Teofimo Lopez Defends Undisputed Lightweight Title against George Kambosos Jr. Tonight at The Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden

NEW YORK (NOVEMBER 27, 2021)–TONIGHT!!! Undisputed Lightweight World Champion Teofimo Lopez continues his “Takeover” of the 135-pound division, when he finally meets mandatory challenger George Kambosos Jr. at The Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden and Live on DAZN (8 PM ET)

Lopez (16-0, 12 KOs) of Brooklyn is managed by Split-T Management.

?The fight, which has been postponed numerous times over the past nine months, will take place, with Lopez looking to further cement his status as one of the top fighters on the pound-for-pound list.

He gained the titles and that recognition when he took a 12-round unanimous decision from reigning Pound-For-Pound king Vasiliy Lomachenko on October 17. 2020 in Las Vegas.

The animosity between Lopez has grown with each passing day, as Kambosos has failed to shake to unflappable champion.

“You have to know your place and on Saturday, God is going to humble this man, through me,” said Lopez. “A lot of these people are so ambitious and that’s OK, you have to be. But the thing is, sometimes you don’t get it because you probably won’t carry it the right way. You’re not going to be a people’s champ. You’re going to spend your money on yourself rather than giving back like a lot of fighters do.”

“It’s all about being the people’s champ. Ali was the greatest of all time for those things. He made a strong, strong impact on the sport, so for George, I have no respect for him at all – at all.”

“The amount of disrespect from him, you disrespect my Mother? I told them, I warned him, his manager ‘don’t talk about my family’. I said they can say anything else, talk sht about me, say I am a cockroach, an ant. But once you cross that line, that barrier; fck his manager Peter Kahn and f*ck George Kambosos Jr.”

At Friday’s weigh-in, Lopez weighed 135 lbs; Kambosos was 134.4

Lopez is promoted by Top Rank.

EUBANK JR VS LIAM WILLIAMS MOVES TO SATURDAY JANUARY 29 AT MOTORPOINT ARENA CARDIFF

OFFICIAL WEIGH-IN

The highly-anticipated domestic clash between Chris Eubank Jr and Liam Williams has been rescheduled to Saturday 29th January at the Motorpoint Arena Cardiff, kicking off a huge year of live boxing on Sky Sports.

Originally scheduled for December 11, the bout – presented by BOXXER and Sky Sports Boxing, in association with Wasserman Boxing – moves to the new year as a result of Williams suffering a recurrence of the shoulder injury sustained during his world title fight against Demetrius Andrade in April.

Following a series of scans and consultations with medical experts, Williams has been advised that the flare-up can be treated without surgery and that the bout can take place at the end of January.

Tensions between the two rivals were already running high, following years of heated invective around their mutual claim to being the #1 middleweight in the UK. The added build-up time is expected to take those tensions to new heights and set the stage for an explosive showdown in the Welsh capital.

“We were obviously disappointed to hear of Liam Williams’ injury but thankfully we will only have to wait a few more weeks to witness this blockbuster clash. Chris Eubank Jr vs. Liam Williams is the biggest fight in British boxing right now,” said Kalle Sauerland, Head of Global Boxing at Wasserman.

“There is genuine bad blood between them, and their rivalry is only going to intensify as we get closer to fight night. This is the match up everyone has been waiting to see. The atmosphere in Cardiff is going to be incredible when these two warriors finally meet in the centre of the ring to settle their differences.”

“We were absolutely gutted to hear of Liam’s injury and so we are equally delighted to get this fight back on, in a matter of weeks, to ensure Liam’s 100% fitness. The bitterness and mind-games towards each other has only intensified during this period, and by the time they get into the ring it will be at boiling point. I’m glad the fans will get the chance to see the fight that they desperately wanted,” said Ben Shalom, Founder and CEO, BOXXER.

“This was going to be the biggest domestic fight of 2021. Now it’s going to be the biggest domestic fight of 2022 and it’s starting the Sky Sports Boxing new year with a bang. It’s a great card from top to bottom and we can’t wait to feel the atmosphere in the Motorpoint Arena Cardiff on fight night. It’s going to be electric.”

“We’ve got to wait a few more weeks for Chris Eubank Jr vs Liam Williams, an unexpected twist in a heated rivalry which has just become even more intense. There was real tension as Eubank and Williams filmed ‘The Gloves Are Off’ in Sky Studios recently, so you can expect a classic British battle when they finally share the ring,” said Adam Smith, Head of Boxing Development at Sky Sports.

