MIAMI, FL (May 17, 2022)—It’s title night at the Casino Miami Jai-Alai on Saturday, June 11 as the world’s greatest boxing promoter, Don King, stages a night of title fights on the card titled “The Fight for Freedom and Peace”.  Tickets are on sale for $100, $75 and $50 and can be purchased online at https://playcasinomiami.com.   The card will also be presented on Pay-Per-View.

The main event of the evening will feature the WBA Heavyweight Championship pitting defending champion Trevor Bryan (22-0, 15 KOs) going up against the number one contender Daniel DuBois (17-1, 16 KOs) from Greenwich, London.

Promoter King is working away at making an additional title fight or two for the card in his mission to bring an exciting night of boxing in Miami.

The other title fights are the NABA Gold Heavyweight title fight featuring champion DaCarree Scott (7-0, 6 KOs) of Decatur, GA defending his title against Louisiana slugger in Jonathan Guidry (17-1-2, 5 KOs) from Dulac, LA.  Guidry’s lone blemish came at the hands of Bryan.    Florida’s NABA Cruiserweight Champion Johnnie Langston (10-3, 4 Kos) of Sarasota, FL will defend his title against Plantation, Florida’s Isaiah Thompson (6-1-1, 5 KOs).

Tre’Sean Wiggins (13-5-3, 7 KOs), of Newburgh, NY will defend his NABA Welterweight championship against Ft. Lauderdale, Florida’s Travis Castellon (17-4-1, 12 KOs).

Eric Tudor (4-0) went the distance for the first time in his young career Saturday night against the battle tested Donte Stubbs. The fight was part of the Angel “Tito” Acosta versus Janiel Rivera undercard that took place in Indio, California.

The fight nearly didn’t happen when Stubbs weighed in a whopping 3.5 pounds over the contracted 154 pound super welterweight limit.

After consulting with his team, Tudor decided that the opportunity to fight on a DAZN streamed card was worth the risk of taking on an overweight opponent.

“We were very surprised by how much he was overweight but we didn’t want to waste a training camp. Golden Boy and DAZN gave us an opportunity and we wanted to make the most of it.,” said Tudor. “This was my first time going the distance and it was a good experience going 6 full rounds.”

Tudor won all 6 rounds on all 3 judges scorecards and is looking to return to the ring in July.

The 20 year old Romanian Olympian made his pro debut in February when he stopped Dalton Duncan in 1 round.  He followed that impressive performance up with 2 more knockout victories before Saturday night.

If Tudor stays stays injury free, the plan is for him to fight at least 4 more times this year.

On his recent training camp:

“Cota is a very dangerous fight for anyone. He has a lot of experience and has been in the ring with a lot of good fighters. I’ll have to use all my tools to be impressive and get the victory. I’m expecting this fight to go some rounds, but I believe I’ll eventually stop him before the final bell rings.”

On fighting on SHOWTIME:

“Fighting on SHOWTIME is something I dreamed about as a kid. All the big stars have made their names on this network, and I plan to follow in their footsteps. I shine best on the biggest stages and I’m going to make sure everyone watching will remember my name.”

On what a win will do for his career:

(May 17, 2022) — WBA/IBF bantamweight world champion Naoya “Monster” Inoue is 17-0 in world title fights and only once has been pushed to the brink.

WBC bantamweight world champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire, the four-weight kingpin whose late-career renaissance cemented his status as one of boxing’s greatest lighter weight champions, has one more shot to stun the Japanese pound-for-pound icon.

Inoue and Donaire will meet in a title unification rematch Tuesday, June 7, at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. Inoue and Donaire first fought in November 2019 at Saitama Super Arena, with Inoue overcoming a broken orbital bone and nose to win a unanimous decision in the consensus Fight of the Year.

Inoue-Donaire 2 and undercard bouts will stream live and exclusively in the U.S. on ESPN+ starting at 5 a.m. ET/2 a.m. PT.

“Naoya Inoue and Nonito Donaire’s first fight is among the greatest championship battles I’ve ever seen, and I am thrilled that American fight fans can watch the rematch on ESPN+,” said Top Rank chairman Bob Arum.

Inoue (22-0, 19 KOs), a three-weight world champion, won the WBC light flyweight title in April 2014 and ascended to pound-for-pound prominence with dominant runs at junior bantamweight and bantamweight. At one point, Inoue had a championship streak of seven consecutive knockouts against fighters who had never been stopped before. He joined the bantamweight ranks in May 2018 with a devastating first-round stoppage over Jamie McDonnell. One year later, he knocked out Emmanuel Rodriguez in two rounds to win the IBF world title. Since unifying the IBF and WBA belts versus Donaire, Inoue has knocked out Jason Moloney, Michael Dasmariñas, and Aran Dipaen.

