PAUL BUTLER: I AM NOT SCARED OF ANYBODY, CASIMERO IS THE SAME AS ME!

Los Angeles, CA – December 9, 2021 – Paul Butler insists he will show no fear when he clashes with John Riel Casimero for the WBO bantamweight title on Saturday’s historic #ProbellumRevolution card at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai.

Butler (33-2, 15 knockouts) challenges Casimero (31-4, 21 knockouts) on a stacked card this weekend that will be broadcast on FreeSports, Premier Sports and BoxNation in the UK and Ireland, and on AXS TV and FightNetwork in the USA and Canada, which also features Sunny Edwards defending his IBF flyweight title against Jayson Mama.

It sees Ellesmere Port’s Butler looking to become a two-time world champion, after the 33-year-old previously reigned back in 2014 after triumphing over Stuart Hall.

He now faces a difficult task against highly-rated Casimero, who won the world title in 2019 with a knockout victory over Zolani Tete, before recently defending it against Guillero Rigondeaux earlier this year, but Butler is confident that he will upset the odds.

“I am not scared of anybody. Casimero has got two arms, two legs, and eats and drinks the same as me,” said Butler. “I haven’t shied away from this. It is a fight that I’m excited for and I believe that I’ll win.

“I’ve trained for the best Casimero possible. I’ve watched tape and studied him well. We know he’s dangerous and he hits hard, and everybody talks about him being a monster and a knockout merchant, but it will be the best Paul Butler in there on Saturday.

“Every fighter is dangerous at this level. He’s a world champion in a very hot division and I’m not expecting an easy night, but I’ve got myself put into the mandatory position and it’s the fight I wanted. I’ve worked hard over all these years for it.

“On Saturday it will be 11 years to the day since I made my professional debut, so I’m excited to be here in Dubai in different surroundings. I’ve trained really well with Joe Gallagher, and teaming up with him was the best thing I have done.

“I wish I had done it from my debut, as everything has a structure and a gameplan. It has changed me completely, and earlier in my career I was maybe throwing for the sake of it and it might have been all-action. Now I don’t waste as many shots.

“Everything was a massive rush earlier in my career. When I won the world title against Stuart Hall I was young and inexperienced. I maybe hit that level too soon and everybody expected too much of me, but I’ve regrouped and worked hard to get back here.”

Saturday’s #ProbellumRevolution card also features some of the very best talent from around the world, as fearsome Uzbekistan heavyweight Bakhodir Jalolov takes on Julio Cesar Calimeno, four-weight world champion Donnie Nietes faces Norbelto Jiminez for the WBO International super-flyweight title, plus the always-exciting Jono Carroll meets Aelio Mesquita.

Tickets for the event are now on sale in-store at Virgin Megastore and online via Coca-Cola Arena and Platinum List.

Oscar Bonilla fighting in memory of brother

WORCESTER, Mass. (December 9, 2021) – Former New England super lightweight title challenger Oscar Bonilla returns to the ring after a 2 1/2 -year absence on the December 18th “New England Future VIII” event, presented by Rivera Promotions Entertainment (RPE), at Webster Town Hall, marking the first Webster (MA) professional boxing event in 27 years.

Bonilla (6-3-2, 1 KO), who is matched against Seth Basler (0-17) in a 4-round bout, will be fighting in memory of his younger brother, highly decorated Kevan Bonilla, who was tragically murdered at the tender age of 20 this past July in New Haven.

“Kevan was a very good amateur fighter who won a lot of tournaments,” Oscar said. “He was a helluva fighter! He was born into boxing. I started boxing when I was nine and he was born when I was 11. My mom was pregnant with him when she watched me fight. He was brought up in this atmosphere.

“He was a tough kid. Nobody knows what happened (other than he was shot), not even the police. I know he wasn’t in a gang. I think he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Life continues, nothing can bring him back, but I’ll make sure he’s never forgotten. I’ve prepared myself for my first fight since this happened. It’s no more me, it’s us. He’s always in my mind, but I’ve prepared mentally for this fight. I won’t let it stop me.”

Fight of the Year.

Pagan and Marrero will be fighting once again for the vacant New England Super Lightweight Championship in the Dec.18th 6-round main event.

Danbury (CT) super lightweight Omar “The Beast” Bordoy (11-1, 3 KOs) meets Argentinian opponent Gonzalo Carlos Dellera (9-15, 7 KOs in the 6-round co-featured event.

Undefeated Boca Raton (FL) super welterweight prospect Josniel “TG” Castro (7-0, 5 KOs) takes on Lenwood “Mr. Composure” Dozier (10-28-3, 5 KOs) in a 6-rounder.

Worcester super middleweight Bobby “BH3” Harris, III (3-0-1), a two-time national amateur champion and World Games Silver medalist, faces David Rohn (0-10-1) in a 4-round super middleweight bout.

