MILWAUKEE – March 15, 2023 – Combat sport legends Roy Jones Jr. and Anthony Pettis previewed their upcoming pro boxing clash during a virtual press conference Wednesday before they go toe-to-toe on Saturday, April 1 headlining the “Gamebred Boxing 4” pay-per-view event from Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee in an event presented by Jorge Masvidal’s Gamebred Boxing.

In the main event, the Boxing Hall of Famer Jones and the former UFC and WEC World Champion Pettis will go toe-to-toe in an intriguing clash of two of combat sports’ most skilled, accomplished and popular champions, as Milwaukee’s Pettis looks to put on a memorable performance for his hometown fans.

“I wanted to fight Anderson Silva back in the day, but it kept getting pushed to the side. When they told me about the Pettis fight, it was intriguing. He’s done things in MMA that no one has ever done. To face someone else with the same kind of creative mind, I couldn’t say no to it.

“He’s different and he’s very creative with his style. He knows what he’s doing. He’s sparring with guys like former world champion Caleb Plant. That’s the right kind of sparring. He’s not playing boxing, he’s serious about it.

“I feel like I was the first person to come up with the crossover boxing vs. MMA fight idea, but I never got to do it. This was the perfect opportunity. I know that he’s gonna go hard with his boxing, because he’s facing one of the greats. If I were playing Michael Jordan one-on-one, I’d put everything into it.  

“My game is to help put on an awesome card for the people. My goal in boxing has always been to give the people what they want to see.

“I love the fact that I get to fight in a place I’ve never been. They have the Greek Freak [Giannis Antetokounmpo] there, and we’re both freaks in the ring, so why not make it happen? When you get the opportunity, you gotta shoot, and that’s what we do.

“I’m older, but I’m still wise. What better way for him to learn boxing than against someone who knows basically everything about the sport?”

“It’s crazy to be in this position and be fighting Roy Jones Jr. in my first boxing fight. This is a challenge I’ve been waiting for. You can’t say no to an opportunity like this. This is the kind of challenge that wakes me up every morning and makes me want to bring it.

“I’m just straight boxing now. I’m finding the best boxers I can spar with here in Las Vegas. I’m living the lifestyle. How could you not be motivated when facing a guy like Roy? I come to win fights and that’s the goal April 1.

“I’ve done so much in MMA, but I grew up watching fights like Oscar De La Hoya vs. Felix Trinidad. Watching that is why I got into combat sports. Now that I have this opportunity, I’m hiring the right guys and doing everything I need to do to take this 100% seriously.

“I’ve been working a lot to adjust to fighting at a bigger weight. I was already in fight shape coming into camp, because this is just such a great opportunity. I feel like I’m getting used to the pressure that he’s gonna bring. I’m gonna use the smarts and skills I’ve accumulated over the years and try to put it on him.

“If you look at my UFC career, I fought the best of the best. That’s exactly what I’m bringing to my boxing career. These are the kind of challenges I want.

Dennis Hogan will defend his IBO Super-Welterweight World Title against James Metcalf on the undercard of Katie Taylor’s huge homecoming undisputed clash with Chantelle Cameron at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland on Saturday May 20, live worldwide on DAZN.
 
The Irishman, who is based in Newstead, Australia, returns home to fight in Ireland for the first time in his professional career and heads into his maiden defence of the IBO 154lbs Title on a three-fight winning streak, most recently outpointing Sam Eggington over 12 rounds at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre last October.
 
‘Hurricane’ (31-4-1, 7 KOs), who was born in Kildare, Ireland, controversially lost out on points to Mexico’s Jaime Munguia in a challenge for the WBO Super-Welterweight World Title in April 2019. He jumped up to Middleweight to take on WBC World Champion Jermall Charlo in his next fight but was stopped in seven rounds by the undefeated Texas fighter.
 
Liverpool’s Metcalf (24-2, 15 KOs) halted Brooklyn’s Carl Pennington in six rounds at the First Direct Arena in Leeds last time out in December in what was the first defence of his WBA Continental Super-Welterweight Title. That win followed on from his impressive career-best showing against Kerman Lejarraga at the Bilbao Arena in Spain last summer.
 
The former Commonwealth and WBC International Super-Welterweight Champion, son of Liverpool fight legend Shea ‘Shamrock Express’ Neary, rejuvenated his career by outpointing hometown hero Lejarraga, a two-weight European Champion, in an excellent display of patience and boxing IQ.
 
Metcalf’s only defeats in the professional ranks have come at the hands of Bermondsey’s Ted Cheeseman in a jaw dropping battle for the vacant British Title in Gibraltar in March 2021 and Northampton’s Kieron Conway at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool in October 2021.

London, UK – (March 15, 2023) – The incredible Great British world title prospect Joshua Buatsi (16-0, 13 KOs) has a new home: BOXXER.

The undefeated light-heavyweight contender was today unveiled as the latest star-name addition to the BOXXER and Sky Sports stable at a press conference in his hometown of Croydon, London. 

The former British light-heavyweight champion, who celebrated his 30th birthday yesterday, has signed an exclusive multi-fight, multi-year agreement with BOXXER which will see his forthcoming world title quest air live and exclusively in the UK on the nation’s biggest sports broadcast platform. 

His first fight under the BOXXER banner will be live and exclusive on Sky Sports, in the UK & Republic of Ireland, on May 6 at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham.

