STOCKTON, Calif. (Nov. 2, 2022): Toscano Boxing Promotions returns on December 17 as middleweight warrior Quilisto Madera (13-3, 9 KOs) takes on Hector Manuel Zepeda (21-5, 7 KOs) in an eight-round main event at the Stockton Memorial Civic Auditorium in Stockton, California. 

The fight will headline a full card of action that will be streamed live on FightHype. 

“We’re ready to close the year with an action-packed show,” said Jorge Toscano, CEO and Founder of Toscano Boxing Promotions. “Quilisto Madera is a hometown favorite who has developed a reputation for delivering exciting, action-packed fights. We’ll also have local favorites Manuel Jaimes, Ector Madera, Irving Xilohua and many more. We expect a packed house at the Civic Auditorium.” 

Madera is a 30-year-old native of Stockton, California who has fought as a professional since October of 2014. In his last nationally televised fight, he faced Jose Armando Resendiz in a back-and-forth brawl that saw him lose via a controversial split decision in April of 2021. Madera then returned later that year to stop Roberto Vazquez via third-round technical knockout and is now ready to headline in front of a hometown crowd. 

Zepeda is a 25-year-old native of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico who has been in the ring with fighters such as Sebastian Fundora, Carlos Molina and Steven Butler. Despite being younger than Madera, Zepeda is very experienced and the style matchup promises to make this fight a toe-to-toe war.

In the co-main event, Manuel Jaimes (12-1-1, 10 KOs) of Stockton, California looks to bounce back from his only loss in an eight-round lightweight battle against Ricardo Lopez Torres (16-5-3, 11 KOs). Jaimes is a slick boxer who has also been able to show knockout power. He’ll look to regain momentum in this fight as he begins to climb the rankings in a very stacked division. 

The following undercard bouts are also scheduled to take place:

·      Arturo Popoca (5-0-1, 4 KOs) of Riverside, California will take on Alexis De Luna (10-0, 5 KOs) of Bakersfield, California in a six-round battle between undefeated prospects.

DENNIS MCCANN PROMISES his forthcoming opponent, Joe Ham, is going to ‘feel the power’ when they go into battle with the Commonwealth super bantamweight title at stake on November 26 at the 02 Arena, live on BT Sport.

McCann (13-0, 7 KOs) is going for a hattrick of title belts at the glitzy London venue that also staged his second fight as professional back in July 2019, having in his last two fights also claimed the WBO Youth super bantamweight title and the WBC International Silver belt at featherweight.

The 21-year-old features on a card headlined by the WBO Interim world super middleweight showdown between Zach Parker and John Ryder, that also sees Hamzah Sheeraz and his iBox Gym teammates Sam Noakes and Pierce O’Leary in championship action.

Gorbals man Ham (17-3, 6), a former decorated amateur, is expected to increase the risk level for the richly talented Maidstone youngster, but McCann suspects he is a box of tricks Ham won’t have encountered before.

“He is an ex-Team GB fighter and has boxed all around the world, but he hasn’t met Dennis the Menace yet or fought anyone like me,” insisted the super-slick southpaw.

“When he feels the power he is not going to like it, trust me.”

The tests are, supposedly, getting tougher for the always-confident McCann, who emphatically defeated the more seasoned James Beech jr last time out in July.

Beech believed size and experience would count in his favour at the Copper Box Arena, but McCann set about the West Midlander right from the off and put him to the canvas before choosing to settle down and take a more calculated approach before ending the fight in the eighth.

He admits he was told there was no rush by his trainer and mentor Alan Smith, but had already figured out himself that Beech would enjoy a second wind after weathering the early storm.

“He did, but I am a clever kid and I can read fights so I realised he had recovered a little bit,” McCann explained. “I class myself as a world class fighter so I took my foot off the gas a little bit and broke him down knowing I would get him out of there later on.

“I reckon it was my best win, you’ve got to remember that kid is a natural featherweight, really, and has been up as far as super feather, so I thought I did well and got the job done, as I said I would.

“I told everyone I was going to stop him, I don’t tell lies and I got him out.”

