ANAHEIM, CA (June 9, 2022) – The pride of Tijuana, undefeated Mexican super-star Jaime Munguia (39-0, 31 KOs), and his opponent, former world title challenger, Jimmy “Kilrain” Kelly (26-2, 10 KOs) of Manchester, UK hosted their final press conference today. The fighters will face off at Anaheim’s Honda Center in a 12-round super middleweight fight on Saturday, June 11, live on DAZN worldwide, excluding Mexico.
Fighters feature on the DAZN undercard Oscar Duarte (21-1-1, 17 KOs) of Chihuahua, Mexico, and his opponent, Mark Bernaldez (23-5, 17 KOs) of Cotabato, Philippines, were also in attendance to talk about their upcoming 10-round super lightweight fight. Additionally, Evan Sanchez (11-0, 6 KOs) of Parlier, CA, and IBF Minimumweight World Champion, Yokasta Valle (24-2, 9 KOs) of San Jose, Costa Rica, also participated in the festivities to promote their upcoming events.
To watch the whole stream, including a press conference with fighters on The Golden Boy Fight Night: Munguia vs. Kelly Prelims: Japhethlee Llamido (7-0, 3 KOs), Alejandro “Pin-Pon” Reyes (7-0, 3KOs), and Carlos Ocampo (33-1, 21 KOs), click HERE.
JAIME MUNGUIA, FORMER WORLD CHAMPION, AND UNDEFEATED CONTENDER:
“I feel excited to be back in Anaheim. I want to thank everyone for being here. I am happy with my training camp. I think we are well prepared, and we will show it off this Saturday.”
“There have been some opportunities that didn’t happen; let’s hope that they do happen in the future. Jimmy Kelly is a great fighter, he has all my respect, but I think I will raise my hands in victory on Saturday.”
“I moved to Big Bear for more sparring opportunities, mostly due to my size. There is more variety and available fighters [to go spar in Big Bear], so it helps me more. It’s beautiful, a great place to train, and we are there 100% to work.”
JIMMY KELLY, FORMER WORLD TITLE CHALLENGER:
“At the end of the day, it’s me in the ring. I’ve been to Australia and got robbed, and I came back and beat Kanat Islam. I got an opportunity here, and I’m looking forward to it. I’m going up against one of the best, and I’m confident I will get the job done. I also want one of those Rolexes.”
“I’ve been at a good level. My camp was great, a little short, but I was in preparation anyways. I’m looking forward to the fight.”
“[Other fighters] probably don’t give me a chance because I’m quiet; I keep things to myself. I’m a family man at first. That’s my most important job. It’s my daughter’s birthday on the day of the fight. So I’m going to do it for her. I’m not a flashy person and don’t have too much on my name, but I come to fight. I’m going to be fighting my ass off.”
OSCAR DUARTE, SUPER LIGHTWEIGHT CONTENDER:
“I am very excited. I am ready to win this Saturday. I am happy to be back in [Southern California]; it’s been about three years since I fought here last. I am very motivated, well prepared, and hungry for victory. I will dedicate this fight to all the Mexican fans to show them who Oscar Duarte is.”
YOKASTA VALLE, IBF MINIMUMWEIGHT WORLD CHAMPION:
“I feel very excited to fight in a Munguia undercard. It’s a dream come true to be fighting here in Anaheim. I won’t let you guys down! I’m going to defend my title for the fifth time. First, I want to defend my title, then I would like to unify, and you guys know who has the belts. I want to fight all the champions in my weight.
EVAN SANCHEZ, SUPER WELTERWEIGHT PROSPECT:
“I feel honored. This is my fourth time opening for DAZN on a Golden Boy card. I feel ready. This training camp was amazing. I fixed many things I did wrong in my last fight and am ready to perform. I always put on a show. I have been progressing and learning. I’m learning from every fight.”
OSCAR DE LA HOYA, CHAIRMAN AND CEO, GOLDEN BOY:
“It’s going to be an entertaining fight. I’ve been studying Kelly for a while now. He’s the real deal. He’s coming back from an amazing win, and I strongly feel that when you’re from the hotbed of boxing overseas in the UK. You have a chip on your shoulder. Whenever Jamie Munguia fights, it is going to be an action-packed fight. It’s a great fight on paper, and once the bell rings, it will be a war.”
“In terms of Charlo, we were ready to make the fight. We were ready to do whatever it took to give Jaime Munguia the fight he wants, and everybody has been asking for. One thing about Charlo and the whole PBC stable is that they hide behind Al Haymon; that’s the bottom line. We don’t want to make ordinary fights; we want to make the best fights. I hope Charlo grows some balls and tells his promoter to fight the very best. These are the fights boxing needs and the fights the fans deserve.”
“I’m not going to exclude our partner DAZN from any type of negotiation. There’s always room for negotiation. Meet us halfway; we can walk across the street; we can meet in the middle of the street. There is no protection; Mungia is ready for anyone. They’re hiding behind Al Haymon, and that’s the bottom line. If the fighters really want to fight, they have to stop saying, ‘talk to my promoter/manager.’ The fighters have a voice, and they need to use it.”
FERNANDO BELTRAN, CEO ZANFER BOXING & JAIME MUNGUIA’S CO-PROMOTER:
“It’s a real honor to be here and co-promote another great event with Golden Boy. I think Jaime is one of the best fighters in the world and absolutely is the one fighter representing Mexico right now.”
“The last fight [at the Honda Center] was very exciting, very electric, and this fight is going to be sensational. It will be a great party, a great fiesta for all the Mexican and Mexican-American boxing fans. I really believe it’s going to be a night to remember.”
Tickets for Munguia vs. Kelly are on sale now and are priced at $150, $100, $50, and $25 not including applicable service charges. Tickets will be available for purchase at Ticketmaster.com, HondaCenter.com or GoldenBoyPromotions.com. Remaining tickets will go on sale Monday, May 23 at 10:00 a.m. at the Honda Center Box Office.

Valle vs. Villalobos is a 10-round fight for the IBF Minimumweight World Championship, presented by Golden Boy in association with MarvNation. The event is sponsored by Hennessy “Never Stop. FINAL QUOTES:
“I’m very honored to be fighting on such a big weekend on SHOWTIME. This is my first main event and the toughest fight of my pro career so I’m very prepared and I will show just how prepared I am.
“It hasn’t been that hard for me to switch styles and transition from the amateurs to the pros. But I understand that the opponents will get better, but so far up until this point there’s not a big difference.
“I’m looking at my opponent as just another fighter. I’m not looking at him as a special fighter. I do respect him as a fighter. I do understand he’s a tough guy, never been knocked down, but I look at any fight in the world as just another fight. I’m just getting ready to fight. I’m only looking forward to the world championship fight and that’s what I’m concentrated on. This to me is just another fight.
“If the knockout comes it comes but I’m not chasing it. I never chased it in the amateurs or the pros. It’s just when I land on people they get hurt. If I wanted to, I could drop anyone with a punch, a straight right, left, a body shot, in sparring people go down from jabs, body shots. I’m not looking for it, but if the punch lands clean, it doesn’t matter what punch it is. I’m 250 pounds and whatever I touch it will be painful.
