“I really didn’t have a family that was together to celebrate Thanksgiving when I was young, but now I have my two little daughters, so I’m definitely looking forward to the holidays. I’m going to miss Thanksgiving because of the fight, but Christmas is going to be big this year.

“It’s always great to be able to help out. I was always looking for someone to help me when I was a kid, so to be in a position to help others now really means a lot.

“This is going to be an exciting fight. Cruz comes to fight each and every time. I’m just waiting to see what he brings to the table on December 5, and we’ll capitalize off of his mistakes.

“Cruz coming forward could make the fight a lot easier for me, but there are definitely challenges with that style too. He comes forward with his head a lot. I’m definitely going to be ready for that.

Fulton struck first, dominating then-unbeaten Angelo Leo to capture the WBO title in January, while Figueroa made his own statement in stopping two-division champion Luis Nery to capture the WBC strap in May.

“I’m just happy it’s fight week finally. It’s been a long road with two training camps. Everything is going well and I’ve come back stronger than ever. We are days away from this huge fight and I feel like it’s going to be ‘Fight of the Year’. It’s going to steal the show. ]I’m coming with everything.

“It would mean everything to become a unified champion. I’m here to represent and to bring back another belt for my city and for my family. It would mean everything to me. That’s why I’ve been working really hard and I know once I accomplish that it would just be another dream come true.

“He’s wrong if he thinks he’s going to stop me inside nine rounds. I’m a fighter. Some people say that I have terrible defense, yet I’m still undefeated. I’m still knocking out world champions and former world champions. This will be no different. It’s going to be the same story as always.

A lot of people underestimated me against [Luis] Nery but my game plan was to go out there and dominate and do what I had to do, and I went and got him out of there. This time is no different. It’s the same story. People underestimate me so much that I don’t even care anymore. I know what my abilities are. My team knows my abilities and my potential. I know what I’m capable of inside the ring, even though I don’t look like a fighter. That’s my style. I just go out there and do what I have to do and have fun doing it. I’m excited to do it again.

“I think I have the power advantage. I always do. That’s the reason why I have the knockouts. My opponents feel as if I don’t have power before they get in there. But once they feel it, they feel it. I know how to work in those sneaky body shots. I know how to overwhelm them with power, speed and combinations. It’s all part of my arsenal and November 27 it’s all going to come together. All my hard work and everything I’ve been working towards; I’m going to let everything go.

“He’s a skillful fighter. He’s slick. He’s fast. We know that. Obviously, we just have to go in there and take those attributes away. Take nothing away from Stephen, he’s a great fighter. He’s at where he’s at for a reason. But we’ve studied him really well. Props to him for becoming a world champion and getting this far, but I feel like this is my time.

“I have to use my height and reach and just make sure I go in there with a game plan. I always go in there with three or four game plans. I know a lot of people say that I don’t use my height or my reach. But I feel like I do a good job using it on the inside. Sometimes I don’t care to use it on the outside, but this fight is going to take a little bit of everything, and I’ll have to make full use of my height, reach, power, size and everything that makes me the fighter I am.

“I’m just ready to get it on and represent Mexico, represent my city and everybody back home. I’m ready to make my family proud and I’m excited to get in there and leave everything in the ring. You guys will see who wants it more.”

STEPHEN FULTON JR.

“My resume is better [than Figueroa’s] and I feel comfortable saying that. I’ve taken risks since the beginning of my career. I’ve faced undefeated fighters that no one wanted to face. I’ve taken the harder road to get to this fight.

“This has been a great training camp. We’re ready to go. Everything is in motion and I’m just extremely prepared. I can’t wait to put on a great performance.

“Being unified champion would mean a lot to me. I can become the first unified super bantamweight champion from Philadelphia on Saturday night. This win means everything to me.

“People have yet to see the best of me. They’ve yet to see that I like to fight toe-to-toe. I just don’t think this fight is going to last that long. He has the power to wear you down, but I’m the kind of fighter who can overcome anything. I highly believe in my abilities and my intelligence.

“This is my first fight back with fans in two years. There’s so much excitement for it. I’ve been preparing for this fight since June and I don’t think it’s going the distance.

“I’m his biggest fight to date. I’m his biggest test. I’m not like any of the other fighters that he faced before. He knows that and everyone around him knows that. Just watch what I do when I have my back against the wall.

“This boils down to who wants it the most. The power, the strength and the speed can all die down during a fight. All that’s left is who wants it the most. This isn’t just about being unified champion, it’s about this man believing that he can beat me. That’s what motivates me.