“We’re planning a blockbuster schedule which will be stronger than ever at the start of 2022, with Josh Taylor also defending his undisputed world titles in February – and there are more exciting announcements to come very soon!”

*Tickets purchased that have the original fight date of 11 December 2021 will be still be valid for the rescheduled date of 29 January 2022. For a full refund please go to your original point of purchase.*

TOKYO, JAPAN (November 24, 2021) – Jerwin Ancajas (33-1-2, 22 KOs), from Panabo City, Philippines, and Kazuto Ioka (27-2, 15 KOs), from Tokyo, Japan, will put up their dukes and their respective IBF and WBO junior bantamweight world titles, when they collide in a world title unification battle on Saturday, December 31, at the Ota-City General Gymnasium in Tokyo.  Promoted by Shisei Boxing Gym, Manny Pacquiao’s MP Promotions, TGB Promotions, and Knucklehead Boxing Promotions, Ancajas vs. Ioka – the New Year’s Eve test to be the best of the 115-pound division — will be the latest chapter in the storied Philippines-Japan boxing rivalry.

The two warriors boast a combined record of 60-3-2 (37 KOs) – a sterling winning percentage of 92% with victory by knockout ratio of 62%.

This will be the 10th title defense for Ancajas, who has reigned as IBF junior bantamweight champion since 2016.  The ultimate road warrior, fighting in his opponents’ backyard is nothing new for Ancajas who has made title defenses in Macau, Brisbane, Belfast, Mexico, the Philippines, and throughout the U.S.  He will have his hands full against Ioka, a four-division world champion who has held world titles in minimum weight, junior flyweight, flyweight, and junior bantamweight divisions dating back to 2011.

“This is my Dream Fight!  I have waited six years for a signature fight to prove to everyone in boxing that I am one of the best 115 pounders in the world,” Ancajas said.  “I have been to Japan, sparring in the past, and love the people of Japan and the boxing fans are some of the best in the world.  They respect all fighters and root for the best man to win.”

I have been working with Jerwin since he was ten years old. I am very excited that finally the fight is happening,” said Joven Jimenez, Ancajas’ manager and trainer.  “My goal, since Jerwin won the IBF World title in 2016, was to get him a major title unification fight.  We have worked so hard for this moment, and we will not be denied.”

“We are very happy that Jerwin Ancajas, one of our first world champions, is getting this tremendous opportunity to unify his IBF title with the WBO title,” said Sean Gibbons, president of MP Promotions.  “Jerwin has waited a long time for this type of fight and come December 31, he will ring in the new year as the NEW IBF and WBO Junior Bantamweight World Champion!”

KAMBOSOS JR: TEAM LOPEZ HAS NERVOUS ENERGY

George Kambosos Jr. believes yesterday’s fracas between Teofimo Lopez’s father and his father shows the champion’s team is full of ‘nervous energy’ ahead of their clash for Lopez’s IBF, WBO, WBA, WBC Franchise & Ring Magazine World Lightweight titles, at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York, live worldwide on DAZN.
TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW FROM $35 (PLUS FEES)
Kambosos Jr. (19-0 10 KOs) and Lopez (16-0 12 KOs) have been itching to get in the ring and end the long-running saga over their clash, which has been cancelled twice since being called with the Australian landing the IBF mandatory spot with victory in London over Lee Selby in October 2020.

Challenger and champion attended the media workout in New York yesterday, and as their paths crossed in the new Church Street Boxing Gym location near MSG, the teams clashed as the tensions rose between the camps.

Kambosos Jr. and Lopez were bystanders as the teams clashed, and the 28 year old is all business as he looks to rip the titles from ‘The Takeover’ in Lopez’s backyard.

“He’s got a lot of nervous energy and fear,” said Kambosos Jr. “His Dad got put in his place, he knows we don’t play around, we’re here ready to fight, ready for war, and he tucked his tail between his legs and that’s what’s going to happen on Saturday night.

“If they want to get it on my Dad is here too. We all saw it, what can you do? He was lucky that my Dad didn’t really unleash, or he would have not been in his corner on Saturday. If Eddie Hearn and Matchroom pay enough for the old fellas to go at it, maybe we’ll see it!

“This isn’t personal for me. Whatever delusional story he has in his head when he wasn’t even there on June 19, they’re just lying to him and telling him what he wants to hear. I am focused, even with what happened with our Dads, it’s forgotten, there’s no emotion for me, I am here to do a job.

