Undefeated IBF Featherweight World Champion Josh Warrington has signed a multi-fight promotional deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing, with his future fights to be shown live on Sky Sports and DAZN.

‘The Leeds Warrior’ (30-0, 7 KOs) created history by becoming Leeds’ first ever male World Champion when he upset the odds to wrestle the IBF 126lbs crown from Lee Selby at Elland Road, the home of his beloved Leeds United, in May 2018.

Despite producing a career best performance against Selby, Warrington was again written off by many ahead of his first defence against Irish fight legend and two-weight World Champion Carl Frampton at Manchester Arena in December 2019.

Warrington retained his IBF Title in an epic Fight of the Year contender with ‘The Jackal’ that captivated the crowd from the opening bell with a blistering pace set by the Yorkshire hero as he earned a unanimous victory.

FRANK WARREN AND Queensberry Promotions can announce that the company has parted ways with IBF world featherweight champion Josh Warrington at the conclusion of his promotional agreement.

The now 30-0 man from Leeds joined forces with Queensberry in 2017 and was quickly steered into mandatory position for the world title showdown with Lee Selby that he long craved. This was delivered on a memorable night at Elland Road in May 2018 and Josh subsequently defended in a huge Box Office event against Carl Frampton in the December at Manchester Arena.

Home advantage for a mandatory defence against fellow Yorkshireman Kid Galahad was secured in June 2019, with his last fight being a voluntary defence against Sofiane Takoucht, which resulted in an emphatic second round victory.

OLYMPIC Gold medal hope Frazer Clarke believes Joe Joyce will shock Daniel Dubois in their sensational heavyweight battle.

Few boxer are more qualified than Clarke to give a verdict on the clash that has got the nation talking.

NEW YORK (February 10, 2020) -Split T Management fighters were very successful on Saturday night at the Civic Center in Hammond, Indiana.

The premier boxing management company had all seven of its members come out victorious on the massive card that saw the return of 2016 United States Olympian Charles Conwell

Conwell, who is the USBA Super Welterweight champion, remained undefeated with a 5th round stoppage over Ramses Agaton in a scheduled eight-round bout.

The 22 year-old native of Cleveland, Conwell raised his mark to 12-0 with nine knockouts.

Conwell’s half-brother, Isaiah Steen also remained perfect as he took out Kenneth Council in the opening frame of their scheduled eight-round super middleweight bout.

Steen, 23 years-old of Cleveland is now 14-0 with 11 knockouts.

Ebanie Bridges made a successful American debut as she won a six-round unanimous decision over Crystal Hoy in a bantamweight bout by shutout scores of 60-54 on all cards.

Bridges of New South Wales, Australia is now 4-0.

Junior Welterweight Rolando Vargas stopped Rondale Hubbert in the 2nd round of their scheduled six-round bout.

Vargas, 20 years-old of Milwaukee is now 5-0 with all wins coming via stoppage.

Melissa St. Vil captured the WBO NABO Lightweight title with a 10-round unanimous decision over Jessica Camara.

St. Vil of Brooklyn, who is a two-time world title challenger ups her record to 13-4-4.

Scores were 97-93 and 96-94 twice.

Leatitia Robinson won a six-round unanimous decision over Claire Hafner in a super middleweight bout.

Robinson won by scores of 60-54 on all cards and is now 16-1.

Nery (30-0, 24 KOs) is a power puncher who has stopped his last 11 opponents and 15 of his last 16. The 25-year-old southpaw from Tijuana, Mexico scored a dominant stoppage victory over former champion McJoe Arroyo in March and returned in July to stop former champion Juan Carlos Payano. He scored a TKO victory over Shinsuke Yamanaka to win the bantamweight world title in 2018 and will now move up to 122 pounds to seek a world title in a second weight class.

