19-Year-Old Phenom Gabriela Fundora Returns October 23 in Mexico Against Alejandra Soto
On Saturday, October 23, 19-year-old flyweight prospect Gabriela “Sweet Poison” Fundora (4-0, 2 KO) will return for a six-round flyweight battle on LC Promotions’ “Round x Round” event at the Salón de Usos Múltiples 3 Coronas in Los Reyes, Estado de México, against tough veteran Alejandra “Tintanita” Soto (7-6-1, 3 KO).
The event will be streamed live on Facebook.
Fighting for the fifth fight already this year, the skillful 5? 9? southpaw from Coachella, California, says winning her last two by KO was not a coincidence.
“I’ve turned my power up a notch,” admits Fundora during a break in training. “It happened so naturally. My first two pro fights, it was like dipping my toe in the shallow end. As soon as I had my third fight, I got used to the rhythm and since then it’s been time to sit down on my punches and show them what we’ve really got.”
While Fundora says she doesn’t often study specific opponents, she’s looking forward to getting back in the ring against Soto.
“I don’t know much about her, but we train hard to prepare for any style. We you know what you bring to the ring, you don’t worry about who you’re facing. The more I fight, the more chances I get to go over what I’m doing wrong during fights and fix it for the next one. I’m improving very quickly fighting every month and I’m in top shape.”
From a fighting family that also includes top super welterweight contender Sebastian “Towering Inferno” Fundora, the former amateur standout Gabriela says she’s seeing big improvements working, as she always has, with her father/trainer, Freddy, at his growing gym in Coachella.
“We’ve been training like this since I was small. It’s nothing new. We wake up at 6 am and run about six miles. Then, around 5 pm, we do strength and conditioning and then we get into the boxing. My speed and power are improving,” she said happily. “I recorded myself doing mitt work I didn’t realize how fast and hard I was punching until I watched the video.”
Set to have her third consecutive fight in Mexico, Fundora says she’s been very happy with the reception from Mexican fans.
“The fans in Mexico have all been very kind,” said Fundora. “They treat me like one of their own. We decided to take some fights in Mexico so I would have the experience of going outside my comfort zone to fight and the people here are amazing. It’s been an amazing experience.”
Surprisingly Fundora says the plan is to fight up to two more times this year.
“We fight every month, so by the end of the year I hope to have six fights,” Fundora asserted. “I hope to be fighting for a regional belt by next year. It’s all going to be happening soon.”
“Gabriela Fundora, the Sweet Poison, will be a world champion very soon,” said her promoter, Sampson Lewkowicz. “She has settled into the professional style and now she is knocking everyone out. I’m looking forward to a very exciting year next year for Gabriela.”

King Artur Returns: Beterbiev to Defend Unified Light Heavyweight Crown Against Top Contender Marcus Browne December 17 at Montreal’s Bell Centre and LIVE on ESPN+