Although McCann fought for a featherweight title, the limit was set in between super bantam and feather, but he confirms an increase in poundage from his former home at bantamweight was a welcome one.

“I felt strong, I felt very, very strong. I weighed in at 55.8kg, which is only half a kilo over the super bantamweight limit. Of course it was easier, us fighters love getting a little allowance! If I was fighting at middleweight I would make it hard for myself, that is fighters for you.

“I feel I am punching a lot harder, my manpower is starting to come now. I am wobbling people, hurting people and breaking people down. And I am finding it hard to get sparring partners because of it!”

NEW YORK (November 1, 2022) -Seven Split-T Management fighters had their hand raised in fights throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.

Wednesday night in Puerto Rico, Willito Ortiz stopped Bryan Rodriguez in the opening round of their super lightweight bout. Ortiz landed some hard shots that put Rodriguez to the canvas. Rodriguez had enough as he sat on his knee and took the full count of 10 at 2;05.

Ortiz of Bayamon, Puerto Rico is 1-0 with one knockout.

Saturday in San Diego, Asa Stevens remained undefeated with a four-round unanimous over Mychaquel Shields in a super bantamweight bout.

Stevens of Waianae, Hawaii won by scores of 40-35 on all cards, and is now 3-0. Shields was making his pro debut.

Stevens is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions.

In Philadelphia, heavyweight Sonny Conto remained undefeated with a second round stoppage in a scheduled six-round main event at the 2300 Arena.

Bryant shot right out of his corner, and went after Conto. The Philadelphia native engaged in a back and forth brawl and dropped Bryant with a hard left hand just before the bell sounded to end the opening frame. In round two, Conto continued to pound away until Bryant was weary, and the fight was stopped by the corner at 2:13.

Conto of Philadelphia is now 11-0 with nine knockouts. Bryant of Pittsburgh is 6-2.

Brady, Johnson and Conto are promoted by Top Rank.

In Milwaukee, two more Split-T fighters got victories on a card at The Tripoli Shrine Center.

Rolando Vargas of Milwaukee moved to 8-1 with a split decision win over Charles Garner (6-2) in a junior welterweight bout.

Javier Zamarron made an explosive pro debut with an opening round knockout of Ahmond Rayshaun Oates in a featherweight bout.

Zamarron of Sheboygan, Wisconsin dropped Oates three times before the fight was finally halted in the opening frame.

“I’ve had a full training camp, which in my career has not been all that often, so given the amount of time and preparation I have had, I know I am ready. I trained so hard that I know I’ll be able to go the full twelve rounds with ease. My plan is to get the stoppage before the final bell rings.” 

On his matchup with Correa:

“He is a good boxer and very respectful. I think he knows that he is in for a tough fight and that since 2018, no one has had an easy fight with me. I think he will look to box, but I have trained hard to maintain a fast, explosive pace that will force him to fight me or fatigue. Either way, I know the fans are in for a good show based on this match-up. I won’t let him make this a boring fight, as I’ll be coming at him with a ton of pressure.”

“My record doesn’t look great, but I have some big wins against some good fighters. Beating a top guy like Eros Correa gives me a chance to lands some bigger fights. The Boxing world is mourning the passing of manager Rich Masini. Masini of Holmdel, New Jersey passed away on Sunday after battling an illness.

Masini was 56 years-old and was a fixture on the New Jersey / Pennsylvania boxing circuit. He managed fighters such as heavyweight John Lennox, super middleweight Gabriel Pham, cruiserweight Jaywon Woods, junior welterweight’s Anthony “Juice” Young and Danny Murray.

Masini also helped a lot of local promoters put on shows.

“I was introduced to Rich Masini through a mutual friend Paul Pape in 2011 at the Paul Williams vs Erislandy Lara fight at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, his Heavyweight Boxer John “The Breed” Lennox was fighting on the undercard. I had Anthony “Juice” Young attending with me that night. Rich and I spoke about me training John Lennox and Rich managing Anthony Young’s career. From there we began a friendship as well as a partnership working together to develop and guide the careers of “The Breed” John Lennox, Anthony “Juice” Young, Jaywon Woods, Gabriel Pham and Dan Murray. Rich Masini was a hard working and passionate manager that believed wholeheartedly in his fighters and would go the extra mile to help them in and out of the ring. His presence and voice will be dearly missed in our boxing community. My prayers and condolences go out to his wife Joanne and his son Richie and his entire family during this time of great loss.,” said Ray McCline, President of The Atlantic City Boxing Hall of Fame and confidant to Masini

“Rich was one of a kind and a great friend and mentor. He will be deeply missed around the boxing world,” said middleweight contender / promoter Thomas LaManna.