“My father’s dream and my dream was for me to become an Olympic champion. When I went to the Olympics the first time in 2016, I was young. My dad passed away a little bit earlier than the Olympics in 2016, so I knew I wasn’t going to leave amateur boxing without Olympic gold. It was my dream and it was my father’s dream.”
Jack Mulowayi
“I know I have the tools to beat Jalolov and looking at him I know he’s an Olympic champion, but he never had an opponent like me. He never faced someone who’s as hungry and who can take a punch and can give a punch back and come forward the whole time. So we’re going to see on Friday what he’s all about. I think I have more experience in the heavyweight ranks than him, and I believe I have more strength and power than him and better fitness. It’s going to be a great fight.
“This is a big opportunity to show the American fans what I’m all about. In the Frank Sanchez fight (UD loss in 2019), I had way less experience than I have now. I got a new trainer (Ivan Filipovi?) and we’ve been working and we’ve been working on a lot of things and I’ve proven that I’m a different fighter now than I was back then. Now I’m much more of an aggressive fighter and smarter when I fight.
“I’ve always been a basketball fan and a big Michael Jordan fan. My dream was to get into the NBA, so I came to the United States and played college basketball. I even wanted to be an NBA draft pick but I signed with a manager who advised me to play overseas so I played in Italy, Belgium, France. I had a good basketball career, but I got into a car accident and injured my left knee badly so I had to say goodbye to basketball. I gained a lot of weight, so I started boxing to lose weight and I was starting to build muscle that I didn’t have so I tried it out and I loved it. It’s my last chance to make it in sports so I went for it.”
George Arias
“This fight is just like most of my other fights. I always look at it as every guy that I’m fighting is a world championship fighter. I don’t ever look at anybody and treat them as a stepping-stone. I’ve always gotten ready the right way and taken them very seriously because everybody who gets in front of me is somebody that’s trying to disrupt my journey. I take it seriously and I’m always very grateful for every opportunity.
“To be honest, I can’t think that this fight card being during Hall of Fame weekend will be a factor for me. Once I’m in the locker room and I’m getting wrapped up, this is all I can think about. It’s the only thing. Now, it is very nice that the Hall of Fame is going on at the same weekend but as far as I’m concerned, I’m just thinking that I’m going up against a monster and I can’t afford to glamorize what possible meaning the weekend might have in store for other people. For me, it’s a war.
“I’ve studied guys before, and then when I fight them, they’re nothing like what I studied. So I’ve gotten used to not trying to put people in a box based on their previous fights. So I think it will take a round or two of me seeing him in person before I figure him out.
“One thing that has helped me improve is that I had to admit to myself, ‘I may not be the biggest puncher.’ So I can’t stand toe-to-toe with guys thinking that I’m going to get one big punch on them. I believe that by understanding that my footwork, my jab and my boxing is really my forte and would allow me to establish myself more and more. The biggest learning experience has been that I’m not a knockout puncher as much as I am a boxer and if I’m going to hurt you, it will probably be in the later rounds.”
Alante Green
“When I heard about the change in opponents, I said, ‘Bring it on.’ I trained hard for this fight so I’m ready for this opportunity. Camp went really well. I’ve been getting great sparring. I’m in great shape so it really hasn’t been a change for me at all. I’ve fought on the same card as Arias before, and I don’t believe that he’s anything that I haven’t seen before.
“We’ll see how it goes after I get this win whether or not I stay at heavyweight. If it makes sense, then yes, we’ll take every opportunity. That’s always been the plan. After I win a title at cruiserweight, go back up to heavyweight. I think that if it makes sense, I’ll definitely stay at heavyweight. But for right now, I’m really a cruiserweight. That’s what I prefer to be. I look leaner. I’m faster and stronger than all of my opponents.
“I didn’t start boxing until I was 18. Before boxing, I played football. When I was in high school, I had a boxing coach come in and we did a couple classes. After I graduated, I finally had the time and started training. It’s been up ever since then.
“When I switch up to southpaw, it really just happens naturally. I’m a big Terence Crawford fan, so I saw him doing it. I always tried it in sparring and in training. I’m pretty comfortable on both sides.”
Tyler Tomlin
“There’s always pressure to leave a lasting impression. You want to get in there and not just get the win, but leave people with an image that will last and put you in the conversation with a lot of these other top prospects. Obviously, we want to get the win and stick to the game plan, but if I see an opportunity to dazzle, I’m going to do that.
“This is my first TV fight but I’ve fought on some undercards in Vegas. But this is my first time on a big show with the big cameras and the big crowds. I’m used to the big crowds because I do have such a big fan base at home. But you add TV to it and that adds a little bit of pressure. But I’m used to it and I’m just going to get in there and take it like another day at the office for me.
“There are some things I do similar [to Caleb Plant]. Some of the outside work, some of the defense stuff. But he’s more of a slick boxer, which I’m working on myself trying to work on being more of. I’m still a young guy and working to add that. I’m still more of a pressure fighter just because my body isn’t as long and slick as Caleb’s is. When I was young, I was just a puncher and come-forward, really reactive fighter. But as I get older, and as the competition gets better, I’m going to have to be better at easing my mind and get my ring IQ up and putting things together.
“I think Thonson is my toughest test to date, and it’s a test I welcome. My prediction is a fifth, sixth-round TKO. That’s how I see it playing out in my head. If I have to go the eight rounds and get the win that way, I’m ready for that. But if I can get him out of there, I want to.
“I’m just a white kid from Tennessee who’s supposed to be this pretty boy. I’ve heard it all, ‘He’s not that good, he’s not all that.’ I’ve always had that chip on my shoulder. When I get in there I plan to go in and prove myself. I’ve said that a lot in interviews – that I am for real and I’m not just a pretender and a pretty face who can get in front of the camera and talk well. I’m a fighter.”
Chann Thonson
“There was a time before my last fight that a sensation came over me and I realized that I had lost my love for boxing. But after I won, I was able to regain that fire and know that that feeling should be with me all the time, which is the way I am feeling right now. So it’s amazing.
“All due respect, but there’s nothing specific about my opponent that I am worried about. I believe I am the superior fighter. We will see what kind of power he has during the fight. I believe I’ll be able to break him down, to be honest
“I’m expecting a chess match. Once he realizes he can’t win a chess match against me, he will know he has to fight and that will just put him in deeper trouble.
“He’s going to have to have a lucky shot to win, but at the same time I’m prepared to take a shot. I don’t see him having an advantage at all. As long as I do what I need to do then the fight should heavily fall into my favor.”

| Hiroto Kyoguchi is excited by the new wave of boxing fans in Japan and is ready to wow them as he defends his WBA Super and Ring Magazine World Light-Flyweight titles against Esteban Bermudez tomorrow night (Friday June 10) at Dome Alcalde in Guadalajara, Mexico, live worldwide on DAZN.
TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW STARTING AT $150 PESOS FROM STAGEFRONT.COM Kyoguchi (15-0 10 KOs) defends his belts for the fourth time and makes a welcome return to the ring after his entertaining battle with the pocket rocket Axel Aragon Vega in Dallas in March 2021 came to an end when the challenger was forced to quit the bout with a hand injury in the fifth round. The Japanese, who previously defended the titles in successive points wins over Tanawat Nakoon and Tetsuya Hisada in June and October of 2020 in his homeland, fights in Mexico for the first time in the paid ranks and does so against a hungry contender in Bermudez (14-3-2 10 KOs) , who holds the WBA Regular title after handing a first career defeat to defending champion Carlos Canizales in stunning fashion in May 2021 – flooring the belt-holder towards the end of the sixth round before wiping him out with 23 seconds left in the session. Kyoguchi knows he faces a stiff test against the Mexican, but the 28 year old is hunting down unification battles and on the back of Naoya Inoue’s stunning KO win in his rematch against Nonito Donaire in Japan last weekend, there is no better time for ‘Mad Boy’ to make a big statement and win the hearts of the new wave of fans back home. “Boxing is getting more popular in Japan and a lot of new fans are coming to the sport,” said Kyoguchi. “That’s great for me as I think I am exciting to watch, and they will like me. I want to stay at Light-Flyweight as there are still things I want to do, but in the future, I may move up. “I became champion because I am a very strong fighter, so I want to win against Bermudez, I’ve watched his videos and he’s a very aggressive fighter and a tough man. I think my style is a little Mexican too, so it will be an exciting fight for the fans, I think that they will enjoy it. The lighter weighs have more speed, and all the best fighters have great techniques so it’s just as exciting to watch as the heavier weights. “The relationship started with Eddy Reynoso in December 2020, we got in contact through social media. I am extremely influenced by him. I like the way that Canelo fights and I respect him so much, it’s an honor to be a part of the team. “I had jet lag, but I adjusted well thanks to all the support that I have with me, training has been great for this fight. I am away and it’s his territory but if I win it is great for me.” Kyoguchi’s clash with Bermudez tops a stacked night of action with more World title action on deck as Mayerlin Rivas (16-4-2 10 KOs) defends her WBA World Super-Bantamweight title against Isis Vargas Perez (8-5 3 KOs).Jorge Castaneda (15-1 11 KOs) and Eduardo Hernandez (31-1 28 KOs) meet for the WBC International Super-Featherweight title and must-watch Super-Middleweight Diego Pacheco (14-0 11 KOs) ticks off another major milestone as he stretches his legs over the ten round distance for the first time against Raul Ortega (10-2 7 KOs). Anthony Herrera (2-0 2 KOs) faces Kennyn Valenzuela (5-2 4 KOs) in his first six rounder, Aaron Aponte fights for the sixth time in the paid ranks against Leo Leon Martinez (2-1 2 KOs) and Jesus ‘Panterita’ Martinez makes his professional debut against Daniel Nunez Gomez (1-1). |

NEW YORK (June 9, 2022) — “The Chosen One” is back home. NABO super middleweight champion Edgar Berlanga takes center stage Saturday evening against two-time title challenge Alexis Angulo in the 10-round main eventat Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden. Berlanga, born in Brooklyn and whose family hails from Puerto Rico, takes the top spot on the eve of New York’s Puerto Rican Day Parade. A popular ticket-seller with fearsome knockout power, Berlanga (19-0, 16 KOs) hopes a win over the crafty Colombian gets him closer to a world title shot.
The winner of this fight will be the first recipient of Madison Square Garden’s Miguel Cotto Trophy. Puerto Rican icon Cotto, who is being inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame this weekend, headlined five MSG fight nights on the eve of the Puerto Rican Day Parade. Four-division world champion Cotto, from Caguas, will be ringside Saturday night.
In the eight-round co-feature of this all-Puerto Rican card, Henry Lebron (15-0, 10 KOs) and Luis Lebron (18-3-1, 11 KOs) will battle for the vacant WBO Latino junior lightweight belt. This fight was elevated to the co-feature after junior middleweight sensation Xander Zayas dropped out of his bout with a viral infection.
Berlanga-Angulo and Lebron-Lebron will be broadcast live on ESPN, ESPN Deportes and ESPN+ at 11 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT.Undercard bouts will stream live and exclusively on ESPN+ (7:10 p.m. ET) and includes junior featherweight contender Carlos Caraballo (15-1, 14 KOs), junior welterweight prospect Omar Rosario (6-0, 2 KOs), comebacking featherweight Orlando Gonzalez (17-1, 10 KOs), and junior welterweight Josue “The Prodigy” Vargas (20-2, 9 KOs).
At Thursday’s press conference, this is what the fighters had to say.
Edgar Berlanga
“I’m excited. It’s Puerto Rican Day {Parade} Weekend. {The first one} since the pandemic, two years. I’ve been dreaming about this since I was a kid. I feel like I spoke it into existence. My hard work paid off and now we’re here.”
“To be honest, my team and Top Rank felt like he was the perfect opponent for Puerto Rican Day Weekend. He’s the type of fighter that comes forward. Hopefully, he does that this Saturday. He’s a tough, rugged fighter. He makes it look ugly, comes forward. He has power just like me. He’s powerful, so it’s going to be an amazing night. And I’m excited to perform on Puerto Rican Day Weekend.”
On three straight fights without a KO
“It’s part of the process. I’m young, 25 years old. What can I say? I have 16 first-round knockouts, so I didn’t really gain the experience I needed. Definitely, these last three fights, I got the experience I needed. That’s the most important thing to make yourself a real professional athlete. But not only that, at that top level, you need those rounds. You need that feeling of what it’s like to get in the eighth, 10th round, and we got that done. This Saturday, Puerto Rican Day Weekend, I’m looking for a huge victory. I’m ready to go all out.”
“A lot of people don’t understand the last two years of not having a Puerto Rican Day Weekend and actually having a fight on that weekend… I’m just looking forward to performing, exploding like I always do and bringing back the old Edgar Berlanga.”
Alexis Angulo
“I’m very thankful for the opportunity, and I’m going to take full advantage of it. We’re going to put on a good presentation for everyone.”
“I see my two losses as big lessons, and we’re going to see what kind of result we get in this fight.”
“Part of the training camp we did in Colombia, part of the training camp we did in Miami. We have been trying different training techniques and things like that, so let’s see what kind of result we get in this fight.”
Henry Lebron
“I’m very happy with this opportunity. This is my first press conference. I’m happy that it’s just before the Puerto Rican Day Parade at Madison Square Garden, and I’m here to represent with a lot of pride.”
“My last fight propelled me to do even better and to keep showing that I’m a complete fighter. It motivates me even more, and I’m going to show the same Henry Lebron for a very long time.”