Three-time New England Golden Gloves champion Derek “Hightower” Edmonds (3-0, 2 KOs), of Worcester, throws-down with Brazilian cruiserweight Wewerton Silveira Silva (0-1).

Worcester middleweight of Lawrence, in a 4-rounder.

Also fighting on the under undercard in 4-round matches are New Haven (CT) super lightweight Anuel Rosa (2-0, 2 KOs) vs. Stacy Anderson (0-8), and Worcester middleweight Eslih Owusu (6-0, 4 KOs), a native of Ghana, vs. Anthony Everett (1-9, 0 KOs).

Undefeated Polish cruiserweight prospect Adrian “Pretty Boy” Pinheiro Preparing to make waves in 2022

ORLANDO, Fla. (December 8, 2021) – Undefeated Polish cruiserweight prospect Adrian “Pretty Boy” Pinheiro (6-0, 6 KOs) recently closed out his first year as a prizefighter in Nashville, knocking out veteran Eric Abraham (6-11, 3 KOs) in the opening round via the 3-knockdown rule.

Pinheiro first dropped Abraham a minute into the fight with a right hook, followed that with a straight right, and finished the fight with a vicious right hook to the body with only one second remaining in round one.

“I could feel the punch in my knuckles on the first knockdown,” Pinheiro remembered. “I new I had hurt him, but I didn’t want to rush and get caught with a punch. I picked him apart and was surprised he got up after the second knockdown. He’s a tough guy. Everybody is a headhunter. I knew that he had been hurt in the head and was covering up, so I saw a body opening and took it.

“I went into the fight with a plan and flowed it. I was happy with my performance, but there’s always something we see that needs improvement for the next fight.”

Born in Poland, raised in Brazil, and now living and training in Orlando, the 24-year-old Pinheiro, was active this year, making his pro debut May 8th and fought five additional times in 2021, winning all by stoppage.
pRETTY bOY ACTION.jpg
Standing 6’ 4” and cut, Pinheiro is a huge country music fan who looked forward to fighting in Nashville for the first time.

“We went to Broadway and all those bars with live music,” Pinheiro added. “We stopped by the Music Museum too. We were only there for a few days, and I was fighting. I do plan to go back and seem the real Nashville.”

Back home for the holidays and training at the Orlando Boxing Club, Pinheiro plans to make waves on higher platforms in 2022.

“I as very busy in 2021 and didn’t start until May,” Pinheiro concluded. “I hope to be as busy or busier in 2022. My goal is to fight on television and win a title or two. I’d really like to get a fight in Chicago to fight in front of a large Polish crown. I love my people!”
“I’m so happy for him because he works so hard,” Pinheiro’s manager/head trainer Tony Blanco commented. “I believe in building fighters accordingly and for his sixth pro fight, I got him an experienced opponent who I thought would give Adrian some good rounds. Adrian just crushed him. I’m so proud of him. He wants it so bad. He is young and hungry. He does well sparring bigger guys with good names. I’m excited to be working with him.

“In 2022, I’ll work to get him a TV fight. He’s very popular on Tic Tik and Instagram, even before he started boxing. We’re also looking forward to him fighting in a city with a large Polish community. Adrian Pinheiro is a star in the making!”

A pair of Sampson Boxing’s exciting contenders, super welterweight Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora and super featherweight Eduardo Ramirez, moved themselves into separate world-title challenges with career-boosting victories on Showtime Pay-Per-View Sunday night.

Fighting on the undercard of Tank Davis’s also-thrilling war with Isaac Cruz at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Fundora (18-0-1, 12 KOs) was able to use his amazing physical gifts to outwork Spain’s formerly undefeated Sergio “El Nino” Garcia (33-1, 14 KOs) over 12 rugged rounds; while Mexico’s Eduardo “Zurdito” Ramirez (26-2-3, 12 KOs) continued his surge with a thrilling toe-to-toe 10-round unanimous decision over the always-game Colombian Miguel “The Scorpion” Marriaga (30-5, 26 KOs).

Fighting in the night’s co-main event, a twelve round WBC super welterweight eliminator, the 6’ 5” Fundora’s reach and activity rate were enough to overcome the dangerous Garcia’s attempts to land fight-ending haymakers. Fundora, the WBC #4 contender before the fight, whipped hard lefts and rights to the head and body from a seemingly impossible distance for a 154-lb fighter, as well as wicked uppercuts on the inside. Always in great shape, the entertaining Fundora kept a steady tattoo going on the sometimes befuddled Spaniard.

Rated WBC #2 before the fight, Garcia also had his moments. Especially in the middle portion of the fight, where he landed more-than-occasional bombs on the iron chin of Fundora, but not enough to sway the judges.

The scores were 115-113, 118-110 and 117-111. Fundora becomes the next mandatory challenger to WBC Champion Jermell Charlo.