MONTREAL (Oct. 12, 2021) — WBC/IBF unified light heavyweight world champion Artur Beterbiev moved to Montreal nearly a decade ago to embark on his professional journey following a pair of Olympic berths for his native Russia. Sixteen fights into his career, he will return to his adopted hometown for the first time as a world champion.
Beterbiev, boxing’s only world champion with a 100 percent knockout rate, will defend his world titles against WBC No. 1 contender and 2012 U.S. Olympian Marcus Browne on Friday Dec. 17 at the Bell Centre in Montreal.
Beterbiev-Browne will headline a loaded world title tripleheader streaming live and exclusively in the United States on ESPN+. Undefeated light flyweight contender Kim Clavel will challenge for the WBC title, while former IBF junior middleweight world champion Marie-Eve Dicaire will attempt to regain her crown. Full details regarding the Clavel and Dicaire fights will be announced shortly.
Promoted by Top Rank and Groupe Yvon Michel (GYM), tickets go on sale Saturday, Oct. 23 at 10 a.m. ET and can be purchased by visiting ticketmaster.ca, or emailing GYM’s office directly at info@groupeyvonmichel.ca.
“Artur Beterbiev has built a tremendous fanbase in Montreal, and we wanted to give him the opportunity to defend his titles in his adopted hometown,” said Top Rank chairman Bob Arum. “Marcus Browne is a worthy mandatory challenger, a big southpaw with a high boxing IQ. But I believe Artur is the world’s premier light heavyweight and, as usual, will end the fight before the final bell.”
“I want to thank Bob Arum and Yvon Michel for bringing this event to Montreal. It’s been a dream of mine to defend my titles in front of the fans who have supported me my entire pro career,” Beterbiev said. “I look forward to defending my titles in dominant fashion.”
“This is the moment in my life that I’ve been waiting for and I’m ready to take advantage of it,” Browne said. “I know exactly what I have to do to take the titles from Beterbiev and that’s what I’m going to do.
“Beterbiev is the most avoided champion out there. He’s a great fighter, doesn’t make a lot of mistakes and is super strong. But I’m the better fighter and I’m here to show that come December 17. So, to my fans, know that I’m back and I’m here to stay. No controversial losses, no distractions, just straight work.”
“It is with great pride that we are going to offer this wonderful Christmas gift to Quebecers! Artur Beterbiev is probably the best boxer in the history of Canadian boxing, and it is a privilege to have him with us in this defense of his two world titles,” said Yvon Michel, GYM President. “In addition, we are going to make this event a historical one, as we have three world championship fights on the bill. Marie-Eve ??Dicaire is determined to regain her title, and the charismatic Kim Clavel sets out to win the WBC light flyweight crown. December 17 is one of the biggest international boxing events ever presented in Canada, a real bright spot after all these months of the pandemic. I would like to thank Artur Beterbiev, Bob Arum and Top Rank for their trust.”
Beterbiev (16-0, 16 KOs) last fought in Canada in December 2016, a first-round stoppage over Isidro Ranoni Prieto. He won the vacant IBF world title in his next fight, which he defended two times before unifying titles with a devastating 10th-round stoppage over longtime WBC king Oleksandr Gvozdyk. After a nearly 18-month absence, Beterbiev returned in March with a 10th-round TKO over Adam Deines in Moscow. Browne (24-1, 16 KOs), a 30-year-old native of Staten Island, New York, won an interim world title in January 2019 with a unanimous decision win over two-weight world champion Badou Jack. After dropping a technical decision to Jean Pascal in August 2019, Browne returned to his winning ways April 20 with a shutout decision over Denis Grachev.

BRIEDIS AND MANN READY TO RUMBLE IN RIGA
Mairis Briedis (27-1, 19 KOs) and Artur Mann (17-1, 9 KOs) both looked in incredible shape as they performed media workouts today ahead of their IBF and Ring Magazine World Cruiserweight Title showdown on Saturday night.
Briedis returns to the ring for the first time following his spectacular win over Yuniel Dorticos in the final of the World Boxing Super Series in September 2020, and the Latvian star can expect a tough test as he defends his belts against the former World Title challenger Mann from Germany.
With only days to go until their hotly-anticipated World Title contest, both men spoke to the media after an open training session in the Latvian capital.
“I’m feeling good. My training has gone well and I’m looking forward to the fight,” said Briedis. “It’s going to be a special feeling walking out in front of my supporters at the Arena Riga again. I’m not expecting an easy fight. I know Artur Mann is a dangerous boxer. I will need to be at my best to beat him but I have trained hard and I am ready to defend my titles.”
“My training is over and I’m ready to fight,” said Mann. “I have been dreaming of this opportunity for a long time. Briedis is a very experienced boxer. I know it will be a tough fight but I am focused on what I need to do. This will be my biggest fight but I believe I can win. I am well trained and and I am ready.”
Mairis Briedis defends his IBF and Ring Magazine World Cruiserweight Titles against Artur Mann on October 16 at the Arena Riga in Latvia. Tickets are on sale now and available to purchase via https://www.bilesuserviss.lv.
CALEB PLANT LAS VEGAS WORKOUT QUOTES