| Liverpool Super-Welterweight contender James Metcalf has signed a multi-fight promotional deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing following his impressive career-best win over Kerman Lejarraga at the Bilbao Arena in Spain last month that earned him the WBA Continental crown. The former Commonwealth and WBC International Super-Welterweight Champion (23-2, 14 KOs) rejuvenated his career by outpointing hometown hero Lejarraga, a two-weight European Champion, in an excellent display of patience and boxing IQ. Metcalf’s only defeats in the professional ranks have come at the hands of Bermondsey’s Ted Cheeseman in a jaw dropping battle for the vacant British Title in Gibraltar in March 2021 and Northampton’s Kieron Conway at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool in October 2021. The son of Liverpool fight legend Shea Neary has earned back-to-back wins since teaming up with fast rising trainer Joe McNally at the renowned Rotunda ABC in Kirkdale, where he trains and fights alongside former WBO 154lbs World Champion Liam Smith. “I’m delighted to be teaming up with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom,” said Metcalf. “I was made up to get the win over Kerman Lejarraga out in Bilbao last month. I needed to get that win to set me up for what comes next in my career. I’ve rectified the mistakes and I’m looking forward to a big chapter in my career. “The win over Kerman moved me past the British level where I lost to Cheeseman and Conway. In my opinion it righted all of my wrongs. That win has pushed me on towards World Titles. Whatever they come up with, I’ll take. Everyone already knows that I’ll fight anyone, anywhere. Whatever Eddie fancies, I’ll go with him. “My father has always been a massive part of my career; he’s trained me all the way through really. It’s great having Joe McNally and Declan O’Rourke in my corner. I’ve worked with Joe in the past, so I know how it feels. I’ve got a great team around me now and I’m confident they can secure me some big fights in the Super-Welterweight division.” “The Lejarraga win was a great performance from JJ on away territory,” said Matchroom Sport Chairman Eddie Hearn. “It was a very disciplined and intelligent performance from JJ and the team. They put the perfect game plan in place to get the win. There’s nothing like an away day win. He’s in the top 15 with the WBA now and we’ll look through all of the options. “JJ has suffered defeats and he’s bounced back. They’re the kind of fights that you have to be in to grow as a fighter. He jumped in with Ted Cheeseman in a Fight of the Year contender in Gibraltar and boxed Kieron Conway in a fight that was very close as well. He’s looked brilliant since he teamed up with Joe McNally and they want more big fights. “He deserves a big fight next. He deserves his big night and big money. He wants the big one and as much money as possible out of the game. Every fighter wants that. People that have continuously stepped up and taken the challenges put in front of them deserve to get the big opportunities when they win.” You can follow JJ’s journey on Twitter: @kidshamrock88 and Instagram: kidshamrock88 |
THE BRITISH TITLE fighters for Saturday night’s double-header in Telford met this afternoon to face the media in the final press conference ahead of the show, which will be screened live on BT Sport 1.
At the top of the bill, Telford local Liam Davies takes on the champion Marc Leach for the super bantamweight belt, while at super flyweight, Ijaz Ahmed and Kaisy Khademi will meet for a third time.
The action from the Telford International Centre will be followed by a switch to Miami, where Daniel Dubois will bid to win the WBA world heavyweight championship at the expense of the champion, Trevor Bryan.
Watch the full press conference on YouTube here.
Key quotes from the Telford headliners below:
Liam Davies
“I am super-excited, it is in my hometown and everything is there for me to pick up. So I am looking forward to the fight, I have trained hard and it is going to be a packed arena with loads of my fans there. Let’s go, I am ready to go now and counting down the time to pick the British title up. It has always been my dream to pick it up but, now I am here, it is not enough. I want to win this title and keep moving up. It is a nice belt and the best one of my collection. It will be a tough challenge, I know Marc is a good boxer so I have trained hard and I know in my head it will only bring the best out in me. The tougher the challenge I will rise to it.
“Calling him Salford-chenko is his coaches building him up and my job on Saturday is to knock that confidence out of him. From the first bell, that is what I will be doing. He has done well, to be British champion is a good achievement and I respect that, but my time is now and it is going to take more than one man, no matter what he does, to stop me getting what I want.
“It is my biggest fight to date on paper and I am ready for it.”
Marc Leach
“I am very confident and it doesn’t matter to me if I am the underdog or not, as long as I put the hours and the graft in to make sure I am fully fit. Then I will come away with that victory. It is a big confidence boost the way my coaches speak about me and people need that. Every day in the gym they are constantly building my confidence to bring the best out in me. Come fight night I will show everyone what more I have learned and come away with the victory again.
“I just turned up, make sure I am fully fit and, whoever is in that ring, I come out victorious, no matter who it is. These unbeaten prospects, some of them have easy fights, while I have been around the block and seen it all. It is satisfying to take an 0 away.
“He is good, talented and tall, but I have got the answers and on Saturday night I will show you that.”
Kaisy Khademi
“I want to thank Frank Warren and BT Sport for making this trilogy happen. We have had a great two fights, which were very entertaining and why the third fight is happening. Come Saturday, it will be another war and another great, entertaining fight for the fans. I am very confident in taking the belt, we’ve got a great plan and I have been very focused for this camp. The belt suits me and I like gold! I am not taking anything away from him, but obviously I am focused to get the win on Saturday. I am going to get that win.”
Ijaz Ahmed
“I definitely feel I won both fights and I was very disappointed in that decision being given as a draw last time. This time it is going to be easier to give a decision towards me because I will get the victory. I believe I defeated him the last time, but sometimes it is just not meant to be, but hopefully it will this time. I actually did bust him up last time and my hands were so swollen that I couldn’t see my knuckles after the amount of times I caught him with clean shots. Hopefully this time he won’t get up from one of those shots. We have seen the best of Kaisy Khademi in the last fights, he came at me in the first round, doing this macho business, then only lasted about half the round. Then he was on the back foot running away. You’ve got to look to the future sometimes and, once I’ve defeated Kaisy on Saturday, I will call out Prince Patel again and we will get that fight on.”

NEW YORK – June 9, 2022 – SHOWTIME Sports Documentary Films presents a film examining the improbable rise of one of boxing’s most guarded champions, Andre Ward, produced by Lebron James and Maverick Carter’s UNINTERRUPTED. The undefeated, five-time world champion and Olympic gold medalist reveals his untold story in a deeply personal account of his journey from a turbulent childhood in Oakland, Calif., through the pressures of world championship expectations and ultimately to his induction into the International Boxing Hall of Fame this weekend. The currently untitled film will premiere on SHOWTIME in early 2023.
“I always knew that one day I would tell my story in my own words. I’ve been waiting for the right moment and platform to do it, and the time is now,” said Ward. “I’m excited to be partnering with SHOWTIME and UNINTERRUPTED to bring this to life. Many people know what I accomplished, but they don’t know what I overcame to get to this point. I pull back the curtain on my parents’ struggles with addiction, the lure of the street life following my father’s death, and my battles with the sport of boxing itself. This film will detail how I rose above it all through my faith, determination and desire to leave my own unique legacy no matter the cost.”
In September 2017 at the age of 33, with his status as the top pound-for-pound fighter in the sport secured, the undefeated Ward shocked the sporting world when he announced his retirement from boxing. Now 38 and a father of five, Ward is reflecting on his life with newfound clarity and appreciation for his unconventional rise to greatness. Featuring interviews with longtime trainer and godfather Virgil Hunter, Andre’s wife Tiffiney Ward, as well as key figures from the sports and entertainment world, the film will examine a side of Ward that no one has ever seen before.
