Adams, Gasparyan, Thompson and Skorokhod advance in Boxcino Jr. Middlweight tournament

UNCASVILLE, CONN (February 15, 2015) –Brandon Adams, Vito Gasparyan, John Thompson and Stanyslav Skorokhod all won their quarterfinal match-ups at the Mohegan Sun and advanced to the semi-final round of the Boxcino 2015 jr. middleweight tournament.

All Boxcino bouts were scheduled for 6-rounds.

The tournament is promoted by exclusively by Banner Promotions and shown on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights.

This card was promoted by Banner Promotions in association with Jimmy Burchfield’s CES Boxing.

Adams, who was a Boxcino 2014 middleweight tournament runner up,scored a 5th round stoppage over Alex Perez in what was an entertaining slug fest.

The fight saw both guys fight inside and land some thudding shots. It was Adams speed inside that proved to be the difference as it looked he landed the more authoritative blows and was slowly breaking down Perez.

In round five, Adams landed a booming right that sent Perez to the canvas. Perez got to his knees before the bout was stopped at 2:47 of round five.

Adams, 155 lbs of Los Angeles is now 16-1 with 11 knockouts. Perez, 152 1/2 lbs of Newark, NJ is 18-2.

“Alex was very tough. I appreciate the fight that he brought and it made me step up my game,” said Adams.

“In the end, I loaded up my shots. I showed that I have the speed and I established the jab. I had a lot of fun in there. I am looking forward to the next fight. I am going, maybe I will take Monday off and I will be back in the gym.”

Vito Gasparyan scored a 6-round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Simeon Hardy.

Gasparyan was more active and outworked Hardy and forced the battle on the inside against the taller Hardy, where Gasparyan was able to get the better of the exchanges.

Gasparyan, 155 lbs from Glendale, CA won by scores of 60-54, 59-55 and 58-56 and is now 15-3-5. Hardy, 154 1/4 lbs of Brooklyn is now 13-1.

“It was a good fight. I proved that I belong at this level,” said Gasparyan.

“I am now looking forward to the next fight. I am going to work hard and take one step at a time. I felt good and confident in there. I am dedicating this victory to my trainer Justin Fortune who couldn’t be here after just beating an illness.”

Late replacement John Thompson boxed his way to a 6-round unanimous decision over Ricardo Pinell.

Thompson used his height and reach to keep Pinell at bay. Thompson was effective with quick combinations that never let Pinell get on track.

Thompson, 154 1/4 lbs of Newark, NJ won by scores of 60-54 on cards and is now 16-1. Pinell, 154 lbs of San Francisco, CA is now 10-2-1.

“I outboxed him for the most part. I was able to know a little about him and I went off what I saw on youtube,” said Thompson.

“I saw he had a few bad habits. Now that I have time to prepare it will be a lot better. I know I have a lot to work on. I will take one week off and I will be back in the gym.”

Syanyslav Skorokhod scored a 4th round stoppage over Michael Moore in a battle of previously undefeated fighters.

In round two, Skorokhod started to find the range with power shots with both hands. Towards the end of the round, Skorokhod landed a hard right that backed Moore up to the corner. In round three, Skorohod dropped Moore with a perfect right hand.

In round four, Skorohod dropped Moore once again with a hard right. Morre got up only to eat a flurry of punches and the bout was stopped at 1:03 round four.

Skorohod, 153 3/4 lbs of Los Angeles is now 9-0 with 7 knockouts. Moore, 154 3/4 lbs of Cleveland, OH is 13-1.

“I am glad that I won. My next fight will be even better,”said a victorious Skorokhod.

“I was prepared for a southpaw and I knew the pressure would be the difference. Once I applied the pressure, I saw he could not do anything. I can prepare for any kind of the style being that I train with some of the best fighters at Wild Card Gym.”

Adams will meet Gasparyan while Skorokhod will fight Thompson on April 3 in Corona, California.

In undercard action:

In what was a rock em -sock em affair, Jimmy Williams was able to pound his way to a 4th-round stoppage over Eddie Caminero in a scheduled 6-round Middleweight bout.