LAS VEGAS (October 12, 2021) – Unbeaten IBF Super Middleweight World Champion Caleb “Sweethands” Plant continued to declare his intention on becoming the first undisputed super middleweight world champion in boxing history as he nears his showdown against WBC/WBO/WBA 168-pound champion Canelo Álvarez taking place Saturday, November 6 live on SHOWTIME PPV at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas in a Premier Boxing Champions event.
A world champion since January 2019, Plant has made three successful title defenses since wresting the belt from Jose Uzcategui by unanimous decision. Just like he did in the Uzcategui fight, Plant looks to flip the script and score another upset on his way to making history against Canelo.
Tickets for the live event are on sale now and can be purchased at AXS.com. The event is promoted by Canelo Promotions and TGB Promotions and sponsored by Hennessy and Value.
Here is what Plant and his co-trainer Justin Gamber had to say about November 6 and more:
CALEB PLANT
“I’m just staying relaxed and letting the process play itself out. We’ve got one half of camp done and a half camp to go. I’m ahead of schedule and my weight is good.
“I don’t think I need to be any more motivated than I already am to fight for the undisputed super middleweight championship of the world. It’s a fight that we both obviously want to win. Maybe Canelo’s emotions boiled over at the press conference and I reacted. Those things happen.
“I’m just staying zeroed in, locked in and focused. We’re just planning to finish out this camp the same way that I started it, and that’s at a high level.
“I’m feeling really good. Everything has been on point. I feel like I have all the skills in the world and a great team around me. When the bell rings, I’m just looking forward to showing the world what I can do.
“I believe that there are a handful of things that I am better than Canelo at in the ring. But the only way to find out is to tune-in on November 6. It’s not going to matter what I say right now, people aren’t going to believe me anyway. I’d rather show you than tell you.
“I’ve only had 21 fights as a professional, but a lot of those fights have been on the big stage. I’ve been fighting at a high-level for a long time and I’ve got a lot of experience under my belt. It’s all going to help me on fight night.
“I know that this is the biggest fight I’ve had so far in my career, and that’s the goal, to keep moving forward. I want each fight to be bigger than the last fight. This isn’t anything that I haven’t asked for. I want this and I feel like I’m prepared for it.
“Being undisputed will cement my name in the history books of boxing forever. That’s why I do this. That’s what I set out to accomplish when I first started boxing.”
JUSTIN GAMBER, Plant’s Co-Trainer
“Caleb will be 110% ready on November 6. Trust me when I say that there’s not a fighter on the face of the earth who doesn’t have weaknesses. Canelo is where he is because he’s earned his spot. He’s a great fighter, but he’s not a perfect fighter. He has weaknesses and we’re going to exploit them.
“I know that people are overlooking Caleb. That’s perfect for us. Caleb is just like me, because for our whole lives, when someone told us that we couldn’t do something, we love to prove them wrong. It just drives us even more.
“I was surprised by what happened at the press conference. If anything, it made it more personal. It’s always been important to beat him, but now there’s a little bit of an extra chip on my shoulder.”

The 25-year-old will now enter the paid ranks and see his career guided by Probellum, alongside Adam Morallee of S-JAM Boxing, who will serve as manager.
Fulghum is Probellum’s latest big signing, joining the likes of Regis Prograis, Nonito Donaire, Badou Jack, Eimantas Stanionis, Arthur Biyarslanov, Taras Shelestyuk, Ricky Burns, Lewis Ritson, Eduardo Hernandez and Brandon Moore.

ZACH PARKER will defend his WBO International Super-Middleweight title against Marcus Morrison at Utilita Arena, Birmingham on Saturday November 6, live on BT Sport.
The champion won’t just be risking his crown, but also his status as number one contender in the rankings for the WBO World title held by Canelo Alvarez when he faces Manchester’s Morrison.
Hall of Fame promoter Frank Warren is predicting fireworks when the pair clash in the Midlands on Bonfire weekend.
He said: “It’s a fight I am delighted to have made and it’s a contest that should bring out the best in both guys
“Zach is a Queensberry fighter and I believe he wins, but he needs to fight solid opponents like Marcus while he waits for his World title shot.
“Marcus knows this is another great chance. Zach knows that he will bring his best on fight night.
“Zach is one of the avoided men in the division, but the moment Marcus and his team knew there was interest on our side they moved quickly. They believe they can spring an upset.
“I believe fans in the arena and BT Sport viewers will see a fight between two guys who have ability and ambition.”
Parker (21-0, 15 KOs) will be making the second defence of the title he won with an impressive stoppage of American Vaughn Alexander in march.
The Neil Marsh managed boxer made it five wins on the spin in July when he knocked out Sherzod Khusanov in the first round.
Former Manchester City player Morrison (24-4, 16 KOs) has seen his career kick on since July 2019 when he travelled to Italy and upset former European champion and World title challenger Emanuele Blandamura in nine rounds.
In May he took on Chris Eubank Jr and pushed him all the way before going down on points after ten rounds.
Massive Stoke-on-Trent ticket seller Nathan Heaney (13-0, 5 KOs) will meet Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Sladan Janjanin (30-8, 23 KOs) for the vacant IBF Intercontinental Middleweight title.
British and Commonwealth Super-Middleweight champion Lennox Clarke (20-1-1, 8 KOs) has his first fight since his title winning upset win against Willy Hutchinson.

