Today, DAZN, the world’s ultimate sports entertainment platform, and Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) announced a ground-breaking arrangement with ESPN and Top Rank, which will see the mega-fight between international superstar Jake “The Problem Child” Paul and combat sports icon Nate Diaz available for purchase on ESPN+ PPV in the United States, in addition to DAZN PPV.  The long-awaited Paul vs. Diaz showdown event will take place on Saturday, August 5, live at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas.

Over the last 18 months, Paul and Diaz have traded scathing public jabs about a potential fight, and now the world will finally see the duo go head-to-head to settle the score. Paul (6-1, 4KO’s) will be out for revenge as he prepares for his first fight since his split-decision defeat against Tommy Fury. Hungrier than ever to show the world his boxing prowess, the Cleveland native is pulling out all the stops to prepare for this fight, promising to silence the critics with a spectacular KO against the combat sport icon.

Jake Paul’s attempt at redemption will be no easy feat, as he takes on the world-renowned MMA superstar and heart of the 209, Nate Diaz, who makes his highly anticipated boxing debut after being the most sought-after free agent in combat sports history. A proven fighter who regularly sparred undefeated Hall of Fame boxer Andre Ward during his career, Diaz has won 22-fights as a pro, including devastating Conor McGregor with a 1-2 that lead to the Irishman’s first loss in the UFC.

We will work with all broadcasters, platforms and promotional companies to deliver the most entertaining and anticipated matchups.”

“This is an unprecedented alliance between Most Valuable Promotions, DAZN, ESPN, and Top Rank that is driven by the partnership between MVP and Real Fight Inc to put together this massive cross-cultural event, and we could not be more excited to extend the Paul vs. Diaz PPV to ESPN+ fans on Saturday August 5th,” said MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian. “The magnitude of our pay-per-view collaboration speaks to the immense star power of Jake Paul and Nate Diaz and their command of PPV audiences. September 18: Kenshiro Teraji-Hekkie Budler & Junto Nakatani-Argi Cortes World Title Doubleheader to Stream LIVE and Exclusively in the U.S. on ESPN+

(July 31, 2023) – Japan’s unified WBC/WBA light flyweight world champion Kenshiro Teraji will defend his titles against South African two-division world champion Hekkie Budler on Monday, September 18, at Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan.

In the co-feature, undefeated Japanese southpaw Junto Nakatani makes the first defense of his WBO junior bantamweight world title against Mexican contender Argi Cortes.

Teraji-Budler, Nakatani-Cortes and additional undercard bouts will stream live and exclusively in the U.S. in the early morning hours on ESPN+.

Teraji (21-1, 13 KOs) earned his first world title by defeating Ganigan Lopez for the WBC 108-pound strap in May 2018. He made eight defenses before losing the belt via 10th-round TKO against Masamichi Yabuki in September 2021. The 31-year-old avenged his lone defeat by stopping Yabuki in the third round of their March 2022 rematch to regain the title. Teraji then stopped Hiroto Kyoguchi last November in the seventh round to unify the WBC and WBA titles. He defended his unified championship with a ninth-round TKO against then-unbeaten contender Anthony Olascuaga in April.

Budler (35-4, 11 KOs) captured the WBA minimumweight world title with a first-round knockout win against Karluis Diaz in March 2014. He made four defenses before losing the belt to Byron Rojas in March 2016. Two years later, he decisioned Ryoichi Taguchi to capture the WBA and IBF light flyweight titles. He vacated his IBF strap and lost the WBA title in his first defense, a 10th-round TKO loss to Hiroto Kyguchi in December 2018. The 35-year-old veteran is 3-0 since losing his title, including a decision win over former WBO champ Elwin Soto.

Nakatani (25-0, 19 KOs) won the vacant WBO flyweight world title in November 2020 with an eighth-round knockout against Giemel Magramo. He defended it twice, defeating Angel Acosta in four rounds and knocking out Ryota Yamauchi in eight. He moved up to junior bantamweight and captured the WBO crown with a highlight-reel knockout against former WBA champ Andrew Moloney in May. Cortes (25-3-2, 10 KOs) is a nine-year pro who nearly upset Juan Francisco Estrada in a fiercely-contested September 2022 showdown. Cortes is coming off a 10-round majority decision win over Adolfo Castillo Gonzalez in March.

In other streaming action from Tokyo:

  • Former multi-division kickboxing world champion Tenshin Nasukawa (1-0) will return in an eight-round Junior featherweight battle against undefeated Mexican Juan Flores Aceves (9-0, 7 KOs). Nasukawa made his pro boxing debut in April with a six-round decision win over Yuki Yonaha, while Aceves is coming off an eighth-round TKO against then-unbeaten  Adolfo Perez Lopez in June.

  • Anthony Olascuaga (5-1, 3 KOs), from Los Angeles, looks to bounce back from his defeat to Teraji in an eight-round light flyweight battle against Filipino former world title challenger Giemel Magramo (28-3, 23 KOs).

WOOD AND WARRINGTON MEET IN ALL-BRITISH WORLD TITLE SHOWDOWN ON OCTOBER 7 LIVE ON DAZN

Leigh Wood will defend his WBA Featherweight World Title against Josh Warrington in a huge domestic clash on neutral ground at the Utilita Arena Sheffield on Saturday October 7th, shown live worldwide on DAZN.

Nottingham favourite Wood (27-3, 16 KOs) produced a 12-round masterclass against Mexico’s hard-hitting dangerman Mauricio Lara to reclaim his WBA 126lbs crown last time out in May at Manchester’s AO Arena to become Britain’s latest two-time World Champion.

‘Leigh-thal’ lost his World Title after being stopped in the seventh round by knockout artist ‘Bronco’ at the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham earlier this year, but the 34-year-old Gedling warrior showed his courage by evoking an immediate rematch.

Lara had no answer to Wood’s superior skillset on the night, with the Ben Davison-trained fighter executing a brilliant disciplined display that saw him collect a landslide points win with scores in his favour of 118-109 x 2 and 116-111.