And in a WBC 130-lb elimination fight, Ramirez, of Los Mochis, Sinaloa, brought his latest winning streak to four with an impressive unanimous decision over a determined Marriaga. The difference in punching power gave the Mexican slugger the advantage, but Marriaga never tacitly agreed to make it easy. Despite being down in round three from a Ramirez left hook, Marriaga got up, stayed in the fight and kept it interesting throughout. All three judges, however, scored the bout 99-90.

“Both of my fighters looked very good,” said their promoter, Sampson Lewkowicz. “Fundora is unstoppable at this weight. Even the best of the best can’t deal with his size. And Eduardo Ramirez is ready to become a world champion with his win over Marriaga. It was a very good night for Sampson Boxing and for two of my future champions.”

BENN: THE MINUTE I SMELL BLOOD, I’M ON HIM LIKE A RASH!

Conor Benn is aiming to end a successful 2021 in style when he defends his WBA Continental Welterweight Title against former World Champion Chris Algieri at the top of the bill at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool this Saturday December 11, live worldwide on DAZN

‘The Destroyer’ (19-0, 12 KOs), who has made incredible improvements under Tony Sims, is one of the hottest talents in world boxing following an impressive run of standout wins that have skyrocketed him into World Title contention in the ultra-competitive 147lbs division.

The 25-year-old Essex native sent out a brutal warning to his Welterweight rivals by wiping out Samuel Vargas inside the opening round at the Copper Box Arena in April, living up to his nickname as he took just 1 minute and 20 seconds to viciously halt the durable Colombian.

Benn was left frustrated by the tactics employed by Adrian Granados after widely outpointing the Mexican-American in their rescheduled clash in Leeds but the rising star is expecting a much tougher assignment against the USA’s former WBO Super-Lightweight ruler Algieri (25-3, 9 KOs) this weekend.

“The Formella and Vargas fights were great experiences for me because they showed me that I’m a fighter,” said Benn. “You hear people say that they fight for the crowd and need a crowd. You don’t need the crowd there. It could be Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse sitting ringside for all I care. I’m not paying attention to who’s there, it’s me and my opponent and I’m going in there to iron him out. That’s my job. That’s my objective; and I’ll get it done.

“Granados gave it all the talk and we thought he was going to come to fight. He didn’t come to fight; he didn’t even come to win. He said that he had to knock Britain’s ‘golden boy’ out to win but he got on his bike. I might as well have been in there with a journeyman because that was the way he was carrying on. He was very negative; he never threw any meaningful shots and he never engaged. I wasn’t able to capitalise on anything. There’s only so much you can do against someone who comes in not to win.

“My preparation for Algieri has been great. Every camp we build and build. We grow and develop. I plan on displaying my boxing brain come December 11. Every camp I have I don’t think I could push my body any more, but I manage to. You’ve got to push your body to the max. Before you know it, you’re reaching new PB’s. That’s standard for every single camp. You always keep learning. I’m a student of the game and school is never out. I’m always working on something.

“I’m ranked in the top 5 with the WBC and the top 10 with the WBA and IBF. That doesn’t satisfy me. I want to be number one. Second to none as my dad would say. I believe there’s a lot left for me to prove, not to anyone else, but to myself. When I first turned pro, everyone thought I was Southern Area level at best, then it was British and best and then European. I’m knocking on the door for a World Title and I believe in 2022 is going to be my year to take on some of these World Champions. I continue to prove myself every single time whoever they put in front of me.

“It’s going to be a Christmas special. It’s a Christmas cracker, that’s what it is. You’ll always get criticised for who you fight. People are saying Algieri is old. He’s 37 and he looks after himself, but I’m preparing for a prime Chris Algieri and I believe he is going to bring absolutely everything. He’s a former World Champion. We’re testing the waters in my career. We need these fights to test the waters and see where I’m at. I believe I’m world level, and I should beat people like Chris Algieri with ease. I’m very confident in my ability and everything we have been working on. I’ve just got to go in there and leave my stamp. The minute I smell a bit of blood, I’m on him like a rash.”

Benn vs. Algieri tops a huge night of boxing in Liverpool,Irish sensation Katie Taylor (19-0, 6 KOs) defends her WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO and Ring Magazine Lightweight crowns against WBA Mandatory Challenger Firuza Sharipova (14-1, 8 KOs), ‘The Welsh Wizard’ Joe Cordina (13-0, 8 KOs) continues his push for Super-Featherweight World Title action in 2022 when he meets Belgium’s Miko Khatchatryan (13-0 7 KOs), former European, British and Commonwealth Super-Lightweight Champion Robbie Davies Jr (21-3, 14 KOs) takes on Henry ‘Hank’ Lundy (31-9-1, 14 KOs) for the vacant WBA Continental Title, undefeated Belfast Middleweight talent Caoimhin Agyarko (9-0, 6 KOs) makes his Matchroom debut against Noe Larios Jr (14-0, 6 KOs) for the vacant WBA International Title, former Team GB star Calum French makes his professional debut at Super-Lightweight, Tokyo Olympian Peter McGrail (1-0) steps though the ropes for the second time as a pro against Engel Gomez (8-3-1, 4 KOs) over six rounds and is joined on the bill by his debutant brother Joe McGrail who fights over four rounds at Super-Bantamweight, Chatteris Featherweight Jordan Gill (26-1, 7 KOs) returns, while former professional footballer Paddy Lacey (1-0) has his third pro fight.

