“Jhonatan is a very talented fighter that brings a lot of excitement to the ring with his active style,” said Shaw. “I believe he’s the best super bantamweight in the world today and I’m pleased that HBO will be televising his fight. He’s in a tough fight but I believe he’ll come out on top.”

“We are excited that Jhonatan ‘Momo’ Romero will be able to showcase his talent on HBO and make his first IBF title defense in front of a large U.S. audience,” said Alex Camponovo, executive Vice President of Thompson Boxing Promotions. “Since winning the world title Romero has become a star in Colombia and we want him to make the crossover. We know Kiko Martinez will be a rigorous test for Romero but we can’t cut any corners at this level. It will be a great match because both men are ready to shine and more than willing to show their ability.”

GENNADY “GGG” GOLOVKIN IN MONTE CARLO FOR SUPER 4 FINALS, RECEIVES MID YEAR HONORS FROM ESPN

Gennady Golovkin
Monte Carlo (July 11, 2013) Boxing’s fastest rising superstar Gennady “GGG” Golovkin is in the world’s most beautiful tourist location, Monte Carlo, this week for the Monte Carlo Million Dollar Super 4 Finals taking place this Saturday, JULY 13.

This week Golovkin, the WBA and IBO Middleweight World Champion, also received awards from ESPN including “Fighter of the Mid-Year” and “Knockout of the Mid-Year”. He has already fought three times in 2013 resulting in three spectacular knockouts.

“I’m honored to receive these two awards from ESPN. It’s been a great first half of the year,” said Golovkin. “I’m looking forward to all of the future challenges ahead.”

Golovkin received the “Knockout of the Year” award for his devastating third round stoppage of Nobuhiro Ishida, which took place on Saturday, MARCH 30 in Monte Carlo on the same card as the Monte Carlo Million Dollar Super 4 Semi-Finals.

Undefeated with a record of 27-0-0 with 24 knockouts, Golovkin started off his 2013 campaign with a seventh round stoppage of Gabriel Rosado on JANUARY 19 at Madison Square Garden, “The Mecca of Boxing”, and most recently delivered a picture perfect, crunching left hook body shot to Matthew Macklin on JUNE 29 to earn a third round stoppage at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut, both of which were broadcast LIVE on HBO.

With the highest knockout ratio (88.89%) amongst active titleholders and riding a 14-bout knockout streak, Golovkin is bringing high ratings to his telecasts on HBO in the United States, DMAX in Germany, KZ TV in Kazakhstan in addition to Russian TV among the numerous countries telecasting his bouts.

“Gennady’s fights have become must-see TV for boxing fans across the world. He’s very honored to receive these awards from ESPN along with the massive amount of interest from the sports media across all continents” said Tom Loeffler, Managing Director of K2 Promotions.

“We are currently in discussions with HBO and are looking at a few different options for the second half of this year for Gennady. We are looking forward to announcing his next fight shortly.”

WBC FEATHERWEIGHT WORLD CHAMPION ABNER MARES TO DEFEND HIS CROWN AGAINST FORMER WORLD CHAMPION JHONNY GONZALEZ AND FORMER IBF BANTAMWEIGHT WORLD CHAMPION LEO SANTA CRUZ SEEKS SECOND WORLD TITLE WHEN HE FACES WBC SUPER BANTAMWEIGHT WORLD CHAMPION VICTOR TERRAZAS

abner-mares
LOS ANGELES (July 11, 2013) – On the verge of becoming boxing’s next superstar, Three-Time, Three-Division World Champion and current WBC Featherweight World Champion Abner Mares has remarkably won three divisional world titles in less than two years. On Saturday, August 24, he will return home to Southern California to defend his title against a man hungry to take that belt back, former Two-Division World Champion Jhonny Gonzalez at StubHub Center in Carson in a fight which will be televised live on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING®(10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT).

In the co-featured bout, another of the sport’s most exciting competitors, former IBF Bantamweight World Champion Leo “Terremoto” Santa Cruz, will look to win his second world championship when he challenges WBC Super Bantamweight World Champion Victor “Vikingo” Terrazas.

“I’m looking forward to fighting in front of my hometown fans on August 24 at StubHub Center,” said Mares. “Jhonny Gonzalez and I have a lot of respect for each other, but we know what’s at stake. I’m confident that we’re going to put on an explosive fight that fans will want to see.”

“The belt belongs to me,” said Gonzalez. “It’s time it returns to my waist. I will give it everything I’ve got on August 24.”

