BILLAM-SMITH – I’M BUILDING TOWARDS WORLD LEVEL

Chris Billam-Smith takes another step towards world level this Saturday November 13 when he makes the maiden defence of his EBU European Cruiserweight Title against Frenchman Dylan Bregeon at the Utilita Arena Sheffield, live worldwide on DAZN

‘The Gentleman’ (13-1, 10 KOs) withstood a late fightback from Tommy McCarthy to edge out a narrow split points decision to add the British and European Cruiserweight Titles to his Commonwealth Title in an epic battle at the Matchroom HQ in July.

The Bournemouth favourite is making great progress under coach Shane McGuigan, who he has trained with since turning pro in September 2017, and believes that he will be knocking on the door for a World Title opportunity in 2022.

“Tommy McCarthy definitely surprised me,” admitted Billam-Smith. “He’s a lot more elusive than I thought he would be. He was hard to nail clean. I thought I’d be able to nail him cleaner, but I didn’t really catch him that clean throughout the fight, even in the fifth or sixth round when I had him hurt a bit he was still very elusive and tricky. He was always coming back with shots. Respect to Tommy. Everything that was said in the build-up was squashed straight after the fight.

“I’m hungrier now more than ever. I know it’s a bit of a cliché statement but I really am. I’m doing a lot more in the gym now. I’m trying to perfect the little things even more so than before. Sometimes I guess I was just getting through sessions but now I’m much more meticulous in my training. I’m putting more hours and rounds in. I’m spending more time in the gym and that might be because I’m settled up here now around the corner in Stratford. The future is exciting for me and I’m just really pushing on towards that world level.

“When you get announced as a defending champion – current British, Commonwealth and European – that will be a nice moment for me. I try and appreciate those moments as much as I can. You sort of can’t really do that in the moment. You watch it back on TV and then you can appreciate it a bit more because you’re switched on in the moment. It’s a nice feeling to hear those words.”

Billam-Smith vs. McCarthy is part of a big night of action in Sheffield, Kid Galahad (28-1, 17 KOs) makes the maiden defence of his IBF Featherweight World Title against former World Champion Kiko Martinez (42-10-2, 29 KOs), WBC and IBO Super-Featherweight ruler Terri Harper (11-0-1, 6 KOs) returns to put her belts on the line against the USA’s Alycia Baumgardner (10-1, 6 KOs), Donte Dixon (5-0, 3 KO) squares off with Jordan McCorry (19-7-1, 4 KOs) in an eight-round Super-Featherweight contest, James Flint (9-0-1, 2 KOs) battles DomHunt (7-0, 1 KO) for the vacant Central Area Welterweight Title, plus there’s action for Harper’s sparring partner Raven Chapman (1-0, 1 KO), Sheffield Light-Heavyweight Khalid Ayub (1-0), Oldham Bantamweight debutant William Cawley and Kings Lynn Featherweight Stevi Levy (4-0).

CHRISTY MARTIN PROMOTIONS RETURNS WITH MAYHEM IN MYRTLE 4 ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 20 AT CROWN REEF RESORT AND WATERPARK IN MYRTLE BEACH, SC

On Saturday, November 20, at the beautiful Crown Reef Resort and Waterpark in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Christy Martin Promotions will proudly present “Mayhem In Myrtle 4,” a night of world-class professional boxing action.

In the night’s six-round main event, popular undefeated super featherweight Benigno “Benny” Aguilar (6-0, 3 KOs) from Crescent City, Florida, will face Miami via Managua, Nicaragua’s Julio “El Halconcito” Buitrago (13-32, 3 KOs).

Blessed with an army of supporters, Aguilar always brings a large collective of fans to watch his, thus far, always successful ring exploits. The 22-year-old is a patient counterpuncher with good power and an excellent jab. He will be looking to stay unbeaten against an experienced 47-fight veteran in Buitrago, who turned professional 16 years ago and has fought internationally several times.

General admission tickets for “Mayhem In Myrtle 4” are available for $50 at Eventbrite.com or locally at Beast Boxing Myrtle Beach (3870 S Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach). Ringside Tickets are SOLD OUT.

The co-main event, announced last week at a special press conference in his hometown of Danbury, CT, will feature USA #1 amateur super heavyweight and national champion Fernely Feliz Jr. making his highly anticipated professional debut in a four-rounder against Stephen Kirnon (2-3-1, 1 KO) of Bronx, New York.

Scheduled for action is a six-round welterweight grudge match between Charlotte, North Carolina’s Kristopher Kyle Harrell (8-1, 6 KOs) and Durham, North Carolina veteran Marklin Bailey (6-7, 4 KOs).

And in one of the night’s other highly anticipated supporting bouts, promising undefeated super featherweight DeMichael Harris (5-0, 5 KOs) of Decatur, Georgia, via Cleveland, will put his perfect record on the line against Julio Gomez Leyva (0-1-1) of Norcross, Georgia via La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico.

Also scheduled is a six-round super middleweight bout between undefeated Russian power puncher Artem Brusov (9-0, 8 KOs) and Kannapolis, North Carolina, veteran Courtney McCleave (2-11, 1 KO); as well as an appearance by power-punching 6? 7? Nigerian heavyweight Onoriode “Godzilla” Ehwarieme (18-2, 17 KOs) against an opponent that is TBA.

In a special female attraction, Georgetown, Texas’ undefeated Destiny “Too Sweet” Jones (1-0) will also face pro debuting Shaniqua Frazier in a lightweight four-rounder. 22-year old Jones, from Cedar Park, Texas, had extensive amateur experience including the 2018 Austin Regional Golden Gloves; 2017 Nationals; 2017 Eastern Tournaments; and the USA Boxing Eastern Elite Qualifiers, among many others.

A pair of winless heavyweights, Julio Mendoza (0-1) from Crescent City, Florida, and Franklin, New York’s Drew Nolan (0-2), will each try to get into the win column over four rounds; while two undefeated featherweight prospects, Tampa, Florida’s Daniel “G.D.F.E.” Bailey (8-0, 4 KOs) and Roanoke, Virginia’s Donte Dunnaville (4-0, 3 KOs) will clash in a six-round showdown.

