John Ryder has warned Callum Smith that he is ready to rip his WBA Super-Middleweight World title away from him and shatter his Anfield dream when they collide at the M&S Bank Arena Liverpool on Saturday, live on Sky Sports in the UK and DAZN in the US.
Despite heading into this weekend’s all-British showdown coming off the back of four big knockout wins that secured him the No 1 ranking in the WBA and earned him the interim World title, Ryder believes he is being overlooked by Liverpool’s Smith.
“I’m being overlooked but he is the World Champion and the city’s big dream of a show at Anfield,” said Ryder. “He is the front-runner but I’m coming to cause the upset and, if I beat Smith, there will be no Anfield show. They might need to find a new headliner.”
Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, the four-weight World Champion, is expected to return in May and ‘Mundo’ is hoping to be on the shortlist of his opponents. Billy Joe Saunders and Gennadiy Golovkin also count among Smith’s options if he retains his belt, but Ryder is ready to derail those plans and secure a mega-fight for himself.
“There have been a lot of highs and lows in my career so even fighting for a World title would have been a dream not so long ago. But now it’s here. In reality, without taking your eye off the ball, you do look at the carrot that’s being dangled. There are super-fights with big, massive names in America and you can’t help but to get excited.
“Winning would make be No 1 in the division and Canelo has proved that he likes to take on the top dogs, so you never know. But Smith is No 1 for a reason and I can’t take my eye off the ball with him.
“He hasn’t put a foot wrong, looked good in beating George Groves and Hassan N’Dam, but I just believe I can exploit him. I’m a different kettle of fish to what he’s faced before.”
Smith vs. Ryder tops a huge night of action in Liverpool.
Craig Glover (10-2, 8 KOs) takes on Chris Billam-Smith (9-1, 8 KOs) for the vacant Commonwealth Cruiserweight title, Anthony Fowler (10-1, 8 KOs) meets Harry Scarff (8-0, 1 KO) for the WBA International Super-Welterweight title, James Tennyson (25-3, 21 KOs) and Craig Evans (20-2-2, 3 KOs) square-off in a final eliminator for the British Lightweight title, Tom Farrell (17-2, 5 KOs) clashes with Sean Dodd (16-5-1, 3 KOs) in a must-win encounter for both men, Liverpool Light-Heavyweight talent Thomas Whittaker-Hart (3-0, 1 KO) aims to end his first year as a pro in style, former World title challenger Stephen Smith (27-4, 15 KOs) returns, Liverpool Super-Lightweight Marcus Molloy (1-0) and Skelmersdale Welterweight Tom Aitchson (1-0) both go for their second win in the pro ranks.

DILMAGHANI AIMS TO CAPTURE A WORLD TITLE IN 2020 AFTER AMAZING FIGHT WITH FONSECA IN A FIGHT OF THE YEAR CANDIDATE
London, UK (20 November 2019) New British boxing star Alex Dilmaghani can’t wait for his first fight of 2020 and is confident he will win a World title after his riveting shoot-out with Francisco Fonseca last Saturday night at the York Hall.
The home of London boxing, that has featured many of the legends and epic fight nights of British boxing, served up another classic as modern-day warriors Dilmaghani and Fonseca went to war for the fans in the iconic hall and for the viewers on Channel 5 in the UK and around the world on YouTube.
They were scheduled to meet in September in Bolton but minutes before the ring walks were due to start, Fonseca was withdrawn by the BBBofC because of sickness. Promoter Mick Hennessy envisioned a barnstormer and potential Fight of the Year candidate back then and it proved to be right with both fighters delivering on the night.
Rescheduled for London and with the Vacant IBO World Super-Featherweight title on the line, the pair went straight into battle from the opening bell, setting a frenetic pace and fought at a blistering intensity around the middle of the ring from the first bell that remained throughout the whole of the action-packed contest.