“I’ve made many sacrifices throughout my career to win this belt and I’m not about to give it away,” said Terrazas. “It’s obvious that Leo Santa Cruz is a talented fighter, but it’s going to take more than that for me to go back to Mexico without the belt.”

“I’m very honored to be fighting for the WBC world championship and I’m extremely motivated to train hard to take this belt home,” said Santa Cruz. “I will not let this opportunity get away from me. I will become world champion once again.”

“This doubleheader reminds me of great Los Angeles fight nights when you would see great Mexican fighters battling it out in the ring while the crowd went crazy,” said Oscar De La Hoya, President of Golden Boy Promotions. “That’s what we have with Mares vs. Gonzalez and Terrazas vs. Santa Cruz…four Mexican warriors fighting not only for a world championship, but for pride.”

“Abner Mares and Leo Santa Cruz are two of the most exciting and fan-friendly fighters in the sport today,” said Stephen Espinoza, Executive Vice President and General Manager, SHOWTIME Sports. “Mares’ fight against the crafty veteran Jhonny Gonzalez is sure to be explosive, as both fighters are known for their warriors’ mentalities. This will be Santa Cruz’s first world title shot in the super bantamweight division, and he has certainly earned it after dynamic performances in his last few fights. This doubleheader makes it a night not to be missed.”

“We’re thrilled to once again play host to some of Southern California’s top boxing talent,” said Katie Pandolfo, General Manager of StubHub Center. “Fight nights at StubHub Center are unlike any other venue and we’re proud that we have become a home to some of the best that boxing has to offer. We started the summer off with a record breaking evening of boxing in June and look forward to closing out the season with a bang on August 24.”

Mares vs. Gonzalez, a 12-round fight for Mares’ WBC Featherweight World Championship, will take place on Saturday, August 24 at StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. The event is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions, sponsored by Corona and AT&T and will be televised live on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING® beginning at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. Also featured will be a 12-round world championship showdown between WBC Super Bantamweight World Champion Victor Terrazas and former IBF Bantamweight World Champion Leo Santa Cruz. SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING is available in Spanish using secondary audio programming (SAP). Mares vs. Gonzalez is presented in association with Promociones Del Pueblo. Preliminary fights will air on SHOWTIME EXTREME®.

Tickets priced at $150, $75, $50 and $25, plus applicable taxes, fees and services charges, go on sale on Saturday, July 13 at 10:00 a.m. PT and will be available for purchase online at AXS.com, by phone at 888-9-AXS-TIX (888-929-7849) and at StubHub Center Box Office (Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. PT to 6:00 p.m. PT). The newest member of boxing’s pound for pound fraternity, Hawaiian Gardens, California’s Abner Mares (26-0-1, 14 KO’s) earned his spot there the hard way, battling through adversity and some of the best fighters in the world over the last eight years. A member of the 2004 Mexican Olympic team who originally hails from Guadalajara, Mares won his first world title in 2011 when he defeated Joseph Agbeko for the IBF Bantamweight World Championship. Mares won the WBC Super Bantamweight World Championship against Eric Morel less than a year later and, in May of 2013, the 27-year-old knocked out Daniel Ponce De Leon, capturing the WBC Featherweight World Championship. On August 24, he will look to add to his already stellar resume by defending his belt against Gonzalez.

A knockout puncher who has struck fear into the hearts of opponents for years, Mexico City’s Jhonny Gonzalez (54-8, 46 KO’s) is a fan favorite who has won world championships at bantamweight and featherweight while beating the likes of Mark Johnson, Fernando Montiel, Irene Pacheco and Mauricio Pastrana. Since moving to featherweight full-time in 2009, Gonzalez has gone 14-1 with 12 knockouts, with his only loss in the form of a technical decision to Ponce De Leon in September of last year. The winner of two straight who most recently scored a fourth round technical knockout win over Akihiko Katagiri, the 31-year-old veteran plans on testing Mares’ chin this August when he attempts to get the title which he lost to Ponce De Leon back.

Unbeaten in his last 11 bouts, Guadalajara’s Victor “Vikingo” Terrazas (37-2-1, 21 KO’s) is one of Mexico’s most underrated fighters, but with a win over Santa Cruz this August, the world will know his name. The owner of a 2011 win over Fernando Montiel, Terrazas won the WBC Super Bantamweight World Championship this past April by decisioning Cristian Mijares. On August 24, he makes his first defense.