Bailey will be having his seventh fight of 2021, an unusual feat during normal times… a miracle during a pandemic, is the cousin of iron-fisted multi-weight world champion Randall “KO King” Bailey.

In another women’s battle, undefeated Miranda Reyes (4-0-1, 2 KOs) of Houston will return in a four-round super lightweight showdown against Covington, Kentucky’s Camille Casson; and in a four-round welterweight encounter, Alexander Thiel (1-0) of Oakland, California, will face Taylorsville, North Carolina’s Dylan Williams (0-1).

In another six-round middleweight scrap, Saint Petersburg, Florida’s undefeated Richard Graham (3-0-1, 2 KOs) will take on Julian Valerio (3-6, 2 KOs) of Green Cove Springs, Florida via Brooklyn, New York.

Rounding out the action will be a four-round lightweight battle, between Bronx, New York’s once-beaten Brandon Idrogo (4-1, 4 KOs) and winless Roderick Gilkey (0-11-1) of Memphis.

“I am excited about Mayhem 4; the card is loaded with a lot of young talent,” said promoter Christy Martin. “Beningo Aguilar is all-action and crowd-pleasing and I can’t wait to see Fernely Feliz make his professional debut. He has so much positive energy moving with him.”

The Crown Reef Resort and Waterpark is located at 2913 South Ocean Blvd. in Myrtle Beach. On fight night, doors open at 5 pm and the action starts at 6:00 pm.

The event next month will be the first UK promotion by Probellum, a next generation sports company designed to blend promotion, media and content whilst supporting grassroots boxing.

Three-weight world champion Ricky Burns (43-8-1, 16 KOs) will return to action for the first time in over two years when he squares off with Argentina’s Emiliano Dominguez Rodriguez (26-9-1, 10 KOs).

The popular Scottish fighter will join headliner Lewis Ritson, Thomas Patrick Ward and more when Probellum host the star-studded event called ‘Unstoppable’ at the Rainton Arena in Sunderland on Saturday, December 18.

Tickets for the show will be on sale beginning Monday, 15 November and priced at £45, £60, £80, £120, and £160, while broadcast details will be announced in the near future.

Lewis Ritson (21-2, 12 knockouts) makes his highly-anticipated return, as the former British and WBA Intercontinental champion has his first fight under the Probellum promotional banner, taking on Mexico’s Christian Uruzquieta (20-4-2, 7 knockouts).

Undefeated Thomas Patrick Ward (30-0-1, 4 KOs) looks to build on his current rankings of #3 with the WBO, #8 with the IBF and #11 with the WBA and move a step closer to a world title shot, taking on Leonardo Padilla (20-3, 14 KOs), who is ranked #5 with the WBA.

Some of the North East’s best fighters will be on the card too, including talented Mark Dickinson (1-0, 1 KO), and local hero Joe Laws (10-1, 5 KOs), plus Probellum will work alongside promoter Phil Jeffries to see the likes of former English title challenger Joe Maphosa (10-1, 1 KO), plus undefeated pair Terry Wilkinson (8-0), and Adam Cope (1-0) also involved on the bill.

“We’re extremely excited to head to Sunderland with an action-packed night full of massive names on December 18,” said Richard Schaefer, President of Probellum. “With the likes of Lewis Ritson, Ricky Burns, Thomas Patrick Ward and more all on the card, it’s certain to be a memorable atmosphere inside the Rainton Arena.

“It is our second big event in quick succession following our world-title double header Revolution card in Dubai one week earlier, so it means fight fans are being treated to two huge shows on opposite ends of the world in the space of just seven days.

“These are the types of stacked cards that people can come to expect from Probellum moving forward, so we can’t wait to give everybody an event to remember next month.”

BITTER RIVALS CHRIS EUBANK JR AND LIAM WILLIAMS SET TO CLASH CARDIFF ON DECEMBER 11

OFFICIAL WEIGH-IN

Cardiff, Wales (November 11, 2021) The long-running rivalry between Chris Eubank Jr and Liam Williams will be settled in explosive fashion on Saturday, December 11 in a highly-anticipated showdown promoted by BOXXER and Wasserman Boxing at the Motorpoint Arena Cardiff, live and exclusive on Sky Sports.

Eubank (31-2, 23 KO’s) and Williams (23-3, 18 KO’s) both lay claim to being the #1 middleweight in the UK and have traded verbal jabs numerous times in recent years. Now Eubank is taking the fight to Williams’ doorstep as he heads to the Welsh capital city of Cardiff to face the Welshman on home soil.

With both fighters known for having all-action styles and a proven pedigree for finishing fights inside the distance, their December 11 meeting promises to be one of the most electrifying British boxing contests of the year in a fiery England-Wales showdown.

“Liam Williams has been saying a lot to try to catch my attention and bait me into fighting him,” said Eubank Jr. “It’s now got to the point where everyone is asking me to shut him up, and on December 11, I’m going to give the people what they want.

“As I’ve said, I’m only involved in big fights from now on and this is the fight people want to see. They want to see if Williams can back up what he’s been saying – which he won’t. I’m on a mission towards World Titles and Liam Williams is someone I’ve got to go through to get there. I’m looking forward to shutting him up.”

Williams said, “I’m very excited to get the fight made. It’s been coming for a long time. I can’t wait to shut his mouth once and for all. There’s nothing like a big domestic showdown to get the juices flowing. A lot of people have been calling for this fight for a long time. I personally think it’s the biggest all-British fight outside of AJ and Fury.

“I’m really excited and just counting down the days. I’ve not been that impressed with Chris’ recent performances. People are talking about how he’s brought Roy Jones in to improve him but if I’m being totally honest I don’t think he’s improved one bit. A win in this fight and possibly even a stoppage over Eubank and my name is going to be well and truly out there and in the mix for world titles.”

Adam Smith, Sky Sports Head of Boxing Development, remarked, “We’re delighted to deliver a pre-Christmas cracker as Chris Eubank Jr collides with Liam Williams in a huge British battle on December 11, live on Sky Sports.

“Chris Eubank Jr’s world title ambitions will be severely tested by Williams, the fiery Welshman, who dragged WBO Champion Demetrius Andrade into a punishing dogfight earlier this year.