The pair exchanged a high-volume of hurtful body-punches mixed with fast, hard, combinations and it was hard to separate them early on. Crayford’s classy Dilmaghani appeared to have the quicker hands, higher work-rate, better foot movement and defence by taking the punches on his arms and gloves, but Nicaraguan hardman Fonseca seemed to have the heavier hands and harder punches and was continually pushing forward.
In the ninth round a clash of heads resulted in Dilmaghani getting a bad cut above his left eye that his corner – with cuts man Kerry Kayes – did a superb job to stop it from getting worse and see their man get through to the final bell.
When the scores were read out at the end of the contest, Pawel Kardyni and Roberto Ramirez Jr both had a draw at 114-114, while British judge Howard Foster had it 115-114 to Fonseca.
Whilst Dilmaghani was disappointed not to have been given the nod by the judges’ and not have the IBO title in his possession, he was pleased with his performance and the exciting nature of the fight and believes it will only increase his value.
“I thought I won the fight,” Said Dilmaghani. “It was a very close fight, definitely before I got the cut in the ninth round I felt that I had won everything, overall I had it 8-4 or 7-5 in my favour,”
“It was a great fight and Fonseca was really up for it and gave it everything he had, so I take off my hat to him. It was a war and I felt that I proved that I’ve got the qualities of a great fighter, I’ve got a World class chin and showed I’ve got plenty of heart where people may have doubted it, I think everyone knows that now,”
“I thought that I could’ve boxed more and that is my only regret, but as it turned out I had to ‘war’ it out with him. The fans in the York Hall and viewers on Channel 5 and YouTube certainly got treated to a great fight,”
“I didn’t think Fonseca would last at that pace set from the first bell and I wanted to stop him by grinding him down, that was the game plane, but I couldn’t see out of my left eye from the ninth because of the cut,”
“I’ve got to let my cut heal and have a rest over Christmas, but I’ll be ready to go early next year for whatever my promoter Mick Hennessy has lined up. There’s an option to go down to featherweight, which I can make easily, and campaign there and I’m planned to fight four times next year. One of those will be for a World title and I’m confident that I will become World Champion. My name has certainly increased in awareness now and I’m all set for a big year ahead. I can’t wait.”
Hennessy was thrilled with the pulsating, all-action, fight and felt that his man had done enough to win, whilst surprised with the draw, he believes that the excitement of the fight has increased the Dilmaghani brand and put him in a great position to start 2020.
Hennessy said, “That fight to me is definitely the Fight of the Year, it was one of boxing’s night of nights and an absolutely awe-inspiring contest. Whilst it was called a draw by the judges’, the winner that night was the sport of boxing and Channel 5 for hosting such an incredible fight and the fans and the viewers were treated to a real barnstormer,”
“People think I was crazy about the things I was saying before hand about Alex, but I knew what he could do and he just needed a big fight to show what I was saying and the Fonseca fight was the one to bring it out of him. Now you can see why he’s avoided like the plague by his rivals out there,”
“Looking at the fight with a balanced view, I scored it 7-5 to Alex and the cut from the head clash in the ninth affected him as it impaired his vision. I believe that Alex had the better defence and was taking the majority of punches on his arms, gloves and elbows. That’s not taking away from Fonseca who proved himself to be a real warrior. Fonseca had plenty of time to prepare for Alex, probably around four months in total, including the first postponed fight. For the fights against Gervonta Davis and Tevin Farmer, Fonseca only two weeks’ and five weeks’ notice respectively and we knew he’d come in at his absolute best for Alex. Fonseca was huge at the weight and he’s a dangerous world class fighter when given the right notice,”
“We’ll have to see what opportunities present themselves to Alex before we make a decision going into the new year. The rematch with Fonseca is there, but we were going to move down to featherweight before the Fonseca opportunity arose as he makes super-feather too easy. The plan is for him to have four fights next year and make himself a major household name on Channel 5. I think now with all the fantastic publicity around this fight in the build up and the fight turning out how it did, it’s certainly put Alex up there and he will be a force to be reckoned with.”