Leeds hero Warrington (31-2-1, 8 KOs) is aiming to become a three-time Featherweight World Champion after surrendering his IBF belt to Mexico’s Luis Alberto Lopez following a close points loss at the First Direct Arena last December – his first defeat in his home city.

‘The Leeds Warrior’ regained the IBF strap when he stopped Kiko Martinez in his Leeds fortress in March 2022, flooring the Spaniard in the opening round before ending matters in the seventh round to punctuate a blistering performance in front of his adoring fans.

The former two-time IBF king, who has been out of action since his loss to Lopez, is eager to return to the top of the division and knows that a win over his British rival will put him in pole position for a unification rematch with Lopez – who recently KO’d Michael Conlan in five rounds.

“I’m extremely excited for October 7,” said Wood. “In terms of the followings we’ve got, the football clubs and the cities, this is arguably the biggest British rivalry in the sport. For me, it doesn’t really get any bigger. Our styles will gel and that should make for a very exciting and entertaining fight. It should go down in British history.

“Josh has some great wins on his record and is obviously a two-time World Champion, but this is a fight that he cannot lose. He’s never really been in a boring fight – but neither have I. This fight will be all-action and the fans should be in for a great night.

“I know it will be quite hostile with both sets of fans battling it out vocally, but it should make for a great night. This is one that I need to win, so I can look back on with pride and soak up all the good memories. This is a must-win, for sure.”

“This is a big fight,” said Warrington. “It doesn’t get much better than a domestic dust up for a World Title! I’m obsessed in becoming a three-weight World Champion, to get back on top and that is going to show on the night. I will bring an army of fans to Sheffield and the atmosphere will be special. Leigh has had a good run and put some good wins together but I just don’t believe he can live with me. I hope he thinks my best days are behind me, on October 7 he’ll find out. AND THE NEW!”

“This is a huge all-British World Title clash between two of the best Featherweights on the planet,” said Matchroom Sport Chairman Eddie Hearn. “Nottingham hero Leigh Wood defends his WBA Featherweight crown against ‘The Leeds Warrior’ Josh Warrington after brilliantly reclaiming it against Maurcio Lara in May. It doesn’t get much bigger than this! Both men will be backed by their fanatical supporters for what will be one of the best ever atmospheres at a boxing event.

“Josh Warrington is desperate to be crowned a three-time World Champion after losing his IBF belt last December. Leigh Wood has plans to unify the 126lbs and will give everything he has to keep hold of his belt. Expect fireworks from the opening bell as these two all-action warriors go head to head in a Battle of Britain. Catch it live around the world on DAZN!””A massive fight to add to our autumn schedule,” said Joseph?Markowski, CEO North America, DAZN Group. “Leigh wood vs. Josh Warrington for the WBA Featherweight World Title is an absolute barnstormer – a domestic scrap between two brilliant, aggressive fighters that will deliver from the first bell. Tune in live and exclusive October 7 only on DAZN.”

Tickets for Wood vs. Warrington are priced £40, £60, £80, £100, £150, £200, £300 and £400 (VIP).

Matchroom Fight Pass members will be able to purchase tickets from 10am on Thursday August 3. Priority ticket info will be emailed directly to eligible members ahead of the on-sale time.

JOHNNY FISHER MEDIA WORKOUT QUOTES

‘The Romford Bull’ army were out in full force today as Johnny Fisher vowed to give them something to celebrate in just over two weeks time.

The popular Heavyweight prospect (9-0, 8 KOs) will bid for his first professional title at The O2 in London on the undercard for Anthony Joshua vs. Dillian Whyte 2 – live on DAZN PPV in the UK and Ireland – when he fights ‘Dirty’ Harry Armstrong (5-1-1) for the Southern Area title.

The 24-year-old favourite had a huge following in attendance today as he showcased his skills under the watchful eye of trainer Mark Tibbs and promoter Eddie Hearn at The Origin Gym in Rainham.

Fresh from his devastating first-round stoppage win over Emilio Salas at the OVO Arena Wembley in May, Fisher is confident he will have his hands raised in victory in a fortnight.

“It was good to see all of the media here and a lot of my friends, family and supporters as well”, said Fisher, speaking to Matchroom Boxing. “I did a few sharp rounds on the pads which was perfect as I’ve got a bit of sparring tomorrow. It was a good experience.

“It’s a massive event but I don’t see it any different. I’ve just got to keep doing the job I’ve got at hand. I was finishing my GCSEs and starting my A-Levels when Joshua and Whyte had their first fight. It’s just another fight, another fight that I’ve got to train hard for and win. That’s all it is.

“It’s the right time to step things up. The appetite is there. Life is all about moving forwards and building momentum – I’ve got to keep progressing. I could have probably got to 15 or 20 fights without fighting anyone of note, I know Harry Armstrong isn’t a world-beater but he’s very solid and he’s strong and tough. Harry is a good boxer with fast hands. I’ve sparred him before. He’ll give me a good test and that’s what I need. You’ll see the best out of me when I’m tested.

“That’s the pinnacle for me – fighting on a big PPV show on the undercard of two of the idols I used to watch growing up – Dillian Whyte and Anthony Joshua. I’ve got so much respect for them guys. To be on their undercard and be a small part of a big boxing journey for those guys is special. It’s a good box ticked for me.”

Matchroom Sport Chairman Eddie Hearn was impressed with Fisher and believes he has bigger domestic fights on the horizon should he come through a tough test with Armstrong.

He said: “He looks great. Now it’s the serious stuff. Harry Armstrong, who’s been slung in at the deep end a few times at short notice. He’s a very good fighter and this is actually a very tough fight. It’s time for Johnny. He wanted this fight. We told him he could do another little eight-rounder but he said, ‘no, it’s time now – I want a real test and I want ten rounds’.

“There’s a huge amount of pressure doing it at The O2 in front of an 18,000 sell-out crowd on a massive AJ night as well. The place is going to erupt. He’s just got to stay calm, but he’s had those moments now where he’s walked out on big shows and had those big experiences. I think he’s ready. If he comes through this fight I believe he will start headlining shows and filling arenas himself.

