nicolai Firtha in a 10-round showdown. The SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING® telecast begins live at 9 p.m. ET/PT and is available in Spanish on secondary audio programming (SAP).

Polish Action Hero ‘Diablo’ Wlodarczyk to Defend WBC Championship Against Arch Rival Fragomeni on Friday, December 6, 2013, at Chicago’s UIC Pavilion

On Friday, December 6, at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, promoters Andrew Wasilewski and Piotr Werner of Ulrich Knockout Promotions, Leon Margules of Warriors Boxing and Dominic Pesoli of 8 Count Promotions will once again bring world-class professional boxing back to the Windy City with their latest blockbuster event, this one entitled “World Championship Boxing: Wlodarczyk vs. Fragomeni 3”.

In the night’s 12-round main event, WBC Cruiserweight Champion Krzysztof “Diablo” Wlodarczyk (48-2-1, 34 KOs) of Warsaw, Poland, will attempt to make the sixth defense of his title and complete an epic trilogy of fights with Milan, Italy’s former WBC Cruiserweight Champion Giacobbe “Gabibbo” Fragomeni (31-3-2, 12 KOs).

Tickets for “World Championship Boxing: Wlodarczyk vs. Fragomeni 3” are priced at VIP $201, VIP Ringside $151, Ringside $101, Box Mezzanine $76, Reserved Mezzanine $51, and General Admission $31 and can be purchased through Ticketmaster (Ticketmaster.com, 1-800-745-3000), the 8 Count Productions Offices: 312-226-5800 or the UIC Pavilion Box Office: 312-413-5740.

Current WBC (and former IBF) World Cruiserweight Champion Krzysztof Wlodarczyk is a blood-and-guts warrior who can’t seem to be in a bad fight. The 32-year-old was last seen coming off the canvas to stop then-undefeated 2008 Olympic Gold Medallist and highly touted challenger Rakhim Chakhkiev in a definite “Fight of the Year” candidate, in June in Moscow, Russia.

Wlodarczyk won his WBC Championship in Lodz, Poland in 2010 with a brutal TKO 8 over Fragomeni, after previously fighting to a draw with him in one of 2009’s best fights in Rome, Italy. He previously won and lost the IBF World Championship in a pair of fights against Steve Cunningham.

Fragomeni is a hero to his Italian people and a powerful slugger with unbreakable will. In addition to his WBC title, which he won in 2008 with a technical decision over Rudolf Kraj, Fragomeni has also currently holds the WBC Silver Cruiserweight Title and has also won the WBC International, European Union, WBC International and IBF Mediterranean Championships.

Fragomeni won his WBC Silver title and the right to face Wlodarczyk for the third time with a victory over his formidable Italian countryman Silvio Branco last December in PalaGarda, Italy.

“I am excited to defend my title against a worthy challenger in front of so many Polish Americans in the great city of Chicago,” said Krzysztof Wlodarczyk. “I will finish this series with Fragomeni with a huge victory for all the fans.”

“It has been my unique privilege to help Dominic Pesoli reignite Chicago as a boxing hotbed and this fight will feature yet another great Polish fighter in a world championship bout,” said Leon Margules of Warriors Boxing. “The atmosphere of the Midwest’s top location for boxing and the thrills that every Krzysztof Wlodarczyk fight creates will make for another unforgettable night.”

“My partners and I are very happy to finally bring Diablo Wlodarczyk to Chicago, a city that loves an all-action Polish fighter like him,” said Dominic Pesoli of 8 Count Promotions. “This is going to be an unforgettable night for the fans and a chance to see world championship boxing at its highest level.”

Several other exciting bouts will be announced shortly. On fight night, doors will open on the night of the event at 6:00 pm CT with the first bout scheduled for 7:00 pm. The UIC Pavilion is located at 525 S. Racine, at the corner of Harrison and Racine on the campus of the University of Illinois-Chicago.

THE WORLD AGREES: VERA WON THE FIGHT AGAINST CHAVEZ JR.; VERA NOW SEEKS REMATCH

Vera_Chavez_PC
PHILADELPHIA (September 30, 2013)—This past Saturday night at the StubHub Center in Carson, California, WBO #1 Ranked Middleweight Bryan Vera put in an amazing performance that should have propelled him to a victory over former WBC Middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr.

Vera won the fight overwhelmingly on all social media sites and the below link compiled by Boxing News polled nearly sixty writers and NOT ONE saw the fight for Chavez and only seven went so far as to score this a draw.
http://www.boxingnewsonline.net/latest/feature/brian-vera-scored-the-winner-over-julio-cesar-chavez-jnr-by-53-members-of-the-press

The entire world on HBO Championship Boxing, with the exception of the three judges at ringside, saw that Vera controlled the action and outlanded Chavez in the bout. Vera also threw 406 more punches and was more consistent throughout the fight.

“I won the fight like everybody else saw.”, said Vera.

“If I get another opportunity, especially in Texas, it will be more of a level playing field. I felt like I proved that I am one of the best Middleweights and Super Middleweights in the world and nobody expected that.”