Trained by Shane McGuigan, rising superstar Dubois (6-0, 5 KOs) blasted her way through Feriche Mashaury at the OVO Wembley Arena in February to make another emphatic stride in her burgeoning career.

Mashaury has fought the likes of Chantelle Cameron and Terri Harper and took recently crowned British Boxer of the Year Natasha Jonas the distance in 2019.

But former Team GB hero Dubois, 22, made light work of her Tanzania rival and dispatched her inside two destructive rounds. An opponent for April 22 will be named in due course.

The ‘Next King of Scotland’ Martin Bakole (18-1-0, 13 KOs) will make his highly-anticipated BOXXER debut when he takes on unbeaten Ukrainian, Ihor Shevadzutskyi (10-0, 8 KOs) in a battle of the behemoths. 

Bakole signed a long-term deal with BOXXER back in February. And the Ayrshire-based heavyweight, who is ranked highly by the WBA, will be out to make a major statement when he collides with a man nicknamed ‘the Hulk’, who has wins over Kevin Johnson and Kamil Sokolowski on his CV.

Standing at a menacing 6ft 6in, Bakole hails from the Democratic Republic of Congo, where he was born a prince to the son of the ruler of the Kananga province. His brother is former WBC World Cruiserweight king, Ilunga Makabu.

His record is as impressive as his stature, having won 18 professional fights including his last in May 2022 when he celebrated a majority decision victory over Tony Yoka in the Rio 2016 Olympic champion’s homeland in Paris, France.

Bakole’s only defeat was in 2018 to American heavyweight Michael Hunter. But he has responded with seven successive wins since – five of which were knockouts, including triumphs against Kevin Johnson and Mariusz Wach.

Another impressive heavyweight on the fight card in Rzeszów is Jeamie TKV (4-0, 2 KOs).

The undefeated Londoner has made a great impression with BOXXER, enjoying four wins – including his breathtaking points victory over Harry Armstrong last month.

The 29-year-old has been training in Texas and can now look forward to his first fight outside of his capital city when he travels to Poland next month.

PHILADELPHIA (March 14, 2023)–Undefeated junior lightweight prospect Julian “Gifted” Gonzalez will take part in the featured bout as he takes on gritty Clay Burns on Friday, April 7th at The 2300 Arena in Philadelphia.

The card is promoted by King’s Promotions.

Gonzalez of Reading, PA has a record of 9-0-1 with all of his victories coming by way of stoppage. The 21 year-old impressed a national television audience with a fourth-round stoppage over previously undefeated Rosalindo Morales (9-0) as part of a SHOBOX: The New Generation card on January 20th in Bethlehem, PA.

Burns of Fort Worth, Texas is 10-17-2 with four knockouts. The tough Burns has only been stopped once, and has wins over Yovani Rodarte (10-1-1) and Dartell Smith (4-1) . Burns is coming off a decision loss to Terrell Bostic on February 23rd in New York City. Gonzalez will be the 13th undefeated opponent for Burns.

Saúl Canelo Álvarez will defend his Undisputed Super-Middleweight title against John Ryder at the Akron Stadium in Guadalajara, Mexico on Saturday May 6, live around the world on DAZN and DAZN PPV in the U.S & Canada – the first time in over a eleven and a half years that Canelo has fought in Mexico.

Canelo (58-2-2 39 KOs) defends his Undisputed crown for the second time after beating bitter rival Gennadiy Golovkin in their trilogy battle in Las Vegas in September, having ripped the IBF crown from Caleb Plant in Sin City in November 2021 with an 11^th round stoppage.

Cinco de Mayo weekend will see him fight for the 35^th time in his homeland and it promises to be a spectacular occasion with the state of Jalisco marking 200 years of independence.

WBO mandatory challenger Ryder (32-5 18 KOs) will be looking to spoil the party, as the popular Londoner travels to Mexico for the biggest fight of his 12-year career. ‘The Gorilla’ landed the WBO interim title in his last fight when Zach Parker retired on his stool after four rounds of their clash in London, England in November. 

That win for the 34 year old followed a career-best victory earlier in 2022 over former Middleweight ruler and old Canelo foe Daniel Jacobs, with Ryder having also tackled three other Britons who have taken on the Mexican king, challenging Callum Smith for the Super-Middleweight World crown after fights with Billy Joe Saunders and Rocky Fielding.

FRESNO, Calif. (March 14, 2023) — U.S. Olympic silver medalist Richard Torrez
Jr. has been forced to withdraw from his March 25 homecoming fight due to a training injury. Torrez (5-0, 5 KOs), from Tulare, California, was scheduled to face Willie Jake Jr. in the six-round ESPN-televised opener at Save Mart Center in Fresno, California. The 23-year-old southpaw knockout artist, who has three first-round knockouts on his ledger, is expected to return this summer.

The Williams-Hogan showdown pits one of CES’ longest-tenured fighters against one of its most recent acquisitions and highly-touted prospects.

A former college football player born in Plainfield, NJ, and raised in New Haven, CT, Williams (18-10-2, 6 KOs) joined the CES family in 2013 when he made his professional debut at the age of 26.

He first began boxing at 8 years old, but pursued football most of his life. Injuries derailed his football career following several tryouts with NFL team, so he returned to boxing in his mid-20s. More than a decade later, the now 36-year-old Williams continues to answer the bell against elite competition. Since scoring an upset win over former world champion Yuri Foreman in 2021, Williams has faced highly-skilled Greg Vendetti, Tyrone James, Vito Mielnicki Jr., Luis Arias, and now the undefeated southpaw Hogan, who boasts an impressive 13-0 record with 12 KOs entering March 16.

