Solis is one of very few fighters in the world who could actually beat both brothers and I am convinced that he will prove it once he gets another chance.“

For Silva, this could be a make or break fight as he has suffered back to back losses, so expect the Strikeforce and Bellator veteran to come out guns blazing, leaving nothing to chance. Lennox of Carteret, New Jersey sports a record of 10-1 with five knockouts is coming off a first round stoppage over Miles Kelly on February 17th, will travel to St. Maarten, Netherlands on April 7th to take on thirty-four fight veteran Mike Middleton for the vacant UBC International Title.

This will kick off a very active spring and summer for Lennox as the former gridiron standout will inducted into the Carteret High School of Fame in June.

A Tuesday Purse bid was called off due to Klitschko adviser Shelly Finkel.

“There is no purse bid because we made a deal,” Finkel said.

Klitschko (57-3, 50 KOs), who turned 36 on Sunday, will be meeting Thompson (36-2, 24 KOs), 40, of Washington, D.C., in a rematch. Kessler and Green were supposed to meet in the third round of the Super Six tournament two years ago. Back then, Kessler’s eye injury prevented the bout from happening. “There is some unfinished business both men want to take care of,” Sauerland added. “I am confident Mikkel will win. Green, an accomplished US amateur (2002 National Golden Gloves Championships Gold Medallist at 178 pounds), is famed and feared for his punching power. In 2002 he broke Mike Tyson´s record for the fastest KO in an amateur fight (8 seconds). As a professional, 21 of his 31 victories came by the way of KO, with almost half of them inside the first three rounds. He won the 2005 Ring Magazine KO of the Year when he destroyed Jaidon Codrington in just 18 seconds.

In early 2010, he replaced Jermain Taylor in the Super Six tournament. From the beginning, he had big trouble to make weight, having to lose 27 pounds before the points loss to WBA Super-Middleweight Champion Andre Ward. After the tournament, he has returned to his natural weight class in style, winning two straight, including a clear points victory over former world title challenger Sebastian Demers. He has been world champion for a long time. But I am faster, I am stronger and I feel I have a lot more skills. He might have fought better opposition, I give him that, but I am the much better athlete.”

Green believes that meeting at light heavyweight will be an advantage. “It evens the playing field,” he stated. “At super-middleweight I had to lose a lot of weight. I lost 27 pounds in three weeks for the Ward fight. So fighting Kessler at super-middleweight would have been a disadvantage for me. I will make a lot of noise on May 19.”

In a battle of two Jr. Middleweights coming off long lay offs after their first loss, James De La Rosa scored a eight round unanimous decision over Tyrone Brunson.

De La Rosa had a solid round one by landing combinations. Brunson had his one shining moment in round two when De La Rosa walked into a right hand that knocked him off balance and his glove touched the canvas for a knockdown. De La Rosa responded nicely in the round as he came back to back Brunson up with combinations. De La Rosa continued the consistency of landed combinations as Brunson leaned in and was only able to throw one punch at a time. De La Rosa’s work showed as Brunson began to swell under his left eye in round seven. In the main event, Brittany Skelton (5-3) will fight for the AAMMA Lightweight Title. Alvarez has tremendous cardio for a cruiserweight as all 5 of his bouts have gone the distance. Alvarez likes to wear out his opponents and push the pace throughout. A strong wrestling background allows Alvarez to usually dictate where the fight goes and he will look to take down Mangaroni in this bout from the early going. For the undefeated Mangaroni, he is the epitome of a fast starter as both his victories have come within the first round, one by KO and the other via submission. Mangaroni has devastating power in both hands and is a strong grappler always looking to finish fights. Alvarez will try to stifle Mangaroni’s attacks by using superior control and positioning on the ground. This will be a classic battle of wills as whoever can control the action in the cage and where the fight goes will have a distinct advantage. In other action, Daniel Valdez (0-3) fights Francisco Castro (5-4) in a featherweight bout. Valdez is coming off a tough loss in his last fight in which he suffered a TKO loss, but his other two defeats came by way of razor close decisions. You have to respect Valdez and his continued determination to always bring it with every fight. Castro is coming off of a tough loss in the California State Finals back in December and before that bout was on a 4-fight winning streak. Castro is a cage general and controls the pace of the action very well, as he grinds out his opponents for unanimous decisions. He will look to do the same against Valdez. Both fighters have proven they can go the distance and this should be a fight where there is constant action between the two 145 lb fighters.