It looked like it would be a short and easy night for Williams as he repeatedly hurt Caminero in the first round to the point were Caminero was staggering all over the ring on several occasions. Caminero was able to gather himself and make the fight a two way brawl with each guy holding on at different points of the fight.

Williams steadied himself enough to land a perfect left hook that sent Caminero to the deck at 32-seconds of round four.

Williams, 156 1/4 lbs of Hartford, CT is now 9-0-1 with 5 knockouts. Caminero, 157 1/4 lbs of Lawrenceville, MA is 7-9.

Khiary Gray-Pitts battered and bloodied the nose of Rodrigo Almeida in the first round and the bout was halted in the corner following the opening frame of their scheduled 4-round Light Heavyweight bout.

Gray-Pitts landed thudding shots that had Almeida on the defensive from the outset. Almeida’s nose was bloody and face was bruised up after just three minutes of action and could not continue after the first frame.

Gray-Pitts, 164 1/4 lbs of Worcester, MA is now 5-0 with 3 knockouts. Almeida, 172 1/2 lbs of Woburn, MA is 1-2.

In the opening bout of the evening, Oscar Bonilla and Angel Martinez battled a 4-round draw in a Lightweight bout.

Bonilla won a card 39-37 while two cards were even at 38-38.

Bonilla, 133 lbs of New Haven, CT is 3-0-2. Martinez, 132 1/4 lbs of Austin, TX is 5-1-1.

In the walkout bout Ray Oliveira Jr. scored a stoppage after round two of a scheduled 4-round Lightweight bout over Ralph Johnson.

Oliveira is now 3-0 with 2 knockouts. Johnson is 1-4

Rossy looks to get back into title contention Tonight against Muralimov

Queens, NY (February 14, 2015)- As recent as 2011, Derric Rossy was rated highly by the IBF. In fact he was entered in a 4 man elimination tournament that would name a mandatory challenger for Wladimir Klitschko.

Rossy fell short as he lost a 12-round unanimous decision to Eddie Chambers on February 11, 2011 in Atlantic City.

Fast forward three years and three days, Rossy has had average results since but his willingness to fight anyone and some great (but unrewarded) performances has him a fee steps away from regaining his status in the Heavyweight division.

He takes that first step on tonight when he takes on undefeated Akhror Muralimov for the IBF North American Heavyweight title Resorts World Casino New York in one of the co-main events of a card that will be televised live on CBS Sports Network beginning at 10:30 PM ET.

In another co-main event, undefeated Mike Lee battles Gary Tapusoa for the UBF All Americas title.

The show is promoted by Sal Musumeci’s Final Forum boxing.

“Everything went well during training. It actually went better than expected and I am feeling really strong,” said the 34 year-old native of Medford, NY.

Rossy is coming off a 10-round majority decision defeat to current number-two ranked Vyacheslav Glazkov on August 9 in a fight that most who watched the fight thought Rossy should have got the verdict.

“It didn’t go my way. I held my own if not won the fight. I had confidence that I would win and people telling me I won lifted me up.”

He faces a tough minded fighter in Muralimov who holds a perfect mark of 16-0 with 13 knockouts. Rossy knows that native of Houston via Uzbekistan will be a tough out on Saturday.

“I know he is very heavy handed and strong. He isn’t the most polished but he knows how to throw punches and you can’t fall asleep on a guy like him because he will put you to sleep if I do.”

Rossy is very excited to perform in front of the national audience as it will be the first show on CBS Sports Network.

“It’s great that all of these networks are now jumping into boxing. It feels like the resurgence of boxing is coming on. It gives more opportunities and I hopefully I can pick up a few more fights along the way.”

With a win, Rossy will pick up the IBF North American belt and that begins the process of re climbing up the rankings.

“It is the nature of the beast. You get knocked down with a loss but fights like this helps you get back up. I need this to show I can get back up to the upper echelon of the Heavyweight division. I just hope people will tune in as it will be an exciting fight. We are two hungry guys. I have a feeling that the bout will turn into a rumble.

Tickets for this great evening of boxing can be purchased at www.rwnewyork.com or www.etix.com.

1st Bout is at 8 PM with the doors opening at 7 PM

Resorts World Casino New York City is located at 110-00 Rockaway Blvd, Jamaica, NY.