The 22-year-old Weymouth, MA, native Hogan signed a promotional agreement with CES in the summer of 2022, bringing his impressive power and elite skillset to the region’s most sought-after promotion.

Ramirez captured the NABA crown last May 14^th in Ontario, California, registering a Knockout of the Year-caliber performance against Jan Salvatierra (8-1), who lasted only 2:25 in the opening round, blasted through the ropes and out of the ring.

In his most recent action this past February 23^rd, “Scrappy” successfully defended his NABA belt for the first time, taking a 10-round unanimous decision (100-90, 99-91, 99-91) over Luis Villa Padilla (16-3-2) in the main event at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California. Even though he won 9 rounds on two of the judges’ scorecards, all 10 on the other, “Scrappy” received some criticism that the 26-year-old Ramirez has dealt with like a seasoned veteran.

“That was a mostly Mexican crowd that wasn’t rocking with me,” Ramirez explained. “The guy I fought was Mexican and I’m out-spoken, flashy, and confident. I know the culture and they thought I was too cocky. And they thought I was an African American. I fought a tough opponent and I tried to get him out early. In the fifth round, I told myself to enjoy the process, don’t rush, and have fun. I displayed my skills for 10 rounds and got the W.

“If I don’t knockout an opponent, they complain; if I out-box my opponent, it’s too boring for them; if I get hit too much, they think I need to work on my defense. I could have made it a boring fight if I had just jabbed, but that would have made the fight boring. I broke him down. I see how people view me. They have big expectations, but I created those. I didn’t knock out my last opponent, but I was the superior fighter, playing on a different level. I’m a promotional free agent (managed by 3 Prime Management) who is a championship fighter in my first main event.”

“Scrappy” isn’t waiting for Thaiyen or even Franco, to the contrary. The entertaining fighter was to remain active, hopefully fighting three more times in 2023, whether or not that includes a WBA Eliminator or World title shot.

“If those fights are meant to happen,” Ramirez added, “it will and, if not, I’ll keep fighting to get better. Anything is possible in this business. Everything has happened quicker than expected for me. I’m on the fast track and I’ll go with the flow. I’m ready for anything.

Worcester, MA, lightweight Jamaine Ortiz (@JaimaineOrtizR) has built his career – which now has him ranked seventh in the world among 135-pounders by the WBC – on substance over style, strategy in lieu of extravagance.

Often referred to as one of the more soft-spoken fighters in today’s game, Ortiz (16-1-1) has patiently waited for the much-anticipated payoff all prizefighters dream of while tactically and efficiently picking apart nearly every challenger who’s crossed his path since launching his professional career in 2017.

But at 26 and on the cusp of entering his prime, “The Technician” can’t – and won’t – wait much longer. Five months ago, Ortiz starred on one of the sport’s biggest stages: New York City, Madison Square Garden, headlining a worldwide televised event against one of boxing’s all-time greats, Vasyl Lomachenko. Ortiz lost a close decision, but the moments of brilliance sprinkled across 12, hard-fought rounds vaulted the Worcester native from commonly-searched social media keyword to legitimate lightweight contender.

As such, Ortiz is now anxiously – and, quite frankly, impatiently – waiting for the next big opportunity. With the scheduled April 22 lightweight super fight between undefeated titans Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis hogging most of the headlines in the 135-pound division, Ortiz has deviated from the usual path of biding his time and is instead aggressively pursuing his rightful place among boxing’s elite lightweights. This past weekend, Ortiz tweeted his frustrations at those who continue to cherry-pick opponents while ducking real fights along with the powers that be who are willfully protecting their high-priced investments from the wrath of “The Technician.”

“To me, it’s very upsetting,” Ortiz said. “I came off a great performance against Lomachenko. Most of the world thought I won. The rankings have me amongst the top 10 in the world. But there’s no fight for me? No good opponent for me? It’s kind of wild.
“There are so many great fights that can be made right now. Me versus George Kambosos. Me versus Isaac Cruz. Joseph Diaz. Javier Fortuna. There are so many guys with big names who are willing to fight. Why can’t we put these fights together?”

And if the buzz from the Lomachenko fight happens to be wearing off five months later, Ortiz added, “then it’s my job is to put myself back in [the conversation].
“One of the things I’ve learned over the years is to keep myself relevant. That’s why I tweeted what I did. I let my feelings out. I understand the business. I have to start poking these guys. The fans and boxing journalists are who make things happen. If the fans are demanding a certain fight and the promoter knows it’s guaranteed to make money, then the promoter will make it happen. If the writers talk about it enough, it begins to make sense. Fighters need to be vocal. Someone has to talk about it.”

Ortiz’s promoter, CES Boxing president Jimmy Burchfield Sr., is eager to join the conversation. Said Burchfield: “From Day 1, Jamaine Ortiz has answered the bell and willingly stepped inside the ring no matter the challenge. He doesn’t duck opportunities. He isn’t afraid to take on anyone. All he’s asking for is the opportunity to showcase his ability against the best in the world and be given the same opportunity as his peers. Jamaine is no longer boxing’s best-kept secret. After what he did against Lomachenko, the secret’s out, and it’s time he gets the opportunities he deserves.”

