TOLUCA, MX (December 6, 2023) – Unbeaten middleweight, Yoenlis Hernandez (2-0), one of the most decorated amateurs to ever come out of Cuba, is ready to take the professional boxing world by storm. He just signed a co-promotional deal with Warriors Boxing and Chris Lawrence’s Heavyweight Factory Promotions. He’ll be guided by manager Robert Valle who will handle all executive decisions.

Toluca, Mexico has become the new home for Hernandez, where he now trains under the mentorship of acclaimed boxing coach, Jacob “Panda” Majal, who also guides the corners of IBF Jr. Lightweight world champion Subriel Matias, IBF Bantamweight champion Emmanuel Rodriguez, and WBA #1 ranked super bantamweight contender Kevin Gonzalez, to name a few.

In the main event, Cuban WBO featherweight world champion Robeisy “El Tren” Ramirez puts his belt on the line against unbeaten Mexican contender Rafael “El Divino” Espinoza. 

Two-time Olympic gold medalist Ramirez (13-1, 8 KOs) made significant strides in 2022 under trainer Ismael Salas, securing victories against Eric Donovan, Abraham Nova, and Jose Matias Romero. He continued his success in 2023 by capturing the WBO featherweight world title with a unanimous decision win over former world champion Isaac Dogboe and defending it with a fifth-round TKO against Satoshi Shimizu in July, establishing himself as a dominant force in the 126-pound division.

After more than a decade in the professional ranks, Espinoza (21-0, 18 KOs) is set for his first shot at a world title. With a towering height of 6’1″, he boasts a significant seven-inch height advantage and enters the title bout on a five-fight knockout streak, including stoppage wins this year over Rafael Rosas Ramirez and Ally Mwerangi.

In the 10-round junior middleweight co-feature, Puerto Rican sensation Xander Zayas squares off against Spain’s Jorge Fortea.

Zayas (17-0, 11 KOs), who signed with Top Rank at 16, has been steadily rising since his pro debut in October 2019. In 2022, he secured wins over Quincy LaVallais, Alexis Salazar, and Elias Espadas, followed by victories over Ronald Cruz and Roberto Valenzuela Jr. in 2023. With his third win of the year, he aims to solidify his position as a title contender.

Fortea (24-3-1, 9 KOs), a 13-year pro from Spain, is coming off a decision win over the previously unbeaten Ismael Flores in April. He is riding a three-bout winning streak and is a former WBC Latino 154-pound belt-holder.

The undercard, featuring some of Top Rank’s best and brightest up and coming talent, streams exclusively on ESPN+ at 5:40 p.m. ET / 2:40 p.m. PT.

Devin Haney and Regis Prograis came face-to-face for the first time in fight week – signaling the countdown is on to their blockbuster battle for the WBC World Super-Lightweight title at Chase Center in San Francisco on Saturday night, live on DAZN PPV in North America and on DAZN worldwide
 
Tickets have being flying as elite boxing ends a lengthy absence from the Bay Area, and there was no better spot than the famous Golden Gate Bridge to better signify the massive night ahead for both men.
 
Unbeaten Haney is looking to bridge the five-pound gap between the Lightweight division he left behind holding all the belts, and the 140lb division he seeks to rip the WBC belt from ruler Prograis and become a two-weight King in his first pro fight on home turf. 
 
Defending champion Prograis has no intention of surrendering the green and gold though, and the New Orleans man is in no mood to let Haney reach the other side where the unification battles that ‘Rougarou’ craves are waiting.
 
Haney and Prograis will face-off two more times ahead of Saturday’s action, and fans can watch both the press conference and the weigh-in live on Matchroom’s YouTube channel – but can get even closer to the action on Friday lunchtime, with free entry to the weigh-in at Chase Center on Friday, with information on how to get tickets to be released tomorrow morning (Wednesday).
 