“He’s coming to KO me early? No problem. That’s what I want to do. Victory by any means though, it would mean the world, all the sacrifice and hard work I’ve had to make, that’s what will make this special. It’s for my kids and the people around me, the belts are for them.

“I don’t think about what’s next. Ask Lopez, he thinks one million steps ahead. I’m focused only on him. We’ll see if Josh Taylor gives him a fight without him having any belts and coming off a loss to the Aussie.

“People say it’s been a long camp, but I am always in the gym, always training and preparing. I live in the gym, and I don’t take a day off, so this has just been like every day, I stay focused and retain the tunnel vision. When you are fighting for all the marbles, are you going to take your foot off the pedal? No. I’ve been very patient and we’re here now.

“I’ve got a very smart team and I am very smart at what I do. It’s not my first rodeo, I’ve been in the big fights, I’ve earned this the hard way. But we’re ready, and we’re clever, and the preparation has been great; there’s no burn out or weight issues, nothing, no emotion, just coming here to win the fight and be a real champion.”

Kambosos and Lopez clash on a huge night of action in New York, with chief support provided by the battle for the vacant IBF World Super-Featherweight title between Azinga Fuzile (15-1 9 KOs) and Kenichi Ogawa (25-1-1 28 KOs).

Raymond Ford (9-0-1 5 KOs) clashes with Felix Caraballo (13-3-2 9 KOs) over ten rounds, Reshat Mati (11-0 7 KOs) fights on home turf against Nicholas Pablo Demario (15-5-3 9 KOs) over eight rounds, Chinese Heavyweight Zhilei Zhang (22-0-1 17 KOs) takes on Craig Lewis (14-4-1 8 KOs) over eight rounds, Ramla Ali (3-0) makes it back to back fights in America in a six rounder against Isela Vera (1-0) and there’s a second female fight on the card with New York’s own Christina Cruz (1-0) meets Maryguenn Vellinga (3-1-2 2 KOs) over four rounds.

“I want to thank Matchroom for giving me the opportunity. I earned this opportunity as a result of having won this title against Jelena Mrdjenovich. My life has changed by being here. Now I am a representative of this belt, and I came to defend it as the great featherweight champion that I am.”

“We are Mexican, and we always give everything in the ring. I know we are going to deliver a fight in which neither person will want to take a step back, but at the same time I came to defend my title. We are going to show what we are made of. We’ve come to show that we are warriors.”

Melissa Esquivel, World Title Challenger:

“I feel happy. Very cheerful. We know what this fight against Erika represents. I come with the mentality and all the desire in the world to be able to deliver a good fight and, God willing, take the belt.”

“It is very difficult to fight a champion. First of all, you have to have the level of a champion, because if you do not have the level of a champion, they will not give you the fight. So, it is very difficult. This training has been very strong. And it’s not just the training; psychologically, it represents something very important to me. I am ready for this and for even bigger things.”

Angel Fierro, NABO Lightweight Champion:

“It is going to be a war. Whenever two Mexicans get into the ring, it is a guaranteed war. I think it’s going to be a good fight. The winners will be the people who watch this fight. I look forward to a great performance this Friday between Cristian Bielma and me.”

“It is a dream come true. I have been working since I was five years old since my career as an amateur. And now being on this stage as a champion with Matchroom is very motivating. I am going to deliver a very good fight and show that I am ready to be a world champion. “

Cristian Bielma, Lightweight Contender:

“I started to follow him when scored the upset in Puerto Rico. Lightweight is my division, so logically I’ve been paying attention to the champions at this weight. He is a great fighter. I’m excited to fight him. I look forward to a great fight. We are very ready for this battle.”

“I’ve been in boxing for 11 years, so I’ve been looking for an opportunity like this for so long. And now the wait is over. Here is my chance. I am going to enjoy the process. I’m going to go all out in the ring.”

‘LET’S GO CHAMP!!!’ TEMPERS BLAZE IN EXPLOSIVE FINAL PRESS CONFERENCE FOR TRIAD COMBAT

Arlington, TX (November 24, 2021) With social media calling it ‘The Best Press Conference Ever’ just three days prior to the highly anticipated debut of Triad Combat set for this Saturday, November 27 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, TX, all fighters met the media at a packed final press conference with an over-heated atmosphere headed by their Team Captains, Shannon ‘Let’s GO Champ’ Briggs for boxing and Quentin ‘Rampage’ Jackson.

Hosted by Hall of Fame Ring Announcer Michael Buffer and the Voice of Triller Fight Club,

Ray Flores, the Captains wasted no time in leading the way for a truly explosive and memorable press conference in Dallas, TX today.

