LIVE HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING MAKES AN EPIX RETURN ON NOVEMBER 10TH

NEW YORK (October 29, 2012) — Heavyweight championship boxing makes an EPIX return next month! World Heavyweight Champion WLADIMIR “Dr. Steelhammer” KLITSCHKO will defend his unified titles on Saturday, November 10, beginning at
4:30 p.m. ET / 1:30 p.m. PT, exclusively on EPIX, the multiplatform premium entertainment service. EpixHD.com will stream the fights live as part of a special free trial offer for boxing fans.
Klitschko, the World Boxing Association (WBA) Super heavyweight / International Boxing Federation (IBF) / World Boxing Organization (WBO) / International Boxing Organization (IBO) / The Ring magazine heavyweight champion, will battle 6’7 1/2 undefeated world-rated contender MARIUSZ “The Viking” WACH at the O2 World Arena in Hamburg, Germany. It is the first time the 6’6 Klitschko has ever rumbled with a taller opponent. It will also be the first fight since 2004 that Klitschko will not have Hall of Fame trainer Emanuel Steward in his corner. The telecast will include a tribute to Steward who passed away on October 25..
The telecast and live stream will also feature ROBERT “The Nordic Nightmare” HELENIUS risking his undefeated record and his march to a world title shot against battle-tested veteran SHERMAN “The Tank” WILLIAMS, live from the Helsinki Ice Hall in Helsinki, Finland.
These four gladiators boast a combined record of 137-14-2 (95 KOs) – a 90% winning percentage and a 69% victory by knockout ratio.
As has become the custom, EPIX will once again present the closed-captioned simulcast of this world championship rumble on its jumbotron in Times Square in New York City (Broadway between 44th and 45th Sts.)
“The big challenge for me is Wach’s height. It is the first time that I am facing an opponent who is taller than me and has a better reach,” said Klitschko. “He is unbeaten, a big puncher and has an irrepressible will. To fight in Hamburg once again is very special to me: I started my professional career here and last year Vitali’s and my dream to unify all heavyweight titles in the Klitschko family became true.”
“My fellow countrymen Adamek and Sosnowski did not have what it takes to beat a Klitschko. I am not a former cruiserweight but a real heavyweight,” said Wach. “Klitschko will take a lot of hard punches before I knock him out. I will be the first Polish world heavyweight champion!”
“I will be ready for the Tank,” said Helenius. “My shoulder has healed very well, my other arm has gotten much stronger now, so I will do damage with both hands. It´s great to make my comeback fight in Finland.”
“I look forward to coming to Finland. I will bring some sunshine to Helsinki. I have a special punch, the Conch Punch, an overhead right, and the Tank will catch Robert with that shot. That is my special weapon which will help me to win this fight,” said Williams.
“EPIX is very pleased to continue its exclusive live U.S. telecasts of championship boxing and the excitement of another Wladimir Klitschko World Heavyweight Championship defense. Klitschko’s dominance of the heavyweight division is a viewer magnet that keeps attracting U.S.-based fight fans and nurturing audience growth for the EPIX Sports boxing series,” said Travis Pomposello, EPIX CCO and executive producer of EPIX Sports.
Klitschko (58-3, 51 KOs), of Kiev, Ukraine, is a two-time world heavyweight champion. Wladimir began his first title reign in 2000 when he captured the WBO heavyweight title via a unanimous decision over defending champion Chris Byrd. Byrd suffered two knockdowns in that battle. Klitschko’s two-year title reign included five successful defenses – all by knockout – before losing the belt to Corrie Sanders in 2003. Klitschko returned to the world championship throne in 2006, this time as IBF champion, when he dethroned Chris Byrd in a title rematch. This victory was even more emphatic than the first one with Klitschko stopping Byrd in the seventh round. Since that fight, Klitschko has taken on and defeated all comers while unifying the title with victories over WBO champion Sultan Ibragimov, and WBA champion David Haye. He enters this fight riding an eight-year, 15-bout winning streak. His most recent victories were a fourth-round knockout of former two-time world champion Jean Marc Mormeck, on March 3, and a sixth-round stoppage of mandatory challenger Tony Thompson, on July 7. Both title defenses were televised live to the U.S. by EPIX.

Wach (27-0, 15 KOs), a native of Poland who fights out of North Bergen, NJ, enters his first world championship battle having won his last seven bouts by knockout, dating back to 2009. At 6’7, the two-time Polish amateur champion holds a one-inch height advantage over Klitschko, the first time the defending champion has not been the taller man in the ring. He captured the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) International heavyweight title last year via a fourth-round stoppage of Kevin McBride, the man who knocked out Mike Tyson into retirement. Wach successfully defended that title with sixth-round knockouts of Jason Gavern and Tye Fields, last November and March, respectively. Gavern and Fields had a combined record of 70-12-4 when they fought Wach.