Angel Luna Floors Collado Twice Before Earning Unanimous Decision Victory

Long Island City, N.Y. (Friday, Feb. 13, 2015) – Uprising Promotions, in association with Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin, put on another explosive card at the Five Star Banquet Hall in Long Island City on Friday night, thanks in large part an incredible job of matchmaking from promoter Ronson Frank. In the co-feature of The Big Payback, Uprising Promotions featherweight Angel Luna (11-0-1, 7 KOs) dropped Jhovany Collado twice in the opening round of an eventual unanimous decision victory, while Top Rank welterweight John Jackson (16-3-2, 13 KOs) was forced to settle for a majority draw in the main event against a very game Rafael Gonzalez (7-2-2, 6 KOs).

After a highly questionable result in his last bout (majority draw with Victor Serrano in November), Angel Luna came out with extreme aggression against Jhovany Collado, doing all he could to make sure that the ringside judges had little relevance in the outcome of the contest.

About 40 seconds into the opening frame, Luna stepped over a Collado body shot and into a perfectly timed counter right hand that literally sent his opponent stumbling to the opposite side of the ring. However, Collado foreshadowed some impressive resilience by quickly getting back to his feet and choosing to keep engaging. Luna was more than happy to oblige, and he scored a second knockdown in the waning seconds of the round when he flattened Collado with a left hook, straight right hand combination, following a lazy punch to the body from the Queens native.

With three points in his back pocket after the opening frame, Luna seemed to be on his way to an early night, but Collado bit down on his mouth piece and made it a fight for the ensuing five rounds. The action remained within close range for the most part, as Luna looked to stalk with quick head movement while rolling under Collado and making use of the overhand right and inside uppercut.

After six action-packed frames, the judges would be needed to decide the victor, but Luna made it easy for them. With tallies of 60-52 (twice) and 59-53, the Dominican Brooklynite found himself with a unanimous decision win.

In the main event, Top Rank welterweight John Jackson found himself opposite gritty Puerto Rican Rafael Gonzalez, who was able to make good use of a two-inch height advantage over the heavy-fisted Jackson. The two fighters put on an entertaining scrap over eight frames, with Jackson looking to work behind the jab while Gonzalez tried a more straight-forward approach. The two styles created heightened action on the inside and certainly made it difficult for the ringside judges after each competitive round.

In the final stanza, Jackson switched to a southpaw stance to mix things up, trying to start confrontation with a lead right hand while Gonzalez attempted to work on the body. By the time the bell rang to conclude that final frame, both men anxiously awaited the final outcome. The first card read aloud was a 77-75 tally in favor of Gonzalez, but the bout was deemed a majority draw when the final two counts were even at 76-76.

Making his professional debut on the card tonight was former Cuban amateur standout Marcos Forestal (1-0, 1 KO), who was victorious in three World Series of Boxing matches before defecting from Cuba for the pro ranks of boxing. Now training alongside fellow countryman Guillermo Rigondeaux, much anticipation has surrounded his bout tonight against 54-fight veteran Ignac Kassai (14-39-2, 3 KOs) of Hungary. From the opening bell, Forestal seemed very comfortable and was a constant aggressor who possessed plenty of power in his dominant left hand.

That left hand remained on display in a much-shortened second round, as Forestal pawed with a jab before coming over the top with a ferocious left hook that crumbled Kassai. The Hungarian journeyman was briefly able to return to his feet, but the referee in charge saw that his eyes did not accompany his legs. Just 12 seconds into the second frame, Forestal had registered a knockout in his pro debut.

Following in the footsteps of his twin brother, Scott, who had fought on the last Uprising Promotions card in November, Dean Burrell (10-1, 7 KOs) shook off the rust of nearly a year layoff against Las Vegas junior welterweight Ryan Picou (2-6, 0 KOs). Burrell looked very good over the opening two rounds, working behind the jab while bouncing in and out of confrontation. A very game Picou began to pick it up over the middle frames and even gained a bit of momentum, making the home stretch of this six-rounder very competitive. Picou began trying to walk down Burrell in the final frame, landing his best punch midway through the stanza. However, a gritty Burrell stayed in the pocket and looked to express his boxing pedigree, which ultimately led to him getting the call on the scorecards.