Limited remaining tickets priced £40, £60, £80, £100 and £300 are available to purchase via StubHub.

Eddie Hearn and Matchroom are delighted to announce IBF World Super-Featherweight Kenichi Ogawa has signed a multi-fight promotional deal in association with Teiken Promotions.

Ogawa (26-1-1 18 KOs) landed the vacant IBF belt at the end of November with a superb victory over the dangerous Azinga Fuzile at the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden, New York, flooring the South African in the fifth and final rounds to punctuate a career-best showing to earn his first World title.

The 33 year old Japanese will target a first defense in 2022 and will be hunting down unification bouts with fellow champions Shakur Stevenson (WBO), Oscar Valdez (WBC) and Roger Gutierrez (WBA) next year, and cannot wait to return to action as soon as possible.

“I am happy to be joining Eddie Hearn and Matchroom,” said Ogawa. “It was a great night in New York, and I was so thrilled to win the belt in a great fight with Fuzile.

“I look forward to getting back in the ring soon to defend the title, on my way to win more belts.  With Teiken Promotions, Matchroom and DAZN, we will be able to make big fights and perform all over the world.

“I am so excited for the fights that can come in 2022 and beyond.”

“I am delighted to welcome Kenichi to the team,” said promoter Eddie Hearn. “Kenichi was fantastic in his World title win over Azinga Fuzile in New York, an exciting all-action display that really caught the eye on a spectacular night in the Big Apple.

“There are some huge fights to be made in the Super-Featherweight division and Kenichi can excite fans all over the world – I am sure that he will get the chance to add more belts to his IBF strap in 2022.”

Broadway Loma: Vasiliy Lomachenko Set for “Dangerous” Richard Commey Saturday Evening at Madison Square Garden

NEW YORK (Dec. 7, 2021) — Vasiliy “Loma” Lomachenko, the former three-weight world champion, is determined to return to the top of the lightweight heap. A former unified lightweight champion, Lomachenko fights former world champion Richard “RC” Commey in a 12-round main event at Madison Square Garden this Saturday Dec. 11 live on ESPN & ESPN Deportes (simulcast on ESPN+).

Lomachenko (15-2, 11 KOs) last fought in June, knocking out Masayoshi Nakatani in nine rounds. George Kambosos Jr. recently staked his claim as the division’s top dog with last month’s split decision over Teofimo Lopez, who toppled Lomachenko by unanimous decision in October 2020.

Kambosos’ win shook up the lightweight picture, and Lomachenko aims to make a bold statement Saturday evening.

Lomachenko said, “Richard Commey has big power, reach and experience. This is an interesting challenge for me, and I know it’s a fight the fans are excited to watch.

“I am 100 percent healthy and ready for Saturday night. I can’t wait. Madison Square Garden is like a second home for me. So many great moments in my career have taken place at Madison Square Garden. I won the lightweight title against Jorge Linares in that arena, so returning there brings back many great memories.

“I’m not going to say if I am the number one lightweight. That is a question for the fans. I always want to show my skills in the ring, and I hope the fans enjoy what I do.

“We can discuss my future after Saturday night. Of course, Kambosos is a fight I would like. He is the new champion, and he had a great performance against Lopez. But Commey deserves my full attention, and that is the task I am focused on now.

“My goals keep me motivated, one of which is to become undisputed champion. Commey is one of the division’s most dangerous fighters, and he is the one standing in my way.”

Lomachenko vs. Commey headlines a stacked quadruple-header airing after the Heisman Trophy Ceremony on ESPN & ESPN Deportes (simulcast on ESPN+) at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. Heavyweight knockout artist Jared “The Real Big Baby” Anderson (10-0, 10 KOs) returns in an eight-rounder against Ukraine’s Oleksandr Teslenko (17-1, 13 KOs), recent U.S. Olympic silver medalist Keyshawn Davis (3-0, 2 KOs) takes on Mexican veteran Jose Zaragoza (8-3-1, 2 KOs) in a six-round lightweight tilt, and middleweight Nico Ali Walsh (2-0, 2 KOs) opens the telecast in a four-rounder versus Reyes Sanchez (6-0, 2 KOs).

AGYARKO: I ALWAYS HAVE BAD INTENTIONS WHEN I STEP THROUGH THE ROPES

Caoimhin Agyarko is promising to make a statement when he takes on unbeaten American Noe Larios Jr for the vacant WBA International Middleweight Title this Saturday December 11 at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, live worldwide on DAZN.

