– Friday, June 15, 2012 7:30pm ET featuring Cage Wars 16 from the Harrah’s Casino in Chester Pennsylvania. In the main event, Hector Pacheco (1-3) battles Epifano Diaz (1-2) in a lightweight showdown. Pacheco is coming off an impressive win at “Cage Wars 12” via heel hook in round one. Pacheco is a tough draw for any upcoming fighter as he has the cardio to go three full rounds and has only been stopped once. Pacheco is also ready, willing and able to stand in the middle of the cage and trade punches with any 155 lb fighter. Diaz is coming off a tough decision loss at Ring of Combat earlier this year and looks to get back on the right track with a victory over Pacheco. Never stopped in a fight, Diaz has always showed the heart of a lion and his fight with Pacheco should be a barnburner as neither man knows the meaning of retreat. In the co-main event, Juan Vazquez (1-2) takes on Nathan Van Tassel (0-2) in a welterweight tilt. Vazquez is a New Jersey native and this will be his debut with “Cage Wars”. Vazquez utilizes a high risk-high reward fighting style that has made him a crowd favorite in the East Coast. He will look to try and get Van Tassel in a brawl and end the fight with a spectacular finish. Van Tassel is looking for his first victory as a professional and also likes to bang. He has suffered both of his losses via submission so the fans might be in for a real rock ’em sock ’em fight as both of these warriors like to throw leather.

– Friday, June 15, 2012 8:30pm ET featuring Ring of Combat XLI at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The main event, Uriah Hall (6-2) fights Nodar Kudukhashvili (0-0) for the vacant ROC Middleweight Championship. Hall comes into the bout on a 2-fight win streak, both by stoppages, one via KO and one via submission. In fact, all 6 wins by Hall have come via stoppage making Hall one of the most exciting fighters on the East Coast circuit. The native of the country Georgia, Kudukhashvili, comes into the fight a relative unknown, although he has had fights in Eastern Europe they are not officially recorded in MMA databases. Kudukhashvili is a sambo expert and loves to grapple to if he can get the fight to the ground he will look to finish Hall on the mat. In the co-main event, James Jenkins (5-0) battles Guillermo “Will” Serment (3-3) for the ROC Featherweight Title. The undefeated Jenkins has fought his whole career inside the ROC cage and now he goes for gold. With only 1 decision to his credit, Jenkins is a fighter that likes to push the pace and create his own openings and look for the finish. Serment is on a 2-fight win streak himself, and the Illinois native comes to New Jersey to take make it number 3 against Jenkins. Serment likes to grind his opponents out winning by decision so this matchup will be a contrast in styles with Jenkins looking for a way to stop Serment and Serment looking to wear Jenkins down. In other title fights, Ed Gordon (4-0) fights Carlos Brooks (4-1) for the ROC Light Heavyweight Title. Gordon has been on a tear in his early career winning all 4 of his fights. Gordon is heavy handed and packs dynamite in both hands. Brooks is coming off a spectacular first round KO himself and this bout has the makings to be fight of the night, because these two 205 lb fighters are going to be throwing everything but the kitchen sink at each other. And Jimmie Rivers (8-1) takes on Justin Hickey (6-2) for the ROC Bantamweight Championship. Rivera holds a championship with another organization already, and looks to add to his collection with this fight. The Bellator and TUF vet has faced a who’s who of the East Coast’s best and will look to utilize his strong wrestling base to nullify any of Hickey’s offense. Hickey has won 6 of his last 7 bouts and this will be his first time going for a title. He also has a strong ground game and will look to win the scrambles and land points on the feet. If Hickey wins this bout, he will draw a lot of attention to himself as beating Rivers is no easy task.