Boxing’s latest action hero, 24-year-old Leo “Terremoto” Santa Cruz (24-0-1, 14 KO’s), of Los Angeles, made quite the impression in his super bantamweight debut in May, stopping Alexander Munoz in five rounds. It was a great start at 122 pounds for the former bantamweight king originally from Huetamo, Michoacan, Mexico, who successfully defended his belt three times over the span of three months before seeking bigger game at super bantamweight.

A full undercard will be announced shortly.

It´s on: Huck vs. Arslan II in Stuttgart, Germany on September 14!

marco-huck8
Team Sauerland can finally confirm that the hotly anticipated rematch between Marco Huck (36-2-1, 25 K.o.´s) and Firat Arslan (33-6-2, 21 K.o.´s) is official. The WBO Cruiserweight Champion takes on his mandatory challenger at the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle in Stuttgart, Germany. The pair will once again trade blows on September 14 in a fight that promises to be a real cracker.

Last time round, the two Germans met on November 3. Back then Huck won by a disputable unanimous decision (115-113, 115-113 and 117-111) at the Gerry Weber Stadion in Halle/Westphalia, Germany. Right after their thrilling encounter Arslan demanded a rematch.

“I still believe that I won our first fight. I should be the world champion”, said the former WBA Titlist who lives close to the city of Stuttgart. The 42-year-old cruiserweight recently defeated Varol Vekiloglu and therefore made the WBO mandatory status his own. “I won’t let my second chance to capture the crown just slip away. This is a fight right on my own home turf.”

For Huck, the second outing against Arslan is a question of honor. “I understand that Firat is disappointed. I was in the same position after I fought Alexander Povetkin. I saw myself as the winner in that match-up but the judges didn’t. That is exactly why I always said that I would give Firat a rematch even if he wasn’t my mandatory challenger.”

Frederick Ness, managing director of Team Sauerland, is also excited about the constellation of the championship bout. “This is one of the fights that was right at the top of every boxing fans wish list. Their first bout was full of drama and excitement. That is why I cannot wait for September 14.”

Tickets for the big fight night at the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle in Stuttgart, Germany will be available from this coming weekend onwards at www.eventim.de, www.easyticket.de and www.boxen.com.

GAMALIER RODRIGUEZ MAKES EAST COAST DEBUT AUG. 10, CONFIDENT OF VICTORY

Bethlehem, PA—When Gamalier Rodriguez defends his NABO featherweight championship against Jorge Pazos in the scheduled 10-round main event Saturday evening, Aug. 10, in the Events Center of the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem, it will mark his fourth fight in the United States, his first here in four years and his first-ever on the East Coast..

The Rodriguez-Pazos contest will be on Solo Boxeo Tecate, aired on UniMas. It headlines a seven-bout card. First live fight at 7 pm.

Rodriguez, of Bayamon, Puerto Rico, will be defending the title he won May 18 when he knocked out Alicio Castaneda, of Galveston, TX, in three rounds in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico.

Confident of victory, Rodriguez told soloboxeo.com’s Wilfredo Acevedo Rivera: “I have the discipline and the tools to beat anyone. I’ve never had any kind of vice. I’m hungry to be champion. I know boxing from A to Z. I had 100 fights in amateur boxing. I represented Puerto Rico many times and know what is fighting and what is boxing.”

If he wins impressively, Rodriguez could turn into something of a local hero in Bethlehem with the many Hispanic boxing fans who have been attending fights at the Sands.

Crowds have been strong, and local Hispanic stars such as Ronald Cruz, Jerome Rodriguez, William Miranda and Arturo Trujillo have given fans in the Lehigh Valley plenty to cheer about.

Rodriguez won the vacant NABO title when he overpowered Castaneda, scoring knockdowns in the first and third rounds before the fight was stopped at 1.06 of the third round.

A pro since 2006, the 26-year-old Rodriguez has a record of 21-2-3, 15 K0s. He has not lost a fight in four years, having won 13 in a row since having a technical draw in 2009.

Rodriguez has boxed once in Nevada, twice in California, 10 times in the Dominican Republic and 13 times in Puerto Rico.

As an amateur, Rodriguez was a Puerto Rican national amateur champion in four weight classes: 112, 119, 122 and 125 pounds. He started boxing at the age of 10.

Pazos, 24, of Guamuchil, Sinaloa, Mexico, is coming off a 12-round points loss last Oct. 19 to Orlando Cruz, of San Juan, Puerto Rico, in Kissimmee, FL, for the WBO Latino featherweight championship.