NAAFS continues to promote the Midwest’s premier up and coming fighters and Combat Challenge 19 will only add to NAAFS’ rich history. In the main event, Josh Lasich (3-0) battles Dave Lastafka (6-0). In a battle of unbeatens, something has to break. Lasich is a grappling wizard winning all 3 of his fights by submission (2 in the NAAFS cage). He has also managed to stay healthy through it all as he has already fought once this year. Lastafka is also a NAAFS veteran winning 4 times with the organization. Lastafka also has an unbreakable ground game mixed with a world class striking game as he has stopped 5 of his 6 opponents. Lastafka is the naturally bigger fighter, so expect him to use his strength to try and wear Lasich out on the ground. Lasich should have the advantage in cardio though so it will be interesting to see the strategy in this bout and who is able to impose their will. Nothing is assured in fighting, but this bout is about as close as you can get to a can’t miss fight. The winner will set himself up as one of the rising stars of MMA. In the co-main event, Anthony Holder (3-3) takes on Adib Nour (2-0) in a heavyweight scrap. Holder has won his last 3 fights all in round one. He swings for the fences and when he connects, it usually lights out for his opponents. Nour is just as deadly with his fists as he has finished his two opponents in the first round also, his last fight only lasting 16 seconds. Don’t blink when these two grizzly bears get in the cage as this fight could well be over before the announcer has time to take his seat outside of the cage. Both fighters don’t mess around and there will be very little if any feeling out process. Expect fireworks and expect them early.

– Saturday, March 24, 2012 8:30m ET featuring SportFight X from the Von Braun Center. Huntsville, Alabama. The Von Braun Center will house fans as they witness the first professional fight sanctioned by the Alabama Athletic Commission. This will be the promotions first stop in Alabama and promises to deliver an event matched by none as they have in other states prior to Alabama becoming sanctioned. The main event will feature a professional debut with two fighters who have had an outstanding amateur career as Stephen Wilhite of Cullman, AL vs Luke Neyland of Marietta, GA. Both fighters have fought under the SportFight X banner and scored impressive wins. The 27 year old Wilhite is a well rounded fighter who represents Triad Martial Arts and trains under Johnny Lee Smith. Wilhite is a tough character and afraid of no competitor. Last year at SportFight X “Middle Tennessee Mayhem” he was faced with a gut wrenching dilemma as his opponent of over 45 days had a fainting incident while being examined for a pre-fight medical exam. This occurred about one hour prior to the show leaving Wilhite without an opponent for a short period. Wilhite was offered a one hour notice fight replacement against a 15 pound heavier opponent Greg Taylor from IMA. What began as a sad night for Stephen turned out to be a bad night for Taylor as Wilhite hammered out a win in the first round. Neyland is a 23 year old freestyle fighting product of X3 Sports in Atlanta, Georgia training under Tony Tucci. Neyland has taken tough fights throughout amateur career. In two of his last four fights Neyland has been victorious by arm submission in the first round and at less than the two minute mark.

Wach won twenty of his first twenty-two bouts in Europe (he won two bouts in the United States) before settling in the States and has won four straight over Galen Brown, Jonathan Haggler, Mike Tyson conqueror Kevin McBride and Jason Gavern . March 21, 2012 – This past weekend, in his fist title defense, Antonio DeMarco (26-2, 20 KOs) retained his WBC lightweight championship with a spectacular performance, knocking out Miguel “Mickey” Roman (37-10, 28 KOs) in the fifth round. The victory has opened up a floodgate of opportunities for DeMarco who hails from Los Mochis, Mexico, but a rematch with Jorge Linares is what’s up next.

DeMarco defeated Linares in dramatic fashion last October, a fight which took place at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles. Behind on the scorecards, DeMarco showed why he’s one of boxing’s true warriors, rallying to triumph by 11th-round TKO.

Said his promoter, Gary Shaw, “DeMarco’s dream of becoming a world champion was fulfilled when he beat Jorge Linares and he’s not going to let anyone take it away from him. The fact the he knocked out Roman for the first time in his career means he’s all business. A rematch with Linares is being negotiated and a tentative date has been set for July 7 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California.

“I’m working out the details for this fight to happen because I know the fans want to see these two warriors go at it again. DeMarco never backs down from the toughest challenges and he’ll be ready for Linares come fight night.”

CHESTER, PA (MARCH 21, 2012)—On Friday night May 4th, boxing returns to Harrahs in Chester, PA with a night of championship boxing that will be headlined by a potential toe to toe war between recent world title challenger Tommy Karpecy and Tony Ferrante. The ten round bout will be for the vacant Pennsylvania State Light Heavyweight title.