– Friday, June 15, 2012 7:30pm ET featuring School of Hard Knocks 25 – Medicine Hat at the Cypress Centre Auditorium, Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. In the main event, Dia Grant (5-6) from Dynamic MMA in Calgary, Alberta takes on Roy Bradshaw (8-9) from Sik Jitsu in Inchelium, Washington. Grant is coming off an impressive victory at HKFC 23 where he defeated his opponent via RNC in round two. In fact, Grant has won 3 of his last 4, all by stoppage, and looks to give Bradshaw the same fate. A well rounded grappler and striker Grant can finish fights on his feet or on the mat and with the quick turnaround (his last bout being last month), Grant has been working nonstop on his MMA game. For Bradshaw, the Pacific Northwest vet has been a pro since 2009 and never turned down a challenge yet. He comes into the bout with Grant on a 2-fight win streak himself and looks to make it number 3 against one of HKFC most decorated fighters in Grant. Both of these fighters are looking to break out from the pack and the winner of this bout will do so. In co-main event, Charmaine Tweet (1-2) from Chi-Ki Training in Regina, SK takes on Chicago native Adrienne Seiber (1-2) from Academy of Self Defense in a featherweight scrap. Tweet is a kickboxing standout who likes to bang when she steps into the cage. Tweet is also proficient on the ground picking up a win in her last bout via guillotine choke. For Seiber, who is a Bellator veteran, she has proven to be a tough matchup with anyone as she has never been stopped in a fight and has heavy hands herself winning by TKO. This bout has all of the makings for fight of the night as the winner will improve her record to .500 so look for both women to be throwing punches with bad intentions.

Chambers – Adamek undercard

On Saturday, June 16th, NBC Sports Network “Fight Night will return with Tomasz “Goral” Adamek vs. “Fast” Eddie Chambers at Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. The first fight will be 6:30pm at “The Rock” and the NBCSN broadcast will begin begin at 9PM ET.

The undercard is a true boxing fan’s dream:

Bryant Jennings:
Jennings made a big splash when he agreed to step into the very first NBC Sports Network Fight Night main event. Jennings beat Maurice Byarm that night, and has been on a roll ever since. His TKO of Sergei Liakhovich on NBCSN in March proved that Jennings was no fluke. This Saturday, Jennings, 13-0, 6 KOs, makes his third appearance on the series when he takes on Steve Collins, 25-1, 18 KOs for the USBA heavyweight title in the 10-round co-feature.

vs.

Steve Collins:
The once-defeated Texan Steve Collins, 25-1-1, 18 KOs, has twice as many pro bouts as the fast-rising Bryant Jennings, and has more knockouts than Jennings has fights. So, the “Freight Train”, as his fans call him, may present a stern challenge for the new NBCSN star. With all that power, Collins will certainly be looking to test Jennings’ chin. To help him out, the Texan will have height and weight advantages over the Philadelphian. Perhaps Collins can do what Jennings’ previous 13 opponents could not.

________________

Curtis Stevens:
In his first fight as a true middleweight (160 lbs.), Curtis Stevens, 22-3, 16 KOs, looks to make a splash before Adamek’s Polish fans at the Prudential Center, where he upset then undefeated Pitor Wilczewski, in his last start in Newark, on July 11, 2009. Curtis has extra incentive this time out now that his new baby boy, Amor, is in his life and inspiring him to work harder than ever. Stevens faces Marcus Upshaw, 14-7-2, 6 KOs, in an 8-rounder that will air on NBCSN between the co-feature and main event.

vs.

Marcus Upshaw:
Floridian Marcus Upshaw, 14-6-2, 6 KOs, is best known for his 2008 draw with James McGirt, Jr. His last time out he beat Durrell Richardson by unanimous decision. This time, he’s had a full five weeks of training camp, and comes to Newark with upset on his mind. The natural 160-pounder should be a real test for Curtis Stevens.

________________

Doel Carrasquillo:
Known as “The Upset King” to many, the heavy-handed Doel Carrasquillo is the kind of guy who is in the fight until the very end, even if he falls behind on the scorecards. Doel carries fight-ending power in both fists, as upset victims Shamone Alvarez (TKO5), Denis Doughlin (TKO3), and many others can attest. His deceiving record of 16-19-1, 14 KOs, has lulled many into thinking he is a push over, but Carrasquillo always comes to fight. Jamaal Davis will have to be careful in this one.

vs.