“He’s (Cruz) a boxer who moves too much,” Pazos said. “He knows how to box and he has good legs. I couldn’t get him.”

A pro since 2000, Pazos has a record of 19-5-1, 13 K0s.

The Puerto Rico vs. Mexico rivalry extends to the 10-round welterweight semifinal where Ronald Cruz, of Bethlehem takes on Rodolfo Armenta, of Los Mochis, Mexico.

MILLS LANE TO ATTEND NEVADA BOXING HALL OF FAME INDUCTION CEREMONY

LAS VEGAS, NEV. (July 11, 2013) — Former referee Mills Lane, who officiated many of the most famous matches in boxing history, has confirmed he will attend the
Induction Ceremony and Dinner of the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame, Saturday, August 10, at the Monte Carlo Las Vegas Resort and Casino. Lane is one of 19 honorees who will be inducted into the historic inaugural class of the NVBHOF.

Remaining tickets for the Inaugural NVBHOF Induction Dinner are available at the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame website: www.nvbhof.com.

Lane’s signature line, “Let’s Get It On” at the end of referee’s instructions to the fighters and their chief seconds, signaled it was fight time to fighters and fans alike. Lane refereed World Championship bouts throughout the 1970’s, ’80’s and ’90’s. His fellow inductee, former Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Marc Ratner said, “Whenever we assigned Mills Lane, we never had a second thought. A consummate professional, and a great referee, Mills is an even better person”.

Upon his retirement as a referee, Lane entered the world of promotion, founding “Let’s Get It On” Promotions. He then furthered his brand, becoming a TV reality star
in the show “Judge Mills Lane”. Unfortunately, he suffered a debilitating stroke in 2002, and has only rarely been seen in public since. However, Lane is making it a point to attend his induction into the NVBHOF.

Lane’s son Terry, who along with brother Tommy, now run “Let’s Get It On Promotions” said, “My dad feels honored to be inducted into the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame. It is even more special that he is part of the inaugural class. From fighting to refereeing, the vast majority of my Dad’s career in boxing took place in our great state. My Dad lives in Nevada. It is where he made his home, and boxing brought him here.”

Lane boxed at the college level for the University of Nevada in Reno. He served as Washoe County District Attorney and lives in Reno. He goes into the Hall in the
“Officials” category along with fellow Nevadan Joe Cortez

Lane was recently inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame at Canastota.

The Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame is an IRS 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt organization. Ticket sales to its events, purchases from, and donations to the NVBHOF are tax-deductible. Donations can be made by visiting the NVBHOF website: www.nvbhof.com. You can “like” NVBHOF on Facebook (facebook.com/nvbhof) and follow it on Twitter (@nvbhof). Juan Diaz to return on August 17th on Top Rank show

Juan Diaz
According to Dan Rafael of espn.com, Former Lightweight champion Juan Diaz will return on August 17th against Adailton DeJesis in Laredo, Texas under the Top Rank banner that will be televised bu UniMas.

“I feel good and, of course, I felt good getting the ‘W’ against Cuevas,” Diaz told ESPN.com on Wednesday. “I haven’t had that feeling of winning in a while. I had to find my balance. It took about three rounds to get comfortable and find my distance, but once I got the feel of being back in there I felt good. It went as planned and I won. I saw that I needed to take one or two more of those kind of fights.

“Clearly, Juan showed in that last fight that there’s a lot left,” said Carl Moretti of Top Rank, which signed Diaz to a one-fight deal. “This isn’t a guy doing it for the money. He’s successful outside the ring (as owner of a trucking company) and he’s a smart guy (as a college graduate). He still wants to fight and his style has always been fan-friendly. That hasn’t changed. We’re looking forward to the fight on Aug. 17 and then we’ll see where we go from there.”

“It’s a one-fight deal,” said Moretti, who was close to Diaz when he turned pro with Main Events, where Moretti worked for several years as its matchmaker. “I met with Juan and (adviser) Brian Caldwell in Dallas (last month) at the Mikey Garcia fight. I’ve known Juan since his pro debut and we have a great relationship.

“We’ll take it step by step, but I’m looking forward to working with him for this fight and, hopefully, beyond. He’s in a division that we have a lot of interest in and it seems like it will be an interesting division in the next year.”

“He’s lost against top-level opponents,” Diaz said. “He’s a strong fighter, a durable guy and this is a step up. That’s helpful for me. I don’t want to be in the sport to take a punch. I want to become champion again and by stepping up the level of opposition and being victorious, it shows me I still have a lot left in the tank.