Representing Sonora, Mexico, Alameda (25-0, 13 KOs) is unbeaten since turning pro in 2014 after a strong amateur career, and will step up in competition as he faces Nery for a shot at a world title bout. The 26-year-old is ranked No. 12 by the WBC and most recently knocked out Jordan Escobar in April 2019, after three victories in 2018. Alameda will fight in the U.S. for the second time when he enters the ring on March 28, after scoring a body shot knockout over Andre Wilson in a January 2016 bout in Los Angeles.

The 29-year-old Wallin (20-1, 13 KOs) will return to the ring in Las Vegas, where he nearly defeated former unified heavyweight champion Tyson Fury in September, when he opened up a gruesome cut over Fury’s right eye with a legal punch that nearly halted the fight. While Wallin dropped the decision, he proved his mettle as a potential future heavyweight champion. Representing his native Sundsvall, Sweden, Wallin trains in New York with former champion Joey Gamache. Wallin’s last fight in Las Vegas was his second in the U.S., after his debut on SHOWTIME in April ended in a no contest because of a cut suffered by his opponent in the first round.

Fighting out of New South Wales, Australia, Browne (29-2, 25 KOs) most recently scored a knockout victory over John Hopoate in November, his second win of 2019. He’s won four of his last five bouts, with his only career losses coming to Dillian Whyte and David Allen in the U.K. Browne won his first 25 pro fights, including a stoppage of Ruslan Chagaev in 2016 to capture a WBA Heavyweight Championship. He will be making his U.S. debut.

George (10-0, 6 KOs) emerged victorious in a battle of then unbeaten fighters when he faced Escudero on SHOWTIME in November, taking a split-decision victory. The 30-year-old didn’t start boxing until he was 19 and is managed by Washington Redskins All-Pro offensive lineman Trent Williams, and trained in Houston by NFL All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson and James Cooper. George will look to transition from prospect to contender by defeating Escudero again on March 28.

Escudero (10-1, 9 KOs) will look to bounce back and even the score against George, and in turn bolster his own position in the light heavyweight division. The 26-year-old from Buenos Aires, Argentina has fought primarily in the U.S. since turning pro in 2017. His amateur career saw him become a national champion in Argentina in 2014 and represent his country in the Pan-Am Games in 2015. Escudero currently trains in Miami and scored three stoppage wins in 2019 before facing George for the first time.

Philadelphia, Pa. – February 11, 2020 – Banner Promotions has signed undefeated heavyweight Isaac Munoz Gutierrez to a co-promotional deal with United Promotions.

Gutierrez, 27 years-old of Torreon Coahuila de Zaragoza, Mexico has a record of 12-0-1 with 10 knockouts.

“We are happy to bring Isaac to Banner Promotions. He is a very good prospect that was brought to my attention by Don MacDonald of United Promotions. I have seen him and he has good power. I feel that he will make waves in the heavyweight division,” said Banner Promotions President Artie Pelullo.

Gutierrez was 220-20 as an amateur, and was a multi-time Mexican National champion, and was part of the Mexican National boxing team for two years. Gutierrez competed in the World Series of Boxing.

Gutierrez turned professional on September 9, 2011 with a 1st round stoppage over Misael Jossy Chavez. Gutierrez has established himself as a power puncher, and is coming off a 1st round stoppage over Jesus Alberto Martinez Torres on September 7th.

Rising Welterweight starlet Reshat Mati will make his UK debut on the undercard of Scott Quigg vs. Jono Carroll at Manchester Arena on Saturday March 7, live on Sky Sports in the UK and DAZN in the US.

New York’s Mati (6-0, 4 KO’s) has shot to six wins without loss since turning over to the pro ranks in October 2018.

‘The Albanian Bear’ made the perfect start to life in the paid code, disposing of Adan Ahumada inside three rounds in Chicago, before decisioning Juan Sepulveda at Madison Square Garden three weeks later.

The 21-year-old’s winning form continued into 2019, securing a first round KO in his home city before a shoulder injury ruled him out until October. Mati showed no sign of ring rust on his return in the Windy City, notching a shutout points win and banking valuable rounds.