Helenius (17-0, 11 KOs), a native of Finland who fights out of Berlin, Germany, boasts knockout victories of three former heavyweight champions, including Siarhei Liakhovich, Lamon Brewster and Samuel Peter, who were starched in nine, eight and nine rounds, respectively, between 2010 and 2011. Helenius returns to the ring for the first time since last December when he won a very close split decision over future world title challnger Dereck Chisora. Helenius, who entered that fight world-rated No. 1 by the WBO and No. 3 by the WBA and the IBF, retained his WBA and WBO Inter-Continental heavyweight titles and captured the vacant European Boxing Union (EBU) heavyweight championship. However surgery to his right shoulder and subsequent rehabilitation kept him sidelined. The inactivity also cost him his high world ratings. On a mission to gt back into the world title hunt, Helenius enters this fight having won 10 of his last 12 fights by stoppage.
Williams (35-11-2, 19 KOs), a native of the Bahamas, fights out of Vero Beach, Fla. Always ready, willing and able to meet the biggest challenges, Williams has faced former world champions Evander Holyfield, Ruslan Chagaev and Al Cole and highly-rated contenders Obed Sullivan and Jameel Kline. He enters this fight having won 10 of his last 12 fights.

Spectacular Thanksgiving Eve Boxing Event Planned for Final Hitz Boxing ‘Fight Night at the Horseshoe’ of the Year on Black Wednesday, November 21
Promoter Bobby Hitz of Hitz Boxing will continue his yearly tradition of doing a boxing event on Thanksgiving Eve with his final “Fight Night at the Horseshoe” instalment of the year on a very special date: Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Indiana.
Packed with local and international talent, Hitz’s remarkably popular Horseshoe shows never fail to deliver on action or old-school boxing glitz. Add in the fact that his annual Black Wednesday galas are “the place to be” in the Chicago every year on that day and a very special evening of world-class professional boxing is assured.
In the night’s eight-round main event, Hitz will unveil his new heavyweight contender, Andrey Fedosov (22-2, 18 KOs) the former WBC Youth Heavyweight Champion from Hollywood, California, via Shuya, Russia. In his Horseshoe debut, Fedosov will face comebacking former NABA Champion “Rockin” Rodney Moore (17-6-2, 7 KOs) from Houston, Texas.
Also scheduled for battle that night are a couple of undefeated area cruiserweights who love to mix it up, as Chicago’s Dimar “Strongman” Ortuz (5-0, 3 KOs) will return from his sensational victory over formerly undefeated Donta Woods at the last Horseshoe event to face UFC veteran and power-punching slugger Terry Martin (5-0, 5 KOs), also from Chicago. Given their styles and in-ring ferocity, the rugged pair is scheduled for six, but a distance fight is highly improbable.
In another notable six-round encounter, Chicago (via Lithuania) middleweight slugger Donatas Bondorovas (15-3-1, 4 KOs) will take on Evansville, Indiana’s “King” David Thomas (10-2-2, 8 KOs).
The huge undercard (12 bouts are scheduled in total) will feature such popular local names as promising super middleweight prospect Mike “Hollywood” Jimenez (7-0, 4 KOs), who will go six rounds, and Pacquiao sparring partner and undefeated knockout sensation Abdulai “The Classiq” Amidu (20-0, 17 KOs) also going six.
Also featured will be four-round fights for Frankie “Time Bomb” Scalise (4-1, 4 KOs), Genaro Mendez (4-1, 3 KOs), kickboxing and Golden Gloves champ Simon “The Punisher” Buettner (2-0, 2 KOs), Russell “Rocky” Fiore (6-2-1, 6 KOs) and, making their pro-debuts, “Irish” Jimmy Murphy and Jonathan Manos.
Complete match-ups will be announced shortly.
The high-class atmosphere and luxurious surroundings the Horseshoe has to offer make their boxing shows a Las Vegas-style night of boxing that Chicago-area fans don’t have to get on a plane to enjoy.
The Horseshoe Casino has an intimate, comfortable venue with luxurious seats, a spectacular gaming area, free parking, exquisite food and all the amenities — and is just 20 minutes from Downtown Chicago.
Tickets are priced at $90 Ringside & $40 Orchestra and available at all Ticketmaster outlets and ticketmaster.com.
All bouts are subject to change.
On fight night, doors open 6:00 pm and the action starts at 7:00.
Said Mbelwa arrives in Kabul, vows to knock out Rahimi in four
Only two days to go until middleweight contender Hamid Rahimi makes history by stepping into the ring for the first professional boxing event ever in his homecountry Afghanistan. “The whole country is so excited and looking forward to the “Fight 4 Peace”. It’s simply overwhelming”, says Rahimi who is followed by hundreds of fans to each interview and public appearance he had in the last couple of days.