“He doesn’t have any quit in him and I appreciate that. I hate quitters and I don’t have any quit in me either. He always fights his fight and applies pressure well. He knows how to use angles and he’s got to this point for a reason.

“I’m used to being in uncomfortable positions, but I’ve had great support from my team and family and friends and that will be with me on fight night.

“Figueroa is going to engage with me more than most of my past opponents have. Him fighting with the style he likes to use is going to bring out more of what I can do.

“I already know that I’m the top guy at 122-pounds. It’s just a matter of days until everyone will see that. I’m not focused on my position in the division or what’s at stake. I’m just focused on defeating an opponent who believes he can beat me.”

The event is headlined by undefeated super bantamweight world champions squaring off as WBC champion Brandon “Heartbreaker” Figueroa and WBO champion Stephen “Cool Boy Steph” Fulton Jr. meet in a title unification live on SHOWTIME® in the main event of the telecast beginning at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.

The non-televised lineup will also see Reno, Nevada’s Kenny Davis Jr. (7-2-1, 3 KOs) in a six-round lightweight duel against McAllen, Texas-native Nelson Hampton (7-4, 4 KOs), the pro debut of 19-year-old Albert Gonzalez as he takes on Washington, D.C.’s Chamar Flowers (1-1) in a four-round featherweight bout and Macon, Georgia’s Mikhail Montgomery (3-0, 2 KOs) in a four-round featherweight fight.

The 28-year-old Alameda (25-2, 13 KOs) will look to return to form on November 27 after back-to-back defeats. Alameda was able to end Luis Nery’s knockout streak in September 2020, losing by decision in a vacant world title fight, and most recently dropped a narrow decision to former champion Angelo Leo in June. Prior to the Nery fight, the Sonora, Mexico native had back-to-back knockouts over Jordan Escobar and Breilor Teran. A pro since 2014, his previous action in the U.S. prior to his two most recent fights saw him earn a sixth-round knockout over Andre Wilson in 2016. He will be opposed by the 27-year-old Contreras (11-4-2, 6 KOs), who most recently scored an upset victory in August over previously unbeaten John Dato. The Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico native has fought three times in 2021, battling the undefeated Jalan Walker to a split-draw in April and losing a decision to Ramon Cardenas in February.

Fighting out of Los Angeles, California, the 29-year-old Myrthil (17-0, 13 KOs) discovered boxing at age 18, after his family relocated from Haiti to the United States. Following a stellar amateur career, Myrthil made his pro debut in January 2017 with a second-round TKO over Allan Varela in Tijuana, Mexico. In September 2019, he won an eight-round unanimous decision over Jonathan Steele in Las Vegas. The performance caught the eye of Floyd Mayweather, who sat ringside for that bout and ultimately signed Myrthil to his Mayweather Promotions outfit. Most recently, Myrthil outpointed Johnny Rodriguez over eight rounds in February 2020. He will be facing the Detroit-native Johnson (9-2, 5 KOs), who now lives and trains in Las Vegas. The 29-year-old returns to action after defeating the previously unbeaten Luis Salazar by knockout in May. Johnson has fought professionally since 2016 and his two career defeats have come to then-unbeaten fighters Richardson Hitchins and Fazliddin Gaibnazarov.

LAS VEGAS (November 23, 2021) – Too much is at stake for “Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez for the undefeated Mexican to look past his December 18th showdown with Yunieski “The Monster” Gonzalez (21-3, 17 KOs) to World Boxing Association Light Heavyweight World Champion Dmitry Bivol.

Not only is a mandatory challenger position at stake against Cuba-born Gonzalez, the perfect 42-0 (28 KOs) record is also on the line for “Zurdo” in his 12-round WBA Light Heavyweight Title Eliminator streaming live from San Antonio (TX) on DAZN. Ramirez’ promoter, Golden Boy Promotions, is presenting this event.

“I never look past any of my opponents, so I don’t have to avoid looking past Gonzalez in this fight,” Ramirez said. “I know Gonzalez is a come-forward fighter who likes to bang and fight, so I need to be careful with my approach. Just like any other fighter, my preparation for this fight has not changed. My team and I are still focused and never look beyond what’s in front of me.”

Gonzalez, 36, has won his last three fights, five of six, including the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) Fedelatin Light Heavyweight Championship two fights ago, which he captured with a second-round knockout of Alex Theran (22-4) in Miami.

“He’s the No. 2 Cuban light heavyweight,” Ramirez added. “He’s been a problem to others, so I’ll need to be my best. No fighters are the same. I know Gonzalez likes to come forward more than your traditional Cuban fighter, but who knows what his style will look like on fight night? I’m preparing for all possibilities and hope to put on a show for the fans on December 18th.”