Social media can be influential in determining which fighters get pushed to the top of the conversation, and Ortiz is cognizant of what is being said and who is doing the talking, even if he isn’t as active online as other fighters. “The Technician” noted a recent interview with former two-time super featherweight Shakur Stevenson, whose wish list for 2023 included a potential showdown with Ortiz, whom he described as a “tough fight for whoever.” And after visiting the Top Rank Boxing Gym in Las Vegas, Ortiz is even more convinced his performance against Lomachenko has forced other 135-pounders to shy away from a potential matchup.

“Shakur Stevenson, he puts respect on my name,” Ortiz said. “They know me. They know the type of fighter I am. No one is calling me an easy opponent or a pushover. If I’m an easier fight, then why aren’t they calling me name? I want to know who in the world has ever called me out to fight. Nahir Albright might be the only one who’s ever said something. We originally had that fight on Triller [on November 28, 2020], then he pulled out, but we got it back [on Showtime in 2022] and I beat him up.

“When have I ever said no to fight? At the same time, who’s calling me out? With me being at this level now, who dares call my name?”

Of late, Ortiz has fought the best of the best; his last five opponents boast a combined record of 80-8-2, including the dynamic Lomachenko, whom many felt Ortiz was on the verge of beating until the final three rounds. Ortiz still thinks he did enough from rounds 1 through 8 to earn the decision, but admits he lost the last three as Lomachenko found his second wind. Even in a losing effort, Ortiz’s stock rose that night, and “The Technician” is certain other prospects are going to be more selective in 2023 knowing his ability to push opponents to the limit. While being feared is certainly a compliment, it can also be detrimental to a young fighter’s progress.

“Why would promoters take a guy who they’ve invested time and money in and put him in there against something they know will beat him?” Ortiz said. “They won’t give me the opportunity to look good against a good opponent and build me up. Why not get me a world title?

“I’m not in a position to be used as an opponent. Every single time I’ve fought, from a performance level and an entertainment level, people always talk about me. Whether it’s Triller, Showtime, ESPN, I’m always going to be a trending topic. I don’t see why they wouldn’t want to continue to bring me up and have me fight when they know I put on a show. I’m not a boring fighter.”

Having expressed his thoughts publicly on one of the world’s largest platforms, Ortiz once again plays the waiting game as he seeks a career-changing opportunity in 2023. The difference now is Ortiz is more than willing to stir the pot if others aren’t willing to put their records – and reputations – on the line.

“I’ve waited a long time. I’m going on seven years as a pro. I’ve been very patient and I’ve been taking everything that comes my way,” Ortiz said. “I’ve been quiet a long time. Now I want to take a little bit more control of my career. Am I wrong for that? Am I wrong for trying to make fights happen or asking for the best?

“I won’t talk trash to a fighter for no reason. But how am I going to sell a fight? In this business, social media, twitter is the place to be. Journalists and boxing writers take what you post on social media and blow it up and circulate it through other media outlets. I have to put my voice out there. If no one wants to fight, then I have to poke at people. I don’t want to just wait, wait, wait and then regret it later.”

(March 13, 2023) — Former light heavyweight world champion Jean Pascal returns to the ring in a 12-round IBF light heavyweight world title eliminator against German contender Michael Eifert this Thursday, March 16, at Place Bell in Laval, Canada.

Pascal-Eifert and undercard bouts will stream live and exclusively in the U.S. on ESPN+ starting at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT. This event is promoted by DiBella Entertainment, in association with Groupe Yvon Michel and Jean Pascal Promotions, and in collaboration with Blanko Sports and SES Sports Events GmbH. 
 
Pascal (36-6-1, 20 KOs) captured his first world title in 2009 when he defeated Adrian Diaconu for the WBC championship. He made three defenses, including a stoppage win over Chad Dawson in 2010. Pascal lost the title to Bernard Hopkins the following year, but he remained a force in the division with wins against Lucian Bute, Yunieski Gonzalez, Marcus Browne and Badou Jack, in addition to tough battles with Sergey Kovalev, Eleider Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol. The 40-year-old is coming off a decision win over then-undefeated Fanlong Meng. Eifert (11-1, 4 KOs) debuted in 2018 and suffered one setback via majority decision against Tom Dzemski in 2020. Unbeaten Polish cruiserweight Adrian “Pretty Boy” Pinheiro (10-0-1, 9 KOs), fighting out of Orlando, will headline in the 8-round main event against Demetrius Banks (5 KOs), of Detroit. The 25-year-old Pinheiro is coming off his lone non-victory as a professional this past February 25, fighting Isaiah Thompson to a 6-round split draw. Bank is best known for ruining the professional debut of Antwaun Tubbs, the son of former world heavyweight champion Tony Tubbs, by way of a 4-round technical knockout in 2014.

“Adrian is seeking redemption after he fought to a draw in his last fight (Feb. 25^th vs. Isaiah Thompson),” added Blanco, who trains Pinhiero. “He’s stepping up to fight his first scheduled 8-round bout and his first main event. He’s coming off a draw but he’s looking at it as a loss. He wants to put that fight behind and move forward. Not only did he want to go 8 rounds, but he also wanted to fight a tough, durable opponent. Most fighters coming off a draw, they’d want a tune-up fight to build back their confidence, but Adrian is ready for what’s coming next for him in his career.”