Jamaal Davis:
Jamaal “Da Truth” Davis, 13-8-1, 6 KOs, is coming off a solid decision victory over tough Eberto Medina, and is looking to stay in the win column against Carrasquillo, in this his second appearance at the Prudential Center. The classic Philly fighter, has faced one tough foe after another in his career, and is always prepared to do battle. Davis has the skills to beat Carrasquillo, but will have his hands full until the final bell. Davis will have to be at his best in this must-win fight.

________________

Jose Peralta:
Jersey City resident, Jose Peralta makes his third start at “the Rock” when he squares off against Dontre King of Maryland in a 6-round bout. In his last fight, Peralta topped Samuel Santana in tough battle, for his sixth straight victory. If he can keep that streak going against King, Peralta, 8-1, 4 KOs, may start turning some heads in the jr. welterweight division.

vs.

Dontre King:
This Maryland measuring stick figures to test Peralta, as he has numerous other young prospects. Although he lost his last bout, Dontre King went four for five before that. If taken lightly he’s a sleeper that is ready to pounce. He’s the type of guy Peralta has to be careful with. He’s not squeamish about taking out-of-town fights, or facing rising stars with pretty records. In fact, that’s exactly what he does.

_____________

John Thompson:
Known as the “Apollo Kid”, John Thompson is a hometown middleweight making his first-ever start at Prudential Center. He’ll try to impress the boxing-smart Newark crowd when he puts his spotless, 8-0, 3 KOs record on the line against journeyman John Mackey of Montgomery, AL. The 22-bout veteran is the most experienced fighter Thompson has ever faced.

vs.

John Mackey:
It was not so long ago that John Mackey, 13-6-3, 6 KOs, dished a 15-0 Donald Orr his first career setback. He’ll be looking to do the same against John Thompson Saturday night. He’s previously fought before the action-hungry Prudential Center crowd, so he knows he has to come to fight. In his last bout, Mackey held 11-1 Vladine Biosse to an 8-round draw. Thompson’s mere 8-0 record has Mackey licking his chops.

_________________

Tureano Johnson:
Undefeated Tureano Johnson looks to extend his pro winning streak to nine straight with his first trip to “the Rock”. Only two fighters have avoided being knocked out by Johnson, a native of the Bahamas. As an amateur, Johnson had more than 300 bouts and spent three years in the Cuban amateur boxing program, which to a boxer, is like getting a Harvard education. Johnson faces Roberto Yong on Saturday.

vs.

Roberto Yong:
Roberto Yong is coming off his upset of skilled Philadelphian Fred Jenkins, Jr. His two-fisted power punching shocked the undefeated Jenkins, who may have been caught looking past Yong’s ordinary-looking 5-4-1, 4 KOs, record. No doubt Yong will be looking to surprise Tureano Johnson when they meet in their six-round middleweight scrap.

_____________

Patrick Farrell:
A fireman from Jersey City, heavyweight Patrick Farrell, 6-1-1, 3 KOs, is no stranger to the Pru Center fans. His 4-rounder against Philly’s David Williams on Saturday will be his fourth appearance at the venue. Farrell’s only loss came at the hands of another Philadelphian, so he will be looking for some measure of revenge against Williams.

vs.

David Williams:
Philadelphia’s David Williams will be looking to end his three-bout losing streak when he gets in the ring with Patrick Farrell. Williams lost to rising star Bryant Jennings about one year ago, so he’s been in with some very stiff competition. He should provide a good test for Farrell, who’s 50% KO percentage may not be enough to send Williams back to Philly early.

FIGHT INFO: The June 16th NBC Sports Network Fight Night card at Newark’s Prudential Center features Tomasz Adamek vs. Eddie Chambers. Co-featured on the card will be Bryant Jennings vs. Steve Collins, Garrett, Indiana, 25-1,18 KO’s. The NBCSN broadcast will begin at 9PM ET. Mayweather release request denied

Pound for pound king Floyd Mayweather’s request for an early release from prison was denied by judge Melissa Saragosa.