A bronze medalist at the 2004 Olympic Games, Dirrell (28-3, 18 KOs) rose to the top of the super middleweight division during an impressive run in his career that included a victory over  then-unbeaten Arthur Abraham and decision defeats to Carl Froch and James DeGale. The Flint, Michigan-native has won back-to-back fights via knockout since moving up to light heavyweight, stopping Christopher Brooker most recently in July 2021. He takes on Cuba’s Gonzalez (21-4, 17 KOs), who has challenged top light heavyweights including Gilberto Ramirez, Oleksandr Gvozdyk and Jean Pascal. Now fighting out of Miami, Gonzalez won three-straight bouts before losing to Ramirez in a December 2021 slugfest.

Philadelphia’s Williams (27-3-1, 16 KOs) became a unified world champion at 154-pounds in May 2019 when he upset Jarrett Hurd in one of the year’s best fights, winning a close-quarters brawl by unanimous decision. The 32-year-old dropped the titles in his first defense, losing to Jeison Rosario in January 2020, before coming up on the short end of a narrow decision to Vladimir Hernandez in October 2021. He will take on Mansilla of Parana, Entre Rios, Argentina, Mansilla , who looks to rebound from back-to-back defeats against Cesar Mateo Tapia in May and Derrick Colemon Jr. in September. Mansilla (18-11-1, 8 KOs) has fought professionally since 2013 and was unbeaten in his first 11 fights.

A pair of 8-round title fights for vacant Massachusetts State Championships, both featuring local favorites, will certainly draw the spotlight. I want to be a world champion, and this was a world championship camp.”

“ You cannot look past anyone, and I’m taking this fight with Saavedra like it’s the biggest fight in my career, because it is being that I’m ranked in the WBA. Saavedra has been proven to be a tough opponent for some world-class fighters. He beat two undefeated fighters recently and had a majority decision loss to another good fighter as well. I expect him to be in great shape. He is coming to win, and that means he is a dangerous opponent.”

On what a win does for his career:

Tampa, FL (October 31, 2022) – Fire Fist Boxing Promotions’ Yamaguchi “The Problem” Falcao and Willian “Babyface” Silva scored impressive victories Saturday, October 29 in Lowell, MA.

The card was promoted by Reyes Boxing Promotions as part of their “Down and Dirty” fight series. Falcao and Silva are promoted by Fire Fist Boxing Promotions.

Falcao retained his NABA Gold, WBC Latino and WBC Feconsur super middleweight titles with a dominant ten round decision victory over veteran Alex Tehran. Falcao, a native of Brazil who resides in Florida, battered the game Tehran from bell to bell.

Scores were 100-90, 99-91 and 98-92 for Falcao, who improved to 23-1-1 with 9 wins by knockout.

Lightweight Willian “Babyface” Silva returned with a bang, scoring three knockdowns in the first round before unleashing a perfect straight right hand to knock out Carlos Gaston Suarez at the end of round two. In 2018, Suarez went four rounds against future unified champion and top 10 pound for pound fighter Murodjon “MJ” Akhmadaliev.

Silva, 29-4 (17 KO’s), looked like a brand-new fighter as he reentered the lightweight division.

“Yama and Willian looked great,” said Jody Caliguire of Fire Fist Boxing Promotions. “Yama really laid a beating on Tehran and I thought he was going to retire on his stool but I give him credit for going the full ten rounds. Willian and (head trainer) Jim McLaughlin focused this camp on fighting more aggressively. He’s a completely different fighter than the one many fight fans remember seeing in some high profile fights at 135 and 140.”