“The battles Andre Ward fought go way beyond the title-winning efforts he produced in the ring,” said Stephen Espinoza, President, Sports & Event Programming, Showtime Networks Inc. “Most people would crumble in front of the challenges Andre faced, but he stood tall. His story is incredible. We’re honored and thankful to him for sharing his personal journey with us, and we are proud to work with UNINTERRUPTED again on another compelling and provocative story at the intersection of human drama, sport and society.”
The documentary is directed and executive produced by Rachel Neubeck along with James, Carter, Jamal Henderson and Philip Byron of UNINTERRUPTED, the Sports Emmy® Award-winning athlete empowerment brand housed under The SpringHill Company founded by James and Carter, and co-executive produced by Matt Rissmiller.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – June 9, 2022 – Six-time Tennessee Golden Gloves champion Tyler “Short Fuse” Tomlin (13-0, 9 KOs) will make his SHOBOX: The New Generation debut when he squares off against Chann Thonson (10-0, 7 KOs) in an eight-round lightweight bout that will open the SHOBOX telecast this Friday night LIVE on SHOWTIME® (9 p.m. ET/PT) from Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, N.Y.
The night of fights are part of an unprecedented International Boxing Hall of Fame Induction Weekend in nearby Canastota, N.Y., where Olympic Gold Medalist and SHOBOX alum, Andre Ward, will be inducted during the three-year, three-class ceremony. The tripleheader telecast is promoted by DiBella Entertainment, whose owner, Lou DiBella, is a 2020 Hall of Fame inductee and being formally inducted along with the classes of 2021 and 2022.
Here is what Tomlin had to say about ahead of Friday’s showdown:
On his recent training camp:
“For this camp I traveled to Tampa Bay and got some good work with multiple pros who were pushing me hard. My father Daryl, who is my head coach, has been breaking down Thonson’s style and we have a great game plan in place. I’ve learned a lot over the past few camps and I’m feeling great going into this fight.”
On his matchup with Chann Thonson:
“Thonson is undefeated for a reason, he’s a good fighter with a lot of talent. I’m going to make it a rough and brutal fight, something he hasn’t seen yet. We both have power, but I feel mine is superior. Whatever he tries to do on fight night, I’ll have an adjustment waiting for him. It’s going to be an exciting fight, one the fans will be talking about, that I can guarantee.”
On making his SHOBOX debut:
“SHOBOX is where all the great fighters started their championship run and I want to follow in the footsteps of all the champs in the past. This is the moment in my career that I’ve be dreaming about since I was kid fighting in the amateurs. I knew one day I would be fighting on the big stage and now it’s time to seize the moment.”
On fighting during Hall of Fame weekend:
“It’s going to be an honor fighting in front of so many great Hall of Famers. It’s extra special that my promoter Lou Dibella will be getting inducted this weekend. I just want to soak it all in and be special on fight night.”
London, England – (June 9, 2022) -World cruiserweight contenders Richard Riakporhe and Fabio Turchi made their final pre-fight comments at today’s press conference in BoxPark Wembley, London ahead of their headline showdown this Saturday night in the world-famous Wembley Arena, live on Sky Sports.
Below please find quotes from today’s press conference.
RICHARD RIAKPORHE vs FABIO TURCHI
IBF World Cruiserweight Championship Eliminator
Riakporhe: “This fight is perfect for me because it sets us up for a big world title clash in my next fight, so there’s a lot to fight for”
“We aren’t taking Fabio Turchi lightly, we made sure we covered all areas in training to prepare for this fight so we can go in and deliver what we want to deliver on Saturday night. Every single fight is so important now.”
“This is what I dreamed of doing when I was young, when I first came to boxing. To see it all manifesting just like how I dreamed it is fascinating to see”
“We wanna bring explosive nights, explosive finishes, we wanna show the world how great we are. So we’re going to bring a big knockout on Saturday night”
Turchi: “I’m ready to have a battle on Saturday night. I think this is a very even fight, I have a lot of respect for Richard, so I’m hoping for a great fight. Whether it’s by KO or points, the important thing is to win the fight”
Ben Shalom on Richard Riakporhe: “Richard Riakporhe is going to be an absolutely massive star. He has everything it takes to be a big star outside the ring so now he just needs the opportunities inside the ring.
“He always finds a way to win, whether it is Deion Jumah, Tommy McCarthy or Chris Billam-Smith. This is going to be a seriously tough fight, Turchi has that knockout power so he has to be careful but this is a springboard into world title contention.”
“He’s not scared of any of the world champions, he’s ready to fight for world titles. With his KO power, there won’t be one cruiserweight in the world who wants to get in the ring with him.”
LAUREN PRICE MBE
Professional Debut
Price: “I’m just looking forward to this fight more than anything. Tokyo feels like a lifetime ago and I ticked every box as an amateur. It was my childhood dream to go to the Olympics and I won gold. Now the new journey starts, and the new dream is a world title, but I’m just taking each fight as it comes, step-ups every time and I’m looking forward to the journey.”
Ben Shalom on Price: “Lauren Price now has the platform to be a massive star, we’ve never seen someone as decorated as here. She’s probably looking at the Katie Taylors and Savannah Marshalls and thinking she can do one better and take it to new heights”
GERMAINE BROWN vs ZAK CHELLI
English Super-Middleweight Championship Bout
Brown: “I’ve been training hard, Zak Chelli’s a good fighter, but me and my team have come up with a perfect game plan that I’m going to execute on Saturday night”
“50/50 fights excite me. A lot of boxers don’t want to take 50/50 fights, but I love them and I love proving people wrong”
Chelli: “IThe better the boxer, the better I perform. I stopped my last opponent who had a similar record to Germaine. People are expecting me to box in this fight rather than go for the stoppage, but I’m going to show on Saturday night that I am a boxer and a puncher by getting a lovely finish”
Ben Shalom on Chelli vs Brown: “One thing I do know is both these guys give it absolutely everything, both fighters will come out of this fight very well, win or lose”
VIDDAL RILEY vs JONE VOLAU
Cruiserweight Bout
Viddal: “One thing I’ve missed is consistency in building that momentum in my career. Now I’m with BOXXER and Sky, I can do that. I’m going to win this one and then fight two or more times this year. This is my homecoming, I’ve boxed around the world but now I’m home. I’m going to put on a show on Saturday night”
Shalom on Viddal: “The level of interest in Viddal Riley is incredible. He’s so well respected across multiple industries. He’s got everything viddal, but the main thing people have to remember is that he’s a serious serious fighter as well”
Jone Volau: “He’s a young star, up and coming talent. I’m just coming in for a great fight and a tear up on Saturday night”
CHRIS KONGO vs SEBASTIAN FORMELLA
WBC International Welterweight Championship Bout
Chris Kongo: “I’m ready to put on a show, but the only thing I’ve been focusing on for the last 8 weeks is Sebastian Formella. I’ve seen loads of him, we’ve been studying him on film. I can’t wait to show what I can do on Saturday night. We all know I come on stronger, later in the fight. We’ll see how it goes and if the stoppage comes it comes.”