LEWIS RITSON SIGNS PROMOTIONAL DEAL WITH PROBELLUM

Los Angeles, CA – October 12, 2021 – Probellum is proud to announce a promotional deal with former British and WBA Intercontinental champion Lewis Ritson.
Newcastle superstar Ritson (21-2, 12 knockouts) is known for his all-action, relentless style, having been involved in some of the most exciting fights in the UK in recent years, such as his October 2019 win over Robbie Davies Jnr.
His vicious power has also been on display during his career, as seen in his quick-fire stoppage victories over Paul Hyland Jnr, Scott Cardle and Joe Murray, with those three fights lasting less than four rounds combined.
Ritson’s first bout since signing with Probellum will come on Saturday, when he competes against Hank Lundy on the BOXXER event at the Newcastle Arena – live on Sky Sports Boxing.
Probellum will guide the career of Ritson moving forward, as their expert team look to use their vast knowledge to help navigate the 28-year-old back towards world title contention.
It is the latest major statement of intent from Probellum, following on from their signings of Regis Prograis, Nonito Donaire, Badou Jack, Eimantas Stanionis, Arthur Biyarslanov, Taras Shelestyuk, Ricky Burns, Eduardo Hernandez and Brandon Moore.
“I’m thrilled to be a part of the Probellum team,” said Ritson. “Over the last few weeks they have made some huge signings and I’m happy we’ve got the deal over the line and I’ve signed with them.”
“It’s great to welcome someone of Lewis’ high standard to the team,” said Richard Schaefer, President of Probellum. “He’s always in entertaining fights and is one of the most popular fighters in the entire UK.
“He’s been on the cusp of a world title shot before, and Probellum will now be on hand to steer him back towards that level as we help him achieve his dream of one day becoming world champion.”