The undefeated Belfast talent (9-0, 6 KOs), who is managed by Paul Ready and STN Sports, recently put pen to paper on a long-term promotional deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing after impressing with a string of eye-catching knockout wins.

‘Black Thunder’ harbours dreams of becoming Ireland’s first ever black World Champion and the 25-year-old former Holy Trinity amateur standout is hoping to steal the show when he makes his Matchroom debut on the undercard of Conor Benn and Irish legend Katie Taylor.

“I’m super excited to fight for Matchroom and DAZN,” said Agyarko. “It’s a new platform for me and I feel like I’m starting over again. I can’t wait to put on a good performance. It’s a dream come true for me to box on the undercard of Katie Taylor. I think Katie is not only the greatest female boxer of all time but also one of the greatest athletes of all time. For me to make my Matchroom debut on her undercard means so much to me.

“I’m on a five-fight knockout run and I want to keep that going. I want to improve from my last fight. I’ve made major adjustments in the gym. I’m a much happier fighter with his new team I’m with – Matchroom and Paul Ready and STN. I think you’ll see a different Caoimhin Agyarko on the night. I expect a lot from myself.

“I always have bad intentions when I step through the ropes. When I get in there on the night something just clicks and it’s completely different. There’s a fire burning inside of me and it’s seek and destroy. I expect an explosive dominant performance and a very impressive stoppage. I feel like I’m boxing’s best kept secret but after December 11 everyone will know who Caoimhin Agyarko is.

“I expect him to be a tough opponent. I expect him to come and fight. He’s got this opportunity on a Matchroom card live on DAZN. He’s unbeaten, he’s never tasted defeat before, so I expect the best version of him on the night. He’ll come and try and make a statement. He’s 14-0, I haven’t been thrown in with a journeyman or someone that I’m meant to rollover. It’s a step up for me and I’m looking to make a statement.”

Agyarko vs. Larios Jr is part of a huge night of boxing in Liverpool, Welterweight star Conor Benn (19-0, 12 KOs) faces the toughest test of his career yet in the shape of former WBO Super-Lightweight World Champion Chris Algieri (25-3, 9 KOs), Irish sensation Katie Taylor (19-0, 6 KOs) defends her WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO and Ring Magazine Lightweight crowns against WBA Mandatory Challenger Firuza Sharipova (14-1, 8 KOs), ‘The Welsh Wizard’ Joe Cordina (13-0, 8 KOs) continues his push for Super-Featherweight World Title action in 2022 after scoring a sensational first round knockout win over the USA’s Joshuah Hernandez at Fight Camp in August, former European, British and Commonwealth Super-Lightweight Champion Robbie Davies Jr (21-3, 14 KOs) takes on Henry ‘Hank’ Lundy (31-9-1, 14 KOs) for the vacant WBA Continental Title, former Team GB star Calum French makes his professional debut at Super-Lightweight, Tokyo Olympian Peter McGrail (1-0) steps though the ropes for the second time as a pro against Engel Gomez (8-3-1, 4 KOs) over six rounds and is joined on the bill by his debutant brother Joe McGrail who fights over four rounds at Super-Bantamweight, Chatteris Featherweight Jordan Gill (26-1, 7 KOs) returns, while former professional footballer Paddy Lacey (1-0) has his third pro fight.

VIDEO: Jake Paul Media Conference announcing Tyron Woodley Rematch

JAKE PAUL MEDIA AVAILABILITY QUOTES

NEW YORK – December 6, 2021 – International superstar Jake “The Problem Child” Paul met with members of the media Monday to react to the news that he will now face former MMA world champion Tyron “The Chosen One” Woodley in a rematch of their August clash won by Paul after professional boxer and reality TV star Tommy Fury withdrew from their December 18 matchup due to a medical issue.

Paul vs. Woodley II, titled Leave No Doubt, will be the main event on SHOWTIME PPV, live from AMALIE Arena in Tampa, Fla., on Saturday, December 18 (9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT).

Limited tickets remain and are available for purchase at https://bit.ly/PAULvsWOODLEY.

Below are quotes from Paul.

Jake Paul

“This is boxing, right? These types of things happen and it’s unfortunate. But it’s still going to be a massive fight just like it was last time. There are celebrities coming out left and right, some are even more excited to see me fight Tyron again. There are unanswered questions. That’s why the slogan for the fight is ‘Leave No Doubt’.

“I’ve gotten so much better in this training camp. I’m going to leave no doubt. I want to knock this guy out. We can move on from there but for the Fury’s, it’s an embarrassment. They said, ‘Oh, we’ll fight Jake with a broken rib. We’ll fight Jake with a chest infection. We’ll fight Jake with our arms tied behind our backs.’ And then when it actually came time to fight me, they pulled out.

“I got the news early Friday morning. My manager Nakisa had already spoken to Tyron, who was willing to step up. I believe later that evening or the next day we already had the contract signed from Tyron.