Two knockout victories rounded off his first full year as a professional and now he will be eager to impress the British faithful and set the standard for an exciting 2020.

ORANGE, Calif. (Feb. 11, 2020) – Lightweight prospect Ruben “Ace” Torres (11-0, 9 KOs), will headline Thompson Boxing’s “Path To Glory” event on Friday, Feb. 21st, from the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, Calif.

Torres, who is rapidly making a name for himself with his aggressive style, headlines his third straight Thompson Boxing card, as he faces the dangerous knockout artist from Sonora, Mexico, Gabino Cota (19-10-2, 17 KOs), in an eight-round main event clash.

The 22-year old Torres, who hails from South Central Los Angeles, is guided by Danny Zamora and trains out of the Santa Fe Springs Activities Center in, Santa Fe Springs, Calif. Torres is most known for his power on the right hand, as all but two of his fights have ended by way of knockout.

“This is such a great opportunity for me,” said Torres. “I’m comfortable and happy with my promoter, they are allowing me to elevate my game and are putting me in a great position along with my trainer/manager Danny Zamora. Torres is no stranger to headlining a show as his last two outings have been eight-round main event bouts, with “Ace” knocking out his opponents in the first and second round respectively. New York, NY (February 11, 2020) On Saturday night, February 8, several DiBella Entertainment fighters posted big victories across the United States and internationally.

“Merciless” Mary McGee (27-3, 15 KOs) successfully defended her IBF junior welterweight title for the first time near her hometown of Gary, IN, with an eighth-round stoppage against Deanha “The Silencer” Hobbs (8-2, 5 KOs), of Queensland, Australia, at the Civic Center in Hammond, IN. One of McGee’s biggest strengths is her punching accuracy and that was evident again versus Hobbs. McGee effectively countered Hobbs’ offense each round with her own heavy shots. When in close, McGee would unload combinations to the head and body. Hobbs was hurt by McGee’s left hook in the seventh and the champion was determined to go for the finish. In the eighth, an extended barrage aimed at a tired Hobbs against the ropes forced the referee to intervene for the TKO win. The victory, in front of a huge crowd of local supporters, was the seventh straight for McGee, who won the world title with a 10th-round stoppage of Ana Laura Esteche on December 5, 2019.

Christina “Medusa” Linardatou (13-2, 6 KOs), of Athens, Greece, regained the WBO super lightweight world title in Hammond, IN, with a 10-round unanimous decision against Prisca “die Kriegerin” Vicot (11-7, 2 KOs), of England. She pressed forward, landing the harder shots throughout and decked Vicot in round three with a right hand. Linardatou had previously lost the title to Katie Taylor in a hotly contested battle on November 2, 2019.

Also featured on the card in Hammond, IN, in a scheduled eight-rounder, the 22-year-old 2016 US Olympian Charles Conwell (12-0, 9 KOs), of Cleveland, OH, returned to the ring with a fifth-round knockout of Mexican southpaw Ramses “El Faraon” Agaton (22-12-3, 12 KOs), of Tlalnepantla. Conwell worked to close the gap against his taller foe then often pounded the body with combinations. After four completed rounds of getting outworked, Agaton retired on his stool, with the official time of the stoppage being 0:01 of round five. It was the first fight for Conwell following the tragic passing of Patrick Day after their fight on October 12, 2019.

In a scheduled six-rounder in Hammond, IN, top undefeated middleweight prospect, 23-year-old Isaiah Steen (14-0, 10 KOs), of Cleveland, OH, a training partner of Conwell’s, earned a first-round stoppage against Kenneth Council (10-4-1, 8 KOs), of Knoxville, TX. Steen dropped his adversary with an overhand right then, shortly thereafter, Council complained about an injured right shoulder which prompted the referee to end the contest via TKO.