Donaire (42-6, 28 KOs), a 39-year-old future Hall of Famer who won his first world title at flyweight in 2007, has experienced a career rebirth since moving down from featherweight following a decision defeat to Carl Frampton in 2018. He earned stoppage wins over Ryan Burnett and Stephon Young in his first two bantamweight contests before stepping up to face Inoue. Donaire before showed no ill effects from the 12-round shootout with Inoue, returning last May to upset Nordine Oubaali via fourth-round stoppage to win the WBC title. Donaire then defended that strap in December with a fourth-round knockout over the previously undefeated Reymart Gaballo.

• Takuma Inoue (15-1, 3 KOs), the younger brother of Naoya and a former bantamweight world title challenger, will defend his WBO Asia Pacific junior featherweight strap in a 12-rounder versus Gakuya Furuhashi (28-8-2, 16 KOs). Inoue has won two straight since a decision loss to Nordine Oubaali for the WBC bantamweight world title, while Furuhashi is unbeaten in 11 fights dating back to 2016.

The 22-year-old followed up that performance by taking down another undefeated fighter, as he stopped Carlos Arrieta in the 10th round of their January showdown, also on SHOBOX®.

A pro since late 2019, Fierro scored knockouts in his first seven fights before winning an eight-round unanimous decision in April 2021.

POMONA, CA (May 17, 2022) – Unbeaten rising star, lightweight Ernesto “Tito” Mercado (6-0, 6 KOs), remained undefeated as he stopped Jose Zaragoza (8-5-1, 2 KOs), last Thursday, May 12th, on a card promoted by Tom Loeffler’s 360 Promotions. The bout was shown live on UFC Fight Pass, and took place at The Quiet Cannon Country Club in Montebello, Ca.

Mercado dropped Zaragoza in the first round as it was clear he was the vastly superior fighter. Mercado’s blinding hand speed along with his one-punch power was on full display in this fight, as he finished Zaragoza off at the 1:07 mark of round two.

“Jose Zaragoza just fought Keyshawn Davis, and I wanted to show the world just how good I am, and why boxing writers should consider me for prospect of the year,” said Mercado, who stands 5’10. “I dropped him in the first round and got him out of there in the second. I felt I could have stopped him earlier but the referee let him survive. I’m putting everyone on notice, including Keyshawn Davis and all the other top prospects and champions, that I’m cementing my place in the lightweight division. I’m coming for everybody.”

Mercado was a decorated amateur with an impressive 280-11 record. In the pro ranks, he’s quickly becoming one of the most feared power punchers in boxing.

“I just want to move into title contention and these fights are needed to get my record up, but I want to fight the champions, the fighters people say are the best,” continued Mercado, who has knocked out all six of his opponents within the first two rounds. “I am becoming the most feared fighter in boxing and there is nothing any of these other fighters can do about it. By the end of the year I’ll be advancing from power punching prospect of the year to a serious contender in the lightweight division.”

PHILADELPHIA, PA / New York (May 17, 2022)–Jamshidbek Najmitdinov moved up in weight and had a career best performance as he stopped former world title challenger Charles Hatley in two rounds in Hatley’s hometown in Dallas.

In the process, Najmitdinov won the WBC USNBC title.

Najmitdinov came out firing and looked to not leave the fight in the judges’ hands. In round two, he took the fight into his own hands as he dropped Hatley with a powerful left. Hatley was unsteady as he tried to get up and the fight was stopped at 2:17.

Hatley (30-3-1) had previously challenged Jermell Charlo for the WBC Super Welterweight title.

Najmitdinov, of Uzbekistan, is promoted by Banner Promotions and Uprising Promotions and raised his record to 19-2 with 15 knockouts.

“I was training for four months. I just wanted to make a comeback and show that I was better than my last fight. Whoever it was, I was going to knock him out. That was my mindset. When I came out, I came out with bad intentions. I started throwing hard punches and wanted to go hard for the whole fight and make him feel all of the punches,” said Najmitdinov. “I feel great at 147 pounds. I feel so much stronger. I want to come right back. I will fight anybody that the managers and promoters say. I will fight anybody. I want to thank all of my fans for supporting me. For the people who counted me out, now you are all believers.”

“We are very proud of Jamshidbek. He was able to shake off adversity from his previous outing and went into Hatley’s hometown and knocked him out. This will open up a lot of doors for him in the welterweight division. We are immediately looking for a big fight for him,” said Artie Pelullo, President of Banner Promotions.

ANDREW CAIN WILL be looking to continue his trail of destruction at York Hall on Friday night and post-fight interviewers should be wary of mentioning the name of Liam Davies to the Liverpool firebrand.

Cain goes in with the tough Mexican Luis Moreno at the famous Bethnal Green venue in a defence of his WBC International Silver title, a matter of weeks after winning the belt with a speedy demolition of Pablo Ariel Gomez in Telford.