“This route that he is taking is such a beautiful traditional route. You always talk about British, Commonwealth, European – this is deeper than that. This is Southern Area, English , British, Commonwealth and European. That’s the route over the next 6, 7, 8 fights for Johnny Fisher. It’s a big fight for Johnny and for Essex as well.”

Fisher vs. Armstrong is part of a huge night of action in London; two-time unified Heavyweight World Champion Anthony Joshua (25-3, 22 KOs) and former World Title challenger Dillian Whyte (29-3, 19 KOs) lock horns again nearly eight years on from their wild British and Commonwealth Title clash in Greenwich, IBF Mandatory World Title challenger Filip Hrgovic (15-0, 12 KOs) clashes with Australia’s undefeated contender Demsey McKean (22-0, 14 KO), Hyde Super-Lightweight Campbell Hatton (12-0, 5 KOs) takes on Hitchen’s Tom Ansell (10-4, 2 KOs) over eight rounds and there’s action for Billericay Middleweight George Liddard (3-0, 3 KOs) and Eltham Super-Flyweight Maiseyrose Courtney (3-0), with more fights announced soon.

Seniesa Estrada Defends Minimumweight Titles with Unanimous decision Over Yudica

LAS VEGAS – Seniesa Estrada retained the WBA/WBC Ninimumweight titles with a unanimous decision over Leonela Yudica at The Palms Casino Resort.

Estrada landed 161 of 549 punches. Yudica was 144 of 506.

Estrada, 104.4 lbs of East Los Angeles won by scores of 97-93 on all cards and is now 25-0. Yudica, 103.7 lbs of San Juan, ARG is now 19-2-3.

“I knew coming into this fight that she was a boxer who would move away from me and not come forward much. In my preparation, I knew I had to show something different in myself. In my last fight, I fought a good champion who came forward and was aggressive, and I easily outboxed her. In this fight, she’s a boxer and a mover, and I showed that I can fight any type of style because my style is very versatile,” said Estrada.

Going into this fight, I knew she was a natural flyweight so she is a lot bigger than me physically. So I knew she was going to be able to hang in there. She’s fought very good champions before and always went the distance with them.

I definitely had to use my footwork. I have very good footwork. I had to use my feints and movements to make sure I was close enough to land punches and not get countered. I did get countered, of course. It’s a fight, so that’s going to happen. But I just continue to prove that I’m the best in the division.

I want Yokasta Valle. I’m the best in this division. I want to prove it by beating her. She can just hand me those belts right now because when we fight it’s going to be bad for her.

Andres Cortes Stops Xavier Martinez After 7

Andres Cortes beatdown Xavier Martinez after round seven of their 10-round junior lightweight bout.

“I was feeling myself, and I started finding a groove. When that happens, the fight’s over.” said Cortes.

“It was a good stoppage. His eye was messed up. He was having trouble seeing with the eye because he kept blinking.”

“I want the winner of Emanuel Navarrete vs. Oscar Valdez. I want any champion at 130. If not, I’m going to move up 135 and get all of those champions there.”

Rohan Polanco remained undefeated with a fifth round stoppage over Cesar Francis in a scheduled eight-round super welterweight fight.

At the end of round four, Polanco landed a looping left to the head that was followed by a straight right that put Francis on the canvas.

OSCAR “EL PUPILO” COLLAZO TO MAKE HIS FIRST WORLD TITLE DEFENSE IN HIS HOMELAND OF PUERTO RICO AGAINST GAREN “HELLBOY” DIAGAN OF THE PHILIPPINES

SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO (July 28, 2023) – With his eyes locked on legacy making, Puerto Rico’s Oscar “El Pupilo” Collazo (7-0, 5 KOs) will continue his history-making journey as he makes his first WBO Mini Flyweight World Championship defense against Garen “Hellboy” Diagan (10-3, 5 KOs) of General Santos City, Philippines on Saturday, August 26. The first men’s world title fight in Puerto Rico in six years, the special island broadcast of the Golden Boy Fight Night Series on DAZN will take place at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan and is presented in association with Miguel Cotto Promotions. The DAZN broadcast begins at 8:00 p.m. ET/ 5:00 p.m. PT.

Tickets for Golden Boy Fight Night on DAZN: Collazo vs. Diagan go on-sale Monday, July 31, 2023 at 10:00 am AST and are priced at $125, $100, $55, and $25 plus applicable fees. Tickets can be purchased at Ticketera.com.

“El Pupilo” solidified his place at the top of the list of active Puerto Rican boxers with a meteoric rise in the sport through a spectacular knockout of former titleholder Melvin “Gringo” Jerusalem this past May 27 on the undercard of Rocha vs. Young. Displaying his adaptability and surgical use of a heavy left hand punch that hurt the former champion, Collazo crushed a number of records in his victorious championship fight, including shredding the record for the fastest to become a world champion from Puerto Rico.

“I feel super honored to return to fight where I made my pro-debut, and make my first defense there,” said World Champion Oscar Collazo. “Great champions such as Wilfredo Gómez, Wilfredo Benitez, Tito Trinidad and Miguel Cotto have fought there, and this is another historic moment that marks my career once again. I am super grateful to Miguel Cotto Promotions, Golden Boy and DAZN for believing in me and allowing me to make my first defense here, in front of my people of Puerto Rico. I am very excited and grateful.”

“Like all Filipinos, my opponent comes to fight. He is a strong boxer who has come with two great victories. He is tall and he uses his reach well. We have everything planned and we know the hands that I have can attack and make damage. I just want to continue thanking my fans for the support they have given me, and I want them to support me on August 26 to continue making history together with all my beautiful people from the Island,” concluded Collazo.

With a moniker of “Hellboy,” Diagan is a tough southpaw who created chaos in South Africa when he knocked out local hero Simpiwe Konkco and in Vietnam when he outscored world-ranked Huu Toan Le with a split decision victory. Diagan is not a stranger to being the underdog in a foreign land and securing an upset victory.