“I definitely respect Tyron for stepping in. He has balls. Tyron deserves a lot of credit for stepping in here. But I’ve made a ton of adjustments and he’s going to be fighting a different person December 18. I’m excited to show him and the world that.

“For me, the biggest thing to gain is proving people wrong from last time that thought he won, which is hilarious. Including the judge who made it a split-decision. Clearly, he was at some different fight. But now I’m going to back that up and go and knock this guy out. It just goes to show when I say any one, any time, any place, I mean it. Most fighters aren’t like that. For me to take whoever, wherever, whenever this early on in my career doing eight-round fights in my fifth fight, it’s unheard of. People just need to realize how serious I take this and how a lot of these other professional fighters don’t train as hard as me. They’re not as prepared as me.

“I’ve fought with a broken nose. I’ve fought sick. The list goes on. Last fight against Tyron, I had a hyperextended elbow. Didn’t say anything. Why? Because it doesn’t matter. I’m still going to go in there and find a way to win. That’s my motivation. Win.

“Tyron was the immediate go-to. He had been training and last fight was massive and had a ton of hype around it. There were unanswered questions so he was really the perfect person to throw in there.

“The story has been people making excuses every which way about my fights. I sort of don’t care what people have to say or if the respect is there. The bottom line is I have to go in and knock this guy out. That’s my job and I plan on doing so.

“The show must go on. I’ll fight anybody. Any one, any time, any place. I say that. Our team says that. I mean it. That’s the difference. What I say, I mean. I think a lot of these fighters say stuff just to say stuff. I have a responsibility to put on this fight for my fans. And every fighter on the undercard, imagine them getting a call that the fights cancelled. That sucks for everybody. I had to step up to the plate and I didn’t care who it was.

“I question everything about the Fury family. This kid is 22, right? You throw a 22-year-old in who has never accomplished anything himself. The only reason he’s anything is because of his brother. He’s had a silver spoon in his mouth his whole entire life. He’s gotten fame because of his brother. He’s never actually had a real opponent. He’s only ever been put in with people who were meant to lose. When you throw in that, you throw in the fact that you’re fighting me – I’m a scary guy to fight – the smack talk, the pressure, all of this, I think he cracked and tried to find a way out. I truly believe that in the deepest bones of my body.

“We changed up a lot of things in this training camp. A to Z. Last fight showed that I’m not just going in there and knocking Tyron out. There’s a lot of things to work on. I didn’t fight my best fight, for sure. It wasn’t even my best night. There was a lot of things to work on and we did that this camp. We went ten times harder. I’ve sparred almost 200 rounds since that fight. Changed up a lot of details. Diet. I stopped eating as many carbs. We brought in a nutritionist and he tweaked every little thing. I’m ten pounds lighter than I was going into the last fight so I’m feeling faster but also stronger at the same time.

“There’s been this rumor going around about a no knockout clause in my contracts, which someone started and everyone else ran with. People are like sheep. They just believe anything they read or see. That’s been a rumor that is completely untrue. I’d be in jail for rigging fights. It’s illegal. We just wanted to squash that rumor right away. From now on, we will be giving bonuses to my opponents if they can knock me out because we want to incentivize them and prove to the media and the world that all of these rumors aren’t true.

“The smart ones that did look into the rumor about drug testing saw that there is drug testing for this fight. The Florida State Athletic Commission is drug testing me and Tommy multiple times. There was never a denial on my end of doing any sort of drug test.

“Him pulling out of the fight does give me hesitation to fight him in the future. It really does. He didn’t show up to the press conference. Then he pulled out of the fight. He’s done a terrible job at promoting the fight that we had. He posted on social media once every other week. He’s not as hyped as everyone thought. I’m pissed off now. I don’t like them. I don’t like anything to do with that family. I don’t really see a reason to come back next year and give him that big of an opportunity and that big of a payday. It would almost be more fun and more satisfying for me to just leave him in the dust and make him fight until he’s 25-0, if he gets that far, to get the same payday that he was getting in his eighth fight.

“Amanda Serrano is great. She’s a superstar. We’re just excited to help her elevate her career to the next level because she’s putting in the work. She’s one of the greatest boxers ever, man or woman. Most Valuable Promotions is excited to work with her to give her the paydays that she deserves and to put her on that pedestal. That’s what she’s done so far. We’re eyeing a mega-fight between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano in 2022 so it’s exciting and we’re just looking to elevate this sport. Women’s boxing is a big passion of mine.”

LAS VEGAS (December 6, 2021) – As he marches towards a special boxing milestone, former World Boxing Organization Super Middleweight World Champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (42-0, 28 KOs), now an undefeated world light heavyweight contender, will be fighting Yunieski “The Monster” Gonzalez on December 18th for his 43rd consecutive victory.