PACHECO: I CAN WIN A WORLD TITLE AT 22

Diego Pacheco believes he can be a World champion at 22 as he faces Lucas de Abreu over eight rounds on Saturday night at Chukchansi Park in Fresno, California, live worldwide on DAZN.
TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW AT TICKETS.COM
Pacheco (12-0 9 KOs) has been impressive in his pro journey to date as the 20 year old edges closer to two years in the paid ranks in December. The rangy Californian expects Saturday night to be his last eight round action before tasting his first ten round bout by the end of 2021.
Pacheco expects a stern test from the unbeaten Abreu (12-0 11 KOs) but in his third eight round bout on the spin, Pacheco intends to showcase what he’s learnt from stellar sparring sessions with the likes of Canelo Alvarez and David Benavidez and has spelled out the path he believes can take him to World title glory in 2023.
“I’m ambitious,” said Pacheco. “This is meant to be my last eight round fight and then I am stepping up to ten rounds, I will be 21 in March so I should have been in good ten-rounders and into 12 round fights by the time I am 22, so I think it’s realistic to have a World title fight by 22, why not?
“Abreu is a good boxer – good enough to beat the guys he’s beaten so far – but he’s never faced someone like me, so I am confident, and I feel it’s going to be a good win to have on my resume.
“I am happy with where I am now. The relationship with Matchroom has been great since day one and everything has been perfect so far.
“I walk around at 171lbs or 172lbs. I feel really strong at 168lbs and I think I will be here for a few years, and I’d like to win a title at Super-Middleweight before moving up, it’s not difficult for me to make weight at all, I stay in the gym, I love the sport and I stay in shape all the time, I do what I have to do to be a great boxer.
“I was in his camp with Canelo for the Callum Smith fight, a guy on his team recommended me for my height because Callum is so tall. The experience was amazing, I learnt so much from him. I knew that he was looking to take away Callum’s left hook as he was practicing on me! He kept hitting my shoulder and I could tell it was a strategy and it worked, and I’ve picked that up from him because I’ve done that with guy sparring partners and had some success.
“I’ve been in camp with David Benavidez and Gabe Rosado ahead of this fight and it’s amazing to be around this level of experience, but it’s not just the things that they tell me, but it gives me the confidence that I’m sparring the best in the world.”
Pacheco’s clash with Abreu is part of a stacked night of action in Fresno, topped by the returning Mikey Garcia’s clash with European Super-Lightweight champion Sandor Martin.
A stacked undercard in support of the main event is led by WBO World Light-Flyweight king Elwin Soto (19-1 13 KOs) putting his crown on the line against Jonathan Gonzalez (24-3-1 14 KOs) while San Antonio talent Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez (13-0 9 KOs) clashes with Jose Alejandro Burgos (18-4-1 15 KOs).
There’s plenty more young talent on the card as unbeaten Australian Super-Featherweight Brock Jarvis (19-0 17 KOs) fights under the Matchroom banner for the first time against Alejandro Frias Rodriguez (13-4-2 6 KOs), Marc Castro (3-0 3 KOs) fights in his hometown for the first time as a pro, and Nikita Ababiy (10-0 6 KOs) and Khalil Coe (1-0 1 KO) both look to add wins to their impressive starts in the pro game.
World-Rated Russian Light Heavyweight Ali Izmailov Returns Saturday for Showdown Against Detroit’s James Ballard in Dearborn, MI
This Saturday, October 16, IBF #11, WBC #14 and WBO #15 light heavyweight Ali Izmailov (5-0, 3 KOs) returns to action against capable hometown veteran James Ballard (10-3, 3 KOs) in the eight-round main event of promoters Kenny D Moore and Vi Tran’s of Second 2 None Promotions’ “Best of Tomorrow 12” event at the Performance Arts Center in Dearborn, Michigan.
The 28-year-old Izmailov, from Malgobek, Russia, is a former amateur standout who won multiple elite international tournaments. Already world-rated as a professional at just 5-0, 3 KOs, Izmailov recently started working with world-famous Florida-based trainer John David Jackson at his Action Jackson Boxing Academy in Fort Lauderdale.
Jackson, who has spent the last three weeks sizing up his new protegee, says Izmailov is a diamond in the rough waiting for polish.
“The sky is the limit for him with his punching power,” said Jackson of Izmailov. “He’s a tremendous puncher, but he’s also got natural boxing skills. As a fighter, I don’t think he realizes his potential. I’m getting him to move his head more and throw more combinations, instead of one power punch at a time. Nothing against his old trainers, but once he learns to throw three or four shots to set them up and camouflage the hard ones, he will be unstoppable.”
Jackson says the 32-year-old Ballard will be a good test for Izmailov and his newfound skills, but shouldn’t be able to derail any of their plans.
“Ballard is good, but Ali just has to pressure him and go to the body to break him down. Once his opponents feel his power, they all have a change of heart. Once Ali hits him with some good shots, it’ll be a matter of time.”
“Ali has amazing potential to be a star and John David is the perfect trainer to bring that out of him,” said Izmailov’s promoter, Dmitriy Salita. “I think you’ll see the improvements immediately under his expert tutelage. Ali was already the best prospect in the light heavyweight division.”
Tickets for “Best of Tomorrow 12” are priced at $25 – $1,000 and can be purchased online through Eventbrite.com. On fight night, the action starts at 7:00 pm. The Ford Community & Performing Arts Center is located at 15801 Michigan Avenue in Dearborn, MI. The event is sponsored by One Punch Knockout Gym, Topbreed Management, Pharaoh Website Hosting & Restaurant Online Ordering Service, MJ Diamonds, Family Tied Entertainment.