MANNY ROBLES III LOS ANGELES MEDIA WORKOUT QUOTES
LOS ANGELES. (Nov. 19, 2019): 126-pound contender Manny Robles III (18-0, 8 KOs) hosted a media workout at Maywood Boxing Club in Los Angeles ahead of his 12-round fight against Xu Can (17-2, 3 KOs) for the WBA Featherweight World Title in the co-main event of Cancio vs. Alvarado II. Featherweight prospect Victor Morales Jr. (12-0, 7 KOs) also participated in the workout. The event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 23 at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, Calif. and will be streamed live on DAZN.
Below is what the today’s participants had to say at the workout:
MANNY ROBLES III, NABF Featherweight Champion:
“Ever since I can remember, I have been boxing. I was a baby when I started boxing. But the first thing I can remember is being at LA Boxing, which no longer exists. The gym was full of great pros and fighters, and of course my grandfather was a trainer there as well. He was a great coach back in the day, along with my father. I remember being with both of them there.”
“Being around my grandfather and my father was a great thing. They were an excellent team. My grandfather was one of the best trainers around, and may he rest in peace. It was a great experience to be around such champions like Martin Castillo, Israel Vazquez and Reggie Johnson. They motivated me when I was little. It was something I wanted to do since I was a baby.”
“My amateur experience has a lot to do with where I am today. When I was an amateur, I was able to spar with world champions. That’s pretty crazy. I never cared about who I sparred with. My father taught me how to think, so I wasn’t scared to get in there with them. I was able to learn from the best and get experience. That helped me prepare for this moment of my career.”
“I was more technical as an amateur but being with Rudy Hernandez has taught me to sit on my punches more and use my body more. He taught me how to fight inside. My father trained me for pretty much my entire fight, but now Rudy Hernandez is my head trainer. It was a big sacrifice for my dad. It was something we decided to do. He understood that. It was a sacrifice he knew he had to do.”
“For this fight, I’m going to have to throw when he throws. He’s a high-volume puncher. I’m going to use a lot of footwork. I have to have a certain distance, too. I can’t give him the distance to let his punches go, especially because of his high output. I have to be careful with that. I’m going to have to counter and let my punches go.”
“If I win this world title, it’s going to mean a lot. Growing up in this sport, it’s crazy to be here now and fighting for a world title. It’s a dream come true. If I could, I would tell my grandfather. ‘Thank you. Thank you for giving me that experience that you had and by being the great trainer that you were.’ I would also tell my father a lot of things. We are very close. We have a great relationship. He’s done so much for me. He’s made so many sacrifices. ‘Thank you, dad, for all the sacrifices that you’ve done for me and never giving up on me. Thank you for believing me since Day 1, when I was nine years old and had my first amateur fight at Azteca Boxing Club. I love you.'”
VICTOR MORALES JR., Featherweight Prospect:
“Being promoted by Golden Boy is going to take me to the next level. I think it’d already be at a world title level if I had started my career with Golden Boy. A year or two from now, I want to have a junior title. Maybe I can already be in line for a world title in a year or two. It’s going to be a great card this Saturday. It’s a great platform and I am excited for this fight.”
Cancio vs. Alvarado II is a 12-round fight for the WBA Super Featherweight World Title presented by Golden Boy. The event is sponsored by Tecate, “THE OFFICIAL BEER OF BOXING,” and Hennessy “Never Stop. This is a sensational main event to kick off the Top Rank schedule in 2020.”
“This is personal. Bernard inspired me to be what I became,” Hart said. “I wouldn’t be right if didn’t avenge that defeat. I can’t move forward unless I beat him. This is a Philly thing. It’s more personal than business for me. I want a world title shot at light heavyweight, but I have to get through this guy first.”
“I am back in the gym and feel great,” Smith said. “I am focused and ready to bring everything I have. Jesse Hart might want to make this personal, but I didn’t even know who he was before this fight was brought up. I am ready for this. It is going to be a great night.”