But one man wants to crash the party and plans to do so in style. Rahimi’s opponent Said Mbelwa arrived in Kabul this weekend and made it very clear that he hasn’t come all the way from Tanzania to lose the “Fight 4 Peace”. “I give Hamid Rahimi and his team my respect for organizing this event and for doing what they’re doing”, said Mbelwa. “I understand that this is a very spezial event for Afghanistan and a very important message for the whole world. But once this bell rings it will be a boxing fight like any other. And I can promise you that I will be victorious. I am very well prepared and I am sure that I will knock out Rahimi in the fourth round.”
When Rahimi and his coach Balu Sauer heard about Mbelwa’s “promise” they had a very simple answer. “It’s good to know that he wants to knock Hamid out in the fourth round”, said Sauer on a press conference. “This means that we have to adjust our game plan, be faster than him and knock him out in three. It’s as simple as that!”
The “Fight 4 Peace” between Rahimi and Mbelwa takes place in Kabul on Tuesday, Ocober 30th, The 12 round middleweight bout will be for the vacant WBO international championship which will be labeled as “peace championship” for this spezial occasion. The main purpose of the event is to set a sign for peace and freedom in a country which has suffered from war and terrorism for almost fourty years.
“We want to show the people that sports can be more powerful and more influential than politics”, says Rahimi. “We want to give the people hope and something else to think about than war, terror and death. It’s very important to send a message to the world that we will not give in and keep on fighting for what’s right. Together we can achieve great things if we have faith and if we all “Fight 4 Peace”.”
After Away Win Billy Campbell looking forward to Home comforts
Originally pencilled in to make his professional debut at the last Prospect boxing Show on October 6th ,Billy Campbell boxed an entertaining 4 round exhibition fight against Martin McCord after his opponent pulled out at the last minute.
However still looking to make a competitive debut, the New Cumnock fighter was offered the chance to fight Joe Collins on a Dave Coldwell card in Manchester on the following Friday. While agreements for fights are usually made up to a few weeks before, this time the Welterweight only had 24 hours notice of the fight however came away with the a 39-38 points victory.
While making a professional debut, at 24 hours notice is not most fighters ideal preparation ,Campbell thrived on it seen and was still in shape “Making my pro debut away from home never bothered me in the slightest, a fight is a fight no matter were the ring is. I knew training had gone well and I was in great condition as I had been training for a fight the week before. In fact I would actually say there was less pressure to perform in front of friends and family and more pressure on Joe Collins”
Recalling the fight, the 1-0 fighter explains he thought it was going to be a quick nights work “I thought I was going to get an early stoppage about 30 seconds into the first round! I had him on the ropes, his legs looked wobbled but he survived the round. I learned a lot more from the fight though when it went the distance and the experience really will add to my arsenal”
Laughing he adds “Its definably the best fight I’ve been in so far! and was really happy getting the result”

Marco Huck: “The fans will witness one hell of a fight

WBO Champion Marco Huck is looking forward to the action in
Halle/Westphalia. His fight against former WBA Cruiserweight Champion Firat
Arslan promises to be a real highlight. Ahead of the big fight, the
27-year-old spent some time in Mallorca, Spain as well as in Neuruppin,
Germany and will present himself in great shape come November 3. And the
team surrounding the prodigy of coach Ulli Wegner is convinced, that they
did all they could to enable Huck to defend his title for the tenth time.
Huck took some time out of his preparations for Arslan for a Q&A.
Marco Huck, your last fight was back in May. After the bout, it was
announced that you would take a longer break, which you did. Was that the
right move?
Marco Huck: It definitely was. I didn’t really have a lot of time off ahead
of the May 5 fight in Erfurt, which showed during the bout. Now my batteries
are fully charged and I cannot wait to get back into the ring. I can feel
the itch in my fists. The fight against Afolabi wasn’t easy for me. In my
opinion that was due to the fact that I fought for the heavyweight
championship just a few months earlier which also was a tough fight. But at
the end, I got through it and kept my cruiserweight title. Now my whole
focus is on the tenth defence of the WBO Championship.
Your next opponent is Firat Arslan who you will face on November 3 who is a
former world champion. How dangerous is he?
Marco Huck: First of all, I have to say, that I really like Firat. He got
into boxing at a very late age but fought through all the odds. I have a lot
of respect for his accomplishments. Added to that, he is a very nice person.
This is a completely new situation for me. I didn’t like many of my former
opponents. But facing someone whom you appreciate for his success and his
attitude is an unusual scenario for me. I am not underestimating him at all.