Gomez was a replacement for his originally scheduled opponent, Telford native Davies, who withdrew after injuring a shoulder and was on hand for media duties at the weigh-in.

Cain, who has said he is sick of having the name of Davies mentioned to him, did not particularly appreciate being confronted with his stricken foe in his post-weigh-in interview.

“Yeah, to be honest,” said the 9-0 KO-artist who suspects Davies is not entirely comfortable in his company. “What do you want me to do? Have a nice friendly chat with the fella? I think they were trying to provoke me to do something, but I just stayed nice and calm.

“Instead of just going over and knocking him out, I just tried to beat him up verbally.

“I think he is rattled in my presence anyway, that is what I feel anyway.

“Obviously he is a fighter and, if the fight gets made, he is gonna come out fighting no matter what. But I do feel like he is a bit rattled around me.

“It would have been an even better night if he hadn’t pulled out. It turned out to be a good night as it was but it would have been even better to have smashed him.

“Listen though, as I said after the weigh-in, my career doesn’t revolve around Liam Davies. I think he will lose his next fight and I believe that (Ionut) Baluta will beat Brad Foster, to be honest.

“I think I have got the beating of them all. (Marc) Leach is a bit runny and awkward, but I have been dealing with awkward southpaws since I was a kid so I feel like I wouldn’t have a problem with him at all.”

Cain admits he is prepared to bide his time to an extent when it comes to fulfilling his obvious potential and he suspects prospective opponents are already aware that a new force is on the horizon.

However, some super bantamweight match-ups might have to be put on the backburner for a little while because Cain is seriously contemplating a drop down to bantamweight.

“I ain’t getting any younger but I am also not in no rush. I am coming, I am coming regardless and they are gonna see me sooner or later and they are starting to now. There is no pressure on me and no urgency about it, it is just inevitable and it is happening.

“I am 25, soon to be 26 in August, so I am no spring chicken. I am getting on a bit but I am coming, no matter what. My time is coming.

“It is super bantam for this one, but I am probably going to speak to them to see if I can get my next one at bantam. I’ll probably need about five or six weeks to make the weight comfortably.”

So would Cain put a drop in division ahead of the big fights and belts in his current category.

“These are the decisions we have to make when it comes, but I feel like I would be better at bantam and would be the bigger man. Not that we’re bothered because we would fight anyone but we don’t want to give these fellas any sort of advantage over us, do we?

“I need a fight to see what’s what and if it doesn’t feel right I will stay at super bantam. Before my last fight – when I was training for Liam Davies – I was walking around at 59kg and at super bantam I should be walking around at 61 or even more.

“I was walking around like a bantamweight and this is where the decision has come from. I am having to eat up to super bantam and that is why we know I can make it quite comfortably, although it is never easy.

“Any fight though, just give me the phone call and I’ll be there. We want to do what’s best for us and, at the moment, I think it is bantamweight.”

Craig Richards believes he will prove he is the best Light-Heavyweight in Britain – and book himself a well-earned second shot at World title honours with a London derby win over Joshua Buatsi at The O2 this Saturday May 21, shown live worldwide on DAZN (excluding New Zealand and Australia).

Richards (17-2-1, 10 KOs) is hunting down another crack at the WBA belt that he’s already boxed for, and he bounced back from a slender defeat to champion Dmitry Bivol a year ago by stopping Marek Matyja in this arena in October to land the vacant WBA International belt.

‘Spider’ knows that while he’s boxed for a World title, this could be as big a night as that event, with his fellow South Londoner touted as a World Champion in waiting since turning pro with Eddie Hearn after landing Olympic bronze in 2016.

Richards concedes that his opposite number has the pedigree, but he feels he’s done the harder yards in the paid ranks to date, and that will be the difference on the night.

“It’s an exciting fight,” said Richards. “He’s been talked about as being ‘the guy’ in the division but I believe I’ve earned my place as ‘the guy’ in the division. People base that for him off speculation and for me off my wins, the talking is over now, and we’ll see who is number one.

“He did well as an amateur around the world and in the Olympics, you can’t argue with that. Are those skills transferable to the pros? He was tipped to be one of the fighters from that crop of Olympians to do big things. As a professional I’ve jumped into deep waters and proved myself, I’ve been the underdog time and time again. 

“We’re yet to see that from Josh, there hasn’t been a fight he’s been in that anyone has said, ‘this is a 50-50 fight, I think Josh could lose this fight’. Talking about who has the better CV, he’s unbeaten but I’ve had the hard fights. He’s had that amateur pedigree and has been guided into a safer journey. He’s earned that right of course, but with me I have had to jump in, sink or swim, and he’s played it safe, but the safety cap is off now.”

Wins over domestic foes Shakan Pitters and Jake Ball shine on Richards’ resume, but recent events make his loss against Bivol stand out for different reasons. The Crystal Palace man gave the long reigning champion the stiffest examination of his tenure at the top when they met in Manchester, with the champion retaining the belt on points, but only by one and two rounds on two of the cards.