Below are quotes from the participants;

Shannon Briggs: ‘Rampage Jackson is scared to fight me and he’s leading a scared group of fighters on Saturday night. He talks tough like most of the MMA guys. Look at my Team, they’re all top-notch boxers. Mike Seals is a true animal and he’s going to destroy Mike Perry on Saturday night. Perry, you just talked yourself into a hospital visit, these are the best strikers in the world. Frank Mir, I respect you but Kubrat Pulev is going to knock you out very badly on Saturday night.”

“Rampage is leading them all into the fire on Saturday night. Order this on PPV if you’re not in Dallas and then the next one is Rampage and me.”

Rampage’ Jackson: “I don’t know any of these boxers, but I know all these MMA guys and they’re all stone-cold killers. The MMA fighters are the toughest fighters on the planet. Keep on underestimating us and we’ll beat you on Saturday night.”

“Shannon is good at getting underneath my skin but these warriors on my side will shut up him up for good on Saturday night.”

“Of course, I’ll fight this clown, anytime we can put it together with Triller for Triad Combat.

Kubrat Pulev: “Boxers are much more precise in our striking, we should win every fight on Saturday night. These MMA fighters don’t stand a chance.”

Frank Mir: “I’m always the predator going after the biggest hunt and Saturday night against Kubrat Pulev will be no different. We taped out the triangle, it’s 26 feet long. I’ll know exactly how to be victorious on Saturday night.”

Mike Mitrione: “No one has ever slept me and it’s not happening this Saturday night to this skinny dude Flores. I can’t wait to punch him in the face on Saturday night and he can’t wait to do the same to me. Look at the dude Flores over there with those skinny legs shaking, he knows the beating ahead of him this Saturday night.”

Alexander Flores: “I’ve been training for a fight for 16 weeks, sparred over 100 rounds, once I got the offer I said let’s do it. Mitrione is standing in my path and I will destroy him on Saturday night.”

‘Platinum’ Mike Perry: “I’m going to f*** this dude up on Saturday night and somebody might die. I’m just focused on what I always do, hurt people and entertain the fans. That’s what people want from me and that’s what they get, satisfaction guaranteed from Mike Perry.”

Mike Seals: “Clearly this dude has no clue what he’s gotten himself into. I’m going to destroy Mike Perry on Saturday night.”

Fighter Locker boxers have plenty to be thankful for this year

BOSTON (November 24, 2021) – Fighter Locker boxers have plenty to be thankful for this Thanksgiving because their manager, Ryan Roach, has been “feeding” them throughout 2021 despite COVID-19 restrictions.

While most promotional free agents have had trouble getting on cards, Roach has placed his fighters on a wide variety of shows this year in Mexico, South Carolina, Georgia, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Texas, Wyoming, Florida, Alabama, and Dominican Republic.

“I have been pretty fortunate to keep my guys active with relationships I have built with promoters,” Roach said. “It takes a lot to keep them all rolling, and I try to rotate which fighters fight where and how often. I just tell them stay ready, in the gym, and I will keep you active. Activity is one of the keys to success. it is the only way a fighter can get better, keep going in the right direction, and reach the goals we have set for them. When the pandemic hit, I wasn’t sure what I was going to do, but I didn’t sit back and wait. “I got on the phone and created opportunities for my fighters. We traveled a lot as a team and won a lot of fights. Daniel Bailey has fought nine times in the last year. He may be boxing’s most active fighter. I promised my fighters that I would keep them busy, and I couldn’t let them down. I am honored to represent each and every one of them. 2022 should be a lot of fun for us at Fighter Locker!”

The biggest benefactor, at least in terms of international exposure, is Irish light heavyweight prospect Tommy “The Kid” O’Toole (2-0, 2 KOs), who registered a sensational first-round knockout of Mark Malone (1-1) last weekend in Manchester, New Hampshire, fighting on the Andrade-Quigley undercard of Matchroom Boxing’s high-profile event streamed live on DAZN.

Last weekend in the Boston suburb or Dedham, undefeated Florida featherweight “The Dedication” Daniel Bailey, Jr. improved to 9-0 (5 KOs), including 7-0 (4 KOs) in 2021 with another fight scheduled December 4 in Pell City, Alabama.