With tallies of 58-56 from two of the ringside officials, an even tally of 57-57 was negated from the third judge to give Burrell a majority decision.

Also shaking off some rust on this card was slick southpaw Mikkel Lespierre (6-0-1, 3 KOs), who eneded a nine-month drought by mixing it up with tough St. Louis native Christopher Porter (0-2-1, 0 KOs). Lespierre worked behind the jab while using his elusiveness to slip under punches and roll out of the way of any offense from Porter. The Brooklyn native scored the lone knockdown of the bout midway through the second round, perfectly timing a slip hook on the break that caught his opposition off balance.

Lespierre seemed very comfortable after the knockdown, repeatedly going to the body and heeding the advice of trainer Don Saxby to have Porter on the edge of being ready to go. However, Lespierre did not take unnecessary risks by overpursuing the knockout, yet still earning the win all the same in the end. When the fourth bell rang to conclude this contest, Lespierre picked up his sixth professional victory with a pair of 40-35 cards matched with a 39-36 count, all in his favor.

As is normally the case with an Uprising Promotions show, the women also got the opportunity to showcase their talents. In junior flyweight action, popular New York native Susan Reno (1-3-2, 0 KOs) and Paola Ortiz (0-5-1, 0 KOs) met in a four-frame affair. The duo stepped inside a phone booth early and immediately chose to keep it there, engaging in a back-and-forth scrap that made determining the victor of each round a difficult decision. That was evidenced in the final outcome as well, with the judges declaring this one a majority draw. Ortiz earned one 39-37 card, but it was leveraged by a pair of 38-38 tallies.

In the opening bout of the night, the highly anticipated pro debut of former New York amateur standout Maxito Sainvil got the action started, facing off against Dustin Parrish (1-5, 1 KO) from Tallahassee. This fight looked to be over as quickly as it began, as Sainvil landed a flush two-punch combination immediately at the start that froze Parrish and sent him to the canvas. To his credit, Parrish was able to get his legs back under him and somehow battle his way to the first round bell. The second frame would need just over a minute to determine the victor, with Sainvil throwing a right hand to the body before coming underneath with a right uppercut that dropped Parrish face forward. As soon as Parrish was down, the referee called a halt to the match at the 1:02 mark of the second frame.

Scheduled to end a nearly five-year layoff in the original main event of the evening was ultra-popular New York junior lightweight Gary Stark Jr. (23-3, 8 KOs), but his return remained on hold after his opponent, Jesus Navarro (22-9-1, 16 KOs), failed his final medical examination earlier today.

Tonight’s card, entitled The Big Pay Back, continued the initiative of Uprising Promotions to KO Autism, and proceeds from the night will be donated to The School For Language and Communication Development (SLCD) in Glen Cove, New York.

STORM WARNING: Official Results From Bellator: Manhoef vs. Shlemenko

FRESNO, Calif (Feb. 13, 2015)- Former Bellator Middleweight Champion Alexander “The Storm” Shlemenko (52-9) made quick work of his opponent with a dominating second-round knockout over Dutch striking ace Melvin Manhoef (29-13-1) in front of a near-capacity crowd at Save Mart Center at tonight’s “Bellator: Manhoef vs. Shlemenko” event which aired LIVE and FREE on SPIKE TV.

With Bellator Light Heavyweight Champion, and often-successful spinning backfist utilizer Emanuel Newton in the crowd, Shlemenko borrowed a page from his playbook and attempted several spinning fist and kick attacks throughout the first frame.

When the second round started, Shlemenko stuck to that same game plan, and connected his spinning forearm flush with the jaw of Manhoef, sending him tumbling to the canvas. The hungry Russian native left nothing to chance and landed another strike before “Big” John McCarthy pushed him off declaring him the winner at 1:25 of round 2.

“I hope Bellator heard me and will let me correct the mistake I made in the past and will give me the opportunity to fight for the Bellator Middleweight World Championship against Brandon Halsey.”

Former Featherweight Champion Pat Curran’s road back to the top of the talented division hit a road block against Featherweight Tournament winner Daniel Weichel of Germany. The two fighters wasted no time teeing off with crisp punches and accurate kicks, keeping the fight standing for a majority of the first frame. Weichel swept the leg of the former champ, who quickly bounced back to his feet and got right back into the mix. Both fighters finished the final seconds of round one with a flurry of punches that drew loud applause from the Fresno crowd.