“With their heated feud ready to boil over, Williams will relish the chance to inflict a crushing defeat. Is Eubank Jr ready for the biggest names in the world? We’ll soon find out as Sky Sports serves up a festive treat!”

“This is the fight that everyone has been talking about,” said Wasserman Boxing promoter Kalle Sauerland. “The public demand has been overwhelming. On December 11, Chris Eubank Jr and Liam Williams are finally going to meet in the centre of the ring to settle their differences once and for all. This is without a doubt the biggest fight in British boxing right now.”

“This fight has everything and has been what all the fans have been asking for. It’s an amazing way to end the year for Boxxer on Sky Sports and bringing this type of fight as part of a normal Sky Sports subscription is a very proud moment,” said Ben Shalom, BOXXER founder and CEO.

“They genuinely dislike each other, they both come forward non-stop and Eubank is heading into the dragon’s den to settle their issue on Williams’ home soil. I’ll be amazed if this doesn’t turn out to be British boxing’s fight of the year. A stacked card will sit underneath – Cardiff is in for a very special night.”

The Wasserman Boxing-promoted Eubank fought in Newcastle last month, stopping German challenger Wanik Awdijan with a body shot in the fifth round of their contest. It was Eubank’s second fight and win of the year, following his dominant win over Marcus Morrison in May.

Williams last fought in April this year, when he rode a seven-fight streak of stoppage wins into a world title challenge against WBO Middleweight Champion Demetrius Andrade in Florida. Williams brought the fight to the undefeated defending champion and forced Andrade to dig deep to retain his title by way of judges’ decision.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public tomorrow, Friday November 12 and the two fighters will be present at a press conference in London next week, with details of the conference date and time to be announced shortly.

PHOENIX (November 10, 2021) – Unbeaten two-time world champion and Phoenix native David “El Bandera Roja” Benavídez received a proclamation from Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego at his media workout Wednesday, as the Mayor’s office declared this Saturday, November 13 “David Benavídez Day” in his hometown. The 24-year-old Benavidez will take on contender Kyrone Davis this Saturday night live on SHOWTIME in a Premier Boxing Champions event from Footprint Center in Phoenix.

Benavídez was joined by his older brother José Benavídez, who faces Francisco Emanuel Torres in Saturday’s co-main event, and his father and trainer Jose Benavídez Sr., at Wednesday’s event at Central Boxing Gym.

The event also featured the unveiling of a mural of the Benavídez family outside of the boxing gym in honor of the city’s boxing stars. The Benavídez family were presented the proclamation by Mary Rose Wilcox, the former Chairperson of the Arizona Boxing Commission. Other dignitaries in attendance included Arizona State Representative Cesar Chavez and City of Phoenix Councilperson Laura Pastor.

Tickets for the live event are on sale now and are available for purchase through Ticketmaster.com.

Here is what the participants had to say Wednesday:

DAVID BENAVÍDEZ

“This gym just reminds me of my childhood. All I did from age six to fifteen was train. All of my memories are in boxing. I learned how to be a man because of this place.

“I was born and raised in Phoenix and the fact that I can come back to my hometown and be recognized like this just means the world to me.

“I’ve worked extremely hard for this moment and it’s been a long time coming. I’ve been a professional for almost eight years now. I’ve been putting in work for a long time and I’m excited for the future. A lot of people came out to support us today and it means so much to me. I’m doing it for all of them.

“I’m excited for my brother to come back. His punching power looks good and most importantly, he’s hungry to be back. He’s excited to fight in front of our fans. Having him back in the mix is extra motivation for me.

“I know Kyrone Davis did well in his fight against Anthony Dirrell, and although he doesn’t have much knockout power, he’s never been stopped himself. So I’d like to be the first one to accomplish that. He’s a boxer and counter puncher and he’s definitely a live dog.

“I feel like I’m going to be able to stay at super middleweight for a while. We’re not really struggling to make weight more than anyone else. As long as we have a good routine, I’ll be able to keep making it for a couple more years.”

JOSÉ BENAVÍDEZ

“It means a lot to have the support of my city and it motivates me even more. All the hard work we’ve put in since we were kids is paying off. Seeing this mural gives me even more motivation to keep working toward becoming world champion.

“It feels good to have our whole family honored here. We have a lot of support, but we’re still humble people. I’ve put my life into boxing and I’m going to keep doing that until the day I retire.

“Me and my brother used to come train in this gym every day and we’ve come a long way. We’re both going to keep rising. I want to thank everyone for supporting Team Benavídez. I can’t wait for Saturday night to get in the ring in front of all our people here.

“I have to thank all my fans and everyone who has been supporting me throughout the years. It’s going to be fireworks on Saturday night. I’m coming with a bang and I’m stopping everyone at 154-pounds.”

JOSÉ BENAVÍDEZ SR., David and José’s Father and Trainer

“It hasn’t been easy, but I’m super proud of what David and Jose have been able to accomplish. I’m very thankful to everyone who is out here supporting us. It’s taken a lot of hard work. We’re here to make history and we’re going to continue to keep working hard.

“Jose was always the motivation for David. That was his idol. He just wanted to be next to him, and look where we are now. This Saturday is going to be super special for us.

“We’re fighting in front of our hometown and that has a lot of value for us. Words can’t even describe how we feel. It’s very emotional for me.

“This is a very emotional and motivational experience. It’s like a dream come true. I don’t want to wake up. I never dreamed of them becoming champions, but look where we’re at. Hard work pays off.”

MARY ROSE WILCOX, Former Chairperson of the Arizona Boxing Commission

“This is a great event for the community. Phoenix loves boxing and they love the Benavídez family. I’m so happy that we were able to help highlight them and help get Arizona back into boxing ahead of this big show Saturday night.”

“(Cyborg) is over here playing mind games. You wont even believe what they’re up to. They’re tagging me in that suplex (video). She has these ‘Squid Game’ cards with her face on them and she’s leaving them everywhere I go. She’s leaving them everywhere I go. She’s leaving them in my corner, leaving them on my floor. She’s trying to play her mind games. She’s trying to break me, but she can’t.”

“I was next in line (for this fight) and she was calling out other people. When I got the call, I was emotional because it’s well overdue. I should be here. It was a rollercoaster for me. It’s finally happened, it’s finally here and I’m ready to get going.”