“We are extremely proud of Bryan. He is a true professional and he went out there, did his job and clearly won the fight”, said Banner Promotions President Arthur Pelullo.

“I have been getting calls from all over from people who saw Bryan go out there and win. With this performance, Bryan clearly won the fight in the court of public opinion and it opened up more doors for him. HBO I know wants him back and the first order of business is to pursue the rematch. Bryan gave into all of Chavez’ demands regarding the weight so now it’s only fair to concede something to Bryan. Chavez should man up and give him a rematch”

Said Vera’s manager David Watson, “This is what Teddy Atlas talks about with the terrible judging. Bryan did everything that was asked of him. He trained hard and did everything the right way and went out there and did his job, what kind of message does this send? We know he won. The world knows he won. We know that he can’t win unless he knocks Chavez out because of the unfair judging. He carried and controlled the fight and the only people who thought Chavez won were the three judges.”

“Ever since we walked out of the ring, people have not been happy about this and I know the public wants to see a rematch.”

Several fighters hope to reach milestones Friday in mixed martial arts show at Twin River

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Sept. 30th, 2013) — History will be made Friday night at Twin River Casino. Just how much history remains to be seen.

In addition to Kaline Medeiros (1-3, 1 KO) and Rachel Sazoff (0-0) battling in Rhode Island’s first professional female mixed martial arts’ bout, local fan favorites Todd “The Hulk” Chattelle (11-9, 8 KOs) and Andre Soukhamthath (5-1, 3 KOs) will each attempt to become the winningest fighter in Classic Entertainment & Sports’ history when CES MMA presents “Rise Or Fall,” live from Twin River Casino on Friday, Oct. 4th, 2013.

“What a dynamic card!” CES president Jimmy Burchfield said. “It’s a promoter’s dream.”

Chattelle and Soukhamthath, both from Rhode Island, are tied with five wins apiece since beginning their CES careers in 2011 and 2012, respectively. A victory in Friday’s main event against middleweight John Troyer (14-9, 5 KOs) of Kentucky would give Chattelle either a share or sole possession of at least three CES records; he already leads the promotion with eight total bouts and four first-round knockouts.

With a win over bantamweight Billy Vaughn (12-15, 3 KOs) of Columbus, Ohio, Soukhamthath (5-1, 3 KOs) would keep pace with “The Hulk” and extend his streak to six consecutive victories, adding to the CES record he set in June when he passed Chattelle’s four-fight win streak with his fifth consecutive win.

Aside from the personal achievements, the always-busy Chattelle is also looking to get back on track after suffering his third loss in four fights in a submission loss to Dennis Olson in April, a rematch of Chattelle’s pro debut in 2007, which also ended in a loss. “The Hulk” finished an unprecedented 4-0 in 2011 before hitting this most recent rough stretch, and the journey gets no easier Friday against Troyer, a three-time Bellator Fighting Championships veteran searching for his first win since November.

Medeiros and Sazoff will forever be linked as the first female fighters to face one another in Rhode Island, but only one will make history as the first to win a fight. Medeiros, a Fall River, Mass., resident born in Brazil, has four professional bouts under her belt. Last year, she earned her first win with a 7-second knockout over highly-decorated amateur Stephanie Eggink and, as a result, won the 2012 Knockout of the Year by the Women’s MMA Press Association.

Tickets for “Rise Or Fall” are $36.00, $56.00, $101.00 and $126.00 and can be purchased by calling CES at 401.724.2253/2254, online at www.cesmma.com or www.twinriver.com, at the Players Club booth at Twin River, or through any TicketMaster location. Doors open 6 p.m. with the first bout scheduled for 7.

The undercard features the CES debut of heavyweight John Johnston (3-0, 3 KOs) of Melrose, Mass., who will battle veteran Chris Guillen (13-15, 1 KO) of St. George, Utah, and the return of lightweight Charles Rosa (4-0, 2 KOs), a resident of Delray Beach, Fla., who graduated from Rhode Island’s Johnson & Wales University and made his Twin River debut in August. Rosa will face Steve McCabe (6-13, 5 KOs) of Philadelphia.

Lightweight Marc Stevens (14-8, 6 KOs) of Lorraine, N.Y., will battle Philadelphia’s Andrew Osborne (7-6, 2 KOs) in a three-round bout and Meriden, Conn., lightweight Willie Brown Jr. (0-0) will search for his first win against Angelo Rodriguez (1-0, 1 KO) of Worcester, Mass. Welterweight Tommy Venticinque (0-0) of Warwick, R.I., will face Metheun, Mass., veteran Brandon Chagnon (3-4), and fellow welterweight Nick Drummond (4-0, 1 KO) of Boston will put his unbeaten record on the line against hard-hitting veteran Ralph Johnson (5-7) of nearby Worcester. All fights and fighters are subject to change.

(Twin River has waived its 18+ rule for “Rise Or Fall.” Anybody under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult and must enter through the West entrance).