GARCIA: I HAVE TO BEAT MARTIN TO LAND TITLE FIGHTS

| Mikey Garcia believes Sandor Martin stands in his way of World title action in 2022 as the four-weight World champion returns to action on Saturday night (October 16) at Chukchansi Park in Fresno, CA, live worldwide on DAZN. TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW AT TICKETS.COM Garcia (40-1 30 KOs) makes a welcome return to action in a catchweight clash at 145lbs with Martin, as the Californian looks to land an eye-catching win to use as a springboard for mega-fights in 2022. When Garcia steps through the ropes at the home of the Fresno Grizzlies on Saturday night, it will be 596 days since the saw off the challenge of Jessie Vargas in Frisco, Texas in February 2020. Martin (38-2 13 KOs) has been active over the pandemic, successfully defending his European Super-Lightweight title with a wide decision win over Kay Prospere in Barcelona in April and previously shutting out Nestor Maradiaga over eight in Milan in December – and the southpaw Spaniard will be looking to land a career-best win and catapult himself into contention for the fights that Garcia craves. In his time out of the ring Garcia was linked with fights with now-retired modern great Manny Pacquiao and former 140lb champion Regis Prograis. Neither fight came to fruition but Garcia knows that getting back into the ring and looking at his best will see him prove that he’s a ‘force to be reckoned with’ and will land him a stellar fight next. “It’s been a year and a half since my last fight, so I am excited to get back in there,” said Garcia. “I am looking forward to giving my fans a chance to see me again, especially here in Cali, it’s my home state but I haven’t fought much here. “I want to pursue big fights, title fights, and be recognized as one of the best fighters in the world once again. This is another step in that direction. “I was interested in Manny and Regis, but we weren’t able to get those fights and we landed on Sandor Martin, and he is a very good fighter. He’s a southpaw, he’s relatively unknown in America but worldwide and in the sport, people know him. He’s got a great record at 38-2, he’s hungry for a big opportunity like this and wants to capitalize on it. “Sandor knows a win on Saturday would catapult his name into the mix for the fights that I want. I don’t think it’s going to be an easy night at all, but I am planning on fighting the very best Sandor Martin and I am going to show all my skills and show that I am a force to be reckoned with. “I’ve experienced so many styles in my career, I’ve boxed several southpaws and sparred countless lefties. He’s a tricky one, he uses his height and reach, so I must be prepared to overcome those strengths he has – a good jab, good straight left, his ring generalship is good – so I need to be able to attack properly but also be wary in defense. “I don’t experience pressure. No matter who I fight I am there to do my job and that’s it – I have already won the fight multiple times in my head and that’s it. You only feel pressure if you are unsure of yourself and I’ve never felt that, so I am confident I will win and look good doing it.” A stacked undercard in support of the main event is led by WBO World Light-Flyweight king Elwin Soto (19-1 13 KOs) putting his crown on the line against Jonathan Gonzalez (24-3-1 14 KOs) while San Antonio talent Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez (13-0 9 KOs) clashes with Jose Alejandro Burgos (18-4-1 15 KOs). There’s plenty more young talent on the card as unbeaten Australian Super-Featherweight Brock Jarvis (19-0 17 KOs) fights under the Matchroom banner for the first time against Alejandro Frias Rodriguez (13-4-2 6 KOs), Marc Castro (3-0 3 KOs) fights in his hometown for the first time as a pro, and Diego Pacheco (12-0 9 KOs), Nikita Ababiy (10-0 6 KOs) and Khalil Coe (1-0 1 KO) all looking to add wins to their impressive starts in the pro game. |

I have the record (299 gyms sparred in), but there’s no record keeper for this. I did it for the love of the sport and this has become a passion for me. I’m happy and clean.
“I’m taking this one step at a time. I wanted to give it a shot, because I felt that it’s only right that I turn pro, if I’m training fighters to go pro. This may be just one time, or I could have a few more fights. Let’s see how it goes. I’m going through this process and have learned that it’s a business. My goal is to own my own gym.”