“She gets too much (respect) in the cage. The cage is not to be giving respect, the cage is to fight, and the cage is to be leaving my soul in there and that’s exactly what I’m going to do Friday night.”

“I can’t wait to hit her.”

He’s a kickboxer from Britain and he’s a tough guy in general so I know what he has to offer and I know what he brings to the table. If he tries to wrestle me, we all know how that’s going to go.”

“We’ll have to wait and see what happens at the beginning of next year. We’ll have to see if Bader comes back to defend his title and that will pretty much tell us a lot about where we go and who I should be fighting next. As far as Fedor, he only has one more fight left on his contract, so what do I care who he fights next.”

“I’m definitely happy to be in a different state and a different arena and all of that. I feel like that adds a little more excitement to the fight.”

LINTON VASSELL: NO. 6-RANKED BELLATOR HEAVYWEIGHT

“I am coming off two big wins, so this was obviously the next fight to make. After those two wins, I was destined for a number one contender fight, which is what I think this is because Tyrell is Highly ranked, just like me.  I want to be champ, so why not now?”

“Obviously, the fight will end with me winning in a TKO or a submission. I predict that he will break in the second round, especially if I come in at my best, which I have, and don’t rush. I will be patient, fight my fight and end this fight within the distance.”

“I am not going to lie, that three-fight losing streak was terrible. I even contemplated retirement. I was able to refocus on my weight so I could train properly and not gas out. After preparing and speaking with my coaches, the proof has been in the pudding. I am on a tear right now and approaching an eventual title shot.”

“This fight is business as usual. I know Tyrell is a great wrestler, but I have been working extremely hard on that aspect of my game. I am not saying I am a wrestler, but my preparation in that part of the game will allow me to match him there and overwhelm him with what I am better at.”

Top Super Welterweight Contender Sebastian Fundora Takes On Fellow Unbeaten Sergio Garcia in WBC Title Eliminator Sunday, December 5 in Gervonta Davis vs. Isaac Cruz SHOWTIME PPV Co-Main Event from STAPLES Center in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES – November 10, 2021 – Rising super welterweight star Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora will square off against fellow unbeaten Sergio Garcia in a WBC Super Welterweight World Title Eliminator that serves as the co-main event of the Gervonta Davis vs. Isaac Cruz SHOWTIME PPV on Sunday, December 5 in a Premier Boxing Champions event from STAPLES Center in Los Angeles.

The pay-per-view will begin at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT and will also feature hard-hitting middleweight contenders Sergiy Derevyanchenko and Carlos Adames squaring off in a 10-round battle. Kicking off the pay-per-view, top featherweight contender Eduardo Ramirez faces former title challenger Miguel Marriaga for 10 rounds of action.

Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by Mayweather Promotions, GTD Promotions and TGB Promotions, are on sale now and can be purchased at AXS.com.

“This is a pay-per-view undercard that perfectly fits with what the main event between Gervonta Davis and Isaac Cruz will deliver – all action from start to finish,’’ said Leonard Ellerbe, CEO of Mayweather Promotions. “Sebastian Fundora, Sergio Garcia, Sergiy Derevyanchenko, Carlos Adames, Eduardo Ramirez and Miguel Marriaga are all hard-hitting boxers who come to fight and are looking for the knockout. Fans that purchase tickets to STAPLES Center or tune in to SHOWTIME PPV on Sunday, December 5 can expect explosive entertainment from start to finish.’’

Fundora (17-0-1, 12 KOs) continues to rise up the super welterweight ranks and recently delivered his most impressive victory to date by stopping Jorge Cota in four rounds in May. The six-foot-six brawler has reached this point by showing off the skills of a rugged boxer who is more comfortable fighting on the inside than most. Born in West Palm Beach, Fla. to his Mexican mother and Cuban father and trainer, Freddy – both boxers – the 23-year-old now lives and trains in Coachella, Calif.

“I’m super excited to be back in the ring,” said Fundora. “I haven’t stopped training since my fight against Cota and I’m always prepared for every opportunity that arises. I don’t know much about Garcia, but my promoter has told me for the past two years that he’s from Spain and he’s ranked number two in the WBC. So it only makes sense for me, being the number four-ranked fighter in the WBC, that we face each other. This is going to be an exciting fight on December 5.”

The 29-year-old Garcia (33-0, 14 KOs) will bring an edge in pro experience into his U.S. debut against Fundora on December 5. Fighting out of Torrelavega, Cantabria, Spain, Garcia has competed professionally since 2012. He ascended the rankings by traveling to the U.K. to defeat then unbeaten Ted Cheeseman on his home soil in 2019 and followed up with a triumph over veteran contender Sergey Rabchenko. Garcia has added three victories since then, including 2020 wins over Pablo Mendoza and Gregory Trenel.

“I want to thank my team for giving me this opportunity to show my boxing skills to the U.S. audience,” said Garcia. “I’m very excited to make the most of this chance that I have. After winning four European championships and other important titles, I feel that I’m ready to win a world title. I am only focused on Sebastian Fundora, but after this fight I want Jermell Charlo or Brian Castaño.”

A 2008 Olympian for his native Ukraine, Derevyanchenko (13-3, 10 KOs), will seek another opportunity at a middleweight world title. Known as “The Technician” and now training out of Brooklyn, Derevyanchenko is long established as a top middleweight contender, having faced the likes of Jermall Charlo, Daniel Jacobs and Gennadiy Golovkin. He owns victories over contenders including Tureano Johnson, Jack Culcay and Sam Soliman. .His most recent fight ended in a decision loss to Charlo in a SHOWTIME PPV headlining fight in September 2020.

“I’m excited to get back in the ring and continue my journey toward becoming world champion,” said Derevyanchenko. “Adames is a good fighter and I respect what he can do, but he’s standing in my way right now. I’m looking forward to this challenge and I can’t wait to give the fans another great fight.”

A native of Comendador, Dominican Republic, Adames (20-1, 16 KOs) fights out of New York City as he seeks to earn a second shot at a world championship. The 27-year-old defeated a slew of contenders including Frank Galarza, Joshua Conley, Alejandro Barrera and former Champion Carlos Molina on his way to a 2019 title shot that he lost by narrow decision to Patrick Teixeira. In his most recent outing, Adames scored a third-round TKO over Alexis Salazar on the Davis vs. Barrios SHOWTIME PPV undercard in June.