In the 6-round co-featured event, undefeated 22-year-old Jeovanny Estela, 10-0, 3 KOs) will put his perfect pro record on the line against Saul “Navajo” Corral (23-20, 13 KOs), of Mexico. Corrall, who is a former WBC FECARBOX welterweight champion, clearly represents the toughest test of Estela’s young pro boxing career. Battle-tested Corrall has been in the ring with world champions such as Sadam Ali and Victor Ortiz, as well as several contenders, and hot prospects like Estella.

Cuban Idalberto Umara (9-1, 6 KOs), fighting out of Miami, will make his first title defense of the WBA Fedecaribe Lightweight crown in a 10-round title fight versus a challenger to be announced. Umara captured his Fedecarbie championship belt in his last fight by way of a second-round technical knockout of Deivi Julio this past February 25^th at Caribe Royale in Orlando.

Two other Cuban boxers are scheduled to be in action. Miami-based welterweight Damian Lascaille (3-0, 2 KOs) vs. TBA in a 4-rounder, while Las Vegas heavyweight Henrich Ruiz Cordoba (1-0, 1 KO) is matched in a 6-round bout against veteran Mexican fighter Jose “Olympico” Humberto Corrall (20-32, 12 KOs).

NEW YORK (March 11, 2023)–Four Split-T Management fighters picked up victories over the weekend.

Friday night in Bethlehem, PA, heavyweight Devon Young remained undefeated with a vicious second round stoppage over Lemir Riley in a four-round bout.

In round two, with Riley leaning in, Young unleashed a perfect uppercut on the jaw that sent Riley face-first and momentarily out cold at 2:50.

Young of AIken, South Carolina is 4-0 with three knockouts. Riley of New Cumberland, PA is 2-1.

Young is promoted by King’s Promotions.

In Wolverhampton, England, Former two-time world title challenger Kandi Wyatt captured the WBA Intercontinental Welterweight title with a 10-round split decision over Kirstie Bavington.

Wyatt of Calgary, Alberta, Canada won by tallies of 98-92 twice and one card had it for Bavington 96-94.

Wyatt is now 11-4. Bavington of England is 7-3-2.

On the same card, junior middleweight Logan Hollier dropped a decision to former world champion Hannah Rankin. Hollier, who is promoted by DiBella Entertainment, is now 9-3-1.

Saturday in Philadelphia, 2021 United States Olympian Oshae Jones remained undefeated with a six-round unanimous decision over former world champion Dahianna Santana in a welterweight bout at the 2300 Arena.

Jones of Toledo, Ohio won by scores of 60-54 twice and 59-55 and is now 2-0. Santana of New York is 40-15.

On the same card, super flyweight LeAnna Cruz won a six-round unanimous decision over Devany Cuevas Torres.

Cruz of Allentown, PA won by scores of 60-54 twice and 59-55 to raise her mark to 4-0. Torres of San Antonio is 2-3-1.

The SHOBOX^® tripleheader pits six fighters with a combined record of 95-2-1 and 62 knockouts.

In the co-main event, Neri Romero (16-0, KOs) of Argentina takes on Frency Fortunato (15-1, 11 KOs) of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, in a 10-round super featherweight bout. The telecast opener pits Raul Garcia (12-0, 10 KOs) of the Dominican Republic against Robert Terry (9-0, 3 KOs) of Jersey City, N.J., with both fighters putting their unbeaten streaks to the test in an eight-round super welterweight bout. They all hope to one day follow in the footsteps of Foster, who out-dueled Rey Vargas on February 11 on SHOWTIME to capture the WBC Super Featherweight World Championship after he fought four times on SHOBOX.

Bunch vs. Flores – 10-Round Super Lightweight Main Event

Managed by International Boxing Hall of Famer, J. Russel Peltz, the 23-year-old Bunch suffered a controversial split draw in his SHOBOX debut against the tough and undefeated Janelson Figueroa Bocachica. Following the draw, he reeled off five consecutive wins, including his last fight in December, a unanimous decision against Henry Lundy. Since turning pro in 2019, Bunch fought five times in 2020 and eight times in 2021 before slowing down a bit with three bouts in 2022. Bunch’s only pro loss came in 2019 in just his third fight, a unanimous decision loss to SHOBOX alum and amateur standout Paul Kroll. Bunch started his boxing path at age 7 and had more than 400 amateur fights, earning a No. 3 national ranking from the 2016 Nationals and a spot on the USA Boxing national team. A native of Queens, N.Y., Bunch currently lives and trains in Trenton, N.J.

“It’s a blessing to be back on SHOBOX,” said Bunch, who was on the same USA National team as Errol Spence Jr., and Shakur Stevenson. “Not only on SHOBOX, but as a main event. I’ve always dreamed of this. I have a great opponent who is very tough, and I know he’s coming to fight. He’s 23-0 looking to make a statement, so this is definitely going to be a war. This fight should come down to who wants it more.”

Flores was a Mexican national champion as an amateur in 2010 and 2011 and a bronze medalist in 2012. He fought 90 times in the amateur ranks suffering just eight defeats. Flores has fought almost entirely in Mexico, except for one bout in Carson in December of 2021 when he knocked out Tyrone Luckey in the first round.

“I think my opportunity has arrived, I am very motivated,” Flores said. “I am happy for the opportunity and I want to give everything in each training session. I feel that I have nothing to lose and everything to gain.”