Fight Week has arrived here in Toronto, Canada for a night of World Championship Boxing presented to you by Lee Baxter Promotions. Canada’s Amanda Galle faces 3x World Title Challenger, Niorkis Carreno, for the vacant IBO World Bantamweight Title in a 10×2 minute round contest.

Amanda Galle (8-0-1 1KO), of Mississauga, Ontario, was three weeks out from her first shot at the world title when hearing of her opponent’s hand injury, that led to the fight being pushed back a month. With Galle’s experience in both the amateur and professional ranks, she won’t let this affect her preparation or performance on the night. Winning titles is nothing new to Galle, as an amateur she won numerous Canadian National titles, was 4-time Ringside World Amateur Boxing Champion and since turning over to the pro ranks she has won the Canadian Super Bantamweight Title against World Title challenger, Tania Walters. Galle’s previous matches have ultimately been preparing and leading her towards the heights of our sport, the World Championship. Different date, but same plan for Galle, to win the World Title in front of her hometown fans.

In the other corner stands, Niorkis Carreno (24-3 19KOs) of Venezuela. Carreno has previously challenged for the WBC Minimumweight, WBO Flyweight and most recently the WBO Bantamweight World Title against Danish star, Dina Thorslund. Falling just short in her three pervious World Title shots, Carreno is not willing to let a fourth chance at the title slip away from her. Carreno is a clinical finisher, stopping 19 of her 24 opponents within the distance. Both fighters are ready to do what it takes to be victorious on the night.

Two undefeated fighters are putting it all on the line for the Canadian Cruiserweight title. Toronto’s Peter Nowaczek (4-0 3KOs) takes on the champion, Salar Gholami (6-0 3KOs) for the Canadian strap in an 8-round contest. Nowaczek and Gholami have previously sparred together and have a good knowledge of each other’s styles, which adds an interesting factor to the match.

Josh Lupia (12-0 10KOs) continues to impress as the welterweight takes on Ismael Urieta (15-9-1 10KOs). Since his return to the ring in July 2022, Lupia has been making statement after statement. Last time at REBEL, Lupia beat Lanardo Tyner. Tyner has previously shared the ring with the likes of Lamont Peterson, Jessie Vargas and Saul Canelo Alvarez.

Top Canadian prospect, Moe Zawadi (6-1-0 5KOs) is back in action against Gregory Miller (2-7-0 2KOs). Hard-hitting Zawadi earned himself a highlight reel knockout over fellow Canadian, Marco Parente, last time at REBEL. The tough and more seasoned Miller will look to use his experience to upset the younger Zawadi.

A rematch is on the cards for Ross Mylet (9-1-1 2KOs) and Luis Vara Carrillo (6-9-5 2KOs), a draw last time out left fans looking forward to the rematch. Canadian Bantamweight Champ, Mylet looks to settle the score on December 10.

Cameroon native, Stephane Fondjo (11-1-0 9KOs) makes his Canadian debut. Fondjo is the WBC Middle Eastern and WBA Asian South Super Middleweight champion. He is taking on Isreal Nava Lopez (3-3-0 2KOs).

Undefeated Super Middleweight, Nawid Zaman (2-0 1KO) makes his first appearance on a Lee Baxter card. Zaman, who is proving to be a fan favourite, will face Eliseo Ramirez Perez (1-4-1 0KO).

Former World Title challenger, Jessica Camara (11-4-0 2KOs) is also on the card. Pushing towards another shot at the World Title, Camara is currently ranked No1 in the WBC Super Lightweight rankings.

MAZATLAN, Mexico (December 5, 2023) –- Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez, the first Mexican boxer to capture a world super middleweight title, will promote his first pro boxing show in Mexico this Friday night at Cancha German Evers in his hometown of Mazatlán.

Jaime Mungía was last seen in June 2023 winning the WBC Silver Super Middleweight Championship against the rugged, former world title contender Sergiy Derevyanchenko in a masterful performance that was lauded as a Fight of the Year Candidate. Munguía has held the WBO Super Welterweight title from 2018 to 2019, successfully defending it five times.

