NEW YORK (July 15, 2022)–TONIGHT at The Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, California, undefeated heavyweight Stephan Shaw will be back in action as he takes on Bernardo Marquez in a bout scheduled for eight-rounds.
Shaw, 29 years-old of Saint Louis, Missouri boasts an impressive mark of 16-0 with 12 knockouts.
Shaw, who is managed by Split-T Management is a nine-year professional who has wins over Danny Kelly (9-2-1), Jonny Rice (4-1-1), Donovan Dennis (12-3), Willie Jake Jr. (8-2-1), Gregory Corbin (15-2), Lyubomyr Pinchuk (12-1-1) and his bout when Shaw stopped former amateur champion Joey Dawejko in eight-rounds on January 29th in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Marquez of Imperial Valley, California has a very respectable record of 14-4-1 with 10 knockouts.
Marquez, 28, is a seven year pro, has wins over Oswaldo Ortega (1-0) & Daniel Arambuka (3-0). Marquez has won six-straight fights. In his latest outing, Marquez stopped Ernesto Zamora in the second round on October 2, 2021 in Sonora, Mexico.

“I started camp in Las Vegas and got in great shape before I made the move to Miami where I reunited with my original coach Orlando Cuellar. For the last several weeks I’ve been training with Cuellar, putting in the proper work to get ready for my fight with Gary Antuanne Russell. I felt I needed to get back to my roots when I first turned pro, so I brought back my first coach, and everything has been great since Cuellar and I got back together. This training camp has been incredible, and I’ll be at my absolute best on fight night.”
On his upcoming fight with Gary Antuanne Russell:
“It’s no secret that I’ll be in the most dangerous fight of my career when I step in the ring with Gary Antuanne Russell. He’s knocked out every opponent he’s faced, so I’m well aware of his power. I believe the work I’ve put in with Cuellar is going to be the difference in me winning this fight. I’m sitting on my punches more and he will have to be wary of my power. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, don’t be surprised if I knock him out.”
On what a win will do for his career:

DONNIE NIETES EYES NEW WORLD TITLE BID AFTER ‘FRUSTRATING’ KAZUTO IOKA DEFEAT
LOS ANGELES, JULY 15 – Donnie Nietes will shake off the disappointment of his world title defeat to Kazuto Ioka and rebuild towards another shot at the super flyweight crown.
Nietes was trying to reclaim the WBO world junior bantamweight title in Tokyo on Wednesday night but was defeated on the scorecards, with all three ringside judges awarding the fight to Ioka.
Ioka was given the win with scores of 120-108, 118-110 and 117-111 after 12 rounds at the Ota-City Gymnasium, in what was a rematch of 2018’s clash between the pair, which was won by Nietes.
The Filipino hero, 40, says he could have no complaints about the result but was left frustrated that Ioka, who had promised to be ‘aggressive’, was not prepared to stand and trade punches more often.
Nietes, a former four-weight world champion, still has plenty left in the tank and plans to work his back into title contention as soon as possible to add another chapter to his storied career.
“I lost the fight on points, and I felt that Ioka did not want to try and deliver a knockout win for his fans and was just happy to win the fight on the scorecards,”Nietes told Probellum.com
“I was not able to put as much pressure on Ioka as I would have liked. I was waiting for Ioka to move in and throw his shots, so that I could hit him with my big counters, but it didn’t happen often enough.
“I was defeated but, without question, I can still fight for word titles again.”
Nietes was not only bidding to win back the WBO title he vacated but also to join an exclusive list of fighters who have won world titles in their 40s.
Against Ioka, the man known as ‘Ahas’ showed flashes of the quality that has seen him win titles at four weights, and despite the set-back he still believes he can become world champion again.
“There is no doubt in my mind that I can challenge once again, and I see myself probably having one or two more fights at world level before I hang up my gloves inside the ring,” Nietes added.