“While the physical training areas and times provided to (Mayweather) may not be consistent with his prior regimen, he is indeed provided sufficient space and time for physical activity if he so chooses,” Saragosa wrote.

A mere 10 days after Mayweather turned himself in to begin his three-month sentence, his legal team filed an emergency motion Monday asking the court to put him under house arrest or move him into the general jail population — something that jail officials had avoided to protect the celebrity fighter. The motion claimed the undefeated champion might never fight again because he was getting out of shape in solitary confinement.

Mayweather’s legal team told the court this week that his personal physician, Dr. Robert Voy, visited the jail Friday and determined the fighter had lost muscle tone. Voy estimated Mayweather was consuming fewer than 800 calories a day instead of his usual 3,000 or 4,000 calories. Mayweather also wasn’t drinking enough because he wasn’t allowed bottled water and doesn’t enjoy tap water.

Prosecutor Lisa Luzaich scoffed at the complaints during a court hearing Tuesday.

“It’s jail,” Luzaich told the court. “Where did he think he was going? The Four Seasons?”

Monaghan stops Johnson in Eight

New York, NY (6/14/12) – Earlier tonight before a near capacity crowd at the Roseland Ballroom, DiBella Entertainment presented the latest installment of the Broadway Boxing series.

In the main event bout of the evening, before his army of fans, Long Island’s favorite son “Irish” Seanie Monaghan improved his record to a perfect 14-0, 9KO’s, winning the WBC Continental Americas Light Heavyweight title in the process with an eighth-round TKO over Romero Johnson.

The crowd went into an uproar as soon as the bagpipes sounded to signal Monaghan’s walk into the ring, and they didn’t let up for the entire contest. Monaghan jumped on Johnson from the opening bell, scoring with hard combinations to both the body and head. Johnson showed that he came to fight though, choosing to stand toe-to-toe with the heavy-handed Monaghan.

Monaghan, who is known for his aggressive nonstop action style, switched things midway through the fight, showing another dimension to his arsenal by boxing nicely from the outside behind a stiff jab.

Just when it looked as though Monaghan would cruise to an easy unanimous decision, a huge right hand rocked Johnson badly. Sensing his opponent was in trouble, Monaghan went in for the kill, jumping all over Johnson, landing heavy shots with both hands. Johnson showed a granite chin, refusing to go to the canvas, but there was just no stop in Monaghan as he continued to let his hands go.

With their fighter taking heavy punishment, Johnson’s corner summoned the ringside physician to call a halt to the contest. Official time of the stoppage was 2:30 of round number eight.

Super Prospect Thomas Dulorme remained perfect as he battered by scoring a stoppage after round seven of a scheduled ten round Welterweight bout over Alberto Herrera.

In what was a bloody contest, Gabriel Bracero was able to withstand the fists and head of Jermaine White to win a eight round unanimous decision in a Jr. Welterweight clash

The hadbutts started out from the first roundon as Bracero began to bleed from above his right eye from a clash of heads just moments into the bout. In between bouts with White’s head, Bracero was able to land hard shots as he featured some solid counter right hands over the first four rounds.

Bracero received six visits from the ringside physician and it with each appearance it seemed that the doctor gave Bracero a longer look as the blood continued to stream from under the left eye.

White was finally deducted a point in round four for the repeated headbutts.

Bracero was being cheered from ringside from not only he throngs of supporters but the only man to put a loss on his resume in DeMarcus “Chop Chop” Corley.

White was rugged and tried to press the action down the stretch but it was Bracero’s boxing ability that settled the sometimes sloppy fight down and come home with the victory

Bracero, 141 lbs of Brooklyn, NY won by scores of 80-71, 79-72 and 77-74 and is now 19-1. White, 141 lbs of Las Vegas is 17-5.

Each won a card at 58-56 with a third card read 57-57.