Colorado super middleweight “The Amazing” Shawn McCalman (10-0, 6 KOs) is 4-0 (2 KOs) this year including the ABF American West title, 2-time Dominican Republic Olympian lightweight Leonel de los Santos (4-0, 4 KOs) won two fights in 2021 sandwiched between training and fighting in the Tokyo Olympics, and Boston featherweight Troy Anderson, Jr. (3-0, 2 KOs) made his pro debut earlier this year and added two more fights.

Other Fighter Locker boxers who’ve remained busy include New Haven (CT) super welterweight Jimmy “Quiet Storm” Williams (18-6-2, 6 KOs/2-1, 1 KO in 2021), Kansas welterweight Marcus Davidson (2-0, 2 KOs/2-0, 2 KOs), Texas super lightweight Miranda “La Alacrana” Reyes (5-0-1, 2 KOs/2-0-1, 2 KOs), and Utah’s Chairez brothers, super lightweight Gabriel (8-1-1, 5 KOs/2-1, 1 KO) and lightweight Gabriel (4-0-1, 3 KOs/1-0-1, 1 KO).

JAKE PAUL VS. TOMMY FURY U.K. MEDIA EVENT QUOTES

NEW YORK – November 24, 2021 – International superstar Jake “The Problem Child” Paul and U.K. reality TV star Tommy “TNT” Fury continued their war of words at a press event Wednesday in Morecambe, England. The two professional boxers will settle their months-long rivalry in the ring when they put their undefeated records on the line in the main event of a SHOWTIME PPV event live from AMALIE Arena in Tampa, Fla. on Saturday, December 18.

Fury was joined on stage by his older brother, WBC Heavyweight World Champion Tyson, and father and trainer John. Paul, who is in the midst of training camp in Puerto Rico, joined the event virtually. Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, also appeared at Wednesday’s event virtually.

Tickets for the live event, titled #PaulFury: One Will Fall, are available for purchase now at www.amaliearena.com.

Below are quotes from Paul, Tommy Fury, Tyson Fury and Warren.

Jake Paul

“Training camp is good. I’m pretty much on vacation. We started this training camp two months before these professional fighters started theirs. So we got a head start and we’re cruising along. We’re coasting and this is the best I’ve ever felt.

“They are underestimating me to the highest degree. They can try to teach this kid up as much as they want in a short amount of time but that’s not the way boxing works. Tommy is green. Tyson is trying to train him like a champion but the kid is not a champion.

“I think Tyson should be paid Tommy’s purse because he’s promoting the fight more than Tommy is. It’s nice to have somebody on the other side of the promotion who actually has a following because I’ve been promoting all of these fights by myself. Finally Tyson Fury steps up to the plate and does some promoting. I’m sick and tired of carrying promotions by myself so thank you Tyson, I tip my hat to you. But I’m going to steal all of your fans. I’m going to knock out your brother and be on my merry way. Another payday. Another speed bump on the way to becoming a world champion and the biggest prizefighter in the world.

“These people think they can come in and beat me because they have amateur careers or they’re professional this or they’re UFC that. They don’t understand what they’re getting in there with. It’s funny to see each and every one of them fail in front of the world and the same exact thing is going to happen to Tommy. To me, this is an easier fight than Tyron [Woodley]. This is a young kid who has never had a real fight and I’m going to knock him out. He doesn’t have a chin. He’s never even been hit hard by anybody.”

Tommy Fury

“I’m feeling good. Fit, ripped and ready to go as always. I’ve done hard work on the road. Hard work in the gym. I’m sparring top-quality operators. Olympians, world champions.

“Hype doesn’t win fights. Talking doesn’t win fights. Fighting wins fights. That’s as simple as it is. I’m not engaged in all this. I’ve not been on Instagram because I don’t care. I don’t care what he says, does or thinks. It’s not important because when he jumps through them ropes on December 18 and he realizes I’m not a YouTuber, I’m not a basketball player, I’m not a wrestler, I’m not a UFC fighter, and he gets hit with a nice sharp jab square in his jaw, he’s going to be thinking, ‘What have I signed myself up for here?’”

“I can guarantee in four or five rounds, he’s going to say, ‘B.J. [Flores], pull me out!’ This is easy money for me. Thank you for taking the fight. I’ve won the lottery. I’m going to rob the bank and I’m not going to go to jail for it. So thank you very much. Don’t pull out and I’ll see you December 18.

“You want to pay me millions of pounds to go over there and fight somebody that looks like him? 100 percent, sign me up. This is easy money because this is a bum who cannot fight. I’m going to show that on December 18. When he gets in that ring against me, he’s going to find his level. He’s going to be out of there in the first round because he cannot fight. He can’t dream about beating me.”