TROY WILLIAMSON URGES JOSH KELLY TO AGREE TO ‘HUGE’ BRITISH TITLE FIGHT
LONDON, JULY 15 – Troy Williamson has told Josh Kelly to agree to a mouth-watering British title showdown instead of chasing “easy” fights like his rivals have.
The British Boxing Board of Control have ordered Williamson to defend his super welterweight crown against Kelly, after James Metcalf pulled out of a fight with the champion.
Bids to promote the fight must be submitted by August 10.
Williamson, from Darlington, and Sunderland’s Kelly could now clash in a “huge” fight for the North East of England and ‘Trojan’ – one of British’s boxing most exciting fighters – hopes his rival doesn’t try and avoid him.
“It’s a great fight, especially for the North East,” Williamson told Probellum.com.
“I’ve known Josh since our amateur days and we are friends outside of the ring, but that will have to be put to one side if we fight.
“He’s got all the talent in the world and a big following, so this would be a huge occasion. I posted on social media after hearing the news and everybody is already getting excited for this fight.
“I just hope Josh takes the fight and isn’t like all the others who just want easy fights.”
But Williamson has already warned Kelly about what lies in store for him if the fight happens.
“I’m a proven 12 round fighter who is strong at the weight,” said the British champ.
“And as everyone has seen, I get stronger as the fight goes on. I am a lot stronger and fitter than Josh and that will tell over the distance.”
“He’s said that fighting me for the British title is a backwards step but I don’t blame Eddie Hearn [his promoter] for not wanting to put him in with me, I’ve already stopped his other super welterweight fighter, Ted Cheeseman, and I would have done the same to Metcalf.”

TULSA, OK (July 14, 2022) — Two former world champions are set for an Oklahoma showdown, as Jose “Sniper” Pedraza will battle Richard “RC” Commey in the 10-round junior welterweight main event Saturday, Aug. 27, at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa.
In the 10-round heavyweight co-feature, the fighting pride of Toledo, Ohio, undefeated puncher Jared “The Real Big Baby” Anderson, returns to action against veteran Miljan Rovcanin.
Promoted by Top Rank, in association with DiBella Entertainment, Pedraza-Commey and Anderson-Rovcanin will be broadcast live on ESPN, ESPN Deportes and ESPN+ at 10:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. PT.
“The junior welterweight division is talent-rich, and the winner of Pedraza-Commey is in line for a massive fight,” said Top Rank chairman Bob Arum. “We are thrilled to see Jared Anderson back in action. He is the world’s best young heavyweight, and fans will have another opportunity to see a future superstar.”
Pedraza (29-4, 14 KOs), from Cidra, Puerto Rico, is a two-weight world champion who has fought many of this generation’s top fighters since capturing the IBF junior lightweight crown in June 2015. He moved up to the junior welterweight ranks in 2019, rebounding from a loss to Jose Zepeda to author victories over Mikkel LesPierre, 2008 U.S. Olympian Javier Molina, and the previously unbeaten Julian Rodriguez. Pedraza’s momentum was halted in March when he dropped a tightly contested decision to former unified world champion Jose Ramirez.
Pedraza said, “August 27 will definitely be a high-stakes battle between two world-class fighters. We are both coming to get back on the winning path. That’s the perfect recipe for a great fight. I know that a convincing victory against an opponent of Commey’s caliber will put me back in contention to capture that coveted world title opportunity. Despite what happened in my last fight, I still have my sights set on being crowned world champion at 140 pounds. I’m still chasing my goal of becoming a three-division world champion.”
Commey (30-4, 27 KOs), one of Ghana’s most accomplished fighters, captured the IBF lightweight world title in February 2019 with a second-round stoppage over Isa Chaniev. Since losing his title to Teofimo Lopez that December, Commey knocked out Jackson Marinez in six rounds and lost a decision to pound-for-pound legend Vasiliy “Loma” Lomachenko. After 34 fights campaigning as a lightweight, Commey now moves up to 140 pounds in hopes of winning a second world title.
“I am grateful to DiBella Entertainment and Top Rank to be fighting on ESPN as I begin my quest to become a two-weight world champion,” Commey said. “Pedraza is a gentleman and a great champion, and I will have to be at my best to earn the victory.”
Anderson (11-0, 11 KOs) had a breakthrough 2021, securing four devastating knockouts culminating in December’s second-round blitzing of Oleksandr Teslenko. He suffered a hand injury in training, which postponed his 2022 debut. Anderson, a 6’4, 240-pound former U.S. amateur champion, hopes to continue his knockout momentum against Rovcanin (24-2, 16 KOs). The Serbian veteran has won five consecutive bouts since a stoppage loss to undefeated contender Agit Kabayel.
Anderson said, “I am 100 percent healthy and more than ready to get back in the ring. I’m creating a legacy for my last name and growing as a fighter with every fight. Tune in on August 27 because ‘The Real Big Baby’ is back!”
The undercard — streaming exclusively on ESPN+ — is scheduled to include the return of heavyweight puncher Efe Ajagba (15-1, 12 KOs) in an eight-rounder against Hungary’s Jozsef Darmos (14-4-3, 10 KOs). Ajagba, a 2016 Nigerian Olympian, has not fought since last October’s defeat to Cuban star Frank Sanchez on the Tyson Fury-Deontay Wilder III undercard. Injuries delayed Ajagba’s return, and he’s looking to reclaim his status as one of the division’s rising talents.
In other undercard action:
Tokyo 2020 U.S. Olympian Tiger Johnson (4-0, 3 KOs), from Cleveland, Ohio, steps up in class against Harry Gigliotti (8-3, 3 KOs) in a six-round junior welterweight scrap. Johnson, at 23 years old, is one of the sport’s brightest young talents. He fought at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa in January and shut out the previously undefeated Xavier Madrid.
Tulsa native Trey Lippe Morrison (18-1, 17 KOs), who lost his undefeated record in his last bout, is scheduled to return in an eight-round heavyweight fight.
Standout junior welterweight prospect Kelvin Davis (5-0, 4 KOs) steps up in a six-rounder against Sebastian Gabriel Chaves (5-4, 2 KOs).