Lomanakis, 234 lbs of New York is 6-0-2. Woodward, 198 lbs of Wilson, NC is now 4-6-3

Pagliara continued to put his punches together until he really opened up in round five here his shots bloodied the nose of Griffin. In round six, Pagliara trapped Griffin in the corner and landed a big combination that had referee Harvey Dock standing close for a possible stoppage. Griffin survived that and even tried a late rally but it was too little as Pagliara got the decision by scores of 59-55 on all cards.

Pagliara, 132 lbs of Brooklyn via Italy is now 13-4-1. Griffin, 132 lbs of Las Vegas is 6-102.

He said that the committee “will meet soon” and “will examine [the fight] with five recognized international judges to evaluate the video of the match and agree to what emerges.

“I want to clarify that in no way does this say we are doubting the capacity of these judges, which we consider as honest and competent judges,” Valcarcel said.

Bradley to be in cast for eight weeks

According to Dan Rafael of espn.com , Newly crowned WBO Welterweight champion Timothy Bradley will be in a cast after injuring his left his left foot in his controversial title winning effort against Manny Pacquiao.

“Timmy was told to keep it elevated, put ice on it and heat on it and stay off it,” said Bradley’s manager Cameron Dunkin said. “He thinks he [twisted it by stepping] on the referee’s foot.”

“The left foot was the one we were really concerned about because it had like a dip on the top of the foot and had really bad swelling. The whole foot was bad. So we didn’t know what was wrong,” Dunkin said. “When he went to the hospital in Las Vegas after the fight, they said it’s possible he had a fracture but they didn’t see anything on the X-ray. They said, ‘There’s definitely something wrong. You need an MRI.’ ”

Dunkin said the left foot was diagnosed with “pulled ligaments in it, but nothing was snapped or too bad. But they were strained and the ligaments were badly damaged. They said he needs to be off his feet for eight weeks. He’ll be in a wheelchair and eventually he’ll get crutches and his right foot will be OK, and he can hobble around while his left foot is in a cast.”

“He said the mat sunk about 3 inches, that it was really soft and hard to move around,” Dunkin said. “He thought maybe that was part of the problem he had with his feet. He’ll be in the cast for eight weeks and then have his [left] foot re-examined. He’s on anti-inflammatories. For him not to get knocked down by Pacquiao when he has no feet, that shows you the kind of fighter he is. Now we just want him to rest and heal properly.”

“I would like to thank all my friends, family, and supporters,” he said. “I finally had a chance to watch the fight [Monday] night and after watching it I felt just like I did the night of the fight. I won the fight! Pacquiao is a great man and great fighter. He will have a chance to get his title back. I will be able to get a more definitive win.”

Ortiz to meet Alvarez pending win over Lopez

Victor Ortiz has been tabbed to take on WBC Super Welterweight champion Saul Alvarez provided he wins his June 23rd fight with Josesito Lopez.

“These are two young fighters in the prime of their careers fighting each other,” Said Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer said of the match.

Should Ortiz lose or be unavailable for the September 15 bout, Schaefer has an unknown Plan B.

“We have contingency plans in place, which we have worked out with Showtime, because you never know what will happen,” Schaefer said. “Of course, Josesito Lopez would be part of those contingency plans.”

Golden Boy Owner Oscar De la Hoya Said: “This fight June 23 does concern me because Josesito Lopez is no walk in the park. It’s a huge opportunity for him and it puts more pressure on Victor Ortiz to go out there and prove he deserves to be in the same ring with Canelo Alvarez. This June 23 fight is very important and people are expecting a very difficult and tough fight at the Staples Center.”

“Victor is the kind of guy who wants to fight everyone,” Schaefer said. “He mentioned to us that he wanted to fight Canelo. That was always something on his mind and when the opportunity presented itself he jumped on it and he knows he needs to win (on June 23). Josesito Lopez also knows what’s at stake.”

“Canelo Alvarez is one of the most entertaining and charismatic fighters in the sport and there’s nobody better to headline the card on Mexican Independence Day,” Said Showtime Sports CEO Steven Espinoza. “Canelo is one of the biggest superstars in Mexico and we have full confidence he will develop into one in the United States.”