Ramirez, the first Mexican to capture the World super middleweight crown, is rated No. 4 by the WBA, Gonzalez No. 5. Their only common opponent is Tommy Karpency, who retired after the fourth round in 2019 to “Zurdo,” and he was stopped by Yunieski in the second round this past September.

“I’m confident in my training and preparation for this fight,” Ramirez concluded. “I’m ready for an all-out war, or a great boxing match. But, as always, I’m looking to finish him and get the KO victory.”

Newark, NJ / Manchester, NH (November 22nd 2021)–Five fighters from the DKO Management stable all came out victorious with four knockouts in Newark, New Jersey and a unanimous decision in Manchester, New Hampshire.

At the Robert Treat Hotel in Newark, super middleweight Elvis Figueroa, super featherweight William Foster III, junior welterweight Jeffrey Torres and featherweight Felix Parrilla all scored impressive stoppage victories.

Figueroa stopped Arsenio Hall at 39 seconds of round two. Figueroa dropped Hall twice in the opening round, and dropped Hall for a third and the fight was stopped.

Figueroa of New Haven, Connecticut is now 9-0 with six knockouts. Hall was stopped for the first time and is now 3-5.

Foster moved to 13-0 with nine knockouts by taking out Pedro Hernandez in the opening round. Foster scored one knockdown, and the New Haven native will look for a high profile fight in the beginning of 2022.

Torres dropped Rosekie Cristobal three times in his 2nd round stoppage to improve to 9-1 with five knockouts. Cristobal falls to 15-6.

Parrilla went to 2-0 with two knockouts as he needed just 45 seconds to take out Dakota Laster.

Figueroa, Foster, Torres and Parrilla are co-managed by Marilyn Rosa, trained by Luis Rosa and are promoted by KO Night Boxing.

At the SNHU Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire, Nelson Perez remained undefeated with a four-round unanimous decision over Raymundo Rios in a junior welterweight bout.

In round one, Perez dropped Rios with a left hook. In round two, Perez sent Rios down again with a left hook.

Perez, 140 lbs of Marlboro, MA won by scores of 40-34 on all cards, and is now 5-0. Rios, 139.6 lbs of Mexico is 3-8-2.

NEW YORK (NOVEMBER 22, 2021)–This Past weekend, four Split-T Management fighters picked up victories including Kali Reis defending WBA/IBO Super Lightweight titles and picking up the WBO title in the process.

The winning ways started off on Thursday night as Sonny Conto remained undefeated, and thrilled his hometown fans by scoring a third-round stoppage over Joel Caudle at the inaugural boxing card at the Live Casino Hotel Philadelphia.

Caudle stood in and landed some flush shots. Conto gave as good as he received as he rocked Caudle several times over the first two rounds. In round three, Caudle continued to stand in and wanted to trade with the bigger Conto., but Conto landed a huge right hand that sent Caudle to the deck. Caudle got to his feet, but was wobbly, and referee Benjy Esteves stopped the fight at the end of round three.

Conto, 220.2 lbs. of Philadelphia is 8-0 with seven knockouts. Caudle, 257.1 lbs. of Raleigh, NC is 8-6-2.

Friday night at the SNHU Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire, Kali Reis retained her WBA/IBO Super Lightweight titles and added the vacant WBO Title with a thrilling split-decision over fellow Split-T fighter Jessica Camara.

Camara started strong and was able to get in some good left hooks. Reis came on down the stretch and showed championship experience.

In round 10, Camara was badly cut over her left eye.

The two waged a vicious war in that 10-round as Reis landed some hard punches.

Reis landed 158 of 556 punches; Camara was 159 of 547.

Reis, 138 lbs. of Providence, RI won by scores of 97-93 twice with Camara taking a card 95-94

Reis is now 19-7-1. Camara, 139 lbs. of Montreal, raised her stock in defeat, is 8-3.

Reis, who is promoted by DiBella Entertainment. will now take on Chantelle Cameron for the undisputed title.

Also in Manchester, light heavyweight Khalil Coe fought to a four-round draw with Aaron Casper

Saturday night in Las Vegas, 2021 United States Olympian Tiger Johnson made a successful pro debut with a 4th round stoppage over Antonius Grable in a welterweight bout.

Johnson worked a solid right hand behind an effective jab. In round four, Johnson landed a hard right that rocked Grable that was ruled a knockdown. Johnson jumped on Grable and landed several clipping rights to the chin that hurt Grable, and the fight was stopped at 1:54.