THE 14-0 CRUISERWEIGHT star and Boxxer Tournament winner Ellis Zorro has signed a promotional agreement with Frank Warren and Queensberry.
The 29-year-old is trained and managed by Martin Bowers from the Peacock Gym in Epping alongside now promotional teammates Denzel Bentley, Chris Bourke and Louie Lynn.
A jeweller by trade, Zorro entered the tournament staged in May up in Manchester and cruised to success, beating James Farrell, Jamie Smith and Ricky Reeves via unanimous decisions.
He now becomes the most experienced member of the Queensberry cruiserweights, which includes Arnold Obodai, Aloys Junior and Natty Ngwenya.
Zorro believes his tournament triumph paved the way for a union with the Hall of Fame promoter.
“That is the benefit of these tournaments,” Zorro considered. “Sky were hosting it but, going forward, Frank is going to be taking care of my career anyway. It is all good.
“I went in to see Frank and he congratulated me on my performance in the tournament and offered me a contract going forward. Frank will be handling my career and I am over the moon with that.
“When I came here to the Peacock at 9-0 it was what I wanted to happen kind of straight away but obviously you’ve got to, not so much prove yourself to Frank, but now I have got something he can sell. I will always be the Boxxer tournament winner, I am now 14-0, No.10 on Boxrec and I will be fighting for international titles moving forward.
“I believe I have got a WBC Silver title shot in September, so it is all good.”
The punching jeweller Zorro was fittingly fitted out in a golden robe after winning the final and it was a competition he was convinced all along he would emerge victorious.
“I was super, super confident. I knew that with the sparring I had been getting with the likes of Dan Azeez who, even though he is a light heavyweight, is really, really strong. I had Craig Richards, I had Denzel for his experience, even though he is a bit lighter. Then I had sparring against heavyweights, so I just feel I ticked every box.
“At the time I was 11-0 and I didn’t have a contract with anybody. I wasn’t stagnant, but I’d just had two fights with Martin since being at the Peacock and one of them was a rematch against Ossie Jervier.
“I was kind of struggling with some direction but now, in the space of one weekend, it accelerated everything for me.
“It feels like it was meant to be and, as Martin is always saying, everybody gets a chance in boxing, you just have to be patient and be ready. When the call came, we were ready.”
Frank Warren added on his cruiserweight recruit: “I am delighted to sign Ellis and he was clearly the class act of the tournament. We have known about him for some time now through our strong relationship with Martin and this is perfect timing, with Ellis having increased his stock with three strong performances.
“There won’t be any delays now, we will put Ellis straight into title contention and really get his career firing on all cylinders.”