“I am amped about my opponent, Collazo is a world champion. I will bring my A-game,” said challenger Garen Diagan. “I’ll do my level-best to prove to all that I can hang with the best of them too. My opponent is a tough cookie and well-rounded fighter. There is something about him that sets him apart from the others – he packs a punch and is on a winning spree. He’s got some serious muscle. My coach and I have a plan, we have been putting in the hours in the gym, and I’ll give it everything I’ve got to show everyone that he’s up against a true Filipino.”

More information on the complete undercard will be announced in the coming weeks.

ERROL SPENCE JR. VS. TERENCE CRAWFORD FINAL PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES

LAS VEGAS – July 27, 2023 – Undefeated boxing superstars Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr. and Terence “Bud” Crawford faced off Thursday at the final press conference before they meet to crown the first undisputed welterweight champion of the four-belt era this Saturday, July 29 headlining a SHOWTIME PPV from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas in an event presented by Premier Boxing Champions.

To kick off the main event portion of the press conference, legendary heavyweight champion Mike Tyson conducted a coin toss to determine which fighter would walk to the ring last on Saturday night. Crawford won the toss and can now decide whether he would like to walk to the ring last, or be introduced last once in the ring.

The press conference also saw pay-per-view undercard fighters face off before their respective matchups on the telecast beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. The pay-per-view will see hard-hitting contender Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz and undefeated contender Giovanni Cabrera battle in a WBC and WBA Lightweight Title Eliminator that serves as the co-main event, future Hall of Famer Nonito Donaire take on Mexican contender Alexandro Santiago for the vacant WBC Bantamweight World Championship, plus top prospect Yoenis Tellez duels Spanish contender Sergio Garcia in the telecast opener.

Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by Man Down Promotions, TBC Promotions and TGB Promotions, are available through AXS.com.

Here is what the press conference participants had to say Thursday from T-Mobile Arena:

ERROL SPENCE JR.

“I’m gonna win because I’m the better fighter. I’m better physically and mentally. I’m more durable. I’m gonna break him down and break his will.

“It would mean a lot to be undisputed. It would mean that I’m one of the greatest welterweights to ever lace up a pair of gloves.

“He’s gonna find out that my skills are superior. He’s talented, but when we talk about what my coach teaches, he’s gonna see that I have great offense, defense and stamina. It’s more than just talent.

“This is gonna be legendary. Make sure you tune-in. This is gonna be an old school fight. It’s gonna be iconic. You’re gonna want to buy this fight. You’re getting your money’s worth.

“People are gonna talk about this fight 30 or 40 years from now when you talk about legendary fights. They’re gonna talk about this fight the same way they talked about the ‘Four Kings’ era. There’s gonna be an amateur 20 years from now watching our fight on YouTube and saying man, I want to be in a fight like that.

“Everyone knows it’s ‘Strap Season’. I want to thank my parents, because they blessed me with the resiliency to get through a lot of stuff in life. Make sure you order the fight on SHOWTIME PPV. I guarantee you I’m gonna put on a great show. Bring your seasoning on Saturday night, because we’re gonna have a crawfish boil. Bring that hot sauce too.

“I guarantee you it’s gonna be nothing but fireworks from start to finish.”

TERENCE CRAWFORD

“I don’t go in there looking for the knockout, I go in there looking for the win. If he gets out of line he’s gonna be the next one going down.

“Everyone knows what time it is. I’m ready and he’s ready. We’re gonna have a fish fry come Saturday.

“He’s gonna find out the same thing that everyone else finds out. He’s gonna say that on TV I look one way. In the ring he’s gonna be seeing three of me.

“They say he’s the big bad wolf, but come fight night we’re gonna find out if he’s all that he says he is. He’s gonna have to show me.

“Everything about me is better than Errol. When you look at what I do in the ring, it’s better than what he does. Come fight night, I’m going to prove every doubter wrong. I’m going to show that I’m the best fighter in the world.

“This is the Terence Crawford era. When you look at my body of work in each weight class, you can’t deny that. This is my era. I’ve never had a close fight. I’ve never had a fight where people thought I lost. I’ve looked spectacular every time.

“This is what we do every time we come out. That talking can turn bad real quick. Support your fighter, and let’s come together and make this event a success.”

DERRICK JAMES, Spence’s Trainer

“There’s no more talking. Nothing else to say. My chant is, it’s time to eat. It’s time to make it happen. We’re tired of talking. It’s time to go. Show time.

“It takes a lot of fortitude, discipline and focus to win fights like this. Errol has that. He knows his time is on Saturday. We made this happen. We took every belt and beat champions to get here.”

BRIAN “BO MAC” MCINTYRE, Crawford’s Trainer

“We’re here now y’all. There’s nothing else to say. He can’t hide anymore. It’s time to take care of business. It’s time to go to work.

“We’re gonna find out who the best man is. I respect them for what they’ve done. We’ve been here before. You’re trying to get here. I can tell you how it is to be undisputed. Sit back and watch.”

ISAAC CRUZ

“I’m going to come out on Saturday and prove my worth. I’m going to show why I deserve a rematch with Gervonta Davis.

“I’m coming here to do my job and send a clear message. I’m not overrated, I’m worth every penny. I’m here to show everyone what I can do inside the ring.

“Let’s see who eats whose punches and who can withstand the most. I am going to eat Cabrera up.

“I’m a real Mexican fighter and I’m gonna show everyone what I can do once again on Saturday night.”

GIOVANNI CABRERA

“I’ve beaten more unbeaten fighters than most in boxing history. If you look at Cruz’s first 20 fights, most of those opponents were not good at all. I believe that I’ve earned my spot here and that I’m going to take the win.

“I’m 21-0 for a reason. Everyone I know has tried to take my head off and I’ve picked every single one of them apart.

“I want to represent Chicago and my Mexican blood. I’m here to give it my all, put my soul on the line and make sure I don’t regret anything.