Bivol is now a major player on the world stage having successfully defended his title earlier this month in a stunning display against Canelo Alvarez in Las Vegas – a performance that has shone a new light on Richards’ own effort against the unbeaten WBA ruler.

“If you see the performance I put in against Bivol against the performance Canelo put in, our fight was closer,” said Richards. “If I had started a bit quicker, I could have won the fight and I gave him problems. I had to go through negative commentary, people pushing this agenda that ‘Bivol had an off-night’. Every time I beat someone, they have an off night. How come it can’t be that I am good, and I am making these fighters look not as good as people say because of my skill? 

“Bivol said of me, that my IQ was good, it was a thinking fight and that I was setting traps for him and was reading what I was going to do. He even said to Eddie afterwards backstage, ‘where the f*** did you find this guy?’ He was impressed with me and said I was good. We both knew the fight was close and he got the nod, but he knew I did well. 

“Saturday is what matters – getting credit now or then it doesn’t really change anything. If I don’t go and perform, everything I’ve done is dead and buried. I’ve dealt with a lot of negatives around my performances and my career, I think that the my Bivol performance and then his win over Canelo is going to increase the attention and that people will see I gave him a harder fight and that might change people’s opinions of May 21.

LAS VEGAS (May 16, 2022) — Tiger Johnson has been ready for prime time ever since representing the U.S. at last summer’s Tokyo Olympics. The welterweight standout will get a chance to put his skills on display in prime time as he fights an opponent to be named in a six-round special feature Saturday, May 21, at the Resorts World Event Center at Resorts World Las Vegas. Johnson’s bout will open the ESPN telecast of the Janibek Alimkhanuly-Danny Dignum WBO Interim middleweight world title bout.

Alimkhanuly-Dignum, a 10-round lightweight co-feature between Jamel Herring and Jamaine Ortiz, and Johnson’s return will air live on ESPN, ESPN Deportes and ESPN+ at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

Following his Olympic run, Johnson (3-0, 2 KOs) made an impressive pro debut by stopping Antonius Grable in the fourth round last November on the Terence Crawford-Shawn Porter undercard. LONDON, MAY 16 – Sunny Edwards is “one billion per cent” serious about challenging new world bantamweight champion Paul Butler.

But Edwards, the unbeaten flyweight title holder, doesn’t believe Butler would accept the fight even though ‘Showtime’ would be moving up two weight divisions to make it happen.

Edwards said: “IfI was Paul Butler, I would stay every possible mile in this world away from me”.

Butler has been elevated to full WBO world bantamweight champion after John Riel Casimero was stripped of the belt having contravened weigh-making rules in the build-up to Probellum Liverpool.

Jonas Sultan stepped in as the replacement but found Butler in the form of his career as the Ellesmere Port fighter won convincingly on points to take the interim title.

In a post on social media last week, Edwards threw his hat in the ring to be the opponent for Butler’s first defence of his WBO crown and the 26-year-old has doubled down on his challenge to the new champion.

Yet the IBF king at 112lbs is not convinced Butler, and his team, would be prepared to risk the title in a fight with him.

“I am one billion per cent serious about fighting Paul Butler,” said Edwards.

“I don’t say things that don’t mean. Not in boxing, not in my private life.

“It’s a fight I’d be 100% confident with, it would be an inter-Probellum fight, it would be an all-British world title fight, but I couldn’t really see it happening, if I’m honest, because if I was Paul Butler, I would stay every possible mile in this world away from me and I think that will be the response.

“I think Paul’s coach, Joe Gallagher, is probably much smarter than that, as well. But it’s a fight that I would like, it was never really on my radar until a few months ago when I got dragged into a back and forth on Twitter with his dad. But Paul’s a good fighter, don’t get confused.”

Edwards has described Butler’s victory over Sultan last month, as a “good win” but believes he would be too much for the bantamweight title holder.

“For me, there are levels to boxing,” Edwards said.

“It’s a fight that would allow me to prove the mindset that I’m willing to go up and down in weights to where the fights make sense.”

New York, NY (May 13, 2022)-Four Split-T Management fighters registered explosive knockout victories over the weekend.

On Friday, Sonny Conto remained undefeated with a third-round stoppage over Justin Rolfe in a scheduled six-round heavyweight bout in front of a packed crowd at Parx casino in Bensalem, PA.

After two rounds of beating up Rolfe with hard power shots. Conto decked Rolfe with a big left hook in round three. Seconds later, it was another hard left jook from close quarters that sent Rolfe folding towards the canvas and the fight was stopped by referee Eric Dali at 1:38.

Conto, 228.2 lbs of Philadelphia is 10-0 with eight knockouts. Rolfe, 254.1 lbs of Portland, ME is 7-4-1.