Chaney (21-1, 14 KOs) returns to his home state August 20 after signing a promotional agreement with New England’s top promotion, joining forces with promoter Jimmy Burchfield Sr. Born in Baltimore, Chaney relocated to Connecticut as a youth and initially put his talents to use on the basketball court at the University of New Haven.
Working with renowned trainer Stephen “Breadman” Edwards, Chaney climbed the ladder quickly among heavyweights after making his pro debut at the age of 28, winning his first 21 fights. In 2019, he made headlines on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights with a sensational win over Joel Caudle, knocking his opponent out of the ring in the first round of their scheduled eight-round showdown. Later that year, he captured the vacant WBC USNBC Silver heavyweight title with a knockout win over Nick Jones.
With the burning desire to win a world title, Chaney kept busy during the pandemic, too, scoring two more knockouts in 2020 and opening 2021 with a knockout win over 18-fight veteran Shawndell Terell Winters in Worcester. In his most recent fight in December, Chaney fought 10 hard rounds with fellow unbeaten heavyweight George Arias in New York City.
His new teammate, Cusumano (20-4, 18 KOs), is on a similar path. The heavy-handed Sicilian bounced back in June with a first-round knockout win over Irineu Costa Junior in Rhode Island, earning career win No. 20 and his 10th overall under CES’ guidance since signing with Burchfield in 2017. Cusumano has stopped his opponent in each of his last 14 wins dating back to 2014 and remains on the sport’s hardest punchers in the heavyweight division.
Vincent’s return to the ring brings additional star power to Summer Heat. NICK LOOKS BACK ON DEMOLITION BALL
NICK BALL WON plenty of plaudits when he returned home to Liverpool after announcing himself on the big stage last time out in April.
After all, the pint-sized featherweight delivered a big contender for performance of the night at Wembley Stadium in front of tens of thousands of people and probably millions watching around the world.
The far more seasoned Isaac Lowe was brutally assaulted by the Scouse scrapper and was finally spared any further punishment in round six after being dumped to the canvas in the second.
The win took Ball’s record to 15-0 and, more importantly, saw him win a first major belt with the WBC Silver title now a prized possession in the Ball household.
On Saturday he now makes a first defence of his title against the Namibian Nathanael Kakololo, live on BT Sport.
He was originally scheduled to challenge for the vacant British title against the also unbeaten Nathaniel Collins before the Scottish talent ruled himself out with a hand injury.
There is no more basking in his Wembley glory for Ball.
“In the first couple of weeks everyone was on me,” he recalled. “Everyone was made up for me but then it does die down and you are back to normal.
“Nothing has changed for me though, it has just made me train even harder, to be honest, and focus more because I have got something to lose now with the title and I don’t want to lose that.
“Everyone does seem to know who I am now. I’ve enjoyed it and it’s been alright but you can’t switch off and you’ve got to stay focused. I’ve appreciated all the support.
“It will take some topping and you’re not getting any bigger than that. Anfield would be good for a world title but Wembley will take some beating.”
Should he overcome Kakololo, whether the British title shot against Collins comes next remains to be seen, but Ball himself questioned the desire of the unbeaten Commonwealth champion to share a ring with him.
“I don’t know anything about it at the moment and I will fight whoever is put in front of me. He had his chance to fight and he pulled out with a sore hand. If that was me, I would get in the ring with one hand working and I have done. There are no excuses, if you’ve got a fight you get in and fight, especially for the British title.
“He didn’t want the fight with me and he hopes I will be moving on after this. I will fight for it if Frank wants me to and having the British title would be great. I would make him fight me for it.”
HAMZAH SHEERAZ DEFENDS fights for the vacant WBC Silver middleweight title against Francisco Emanuel Torres on July 2 at London’s Copper Box Arena. The British, Commonwealth and IBF European super middleweight titles will be on the line when Lennox Clarke and Mark Heffron meet in what should be a blockbuster battle between two big punchers. A recent star at Wembley Stadium, Nick Ball will make a defence of his WBC Silver featherweight title against the Namibian Nathanael Kakololo, while Dennis McCann fights for the vacant WBC International Silver featherweight title against James Beech jr.

(July 13, 2022) — Light heavyweight contenders Michael Eifert and Adriano Sperandio will face off for the vacant IBF Intercontinental strap this Saturday, July 16, in the 10-round main event at the Maritim Hotel in Magdeburg, Germany. Undefeated Top Rank-signed junior welterweight prospect Hugo Micallef, “The Fresh Prince of Monaco,” returns in a six-rounder versus Mauro Loli.
Eifert-Sperandio, Micallef-Loli, and additional fight action will stream live and exclusively in the U.S. on ESPN+ starting at 3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT.
Eifert (10-1, 4 KOs), a 24-year-old German, turned pro in 2018 and won the first six fights of his career before dropping a majority decision to Tom Dzemski in August 2020. Nearly one year later, he turned the tables, edging Dzemski by majority decision to win the WBC and IBF youth titles. Eifert has won two fights by knockout since then, including a third-round stoppage over the previously undefeated Nils Schmidt. Sperandio (14-1, 2 KOs), from Rome, Italy, has won three straight fights since the lone loss on his ledger.
Micallef (2-0) signed with Top Rank last year and is currently the only active boxer from the Principality of Monaco. The Monte Carlo-born Micallef is one of his nation’s most popular homegrown athletes and has the support of many of Monaco’s luminaries, including F1 star Charles Leclerc. Micallef has won bouts in France and Spain since turning pro and steps up against Loli (7-3, 3 KOs), an Italian veteran who has never been stopped as a pro.