I know for a fact that he would be a dangerous opposition for all the
cruiserweights out there. I actually believe that he would win against every
single world champion in this division – except of me. I will make sure that
he won’t. I’m not surprised that no one apart of me wanted to fight him in a
championship bout.
What did you pay special attention to during your preparations for Arslan?
Marco Huck: The training hasn’t really changed that much. The only
difference is that it is more intense which helped my ability to concentrate
during a though battle. It is harder to focus on something when you start
getting tired. I did quite well during training. Of course, it requires a
lot of self-discipline.
Another new situation for you must have been that the attention of coach
Ulli Wegner was pretty much just on you. Apart of Robert Helenius who joined
you in Neuruppin, none of your teammates was present at the training camps
in Mallorca and Brandenburg. How did you like that?
Marco Huck: To be honest I really enjoyed that and it shows how much the
coach appreciates me. If it would be up to me, it would always be like that.
That way you can focus more on the task at hand and the sessions are much
more intense. Nevertheless, my training group needs him to in order to be as
successful as me. And they need a great coach like Ulli Wegner to guide them
to the top. He even managed to get me to train when the lights at the gym
are already turned off.
Would you say that you are in the best shape of your life?
Marco Huck: I don’t really know at this point. I will be able to tell you
come November 3. However, I am sure it will turn out to be a convincing
victory for me. But I have to put on display what I have worked on during
the preparations. That is why I am looking forward to be fighting Firat
Arslan. The fans will be able to see for themselves if I have developed.
The fans can obviously expect a lot of you during the fight. But would you
also say that you have developed on a personal level over the last few
years?
Marco Huck: I let the people around me be the judge of that. I think that
you develop through all your past challenges and the tasks at hand, not just
on a professional but also a personal level. Nevertheless, I also believe
that many people have a wrong opinion of me and don’t see the person I
really am. My image is one of a badass who always speaks his mind. Of
course, there are other sides to me as well.
What will be the outcome of your fight against Firat Arslan?
Marco Huck: The fans will witness one hell of a fight. Many people might
have written off Firat Arslan but I certainly have not. Just the way he is
preparing himself for the fight against me is prove enough that he is going
to be one tough cookie. I have to beat him – there is no way around it. I
want to become the WBO Super Champion and in order to do so I need to be
victorious.
Tickets for the show at the Gerry Weber Stadion in Halle/Westphalia are

The better fighters cost a lot of money and I’m not in that position yet. I’m ready to step up.

Abregu shocks Dulorme in seven
Luis Carlos Abregu scored a mild upset when he stopped previously undefeated super prospect Thomas Dulorme by scoring a seventh round stoppage in a scheduled ten round Welterweight bout at the Turning Stone Resort in Verona, New York
Dulorme came out showing superior speed with the jab. In round three, Abregu shocked everyone when he landed a big right hand that sent Dulorme to the canvas for the first time in his career. Abregu tried to close the show and landed a few more hard shots that staggered Dulorme but the Puerto Rican was able to make it through the round. Dulorme steadied himself a little bit in round four from the southpaw stance.
Abregu came back to have a solid round six as he featured a couple quality right hands. In round seven, Abregu landed a hug right that sent Dulorme back. Abregu chased Dulorme and landed a flurry of punches that was culminated by a right to the head that sent Dulorme to the deck for a second time. Dulorme got to his feet but his corner stopped the bout at 2:38 of round seven.
Abregu, 147 1/2 lbs of Salta, ARG is now 34-1 with twenty-eight knockouts. Dulorme, 147 lbs of Carolina, PA is now 16-1.
“He was too young and maybe with time he’ll become a better fighter,” said Abregu. “He couldn’t get away from my right hand and I knew at some point he was going to get caught with it. As you can see he did and his corner stopped the fight.”
“I didn’t want them to stop the fight but I respect their decision because they were looking out for me.” Dulorme stated. “I was controlling the fight but he caught me with a good punch but I came up and I was ok. I’ll take this experience and learn from it.”
Karim Mayfield scored a ten round unanimous decision over Mauricio Herrera in a Jr. Welterweight bout.
The fight was slow paced until round seven when Mayfield started getting through with some hard power shots. Herrera showed a good chin and walked through the punches. Mayfield landed some more power shots in the next frame which Herrera took well.
Even though Herrera was the busier fighter, it was the power shots of Mayfield that proved to be the difference as Mayfield won by scores of 98-92, 97-93 and 96-94.
Mayfield, 140 lbs is now 17-0-1. Herrera of Riverside, CA is now 18-3-1.
“My conditioning was good and I neutralized his punch output with my smothering,” said Mayfield. “I didn’t get hit with too many big shots and I’m happy with the win. Next time I step into the ring I’m going to pick up my punch count.”