Also, Friday night in Sacramento, junior lightweight Kevin Montano stopped veteran Corben Page in the opening round of their scheduled four-round bout.

Montano is now 3-0 with two knockouts.

Montano, 24, started boxing at the age of eight under coach Gary Sullenger. Sullenger has remained with Montano through his amateur and now into his professional career.

During Montano’s amateur career, Montano was a three-time California State Champion, the 2017 National Golden Gloves runner-up, 2017 Eastern qualifier runner-up, 2019 Western qualifier runner-up and he placed third in the 2021 Nationals. He had risen to the number-two ranked fighter in the country as an amateur.

Montano, who is fluent in both English and Spanish is a graduate of Sacramento State, with a degree in Kinesiology.

Saturday night in Newark, New Jersey, Brian Ceballo remained undefeated with a sixth round stoppage over Gerald Sherrell.

Ceballo, who was making his 2022 debut took apart Sherrell, who appeared on the latest edition of The Contender and finished him off at 2:!0 in round six of their scheduled eight-round bout.

With the win, the New York native raises his mark to 13-0 with seven knockouts.

Ceballo is promoted by 360 Promotions.

On the same card at the Robert Treat Hotel, welterweight Kahshad Elliott scored his second consecutive knockout when he took out Tray Martin in round one.

Elliott battered Martin until the bout was stopped at 2:53. The Plainfield, New Jersey native is now 2-0 with two knockouts.

Elliott had an outstanding amateur career that saw him win 117 of 140 fights, and was a 10-time National champion in the 165-pound division.

Joshua Buatsi wants to leave no doubt that he’s the leading Light-Heavyweight in the country when he faces South London rival Craig Richards in a huge clash at The O2 this Saturday May 21, shown live worldwide on DAZN (excluding New Zealand and Australia).

Buatsi (15-0, 13 KOs) finally gets his hands on one of his fellow high-flying domestic rivals at 175lbs, with Richards hunting down a second World title shot after rising to the occasion in a tight loss to Dmitry Bivol last May in Manchester. 

Richards’ performance against the WBA champion looks more impressive after Bivol produced a masterclass to defeat Mexican pound for pound king Canelo Alvarez earlier in the month, and the Crystal Palace man has been bullish in the build-up, saying that he is Buatsi’s first real test in the paid ranks.

The Olympic bronze medal man has adopted the mantra ‘Just Business’ in and out of the ring for the clinical way he goes about his work, and while there’s local bragging rights up for grabs against Richards, Buatsi knows that victory would lay the foundation to both claim the number one spot in the country and underline the need for a World title shot to be next.

“I am the best in the country,” said Buatsi. “The truth is though; we haven’t fought each other. Spider is the first Light-Heavyweight in Britain that I am boxing, so from there I can make a point of it. Everyone can say they are the best, but until someone gets a World title to separate themselves, then everyone has a point to make, and we are the first to really fight. 

“He is saying I haven’t proved myself, but I don’t think that’s true. We were both amateurs, he fought, I fought, we entered the same tournaments, and I went on and did what I did. So, he cannot say that I’ve had an easier route, just because I went to the Olympics and did well. I killed myself for that medal, gave everything for it, so the narrative people have said and that he’s said too, I don’t think it’s true. 

“I think I had that 50-50 fight against Ricards Bolotniks. A few of the governing bodies had him in their top five. I didn’t rank him, they ranked him. He was a very good opponent and I stopped him. His management team said that they rated me for taking the fight, because all the other Light-Heavyweights in the country didn’t want to fight him. We didn’t think twice. 

“Craig had a good scrap with Bivol, but people have forgotten about it. I beat Bolotniks and people have forgotten about that too, that’s just what happens, but we’re here now. There wasn’t a lot of options out there, it was a fight that was being pushed and I said, ‘cool let’s take it’. It’s a good fight, he’s a good opponent, it’s in London. I have the same mindset and I’ll handle business as usual.

“I’m unbeaten but that means nothing to me. I haven’t got time to listen to the masses. He’s in front of me and that’s all that matters, not who is one or two, just the fight that’s happening and that’s what is in front of me. We’re not talking, we’re not making assumptions, we’re not predicting – we know that May 21 this is the guy I have got.

“I am better than him 100 per cent. Come on. I’ve looked at him in the eyes and he knows who I am. You don’t need to explain. I don’t need to talk smack and I don’t need the media. I love my private life. I’ve got opinions, but I don’t care about social media or any of that. Forget the image, when I fight, it’s straight violence. I carry myself in a certain way, but when I get in the ring, it’s straight violence. In professional boxing we’re all carrying ourselves in a certain way, but the brakes are off when I’m in the ring. The talking doesn’t do it, the fighting does.

“The reality is we’re going to fight. I have a self-belief, not everyone thinks I’m good or the next big thing, and that’s ok, I don’t care what the masses say. Whatever I must do, I will do and in that ring, I know in myself that I will find a way to win and do what I have to do. Winning by any formula.  I’ve looked at him, I’ve seen him, I know what is going to happen to him and he knows too.”