“I am very happy to return to action on December 5,” said Adames. “I’m having an excellent and very demanding training camp, so my opponent better be 100% ready. It’s very exciting to be on the undercard of this huge event. My fans expect a great performance from me and I’m going to deliver it.”

Fighting out of Sinaloa, Mexico, Ramirez (25-2-3, 12 KOs) has risen up the featherweight rankings with three-straight sensational knockout victories. He stopped then-unbeaten Leduan Barthelemy in November 2019 before blasting out Miguel Flores in December 2020 and most recently dropping Isaac Avelar in May. The 28-year-old is currently riding wins in five of his last six fights since losing to then 126-pound champion Lee Selby in 2017. He’s won 16 of his last 19 fights overall, with his only other blemishes coming in a draw against Barthelemy that was later avenged, and a decision loss to Claudio Marrero.

“I can’t wait to be back on another big card against another very good fighter in Miguel Marriaga,” said Ramirez. “He’s very strong and he has good experience against top fighters. Vasyl Lomachenko is the only one to stop him, but I will be the second because I need to make a statement with this fight and show everyone that I’m ready to fight for the title.”

A former world title challenger at 130 and 126 pounds, Marriaga (30-4, 26 KOs) most recently stopped Jorge Garcia Jimenez in April to make it victories in five of his last six outings since 2018. The 35-year-old fights out of Arjona, Colombia and has fought professionally since 2009. Marriaga went the distance in a pair of featherweight title fights against Oscar Valdez and Nicholas Walters, in addition to losing a super featherweight title fight to Vasyl Lomachenko.

“I am training very hard for this fight as I always do,” said Marriaga. “I’m very happy with my All-Star Boxing team for getting me this fight. Winning on December 5 will propel me to another world title fight. My only goal is to achieve my childhood dream of becoming a world champion and I’m not going to let this opportunity slip by me.”

November 20: Raymond Muratalla-Elias Araujo Lightweight Battle Confirmed to Open Terence Crawford-Shawn Porter ESPN+ PPV at Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (Nov. 10, 2021) — Raymond “Danger” Muratalla, the 24-year-old lightweight star from Fontana, California, has a new opponent for his PPV debut Saturday, Nov. 20 at Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. After unbeaten prospect Steven Ortiz was forced to withdraw due to injury, Muratalla will fight Argentina’s Elias “El Macho” Araujo in an eight-rounder to open the PPV broadcast of the welterweight super fight between undefeated WBO world champion Terence “Bud” Crawford and former two-time welterweight world champion “Showtime” Shawn Porter.

The PPV telecast also includes a 12-round IBF middleweight title eliminator featuring unbeaten contenders Esquiva “La Pantera” Falcao and Patrice Volny, and a 10-round middleweight tilt between rising star Janibek “Qazaq Style” Alimkhanuly and former world champion Hassan N’Dam.

Presented by Top Rank and TGB Promotions, Crawford-Porter will be a Top Rank PPV exclusively on ESPN+ in the United States at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.  Limited tickets are still available and can be purchased by visiting AXS.com.

Muratalla (12-0, 10 KOs), who trains with Robert Garcia in Riverside, California, has won seven consecutive bouts by knockout. Araujo (21-3, 8 KOs) has never been stopped as a professional, and his only two lightweight defeats have come via close decision. He was supposed to fight Joseph Adorno in Las Vegas on Nov. 5, but the bout was scrapped after Adorno missed the contract weight.

Before the PPV broadcast commences, Southern California natives Adam “BluNose” Lopez and Adan Ochoa will fight in an eight-round featherweight rematch on the undercard telecast (ESPN2 & ESPN+, 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT) headlined by the scheduled 10-round featherweight firefight between former world champion Isaac “Royal Storm” Dogboe and two-time title challenger Christopher “Pitufo” Diaz. Lopez (15-3, 6 KOs) hopes to rebound from June’s razor-thin decision loss to Dogboe, while Ochoa (12-2, 5 KOs) seeks retribution. Ochoa and Lopez fought as undefeated prospects in April 2017, and Lopez prevailed by four-round unanimous decision.

The fight action begins on the ESPN App (6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT) with a pair of young stars. 2016 U.S. Olympian Karlos Balderas (10-1, 9 KOs) looks to continue his winning ways against Julio Cortez (15-3, 11 KOs) in a six-rounder at junior lightweight, while recent U.S. Olympian Tiger Johnson will make his long-awaited professional debut in a welterweight four-rounder versus Antonius Grable (3-1-1, 3 KOs). Johnson recently signed a long-term promotional pact with Top Rank.

Balderas, the fighting pride of Santa Maria, California, lost his unbeaten record with a shocking knockout loss to Rene Tellez Giron in December 2019. After the setback, Balderas changed managers, signed a promotional contract with Top Rank, and linked up with noted trainer Buddy McGirt. He came back in August with a second-round knockout over Fidel Cervantes. Cortez, a seven-year pro, has never been knocked out.

Johnson, from Cleveland, Ohio, advanced to the quarterfinals of the welterweight bracket at the Tokyo Olympics before losing a decision to eventual gold medalist Roniel Iglesias (Cuba).

Closeout special: Reigning champ Ball Jr. looking to end 2021 with another title

Springfield, MA (November 10, 2021) – The reigning WBC USNBC Silver super middleweight champion is hoping to jumpstart his holiday shopping with another piece of hardware to add to the trophy case.

Kendrick Ball Jr. (17-1-1, 11 KOs) of Worcester, MA, the reigning title-holder at 168 pounds, returns to the ring Saturday, November 27 at the Mass Mutual Center to face Sacramento’s Mike Guy (12-7-1, 5 KOs) in a 10-round bout for the vacant WBC USNBC championship, headlining a stacked card promoted by CES Boxing.

The event comes two days after Thanksgiving and is an early holiday gift for New England fight fans who’ve once again grown accustomed to attending live events amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The event also caps a busy 2021 for New England’s No. 1 attraction, CES Boxing, a year in which Ball has already won two title fights as he attempts to go 3-for-3 to close out the season.