Curran began the second round with a visible cut over his left eye. After spending most of the round on their feet, Curran rushed Weichel and scored a takedown, where he imposed his will on Weichel for the final minute, likely winning him the round.

The third round featured a continuation of the exciting slugfest with Curran attempting to score another takedown in the third, but the German fighter stuffed the attempt, briefly tried to work on a choke and then disengaged to finish the fight on his feet. At the end of 15 minutes, Weichel emerged victorious by split decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29).

“Curran has achieved so much in Bellator and it was quite an honor to fight him. Tonight I proved that I belong here. I told the world that I am coming for the title shot and to claim the belt.”

Julia Budd (7-2) and Gabrielle Holloway (4-2) marked the first Bellator Women’s fight of the year. Budd, the Canadian Muay Thai specialist showed a well-rounded skill-set throughout the fight overpowering Holloway, who took the fight on short notice. Budd worked well from the clinch, utilized several knee strikes and connected with a straight right hand in the closing seconds of round one. Holloway showed great poise throughout, and worked Budd with a takedown to open the third round, however Budd was able to transition into an armbar attempt, and ultimately worked her way to Holloways’ back and grinded out a dominant unanimous decision scored 30-26, 30-25 and 30-24.

“I’m really disappointed I didn’t get the knockout,” said Budd. “I was hoping to get on my feet and keep it standing or finish it on the ground, but she controlled my wrists and I couldn’t get my hands free to finish it.

“She turtled the entire time so I couldn’t elbow and posture up and strike like I wanted to, but it’s definitely something I’m goinvg to work on for the next fight.”

In the nights opening fight, it was a battle of two highly accomplished wrestlers in Chris Honeycutt, a two-time D1 All-American and Clayton MacFarlane, a D2 National Champion. With the vocal hometown crown behind him, Honeycutt came out of the gates strong and utilized masterful ground control and precision striking throughout the first two rounds. The highly regarded welterweight prospect Honeycutt exhibited great strength at points, tossing MacFarlane to the ground. MacFarlane opened the third frame with a takedown, but Honeycutt regained control, took his opponents back and rained down strikes to MacFarlane’s body. MacFarlane, now 4-1, was unable to protect himself from the body blows, and referee Jason Herzog stopped the fight at 4:16 of the third round.

“I got the Victory, but would’ve liked to have received the TKO in an earlier round,” said Honeycutt, who improves his record to 6-0 with the TKO victory.

Abril illness forces him to withdraw from title defense against Matthews

WBA Lightweight champion Richar Abril has a viral infection and he will not be able to defend his WBA Lightweight title against Derry Matthews March 6 in Liverpool.

“It’s very unfortunate that this has happened and Derry will have to wait just a little longer to get his world title opportunity,” said promoter Frank Warren said. “We hope that Richar recovers from his viral infection quickly and is able to get back into training to defend his title against Derry as soon as possible, which we are all really looking forward to.”

“We definitely want to have Abril defend his title against Derry Mathews and it is our hope that we can reschedule the fight for early April or as close to that time frame as possible,” said Abril’s attorney Gregory Bloom said.

Even with Abril-Mathews off, Warren said the show will go on with the other world title bout scheduled serving as the headliner as South Africa’s Zolani Tete (19-3, 16 KOs) is due to defend his junior bantamweight belt against England’s Paul Butler (17-0, 8 KOs), a former bantamweight titlist dropping down in weight to challenge for another belt.

“Despite Richar’s withdrawal, it’s a fantastic show with Paul aiming to be the first British fighter in nearly a hundred years to win a second world title in a lighter weight division,” Warren said.

Four title fights in Turkey on Saturday (Feb. 14) WBC celebrates 52nd anniversary in Adana

On February 14th, 2015 the World Boxing Council (WBC) will celebrate its 52nd anniversary. Turkish Promoter Ahmet Öner has a special “birthday present” for the world’s biggest and most influential sanctioning body by hosting four WBC title fights on one night in Adana, Turkey.