“I look forward to a thrilling, fan-friendly fight in Atlantic City on ESPN Jan. 11,” said Star Boxing CEO Joe DeGuardia, Smith’s promoter. “Jesse Hart is Philly tough, but I love watching Joe Smith Jr. fight as his amazing punching power always puts him 10 seconds away from a KO win. It will be a rocking night at the Hard Rock Hotel.”
Hart (26-2, 21 KOs) is making his triumphant return to Atlantic City, where he is 7-0 with 7 knockouts. He twice challenged for the super middleweight world title previously held by Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez, but he came up short via a pair of close decision defeats. Following the second Ramirez loss in December 2018, Hart moved up to the light heavyweight ranks and announced his arrival with a 10-round decision victory over Sullivan Barrera on the Tyson Fury-Tom Schwarz undercard.
Smith (24-3, 20 KOs) was boxing’s “Cinderella Man” in 2016, upsetting Andrzej Fonfara via first-round TKO to earn the shot at Hopkins. He proved the Fonfara win was no fluke, as he bullied Hopkins around the ring before a combination knocked him through the ropes. Smith is coming off a decision loss to WBA light heavyweight world champion Dmitry Bivol, although he buzzed Bivol on several occasions in the championship rounds.

CHRIS EUBANK JR. & MATT KOROBOV TRAINING CAMP QUOTES
OFFICIAL WEIGH-IN
BROOKLYN (November 19, 2019) – Middleweight star Chris Eubank Jr. and top contender Matt Korobov shared their thoughts on their upcoming showdown for the Interim WBA Middleweight Title taking place Saturday, December 7 live on SHOWTIME from Barclays Center, the home of BROOKLYN BOXING™.
The middleweight division will take center stage on the SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING® telecast (9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT) that is headlined by undefeated WBC Middleweight World Champion Jermall Charlo defending his title against highly-ranked contender Dennis Hogan. In the opening bout of the telecast, former world champions Marlon Tapales and Ryosuke Iwasa will meet for an interim 122-pound title.
Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by Lions Only Promotions and TGB Promotions, are on-sale now and can be purchased at ticketmaster.comand barclayscenter.com. Tickets also can be purchased at the American Express Box Office at Barclays Center. Group discounts are available by calling 844-BKLYN-GP.
Eubank will make his U.S. pro debut on December 7, after establishing himself as a contender at 160 and 168 pounds while fighting in his native United Kingdom. He most recently registered a career-best win over former champion James DeGale in February on SHOWTIME in London but will now move back down to 160 pounds to seek a title at middleweight beginning with the fight against Korobov.
Korobov will return to fight at Barclays Center for the second time nearly one year after losing a close decision to Charlo as a late replacement opponent last December in Brooklyn. After fighting to a controversial draw against Immanuwel Aleem in May, Korobov will look to make a statement against Eubank to earn another shot at a world title.
Here is what Eubank and Korobov had to say about their matchup, a future fight with Jermall Charlo and more:
CHRIS EUBANK JR.
How does it feel to be making your U.S. pro debut on December 7? What are you looking to show the U.S. fans in this fight?
“It’s always been a dream of mine to fight in the U.S. Even with everything I’ve done in the sport over in the U.K, I’ve always felt there was something missing and I believe it was the urge to introduce myself and my fight style to the American audience of fight fans. Now I have my opportunity.”
Why did you make the decision to move down to middleweight for this fight? In what ways are you stronger at 160-pounds?
“I’ve never been a real super middleweight. I walk around at 170 pounds out of competition and have to eat breakfast the day of my weigh-ins to make 168. I believe at 160 I am going to be a beast now that I have become accustomed to fighting much bigger fighters over the last three years.”
What do you know about Korobov as a fighter and how do you see this fight going stylistically?
“I think Korobov will be awkward until I pin him down and when I do, I will show the audience why I am a fan friendly fighter.”
If you’re able to get past Korobov, what would you think of a fight against Jermall Charlo? What advantages do you think you have in that fight?