“I felt I was landing the better shots on the inside,” Herrera said. “I felt I won the fight but the judges weren’t scoring the body shots I was landing in the trenches. I’ll be back
Miguel Vazquez made the fifth defense of the IBF Lightweight title with a split decision over Marvin Quintero.
It was a tactical bout with Quintero coming forward and Vazquez boxing and moving. Alot of the rounds were very close and neither man was able to seize any type of control.
Vazquez, 135 lbs of Guadalajara, MX won by scores of 118-110, 116-112 while Quintero won a card 115-113. Vazquez is now 32-3. Quintero, 133 3/4 lbs is now 25-4.

JORGE MAYSONET JR. REMAINS UNDEFEATED WITH FIRST DESTRUCTION
In the feature bout of the evening, scheduled for 8 rounds in the lightweight division, Jorge “Machito” Maysonet Jr., (10-0, 9 KOs) demolished Ramesis Gil (8-5-5, 5 KOs) by way of a first round KO.
From the beginning of the fight, Maysonet came out very aggressive, connecting with left and right hooks to the face and body of Gil, who went down on three occasions. The referee seen that Gil was unstable to continue and the fight was halted at the 1:23 mark. Maysonet has recorded multiple first round knockous and many critics are saying he could be the next super-star to come out of Puerto Rico.
“Earlier this year, Ramesis was victorious against very good unbeaten fighters, but he had never faced someone like me as you can see by the results,” said Maysonet who is promoted by Warriors Boxing, Universal Promotions and Gary Shaw Productions. “Tonight’s knockout victory shows my talent is for real and my goal is to bring excitement to my fans in Puerto Rico. The entire lightweight division better take notice because I’m coming to conquer.”
In the co-feature bout at 122 pounds, Edgardo “Eggie” Laboy (5-0, 2 KO’s) defeated Jonell “Gato “Nieves (4-1, 3 KOs) by unanimous decision in a very exciting encounter. The judges’ scorecards were 40-36 twice and 39-37, all in favor for Laboy. Laboy was the aggressor during the fight and landed the better shots, but Nieves fought back hard, and made the fight interesting. Those who were present witnessed a great fight.
“I went against a strong opponent, stronger than expected, and I didn’t think he was going to go the distance with all the shots I was landing.” said Laboy who is promoted by Universal Promotions and Gary Shaw Productions. “However, in this sport to dominated, you have to use your technique, and thanks to God, we did exactly that.”
In other results, Steven Martínez (13-1, 10 KOs) beat Edgar Pérez (5-1, 3 KOs) by unanimous decision. All three judges’ scorecards read 59-55. Also, Edwin “Puto” Rodríguez (2-0, 2 KOs) defeated Alberto Vélez (0-5) by way of knockdown in the first round, as did Kenneth Rivera (3-1, 2 KOs) against Pedro Agosto (0-6) and Miguel “el Gallo” Marrero (7-0, 4 KOs) vs. Leroy Padilla (1-8, 1 KOs) and Emmanel” Pirata” De Jesús (2-0, 2 KOs) vs. Eduarod Adorno (2-17, 1 KO).
Team Puerto Rico……….the new wave, once again making a splash…..
Firat Arslan: “We tried to break the mould
People can expect a real fight to happen at Gerry Weber Stadium come
November 3. Cruiserweight World Champion Marco Huck (34-2-1, 25 KOs) will
try to defend his beloved belt for the tenth time to gain
Super-Champion-Status of the World Boxing Organization. In contrast, his
challenger Firat Arslan (32-5-2, 21 KOs) could again rise to stardom, as he
was already the WBA World Champion at this weight class. In the following
interview, he speaks about his chances to sink Capt’n Huck’s Battleship.
Firat Arslan, how did you prepare for the fight against Marco Huck?
Firat Arslan: I sparred more rounds in training than ever before. I had ten
sparring partners – normally before a fight, I just sparred with three or
four. I also raised the intensity as I finished my training camp having
absolved 160 rounds of sparring compared to 80, which I did back in the day.
This should give me more flexibility in the fight. But one is thing for
sure, nobody can copy Marco Huck. There is a reason why he is the current
WBO Champion. But the guys I sparred with were all young and eager to prove
a point. I can confirm that they did a great job.
Are there other things you changed during the preparation?
Firat Arslan: We tried to break the mould for the most important fight in my
career. We used a special heavy bag that enabled me to work on my accuracy.
I also had a special training tool to strengthen my lungs. I know that some
boxing experts have already written me off but on November 3, I will try to
prove them wrong.
Which critics do you mean?
Firat Arslan: I am honest. I am already 42 years of age and some people
think I only took this fight because of the money, but that is definitely
not the case. I did not try to make a big profit out of it. It is just about
the sport. I believe in becoming a world champion again and I know that I am
on top of my game. That is why I wanted this fight. I want to fight the best
and Marco Huck certainly is one of the best. I am looking forward to this
bout.