Per usual, the WBC’s famed green and gold belt is up for grabs with Ball looking to become a two-time champion and join fellow Worcester natives Jamaine Ortiz and Irvin Gonzalez Jr. – the reigning Youth lightweight and featherweight champions, respectively – as CES fighters who currently WBC titles. The action begins 7 pm on November 27 and tickets are available online at CESFights.com.

In addition to the Ball-Guy headliner, iconic female featherweight Shelly Vincent (26-2, 1 KO) of New London, CT, makes her long-awaited return to the ring following a two-year layoff to face Chicago’s Shelly Barnett (5-5-2) in an eight-round special attraction, plus New Britain, CT, featherweight Nathan Martinez (7-1, 2 KOs) faces battle-tested Puerto Rican contender Jayron Santiago (7-8-1, 5 KOs) in a six-round bout.

For Ball, 2021 has featured several important milestones as he moves closer to his dream of contending for a world title. In April, he chopped down former world-title challenger Brian Vera to capture the USNBC Silver title, upending a veteran of 35 pro fights in a convincing unanimous-decision win.

August was arguably the biggest test of his career, his first defense of his title and a showdown against up-and-comer Tyi Edmonds, another unanimous-decision win in which the champ sealed the bout down the stretch courtesy of a late knockdown.

Up next is another stiff challenge, this time against the upset-minded Guy, a cagey, 40-year-old veteran who is well-known in boxing circles for pushing – and defeating – favored opponents and for a relentless attack in which each punch is thrown with bad intentions.

The combined record of Guy’s last seven opponents dating back to 2017 is a staggering 139-18, and that’s not even including his 2016 showdown with Ukrainian standout Sergiy Derevyanchenko. Like many undervalued road warriors, Guy’s resume is a who’s who of rising talent in the super middleweight division, except the difference is Guy has done more than just show up to earn a check. In what was arguably the best stretch in his pro career, the 5-foot-8 challenger defeated unbeaten Marco Delgado (5-0), Eric Moon (11-1), and Denis Douglin (22-6) in succession, earning him a spot amongst the most talked-about fighters in his weight class. He also went eight hard rounds in September with the super-talented Jesse Hart in Philadelphia.

Underestimating Guy would be a risky strategy for Ball, who continues to dedicate more time and energy to his craft than ever before. His eight-fight win streak, which dates back to 2018, has led to a surge in popularity, making the humble, soft-spoken 29-year-old a star in his hometown and a soon-to-be-recognized name among elite the 168-pounders.

That fight, which promises to pack plenty of intensity and drama, merely scratches the surface on what CES has planned for November 27.

Vincent’s comeback, which has been two years in the making, adds an additional layer of intrigue, and Martinez is once again stepping up the level of competition against Santiago, who has faced the likes of Jude Franklin and Dominique Francis over the course of his career.

Featherweight Joshua Orta (7-0, 3 KOs), born and raised in Springfield, returns to his hometown following a successful appearance in August to face Lester Brown Jr. (4-3-3, 1 KO) of the Bahamas in a six-round bout, and fellow Springfield native Isaiah Cruz (1-0), competing in the super featherweight division, takes on Kingstown, NY, native Darren Mima, a former MMA world-title challenger making his boxing debut, in a four-round bout. Also from Springfield, unbeaten super welterweight Jalen Renaud (6-0, 2 KOs) battles Jurmain McDonald (5-4, 2 KOs) of Jefferson City, MO.

Another intriguing bout is a six-round super lightweight showdown between southpaw Dashaun Johns (4-1, 3 KOs) of the Bronx and Pittsburgh’s Daniel Mitchell (5-4-1, 2 KOs), who returns to the ring for the first time in six years. Both fighters are making their CES debuts. Heavyweight Tim Hatfield of Providence, RI, fights as a professional for the first time in a four-round bout against Woburn, MA, heavyweight Rodrigo DaRocha (0-1), and female welterweight Stevie Jane Coleman (1-1) of Columbia, CT, looks to build off her first pro win when she battles Nevada’s LeAnn O’Malley (1-0) in a four-round bout.

Irish Olympian Kurt Walker Signs Professional Contract with Top Rank

LAS VEGAS (Nov. 10, 2021) — Kurt Walker spent the better part of a decade excelling in the Irish amateur system, a standout run culminating in an appearance at the Tokyo Olympics. He now hopes to replicate that success in the paid ranks.

Walker, a 26-year-old native of Lisburn, Northern Ireland, signed a multi-year contract with Top Rank and is the latest European star to ink a deal with the promotional powerhouse. Walker is managed by Michael and Jamie Conlan, the Belfast brothers who had a front-row seat to his development. Their father, John Conlan, coached Walker as an amateur.

“Kurt Walker is someone who stood out at the Tokyo Olympics, as he has a devoted fan base back home and a style suited to the pro game,” said Top Rank chairman Bob Arum. “He has a great team behind him, and with his skills and demeanor, he can become a major star in the sport.”

Walker said, “Signing with Top Rank, the best promoter in the game, is a dream come true. This will help me achieve my goal of becoming a world champion. Seeing how Top Rank builds their fighters into superstars was something that appealed to me. I also want to thank Michael and Jamie Conlan for making this a possibility, and alongside Top Rank, I have the utmost confidence that my team will guide me in the right direction.”

Michael Conlan added, “Jamie and I are delighted to announce our first signing. We believe Top Rank is the ideal fit, especially given their commitment to building fighters on both sides of the Atlantic. I’ve trained alongside Kurt for many years, and his talent shined through in the gym and at the Tokyo Olympics. Although Kurt lost to Duke Ragan in Tokyo, they are now under the same promotional umbrella. That is a fight we’d love to make for him down the road.”

Walker and Ragan fought in the Olympic quarterfinals with a guaranteed medal on the line. Ragan, who is 4-0 as a pro, earned the 3-2 split decision. Before running into Ragan, Walker upset Uzbekistan’s gold medal favorite and 2019 World Championships gold medalist, Mirazizbek Mirzakhalilov. Walker established his amateur credentials with gold medals at the 2019 European Games and 2018 EU Championships, a silver medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, and three consecutive Irish Senior Elite titles from 2015-2017.