Ramirez vs. Gonzalez  headlines a DAZN-streamed card, presented by Ramirez’ promoter Golden Boy Promotions, in a 12-round WBA Light Heavyweight Title Eliminator from San Antonio (TX) with the winner becoming the mandatory challenger for World Boxing Association Light Heavyweight World Champion Dmitry Bivol (18-0, 11 KOs), assuming the Kyrgyzstan-native gets past Umar Salamov (26-1, 19 KOs) on Dec. 11th in Russia.

TOMMY FURY WITHDRAWS; JAKE PAUL TO FACE TYRON WOODLEY IN REMATCH ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 18

NEW YORK – December 6, 2021 – International superstar Jake “The Problem Child” Paul will face former MMA world champion Tyron “The Chosen One” Woodley in a rematch of their August clash won by Paul. Paul vs. Woodley II titled “Leave No Doubt” will be the main event on SHOWTIME PPV, live from AMALIE Arena in Tampa, Fla., on Saturday, December 18 (9p ET/6p PT).

Woodley steps in to replace professional boxer and reality TV star Tommy Fury, who withdrew from the event due to a medical issue that impacted his training camp. Paul vs. Woodley II is a professional cruiserweight bout scheduled for 8-rounds at a contract weight of 192 pounds.

“When my team woke me up on Friday to tell me Tommy was pulling out, I told them I’m ready to fight anyone on December 18,” said Paul, who is 4-0 as a pro boxer with three knockouts. “Troy, Trey, Trevor, Travis. I don’t give a damn who it is. So, as I predicted Tommy Fumbles and Tyron is there to pick it up, stepping in, and contractually he is getting an extra $500,000 if he knocks me out. First time I outboxed him. This time I’m gonna punish him and leave no doubt.”

On August 29, in front of a sold-out crowd of 16,000 fans at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio, Paul registered a split decision over Woodley. The former UFC champion was Paul’s toughest opponent to date and the first fighter to take boxing’s newest star the distance. The judges scored the fight 77-75 for Paul, 77-75 for Woodley and 78-74 for Paul.

In his post-fight comments, Woodley said he thought he won the fight.

“I didn’t expect him to eat my punches like that. But the fact that one judge only gave me two rounds is insane. Forget that Tommy Fury fight. Let’s run that back,” said Woodley after the fight.

“The ropes held him up when I hit him,” Woodley continued. “I could have had that knockdown. I landed power punches and he missed shots all night.”

Fighting out of St. Louis, Mo., Woodley (19-7-1 MMA record) has a storied career in combat sports. He became UFC champion in July 2016, defeating Robbie Lawler in the first round, and went on to defend his title successfully four times. Before competing in the UFC, Woodley fought in the Strikeforce MMA promotion on SHOWTIME and compiled an 8-1 record from 2009 through 2012. Widely considered one of the most dangerous punchers in UFC history, Woodley earned 14 of his 19 wins by way of TKO or submission. He made his boxing debut in August, dropping a close decision to Paul.

As previously announced, the December 18 SHOWTIME PPV event will feature three additional professional boxing matches. In the co-main event, seven-division world champion and current unified featherweight champion Amanda Serrano will face 135-pound titleholder Miriam Gutiérrez. Three-time NBA All-Star and two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Deron Williams will take on legendary San Francisco 49ers running back, the No. 3 all-time leading rusher, Frank Gore in a four-round heavyweight bout, the professional boxing debut for both men. In the telecast opener, undefeated IBF and WBO top-3 ranked junior welterweight contender Liam Paro of Australia will face fellow unbeaten top-10 ranked 140-pound Puerto Rican prospect Yomar Alamo in a 10-round junior welterweight showdown.

#PaulWoodley is produced and presented by Most Valuable Promotions and SHOWTIME Sports® and promoted in association with Tony and Bryce Holden of Holden Productions. The pay-per-view telecast begins live at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT and is produced and distributed by SHOWTIME PPV.

Limited tickets remain and are available for purchase at https://bit.ly/PAULvsWOODLEY.

This event is the second live sporting event co-produced by Most Valuable Promotions. Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian created MVP on the premise that content is king, and fighters are the creators of the content in martial arts. Paul and Bidarian will be executive producers of the event.

LIVE VIDEO: Gervonta Davis vs Isaac Cruz POST-FIGHT PRESS CONFERENCE

Davis Decisions Cruz; Retains Lightweight Belt

Gervonta Davis fought through an injured left hand, but was able to hold on a win a 12-round unanimous decision over tough challenger Isaac Cruz to retain the WBA Lightweight title in front of an enthusiastic crowd at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The fight was entertaining with Davis looking to land uppercuts with both his left and right hands. Cruz lived up to his pressure fighting scouting report as he tried to stay in the chest of Davis. Davis was able to build up an early lead by landing those uppercuts and hard left hands. Somewhere towards the middle of the fight, Davis seemed to hurt his left hand.

Cruz was able to close the gap down the stretch as he was able to land some good combinations. Davis did a terrific job in round 12, as he was clearly hurt, but able to avoid Cruz’s aggressive onslaught and land some solid counters of his own.