Formella: “Chris Kongo is a strong fighter. We’ve prepared for a big and difficult exercise on Saturday night, we’ve had lots of time to prepare for this. The winner of this fight has the opportunity to fight for a very big title”
Ben Shalom on Kongo: “This is a fantastic fight for Chris Kongo. It’s a great opportunity but it’s also a crossroads fight too, he has to perform on Saturday night and has to show why he is world level. If he can get a stoppage that would be a huge statement.”
JEAMIE TKV
Heavyweight
TKV: “I showed certain skills in my last performance that other heavyweights aren’t able to show. So once looking back at it I was very happy with the performance because I did things I know a lot of very good heavyweights can’t. I know I can get to the top and I can get there very soon, I’ve been in the ring with all these top guys and I hang with them, so I know I’m already operating at a really high level”
EBONIE JONES
Super-Bantamweight
Jones: “I went back to the drawing board, changed some things, trained really hard, and you’re going to see a different Ebonie on Saturday night”
“If you don’t see a better Ebonie after what I’ve done to push myself in this camp then you never will, I’ve done everything I possibly can to improve”
JIMMY LEE
Super-Featherweight
Lee: “Pleased to get the first one out the way, but now that’s done I’m looking for a better performance on Saturday.”
“I just want to take every fight as it comes, you don’t want to come up too fast and lose, so we just take the fights as they come and get to that top level when I’m ready”
SHANNON RYAN
Super-Flyweight
Ryan: “I loved my debut, I love performing. I personally believe I put on a very strong performance in my debut. The advice I’ve given myself is to go after everything, to chase everything that I want and you’ll see intelligent boxing on Saturday night”
| Israil Madrimov and Michel Soro will rematch in a Final Eliminator for the WBA Super-Welterweight World Title on the undercard of the huge Heavyweight clash between Derek Chisora and Kubrat Pulev at The O2 in London on Saturday July 9, live worldwide on DAZN (excluding Australia, New Zealand and France). Madrimov (8-0, 6 KOs), the No.1 ranked Super-Welterweight with the WBA, beat Soro in controversial fashion in their first meeting at the Renaissance Hall in Tashkent, Uzbekistan last December – resulting in the WBA ordering an immediate rematch. ‘The Dream’ hurt France’s Soro (35-3-1, 24 KOs) late in the ninth round, and it appeared Soro would hang tough when the bell went. However, referee Salvador Salva didn’t hear the bell and Madrimov landed a barrage of punches after the bell, and the Spanish official stopped the contest. It was initially unclear what would happen as both teams implored their fighters to stay in the ring. After several minutes of deliberation officials gave Madrimov the victory. Team Soro were visibly upset, but now have the chance for revenge next month. “I am looking forward to this fight again,” said Madrimov. “After the first fight I told my team right away, if the way the fight ended requires a rematch, I am willing to do it. I do not want any unanswered questions left. Let the best man win this time honorably and decisively. We are having a good camp and will be ready for July 9.” “Madrimov is a great fighter and an exemplary sportsman, a very respectful man,” said Soro. “This fight is crucial for each of us, we are going to war. I will be much stronger than in the first fight, I have no right to defeat, I will give everything and I will win.” Tickets for Chisora vs. Pulev are priced £40, £80, £100, £200 and £400 (VIP) General Sale tickets can be purchased via Stage Front (primary.stagefront.com) from midday on Thursday June 9. |

| LONDON, JUNE 9 – Joe McGrail has warned that his appearance as a ‘skinny teenager’ disguises the fact he carries knockout power.
The Liverpool puncher returns to action on July 1, in Bolton, looking to build on the momentum of an eye-catching first round blitz of his opponent at Probellum Liverpool in April. McGrail has won two of his three pro fights by stoppage and is part of a talent-packed Everton Red Triangle gym in his home city, where he shares “next level” sparring with brother Peter, Andrew Cain and others. And the 19-year-old is ready to deliver another statement victory next month as his exciting pro journey moves to the Bolton Whites Hotel. “I’ve watched the stoppage win from my last fight a few times,” McGrail says with a laugh. MCGRAIL ON SUNNY EDWARDS SPARRING FIGHT NIGHT GALLERY FROM PROBELLUM LIVERPOOL “I was happy with my performance, and I feel like I hit hard for my weight and age – and that is only going to increase as well. “When we face-off, I bet my opponents look at me and think: ‘He’s only 19 and he’s only skinny’ but I know when I am landing shots, I am hurting these guys. I know I carry the power to get them out of there.” McGrail will be keeping a close eye on this weekend’s British super bantamweight title fight between Marc Leach and Liam Davies, saying they could be “future opponents”. But the Everton Football Club fan, who has enjoyed recent sparring with the three Yafai brothers, is toying with the idea of challenging for his first career title at bantamweight. | DAVIES STILL ABLELIAM DAVIES BELIEVES a big domestic duel with Andrew Cain remains on the cards despite injury scuppering a scheduled collision in April.
A shoulder injury put Davies out of contention for the Telford date and Cain went on to seize the WBC International Silver title with a 20-second destruction of Pablo Ariel Gomez. Being in his home town and with his brother (Bradley Thompson) also on the bill, Davies was in and around the fight week scene, leading to a frosty exchange with Cain following the weigh-in. On June 11, again in Telford at the International Arena, it is Davies’ turn to be in big fight action when he challenges Marc Leach for the British super bantamweight title. “It was a sickener,” said Davies on being forced to withdraw from a fight with a former amateur rival. “But it is one of those things, you have knockbacks and hopefully that was the end of mine because I kept training and sometimes it is hard to stay motivated. “I have done, but it has been tough and we are there now, finally. My shoulder is good and I’ve got the okay from the hospital. “My shoulder was hurting me for a good while. I stopped punching and then I would try again and it was still hurting. I went to the physio, who referred me to the hospital, so I went to the Princess Royal and had an MRI. “It was my AC joint that was jarred and there was a lot of inflammation, so they gave me an injection. Once you have been to the hospital it goes on your medical records that go to the board, who then speak to the doctor who said I was not okay to fight until a certain time. “I’ve had physio and it has been better since the injection, but I just had to have a few weeks with no punching and doing all the boring stuff. It has been a bit of a nightmare.” Davies insists he had no reservations over fronting up to his rival Cain, who had a few choice words for his original opponent. “I didn’t mind it. I knew what they were gonna do when they asked me to go and I wasn’t going to shy away from it. It is just a fight and a good fight when it happens. “I see I got a bit of a slating for saying I had hurt myself but these people don’t understand boxing. You can’t just make up an injury because letters and stuff have to be sent to the board, so you can’t have no proof. I’d show everyone, but not everyone needs to know. “I knew he would be like that because that is what he is like. It was good and it sells the fight, doesn’t it? Even if he goes to bantamweight it is not far off in weight difference. “It will happen. I know it will happen. I want to fight everyone or when you leave the sport you will regret it. I have dropped off the radar a bit but I am going to blast back, don’t worry about that.” There are some tickets remaining for the show at Telford International Centre on Saturday, 11 June available from Ticketmaster.co.uk. Dubliner Willo Hayden (3-0, 1 KO) will continue his development at lightweight, along with Liverpool lightweight Callum Thompson (3-0, 1 KO) and Atherstone welterweight banger George Bance (3-0, 1 KO). Long Island, New York (June 9, 2022) – Rockin’ Fights 42 is ready to take over The Paramount in Huntington, Long Island on Saturday night (June 11). Star Boxing announced today that featured on the card is local undefeated super welterweight, “THE JACKPOT” TYRONE “PRETTY BOY” JAMES (Elmont, NY 12-0 9KO’s). James returns to “Rockin’ Fights” after an electric fourth round stoppage victory over a big step up opponent in Jimmy “Quiet Storm” Williams this past March. James seeks to keep his undefeated record on June 11th, and do it in “Pretty Boy” style, as he steps up once again against Colombian, JANER GONZALEZ (Miami, FL by way of Colombia, 20-4-1 16KO’s), in an 8 round super welterweight bout.