PAKISTAN SUPERSTAR MUHAMMAD WASEEM JOINS PROBELLUM

Los Angeles, CA – November 10, 2021 – Probellum is delighted to announce the signing of one of the best flyweight fighters in the world – Pakistan’s former world title challenger Muhammad Waseem.

Waseem (11-1, 8 knockouts) is one of Pakistan’s biggest sports stars, having had immense success as both an amateur and professional boxer.

The 34-year-old has been involved in some massive fights in his career, most notably when he challenged Moruti Mthalane for the IBF flyweight title in 2018, controversially coming up narrowly short on points, in a fight that saw Waseem drop Mthalane.

He had a memorable homecoming in Lahore during his last outing back in December, and is now set to return to the ring later this month, when he competes in Dubai against Rober Barrera on November 26.

A victory in that fight would see Waseem move one step closer to another crack at world honors, as he looks to make history as the first ever Pakistani-born world champion, with Probellum hoping to then stage a world title fight in Pakistan in 2022.

As an amateur, he won a silver medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and a bronze medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, along with a gold medal at the 2010 World Combat Games in Beijing, a silver medal at the 2010 South Asian Games in Dhaka, and a bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon.

Waseem is also known for his incredible charity work outside of the ring, regularly giving back to organizations in Pakistan and around the world, helping to better the lives of children and put them on the path to success.

He is the latest big name to sign with Probellum, joining an elite roster that includes Regis Prograis, Nonito Donaire, Badou Jack, Donnie Nietes, Eimantas Stanionis, Arthur Biyarslanov, Taras Shelestyuk, Ricky Burns, Paul Butler, Lewis Ritson, Hovhannes Bachkov, Darius Fulghum, Eduardo Hernandez, Mark Dickinson, Brandon Moore, Jack Bowen and Jason Mallia.

Probellum has also secured co-promotional agreements with Wasserman Boxing, Universum in Germany, Groupe Yvon Michel in Canada, Maravillabox Promotions in Spain, Kynoch Boxing in Scotland, Mitchell Sports Promotions in England, LNK Boxing in Latvia, Titov Boxing in Russia, Glozier Boxing in New Zealand, Cuadrilatero Boxing in Colombia, PR Best Boxing in Puerto Rico, BXSTRS Promotions in Mexico, Shuan Boxing Promotions in the Dominican Republic, Bufalo Boxing in Nicaragua, Team Ellis Boxing in Australia, Moron Boxing in Venezuela, Volcano Boxing in El Salvador, Armin Tan Promotions in Indonesia, and Box Office Sports in Ghana.

“I am proud to be representing Pakistan and teaming up with a huge company like Probellum,” said Waseem“They have already signed some of the best names in the sport, and to now be working alongside those great fighters is amazing.

“I am certain that they can help me accomplish my goal of becoming world champion, and it can lead to some massive nights of boxing and amazing opportunities both in Pakistan and beyond. Probellum have already made clear how they want to hold a world title fight in Pakistan next year, and having the chance to be involved in that would be superb, and be spectacular for the entire country.”

“We are truly honored to welcome a boxing superstar like Muhammad Waseem to Probellum,” said Richard Schaefer, President of Probellum“He is one of the biggest stars in all of Pakistan, and we are confident that his popularity can translate around the world.

“He has already proven himself to be one of the best 115lb fighters on the planet, and with Probellum now supporting him, we plan on helping him achieve his dream of becoming world champion, a feat which would be historic not just for Pakistan, but for Muslims around the world.”

Four-weight world champion Donnie Nietes (43-1-5, 23 knockouts) will also appear on the card, as he looks to move a step closer to another championship in a world title elimination bout. He will be joined by unbeaten super-featherweight Archie Sharp (21-0, 9 knockouts), and former world title challenger Jono Carroll (20-2-1, 5 knockouts), who is coming off an important win against Andy Vences in September.

“We are delighted to finally announce plans for this incredible event in Dubai next month,” said Richard Schaefer, President of Probellum. “We made it clear from the offset that we have massive plans in store for Probellum, and this world title double-header shows just that.

“The two world title fights see John Riel Casimero face Paul Butler, while Sunny Edwards takes on Jayson Mama, and both of those bouts are set to be guaranteed excitement. With the likes of Donnie Nietes, Archie Sharp and Jono Carroll all competing too, fans will be treated to a night of non-stop action. Darren Cunningham Impressive in Comeback Fight Wins by Dominate Unanimous Decision

LAS VEGAS, NV (November 9, 2021) – Mission accomplished as Darren “The Gift” Cunningham (14-1, 7 KOS), won his comeback bout against Rob Diezel (14-9, 4 KOs), after suffering is first defeat as a professional back in August of this year. The 8-round co-main event bout took place at the Patapsco Arena in Baltimore, Maryland, this past Saturday November 6th, promoted by the Shabazz Brotherz.

In round one, Cunningham stunned Diezel with a powerful left hook, setting the tone for a dominate performance for the rest of the fight. Diezel was sent to the canvas at the later part of round two when Cunningham landed another devastating left hook to the head. Diezel was in survival mode for the rest of the fight and made it to the final bell. Scorecards read 80-71 across the board.

“After my first professional loss I had to refocus and go back to what made me a great fighter which is my boxing ability,” said Darren Cunningham eager after his win. “I knew if I stuck to using my boxing skills, I would catch him with a punch he didn’t see coming. After I landed that left hook, I knew he would be taking punishment for the rest of the fight. Boxing is a what have you done for me lately sport, and I knew that by taking a loss people would doubt me. I stuck to the basics and outboxed my opponent, and proved any doubters wrong, now it is time to get back to business.”

Darren Cunningham last fought for Joseph Ambo for the NABF junior super bantamweight title losing after a fight that had everyone on their feet. What many might not know is Cunningham is now being trained by Rafael Ramos.

“I got a new trainer in Rafael Ramos, and it greatly helped me for this camp,” explained Cunningham. “I feel as though the synergy between us works very well. My main goal moving forward is to stick to the game plan that Ramos and my team put in place, and that’s to use my feet, and box my way to victory. I am looking to make statements via demonstrations from this point forward.”