Also, on Saturday night in Daytona Beach, FL, 2016 Olympian Juan Carlos Carrillo (3-0, 2 KOs), of Barranquilla, Colombia, knocked out Ben Williams (1-3), of Benton Harbor, MI, in the second round a scheduled six-round light heavyweight clash. The 27-year-old Carrillo, who represented Colombia at the Rio Olympics, landed a left hook to the body that sent Williams to the deck resulting in the knockout at the 2:27 mark of the frame. As an amateur, Carrillo compiled an impressive 388-23 record, winning gold at the 2012 Colombian National Games, 2012 Pacific Cup Tournament, 2011 Colombian National Championships, 2010 Colombian Youth National Championships, and silver at the 2014 Central American & Caribbean Games. The event, held at the Hard Rock Hotel in Daytona Beach, FL, was promoted by women’s boxing legend and 2020 Hall-of-Fame Inductee Christy Martin.

In Vienna, Virginia, heavyweight contender Mike Balogun (16-0, 12 KOs), of Upper Marlboro, MD, scored a first-round stoppage of Adnan Buharalija, of Norcross, Georgia, in a scheduled eight-rounder. A right hook upstairs dropped Buharalija near the end of the opening frame and the fight was stopped at the 2:59 mark. It was the fourth knockout victory in his last five fights for the former college football standout who played with the Oklahoma Sooners.

Fighting at home in Bilbao, Spain, top lightweight contender Jon Fernandez (21-1, 18 KOs) knocked out Colombian Aristides Perez (31-13-2, 17 KOs) in the first round of a scheduled eight-round bout. Fernandez pressured from the outset, focusing on Perez’ midsection. Following a sustained attack against the ropes, an exhausted Perez took a knee. Once he arose, Fernandez unleashed a follow-up barrage to force a second and final knockdown to secure the TKO win. It was the fifth straight victory for the 24-year-old Fernandez, who is co-promoted by DiBella Entertainment and MaravillaBox Promotions.

Lewis Ritson will clash with former long-reigning World Champion Miguel Vazquez on a huge night of action at the Utilita Arena Newcastle on Saturday April 4, live on Sky Sports in the UK and DAZN in the US.

Geordie favourite Ritson (20-1, 12 KOs) produced a career-best performance to beat bitter rival Robbie Davies Jr in an enthralling Fight of the Year candidate last time out in October to stay in line for a shot at the WBA Super-Lightweight crown.

Tough Mexican Vazquez (42-9, 16 KOs) previously held the IBF Lightweight World Title for four years, making six defences of the title in that time, before losing to Mickey Bey via a controversial split decision in Las Vegas.

“He’s obviously been there and done it and got the t-shirt,” said Ritson. ‘’He is a world class fighter who has fought at the very top level of the sport and continues to do so, I need to be on my A game to get the win here.

“Vazquez can do a bit of everything. He’s awkward, he can fight, he can box, but whatever he brings to the table, we’ll have to adapt to that and work out a way to beat him.

Gassiev (26-1 19 KOs) announced his move to Heavyweight in April after signing a promotional deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing USA, Ural Boxing and Warriors Boxing to fight on DAZN, following hot on the heels of his old Cruiserweight foe Oleksandr Usyk, the last man he faced in an undisputed World title clash and the final of the World Boxing Super Series in July 2018.

The Russian banger was set to make his bow in July at College Park Center in Arlington, Texas against Joey Dawejko but a shoulder injury in the build-up forced the 26 year old to delay his entrance into a red-hot division.

Now a fully fit Gassiev does get the chance to debut in the Lone Star state, this time against seasoned Louisianan Forrest (26-3 20 KOs), the active 31 year old who has five wins from six fights in the last 12 months, and ‘The Iron’ is looking to sharpen his tools for an assault on the Heavyweights.

“I’m so happy to finally be able to make my debut at Heavyweight,” said Gassiev. “It has been frustrating not being able to fight but I am ready to go now, and I want to make up for lost time.