“We put together a very special card to celebrate the WBC and we will also pay a tribute to Don Jose Sulaiman in Adana”, says Öner. “It has always been one of Don Jose’s big dreams to have more activity in the Middle East. The reigning WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman is following his father’s lead, and we are very proud to present a great night of WBC championships in Turkey.”

In the main event, unbeaten Bugra Öner (7-0) will take on Ramazi Gogichashvili from Georgia (16-4-2) in a WBC Youth World supermiddleweight championship. In the co-feature, Bugra’s older brother Altpug Öner (7-0) takes on Georgian Mindia Nozadze (16-6) for the WBC Eurasian Pacific supermiddleweight championship.

“The Öner brothers may not be as big as the Klitschko brothers but they are promising prospects and big stars already in their hometown Adana”, states the promoter. “By the way, even though we share the same last name we are no relatives.”

Ahmet Öner is also presenting his promising heavyweight hope Muhammed Al Zein who will fight for the WBC Mediterranean championship in his fourth pro-fight. “This kid is very special”, says Öner. “He has been a great amateur and we are proud an honored that he has been approved to fight for this important title even at a young age.”

The fourth championship bout features former MMA fighter Aziz Karaoglu who is fighting for the vacant WBC Mediterranean cruiserweight championship.

“It will be a fantastic night for the WBC and for Turkish boxing”, adds Öner. “And this is only a starting point to a great series of events.”

Only two weeks after the show in Adana, Ahmet Öner will present his next card in Turkey when heavyweight contenders Odlanier Solis and Tony Thompson square off for their highly anticipated rematch in Antalya on February 27th.

Former Colombian Olympian Cesar Villarraga on “Path to Glory” Undercard Friday, Feb. 20 Ontario, CA

ORANGE, Calif. (Feb. 13, 2015) – Former Colombian Olympian Cesar Villarraga (5-0, 3 KOs), winner of the 2010 South American Games, matches up against lightweight Eduardo Rivera (9-1-2, 3 KOs) of Mexico in a 6-round scrap on a loaded undercard on Thompson Boxing Promotions “Path to Glory.”

The event originates from the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, Calif. on Friday, Feb. 20.

Tickets for “Path to Glory” are priced at $40, $60, & $100 and can be purchased by calling (714) 935-0900, or online at www.ThompsonBoxing.com.

Villarraga starred for Colombia at the 2010 South American Games going through Hector Manzanilla (Venezuela) and Erick Banguera (Ecuador) to advance to the gold medal match against Everton Lopes of Brazil. Villarraga would bring home the gold in the 57kg event and would later qualify for the 2012 London Olympics. In London, Villarraga would lose to Cuba’s Roniel Iglesias. Rather than sulk in defeat, Villarraga turned the loss into a learning experience.

“The London games made me even more dedicated to the sport,” said, Villarraga, who started boxing at age 15, a late start partly attributed to his early love of soccer. “Mentally I now know how to handle situations more efficiently. I have learned to value every movement, any shuffle of the feet – every punch has its purpose.”

Since turning professional two years ago, Villarraga has displayed all the traits required to transition from prospect to contender. The southpaw is fast, aggressive, and wears down opponents with his boxing skills. Last year he polished off four impressive wins, two by way of knockout.

“Cesar has an exciting style to his game,” said Ken Thompson, president and founder of Thompson Boxing Promotions. “He is a quick hitter that does not like to stand around and dance. He has great speed and a high boxing IQ.”

“I look forward to stepping up in opposition this year,” Villarraga said. “Eduardo Rivera has the edge in experience and he is a boxer that likes to pressure you, but I know what I need to do to keep my winning streak going.”

Villarraga hopes to follow in the footsteps of fellow countryman and Thompson Boxing Promotions stablemate, Darleys Perez (32-1, 20 KOs), who is the current WBA interim lightweight world champion.

“Every boxer in Colombia follows the career of Darleys Perez,” said the 29-year-old Villarraga, who is co-promoted by Gary Shaw Productions and Thompson Boxing. “I have high aspirations. I want to be the first would champion from Bogota and the best to come from Colombia.”