Tyson Fury

“This is entertainment. These two young fellas are going to go out there and put it all on the line. Somebody is going to get beaten. Someone’s ‘O’ has got to go and that’s how boxing works. Jake is over there in Puerto Rico training hard. Tommy is here in Morecambe training hard. On December 18, poor old Jake Paul is going to get severely knocked out and that’s it.”

Frank Warren

“For me, this is very exciting because I’ve never been involved in anything like this. This is an ongoing social media feud and it’s brewing and it’s getting worse and worse. Come the night, all the talking will be done. What you’re going to see is somebody in Jake Paul who has done brilliantly in the way he’s promoted himself, he obviously takes it seriously as a boxer, but he doesn’t have any amateur background. And then you have Tommy who does have an amateur background and comes from a traditional boxing family and he’s had several fights as a pro.

“This is a real reality check as far as Jake is concerned. And also for Tommy. Because I expect Tommy to win this fight. I expect him to come through and be successful. But Jake obviously has a big point to prove to everybody. I take my hat off to Jake because he is stepping up to the plate. This is going to be in front of the world. It’s going to be a huge audience. The fact of the matter is, the winner of this fight – which I believe will be Tommy – is going to be one of the most famous people on the planet. They have everything to go for. I’m so excited to see what the outcome is going to be.

“I was skeptical. Absolutely, I was. But I went to Tommy’s last fight when Daniel Dubois was on the card and what amazed me was from the time the doors opened, the place was full. Everybody sat there and watched every fight. Whatever way you want to look at it, Jake brought a new audience to boxing. For boxing, that’s brilliant and I hope it continues to be the case.”

Heavyweight Contender Andrey Fedosov injures Bicep; Out of December 2nd fight with Junior Wright

PHILADELPHIA (November 24, 2021)-Heavyweight contender Andrey Fedosov (32-3, 26 KOs) injured his bicep which will force him out of the December 2nd fight with Junior Wright, which was scheduled to take place at The Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, and live on Triller.

The bout was scheduled to be contested for the USBA and WBO Global Heavyweight titles.

“Its unfortunate that I tore my bicep. I was so ready, and was looking forward to this fight. My manager Alex Vaysfeld and promoter Banner Promotions worked hard on making this fight. I will be back in February or March,” said Fedosov

“It’s disappointing that Andrey got hurt as I know how confident he was coming off his big win in April. It is just a small bump in the road as he will back in early 2022, and I speak on behalf of Banner Promotions and Newsboy Promotions that Andrey will be in-line for a major fight next year,” said Artie Pelullo, President of Banner Promotions.

World-Rated Russian Bantamweight Nikolai Potapov Continues Hunt for a Monster by Taking on South Africa’s Sabelo Ngebinyana On December 19 in Moscow

(November 24, 2021) On Sunday, December 19, WBO #4-, IBF #6-, and WBC #14-ranked bantamweight contender Nikolai Potapov of Russia will continue his hunt for a monstrous challenge by facing rugged South African Sabelo Ngebinyana in a 10-round showdown at USC Soviet Wings Stadium in Moscow, Russia.

Fighting in the co-main event of another card presented by promoter Shamir Petrossian of Shamo Boxing, Potapov (23-2-1, 11 KOs) from Podolsk, Russia will be looking to make Ngebinyana (13-5, 10 KOs) from Cape Town one of the final steps up the ladder before his dream match-up: undefeated IBF and WBA World Champion Naoya “Monster” Inoue.

“I look forward to putting on another great performance,” said Potapov of the upcoming battle. “I am staying busy in the ring and active in the gym. The man I want most is known as the ‘Monster,’ Inoue from Japan.”

30-year-old Potapov’s only legitimate loss was to then champion Omar Andres Narvaez in 2017. He was the victim of a highly dubious majority decision “loss” to a then streaking Joshua Greer Jr in 2019 for the NABO Championship… a decision widely panned by global boxing fans. Potapov has gone on to win four consecutive fights.

“Nikolai is one of the best bantamweights in the world,” said his promoter, Dmitriy Salita of Salita Promotions. “He is world rated in all of the organizations and is on a cusp of a big world title fight. Another win will get Nikolai one step closer.”

In the night’s main event, undefeated Russian welterweight Vitaly Petryakov (11-0, 8 KOs) from Zainsk, Russia, will look to continue his rise against once-beaten South African Jabulani Makhense (11-1, 5 KOs).