The show is promoted by Joey Eye Boxing.

Ferrante of Philadelphia has a record of 12-3 with seven knockouts and is coming off a ten round loss to former four time world title challenger Omar Sheika in what many are hailing as one of the best fights in Pennsylvania in recent years.

In that fight, Sheika and Ferrante fought tooth and nail in a bout where both guys were battered and exchanged heavy shots throughout the fight. Ferrante landed some great shots but it wasn’t enough as Sheika applied pressure and outlasted the tough Ferrante and won by scores of 99-90, 99-90 and a better indicator of 95-94.

Ferrante won his first nine professional bouts before dropping back to back bouts to Chuck Mussachio (15-1-2) and Ronson Frank (17-0).

Ironically, Mussachio worked Ferrante’s corner for his bout against Sheika

Karpency of Adah, Pennsylvania brings an impressive mark of 21-3 with fourteen knockouts.

On February 25th, Karpency traveled to Cardiff, Wales to challenge undefeated and highly regarded WBO World Champion Nathan Cleverly for the world Light Heavyweight title. Although the scorecards all read 120-108 in favor of the champion, Karpency fought a spirited battle for which Cleverly called it his toughest title defense to date.

The twenty-six year old Karpency went 11-0-1 in his first twelve bouts which included wins over Demetrius Davis and Etienne Whitaker.

After losing a close decision to Rayco Saunders, Karpency won eight straight and picked up some titles on the process by stopping Cory Phelps (13-4-1) in two rounds to win the WBA Fedecentro Light Heavyweight title.

He defended it once against undefeated and popular Chuck Mussachio (13-0-2).

Karpency then traveled to Germany and dropped a competitive decision to highly ranked and undefeated Karo Murat (21-0) —Murat is currently ranked #2 by the IBF and #8 by the WBO.

Appearing in a six round co-feature will be exciting Lightweight Victor Vasquez.

Vasquez of Philadelphia has a record of 14-6-1 with seven knockouts.

Vasquez was impressive in disposing of Gustavo Dailey (4-11) in round four to headline ROUND 3 at Harrahs in Chester on June 3rd, 2011

Vasquez waged a terrific back and forth war with Osnel Charles before dropping a six round majority decision as part as ROUND 1 at Harrah’s in Chester.

He holds victories over undefeated Thomas McCuiston (1-0); Tyric Robinson (9-4-1) as well as an exciting six round split decision over Bryne Green (5-3) on October 8th in Philadelphia.

Pierson, thirty-one years of Paterson, New Jersey has a record of 10-2 with seven knockouts and looked like he didn’t miss a beat after a twenty month layoff when he took out Anibal Acevedo in one round this past February 17th in Nutley, New Jersey.

Pierson now feels with LaConte behind him that he has a chance to make a lot noise in his career.

The fight started hot for Ennis as he came out boxing beautifully over the first two plus rounds as he mixed up his punches and he could seem to do no wrong. Ennis landed a booming right hand that sent Savage to the canvas in round three and Ennis seemed to be on his way to an easy night and early stoppage. Savage regained his composure and actually controlled some of the middle rounds by constantly pinning Ennis on the ropes and pounding the body of the Philadelphia native. Ennis would try to steal rounds and he did successfully with bursts in the last thirty seconds of many rounds.

Ennis stabilized the Savage rally and the two fought tooth and nail to the final bell with Ennis deservedly getting the decision.

Ennis now is 19-1 will look for a big fight in the loaded Super Middleweight division while Savage fought well but will have to go back to Flint, Michigan with a record of 11-3.

In the co-feature, Vitaliy Demyaneko scored a solid eight round unanimous decision over rugged Ayi Bruce in a Welterweight bout.

Demyaneko controlled the fight from a comfortable distance as he showed a diverse arsenal and kept Bruce from mounting any sustained offense.

Demyaneko remained perfect and won by shutout scores of 80-72 on all cards and is now 20-0.

Dennis Hasson remained perfect with a second round stoppage over Eddie Caminero in a six round Light Heavyweight bout.

Popular Patrick Farrell thrilled his throngs of fans as the Irish Heavyweight made it a joyous St. Patrick’s Day with a four round unanimous decision over Kelven Jenkins.

Good looking Jr. Middleweight prospect Mikael Zewski scored a ninety-two second stoppage over Joel Vargas in a scheduled six round bout.

In what was the fight of the night, Jose Mangu Alejo scored a razor thin split decision over Sammy Santana in a Jr. Welterweight bout.