LOS ANGELES, CA – Harlan J. Werner, longtime sports agent of the late Muhammad Ali, today announced he has decided to part ways with his entire personal collection of incredible Ali memorabilia. The impressive collection will be available through his new venture, The Memorabilia Network, currently for auction at www.tmnauctions.com.  In addition to Werner’s collection, also included will be numerous Ali items from friends and colleagues of Ali who have collaborated to offer an incredible array of articles from one of the most celebrated and one of the most beloved icons of the 21^st Century.

Over 300 items will be available for sale with some of the highlights including a set of four art prints of Ali, generated from original artwork by Andy Warhol. Both Warhol and Ali signed the prints, with the set being one of only six known in existence from the icons. The auction will include personal writings of Ali, a 1970s era training-worn robe, numerous awards, and several personal items that have never been seen before.  This will be the first opportunity for fans and collectors to have a chance at acquiring items accumulated by Werner over his 25-year personal friendship with Ali.

PHILADELPHIA (OCTOBER 31, 2022)–Heavyweight Sonny Conto remained undefeated with a second round stoppage in a scheduled six-round main event at the 2300 Arena.

The fight card, which drew an enthusiastic crowd, was promoted by Joe Hand Promotions,

Bryant shot right out of his corner, and went after Conto. The Philadelphia native engaged in a back and forth brawl and dropped Bryant with a hard left hand just before the bell sounded to end the opening frame. In round two, Conto continued to pound away until Bryant was weary, and the fight was stopped by the corner at 2:13.

Conto of Philadelphia is now 11-0 with nine knockouts. Bryant of Pittsburgh is 6-2.

In the co-feature, rising 21 year-old prospect Bryce Mills won a six-round unanimous decision over Larry Fryers in a junior welterweight bout.

Mills of Liverpool, New York won by scores of 60-54 on all cards and is now 10-1. Fryers of Yonkers, New York is 11-6-1.

Everlon Still took a four-round unanimous decision over Tariq Green in a super middleweight fight.

Still of Voorhees, New Jersey won by scores of 40-36 and 39-37 twice and is now 3-2. Green of Philadelphia is 2-2.

Carlos Marrero won a four-round unanimous decision over Tyree Arnold in a junior welterweight bout.

Marrero of Bridgeport, Connecticut won by scores of 39-37 on all cards and is now 4-8-3. Arnold of Philadelphia is 1-5/

Shane Slocumb made a successful pro debut with a second round stoppage over Jonathan Wiles in a scheduled four-round heavyweight bout.

The time of the stoppage was 2:58 for the Philadelphia native Slocumb, who is now 1-0 with one knockout. Wiles of Philadelphia is 0-2.

James White stopped Kenyan Williams in round three of their four-round light heavyweight contest.

The time of the stoppage was 2:39 for the debuting White of Warwick, Pennsylvania. Williams of Winchester, Virginia is 0-3.

In New York City at The Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden, a pair of undefeated fighters in featherweight Haven Brady Jr. will take on Eric Mondragon in an eight-round fight, and junior welterweight Tiger Johnson will see action in a six-round bout against Esteban Garcia.

Brady of Albany, Georgia, recently moved his training to Philadelphia under the esteemed Derek “Bozy” Ennis, and has a record of 7-0 with four knockouts. The 20 year-old Brady has wins over Roberto Negrete (3-0), Jose Argel (8-2) and his last outing when won a unanimous decision over Aaron Echeveste on July 23rd in Hinckley, Minnesota.

Mondragon of Maywood, California is 8-0-1 with four knockouts. The 24 year-old Mondragon is coming off a fourth round stoppage over Mario Aguirre on August 6th in Los Angeles.

Johnson will take on Esteban Garcia in a six-round bout. The 23 year-old Cleveland native is 5-0 with four knockouts. The 2021 United States Olympian has a win over previously undefeated Xavier Madrid (3-0). In Johnson;s last bout, he took out Harry Gigliotti in five rounds on August 27th in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Garcia of Brawley, California is 15-1 with seven stoppages. The 32 year-old Garcia has fought 15 of his 16 fights in Mexico. He has a win over Omar Molano (6-1-3) & Juan Ramon Guzman (12-1-1). Garcia is coming off a first round stoppage over Jonathan Delgado Martinez on July 9, 2021 in Tijuana, Mexico.