Romero vs. Fortunato – 10-Round Super Featherweight Bout

Romero amassed a 49-7 amateur record with 12 KOs. He was a 2014 gold medalist of the Star Tournament (Torneo de las estrellas) and 2015 champion at the Challenge Tournament of Argentina, Uruguay and Chile. Romero fought twice in 2022, his last win coming by way of eighth-round TKO in August against Jorge Sanchez.

“I’m glad to come back to the U.S. for such a great opportunity,” Romero said. “This is the most important fight of my career as a great win will put me in a great position to finally have shot at the world title. I’ll do anything to get away with an impressive victory. That’s exactly what I’m training for.”

Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Fortunato has fought just twice in the U.S, and last September he showed his boxing skills and power holding off a late rally from the aggressive Bernard Torresto capture a split decision on SHOBOX in Atlantic City, N.J. Previously, he stopped Julio Buitrago in two rounds in Daytona Beach in August 2020 and prior to that win, he had beaten two consecutive undefeated opponents in then 14-0 Marcos Muniz and then 6-0 Misael Vasquez. Fortunato’s lone blemish came at the hands of Argentine Alberto Ezequiel Melian in a 10-round unanimous decision loss in Argentina in which Fortunato sent Melian to the canvas four times.

“I’m so happy to come back to SHOBOX and I want to thank my manager Gardner Payne, who is helping me to reach my goal to become world champion,” Fortunato said. “I know my opponent is experienced and has fought internationally, but he’s never faced a boxer like me and when we finally meet he will see that I am one of the top featherweight boxing prospects in the world.”

Garcia vs. Terry – Eight-Round Super Welterweight Bout

An excellent puncher with fast hands, 24-year-old Garcia of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, had over 150 amateur fights before turning professional in May 2021 and quickly rattled off a dozen impressive victories over domestic competition, including taking the undefeated “0” of countryman Francisco Ernesto Sanchez. He was last seen in December 2022, stopping then 22-3 veteran Angel Yomar Mateo in six rounds. Garcia says he began to dream of becoming a world champion after meeting the great Oscar De La Hoya as a young amateur.

“This will be my first trip to the U.S. to fight, and I want to show that I deserve this big opportunity,” Garcia said. “I know that many fighters who start on SHOBOX reach my dream of becoming a world champion. I hope to reach the heights of my idol, Oscar De La Hoya someday.”

Terry began boxing at age 14 and won five New Jersey Golden Glove titles, including four at 152 pounds. He was a 2017 National Golden Gloves finalist at 165 pounds. Born and raised in Jersey City, N.J., Terry had approximately 65 amateur fights and fought in Ireland in 2010 as an amateur.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to fight on SHOBOX,” Terry said. “I see this as a chance to showcase my talent in front of a national audience and I’m hopeful that this win could lead to bigger opportunities for me. I have a great team that I trust and I can’t wait to execute the game plan on April 7.”

LAS VEGAS (March 13, 2023) –- Former World Super Middleweight Champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (44-1, 30 KOs) returns to the ring this Saturday for the first time during his 13 ½-year pro career after suffering a loss against two-time world title challenger Gabriel “King” Rosado (26-16-1, 15 KOs), in the 12-round main event on a stacked card promoted by Golden Boy Promotions in association with Zurdo Promotions, streaming live on DAZN (8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT) from The Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California.

The 31-year-old Ramirez, fighting out of Mazatlan, Mexico, didn’t have his hand raised in victory for the first time as a pro this past November in Abu Dhabi, when World Boxing Association (WBA) Super World Light Heavyweight Champion Dmitriy Bivol (21-0) successfully defended his crown by way of a 12-round unanimous decision.

“It just wasn’t my night and meant for my opponent,” Ramirez explained about his fight with Bivol. “Looking back, I could have been a little more active, but it is what it is. I definitely would like a rematch in the future.”

First, though, “Zurdo” needs to get back on the winning track versus Rosado, Philadelphia-born of Puerto Rican heritage, who is best known for his stubborn toughness. Rosado, who holds wins over former world champions Joshua Clottey and Kassim Ouma, will be moving up to the light heavyweight division for the first time against Ramirez.  

“He (Rosado) is a tough opponent who is always ready to fight,” Ramirez said. “He has been in the ring with the best and can be dangerous at any time of the fight. And to have it be a Mexico versus Puerto Rico match-up is just a cherry on top to make this an exciting fight for fans.”

His loss to Bivol has left “Zurdo” even more motivated.

“It’s a different feeling’” Ramirez noted, “but preparation does not change. I’m more motivated than ever to get back on track and show why I’m still one of the best in the game.”

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – March 13, 2023 –Julian Rodriguez came back from a 21 month layoff to win an eight-round unanimous decision over streaking Kashon Hutchinson in the main welterweight main event at The Wind Creek Event Center in Bethlehem, PA.

The seven-bout card was promoted by King’s Promotions.

Rodriguez came out fast as he landed some booming power punches which landed flush on Hutchinson. Hutchinson showed an amazing chin as the punches that landed did not seem to faze the Reading, Pa. fighter. The middle rounds saw Hutchinson try to peck away and get some punches through on Rodriguez. Rodriguez showed some solid boxing ability down the stretch.

Rodriguez of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ won by scores of 80-72 and 78-74 on two cards to raise his mark to 22-1. Hutchinson had his seven fight win streak snapped and is now 10-6.

Mikenna Tansley won the NABF and WBA Continental Americas Bantamweight Titles with an eight-round unanimous decision over Amy Salinas.