Many at ringside thought that Santana claimed victory but the two stood toe to toe and had many furious exchanges with both their fists and mouths. What was later found out is that the exciting Alejo fought with a badly injured hand from the first round going forward.

Opening the card was a successful pro debut for Andrew Bentley and he scored a knockdown en route to a four round unanimous decision over Jose Rivera

Rios will attempt to reclaim his old title when he rumbles with Cuban gladiator and World Boxing Association (WBA) interim lightweight champion RICHARD ABRIL in a battle for the vacant WBA lightweight title, Saturday, April 14, at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. The Márquez/Rios world championship event will be produced by Top Rank and distributed Live by HBO Pay-Per-View®, beginning at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT.

The live pay-per-view telecast (SRP $44.95) will also feature a 10-round junior welterweight collision of top-10 contenders — “Mile High” MIKE ALVARADO and MAURICIO HERRERA — and open with undefeated Top-10 contender MERCITO GESTA of the Philippines, in a 10-round lightweight fight. Boxing fans at Mandalay Bay will also see the Márquez-Fedchenko world title fight live, via closed-circuit, on a jumbo screen.

These warriors boast a combined record of 173-9-4 (110 KOs) – a winning percentage of 94%.

At a Miami, Fla. press conference earlier this month, the setting for this fight was set when Abril challenged Rios to fight him for the title. As the verbal exchange heated up, Abril slapped Rios across the face, screaming “You aren’t a real champion!”

“Rios won’t need a GPS to find me on April 14. All he’ll have do to is look up and see the referee holding my hand up in victory,” said Abril.

“He may not have thought I was a real champion when he slapped me but he’s going to know I’m a real champion on April 14 when I knock him on his South Beach,” said Rios. “I do give Abril credit for one thing. I know he’s going to show up for this fight. That will be his second mistake with me.”

Rios (29-0-1, 22 KOs), the former WBA lightweight champion, from Oxnard, Calif., enters this fight having won 10 of his previous 11 fights by knockout. Highlight victories on his resume include Miguel Acosta, Anthony Peterson, Urbano Antillon and John Murray, none of whom went the distance. Abril (17-2-1, 8 KOs), a Cuban expatriate who now resides in Miami, Fla., returns to the ring having won seven of his previous eight fights. He captured the WBA interim lightweight title last October, knocking down former WBA lightweight champion Acosta three times en route to a unanimous decision victory.

Márquez (53-6-1, 39 KOs), of México City, is one of only a rare few from México to have won world titles in three different weight divisions. The only man to go the distance with pound for pound superstar Manny Pacquiao three times, Marquez boasts a Hall of Fame resume highlighted by victories over Marco Antonio Barrera, Manuel Medina, Joel Casamayor, Juan Diaz and Michael Katsidis. Fedchenko (30-1, 13 KOs), from Kharkov, Ukraine, enters this fight riding a 28-month winning streak, which has included WBO European title victories over Willy Blain and Demarcus Corley. He is world-rated No. 5 by the WBO.

Alvarado (32-0, 23 KOs) of Denver, has won 10 of his last 12 bouts by stoppage en route to a career-high No. 3 world rating, in the World Boxing Organization (WBO). Notable knockout victims include Breidis Prescott, Ray Narh, Emmanuel Clottey and Cesar Bazan. Herrera (18-1, 7 KOs), from Lake Elsinore, Calif., enters this fight riding a two-year, five-bout winning streak, highlighted by victories over Ruslan Provodnikov (17-0) and Mike Dallas, Jr. (17-1-1). Herrera is currently world-rated No. 7 by the International Boxing Federation (IBF).

Gesta (24-0-1, 12 KOs), a native of Cebu, Philippines, fights out of San Diego. He returns to the ring with seven of his last 10 victories coming inside the distance, earning career-high world ratings of No. 7 in the WBA and No. 8 in the WBO.

Omar Figueroa stayed undefeated as he stopped Roman Ayala in round two of a scheduled ten round Lightweight bout at the Fantasy Springs Resort in Indio, CA.

Figueroa dominated the first round with landed punches from both hands. In round two, Figueroa landed two crushing lefts with the first being a hard shot to the body and a shot to the head that was followed up by a few shots that sent Ayala to the canvas. When he got to his feet referee Lou Moret called the bout off after Ayala stumbled back at 2:53 of round two.

Figueroa, 136 1/4 lbs of Weslaco, TX is now 15-0-1 with twelve knockouts. Ayala, 135 lbs of Mexico City is now 22-3-1.