“I hope he’s hungry; he’s going to eat a lot of punches. I am coming here to eat ‘Pitbull’ tacos.”

NONITO DONAIRE

“I gambled in my last fight, and sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Going into this fight, I just have to show everyone that I’ve still got it. I’m doing it for me now and to show what I’m capable of. I love the sport and I’m grateful that I’m getting the opportunity.

“The power at this age is so much more potent. I put so much more into it. Not just emotion and experience, but I put every essence of a man into this.

“I have to give big respect to my opponent, he’s never been down. But I’m the type of guy where if I see the opportunity, I’ll take it. There’s nothing more satisfying than a knockout.

“I don’t really look into the extra stuff. I have a bigger vision ahead of me. I want to become undisputed. That’s the only thing that I haven’t done in boxing. I’ve gotten lots of accolades, but never been undisputed. That’s my biggest purpose and that’s why I’m still fighting.

ALEXANDRO SANTIAGO

“In 2018 when I fought for the title, I was young. That fight is in the past. Through hard work, discipline and having a great team, I was able to grow. I’m way more mature now. I came here to become a world champion.

“All respect to Nonito. But on Saturday night people all over the world are going to get to know me and see what I’m capable of. I’m gonna put on a show for everyone watching.

“I have a fire inside of me. I want to make this dream come true. It’s not just about the objective, it’s about the journey. I’ve enjoyed how I’ve gotten here. My son was born two months ago, so this goes out to him and my family. It makes me want this even more.”

YOENIS TELLEZ

“This is just about taking advantage of a great opportunity given to me. We put experience to the side, because I just have to do my job and focus on winning.

“I promise that you’re going to see another Cuban fighter with championship potential. You’re going to see someone who’s skill is rising fast. The fans are going to see something they will definitely enjoy.”

SERGIO GARCIA

“I would have done the exact same thing he did. I’m not in a position to underestimate anyone. I have to win this fight to get what I want. What he does is his business.

“I’m going to show you what I can do. I don’t have to promise anything. I’ve trained so hard and you’ve seen that I’m the kind of fighter who leaves it all on the line. I’m going to give the fans the show they deserve and let the chips fall where they may.”

TOM BROWN, President of TGB Promotions

“I’ve been in this business over 35 years and I haven’t been this pumped up in a long time for a fight. This is spectacular and as good of a matchup as you can get.

“We have the two best fighters in the world, both unbeaten world champions and just so talented. It’s gonna be an all-out war from start to finish.

“When you look at the skills of each fighter, everything is so equal. Everything is so close between them. It’s gonna come down to who wants it more. It’s about mental toughness and who can dig down the deepest. There will be a new undisputed pound-for-pound champion on Saturday night.”

STEPHEN ESPINOZA, President, SHOWTIME Sports

“We are in the business of helping to create once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Saturday night is exactly that. It’s not a boxing match or a television show. Calling it those things doesn’t do it justice. A fight of this magnitude with these stakes is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

Estela looks to shine in battle of unbeatens vs Thompson

Orlando, FL (July 27, 2023) – Jeovanny Estela will take his next step towards welterweight contention Friday evening when he faces fellow unbeaten prospect Chris Thompson in an eight-round bout at the Caribe Royale in his hometown of Orlando.

For the local favorite Estela (11-0, 3 knockouts), Friday’s fight will be his ninth overall at the venue since he turned professional at the end of 2020. The 23-year-old will be taking a step-up in competition against Kansas City native Thompson (9-0, 6 KOs).

“This is a very important fight, it’s my biggest test,” said Estela, who volunteers at local food banks when he is not training. “That’s how I look at every fight, but this is at a higher level. We’re both unbeaten so there’s a lot to prove, especially for me and my fans since I’m from Orlando.”

Estela-Thompson serves as the co-main event of Boxlab Promotions’ “Night of Champions IV.” The show will be broadcast as a triple header on CBS Sports Network and will be shown on a one-hour tape delay, beginning at 10 p.m. ET.

The ten-round main event features Cuban prospect Idalberto Umara (10-1, 7 KO’s) facing off with William Encarnacion (20-5, 16 KO’s) for the WBA Fedelatin lightweight title.

The televised portion of the card opens with an eight round heavyweight bout pitting highly-touted Henrich Ruiz Cordoba (3-0, 3 KOs) against Dionardo Minor (6-1-2, 2 KOs).

The undercard features exciting prospects and rising stars Junior Younan, Roberto Rivera Gomez, Angel Chavez, Julio Rosa, Jonathan Cortes, Giovanni Louis, Jamar Pemberton, Gustavo Trujillo, and Kevin Nunez.

Tickets for the event, which begin at $40 for general admission can be purchased through Ticketmaster https://www.ticketmaster.com/event/22005EDB9900BAEC

DAVIS VS CUNNINGHAM PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES

FOUR CHAMPIONSHIP BELTS will be on the line on Saturday in Telford when Liam Davies takes on Jason Cunningham in the headliner at the Telford International Centre, live on TNT Sports. Today, the lead characters from the card – Davies, Cunningham, Moses Itauma, Eithan James and James Moorcroft – met the media and spoke the final words before the big fight night.

Photos from today’s press conference can be downloaded here.
Photos are free to use, please credit Queensberry where possible.

Below is a selection of key quotes from the event.

Liam Davies
I am feeling a million dollars, everything has gone good, I feel like all the fights I’ve taken in my career so far have built me into this position. He wants to show he is No.1 super bantamweight, but I am No.1 and on Saturday night you are gonna see why because I’m going to do a number on him. He messaged me saying he was going to smash my head in and since I’ve seen him everything’s changed. In a few days we will get to see whose head gets smashed in. I am going to take you out inside 12 rounds, you’re old, you’re weak and slow, man. You’re too small, you’re thin. Trust me, I know what is going to happen. I stand by everything I’ve said, it’s personal and I am going to settle it on Saturday.