“So far things are going according to plan. The ideal situation is I would love to fight two more times this year, Aug. 17 and then another one and then start 2014 fast, you know fight a top contender or a world champion.”

WORLD’S BEST CRUISERWEIGHT TO FACE THE DIVISION’S BEST KEPT SECRET

Eddie-Chambers1
UNCASVILLE, CT – Many believe that “Fast” Eddie Chambers, who is on the verge of his cruiserweight debut, is poised to prove himself to be the best 200-pounder in the world. However, in his inaugural step into the division, Chambers, 36-3, 18 KOs, is tasked with taking on the most dangerous cruiserweight that nobody knows, Thabiso “The Rock” Mchunu, 12-1, 9 KOs.

The pair will collide on the next edition of Fight Night on NBC Sports Network, Saturday, August 3rd, at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, CT. The fight is part of a blockbuster triple header that also features Curtis Stevens against Saul Roman and Tomasz Adamek versus Tony Grano. The telecast will begin at 10:30 PM EDT.

As a heavyweight, Chambers fought the best in the world, and the only criticism he ever drew was that he was just too small for the division. On the scales, he barely registered as a heavyweight, but in the ring he still managed to box his way to a trio of regional heavyweight belts and a crack at the world championship against Wladimir Klitschko.

Chambers

Now as a cruiserweight, Chambers’ days of spotting his opponents significant advantages in weight are over, and fans can only imagine how well the Philadelphian might do at the lower weight. A finesse artist throughout his career, Fast Eddie has the potential to out-box the entire crop of cruisers campaigning today. However, he’ll have a riddle to solve against the unknown Mchunu.

The South African southpaw makes his American debut against Chambers, but brings solid credentials into the fight. “The Rock” has won three African titles, been a cruiserweight his entire career, and sports an impressive 77% knockout ratio. But perhaps the best advantage he brings in against Chambers may be the mystery that surrounds him. Mchunu, 24, will be looking to take Eddie, 31, by surprise, and introduce himself to American fans in the process.

Mchunu
In addition to these story lines, it is the potential of the match itself that has boxing fans most excited, and some outlets calling this a “five star” fight. They say styles makes fights, and with Chambers’ speed and Mchunu’s power, it appears the 10-rounder shapes up as an ideal boxer-puncher match-up between two fighters looking to impress. And that is always a good thing.

FIGHT INFO: August 3rd “Three To See” card at Mohegan Sun, Uncasville, CT. In the main event Curtis Stevens and Saul Roman will clash for 10-rounds in a middleweight war. Also co-featured will be a 10-round cruiserweight battle between Eddie Chambers and Thabiso Mchunu. Heavyweight, Tomasz “Goral” Adamek will take on Tony Grano, Hartford, CT, 20-3-1, 16 KO’s, for 10-rounds.

NBC Sports Network Fight Night will telecast the August 3rd show beginning 10:30PM EDT.

Tickets are priced at $120 and $35 plus facility fees and can be purchased by calling Mohegan Sun Box office 860-862-8499 or through Ticketmaster. For ADA accessible sales, call Mohegan Sun Box Office at 860-862-8499.

Opponent Change: Fegatilli-Eronen set for August 23rd

Finnish southpaw Tuomo Eronen (11-2-0 4 KO’s) is the new opponent for Ermano Fegatilli (27-5-0 5 KO’s) on August 23rd at Gents Boksgala XII. Unfortunately, 37 year old Italian fighter Domenico Urbano had to pull out of the originally scheduled eight round attraction due to a sudden denouement in negotiations.

Is this a blessing in disguise? Ermano Fegatilli feels so. While Urbano was a challenge in the sense he is a seasoned former minor-level belt holder he constrained himself to the same type of challenge presented in Frenchman Karim Chakim – a fighter he easily disposed of in their March bout. It is also worth noting that Eronen is a Southpaw. Fegatilli is currently eyeing an October WBC elimination fight against Justin Savi as part of the WBC’s Super Featherweight tournament. Savi is also a southpaw. Fegatilli relizes he has much to learn before a possible world title shot; you must start somewhere.