Madrimov (4-0 4 KOs) defends his WBA Inter-Continental Junior-Middleweight title in an official eliminator for the #2 position in the WBA against Venezuelan Charlie Navarro (29-9 22 KOs). Madrimov landed the title with a stunning second round KO of Frank Rojas in Verona, NY in March and maintained his 100 per cent KO ratio as a pro with sixth and fifth round wins at Madison Square Garden in the Big Apple in June and October.

The 24 year old Uzbekistani talent will be buoyed by his fellow countryman and stablemate ‘MJ’ Murodjon Akhmadaliev becoming Uzbekistan’s first ever unified champion, and victory over the experienced former World title challenger will edge Madrimov closer to a World title shot in 2020.

“I am so excited to be getting my first fight of 2020 on such a big card in Frisco,” said Madrimov. “I was so happy to watch MJ beat Daniel Roman in Miami last weekend, and that win has spurred me on to join him as a World champion this year.

LAS VEGAS, NV (February 10, 2020) – Undefeated NABF Welterweight Champion Blair “The Flair” Cobbs (14-0-1, 10 KOs) hosted a Las Vegas media workout Saturday in preparation for his upcoming bout against Samuel Kotey (23-2, 16 KOs) which takes place Friday, February 14 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

Najmitdinov on July 25, 2013 with a unanimous decision over Botir Nosirov. Najmitdinov won his first nine bouts before facing former world champion Viktor Postol.

That bout, which took place on September 16, 2017 saw Jamshidbek drop Postol three times but was denied those two of the knockdowns, due to Postol fighting in front of his home-country fans. Jamshidbek pushed the action, and established himself as one of the top-140 pounders in the world. Since that fight, Jamshidebek has won five in a row, which includes his last bout when he won the WBC CIS and Slovac titles with a 1st round stoppage over Giorgi Khutsishvili on October 6th in Uzbekistan.

“Against Postol, it was a fight that I took on short notice. I wasn’t in the best of shape. I want to fight him again. I hope that he beats Jose Ramirez, because I want to fight him for the world championship when I get the rematch. I just want to tell my fans, that the best is yet to come from me, and I am looking forward to getting started in the United States,” said Najmitdinov.

On Friday, February 21, Russian heavyweight destroyer Apti Davtaev will make a quick return to the ring in an important eight-round showdown against fellow undefeated John Napari of Accra, Ghana.

Davtaev (19-0-1, 18 KOs) and Napari (21-0, 15 KOs) will meet as a chief supporting bout on Akhmat Promotion Company’s stacked event at the Dynamo Palace of Sports in Krylatskoye, Moscow, featuring undefeated Russian super welterweight champion Islam “The Sniper” Edisultanov’s (9-0, 6 KOs) domestic battle against tough southpaw Evgeny Terentiev (15-2, 7 KOs).

Ever improving under the tutelage of SugarHill Steward, the powerful Davtaev will be looking to continue the brutal momentum he has been building since signing his co-promotional deal with Salita Promotions in late 2017.

Two unbeaten pro “graduates” of the Fighting Life Boxing Program, super featherweights Timmy Ramos (5-0-2, 5 KOs) and Nelson “Chino” Perez (2-0m, 2 KOs), are fighting in the main event and co-feature, respectively. Both train at UpperKuts and haven’t forgotten where they come from, often teaching youngsters in the program how to train to become boxers.

“Timmy and Nelson have been with me for years,” Thomas added. “They’ve used their efforts in boxing to better their lives. We’re all family here. Timmy and Nelson are still part of our program because they help the other kids.”

Ramos, fighting out of Framingham, was a two-time New England Golden Gloves champion as an amateur. He is in the 6-round, main event against Carlos Marrero, III (2-3-1), of Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Perez, who hails from nearby Marlboro, is another New England Golden Gloves champion. He faces an opponent to be determined in the 6-round co-featured event. “I try to teach the kids to stay out of trouble,” Perez remarked. “I coach them a little to help them live and prosper. It’s great seeing these kids in the gym. I’m very excited to be part of this event to benefit Fighting Life.”