LONDON, UK – December 5, 2023 – Adam Azim makes the first defence of his EBU European Super Lightweight Title against undefeated former champion Enock Poulsen on Saturday, February 3rd at The OVO Arena Wembley in London, live on Sky Sports in the UK and Ireland, and Peacock in the USA.

Azim and Poulsen’s European Title clash will provide star support for the hugely anticipated WBA World Title Final Eliminator bout between unbeaten #1 and #2 world ranked light heavyweights Joshua Buatsi and Dan Azeez that headlines a massive night of boxing in the capital.

Josh Kelly will now face Colombian KO artist Placido Ramirez when he returns home to fight in Sunderland on December 16, live on DAZN. 

‘Pretty Boy’ was due to face the dangerous Roarke Knapp but injury has forced the South African out of their super welterweight showdown at the Beacon of Light.

In his place comes Ramirez, the big-punching 29-year-old who heads to Wearside next week knowing that he can catapult himself into world title contention by wrecking Kelly’s homecoming party. 

Kelly, ranked as the No1 contender on the planet, will be fighting in Sunderland for the first time as a professional and knows Ramirez represents a major threat to his big plans for 2024, which include a world title tilt and a fight at the Stadium of Light. 

Also added to the event is one of British boxing’s most exciting young fighters, Tom Welland. 

The 19-year-old announced himself to the paid ranks with a devastating fourth round stoppage win on his debut in Brighton last month. 

And Welland joins Newcastle’s Dan Toward, fresh from his stunning debut knockout triumph in Bolton on Friday night, as Wasserman Boxing showcases two of the country’s brightest young stars on DAZN.

The IBF world middleweight title eliminator between Denis Radovan and Andrei Mikhailovich has been postponed, however.

Radovan is ranked No3 with IBF and knew victory in Sunderland would land him a shot at world champion Janibek Alimkhanuly, but injury means the unbeaten 31-year-old must now wait to secure his chance.

NEW YORK (December 4 , 2023) – Fresh off his scintillating knockout of English welterweight champion Danny Ball (13-2-1, 6 KOs), newly crowned World Boxing Association (WBA) Continental Welterweight Champion Paddy “The Real Deal” Donovan (12-0, 9 KOs) gained invaluable exposure worldwide by fighting on a DAZN pay-per-view headlined by the rematch between Irish superstar Katie Taylor (22-1) and previously undefeated, unified world super lightweight champion Chantelle Cameron (18-1), that was streamed live from 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland.

The 24-year-old Donovan lit up the sellout crowd with his fan-friendly style of boxing, displaying superior hand and foot speed, as well as dynamite in his hands as he picked up the pace in the third round, followed by an explosive fourth when he closed the show.

Donovan lived up to his nickname and pre-fight hype, cracking Ball with a powerful left that rocked his world. The game Ball somehow stayed upright, at least temporarily, but Donovan trapped him in a corner and unleashed nearly a 50 punch-barrage, mostly unanswered, decking his opponent with a vicious body shot as he moved out of the corner. Ball’s corner wisely threw in the towel before the judge’s count started.

“I looked in my corner (in the fourth round),” Donovan noted, “and Andy (Lee, his head trainer) said to go get him. I did! There was a lot of pressure to deliver in Ireland because there was a lot of talk about me fighting. The crowd anticipated my fight, and I handled it well. The fight went as good as I could have dreamed. I knew I had the talent but my maturity at 24 is where I’ve improved the most this past year. It went as we trained, and I knocked him out in the fourth round. My footwork was good, I set-up my shots and came out of the fight without a scratch. This was my best fight to date.”

In a post-fight press conference, Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn proclaimed Donovan the newest Irish boxing superstar, in addition to indicating that he’s interested in promoting a fight in Paddy’s hometown of Limerick with him headlining.