WILLIAMS AND CONWAY CLASH ON CANELO-GGG III CARD
Austin Williams will face Kieron Conway for the vacant WBA International Middleweight title on the undercard of the blockbuster trilogy clash between Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Gennadiy ‘GGG’ Golovkin at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday September 17. The event, presented by Matchroom, Canelo Promotions and GGG Promotions, will broadcast live on DAZN Pay-Per-View in the U.S. and Canada as well as around the world on DAZN (excluding Mexico, Latin America, and Kazakhstan).
Williams (11-0 9 KOs) has enjoyed two standout wins in the first half of 2022 after a welcome return to action, stopping former World title challenger Javier Maciel in six rounds in London in February, before blasting away unbeaten Chordale Booker inside the opening session of their clash for the Continental Americas title at Madison Square Garden in New York at the end of April.
‘Ammo’ stepped back through the ropes in December in Las Vegas with a second round stoppage victory over Quatavious Cash ending a nine month absence from action, and his run of three impressive KO victories sees the Houston talent sit handily at #7 in the WBA rankings ahead of his second paid outing in Sin City.
Conway (17-2-1 3 KOs) fights in Vegas for the first time in the paid ranks but is no stranger to big Canelo fight nights having faced Souleymane Cissokho in May 2021 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. ‘Too Class’ was on the wrong end of a split decision in a close run clash with the Frenchman, but the Northampton man bounced back with victory in James Metcalfe’s Liverpool backyard five months later.
“It is my honor and a dream come true to open up the Canelo vs. GGG III Pay-Per-View telecast,” said Williams. “I will deliver an unforgettable experience and capture my second consecutive title in the most sophisticated way imaginable.”

New York – July 13, 2022 – Jake “The Problem Child” Paul and Hasim Rahman Jr. didn’t waste any time expressing their dislike for each other during a heated and at times frenzied press conference on Tuesday, vowing to knock the other out ahead of their cruiserweight clash scheduled for eight rounds on Saturday, August 6live on SHOWTIME PPV (9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT) from Madison Square Garden in New York City. Tickets went on sale at 1 p.m. ET on Tuesday and can be purchased at www.msg.com. The press conference was streamed live on the SHOWTIME SPORTS YouTube channel and Jake Paul’s YouTube channel.
For the first time in his colorful and storied career, Paul (5-0, 4 KOs) will take on a full-fledged boxer in Rahman Jr., who is 12-1 with six knockouts, had around 100 amateur fights and has been trained by such greats as Emanuel Steward, Calvin Ford and now Yoel Judah.
Just four months after her epic match with Katie Taylor at Madison Square Garden, Brooklyn’s seven-divisionworld champion Amanda “Real Deal” Serrano will return to the same venue and to her natural weight to defend her Featherweight World Titles against the hard-hitting Argentine Brenda “La Pumita” Carabajal co-headlining the event on August 6.
Serrano was on hand on Tuesday and said she was looking forward to fighting at 126 pounds after she fought Taylor in April at 135. Rounding out the SHOWTIME PPV undercard are separate bouts involving two of the sport’s most exciting prospects — unbeaten knockout artist Brandun Lee (25-0, 22 KOs) and quick-fisted Ashton Sylve (7-0, 7 KOs).
The press conference was hosted by the combat sports expert Ariel Helwani, who guided the heated back-and-forth discussion between Paul and Rahman Jr. Their animosity stems from sparring sessions they held before Paul’s first two fights in 2020 and who got the upper hand in that action. Rahman claims he only used one hand in the sparring in an effort to work with him. Paul referenced leaked footage of their sparring in which Paul appears to land a number of heavy blows to demonstrate the action was heated and not at all controlled. Rahman Jr. claims the footage was edited to make Paul look good.
The subject of Paul’s boxing resume also came up with Rahman stating that Paul built his career off of pummeling former MMA and NBA athletes. “That’s why your next on the list,” Paul responded. “That’s why I’m fighting you.” Hasim Jr. was flanked on the dais by his famous father, the former two-time heavyweight champion, Hasim Sr., who rose to prominence knocking out Lennox Lewis in 2001 in South Africa to become the unified titleholder. Paul referenced Rahman Sr., saying he wouldn’t be able to fight his son’s battle on August 6.
“You’re not in the ring sir,” Paul said. “And that’s what your son doesn’t understand. He thinks he’s you and that’s his biggest mistake and on August 6 I’m ending the legacy that your whole family has.”

“This is 100 percent a tougher fight (than facing Tommy Fury). This is what I do. I take hard challenges and challenge myself more and more and increase the level of opposition and give the fans what they want. People say fight a real boxer – here we go. There’s no reason that I should win this but I’m proving to the world and proving to the kids out there that if you truly put your mind to something and you’re dedicated, then you will win.”