Davis landed 133 of 462 punches; Cruz 121 of 553.

Davis, 134.5 lbs of Baltimore, MD won by scores of 116-112 and 115-113 twice to raise his mark to 26-0. Cruz, 134.5 lbs of Mexico City is 22-2-1.

“That’s my style. ‘Pitbull’ is always going to be on the attack,” said Cruz. “I think we retained rhythm from the start to the end.”

“He’s a shorter fighter, so I was throwing down on the top of his head,” said Davis. “I hit him with my knuckle and messed it up. I hurt my hand in the sixth round. No matter if the opponent is taller or shorter, I’ve got to get through it. He’s a warrior. Even though he didn’t win, a star was born tonight.”

“It was right around the fifth round I saw that his hand wasn’t working correctly,” Cruz observed.

“Viva Mexico. I have nothing to say, the fans are speaking on who won this fight,” he said.

“L.A., we did it for Kobe,” said Davis. “At the beginning of the fight, he came on strong. I felt as the fight was going, he was breaking down. But I hurt my hand, so I wasn’t able to get him out of there.

“Whatever the best opportunity is for me, I’ll do it. All of them guys are easy work. I’m the top dog.

Fundora Decisions Garcia

In a battle of undefeated super welterweight’s, 6’7″ Sebastian Fundora won a 12-round unanimous decision over Sergio Garcia.

In round four, both guys began to bleed as Fundora started to leak from his nose and Garcia started to bleed around the right eye. It was a tough fight on the inside with Garcia trying to back up Fundora. Fundora was efficient with his volume punching.

Fundora landed 187 of 717 punches, Garcia was 163 of 778.

Garcia took some late rounds to make the scores close, but Fundora won by scores of 118-110, 117-111 and 115-113.

Fundora, 153.25 lbs of Coachella, CA is 18-0-1. Garcia, 153.5 lbs of Spain is 33-1.

“I was using my distance a lot more. I wanted to display something different than what I’m used to,” said Fundora. “Height was definitely a difference in this fight.”

“Maybe things could have been different if I had been more aggressive from the beginning,” said Garcia. “I shouldn’t have let myself get carried away by what he was doing.”

“We just beat the No. 2 in the WBC, so we have No.1, and we have the champion,” said Fundora. “Whoever they give us next, we’re ready for.”

Adames Decisions Derevyanchenko

Carlos Adames won a 10-round majority decision over former world title challenger Sergiy Derevyanchenko in a middleweight bout.

It was an action packed fight that saw both guys land serious leather on their opponent. Adames landed the flashier punches and pushed the action, and won by scores of 97-93, 96-94 and 95-95.

Adames landed 161 of 564 punches; Derevyanchenko was 157 of 562.

Adames, 159.5 lbs of Washington Heights, NY is 21-1. Derevyanchenko, 159.5 lbs of Brooklyn, NY is 13-4.

“This means a lot for me in my career and this is a big accomplishment winning against a fighter of his caliber,” said Adames, who was born in the Dominican Republic and fights out of Washington Heights in New York City.

“I am aggressive and speedy by nature, so I came in ready to do my thing. He started slow, wanting to see what would happen, and simply had the wrong game plan. He got a bit tired as the fight went on, took a lot of hard shots from me and it was evident that I caused him a lot of damage.”

“I expect my opponent to fight the same style. It was nothing special for me, just a quality fight,” said Derevyanchenko.

“He stayed southpaw, that was the difference in the fight. I don’t know what I’ll do next. I need a little bit of rest and then I will go back to the gym because I love boxing and I love the show.”

“This gives me an opportunity to move on,” said Adames. “I dominate at both 154 and 160, so wherever they give me the opportunity to fight for a championship is where I’ll go.”

Ramirez Decisions Marriaga

Eduardo Ramirez won a 10-round unanimous decision over Miguel Marriaga in a super featherweight bout.

In round three, Ramirez dropped Marriaga with a straight left. Ramirez continued to beat up Marriaga with hard combinations throughout the contest.

Ramirez landed 280 of 76 punches; Marriaga was 159 of 689.

Ramirez, 129.5 lbs of Durango, MEX won by scores of 99-90 on all cards and is now 26-2-3. Marriaga, 129.5 lbs of Arjona, COL is 30-5.

“I would like to thank the fans, SHOWTIME and the Montiel family for supporting me. Marriaga was a tough opponent, but I managed to dominate,” said Ramirez. “I had a varied fighting style and kept him on his toes the whole time.”

“We started out strong, but then things got progressively harder. Having said that, we are pleased with the work we put in today,” said Marriaga. “We should have been more savvy, but we tried our hardest in the face of a great opportunity that unfortunately we could not take advantage of.”

“Now I’m going to relax with my family and enjoy the holidays,” said Ramirez. “Then hopefully 2022 will come with a title shot for me.”