Did you have any other opportunities to fight?
Firat Arslan: There were some other possibilities to fight but it is my aim
to fight for a world championship. Those other options would have got me to
where I want to be. Marco Huck is a big name on the boxing scene, so this
fight makes sense for me. I have a lot of respect for him – respect I don’t
have for the other champions in the cruiserweight division, as they do not
want to face me.
Please tell us about your strategy for the fight on November 3.
Firat Arslan: Marco Huck is one of the biggest punchers in this weight class
and he is 15 years younger than me. Nevertheless, I am going for the win. I
promise to fight my heart out, which is my mentality. I think that I have a
big advantage over him as my teams focus is completely on me. When you are
with a big boxing promotion, there is often only one coach who looks after a
handful of athletes. Moreover, I do not think that there is a more
professional surrounding than where I train. I want to win. Everything else
I will show inside the ring.
It is common knowledge that rivals in boxing are not friendly with each
other. Therefore, it comes as a surprise that Marco Huck and you have mutual
appreciation for each other.
Firat Arslan: This is true. Maybe Marco does not come across as a good guy –
but in reality he is. That is the sport of boxing. When you have the chance
to make such a fight you have to go for it. There is only one person I would
never step into the ring with: Luan Krasniqi. He is like a brother to me.
What kind of a fight do you expect at Gerry Weber Stadium?
Firat Arslan: I am confident that it will be a great fight. Marco has an
unorthodox style which I have to deal with. But that is nothing new to me. I
am prepared for everything, regardless of what he will do inside the ring. I
know what to do and will force my own style on him. It will be firm but
fair. That is what I also expect of Marco as we both respect each other.
This will be a virtual home match for Marco Huck. How will you deal with
that?
Firat Arslan: Of course most of the fans will be cheering for him. However,
we cannot expect him to come to my backyard. We are prepared for that
situation, so it will not bother me. I have been part of this business for
such a long time so I know that it will only be Marco, the referee and me
inside the ring. Then the fists will do the talking, not the crowd!
Would you retire, if you should lose the fight against Marco Huck?
Firat Arslan: Losing is not on my mind, so I haven’t even thought about
that.
You will have to wait until after the bout to get your answer.
And if you are going to win? Would that be a reason for you to hang up the
gloves?
Firat Arslan: I believe in winning this fight. I am in top shape. And as
long as I have the ability to fight on such a level, I do not think about
retirement. I could still have some title defences as a world champion,
ending my career on a high. But this will all be decided come November 3.

The Ultimate Fighter Fridays – Episode 7 Summer Camp Flash Quotes
Las Vegas, Nevada – One of the season’s most recent feuds was settled in the Octagon® on Friday as Canadian Michael Hill defeated Matt Secor with a split decision win on The Ultimate Fighter® Fridays episode seven – ‘Summer Camp’ – that aired on FX.
After a heated argument in the house, the rivals finally got to settle their differences where it matters. And the victory – the second in a row for Coach Roy Nelson’s team – ties the series at three each after six preliminary bouts. Team Nelson eradicated the previous two-win lead held by Coach Shane Carwin’s team, and it is all to play for heading into episode eight.
Hill, 25, from Kelowna, British Colombia, is the first of two Canadian contestants this year to compete in the Octagon. While a winner in his fight, the former personal trainer, who is 4-0 in his professional mixed martial arts career, was dissatisfied by his performance.
“After my fight I felt embarrassed. I felt like I let everybody down, from Dana White, to the producers, my teammates and my country. I think everyone wanted to see Matt Secor’s mouth shut. I have never ever felt that pressure or jitters before. It was like I forgot everything I’d learned to this day. I just froze.
“It’s the worst feeling ever, to know that that fight would be talked about all season, and once I got out of the house, on TV worldwide. I have so much to improve on. Every fight can’t be pretty but you do what you can to win, and one thing’s for sure I won’t ever give up.”
Fighting out of South Glen Falls, NY, Secor, 25, has always been into thrill-seeking sports, even taking up snowboarding when he was only four years old. The 3-1 MMA fighter and movie buff was disappointed but not discouraged with his TUF result.
“I felt mad because of the loss. I was mad because my hand was broken and that I got robbed. I wish that my hand didn’t break. When something like that happens in a fight it makes the fight change completely. I was trying to finish but I couldn’t use my right hand at all. The mood on Team Carwin didn’t change after my loss because obviously I won that fight, it was more that everyone was pissed at the judges than anything else.”
Tickets for The Ultimate Fighter® Finale on Dec. 15 at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas are on sale and priced at $304, $254, $179, $154, $104 and $79. To purchase tickets or for more information, visit the Hard Rock Box Office, all Ticketmaster locations, www.ticketmaster.com, www.thejointlasvegas.com or charge-by-phone at 800.745.3000.