“That is the kind of relationship we look forward to developing with Canelo,” Espinoza said.

“After this weekend, we wanted to put together a fight card where we can leave the judges at home,” Schaefer said. “‘Knockout Kings’ is the perfect title. Every fight we put on TV, even off TV, there should be no judges needed.”

“Sept. 15 (I hope) you can leave you’re scorecards at home. (I hope) you won’t need them,” said Schaefer, adding that the card would also be available in movie theaters around the country like most of his company’s major pay-per-view cards.

JOHN LENNOX & ANTHONY “JUICE” YOUNG TO RETURN THIS WEDNESDAY IN NEWARK

NEWARK, NEW JERSEY (June 12, 2012)—This Wednesday night at The Robert Treat Hotel in Newark, Heavyweight John Lennox will see action in a six round bout against Rodricka Ray while Welterweight Anthony “Juice” Young will take on Christian Steele in a four round bout.

The card, which is headlined by Richard Pierson taking Aaron Mitchell in an eight round bout from the WBC Fecarbox Super Middleweight title, is promoted by Gabe LaConte’s First Round Promotions and Greg Cohen Promotions.

Lennox of Cartet, New Jersey is riding four fight winning streak and has pushed his record to 10-1 with five knockouts.

Ray of Jackson, Tennessee has a record of 3-5-1 with one knockout.

“John is in great condition for this fight”, said Lennox & Young’s manager Rich Masini

“John’s trainer Ray McCline has been telling me how sharp John is looking and we know that Ray is a durable guy as he has fought six undefeated guys and went the distance with Maurice Byarm so we expect a great performance on Wednesday night.”

“With a win here, we have an opportunity to compete in the WBC World Cup that is a four tiered tournament that will create a top contender for the world title but first we have to take care of business on Wednesday”

Young of Atlantic City has been perfect as he is 4-0 with two knockouts.

“Juice is a once in a lifetime, blue chip prospect and he is born to be a champion”, said Masini.

“Not often does a manager get to manage a kid with this kind of ability that “Juice” has”

Steele of Staunton, VA has a record of 2-3 with one knockout and is coming off a first round knockout in his last bout.

“We expect Steele to bring his best”, continued Masini

In his last bout, Young had to come off the canvas and gut out a hard fought decision over Jose Javier Calderon on April 27th in Atlantic City.

“Anthony showed tremendous heart in his last bout as he had the adversity of being knocked down and cut. He not only dropped Calderon in the next round but he came down the stretch and dominated the last couple rounds. Anybody can perform in prosperous times but a true champ performs in adverse conditions.”

“John and “Juice”had a great camp and I want to thank Ray McCline and Vince Jackson for the training”

“A lot of this wouldn’t be possible without the them or our sponsors, who have been vital in the development of these two kids”

“I have to thank the new promotional arm of Premiere Boxing and Entertainment as well as the following Hard Energy Drink with Greg Porsella; Craig’s Plumbing and Heating; JAM Maintenance with John, and the Main Street Barber Shops and Mike. All of these companies believe in John & “Juice””

John “ApolloKidd” Thompson steps it up against John Mackey this Saturday in Newark

NEWARK (June 11, 2012)—This Saturday night at the Prudential Center, undefeated Middleweight prospect John “ApolloKidd” Thompson will look to make it 9-0 when he takes on the toughest and most experience foe of his career in John Mackey

Thompson, twenty-three years old of Newark and Mackey will fight a six round bout at the Prudential Center as part of the undercard that will feature Tomasz Adamek and Eddie Chambers on NBC Sports Network.

Mackey of Montgomery, Alabama has a record of 13-6-3 with six knockouts has wins over the likes of Tim Leonard (3-0-1); Tony Cygan (12-1) Alexander Mancea (7-1) & Donald Orr (15-0) and has faced the likes of Anthony Greenidge (12-1); Cecil McCalla (6-0); Derek Ennis (17-2-1); James McGirt Jr. (21-2-1) and Tarvis Simms (26-1-1).