Jason Cunningham
I have heard it all before about being written off and I have been in these four-belt fights before. Telford has become my second home since I have been with Queensberry but, obviously, I expect it to be a bit more hostile on Saturday night. I am very much looking forward to it, I’m excited to be back out again on the big stage, with it being TNT’s first show with Queensberry. So it is all good, main event, I am looking forward to a great fight to show why I am the No.1 super bantamweight with Queensberry. It’s kind of been the Liam show and even this week I’ve just let him do what he does and enjoy building it up. It goes straight over my head, he can’t get under my skin. It is only a matter of days away, the talking is done and he can keep going on as much as he wants. I cannot wait for Saturday night. It has proper put the fire in my belly, Telford is in for a great fight.

Moses Itauma
I’d say I was happy to get the rounds in last time. Obviously in my first two fights I was boxing doughnuts so it was good to get those rounds under my belt and I am looking to put on another performance on Saturday night. I don’t really take notice of other fights, I hope Matty Harris gets back on his feet and maybe we can get something sorted. Saturday night is my main focus and whatever happens after that is after that. It has obviously been tough sparring with Dubois getting ready for Usyk. I feel like it is my time and I will let Dubois handle his business. This is my fight now. I’d never rule out Dubois, he’s got that puncher’s chance, but it is a big ask. Against Espindola, these are the step-ups I’ve been asking for so I’m happy I’ve got them and I can show my skill set on Saturday night. It will get me in the talk with the other British heavyweights.

Eithan James
We have had a good camp, have been abroad and sparred some good people. Obviously we have had some setbacks but I am finally getting this title shot now. I have been asking for step-ups all the way along, there have been a couple of pull-outs and that is not what we want. He is a good lad with good credits on his card and hopefully I get one on my card on Saturday night. This is the pro game and it is completely different, but having the experience from going abroad against different styles plays into my hands, with being able to adapt. But on Saturday night he will be a different style again so I will have to do what I do best and adapt to win. It is never my plan to go in there and stop people. I can do the rounds, my legs can do the rounds and now I feel a lot stronger at welterweight. I ask my sparring partners so I know I punch hard enough to be in there for 10 rounds. I win by being me.

James Moorcroft
It is a massive fight and I have been in some big fights, but nothing compares to this in England on a massive show on TNT Sports. I am ready for a big fight and I’m ready to go. I’m feeling great, I’ve been with Anthony (Crolla) now for about three years and I feel like it is all just coming together. Anthony is going to let me off the reins, I hope, on Saturday night and we are in for a good night of boxing. I’m more than ready for this now. It feels amazing, I am in with a quality guy in Eithan James, I have done my homework and looked at him and I cannot congratulate him enough on his phenomenal amateur career. But amateur and professional boxing are two worlds apart at times and I am ready to put it all on the line and give everything on Saturday night. It is time to bust the bookies!

SMITH vs EUBANK II: REPEAT OR REVENGE? – PHASE 1 UNDERCARD ANNOUNCEMENT

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND – July 27, 2023 – BOXXER, the next generation boxing promotion, are delighted to announce four exciting additions to the undercard for the highly-anticipated rematch between Liam Smith and Chris Eubank Jr on Saturday, September 2nd at the AO ArenaManchester, live and exclusive on Sky Sports Box Office.

Bitter middleweight rivals Smith and Eubank Jr will meet in the middle of the ring for a second time following their epic January encounter, which saw ‘Beefy’ claim a stunning fourth-round stoppage victory.

Hostilities have escalated since their first fight and are set to reach boiling point when they return to the AO Arena on September 2nd

Eubank Jr is out for revenge, believing Smith used an elbow in the combination that sent him to the canvas, while Smith is eager to secure another decisive win to put an end to their rivalry and Eubank Jr’s career once and for all.

Demand for the rematch is huge, with over 70% of tickets snapped up during a record-breaking pre-sale, and is set to become even bigger following the announcement of four exciting additions to the undercard.

Tokyo 2020 Olympic Bronze Medallist Frazer Clarke returns to action having banked 10 invaluable rounds against former world title challenger Mariuz Wach at York Hall in June and is set to lock horns with ‘The White Rhino’ Dave Allen

Now 7-0, Burton’s Clarke will be aiming to continue his transition from highly-regarded amateur to successful pro as he takes on Allen in a tantilising ten round domestic heavyweight dust up.

Allen, who is undefeated in his last four contests, has brought in the expertise of sought after coaches Jamie Moore and Nigel Travis to work alongside Roger Sampson to prepare him for this fight.

Having previously shared the ring with the likes of David Price, Tony Yoka, Luis Ortiz and Dillian Whyte, and secured high-profile wins over Lucas Browne and Nick Webb, the Doncaster fan favourite will be looking to claim another sizable scalp in front of a raucous Manchester crowd.

‘The Albanian King’ Florian Marku will take on Ireland’s Dylan Moran in a ten round welterweight contest.

Marku has recovered from the hand injury he took into his memorable homecoming fight against Miguel Parra at Air Albania Stadium last year and will want to continue to showcase improvements made under coach Grant Smith.

Like Marku, Moran is fresh from his own homecoming fight having secured a stoppage win against Mauro Maximiliano Godoy at the WIT Arena in Waterford in April. The 28-year-old southpaw now has the opportunity to prove if he is ‘The Real Deal’, as his ring moniker suggests, and to boost his profile against his popular opponent.

2020 Olympic Silver Medallist Ben Whittaker continues to dazzle and delight with his stylish approach to the sweet science. Trained by SugarHill Steward, the Wolverhampton wonderkid secured his fourth professional win with the eighth-round stoppage of Vladimir Belujsky on the undercard of Savannah Marshall’s undisputed clash against Franchón Crews-Dezur in Manchester. Whittaker will make a swift return to the AO Arena on September 2nd and have the chance to showcase his star power on the big stage once again.

In another mouth-watering domestic clash, Oldham’s Mark Heffron will defend his British and Commonwealth Super Middleweight titles against Jack Cullen.