Tansley was aggressive throughout the fight, and pushed Salinas back repeatedly. In round six, Tansley switched to southpaw and boxed beautifully from that stance over the final three frames and won by scores of 79-73 twice and 78-74.

Tansley of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada is 7-2. Salinas of Las Cruces, NM is 4-4.

Jonathan Rodriguez won a six-round unanimous decision over Wilner Soto in a bantamweight contes.

Rodriguez of Bethlehem, PA won by scores of 60-54 on each card and is now 14-1-1. Soto of Colombia is 22-12.

Thanjhae Teasley remained undefeated with a six-round unanimous decision over Emmanuel Tennison in a welterweight clash.

Teasley of Bethlehem, PA won by scores of 60-54 on all cards and is now 6-0. Tennison of Fort Worth, Texas is 3-5.

Johnny Spell scored a knockdown en-route to a six-round unanimous decision over ANtonio Dunton-El in a lightweight contest.

Spell of Pittsburgh won by scores of 60-53 twice and 59-54 and is now 8-0. Dunton-El of Baltimore is 3-2-2.

Francis Oran stopped Joseph Bond after round two of their four-round heavyweight bout.

Oran dominated the bout and Bond’s corner saw enough to pull their fighter after the second frame.

Devon Young scored a vicious second round stoppage over Lemir Riley in a battle of undefeated heavyweights.

Irish legend Taylor (22-0, 6 KOs) fights in Ireland for the first time in her professional career as she bids to create even more history and further cement herself as the greatest female fighter on the planet when she meets England’s Cameron.

NEW YORK (March 11, 2023)–Split-T Management’s undefeated super flyweight LeAnna Cruz will be in action TONIGHT at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia when she takes on Devany Cuevas Torres in a bout scheduled for four-rounds.

Cruz of Allentown, PA is 3-0 and is coming off a four-round unanimous decision over Lilian Almarez on September 16, 2022 in Philadelphia.

Torres of San Antonio, Texas is 2-2-1. Torres has a win over previously undefeated Stefanie Cohen (2-0-1). Torres is coming off a draw with Alexis Ariaza Mones on December 10, 2022 in Philadelphia.

Cruz is managed under the guidance of Brian Cohen.

Diego Pacheco remained undefeated by stopping Jack Cullen in round four of their 10-round super middleweight bout in Liverpool, England

In round four, Pacheco landed a perfect left hook to the body that put Cullen on the canvas. Pacheco landed a big right that hurt Cullen badly and the fight was stopped as Cullen was going down at 47 seconds.

Pacheco, 166.10 lbs of Los Angeles is 18-0 with 15 knockouts. Cullen, 167.8 lbs of Little Leaver, ENG is 21-4-1.

Darragh Foley stopped Robbie Davies Jr. in round three of their 10-round super lightweight contest.

In round two, Foley dropped Davies with a right hook just before the bell sounded to end the round. Early in round three, Foley landed another right hook that put Davies down again. Davies appeared to snap his right foot and he could not continue and the fight was stopped at 26 seconds.

Foley, 139.6 lbs of Bondi, AUS is 22-4-1 with 10 seconds. Davies, 139.12 lbs of Liverpool, ENG is 23-4.

Johnny Fisher stopped Alfonso Damiani in round four of their scheduled eight-round heavyweight bout.

In round four, Fisher landed a big body shot that set off a big flurry that was ended by a booming right in the corner that hurt Damaiani, and the bout was called at 2:05.

Fisher, 240.12 lbs of Romford, ENG is 8-0 with seven knockouts. Damiani, 233,13 lbs of Subiaco, ITA is 6-3.

Peter McGrail won a 10-round unanimous decision over Nicolas Nahuel Botelli in a super bantamweight fight.

In round eight, Botelli was bleeding from his nose.

McGrail, 123.8 lbs of Liverpool, ENG won by scores of 100-90 on all cards and is now 7-0. Botelli, 123.12 lbs of Salta, ARG is 14-8.

Rhiannon Dixon stopped Vicky Wilkinson in round six of their scheduled 10-round lightweight bout.

In round six, Dixon dropped Wilkinson with a body shot. Seconds later Dixon dropped Wilkinson with a right hand and the referee stopped the fight at 1:06.

Dixon, 134.12 lbs of Warrington, ENG is 8-0 with one knockout. Wilkinson, 132.1 lbs of Wombourne, ENG is 5-1-1.

Aqib Fiaz stopped Dean Dodge in the eighth and final round of their super featherweight bout.

Fiaz hurt Dodge with a right hand in round eight. Fiaz landed a hard flurry of punches on the ropes, and the bout was stopped at 2:20.

Fiaz, 134.7 lbs of Oldham, ENG is 11-0 with one knockout. Dodge, 132.15 lbs of Yeovil, ENG is 9-3-1.

In a battle of Liverpool based middleweights, Paddy Lacey won a six-round decision over James McCarthy.

Lacey, 162.14 lbs won by a 60-54 score and is now 8-0. McCarthy, 160.15 lbs is 2-5-1.

Promoted by Scott Abella, the electrifying event, highlighting professional boxers out of New Jersey and New York, includes an eight-fight card: four-six-rounders (6) and four-four-rounders (4) – (SUBJECT TO CHANGE). 

Featured in the slate of potential six-rounders, the undefeated, and ascending boxing star, Raymond “The Scientist” Cuadrado, will put his 5-0-0 record up on the line against Usiel Hernandez (2-1-0) in a junior lightweight bout (scheduled at 135 lbs). 