“When I dispatch of Korobov, Charlo is definitely the name that’s on my radar. He is seen as one of the elite fighters in the middleweight division and I intend to prove that he is not on my level. It will be satisfying stamping my mark on the division against Charlo after I beat Korobov. I think it will be a great fight for the fans as together our styles would make for a very exciting bout.”
MATT KOROBOV
Is it exciting to be back at Barclays Center as the co-main event to Charlo, because with a win, you have an opportunity to show him why you deserve the rematch?
“Yes, it is very exciting to be back at Barclays Center, only this time I will leave with the belt. I thought I deserved an immediate rematch against Charlo because many people believed I won. I think when I defeat Eubank Jr. and win this belt, it will force Charlo to give me a rematch. We shall see. I only focus on one fight at a time and right now I am only focused on Chris Eubank Jr.”
How do you stay mentally focused on the next fight when you believe you had two bad scorecards go against you?
“I do not focus on the past. I focus on the future because I can only control the future. I will be my best and my best will be good enough against Chris Eubank Jr. We’re doing everything possible in camp to make sure I’m ready.”
What do you make of Eubank as a fighter? How do you expect the fight to look stylistically?
“Eubank is a very good fighter, one of the best. I believe I am a more disciplined fighter. I think my technique is better, but he does some things very well. Let’s see on December 7. I don’t want to give away the weaknesses I see, but the style difference will make a very entertaining fight for the fans.
Do you think you have the advantage as far as boxing skills over Eubank? How do you counter his possible size advantage, given that he’s coming down from 168 pounds?
“I think my skills are better. I do not think weight will be an issue. He is professional and I am professional. If anything, perhaps it is a little more difficult for him to make 160 after years at 168. I will fight anyone between 160 and 168 pounds, so I don’t see any problem with weight for me, perhaps more for him. We will find out December 7.”

On his recent training camp:
“I had another great training camp going into this fight. I spent some time in Houston and San Antonio getting good sparring with some of the top guys in those areas. I’m in great shape and my body is healthy.”
On his upcoming fight with Kevin Shacks:
“I don’t know much about Shacks except that he has a lot of power. All his wins have come by knockout, so I know he’s dangerous. I’m still going to go in there and dictate the pace with my game plan. My goal is to knock him out.”
On fighting in Las Vegas on FS2:
“This is a dream come true for me and my dad. We’ve always talked about fighting in Las Vegas under the big lights. To top it off I’ll be fighting on FS2 in front of a large televised audience. All my people back home are having parties showing my fight, so this is a big blessing for my career. I’m truly grateful.”
On the state of the super lightweight division:
“The 140 pound division is loaded with talent and I think it’s one of toughest in boxing. Mario Barrios is a beast, Josh Taylor just showed the world what he’s about by beating Regis Prograis, and Jose Ramirez is no joke. The entire division is stacked and one day I’ll be right up there with all those guys.”

SCARFF: IF I BOX MY BEST I WIN THIS FIGHT
Harry Scarff is motivated by the massive opportunities that may await him if he can get the better of Anthony Fowler when the pair collide for the WBA International Super-Welterweight title at the M&S Bank Arena Liverpool on Saturday, live on Sky Sports in the UK and DAZN in the US.
Scarff (8-0, 1 KO), has notched eight straight wins in the professional ranks since turning over in 2017, most recently travelling to Bolton to claim the English Super-Welterweight title on away territory with a shutout points victory against then unbeaten Champion Jack Flatley.
The 26-year-old is aware of the threat that ‘The Machine’ poses, but believes he has the credentials to come away with the victory in his first arena fight and derail Fowler’s plans of securing a huge domestic rematch with Preston’s Scott Fitzgerald in 2020.
“He’s been number one from when we were amateurs and I have always wanted to test myself against the best, we will see how good he is on Saturday,” said Scarff. “I was looking for a title opportunity and then a shot at the English popped up, I was fully confident of winning that fight as I am for this one against Anthony Fowler, I’m happy to be the underdog.