Heffron, who trains out of Manchester’s Champs Camp gym under the guidance of Joe Gallagher, was forced to pull out of a scheduled defence of his British title against Zak Chelli on July 2 due to injury. Now fully fit, the 31-year-old will defend his belts against ‘Little Lever’s Meat Cleaver’, the former WBO and IBF International Champion, who is looking to bounce back from a stoppage loss to dangerous Californian Diego Pacheco.

Ben Shalom, BOXXER’s promoter and CEO, said “We’re delighted to announce the first four additions to what promises to be an action-packed undercard. The response to Smith-Eubank II has been incredible. Manchester is going to be rocking on September 2nd. We look forward to releasing more undercard announcements soon.”

SMITH vs EUBANK II: REPEAT OR REVENGE? is presented in association with official partners bet365, WOW HYDRATEEverlast and Village Hotels

Tickets for the blockbuster clash at the AO Arena in Manchester are available via Boxxer.com

Kendrick “Peppa” Ball, Jr. headlining Card in baseball park he helped build

WORCESTER, Mass. (July 27, 2023) – As surreal as it must be for Worcester native Kendrick “Peppa” Ball, Jr. (20-1-3, 12 KOs), he will headline the first boxing event hosted at Polar Park – where he helped build the ballpark — on the August 4th (Aug. 5 rain date) “Punch-Out at Polar Park” Pro-Am card, presented by Shearns Boxing Promotions (SBP) in conjunction with Kenrick Ball’s Camp Get Right Boxing, in in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Back in 2020, Ball’s first union job was as a construction worker building Polar Park, the home of the Boston Red Sox Triple-A affiliate Worcester Red Sox (WooSox), voted as the best minor league baseball park in America. A share of the proceeds will be donated to local charities.

“When I first started working at Polar Park,” Ball, Jr. explained, “it was just a dirt field. I saw the blueprint and it looked cool, but I couldn’t imagine it would look like it does today. It’s so weird being there now. It brings back memories and I picture myself working there in different spots. Two years later, my dad (head trainer Kendrick Ball, Sr.) is promoting the first boxing show there with Chuck (Shearns). I’ve thrown out the (ceremonial) first pitch three times at Polar Park and now I’m headlining the first boxing show there. Life is weird sometimes.

“Some people had been talking about boxing there back then and I wanted to headline. I think I deserve it as the biggest ticket seller in Worcester. It really hasn’t hit me yet that I’m headlining the first outdoor show in Worcester boxing history and the first boxing ever at Polar Park. But my main focus has been on my opponent. I know it’s big. I hope people understand the magnitude of this historic boxing event.”

Ball takes on Oscar “Moustro” Riojas (28-16-3, 16 KOs), of Mexico, in the eight-round main event. Riojas has become a gatekeeper, of sorts, having fought the likes of Carlos Gongora, Joseph Ward, Diego Pacheco, Vladimir Shiskin, and Vyacheslav Shabranskyy, among the more notables.

“I know my opponent is a lefty and very tough,” Ball added. “Mexican fighters are known for their toughness. I’ve fought two lefties in the second half of my career. It’s going to be a real challenge for me.

“I’m hoping this fight will lead to a big payday. I think I deserve it; I have 20 wins as a pro. I haven’t had that big payday yet. This is what I love and why I’m chasing the big money. But I’m really only focused right now on winning and giving a good performance.”

The co-featured event has instant classic written all over it as “Don’t Play” Sean Bey (7-0, 7 KOs), fighting out of Stoughton (MA) by way of Providence, throws-down with Pittsfield (MA) heavyweight Quintin Sumpter (6-1, 4 KOs) in a potentially explosive eight-round bout. Bey is a cancer survivor who was a celebrated amateur: four-time New England Golden Gloves Champion, Northeast PAL Regional titlist, and Ringside World silver medalist. Sumpter was a football player who started in boxing relatively late, albeit quickly developing into a New England Golden Gloves (Novice) Champion.

Undefeated Brockton super featherweight “King” Kevin Walsh (9-0, 4 KOs) puts his untarnished pro record on the line against local favorite, Philp Davis (3-5-2, 0 KOs), in a six-rounder that promises fireworks.

Four-time National Golden Gloves Champion Melanie “Pitbull” Costa (1-0, 1 KO), a police officer in Norton (MA), meets Brazilian super bantamweight Kalinda Walkiria De Carvalho Faria (1-0) in a four-round match.

Puerto Rican welterweight Josniel “TG” Castro (9-1, 7 KOs), fighting out of Boca Raton (FL but with a strong New England fan-base, meets his Argentinian opponent, Jorge “Tomatito” Martin Garcia (13-11-1, 3 KOs), in a six-round bout.

Also fighting on the undercard, each in four-round fights, are pro-debuting Douglas (MA) welterweight Robert Degaetano vs. Michael “Titan” Taylor (1-5), Worcester police officer Neal Sullivan (0-0-1) vs. Brazilian welterweight Michael Medeiros (0-4), pro-debuting Dorchester (MA) lightweight Tevin “The Hitman” Regis vs. Joshua Zimmerman (0-10), and Johnson (RI) super middleweight James Maner (3-0, 2 KOs) vs. Framingham’s Saul “The Spider” Almeida (1-17-4, 1 KO).

The inaugural Carlos Garcia Tournament, showcasing amateur boxers from throughout New England, will precede the start of the pro card.

“Punch-Out at Polar Park” will be streamed live on www.bxngtv.com

Doors open at 5 p.m. ET with the first amateur match starting then (6 p.m. ET), the pro card starts at 7 p.m. ET.

Tickets are priced at $205.00 (Field VIP – rows 1-4, all padded seats), $155.00 (VIP), $75.00 (Home Plate Reserved – rows 5 and beyond, not padded seats) and $45.00 (Reserved), and available for purchase at Polar Park’s box office (508.500.8888), and online at www.polarpark.com/boxing.

Sponsorship opportunities are available. Please email all inquiries for details to ShearnsBoxingPromotions@gmail.com.