Gonzalez has faced off with some big time prospects, contenders and champions such as undefeated WBA Welterweight World Champion, Eimantas Stanionis (then, 11-0 9KO’s), Ivan Golub (then 19-1 14KO’s) and former WBA Interim World Champion, Jamal James (then 24-1 12KO’s). James will seek to elevate his status once more with a key victory over an opponent with Gonzalez’s stature.
Also on the Star Boxing acclaimed series, Ireland’s “SUPERFLY” TONY BROWNE (Dublin, Ireland, 5-1) returns to the USA quickly after his recent April 9th ‘step-up’ unanimous decision victory at Rivers Casino over Leandro Silva. Brown will take on Star Boxing stablemate, Brazilian bomber, LUCAS MARTINS (Sao Paulo, Brazil, 13-1 11KO’s) in an 8-round super middleweight bout. This June 11th fight at the Paramount will be the biggest fight and test of the young Irishmen’s career, and a victory will put him on the map in the states, leading to bigger opportunities. However, Martins, who is coming off a victory in his native Brazil and was seen on DAZN back in October in a respectable performance against heralded prospect Diego Pacheco, is also a well-regarded prospect. The winner of this fight figures to have a bright future in the super middleweight division.
In a possible show stealer, ISAAH FLAHERTY (Elmont, NY, 3-0 1KO) will put his undefeated record on the line against the tough QUADEER JENKINS (Trenton, NJ 2-3 2KO’s) in a 4-round super middleweight fight that could steal the show. Flaherty returns to The Paramount after taking home a unanimous decision over Angelo Thompson. Jenkins, who fought on the undercard of Anthony Joshua vs Andy Ruiz back in 2019, is coming off a second round TKO victory on May 13 and will look to keep the momentum going by snatching Flaherty’s undefeated record.
In a battle of pro debut’s, two-time New York Ring Masters Champion RONNY REYES (New York, NY, Pro Debut) looks to start his career on the right foot in a 4 round lightweight bout against a fellow pro debut in HECTOR BECERRA (Corpus Christi, TX, Pro Debut).
Bronx firefighter, LOUIS “IL MARTELLO” MAIETTA (Bronx, NY 1-1-1) looks to get back in the win column against DEQUINT “BEYOU” HILL (Austin, Texas, 0-1) who will attempt to secure his first victory as a professional in a scheduled 4 round light heavyweight bout.
“This is a fun card from top to bottom that will once again bring excitement to the Paramount on Saturday, June 11th,” said Star Boxing CEO JOE DEGUARDIA. “The action at the Paramount rivals any location in the world and the fighters always seem to put it all on the line in that famed ‘telephone booth’ sized ring at the Paramount. Tyrone James has really become a fan favorite and could be the next one to graduate to the bright lights. The undercard once again should be thrilling 50/50 fights that promise to captivate the fans in attendance. It’s always great to be at “Rockin’ Fights,” and we hope to see you there.”
The Cletus Seldin vs Rachid Jkitou bout that was scheduled for 10 rounds for the NABA Super Lightweight Title will not proceed due to a Jkitou medical issue. It is hopeful that a new opponent will be announced for Cletus Seldin Thursday afternoon.

Below are what the fighters had to say about their upcoming fights:
JAIME MUNGUIA, FORMER WORLD CHAMPION AND UNDEFEATED CONTENDER:
“I feel very good this training camp. We are all happy, we have been putting in a lot of hard work and we are ready to face Kelly this Saturday.”
“We decided to make the move to Big Bear in search of sparring partners. I am getting bigger and need sparring partners of my size. Although Otomi, does have great fighters, the issue for me is the size and also, less fighters are willing to go out there for sparring. In Big Bear we are in the boxing hub of Southern California and have more access to fighters willing to make the drive for a sparring session.”
“It’s difficult to be in a training camp away from my friends and family. But I love my job, I love boxing. I also motivate myself to work hard for my friends and family. They are the biggest and the daily motivation that I have to push harder everyday to be the best for them.”
“I have to be careful with Kelly. I know he is coming with nothing to lose and everything to gain so I have to make sure not to let my guard down on Saturday.”
JIMMY “KILRAIN” KELLY, FORMER WORLD TITLE CHALLENGER:
“I am feeling very good about my first time on the west coast. I feel settled in. I am looking forward to the opportunity.”
“Jaime has a lot of experience, he’s unbeaten, he’s a big puncher. I have trained accordingly and am looking forward to Saturday night.”
“I focus on myself. I know some fighters have taken an aggressive approach and perhaps they have played into the hands of Munguia. Perhaps a loose approach is something to look at.”
“I have been waiting for a good opportunity to happen. When the phone rang, even though it was only four weeks’ notice, I decided to do it. Fortunately I was already in training for a show so I felt comfortable saying ‘yes’”
OSCAR DUARTE, SUPER LIGHTWEIGHT CONTENDER:
“I am happy to be back in the U.S. to fight in front of all the boxing fans in Southern California. We had a great training camp and I am excited to show all everything we have been working on.”
EVAN SANCHEZ, SUPER WELTERWEIGHT PROSPECT:
“This is going to be a big card. I have fought on two of his other cards. I know a lot of people will show up for him so I have to put on a good performance and try to take over the show. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to open another DAZN card. I feel like I belong here and I know there is more to come.”
CARLOS OCAMPO, SUPER WELTERWEIGHT CONTENDER:
“I feel very good and happy to be on this card. I think my career has taken on a good trajectory and I think this fight will show that we are on the right path. After my fight with Errol Spence I have learned a lot and grown as a fighter. I am ready for a world title challenger with anyone, any time. I am ready.”
RONNY RIOS, SUPER BANTAMWEIGHT WORLD TITLE CHALLENGER (Fighting on June 25):
“This opportunity is very exciting for me and for my team. This is every fighter’s dream [ to fight for a world championship] and we are all ready to move forward with everything we got.”
“It’s been a long process. I’ve had a lot of ups and downs, but it has taken consistent work to get back to the top. We have never stopped grinding. My team is extremely strong right now. I have always believed in myself and my team. Luckily we are here once again trying to fulfill this dream.”
“I know my opponent is a southpaw. He has two belts. I cannot take that away from him, but I have a lot of experience. I have been in the ring with a lot of top opponents at 122lbs. I want to see where he stacks up against me.”
“I think that if I keep performing at the top level that I have been, I know we will come out on top. My team has put together a great game plan. I just have to go out there, listen to my team, and do everything with confidence.”