“It surprised me when he didn’t try to box because he is a pretty tall guy,” said Figueroa. “Once he started throwing power shots with me, I knew it wouldn’t last long. He had decent power so I was careful of his wild shots but I never thought the fight would make it past the third or fourth round.”

Randy Caballero remained perfect but was extended in hist first ten round bout by scoring unanimous decision over grizzled veteran Jose Luis Araiza in a Bantamweight bout.

Caballero boxed very well over the first half of the bout as he outlanded Araiza almost two to one over the first five rounds. Araiza started landing some heavy overhand rights that seemed to get the attention of Caballero. Caballero righted the ship in rounds eight and nine as he outworked Araiza in between some attempted big shots from Araiza. Round ten was furious with Araiza landing several big shots but time ran out as Caballero had established a big lead.

Caballero, 117 3/4 lbs of Cochella, CA won by scores of 98-92; 98-92 and 97-93 and is now 14-0. Araiza, 117 3/4 lbs of Tecate, MX is now 32-6-1

“This was more of a learning experience for me,” said Caballero after the bout. “We knew he was going to try to do a couple of things in the ring and I let him do them a couple of times. That’s my mistake so we’re going to go back to the gym and keep working so we can come out even better next time.”

In the main event, Ennis (18-1, 12 KO’s) will be making his second start since a shocking upset loss to Alexander Johnson almost a year ago in the same Ballys ring. He came back on January 13th to dispose of durable Grover Young in five rounds.

It was just before the Johnson fight where Ennis was being mentioned with the top Super Middleweight prospects in the world and a win over Savage will go a long way towards putting Ennis back on track to reaching his goals of getting in the championship mix.

Savage (11-2, 6 KO’s) was being mentioned with the likes of Ennis as being a prime Super Middleweight contender before suffering two first round knockout defeats to undefeated Marco Antonio Periban & number-one ranked Adonis Stevenson. A win over Ennis can erase those defeats in the minds of boxing pundits.

LAS VEGAS (March 17, 2012)—World Ranked Cruiserweight contender BJ Flores will be keeping a close eye on Italy today as he is line to meet the winner of the WBC Silver Belt fight between fellow Italians Giacobbe Fragomeni and Silvio Branco.

The fight will be a battle of world champions as Fragomeni (29-3-1, 12 KO’s) and Branco (62-10-2, 37 KO’s) not only compete for the belt by a lofty position in the WBC rankings.

Flores currently sits at number four in the WBC knows that he may end of facing the winner for a chance at the world title.

“As it looks now, I will be able to get the winner in an elimination bout”, said Flores.

“The WBC mandated champion Krzystof Wlodarczyk and Francisco Palacios to rematch and that probably wont happen for a few months and that should up nicely for me to fight the winner of Saturday’s fight and then with a victory I will get the winner of the world title fight”

Lightweight world champion Juan Manuel Marquez will now fight Sergey Fedchenko instead of Rene Cuenca for a vacant Jr. Welterweight belt on April 14 according to Dan Rafael of espn.com.

In what looked like a competitive bout on paper proved to be a total mismatch in the ring as former world champion Kendall Holt needed less then two rounds to pound out Tim Coleman at the Morango Casino & Resort in Cabazon, California.

Holt dropped Coleman in round one with a perfect left hook to the body. Holt was deliberate in dropping Coleman three more times in round two first with a right hand. After that Coleman looked like he wanted to be anywhere except in the ring with Holt as he was dropped two more times with body shots before his corner mercifully stopped the bout at 2:23 of round two.

Holt of Paterson, NJ is now 28-5 with sixteen knockouts. Colemna, 143 lbs of Las Vegas is now 19-3-1

Abraham Lopez scored an eight round unanimous decision over Gabriel Tolmajyan in a Super Featherweight bout.

Although Tolmajyan fought very well early by being more active moving up and down on Lopez. Lopez pushed the action late but he already had an insurmountable lead on the cards which didint seem to be the case as Tolmajyan deserved better.

Lopez, 127 lbs of Le Puente, CA won by scores of 79-73, 78074 and 78-74 and is now 17-0. Tolmajyan is now 12-2-1.

Roman Morales remained perfect with a six round unanimous decision over Ruffino Serrano in a Super Bantamweight bout.

Morales dropped Serrano with body work in round five and was never challenged in the bout as he won by scores of 60-53, 59-54 and 59-54.

Morales, 122 lbs of San Ardo, CA is now 10-0. Serrano, 121 lbs of Santa Maria, CA is now 12-4.