Jermell Charlo became the undisputed super welterweight champion with an 10th round stoppage in an action packed rematch with Brian Castano at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

The fight was contested at a fast pace. It picked up from their July 17, 2021 draw. Charlo was very sharp by landing some good shots with both hands. Castano landed some good right hands of his own, but Charlo who did not lay on the ropes like he did in first encounter, was able to land some solid counter shots. The fight was fought on even terms over the opening half of the fight.

Charlo started the second half of the fight by beating Castano to the punch and started to forge ahead in the fight. In round ten, Charlo dropped Castano with a quick left hook to the body. Castano was hurt, and Charlo saw that. He jumped on Castano and landed a big left hook to the side that sent Castano down for a second time. Castano was clearly in no-position to continue and the fight was stopped at 2:33.

Charlo, 152.75 lbs of Houston, TX is now 35-1-1 with 19 knockouts. Castano, 153.75 lbs of Buenos Aries, ARG is 17-1-2.

“This is legacy,” Charlo said in the ring afterward. “This is something that is legendary. I’m a legend. I knew Castaño was going to give it his all. I knew I had trained very, very hard but you all can see that I came in at 152 pounds because I was really in shape, and I wanted to make sure that this was my fight.”

“We showed that we are warriors,” Castaño said. “We both were fighting back-and-forth. He’s a champion. He hit me. He got me. But I’m okay.”

“I don’t care about being late,” Charlo said. “I don’t care about who’s early. I knew once I got to this arena, and I’m fighting outside in this beautiful place, I had to get it on.”

“I listened to my corner this time,” he said. “I got in my bag around the seventh round. I started sitting down a little bit more instead of boxing so much and moving around. I saw that he was wearing down a little bit and I was breaking him down. I just saw my punches being more effective. I get stronger in the later rounds if they didn’t know.”

Jaron Ennis Knocks Out Clayton in 2

Jaron Ennis took a giant step closer to a world title shot by stopping previously undefeated Custio Clayton in round two of their 12-round welterweight bout.

Ennis dominated with the jab in the opening round, and then in round two, Ennis landed a huge right to the top of the head that sent Clayton to the canvas. Clayton got up, but staggered all over the ring and the fight was stopped at 2:49.

Ennis, 146.25 lbs of Philadelphia is now 29-0 with 27 knockouts. Clayton, 146.5 lbs of Darmouth, NS, CAN is 19-1-1.

“Anybody can get it right now,” Ennis said. “But I’m the IBF No. 1 contender and I think ‘Mr. Big Fish’ is here himself, so it’s time to go fishing,” he said referencing Spence’s nickname.

“He’s doing what he’s supposed to do,” Spence told Jim Gray of SHOWTIME. “He’s supposed to call me and everybody out and say I want to fight them. If he wasn’t hungry like that, like the guy he just fought. I don’t feel like he was hungry. I don’t feel like he wanted to fight.

“Ennis can fight,” Spence went on. “I’m very high on him. He’s got the right attitude. He’s got the right team behind him with him and his dad. He’s going to go a long way. But I heard him say he wants to reel me in. You might catch something you don’t want so don’t try too hard trying to reel me in.”

“He had a high guard, so I was trying to come around with the right hook,” Ennis said. “He leaned down and I just threw an overhand. I thought he was going to get up. He’s a durable, tough guy. Nobody has ever stopped him. I thought he was going to get up, but I saw he fell again, so I was like, ‘this is over.’”

Kevin Gonzalez Decisions Emanuel Rivera

Kevin Gonzalez remained undefeated by scoring a 10-round unanimous decision over Emanuel Rivera in a super bantamweight fight.

In round two, Gonzalez began to bleed from the nose.

In round seven, Gonzalez began to bleed around the right eye.

Gonzalez landed 159 of 585 punches; Rivera was 139 of 606.

Gonzalez, 121 lbs of Culican, MEX won by scores of 98-92, 97-93 and 96-94 and is now 25-0-1. Rivera, 121.75 lbs of Toa Baja, PR is 19-3.

“Rivera was a quality opponent,” González said. “He and I had a classic Mexican versus Puerto Rican war and I hope that the fans enjoyed it. Bring on all the champions. I’m going to fight as soon as my promoter tells me to, in order to become the world champion I want to be.”

Jurmain McDonald shocked Evan Holyfield by scoring a one-punch second round knockout in their scheduled six-round welterweight bout.

In round two, McDonald placed a perfect right to the face that sent Holyfield face down, and the fight was stopped at 1:56.

McDonald, 153.5 lbs of Jefferson City, MO is now 7-5 with three knockouts. Holyfield, 153 lbs of Atlanta, GA is 9-1.