“Superstars are made on the big stage and Ireland have a new superstar in Paddy Donovan,” Hearn stated. “I truly believe that. He’s flashy, he’s skillful, he’s a good-looking fella…. He’s a champion now moving to championship fights, but everybody loved seeing that fight.”

(November 4, 2023) – Top-to-bottom, “Pandemonium at The Palladium 2,” presented by Granite Chin Promotions (GCP), has the potential to be the best overall 2023 professional boxing card held in New England, featuring competitive, entertaining fights to showcase many of the most popular and talented prizefighters in the six-state region.

All of the action will be streamed live on BXNGTV.com from the famed Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts. GCP has partnered with Project New Hope, a Worcester-based charity that supports veterans and their families.

The 10-round main event for the vacant Junior North American Boxing Federation (NABF) Welterweight Championship, pitting Denzel “Double Impact” Whitley (12-0, 7 KOs) against Kenny “Lionheart” Larson (7-0-1, 5 KOs), of Salem (MA), in a clash that could be entitled, “Unfinished Business.” Whitley vs. Larson almost happened a few times, but for one reason or another, it failed to happen until now.

Whitley, fighting out of Holyoke (MA), is the reigning Massachusetts and United States Boxing Federation (USBF) Atlantic welterweight champion, who faces the toughest test of his young career in Larson, a 2016 N.E. Golden Gloves silver medalist.

Three hometown fighters are scheduled to fight, including Worcester favorite Kendrick “Peppa” Ball, Jr. (21-1-3, 12 KOs), matched versus Heber Rondon (20-5, 13 KOs), of Venezuela, in an eight-round bout for the vacant USBF Light Heavyweight Championship.

December 2, 2023, Miami, FL – Don King Productions’ highly anticipated “People’s Championship” event delivered a spectacular night of fights at the Casino Miami Jai Alai Saturday night. The evening’s main event featured WBA Middleweight Continental USA champion Ian Green (18-2, 12 KOs) successfully defending his title against St. Louis, MO’s challenger Vaughn Alexander (18-8, 11 KOs). Establishing his jab early, the measured Green landed a devasting body shot that floored Alexander for a ten count in the eighth round.

The co-main event saw reigning WBA NABA Welterweight champion Tre’sean Wiggins (16-5-3, 9 KOs) score an emphatic first round TKO over Cincinnati, OH’s Chris Howard (18-3-1, 8 KOs). Stunning Howard within the first ten seconds of the first round, Wiggins quickly found his pace. Wiggins entered this bout on the strength of an impressive four straight victories.

NEW YORK CITY (December 3, 2023) – Celebrated Brooklyn amateur Pryce Taylor (1-0, 1 KO) had an auspicious professional debut this past Friday evening, stopping Mike Diorio in the opening round, on the undercard of a Prime Time Promotions card at Melrose Ballroom in Queens, New York.

The 6’ 4”, 265-pound Taylor was a decorated U.S. amateur boxer, highlighted by his two New York Golden Gloves Champion titles, along with four runner-up performances in USA National Championships, including one to Joshua Edwards, who just qualified to represent as a super heavyweight for Team USA in the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

Taylor dropped Diorio twice with lethal body shots, after which his corner threw in the towel at the 2:40 mark of round one.

“It was the best feeling in the world to have the whole place filled with my supporters,” Taylor said after the fight. “I was able to show off my boxing skills in front of everyone.”

Taylor’s manager, New York City-based lawyer, Keith Sullivan, already had the 27-year-old Taylor’s second pro fight scheduled in advance, December 16th against Christopher Arnold (5-3, 5 KOs) in a four-round bout on a show, promoted by Boxing Insider Promotions, at Sony Hall in New York City’s Times Square.

“A was a great debut win for Pryce,” Sullivan commented. “He widely focused on technique, not power, and was mindful of not expending too much energy by getting caught up in the moment. He really stayed focused before and during the fight. I’m very proud of how he handled himself.