Johnson of Cleveland, and is promoted by Top Rank, is 1-0 with one knockout. Grable of Sarasota, Florida is 3-2-1.

Also Saturday in Philadelphia, heavyweight Devon Young made it 2-0 with a unanimous decision over Nicoy Clarke at The 2300 Arena.

Young, who is promoted by King’s Promotions, pounded away at a game Clarke and won by scores of 40-36 cards.

Young of Aiken, South Carolina is 2-0. Clarke of Jersey City, NJ is 2-7.

Split-T Management will have it’s undisputed Lightweight World champion Teofimo Lopez defend his titles this Saturday night, November 27th against George Kambosos Jr. at The Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden and Live on DAZN.

LAS VEGAS – November 22, 2021 – Undefeated WBO 122-pound world champion Stephen Fulton Jr. and unbeaten top contender Ra’eese Aleem previewed their respective showdowns during a Las Vegas media roundtable on Saturday, before they enter the ring in separate attractions live on SHOWTIME this Saturday, November 27 in a Premier Boxing Champions event from Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas.

“Once I turned pro, I was on the path to becoming world champion. I’ve won a world title in the division I turned pro in, and now I’m unifying in my first fight as champion. I want to keep pushing forward and become undisputed at this weight class.

“My ability to adjust and outthink Figueroa is going to be the difference. That’s not to mention my speed and underrated power. I know Figueroa is going to throw a lot of punches, but I’m going to make him miss and capitalize on his mistakes.

“Everyone has a different path and for me that’s been taking dangerous fights against undefeated opponents. That’s made me a better fighter. Maybe I shouldn’t have taken some of those fights, but now I’ve got this resume that can stack up against anybody.”

“I’m extremely excited to be back doing what I love to do and to be fighting on a big SHOWTIME card. I’ve been getting great sparring out here in Las Vegas and I’m absolutely ready for Saturday.

“I’ve been working on really taking my time in the ring. Even if I’m being aggressive, I’m still taking my time while doing that. If I had taken my time against Vic Pasillas in my last fight, I would have stopped him in the sixth round. I was pushing the pace when I didn’t have to.

“I would love to fight Stephen Fulton. I believe that I’m the best in the division and some people think that he’s the best. If he wins this fight and I win Saturday, that’s the fight I want next. I’m ready to make it happen.

BOSTON (November 22, 2021) – Irish light heavyweight prospect Tommy “The Kid” O’Toole delivered the most devastating knockout from this past weekend in only his second pro fight, when he put Mark Malone (1-1) to sleep midway through the opening round, fighting on the Andrade-Quigley undercard of Matchroom Boxing’s high-profile event streamed live on DAZN from SHNU Arena in Manchester New Hampshire.

“It was unbelievable fighting in such a big arena with all those fans,” O’Toole spoke about the overall experience of fighting on a major card. Boston’s like a second home for any Irish fighter, especially one from Connemara, because the people from my town are so supportive.”

O’Toole, who is managed by Ryan Roach’s Fighter Locker, had a fellow Connemara fighter in his corner, cut-man Sean Mannion, who lived and fought out of Boston. Mannion (42-14-1, 13 KOs – 1978-93) gained the utmost respect of boxing fans in Ireland and Boston for his toughness, especially after going 15 hard rounds with future Hall of Famer Mike “The Bodysnatcher” McCallum for the vacant World Boxing Association Super Welterweight World title.

The 23-year-old O’Toole (2-0, 2 KOs), fighting out of Galway, Ireland, had a great opportunity to showcase his skills on a worldwide platform and he took full advantage, destroying Malone with powerhouse left hooks. “The Kid” even missed his graduation from Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology, held the same day as his fight.

“It was 100-percent okay missing my graduation,” O’Toole said. “I still got my degree and it’s what matters.”

The end of the O’Toole-Malone fight ended abruptly as hurt Malone with a left hook and soon afterwards closed the show with the same punch. There was great concern for Malone, who was out cold before he hit the mat, as he lay there being attended to by the ringside physician.

“I hit him with the first left hook and his knees wobbled,” O’Toole described the action. “I hit him with a good shot, but I didn’t want to get too excited. I knew then that I was going to take him out. I set-up another left hook and I knew he was knocked out.

“I got a little nervous because the referee was counting. I thought he should be getting the doctor in the ring. The fight wasn’t going to continue.”

“I am really proud of what Thomas did on such a big stage,” Roach commented. “He opened a lot of doors for himself with a highlight reel knockout. He told me right before he went out that he was born for this. He was right! He is such a gifted fighter with power in both hands and his footwork was very impressive. We are hoping for a January fight date, but it could be sooner after what he did the other night.”