Fernando Vargas Jr. remained undefeated with a first-round stoppage over Terrance Jarmon in a battle of undefeated super welterweights.

In round one, Vargas dropped Jarmon with a straight left. Seconds later, it was another left that sent Jarmon down for a second time. The fight was ended with…you guessed it…another straight left that put Jarmon down for a third and final time and the fight was stopped at 2:25.

Vargas Jr., 151.5 lbs of Las Vegas is 6-0 with six knockouts. Jarmon, 148 lbs of Toledo, OH is 3-1.

Gilberto Ramirez remained undefeated by stopping Dominic Boesel in round four of their 12-round light heavyweight elimination bout at The Toyota Arena in Ontario, California.

In round four, Ramirez dropped Boesel with a hard left to the body and the fight was stopped at 1:33

Ramirez, 174.8 lbs of Mazaltan, MEX is 44-0 with 30 knockouts. Boesel, 174.2 lbs of Freyburg, GER is 32-3.

“I feel great about my performance,” said Zurdo Ramirez. “As I said, I would put on a spectacular show here in LA. I got the victory via knock-out. I was expecting his best; we were expecting heavy shots. I trained way too hard for this position, and no one will take it from me. I used my distance more, and I attacked the body more. I know my last fight was tough, but I was really prepared for this one. I ate more tacos for this fight. I feel this is my natural weight. Everyone knows I want Bivol. He needs to stop running and sign the contract. I’m coming for you and that belt. I deserve that fight. I think I can beat him since I’m bigger, stronger, and smarter.”

“I thought I would hit him more with my jab,” said Domonic Boesel. “I came confidently to this fight. He got me in the liver with the first punch. I couldn’t do much when I got hit with the body shot.”

Zepeda Decisions Alvarado

William Zepeda remained undefeated with a 10-round unanimous decision over former world champion Rene Alvarado in a lightweight bout.

Zepeda landed 318 of 956; Alvarado was 206 of 1391. – Alvarado’s 1,391 total punches are the fourth-most ever recorded by CompuBox in a lightweight fight.  Their combined 2,347 total punch attempts are the 3rd most in CompuBox lightweight history…

Zepeda. 134.4 lbs of San Mateo Atenco, MEX won by scores of 98-92, 97-93 and 96-94 and is now 26-0. Alvarado, 134.6 lbs of Managua, NIC is 32-12.

John Ramirez Knocks Salvatierra Out of Ring in 1

John Ramirez scored an explosive first-round stoppage over Jan Salvatierra in a scheduled eight-round super flyweight bout.

Ramirez landed a perfect right hand that folded Salvatierra down and under the bottom rope. Salvatierra was able to get back in the ring, but he was in no condition to continue and the fight was stopped at 2:25.

Ramirez, 114.6 lbs of Los Angeles, CA is 10-0 with eight knockouts. Salvatierra, 114.6 lbs of Cabo San Lucas, MEX is 8-2.

“I knew I was going to end the fight via knock-out,” said John Ramirez. “I am excited the fight ended dramatically, but there is more to come from me. I am going to keep working, keep rising until I can claim that world title.”

Akitsugi Wins Technical Decision over Gonzalez

Katsuma Akitsugi won a technical decision over Jose Gonzalez when Gonzalez could not continue after a head clash opened up a cut. The featherweight bout was scheduled for 10-rounds.

In round three, Gonzalez was cut over the left eye from an accidental headbutt. As the fourth round commenced, Gonzalez could not continue, and the fight was waved off.

Akitsugi, 124.6 lbs of Hollywood, CA is 10-0. Gonzalez, 125.8 lbs of Guadalajara, MEX is 23-10-1.

“I don’t even feel like I fought,” said Katsuma Akitsugi. “I was trying to fight the full ten rounds. Unfortunately, the head butt was an accident. I wanted to continue, but it is what it is. I can’t wait to fight on more Golden Boy cards.”

Jorge Chavez remained undefeated with a third round stoppage over Eduardo Melendez in a scheduled four-round super featherweight bout.

Chavez, 128.4 lbs of San Diego, CA is 4-0 woth three knockouts. Melendez, 129.6 lbs of Ponce, PR is 6-32.

“I had a lot of success tonight,” said Jorge Chavez. “We had little fall outs in my camp but we pushed through. We came out victorious and my people were here. He was a big fighter so I had to pick him apart. He started getting tired and I went in for the kill. I started throwing sharp shots.”

Japhtelee Llamido stopped Edgar Figueroa in round five of their six-round super featherweight bout.

In round five, Llamido landed a hard right to the body that sent Figueroa to the canvas and the fight was stopped at 1:35.

Llamido, 126.4 lbs of Norwalk, CA is 7-0 with four knockouts. Figueroa, 127.2 lbs of Palm Beach, FL is 4-3-1.