Tickets for Munguia vs. Kelly are on sale now and are priced at $150, $100, $50, and $25 not including applicable service charges. “‘The Fight for Freedom and Peace is dedicated this time to the brave and courageous people of the Ukraine. What we have here, with these guys that are fighting, we’re going to have a real good time.”
“All throughout the world, there’s just a sense that ‘nobody knows Trevor.’ On this side of the dais is ‘The Dream.’ This man has a dream, and that’s what America’s all about. This young man is undefeated, and his dream has been to stay a world champion. Yesterday’s nobody becomes tomorrow’s somebody. Let me bring up this young man here, the WBA heavyweight champion of the world, Trevor ‘The Dream’ Bryan.”
FRANCIS WARREN, DIRECTOR OF BOXING AT FRANK WARREN AND QUEENSBERRY PROMOTIONS
“I just want to say it is a pleasure to be here in Miami with Daniel and the team and I big thank you to Don and all his great staff for making us feel so welcome and putting on a great event.”
“Daniel has been waiting for this a long time and we respect Trevor tremendously as a world champion, but Daniel is here to do the business and we are fully confident we will be going home with the new WBA world champion.”
TREVOR BRYAN (22-0, 15 KOS), WBA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION
“Hey, listen. This is who I am. This is Trevor Bryan. You see this face right here? I’ve been here for a long time, and I’m going to be here for a long time. First of all, I want to thank you guys as well for coming all this way to get this a** whooping. Don King, thank you, brother for setting all of this up.”
“Let me just say a couple more things. See my face again: this is Trevor Bryan, the undefeated WBA heavyweight champion. This fight is called the ‘Fight for Freedom and Peace,’ but before you have freedom and peace, you’ve got to have war, and war’s what you’re going to have on June 11. It’s going to be a war.”
“I’m nobody, you’re just going to walk through me, right? That’s not what’s going to happen. I hope that you’re ready because I’m telling you right now: this is going to be a hard night for you. You’re not going home across the pond with the belt.”
DANIEL DUBOIS (17-1, 16 KOS), NO. 1 HEAVYWEIGHT CONTENDER
“100%, I’m ready to rumble. I’m out here to make myself, my family, and my country proud. This is what I’ve been waiting for, and I can’t wait for Saturday. I’m going to have to go through Trevor and take that belt back with me on the plane. Let’s go!”
DACARREE SCOTT (7-0, 6 KOs), NABA GOLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION
“I’m DaCree ‘Mack Truck’ Scott. I’m 7-0. It didn’t take me long to get to this stage. I’m sorry for your loss, but I’m going to say it again, this is what I do. If y’all thought my last fight was good, that was on three days’ notice. I had a full camp this time. It’s statement season.”
JONATHAN GUIDRY (17-1-2, 5 KOs), HEAVYWEIGHT CONTENDER
“Thank y’all for the opportunity to come back and fight again for another title. My promoter passed away, so I’m going to fight this fight for him, and I’m going to take that belt back to Louisiana.”
JOHNNIE LANGSTON (10-3, 4 KOS), NABA CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPION
“I’m going to tell you what time it is. I hear what he’s talking about, but I’m going to bring this belt home. On Saturday, I hear him, but I don’t think I came all this far for nothing. It’s been my lifelong dream to be a champion, so I’m going to keep the belt.”
ISAIAH THOMPSON (6-1-1, 5 KOS), CRUISERWEIGHT CONTENDER
“My name’s Isaiah ‘Night Night’ Thompson. Yes, I’m going to be the challenger. I don’t really have too much to say, I’m just going to go out there and show it.”

DANIEL DUBOIS CAME face to face with WBA heavyweight champion Trevor Bryan this afternoon ahead of their big title collision in Florida on Saturday, live on BT Sport.
Veteran promoter Don King led proceedings in his own inimitable fashion, explaining that the title of the show, ‘The fight for freedom and peace’, is in honour of the people of Ukraine.
“This is the final press conference before the rumble on Saturday night,” said the 90-year-old fight maker. “I am very pleased and honoured to have this press conference with all these great fighters and it is going to be a super event.
“The Fight for Freedom and Peace is dedicated this time to the brave and courageous people of Ukraine, that Russia has decided to invade and declare war because of a bruised ego. It is a family feud that has turned into a tragedy.
“I got a call last night to say bombing had started in Kiev because the Klitschko brothers were going to try and be here to further their cause and fight for freedom, independence, peace and sovereignty they want.
“Now, with Francis (Warren) sitting to my left, the British are coming, the British are coming! I read in a column that the eloquent and distinguished Dubois said ‘I’m gonna devastate Trevor Bryan for making me wait so long’.
“Trevor wants to fight every day and twice on Saturdays. I am just delighted now we are going to have a real good time, whoever wins.”
“I am ready to rumble,” said Dubois when he took to the podium. “I am out here to make myself, my family and my country proud. This is what I’ve been waiting for and I can’t wait. I am going to go through Trevor and take that belt back with me on the plane.”
Representing Queensberry, Francis Warren added: “I just want to say it is a pleasure to be here in Miami with Daniel and the team and I big thank you to Don and all his great staff for making us feel so welcome and putting on a great event.
“Daniel has been waiting for this a long time and we respect Trevor tremendously as a world champion but Daniel is here to do the business and we are fully confident we will be going home with the new WBA world champion.”
Champion Bryan talked of the lack of recognition he has received as the WBA title holder, something he intends to change against Dubois at Casino Miami on Saturday night.
“Listen, this is who I am, I’m Trevor Bryan. See this face right here? I’ve been here for a long time and I’m gonna be here for a long time. I want to thank you guys for coming over the pond to get this ass-whipping.
“Let me just say again, you know who Trevor Bryan is. I am the WBA heavyweight champion and I’m here to stay. This fight is called freedom and peace, but before you have freedom and peace you gotta have war.
“That is what we’re gonna have on June 11. The guy thinks I’m nothing, I’m 22-0 and he’s just gonna walk through me, right? That’s not what’s gonna happen, I’m telling you right now.
“I’m Trevor Bryan, the Dream, and I’m gonna be this guy’s nightmare.”

Roseland, NJ (June 8, 2022) — GH3 Promotions has signed undefeated Cuban heavyweight Ricardo Aguero to a co-promotional contract with Ortiz Boxing Entertainment LLC.
Aguero, 29 years-old of Camaguey, Cuba, and now residing in Miami, has a record of 2-0 with two knockouts.
Standing an imposing 6’8 and weighing around 270 pounds, Aguero is trained by world class trainer Herman Caicedo, and is co-promoted by two-time heavyweight world title challenger Luis “King Kong” Ortiz.
” I am excited to be getting a promotional deal with GH3 Vito Mielnicki and Luis Ortiz, whom I consider my big brother. He took me under his wing in Cuba when I was a young boy, and told me not to quit, and my dreams would come true. I believe I am on the way to obtaining those dreams. I would like to thank my manager and trainer Herman Caicedo, my new promoters Luis Ortiz and Vito Mielnicki, and I’m excited to showcase my skills and improve to get better as a heavyweight fight by fight. Thank you very much,” said Aguero