Boston heavyweight Tracey Johnson (4-7-6), whose brother Demetrius Andrade is a past Olympian and reigning WBO super middleweight champion, takes on Larry “Hitman” Pryor (11-22-5, 5 KOs) in a 6-round bout.

A pair of quality MMA fighters, Albania-born super middleweight Kastriot “Slaughterhouse” Xhema, fighting out of Greenwich, CT, makes his pro boxing debut against Framingham favorite, Brazilian-born Saul “The Spider” Almeida (0-10-3, 20-11 in MMA).

Katharina Thanderz says she wants to fight Terri Harper next having witnessed the British boxer dethrone Eva Wahlstrom for the WBC Female World Super Featherweight title on Saturday in Sheffield, England.

Thanderz, who holds the interim WBC World title, was ringside to watch Harper defeat Wahlstrom, with whom she sparred in the build up to this fight, and is now looking forward to her own showdown with the WBC and IBO champion.

“It was amazing to sit ringside to watch Eva Wahlstrom and Terri Harper fight,” said Thanderz, who outpointed Danila Ramos in Oslo in November to claim the interim World title and earn her shot at the winner of Harper and Wahlstrom.

“It was a very good technical fight. They both had their moments, and trying to give a neutral opinion, I would say I had Eva up on my scorecard until round 7. Then she went down, which didn’t look like a normal knockdown, she seemed to lose her balance, and Harper did better in the second half of the fight, which is why I guess she finally got the win. However it was a very close fight.

“I thought Harper did a good job, as did Wahlstrom, but I wouldn’t say ‘impressed’ is the right word to describe what I thought of her performance. She is a good boxer though, with the potential to get even better with all the hard work she puts in, and for that I do respect and admire her.

“Absolutely, I want to fight Harper next, and as interim WBC Champion, I hope and expect to fight her next. A fight between me and Harper would be completely different to the fight between Harper and Wahlstrom. Physically, I’d say I’m more similar to Harper, and her reach and length wouldn’t be a problem for me. I won’t give away our game plan, but what I can say is it would be a great fight, and I am convinced it would end with my arm being raised.”

Having experienced the atmosphere in Sheffield, Thanderz says she would have no problem fighting Harper at home and has welcomed the challenge.

“It’s not in my hands to decide where to fight. Of course, home advantage can be an important factor, but for me it’s more important that the fight takes place. I’m interested in fighting the best, and sometimes you need to be brave and go out to get it. I have always admired boxers who have done that.

“I observed the hostile reception that the fans in Sheffield gave Eva Wahlstrom when she entered the ring, so I would be prepared for exactly the same treatment, and it would probably make me stronger.”

Gary Russell Jr. defeated mandatory challenger Tugstsogt Nyambayar by unanimous decision to make the 5th defense of the WBC Featheweight title at the PPL Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

It was a tactical fight early, which played right into Russell’s hands as he was able to establish his speed advantage. Nyambayar was able to get into the fight in the middle rounds as his pressure was controlling the action. There were several nice exchanges that saw Russell be able get the better of some of those as his experience in championship fights was evident. Down the stretch each took turns winning rounds, but it was Russell’s ring generalship that won out in the end by scores of 118-110, 117-111 and 116-112.

“We put the work in every day in the gym. I’m a perfectionist. We knew we had a very tough opponent and I knew he was going to bring his physical best. He had everything to gain and nothing to lose. We just focused and showed I’m one of the longest reigning champions for a reason

“The difference was ring generalship, hand speed and boxing IQ. He only had 11 pro fights, of course he was an Olympic silver medalist, but he only had those 11 pro fights. I’ve had over 30 and I think my experience was enough to overcome and win this fight.

“We never take a day off. I’ll probably be back in the gym next week. We’ll keep our wheels turning and stay sharp.

“If we have to move up in weight for these top fighters to feel like they have an advantage and take the fight, then we’ll do it.”