“I felt good, I stuck to the game plan my team had for this fight,” said Japhethlee Llamido. “My opponent was tough, he had some fights at 130-135lbs so we knew he was going to be strong. We’ll just get ready for the next one.”

Carlos Nava stopped Yampier Hernandez in the sixth and final round of their lightweight bout.

In round six, Nava landed hard flurry on the ropes and backed up Hernandez and the fight was stopped at 1:57.

Nava, 135 lbs of Pasadena, TX is 8-0 with five knockouts. Hernandez, 133.6 lbs of Miami, FL is 1-1.

“It’s my first time fighting in a bigger venue than usual,” said Carlos Nava. “I felt amazing. It’s like a dream come true. I thought my opponent was very experienced since he’s a bronze medalist. I was the one hunting him down. Hopefully I get back in camp in a couple days and on to the next fight.”

Kareem Hackett remained undefeated with a six-round unanimous decision over Josue Obando in a cruiserweight bout.

In round five, Obando began to bleed from his nose.

Hackett, 178.6 lbs of Toronto, CAN won by scores of 60-54 on all cards and is now 10-0. Obando, 179.4 lbs of Guadalajara, MEX is 20-34-2.

” I felt excellent,” said Kareem Hacket. “My whole team is here to support and I opened up the night. My opponent was tough. I hit him with everything I got and he was still standing. Props to him for being a veteran in the sport. Hopefully I keep fighting on these cards and eventually get a regional title or maybe go back to Canada and get the Canadian title.”

Martin Bakole scored two knockdowns and dominated former Olympic Gold Medal winner Tony Yoka en-round to a 10-round majority decision in Paris, France.

In round one, Bakole dropped Yoke with a hard right hand. In round three, Yoka was cut under his left eye. In round four, he began to bleed from his nose. In round five, Bakole landed a punch and Yoka fell on his ankle that ruled a knockdown.

Bakolewon by scores of 96-92, 95-93 and 94-94

Bakole of Scotland is 18-1. Yoka of Paris is 11-1.

Oumiha Decisions Boufoudi

Sofiane Oumiha won an eight-round unanimous decision over Mevy Boufoudi in a battle of undefeated lightweights.

Oumiha is now 2-0. Boufoudi is 8-1.

Victor Yoka Scores 1st Round KO in Pro debut

Victor Yoka made a successful pro debut with a first-round stoppage over Guarami Khurtsidze in a super welterweight bout.

Yoka dropped Khurtsidze with a right to the head and the bout was stopped.

Yoka of France is 1-0. Khurtsidze of Georgia Republic is 4-15-5.

Los Angeles, CA (May 13, 2022) Thursday night in Los Angeles, fast rising star ‘King’ Callum Walsh, (3-0, 3 KOs), continued the torrid start to his professional career with a first-round knockout of Luis Garcia, (3-1, 1 KO) in the scheduled six round super welterweight main event at the Quiet Cannon – Montebello Country Club. The world class boxing card was promoted by Tom Loeffler’s 360 Promotions and broadcast live internationally on UFC Fight Pass.

The 21-year-old Walsh, a native of Cork, Ireland, dropped Garcia twice in the opening stanza from a barrage of powerful right hands before the fight was stopped at the 1:48 mark. The stoppage took place in front of a packed house of boxing fans which included UFC’s Dana White and Mario Lopez cheering on Walsh from ringside. Now residing in Los Angeles, Walsh is guided by Hall of Fame Trainer Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Boxing Gym.

Heralded super lightweight Tito Mercado, (6-0, 6 KOs), stayed perfect in his short career as the 20-year-old Pomona, CA resident stopped Jose Zaragoza, (8-5-1, 2 KOs) in the second round (1:07).

In a featherweight clash, Omar Trinidad, (8-0-1 6 KOs), stopped Andrew Strode, (6-2, 1 KO)  at 1:10 of the third round.

Cruiserweight Marco Deckmann, (9-1, 7 KOs), won a six-round unanimous decision over Jasper McCargo, (4-3-2, 2 KOs). Scores from all three judges were 59-53.

In an outstanding six-round women’s junior lightweight clash, Chelsey Anderson, (5-0-1) stopped Jessica Juarez, (3-2, 1 KO) in the final stanza. Juarez started very strong but Anderson was able to turn the tide and land big punches as the fight went on. In the final round the ring doctor stopped the fight due to a cut on Juarez’s badly swollen eye.

Manny Pacquiao Jr. won his second amateur bout, aggressively battering Johnathan Barajas to earn the three-round decision.

In the super lightweight division, David Romero, (2-0, 1 KO), won a four round unanimous decision over debuting Fernando Gaytan.  

Rounding out the card off-TV, Dariilal Kuchmenov, (4-0, 2 KOs), won a four-round decision over Bacillo Monterros in a featherweight bout and in the lightweight division 19-year-old Ruben Islas, (5-0, 3 KO’s) defeated Charles Clark over four rounds.