Ramos, who is from the Floyd Mayweather Sr. lineage of coaches seems to have been a perfect fit for Cunningham as he starts his road to redemption.

“I am already back in the gym, and I want the best available opponent as soon as possible,” stated Cunningham.

RJJ Boxing delivered big-time during COVID-19 pandemic

LAS VEGAS (November 9, 2021) – Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions has completed a remarkable run during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it is looking forward to another productive return in hopefully more normal conditions during 2022.

RJJ Boxing delivered quality pro boxing shows, streaming 12 events live and exclusively on UFC FIGHT PASS®, including nine from Mexico, not to mention seven pro iKON Fighting Federation mixed-martial-arts shows.

“RJJ Boxing has been extremely blessed throughout this pandemic,” RJJ Boxing President Lisa Veltre said. “Our team was fortunate to partner with Del O Promotions as well as World Cup Boxing Series. The RJJ team has expanded with incredible diligence for the sport, dedication to the boxers, and determination to stay relevant during the most difficult and challenging times the world has ever had to face. Me, Guy Taylor and Terry Hollan have been collaborating on our 2022 events, and I can promise that it’ll be explosive.”

After the pandemic effectively shut down boxing in the United States, seven months later RJJ Boxing came back strong on August 25, 2020, partnering with Dela O Promotions in San Carlos, Mexico, and the Las Vegas-based promotional company never looked back. RJJ Boxing also teamed with local promoters to produce shows in Los Mochis (Mexico), Mississippi (Biloxi), Texas (Humble) and California (Montebello).

Prior to the pandemic, RJJ Boxing was one of the most active boxing promoters in North America, producing events that consistently streamed live on UFC FIGHT PASS from Toppenish (WA), Tucson (AZ), Reno and Las Vegas (NV), Alpine (CA), Pensacola and St. Petersburg (FL), San Antonio and Laredo (TX). RJJ Boxing also promoted shows in Russia and Japan during the past three years.

The challenges related to promoting boxing, particularly in Mexico, were pressing due to added expenses, language, and cultural differences, constantly changing COVID-19 restrictions, and somehow salvaging fights and shows when fighters tested positive at the weigh in or days leading up to the show.

RJJ Boxing helped develop Mexican fighters WBC Latino welterweight champion Santiago ”Somer” Dominguez (25-0, 19 KOs), WBCO Latino title-holder Alan “Cachorro” Solis (13-1-1, 7 KOs),WBC Youth Silver lightweight titlist Luis “Koreano” Torres (13-0, 9 KOs), lightweight Jorge Lugo Cota (5-0, 3 KOs), and WBO Latino Super Middleweight champion Lester Martinez (10-0, 9 KOs), of Guatemala.

Veteran Mexican boxers, super featherweight Jose Eduardo “El Sugar” Nunez (22-1, 22 KOs) and super middleweight Manuel “El Meno” Gallegos (19-1, 16 KOs) also gained invaluable exposure in the United States and around the world fighting on the UFC FIGHT PASS platform.

When the going got tough, RJJ Boxing got going, ranking among the most active mid-level promoters (those without the financial backing of DAZN, ESPN, Showtime, and FOX) in the US.

NBA ALL-STAR AND TWO-TIME OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST DERON WILLIAMS TO BOX NFL SUPERSTAR FRANK GORE IN PROFESSIONAL HEAVYWEIGHT BOUT LIVE ON SHOWTIME PPV® ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 18

NEW YORK – November 9, 2021 – Three-time NBA All-Star and two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Deron Williams will take on legendary San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore in a professional heavyweight boxing match that will take place on the undercard of Jake Paul vs. Tommy Fury, live on SHOWTIME PPV on Saturday, December 18 at AMALIE Arena in Tampa. The four-round heavyweight bout will be contested with a 215-pound contractual limit as the two legends make their professional boxing debuts.

#PaulFury: One Will Fall is produced and presented by Most Valuable Promotions and SHOWTIME Sports® and promoted in association with Tony and Bryce Holden of Holden Productions. The pay-per-view telecast begins live at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT, is produced and distributed by SHOWTIME PPV and will feature Paul and Fury in the main event in an eight-round cruiserweight bout contested at a 192-pound catchweight. Seven-division world champion Amanda Serrano will face off against interim lightweight titlist Miriam Gutiérrez in a 10-round lightweight bout in the co-main event.

Tickets for the live event will be available for purchase on November 10, 2021 at www.amaliearena.com.

Before his NBA debut, Williams attended University of Illinois where he played college basketball and led them to the Final Four in 2005. He subsequently landed the third overall NBA draft pick from the Utah Jazz. Aside from his time in the NBA, Williams also earned gold medals for the U.S. national team in the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympic Games. In his boxing debut, fans can expect to see Williams’ all-around athleticism as he taps into his lifelong love for combat sports. As a child, Williams’ first sport was wrestling, which he competed in for eight years. During that time, he won two state titles. His passion for combat sports has remained an integral part of his training regime ever since.

“Combat sports have been a part of my life since my youngest days. Before I was a basketball player, I was a wrestler,” said Williams. “Since 2015, I have had the privilege of owning an MMA gym, and through that I have trained in various martial arts to stay active. Over the last year, I’ve been waiting for the right opportunity to translate my training into a professional debut. I’m making that happen on December 18 against Frank, one of the physically strongest NFL players in history.”

A University of Miami alum, Gore was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in 2005 as a third-round draft pick and remained a key player of the team for 10 straight seasons. During his time as a Niner, the running back gained notoriety for his rare and impressive athletic ability. Gore received five Pro Bowl selections, earned the title of rushing yards leader and played in Super Bowl XLVII throughout his stint on the 49ers. Gore said goodbye to the Bay Area in 2014 and continued his NFL career playing for the Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills and New York Jets. Ranked third in all-time rushing yards and holding the NFL record for most games played as a running back, Gore’s boxing debut is a must see.

“I’m excited to be fighting on this card and can’t wait to show the world what I’ve been working on,” said Gore. “Boxing has me excited, and on December 18 expect fireworks!”

One Will Fall is the second live sporting event co-produced by Most Valuable Promotions. Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian created MVP on the premise that content is king, and fighters are the creators of the content in martial arts. Paul and Bidarian will be executive producers of the #PaulFury event.