Villarraga had an amateur record of 250 wins against 30 loses. He is married and has two boys.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m, and the first bell rings at 7:45 p.m. The Doubletree Hotel is located at 222 N Vineyard Ave, Ontario, CA 91764 and can be reached at (909) 937-0900.

Judgement Day: Abraham vs. Smith II – undercard announcement

On February 21, it’s ‘Judgement Day’ in the German capital! Arthur Abraham (41-4, 28 KOs) takes on Paul Smith (35-4, 20 KOs) in a WBO World Super Middleweight Championship rematch at the O2 World. Alongside the main event, fans can look forward to a stacked undercard showcasing the very best of European boxing.

As previously announced, Enrico Koelling (16-0, 6 KOs) will defend his WBA Light Heavyweight Intercontinental title against Mirco Ricci (13-2, 4 KOs), while British heavyweight star David Price (18-2, 15 KOs) meets Brazilian KO King Irineu Beato Costa Junior (16-2, 14 KOs). Four further fights have now been confirmed for the February 21 show.

Highly rated cruiserweight prospect Noel Gevor (15-0, 9 KOs) will face Emilio Valori (16-6, 12 KOs). Gevor is relishing a return to the ring following his fifth-round stoppage of Tamas Polster in Copenhagen, Denmark. ‘’I was pleased with my performance against Polster,’’ said the 24 year-old. ‘’It was a good experience to fight away from home, but I’m happy to be back fighting in Germany, especially at such an amazing arena!’’

London 2012 Olympian, Stefen Haertel (3-0) meets French super middleweight Baptiste Castegnaro (5-3, 2 KOs). An opponent, Haertel’s coach Karsten Roewer has warned him not to underestimate. ‘’Stefan should not be fooled by his opponents record,’’ said the renowned German coach. ‘’He will be coming to Berlin to cause an upset. Last year, he knocked out a previously unbeaten Italian in his hometown. He will try to do the same to Stefan.’’ Despite these words of warning, Haertel is looking forward to his hometown fight. ‘’All my family and friends from Berlin have bought tickets. I will not let them down,’’ said the 27 year-old.

Another Berlin native, Burak Sahin (5-0, 5 KOs) will look to extend his run of knockout victories when he takes on Ukrainian Maksym Pedyura (14-7, 12 KOs). ‘’This fight could be over quickly,’’ claimed the 23 year-old heavyweight. ‘Don’t blink or you might miss it!’’ Sahin will be making his second appearance at a Team Sauerland show, having impressed with a first-round technical knockout win over Zoltan Jerousek in May.

British-boxer Josh Warrington (19-0, 3 KOs) will have the chance to showcase his skills to the German public. The 24 year-old featherweight, who was until a year ago working as a dental technician, proved his pedigree in his last fight, claiming the European title with the fourth-round stoppage of Davide Dieli. The Leeds-man now appears to be on the fast track to a world title shot. On February 21, Warrington can continue his world title charge when he faces Edwin Tellez (9-11-5, 4 KOs).

Judgement Day: Abraham vs. Smith II is available to watch live on Sat.1 in Germany and Sky Sports in the UK. Tickets are available via tickethall.de.

Sauerland Event Statement on Robert Helenius

Team Sauerland is delighted to hear that Robert Helenius (19-0, 11 KOs) has voiced his desire to return to the ring. “Robert is one of the biggest heavyweight talents out there,” Sauerland Event CEO Chris Meyer said. “It´s a pity that he hasn´t fought in almost two years. We understand he has now announced that he wants to return on a show in Tallinn. Of course he can do whatever he wants, however, if he intends to fight again, he needs to talk to us first. We have an existing promotional agreement which we expect him to honour. We will take legal action against everybody who is undermining our contract with him. I think it would be to the benefit of everybody, especially the fight fans, if Robert focused on breaking jaws rather than laws.”