“It’s important to get that first pro win out of the way. It’s a big leap from the amateurs that not many are capable of making. As an amateur, Pryce was rated as the sixth-best heavyweight in America, and in the top 10-pecent in the world. The skills and hunger are clearly there. He’s still developing, but we’ll guide his career to the top of the division in due time.”

On his recent training camp:

“Coach Marvin (Somodio) and I have been working on numerous parts of my game. For instance, we are starting to pace ourselves better. I feel I’ll be stronger going into the later rounds with all the specialized conditioning we’ve been doing. Moving up to junior lightweight will make a big difference making weight, I’ll be a lot stronger in this division. It’s been a great training camp and I can’t wait to get back in the ring.”

On his matchup with Isaac Avelar:

NEW YORK (December 2, 2023) – Split-T Management will have two fighters in action tonight.

Undefeated super bantamweight Asa Stevens will take on Dominque Griffin in Houston, while welterweight Chris Howard takes on Tre’Sean Wiggins in Miami.

Stevens of Waianae, Hawaii has a record of 5-0 with two knockouts. The 23 year-old Stevens is a two-year professional, and is coming off a decision win over D’Angelo Hopgood on August 18th in Atlanta.

Griffin of Irving, Texas is 5-5-2 with two knockouts. The 35 year-old Griffin has a win over David Alfaro (1-0) as well as a victory over Nunez (6-0). Griffin is coming off a decision loss to Romuel Cruz on September 29th in Atlantic City.

Stevens weighed 122 lbs. Griffin was 121.6 lbs.

Stevens is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions.

At Casino Miami, Howard will take on Tre’Sean Wiggins for the WBA NABA Welterweight title.

Howard of Crossville, Tennessee has a record of 18-2-1 with eight knockouts. The 34 year-old is a 16 year-professional who has defeated Anthony Smith (3-0), Byan Jargal (17-3) and Issouf Kinda (16-0). Howard has won four straight which includes a six-round unanimous decision over Roy Collins on January 13th in Nashville.

Wiggins of Newburgh, New York is 15-53 with eight knockouts. The 33 year-old Wiggins is a 13 year-pro who has had his hand raised over former world champion Jason Sosa (3-0-1), Naim Nelson (13-2), Samuel Teah (15-2-1, Cristian Dominguez (11-2), Travis Castellon (11-2-1) and a 10-round unanimous decision over Nigel Fennell (13-1) on January 21st in Miami.

Howard weighed 146.8 lbs. Wiggins weighed 145.8 lbs.

Chloe Watson says “this is just the beginning” after she won the European flyweight title in a bruising Bolton battle, live and free-to-air on Channel 5.

The pride of Birkenhead defeated France’s Justine Lallemand on points at the Toughsheet Community Stadium last night, awarded victory by the ringside judges with scores of 97-93, 97-93 and 96-94.

Watson, 23, was roared on by a raucous band of supporters at the Wasserman Boxing event as she claimed the first title of her professional career, in only her seventh professional contest.

Guided in the corner by British boxing legend Ricky Hatton, Watson got to grips with the experienced Lallemand and her relentless pressure told as she took a unanimous decision win, in front of the Channel 5 cameras.

After a fight that was delivered in association with Ladbrokes, Numan and Infinitum, Chloe Watson said: “It was a good scrap, as you can see from the bump on my head!

“This is my first title as a professional and it means so much.  I knew this fight was a step in the right direction and I know there is still loads to work on in the gym so this is just the beginning.”

Following Watson’s title triumph, super welterweight Dan Toward stepped into the ring for the first time as a professional and made a massive statement.

The 10 times national amateur champion from Newcastle, stopped Fabrizio Rubino late in the second round to announce himself in the paid ranks.

He told Channel 5 afterwards: “I am my own worst critic and always feel like I can box better but it was still a good performance and I got the finish.

“I’m back out again in Sunderland, on December 16, on the Josh Kelly undercard and I will be bringing big nights to the North East myself in the future.”