Mackey has draws with Jesse Nicklow (19-1-1) and his last bout on October 7th when he drew with Vladine Biosse (11-1) in Biosse’s home area of Providence.

Thompson is not worried about the experience that Mackey brings to the table.

“He is not much of a boxer, he is a brawler/puncher”, said Thompson

“I am going to work hard to prove that I am the better boxer.”

Thompson is looking forward to facing the veteran as it should be a coming out performance.

“This is a fight that should open doors. He is ranked twenty-two and I am at sixty-three”

It should be a great atmosphere on Saturday as usually tens of thousands pack the Prudential Center for an Adamek fight and Thompson is looking forward to putting on a show in his hometown.

“This is the biggest event I have been on and I consider the Prudential Center the MGM Grand of the East Coast. It is going to be a great experience and I will put on as great of a show as I can”

Thompson is promoted by Gabe Laconte’s First Round Promotions and is managed by Vito Mielnicki.

“My boxer is ready and focused on becoming a world champ in the near future and this is another step towards the top”, said Mielnicki

SHOWTIME SPORTS® ANNOUNCES NEW DOCUMENTARY SERIES: ALL ACCESS (Video)

NEW YORK (June 7, 2012)—Building off its Emmy® Award-winning campaign in 2011, SHOWTIME Sports® will introduce a new documentary series titled ALL ACCESS in June.

The first installment, ALL ACCESS: Victor Ortiz, will premiere on Wednesday, June 13 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on SHOWTIME®, ahead of the former welterweight world champion’s headlining fight against Josesito Lopez on the June 23 edition of SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING from STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, and in place of the previously announced FIGHT CAMP 360° series on the event. Following the premiere, ALL ACCESS: Victor Ortiz will re-air multiple times on CBS Sports Network, SHOWTIME and SHOWTIME EXTREME®, and will be available anytime on SHOWTIME ON DEMAND®.

From the network that created the acclaimed FIGHT CAMP 360°, ALL ACCESS will provide viewers with intimate portraits of the most compelling personalities in sports. Although not limited to the fight game, initial series subjects will take viewers behind the curtain and inside the provocative and often edgy world of boxing and mixed martial arts with virtually unrestricted access as only SHOWTIME can.

“Captivating storylines abound in the world of sports, and ALL ACCESS will illuminate them in a unique and thorough manner,” said Stephen Espinoza, Executive Vice President and General Manager, SHOWTIME Sports. “No longer reserved for blockbuster events, this series will give viewers a behind-the-scenes ‘all access’ look at individual personalities, places and storylines throughout sports like no other show on television.”

The 30-minute debut will chronicle the charismatic and hard-hitting welterweight boxer’s journey from his perspective.

“The tumultuous events of the last year of Victor’s career have been documented, but never before from an intimate, first-person perspective,” said Espinoza. “ALL ACCESS: Victor Ortiz will do just that as Victor continues his journey back toward the top of the 147-pound division. ALL ACCESS will reveal Victor Ortiz as a person, living in the real world with some of the same challenges that we all face in life, and some of the challenges reserved only for his profession.”

In 2011, Ortiz participated in two of the year’s most anticipated bouts: the 2011 Fight of the Year (USA Today, The Ring magazine) where he captured Andre Berto’s World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight world championship and a high-profile, controversial knockout loss to Floyd Mayweather on pay per view. Conversely in 2012, Ortiz participated in two of the year’s most discussed non-bouts: a Feb. 11 rematch against Berto that was postponed when Berto suffered a torn left biceps injury in training camp and the pair’s rescheduled June 23 matchup that was cancelled after Berto failed a pre-fight drug test.

The Saturday, June 23, SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING telecast will be a live three-fight event (SHOWTIME, 9 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the West Coast) featuring an all-action 12-round bout between super lightweights Humberto Soto and Lucas Matthysse as well as 10-round fight featuring hard-hitting American heavyweight Chris Arreola.