COMPLETE CARD ANNOUNCED FOR UPCOMING BROADWAY BOXING WESTCHESTER COUNTY DEBUT

New York, NY (2/13/15) – For the first time in its 12-year existence, Broadway Boxing heads north to the suburbs of Westchester County, NY, when DiBella Entertainment (DBE) stages an exciting card from top to bottom at the beautiful Hilton Westchester in Rye Brook, NY next Friday night. The card is headlined by the homecoming of undefeated prospect Bryant “Peewee” Cruz (13-0, 7KO’s) taking on tough-as-nails Jorge Pazos (14-7-1, 8KO’s) in an eight-round junior lightweight matchup. Hailing from nearby Port Chester, NY, just minutes away from the Hilton Westchester, Cruz has quickly become one of the most popular local fighters in all of New York and his legion of fans are expected to come out in droves. This will be the first time as a professional that the hometown favorite will be fighting in Westchester County.

In the co-feature, red-hot junior middleweight prospect Frank “Notorious” Galarza (15-0-2, 9KO’s) squares off against veteran Raul Munoz (23-17-1, 16KO’s) in another eight-round scheduled matchup. Galarza had a breakout year in 2014, and is widely considered to be one of the top 154lb. up-and-coming fighters in all of boxing. Galarza is looking to make the transition from prospect to legitimate world-title contender in 2015, but he must first get by the dangerous Berrio.

Making his DBE debut on the card will be once-beaten light heavyweight contender Cedric Agnew (27-1, 14KO’s) as he squares off against Samuel Clarkson (12-3, 7KO’s) in an eight-round matchup. Agnew challenged light heavyweight kingpin Sergey Kovalev for his WBO title in March of last year and put up a spirited effort, before being halted in the seventh round. Agnew bounced back with a second-round stoppage win over Shannon Miller in June and now, with the backing of promoter Lou DiBella, is looking to make another run at a world title opportunity.

Also seeing action on the card in a scheduled eight-rounder will be exciting junior featherweight contender Danny Aquino (16-2, 10KO’s), from nearby Meriden, CT, as he takes on Pablo Batres. The 24-year-old Aquino owns three victories over previously undefeated opponents, and both of his losses came via very tight decisions. Aquino is a hard-charging pressure fighter who throws bombs from all angles. He will be determined to prove that he is a force to be reckoned with in the 122lb. division.

Belarusian-native junior welterweight Ivan Baranchyk (3-0, 2 KOs), co-promoted by Fight Promotions Inc., will be back in the ring three weeks after an impressive first-round knockout victory on January 29. As an amateur, Baranchyk won gold at the 2010 Class A Vilnuse tournament, 2011 and 2013 Match Event tournament, 2011 Kostukovichi International tournament, 2011 and 2012 Soligorsk Open International tournament, 2012 Class A Liventsev tournament, 2013 Active Military tournament, 2013 Republic of Belarus Open Cup, 2014 Vitebsk University tournament in Belarus, and was an amateur champion of Belarus from 2009-2014. Baranchyk is set to take on his toughest opponent to date when he squares off against fellow undefeated prospect David Thomas (4-0) in an intriguing four-round welterweight match-up.

Returning to action for the second time in less than a month will be Bronx’s former #1-rated U.S. amateur and now undefeated prospect Chris Galeano (6-0) as he squares off against Javier Loya (7-2, 6KO’s) in a six-round junior middleweight showdown.

Also making his DBE debut on the card will be undefeated Andrew Ruiz (7-0, 4KO’s), one of the most promising young fighters out of the Robert Garcia Boxing Academy, as he takes on Evincii Dixon (4-4-1, 2KO’s) in a six-round welterweight matchup. The 21-year-old Ruiz didn’t fight at all in 2014, as he sorted through some issues outside of the ring. Now fighting under the DBE banner, Ruiz is looking to get back to his winning ways and once again begin climbing the ranks of the 147lb. division.

Making his much-anticipated pro debut on the card will be Westchester-native Alex Vanasse as he is set to take on Richard Ballard (0-1) in a four-round cruiserweight matchup. Vanasse lives in Carmel, NY, but trains in New Rochelle, NY, and a big crowd is expected to turn out for the hometown fighter.

Rounding out the card will be the Bronx, NY’s Golden Gloves champion Peter Dobson (2-0, 1KO’s) as he takes on Tyrell White (0-2) in a four-round welterweight matchup.

Tickets are priced at $100, $60 and $40, and are currently on sale through the DiBella Entertainment office by calling (212) 947-2577. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the first bout scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

The Hilton Westchester is located at 699 Westchester Avenue, Rye Brook, NY 10573.