Standing at 5’9, Cuadrado, fighting out of Ridgewood, Queens, NY, has become a lethal prospect for boxing fans to zone in on. With the well-known alias of “The Scientist”, he made his pro-debut back in April of 2021 and gained a superb following after his Bergen County Fight Night 2 performance in July of 2022, presented by Abella Boxing. 

“It’s just a great energy between the promoter, and staff members,” Cuadrado said about returning on an Abella Boxing Promotions card. “The environment, and being close to home, so my hometown supporters can always show up and show love at the events.”

The 26-year-old continues to climb the ranks with his dynamic versatility in the ring and plans to add to his resume on Saturday night April 1st. 

“I’m always looking one step ahead, thinking one step ahead,” Cuadrado said. “Making sure everything is right where I want it every single time.”

He added: “I’m just coming stronger, and I’m ready to display new skills that people haven’t seen out of me before. Constantly thinking of leveling up.” 

For sure, an elite type of mindset, but what connects Cuadrado’s demeanor to “leveling up,” varies among many, if not, all within the boxing spectrum. You see, when Cuadrado finds the time and isn’t in the gym, he utilizes his skills as an avid video game streamer on Twitch. 

“Whenever I’m able to, I try to stream on Twitch, just to have some fun with the community, and try to build a fanbase there, if possible,” Cuadrado noted. 

“It’s always nice when you see two interesting groups collaborating, so, that’s what I try to do with boxing and video games. Have fun with it, bring one community into another by trying to bridge that gap.” 

Furthermore, Cuadrado remains growing his fanbase bout by bout and is expected to have a massive group of supporters traveling from across the NY/NJ region to attend Bergen County Fight Night 3. 

“I’m happy to see new people become fans, and purchase tickets,” he said. “Seeing not only new faces, but more faces fill out the seats just to come out and support me is always a good feeling. As I continue to grow as a fighter, it’s only gonna reach a bigger fanbase.” 

Additionally, Bergen County Fight Night 3 will mark Cuadrado’s first pro-bout of six rounds as well as his heaviest, scheduled at 135 lbs. But, with that said, he’s all set to go, awaiting the calendar to strike Saturday, April 1st. 

“Now that we’re doing six rounds, I’m more than ready to take it all the way, if need be, but, if I can take the knockout early, that’s a big goal as well.”

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – March 10, 2023 – Undefeated Australian superstar Tim Tszyu and former world champion Tony “Superbad” Harrison met face-to-face in front of the iconic Sydney Harbor Bridge and famed Sydney Opera House on Friday, putting their differences aside to shake hands and wish each other good luck at the final press conference ahead of their showdown for the vacant Interim WBO 154-pound title live on SHOWTIME Saturday March 11 at 10:45 p.m. ET/7:45 p.m. PT.

While Harrison strolled onto the dais shirtless and looking supremely confident, Tszyu took his time at Bennelong Lawn and Royal Botanic Gardens before exiting a Dodge Ram Viper V10 in a dazzling blue suit.

“I like Tim,” Harrison said on stage. “I don’t think he knows how corny he is, but I like him. That’s cool the way he rolled up. That’s him. I like it. I’m just different.”

“I’m not into all this diva stuff, rolling up in a car,” Tszyu admitted. “I just roll with the punches. All this other stuff, it doesn’t matter to me.”

“I see him, and he looks dry, but he looks ready. I don’t really like Tony right now. I’m ready to fight right now. There’s no kisses and hugs happening. I’m coming to fight. There’s a dog in me right now. 

“Tony’s a funny guy. He’s a good talker and he’s a banter-type guy and he’s got a little comedian in him. Everyone’s different the way we do things personality wise. So let him be him.

“I’m coming here in a dog fight. This is the opponent I need to show what I can do. This is a different Tim you will see. I feel in a different mode. I just feel different. I had 350 rounds of sparring, and that’s a lot of rounds and I tapered at the right time. I just feel in tremendous shape. As the rounds go up, the more energy I get.

“I’m not judging Tony from his past, I’m judging Tony for his preparation for this fight. Because what he was before is not what he is now. He could be much better, or he could be much worse. He could be full-steam rounds 9 through 12, or he could be hitting rock bottom. Who knows?”

“I feel amazing. In past fights I’d weigh 162, 63. But I’m right there. Not only physically but mentally I feel amazing. I hear Tim speak about how skinny I am and how frail I look, but I came up here without a shirt on so you could visualize what you’re about to touch. I want you to see it, believe it. Visualize it, son. I came here to show exactly what you’re going to see. I’m not here to catfish you. I want you to go to sleep and dream about me and see what you’re about to get.

“Fighting for me is fun. I’ve been fighting every single day of my life. I don’t think he’s had to endure half the stuff that I have. This fight, this press conference is fun for me. Like I said, I feel great.

“He got out of that car like a diva. You had someone open the door for you. I’m not talking about the type of suit you got on, I’m talking about how you got out of that car like a diva. Like, come on, man. He’s just different. I’m not knocking him. What floats his boat floats his, what floats mine floats mine, but Sunday we’re gonna be in the same boat and let’s see who makes it off.

“I already have visualized how this fight is coming. I think I know how this fight is going to play out, and I think the whole world knows how this fight plays out. For me, expect the unexpected. I know he expects me to do one thing, but expect the unexpected. I know we’re both going into war and it’s going to be a great fight.”