“It was definitely the kind of fight that I expected. I knew that I was fighting a tough competitor. We knew he’d be strong, but I felt like my hand speed, my ring generalship and my boxing intellect would ultimately overcome in this fight and that’s what happened.

“I kept my jab in his face and in the back half of the fight, I told myself to hold my hands up, come forward and press the action. I wanted to dictate the action and that’s exactly what we did.

“Nyambayar was definitely one of the better fighters that I competed against. I feel like he would give any of the other 126-pound fighters trouble. If he stays focused, he’ll become a world champion.”

TUGSTSOGT NYAMBAYAR

“It wasn’t my night. He was the better man tonight. I didn’t do my work the way I was supposed to. He is a great champion who fought a great fight.

“I made a mistake by waiting for him during the fight. I’d love the rematch if I can get it.

“I want to thank the Mongolian fans for coming out tonight and I’m grateful to everyone in Mongolia.”

In a fight void of a lot action, Guillermo Rigondeaux won the WBA Bantamweight title with a 12-round splits decision over Liborio Solis

In round seven, Rigondeaux landed a hard left that put Solis on the seat of his pants. The fight saw mostly Solis following Rigondeuax without either guy doing much of anything.

Rigondeaux, 117.4 lbs of Cuba won by scores of 116-112 and 115-111. Solis won a card 115-111.

Rigondeaux is 20-1. Solis, 117.4 lbs of Venezuela is 30-6-1.

GUILLERMO RIGONDEAUX

“Our team is with me more than their own families. This isn’t just my victory, but it’s a victory for me whole team to get me this win at this age.

“Liborio is an excellent fighter, but I saw the opportunity to strike and scored the knockdown.

“Solis is an excellent boxer and he gave me a run for my money. It was a competitive fight, congratulations to him for keeping up in the ring, but everyone knows the better fighter got the win.

“When you get to my level, you just have to keep doing your work, and good things will come to you.

“Like I’ve showed everyone before, I can fight right in the middle of the ring. I tried that in the first round, but after that round, Ronnie Shields told me to show him some boxing and cut the ring off.

“I’m available for anyone who wants to get in the ring. Who do the fans want to see me fight? I’m ready for any fighter. Now that I’m at my weight, let’s go hunting.”

LIBORIO SOLIS

“I thought I won the fight. Going backwards is no way to win a vacant title. I put the majority of the pressure on him. I’m not going to argue with the judges, but I thought I did enough to win.

“The punch surprised me on the knockdown, but I wasn’t hurt. I was ready to fight immediately right after.

“I hurt him in the first round and that’s what caused him to run. I’d like a rematch because I thought I got the better of him tonight.”

In a sensational junior lightweight elimination bout, Jaime Arboleda held on to take a 12-round split decision over Jayson Vekez in a war.

The guys took turns wailing on each other. Arboleda was bleeding from the nose in round seven. Velez came on late and dropped Arboleda in the final frame. Arboleda was hurt several times in the final frame, but he was able to reach the final bell and win by scores of 114-113 twice and 115-112 for Velez.

Arboleda, 129.5 lbs of Panama is 16-1. Velez, 130 lbs of Caguas, PR is 29-6-1.

JAIME ARBOLEDA

“Jayson Velez is a great fighter and has a great style. He was trying to use that to break me down tonight. Velez has faced a lot of good fighters and I believe I belong with those fighters. I had him hurt badly a few times, but I just got a little bit ahead of myself and didn’t finish.

“My next fight is up to my team. I’m in line for the title, but we’ll see how things play out. I want to stay busy for sure this year.

“It was a clean shot on the knockdown but it happened because I wasn’t doing what I was supposed to stylistically and with my footwork. I was a bit tired, but I wasn’t too hurt. I went right back to fighting.”

JAYSON VELEZ

“It was a close fight, but I think I won the fight. It could have gone either way. I think I knocked him down twice but they didn’t count one of them. It’s okay. I showed that I’m a warrior like always. I have six losses now but I’ve never been knocked out. I’m still here, and I believe I’ll be world champion someday.”