TEON KENNEDY, JERRY BELMONTES COLLIDE IN 10-ROUND JUNIOR LIGHTWEIGHT BOUT ON DEC. 8 NBC SPORTS NETWORK CARD PEARSON/McGONIGLE HALLS AT TEMPLE UNIVERSITY
Philadelphia, PA-Former world-title challenger Teon Kennedy, of Philadelphia, and undefeated Jerry Belmontes, of Corpus Christi, meet in a 10-round junior lightweight contest on Saturday evening, Dec. 8, at Pearson/McGonigle Halls on the campus of Temple University. The fight will be part of the NBC Sports Network Fight Night show.
Topping the show will be another Philadelphian, Bryant “By By” Jennings, who defends his USBA heavyweight championship against Bowie Tupou, of Tongo, in a scheduled 12-round contest.
The eight-fight live card begins at 7pm and the NBCSN broadcast will begin at 9PM ET.
“Teon no longer can fight as a super bantamweight,” said promoter J Russell Peltz. “He has had trouble making 122 pounds for more than a year and he feels more comfortable at 130. He wants to make a run at junior lightweight and he picked a formidable foe in Belmontes, who has not lost in 17 pro fights.”
Main Events CEO, Kathy Duva, said “This is a classic “crossroads” situation for both fighters. Belmontes is the new guy, trying to make a name for himself while Kennedy is at an entirely different kind of crossroads in his career as he reinvents himself in a higher weight class.”
Kennedy. 26, has not boxed since June 9 when he was stopped in five rounds in Las Vegas, NV, by Guillermo Rigondeuax, of Cuba, in their scheduled 12-round bout for Rigondeaux’ WBA super bantamweight title.
A pro since 2007, Kennedy has a 17-2-2 record with seven knockouts. He is a former USBA super bantamweight champion and has wins over Jorge Diaz, of New Brunswick, NJ, and over Jose Angel Berranza and Alex Becerra.
Teon Kennedy
Kennedy is happy to be back in Philly, “It’s a great opportunity to fight on this card in Philly, cause I can showcase my skill again on TV…and when I win, it will put me me back where I need to be.”
Belmontes, 23, is 17-0, 5 K0s. Known as the “Corpus Christi Kid”, Belmontes was an amateur superstar in Texas, and has dispatched seventeen straight opponents since turning professional in 2008.
In his last fight on Sept. 8 at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ, Belmontes earned an eight-round unanimous decision over Joselito Collado, of Jamaica, Queens, NY. In May of this year he easily outpointed Ramesis Gil in 8 rounds in Pharr,TX.

This will be Belmontes’ second fight on the East Coast. Belmontes immediately jumped at the opportunity to take this fight with no concern about being in Kennedy’s backyard, “Hell yeah, I’ll take the fight! Fans are really going to like this one. I have watched all of Kennedy’s fights on TV. I have a lot of confidence I’ll get the ‘W’.”

25-year-old southpaw Fernando Guerrero (24-1, 18 KO’s) has made a steady climb back into world title contention at 160 pounds after suffering the lone loss of his career to Grady Brewer at junior middleweight in June of 2011. Since then, the all-action fighter from Salisbury, Maryland has stopped Robert Kliewer and Jason Naugler and nearly shut out Jose Medina, making a statement to the fight world that he’s ready for a big finish to 2012 and an even bigger 2013.
Buenaventura, Colombia’s Juan Carlos “J.C.” Candelo (32-11-4, 21 KO’s) has won five of his last six bouts, including victories over Chase Shields and highly regarded prospect Justin Flanagan. The respected veteran has battled some of the best the game has had to offer including Winky Wright, Kassim Ouma and Vernon Phillips. Now, he is eager to add a world title to his resume and the 38-year-old knows that his last run for the gold can only begin should he defeat rising star Guerrero.
Detroit’s J’Leon Love (13-0, 7 KO’s) has an intriguing mix of speed, power and style in the ring, making him one of the top boxers to watch in the coming years. He had an impressive 115-5 record as an amateur and the 25-year-old has been unstoppable as a professional, winning all 13 of his bouts in impressive style. Already 4-0 in 2012, Love avenged an amateur loss against Ramon Valenzuela Jr. in September and he’s back on November 3 to display his talents again.
An opponent for Love and a full undercard will be announced shortly. FORMER WORLD CHAMPION AND NOW RESURGENT CONTENDER DEMARCUS “CHOP CHOP” CORLEY LOOKS TO PLAY THE ROLE OF SPOILER ONCE AGAIN SQUARES OFF AGAINST UNBEATEN VIKTOR POSTOL
New York, NY/ Kiev, Ukraine (10/26/12) – Tomorrow night at the Club Sportlife Arena in Kiev, Ukraine, former world champion and now resurgent contender DeMarcus “Chop Chop” Corley (39-19-1, 23KO’s) will once again enter into enemy territory and look to play spoiler for the third consecutive bout when he takes on unbeaten prospect Viktor Postol (19-0, 9KO’s) in a 12-round light welterweight matchup for Postol’s WBC international light welterweight title.