O’Toole won his pro debut this past September 25th in the Boston suburb of Dedham, in which he knocked down Francisco Ariri Neto three times for a spectacular first-round knockout.

Now back home in Ireland, O’Toole said he’d take a few days off and then return to the gym. He hopes to be back fighting again in January.

Despite the late change of opponent, Horn, who returns to action following a unanimous points win over Adam Yahaya on October 2 at The SSE Arena, Wembley, remains focused on the task at hand as he aims to put the Flyweight division on notice with a statement win in East London.  

“I’m buzzing,” said Horn. “I’m really looking forward to it. Obviously, the change of opponent hasn’t been ideal but it’s not bothering me really. I’m experienced enough now to know that no matter what my opponent brings, I should be able to counter it, nullify them, and beat whoever is in front of me.

“I’ve had a little look at my opponent. I’ve seen what he does. I’ve seen he can whack a bit, but I know what I’ve got to do. I’ve got ten rounds to impose my game plan on him and I’m confident I can get the job done. I’ve had a great camp, I’m in great shape and my sparring has been good.

“The ball is rolling now. The main problem in my career so far has been inactivity. There have been opportunities, but I haven’t been pushed. Since signing with Wasserman Boxing, I’ve had two fights in eight weeks. They know that if I’m pushed correctly and kept busy then it’s world honours for me. 

“I did what I said I was going to do in my last fight. It was my first fight back after two years out and I boxed great. Obviously, I was still a bit rusty so there was bound to be things that I didn’t do spot on, but this time, I’ve got no excuses. I’m a fresh, active fighter so this fight should be nothing less than a masterclass. I’m putting that pressure on myself. I believe that with what I’ve been doing in the gym and how good I’m feeling, it’s going to be a masterclass.”

MEXICO CITY (November 22, 2021) – Hard-hitting lightweight contender Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz has embraced the underdog role heading into his showdown against WBA Lightweight Champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis which headlines a SHOWTIME PPV on Sunday, December 5 in a Premier Boxing Champions event from STAPLES Center in Los Angeles.

“I have proven time and time again that my drive and desire to be champion is too big to be ignored,” said Cruz. “This fight won’t be the exception. I am going to pull off the upset and a brand new star will be born on December 5.”

The 23-year-old Cruz has put together a 21-fight unbeaten streak heading into his first world title clash, including most recently defeating former champion Francisco Vargas by unanimous decision live on SHOWTIME in June. Now, as he prepares to face the fast-rising star Davis, Cruz brings the hunger of an underdog into every aspect of his training.

“My motivation to be at my very best for this fight is the biggest key for me day in and day out,” said Cruz. “This is the fight that I’ve always dreamed of. The work we do in the gym, the runs I go on and the conditioning drills I push through, are all fueled by my motivation to make the most of this opportunity.”

The Mexico City-native is the latest in his family’s deep history in the sport, as he follows in the footsteps of his grandfather Memo, his father Isaac Sr., his uncles Eduardo and Guillermo, and his older brother Diego, who all fought professionally. Despite that familial pressure, Cruz was actually initially interested in the sport to keep himself on a positive path in life.

“Boxing was always in my blood, but my main motivation to get into boxing as a kid was steering myself away from bad role models and influences in my neighborhood,” said Cruz. “I was six-years-old when I decided to tag along to the gym one day with my grandpa, and I really liked it. A passion for the sport was born, and now it’s just a full-blown love story between boxing and I.”

In addition to his family, Cruz had heard from the legendary Mexican champion Julio César Chávez before securing the Davis fight. The conversation turned out not only to be prescient, but added another motivating factor for Cruz heading into this fight.

“Chávez told me to make sure I’m always staying ready in case that fight with Gervonta was going to become a reality,” said Cruz. “Afterwards, he told me that I have the courage needed to defeat Gervonta. The fact that he said that to me speaks volumes about the strides I’ve made as a person and as a fighter.”

Cruz will be looking to take advantage of the strong contingent of Mexican and Mexican-American boxing fans in Los Angeles who will surely be in his corner on fight night against Davis. Despite that expected edge, Cruz knows he can’t rely on it to help him in the ring.

“I am so happy to be fighting in Los Angeles with all of the Mexican fans,” said Cruz. “But I have to remember that in the end, it’s just going to be me and Gervonta face-to-face in the ring. Of course it motivates me that I’m going to feel right at home. But I just can’t let it distract me or trick me into becoming overconfident.

“Defeating Gervonta Davis is the only thing on my mind. When I win, I know he’s going to want the rematch and I can promise that I will train twice as hard for that fight when it happens.”