24-0 Santiago “Somer” Dominguez Returns this Friday to headline RJJ Boxing on UFC FIGHT PASS 52
LAS VEGAS (October 11, 2021) – Undefeated Santiago “Somer” Dominguez (24-0, 18 KOs), arguably Mexico’s No. 1 welterweight fighter, returns to the ring for the first time in 2021 to headline the October 15th RJJ Boxing on FIGHT PASS® 52, at Auditorio Benito Juarez in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico.
Presented by Roy Jones Jr. (RJJ) Boxing Promotions, in association with De La O Promotions, Kochul Pro and World Cup Boxing Series, streaming live and exclusively on UFC FIGHT PASS, the world’s leading digital subscription service for combat sports, starting at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT. To sign up for UFC FIGHT PASS, please visit www.ufcfightpass.com.
The heavy-handed Santiago, who is a former NABF Welterweight Champion, takes on Jesus “Chino” Antonio Rubio (13-4, 7 KOs) in the 10-round main event.
Santiago hasn’t fought since last December 10th, when he won a 10-round split decision over Ricardo Lara (22-8). “My body just needed a break,” Dominguez explained his 10-month inactive stretch. “I fought five times in 2019, four in 2020, and won the NABF welterweight title in the process. I’m ready physically, mentally, and spiritually.”
Rubio represents the toughest test of Dominguez’ 7-year pro career based on him challenging Alberto Puello (18-0) in his most recent fight, albeit in a loss by 12-round decision, for the vacant WBA Interim World Super Lightweight Championship. An 8-round win by decision against Sonny Fredrickson in his previous fight set-up Rubio’s title shot.
“I know he (Rubio) is a very good boxer,” Dominguez spoke about his opponent. “He defeated an American (Fredrickson) foe who was 21-3 at the time. He just fought for the world title. I expect him to come in shape and with a will to win. This will be a fight! I will make it a fight whether or not my opponent wants one or not.
“I know that eventually these big names will have to fight me. If all goes well (versus Rubio), I hope to get back into the WBC’s top 15 rankings, and have an opportunity to fight guys like Mikey Garcia, Danny Garcia, Amir Khan, and other great former world champions. I want to earn my world title opportunity and a victory over one of these great fighters will do just that for me.”
In the 10-round co-feature, former WBC Youth Silver Featherweight Champion Jose “El Sugar” Eduardo Nunez (21-1, 21 KOs) meets Osvaldo “Catotas” Maldonado (10-1, 5 KOs). One of the best kept secrets in boxing, Nunez has 21 knockouts in 21 victories but, Maldonado has the same style as the only fighter to defeat Nunez, Hiram Gallardo, who won a 6-round decision in 2018.
Lightweights Jose “Cheche Choryboy” Valenzuela (9-3, 3 KOs) and Jose Luis Vazquez (12-2, 5 KOs) are matched in an intra-state battle for Sinaloa bragging rights in an 8-rounder. Valenzuela is from Los Mochis, Vazquez lives in Culiacan.
In the RJJ Boxing on UFC FIGHT PASS opener, Mexican featherweights Nazario Castro (6-2, 3 KOs) squares off with Enrique Mejia Morales (3-1, 0 KOs) in a 6-round fight.

SAM JONES APPOINTED TALENT RELATIONS FOR THE UK FOR PROBELLUM
Probellum is happy to announce that S-JAM Boxing founding partner Sam Jones has joined the team as Talent Relations for the UK.
Jones has become one of the key figures in boxing since launching S-JAM several years ago, acquiring some of the very best fighters around the world, including heavyweight phenom Joe Joyce, who is ranked highly in all of the governing bodies, undefeated Albanian sensation Florian Marku, and current European super-middleweight champion Lerrone Richards.
He has also been guiding the careers of a number of highly-rated prospects who look destined for big things in the future, including Guido Vianello, Johnny Fisher, Soloman Dacres, John James Hedges and more.
The hard work and determination from Jones has allowed him to secure key working relationships with some of the biggest names in boxing, and now brings his expertise and knowledge to the Probellum team.
In his new role with Probellum, Jones will be working with fighters across the UK, whilst also handling operations for the brand, assisting with venues, press conferences, weigh-ins and more.
It sees Probellum add to their already incredible all-star team, which includes Richard Schaefer as President, Eric Winter as Chief Operating Officer, Harrison Whitman as Chief Strategy & Legal Officer, Anthony Petosa as Executive Vice President of Production and Creative, Anthony Catanzaro as Vice President of Boxing Operations, and Mike Altamura as Head of Talent Development.
Probellum has already established promotional alliances in Europe, Africa, Russia, the Middle East, and Australia, with some of the biggest names in the sport, including Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom and Kalle and Nisse Sauerland with Wasserman Boxing.
In an effort to find the best opportunities and most exciting match ups for athletes, Probellum is looking forward to collaborating with everyone from PBC to Top Rank to Golden Boy Promotions in the United States along with any other promotor anywhere in the world.
“This is a really proud but emotional day for me as I leave S-JAM Boxing, but I felt it was the perfect time and the perfect company to join and throw my hat into the promotional game,” said Jones.
“I’m extremely grateful to Probellum for giving me this huge opportunity but it’s one I know I’ll thrive on. I can’t put into words how grateful I am to my friend Adam Morallee and my first signing and one of my closest friends Joe Joyce, but I leave with him being number one contender for the world heavyweight title and that fills me with extreme pride and makes me extremely happy.
“I’d also like the thank every fighter within S-JAM and no doubt I’ll be keeping an eye on their progress and supporting them in their careers. I can’t wait to get started with this amazing new company and to play a part in helping it go from strength to strength, let’s go Probellum!”
“We’re ecstatic to bring in Sam Jones as Talent Relations for the UK at Probellum, said Richard Schaefer, President of Probellum. “You only have to look at what Sam has achieved in such a short amount of time to know that he has a very bright future in the sport.