And in the other of the night’s Main Card fights, heavyweight Nathan Gorman returned after over a year out of the ring, a lost a decision to Ukraine’s Bohdan Myronets.

A scrappy affair ended with Myronets – who upset Kash Ali in July – being awarded a 77-76 victory after eight rounds.

Lee McGregor and Isaac Lowe exchanged a heated face-off in the ring tonight, as the featherweight rivals gear up for their rearranged clash.

McGregor was due to face Lowe in the headline fight in Bolton this evening, live and free-to-air on Channel 5, but injury to ‘Lightning’ forced him off the card.

Lowe enjoyed a destructive first round stoppage win on the Wasserman Boxing event and, following the victory, McGregor got up from his ringside commentary position, to square off with his rival in the ring.

The pair will meet in the New Year, with a new date to be confirmed in due course.

NEW YORK (December 1, 2023) – Split-T Management’s undefeated junior welterweight Giovanni Marquez will be back in action TONIGHT as he takes on Joshua David Rivera at the Red Owl Boxing Arena in Marquez hometown of Houston.

Marquez is 7-0 with five knockouts. The 22 year-old has impressive wins over Nelson Morales (2-0) and Nicky Vittone (9-2-1) and is coming off a second round stoppage of Donte Strayhorn on October 14th in Rosenberg, Texas.

Rivera of Le Mesa, California is 8-3 with three knockouts. The 29 year-old Rivera is coming off a loss to Larry Fryers on April 27th.

The bout is part of a DAZN streamed card that begins at 8 PM ET.

There are massive fights ahead. We went to Dublin in May and everyone left the arena (after Katie Taylor lost) with their head in their hands and then Michael got beat by Lopez the following week and it was like Irish boxing was finished.

“Now (after Taylor won and if Conlan wins) I’m looking at it, thinking: ‘We might not just come to Belfast and Dublin next year, we might go to Limerick (with Paddy Donovan) or Cork’.

“Michael sells. He’s expected to beat Jordan Gill and he’s coming off a knockout defeat but we should have 7,000 in there on Saturday which is a big old crowd. You know he sells, you know the atmosphere will be fantastic and we have a lot of guys at 130lbs that he can fight.

“If he was to make a statement he will walk straight into a massive fight. If Conlan went to the City Ground in Nottingham (for a Leigh Wood rematch) he might bring 8-9,000. If he went to Cardiff (to fight IBF champion Cordina) he’d take 5-6,000 or Joe might come here for a big outdoor show for the World Title (possibly Croke Park).

“Michael has the benefit of being able to draw crowds wherever he goes and that will walk him into a big fight but if he loses it’s over. He’s got to look good, he can’t struggle and look like a faded fighter. It’s got to be a performance where everybody goes: ‘Wow!’ Then those other fights become very easy to make.”

Michael Conlan:

“There’s an awful lot of reasons why. I know I’ll get him out of there. He lacks something. he has quit in him. And that’s it.

“I’m not going back and saying this happened in sparring, this happened in sparring. Sparring is sparring. Things happen. 

“But if you wanted to take confidence from anything, you know, I definitely can. And I’ve seen an awful lot of things throughout that time and even in his performances since that time, I’ve seen an awful lot of things where you go ‘yeah ok, I understand’. ‘I know what I got to do.’

“So, going into Saturday night you can look back to the sparring all you want and I’m sure he probably does an awful lot but I’m just focused on the job and that’s going in there and getting the win on Saturday.”

Jordan Gill:

“I feel great. There’s no pressure on me at all. That’s the way I’m looking at this. This is a massive opportunity for me to put myself where I need to be. I’m just buzzing and ready to go. I’m feeling strong and I’m feeling great. Tomorrow on the scales I’m not going to look like a skeleton like I did at 126lbs. I should have moved up maybe 3 or 4 years ago. One fight that highlighted that I have no quite in me is the Guerfi fight. Whether I have to do that again we’ll find out. It’s going to be a great fight.