In San Diego, undefeated super bantamweight, Asa Stevens will take on Mychaqual Shields in a bout scheduled for four-rounds.

Stevens of Waianae, Hawaii is 2-0 with one knockout. Stevens, 21 is coming off a First round stoppage over Felix Vazquez on November 11th in Anaheim, California. Stevens is a former National Golden Gloves champion and World Amateur champion.

Shields will be making his pro debut.

Stevens weighed 122.6 lbs. Shields was 122.8 lbs.

Javier Zamarron will make his pro debut against Ahmond Rayshaun Oates in a four-round featherweight bout.

Zamarron of Sheboygan, Wisconsin was 127.6 lbs. Oates was 124 lbs.

Rolando Vargas will take on Charles Garner in an eight-round junior welterweight bout. Vargas, 23, of Milwaukee is 7-1 with seven knockouts. He has stoppage wins over Nathaniel Lee Davis (1-0). Vargas has stopped his last two opponents, which includes first-round stoppage over Jerrell Hodge on March 4th in Columbus, Ohio.

Garner of Buffalo, New York is 6-1 with five knockouts. Garner is coming off a second round knockout over Juhvari Artis on March 26th in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Vargas was 143.3 lbs. Garner was 139 lbs.

Katie Taylor retained the Undispted Lightweight world title with a 10-round unanimous decision over Karen Elizabeth Carabajal at The OVO Arena in London.

Taylor, 134.5 lbs of Bray, IRE won by scores of 99-91 and 97-93 and is now 22-0. Carabajal, 134.2 lbs of Buenis Aires, ARG is 19-1.

Former world champion Kiko Martinez upset Jordan Gill via fourth round stoppage in their scheduled 10-round featherweight contest.

In round three, Martinez dropped Gill with a right hand. Later in the round, Martinez sent Gill to the canvas with a right uppercut. In round four, Martinez dumped Gill with a perfect right to the head. Martinez ended things by landing a big left hook that put Gill down for a fourth and final time at 2:44.

Martinez, 124.8 lbs of Alicante, SPA is 44-11-2 with 31 knockouts. Gill, 125.8 lbs of Chatteris, ENG is now 27-2-1.

Johnny Fisher remained undefeated as he obliterated Dominik Musil inside of a round in their six-round heavyweight bout.

In round one, Fisher dropped Musil with a overhand right. Fisher then ran after Musil and dropped him again with a two punch combination. Fisher then landed a plethora of right hands that forced a referee stoppage at 2:03.

Fisher, 233.4 lbs of Romford, ENG has a rabid fan base and they went home happy as Fisher upped his mark to 7-0 with six knockouts. Musil, 262.7 lbs of the Czech Republic is 7-5.

Ellie Scotney remained undefeated with a 10-round unanimous decision over Mary Romero in a super bantamweight fight.

Scotney, 121.5 lbs of Catford, ENG won by scores of 97-93, 97-94 and 96-94 and is now 6-0, Romero, 120.5 lbs of Murcia, SPA is 8-3.

In a battle of undefeated lightweights, Gary Cully destroyed Jaouad Balmedhi in a scheduled 10-round bout.

Cully landed one left to the chin that dropped and stopped Belmedhi at 35 seconds.

Cully, 135.5 lbs of Naas, IRE is 15-0 with nine knockouts. Belmedhi, 136.3 lbs of France is 16-1-3.

Mickey Ellison won a 10-round light heavyweight bout with a decision over previously undefeated Thomas Whittaker Hart.

Ellison, 174.9 lbs of Darwen, ENG won by a 96-95 score and is now 14-4. Hart, 174.8 lbs of Liverpool, ENG is 7-1.

Jordan Reynolds remained undefeated with a six-round decision over Jose Manuel Lopez Clavero in a middleweight fight.

Reynolds, 163.1 lbs of Luton, ENG won by a 60-55 score, and is now 4-0. Clavero, 161.3 lbs of Granda, SPA is 16-19-1.

John Hedges remained undefeated with a six-round decision over Ales Makovec in a light heavyweight contest.