BOXING LEGEND NONITO DONAIRE JOINS PROBELLUM

Los Angeles, CA – October 11, 2021 – Probellum is proud to announce the huge promotional signing of boxing legend and nine-time, four-weight world champion Nonito Donaire.
Donaire (41-6, 27 knockouts) is the reigning WBC bantamweight champion, and is universally recognised as one of the greatest boxers of the last 20 years.
The ‘Filipino Flash’ won his current world title with a fourth round knockout win over Nordine Oubaali earlier this year, while he has also claimed world honours at flyweight, super-bantamweight and featherweight.
He has been involved in some of the biggest fights that the sport has seen, sharing the ring with fellow greats like Jorge Arce, Guillermo Rigondeaux, Vic Darchinyan, Naoya Inoue and Carl Frampton.
An extremely popular figure, Donaire is loved and respected around the world, and will now look to add to his already-earned Hall of Fame legacy by joining forces with Probellum, and continuing his long-time relationship with Probellum President Richard Schaefer.
Probellum’s number one goal is to empower fighters and galvanize a global fanbase, while promoting the best and biggest fights to boxing fans around the world, with Donaire’s arrival helping to achieve that.
His signing sees him follow in the footsteps of other elite names to team up with Probellum, including Regis Prograis, Badou Jack, Eimantas Stanionis, Arthur Biyarslanov, Taras Shelestyuk, Ricky Burns, Eduardo Hernandez and Brandon Moore.
Probellum has also secured co-promotional agreements with some of the biggest promoters in the sport, such as Wasserman Boxing, Universum in Germany, Maravillabox Promotions in Spain, LNK Boxing in Latvia, Glozier Boxing in New Zealand, Shuan Boxing Promotions in the Dominican Republic, Team Ellis Boxing in Australia, Armin Tan Promotions in Indonesia, and Box Office Sports in Ghana.
“Richard Schaefer has always been a “’fighter’s first’ promoter,” said Nonito Donaire. “I am convinced that with his vision, leadership skills and passion for the fighters he will elevate the sport and most importantly continue to empower fighters. I am proud to be part of Team Probellum and continue my relationship and friendship with Richard.”
“In my past 14 years in active boxing, I have never known a person like Richard,” said Nonito’s manager and wife Rachel Donaire. “For 20 years he has made his name as the one who stood by the fighters.
“Every person I have spoken to who had worked with Richard had the utmost respect and admiration for his passion for the fighters. When we made the shift to work with Richard, it couldn’t be more true that he was a man of his word; fighters come FIRST.
“Richard is a man I would follow into the fire as his knowledge, experience and compassion to fighters is unrivalled. Congratulations to Richard and his team on Probellum. I couldn’t be more happy to continue this next journey with Richard in our corner.”
“Nonito and Rachel Donaire are not just the best husband and wife or fighter and trainer team in boxing today but most certainly in the history of the sport,” said Richard Schaefer, President of Probellum.

“I am fortunate to call him my friend. It is a pleasure and an honor for me to have him join Probellum and I can’t wait to help him unify the bantamweight division and conquer many more world titles.”