Since signing with DiBella Entertainment, Corley has put together back-to-back upset wins. First, he defeated previously unbeaten Gabriel Bracero in New York in January and most recently, in May, he knocked out world title challenger Paul McCloskey in McCloskey’s native Ireland. Now, Corley will look to make it three in a row when he takes on the Ukrainian Postol.
“I’m really looking forward to this fight and putting on a great performance tomorrow night,” said Corley. “I have seen some video of him and I know that he is a tall, long guy, but that doesn’t worry me. It is nothing that I haven’t seen before. That being said, I don’t plan on this fight going the distance. I didn’t come here to go 12 rounds and leave the scoring in the judges’ hands. I know how it is when you come into someone’s backyard. I have been here before, and I know that the best way to take care of business is to score a knockout and that’s exactly what I plan on doing. I am going to finish first and finish last. That’s the game plan in this fight and from here on out. I would love to fight Danny Garcia after this, but I am willing to fight any of the top guys or champions from 135-140 pounds.”
At 38 years old, with a career that has spanned 16-plus years, the former WBO light welterweight champion Corley has fought everyone from lightweight to welterweight, including former or current world champions Floyd Mayweather Jr., Miguel Cotto, Zab Judah, Randall Bailey, Junior Witter, Devon Alexander and Marcos Maidana. Corley has also been in the ring with current world-rated contenders Thomas Dulorme, Lucas Matthysse and Ruslan Provodnikov.

SUPERSTAR RICKY “THE HITMAN” HATTON RETURNS TO SHOWTIME® SATURDAY, NOV. 24, LIVE AT 5 P.M. ET/PT

NEW YORK (Oct. 26, 2012) – Former Two-Time World Champion and British superstar Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton returns to SHOWTIME® for his first fight in 3½ years when he faces former WBA welterweight titleholder Vyacheslav Senchenko on Saturday, Nov. 24, at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England, live at 5 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast).
The scheduled 10-round welterweight fight will be a special, afternoon edition of SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING followed by a replay that night on SHOWTIME EXTREME®.
This will be the first comeback fight for Hatton, the offensive-minded 34-year-old slugger, since he retired following his loss to Manny Pacquiao on May 2, 2009, with a record of 45-2 with 32 KOs.
Senchenko (32-1, 21 KOs) is a risky opponent who went undefeated in 31 fights before losing the WBA Welterweight World Title to Paulie Malignaggi in his most recent outing last April 29. The bout in Hatton’s hometown will be only the third professional Senchenko fight outside his native Ukraine.
“This is a very dangerous opponent for a so-called comeback fight,” said Stephen Espinoza, Executive Vice President and General Manager of SHOWTIME Sports. “Ricky is showing us that he wants to challenge himself and immediately put himself back in the mix with the top 147 pounders. There are a number of exciting matchups in this division, and with a win Ricky will be right back in upper echelon of the division.”
One of Britain’s all-time most popular fighters, the crowd-pleasing Hatton is a former IBF and WBA 140-pound champion and WBA 147-pound titlist. Eighteen thousand tickets were purchased for the Nov. 24 event even before an opponent was announced.
Hatton battled depression, suicidal thoughts and ballooning weight after going into a self-imposed exile following the loss to Pacquiao three-and-a-half-years-ago.
“People ask if I should come back, will I win, can I be world champ again. They don’t get it,’’ Hatton said. “I’ve already won. I’m here. I saved myself. The end of the ‘Ricky Hatton Story’ was not being knocked out by Pacquiao. I’m looking forward to getting back in the ring and showing what I can do. I want to get back in the title mix, but you can’t do that by taking easy fights. That’s why I’m taking on this guy.’’
Hatton will be fighting for the 10th time on SHOWTIME, and the seventh time on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING (he fought three times on ShoBox: The New Generation). He registered the most noteworthy victory of his career in his last appearance on the network when he captured the IBF 140-pound title with an 11th-round TKO over Hall of Famer Kosta Tszyu on June 4, 2005, in Manchester.
If triumphant on Nov. 24, his first fight in 42½ months, Hatton could be looking at several high-profile return bouts in the near future, including a rematch with Malignaggi, the current WBA welterweight champion, who Hatton defeated via 11th-round TKO on Nov. 22, 2008.
With a victory, Hatton would also keep alive his chances for much-desired return bouts against the only two fighters who beat him, Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather.