Despite being 32 years old, Eronen lacks experience. He is still a novice of the sport an undoubtedly isn’t being positioned to shock Fegatilli. When thinking about defeating a fast handed ring-savvy fighter like Fegatilli, men like Eronen are often found uninitiated. His last stoppage victory was a 2009 leathering of Pascal Bouchez. This means nothing. At 28 years old and curving towards his physical peak Fegatilli has learned how to box his opponents. He realizes that this is his best and most functional way to win – this is how he will become the next great Belgian fighter and achieve his dream of becoming the first Belgian world champion.

In this fight, Fegatilli hopes to learn how to defeat a southpaw; will he have to keep his range, move laterally, and throw the quick right? Or will he have to corner them, work the body, and keep his opponent stationary? Eronen certainly doesn’t believe this – but he may just be a trial run for a determined contender.

Either way, Fegatilli recognizes the importance of every fight in the very midst of his career. He will need to prove himself to Eronen; he plans to assert himself as the better man in each and every round of the fight. In the end, he will leave as an even better fighter than he was before.

Salido to battle Cruz for Vacant Featherweight crown on Bradley – Marquez card

Orlando_Salido_2 (208x138)
According to Dan Rafael of espn.com, former Featherweight champion Orlando Salido will take on Orlando Cruz for a vacant Featherweight title on October 12th as part of the Timothy Bradley – Juan Manuel Marquez card in Las Vegas.

“We’re very happy to have this fight on the card,” said Top Rank’s Bob Arum. “Sean Gibbons (Salido’s manager) says there is no way Salido is losing and the other side says there is no way that Cruz doesn’t beat Salido because they say he is a shot fighter. I think it’s a good competitive fight and an interesting fight.”

“For Salido, he has fared well against southpaws from Puerto Rico [Lopez] and won’t be at all intimidated by the magnitude of this event,” Top Rank vice president Carl Moretti said. “For Cruz, this is clearly his toughest fight of his career. He is already a champion outside the ring for standing up and proclaiming his openness.”

Arum said Cruz being the first openly gay fighter is no issue for him and has nothing to do with how he will promote the fight.

“I couldn’t give a s— if he’s gay, straight, whatever,” Arum said. “I don’t even give it a second thought. We’re not going to make it part of our publicity. For me, it’s a non-issue. Who cares about his sexual orientation? I care if he can fight. When a guy first comes out of the closet, OK, so maybe it’s a story and I can see why it might be news. But once that happens, it’s not news any more as far as I am concerned.

“It’s a very good opportunity for us,” said All-Star Boxing promoter Tuto Zabala Jr., who promotes Cruz and said he signed the contract for the fight on Monday night. “It’s a great platform to be on. [Cruz] has been in training camp and will be in the best shape in his career. I believe Orlando has all the tools to defeat Salido and become the first gay fighter to win a world title.”

Haye – Fury is finally signed for September 28th

david-haye
In what will be a big Heavyweight fight, former Heavyweight and Cruiserweight champion David Haye will fight Tyson Fury on September 28th in Manchester, UK according to Dan Rafael of espn.com

“Tyson Fury and David Haye, both world-ranked, charismatic and dangerous, have agreed to a highly anticipated domestic showdown,” the statement read. “It marks not only the biggest heavyweight encounter of 2013, but also the biggest fight staged in Britain for many years.”

TONY THOMPSON READY TO TAKE ON ALL COMERS AFTER FINISHING BRIT DAVID PRICE FOR A SECOND TIME IN HIS OWN BACKYARD

(Washington, D.C.)—Tony “The Tiger” Thompson (38-3, 26KO’s) fresh off
his thrilling fifth round TKO victory over David Price (15-2, 13KO’s) is
now looking to move forward with his career with a renewed sense of vigor.
The heavyweight southpaw is now a free agent without a promoter and
entertaining all serious offers at this time. Thompson has also turned the
reigns of management over to his wife Sydnee Thompson, who will now
serve as the fighter’s full time manager/adviser.

“I wanted to take this opportunity to let people know that I am ready,
available and willing to listen to all serious offers at this time,” said
Thompson. “Beating Price in his own hometown twice decisively in a span
of 6 months should show the world that at 41 I still have a lot left in my
tank.”
After a loss to Wladimir Klitschko in 2012 and two back to back wins over
Price in 2013, Thompson thought that the time was right to make a change in
his career by adding his wife as manager/adviser.
“My wife has always played a prominent role in the shaping of my career.
She has been a part of every business decision I’ve made when it come to
my boxing career,” said Thompson. “So now instead of doing it from behind
the scenes she is going to be out front earning her part of the money. She’s
not only my boss at home but now she is my boss at work.”