At Wednesday’s press conference, this is what the fighters had to say.Seniesa Estrada

“This is just the beginning. We’re at a time in women’s boxing where all the top women are starting to headline. So, I’m just grateful and happy with Top Rank and ESPN for allowing me to be one of the female fighters that is leading the way for the next generation and for all the women in the sport.”

“I go into every fight wanting to make a statement. I always want to show a different part of everything I can do in the ring. I never overlook any opponent. I know that she has faced tough champions before, and she is not afraid to take a risk and fight champions. But my style is unlike any other champion she’s faced.”

“Everyone thinks they’re going to shock the world when they get in the ring me. But then, that bell rings and they see that my style is just different. I’m a different fighter.”

Leonela Yudica

“I’m very happy to have this opportunity. It’s a great pleasure, as a native from San Juan, Argentina, to be able to present myself for the first time in Las Vegas so that everyone can get to know me for the first time. It’s a great opportunity, and I am ready for this.”

“I’m positive that they have underestimated me. I have had a lot of fights, and I have a lot of experience. I defended my flyweight title 10 times. And while it is a great challenge to be going down in weight, I am ready and prepared to show that I have everything it takes to become world champion again.”

Andres Cortes

“I’m very excited. I’d beat both of these guys [Martinez and Nova] on the same night. I’m willing to knock out two guys in the same week. I’m not worried about him [Martinez]. He’s in here looking like a homeless man. This is easy work. I look good and I feel good. And I can’t wait to smack this guy.”

“I run Vegas. This is my city. I think Martinez’s biggest mistake was leaving {trainer} Ray Woods. He’s going to say that this is his greatest camp. But he’s hunched back and he looks scared. He’s afraid. And I can’t wait to put on a good ass-whooping’.”

Xavier Martinez

“I’m really excited to come back. In my last fight, things happened. But that’s life. It is what it is. But I’m bouncing back. I had a great camp for this one. I’m excited to go out there and do what I do. I’m ready to get back to where I need to be.”

“Working with Robert Garcia has been great. This camp went a lot better than the previous one. I had more time with him this time because he was more focused with Anthony Joshua around the time I had my first fight with him. This time, we were actually able to work more.”

Abraham Nova

“‘My motto is, ‘No fear, no doubt.’ You have to have no fear and you have to keep moving forward. Robeisy Ramirez is a tough fighter. A lot of things didn’t go my way in that fight. But you’ve got to be mentally strong in this game. Confidence is the biggest thing that will help us fighters move forward.”

“You will always see fireworks in my fights. I come to get the knockout. Jonathan Romero is a tough opponent. He is a former world champion. I’m excited about what I’m going to do Friday night.”

ERROL SPENCE JR. VS. TERENCE CRAWFORD UNDERCARD MEDIA WORKOUT QUOTES

LAS VEGAS – July 26, 2023 – Fighters competing on the Errol Spence Jr. vs Terence Crawford SHOWTIME PPV undercard showed off their skills at an open to the public media workout on Wednesday before they step into the ring this Saturday, July 29 in a Premier Boxing Champions event from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The workout featured hard-hitting contender Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz and undefeated contender Giovanni Cabrera, who battle in a WBC and WBA Lightweight Title Eliminator that serves as the co-main event, future Hall of Famer Nonito Donaire and Mexican contender Alexandro Santiago, who meet for the vacant WBC Bantamweight World Championship, plus top prospect Yoenis Tellez and Spanish contender Sergio Garcia, who duel in the telecast opener at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by Man Down Promotions, TBC Promotions and TGB Promotions, are available through AXS.com.

The event also saw special appearances by the main event combatants Spence and Crawford, who addressed the fans in attendance ahead of their long-awaited clash Saturday night.

“It’s strap season, and we’re going to crawfish boil another guy on Saturday night,” said Spence. “We’re going to cook him up real good, so everyone make sure you bring your cajun seasoning… It’s going to be one for the history books. This is going to be one you’ll be talking about for a very long time.”

“It’s another day in the office. I’m prepared for everything that’s going to come with securing a victory Saturday,” said Crawford. “I’ve been here before, and now it’s just a waiting game…You can expect fireworks and the best Terence Crawford that you guys have seen.”

Here is what the undercard fighters had to say Wednesday from MGM Grand:

ISAAC CRUZ

“I’m just going to have to be smart, and not get into his game. I need to dictate everything.

“The big fights and the big moments I’ve had definitely helped me mature, and the quality of opponents I’ve had have made me better ever since I fought them.”

GIOVANNI CABRERA

“His [Isaac Cruz] name is Pitbull. I thought he was going to bite me [at the fighter arrivals]. Good thing he didn’t.

“The bigger the anger of the beast, the harder he is going to fall on my sword. I am a bull fighter. I am a matador. Every fighter I have faced has tried to take my head off and I’ve picked them apart.”

NONITO DONAIRE

“Everybody showed up to dance around, but I’m going to show all of these guys what this old man can do.

“I’m going to keep going. I’m going to keep fighting, and I’m going to get that undisputed bantamweight title. That’s the only thing I have not done. I’ve done everything else – Fighter of the Year, Knockout of the Year, multiple divisions unified.”

ALEXANDRO SANTIAGO

“I fully respect a legend like Donaire outside the ring no matter what, but inside the ring, my hunger to win is unparalleled and I don’t care who is in front of me.

“It is an advantage that I am young, but Donaire’s a very dangerous fighter regardless of his age. I’m not about to underestimate him because he punches really hard and can be very dangerous if you let him.”

YOENIS TELLEZ

“I’m good enough, I’m skilled enough and I’m hungry enough to take on something like this. When you have an opportunity to fight on a huge card like this one, it’s impossible to turn it down.

“There are so many things we want to do Saturday night. We’re going to put on a show, and you’re going to see me show out.”

SERGIO GARCIA

“I’m so honored to be a part of this with all of you. All I want to do is put on a great show, because that’s what you all deserve.

“It doesn’t surprise me one bit that Tellez took this fight. Who wouldn’t take a fight like this on a card like this regardless of how many fights you’ve had beforehand? Experience will just be one factor of many in this fight.”