‘Horrible Harry’, who trains out out of the One Nation Boxing Gym in his hometown of Derby, returned to camp just a week after his last fight and insists that his preparation couldn’t have gone any better ahead of this breakthrough opportunity.
“Massive doors will open if I win this fight and that’s why we’re so up for it. He’s been beaten before, I’m flying in the gym and my preparation has been perfect for this fight – I’m ready to go! Sparring with the likes of Billy Joe Saunders and Kell Brook has been a great experience and I feel like I gave a good account of myself.
“There’s more to come from me and I’m looking forward to showing that in this fight. We know what he does, he’s strong and tough and he brings it. It’s going to be a tear up but we have a few tricks up our sleeve with this game-plan – if I box my best I win this fight.”
Fowler vs. Scarff is part of a huge night of action in Liverpool.
Main event sees Liverpool’s Callum Smith (26-0, 19 KOs) defend his WBA World, WBC Diamond and Ring Magazine Super-Middleweight titles against John Ryder (28-4, 16 KOs), Craig Glover (10-2, 8 KOs) takes on Chris Billam-Smith (9-1, 8 KOs) for the vacant Commonwealth Cruiserweight title, James Tennyson (25-3, 21 KOs) and Craig Evans (20-2-2, 3 KOs) square-off in a final eliminator for the British Lightweight title, Tom Farrell (17-2, 5 KOs) clashes with Sean Dodd (16-5-1, 3 KOs) in a must-win encounter for both men Liverpool Light-Heavyweight talent Thomas Whittaker-Hart (3-0, 1 KO) aims to end his first year as a pro in style and Liverpool Super-Lightweight Marcus Molloy (1-0) and Skelmersdale Welterweight Tom Aitchson (1-0) both go for their second win in the pro ranks.

STAR BOXING’S NEWEST SIGNING, WILLIAM SILVA TO FIGHT ON ESPN NOV 30
New York, November 18, 2019
Star Boxing is pleased to announce the signing of WILLIAM “BABY FACE” SILVA (27-2 15KO’s), who will be closing out 2019 with a bang when he faces undefeated California-born, ARNOLD BARBOZA JR (22-0 9KO’s) at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas on November 30, to be featured on ESPN.
Hailing from Sao Paulo, Brazil, Silva has had an impressive amateur and professional career. Over his 29 professional bouts, the super lightweight has held titles such as the IBO Intercontinental Lightweight Championship, WBO Latino Welterweight and Lightweight Championship, NBA Lightweight Championship and is the current ABF Continental Americas Champion.
Silva began his boxing career well before his professional debut in 2006. At the age of 7, Silva’s father brought him to a local boxing gym and he never looked back. “My father was a boxer” said Silva, “he fought, as did my brothers.” Silva’s brother, Michele Silva is a professional boxer, fighting out of Brazil. As an amateur, Silva represented his home country as a member of the Brazil Olympic training team. He boasted a stellar amateur record of 135-5.
Campaigning most of his career at lightweight, Silva has had great success since moving from his native Brazil, making Florida his home away from home. Fighting prospects such as Felix Verdejo and Teofimo Lopez, Silva never hides from a challenge. In his last two bouts, Silva steamrolled Joe Forero, dominating the entire fight, ending with a 9th round TKO earning the ABF Continental America’s Title. In February it was more of the same for Silva, as he dominated a 10-round unanimous decision over the tough Juan Ramon Solis (then 25-13 9KO’s). (100-90 (x2), 98-91)
William Silva said this about signing with Star Boxing, “I am extremely excited and grateful to sign a contract with Star Boxing and feel really motivated to show the world that I belong in World Championship fights. I live and train in Plant City Florida, with a great coach Jose Rodriguez, my manager Jody Caliguire, and our entire team is awesome. I am ready to get back to the top of the rankings. I know I can beat anyone in the world.”
Silva is preparing to return to the ring in a thriller against top rated undefeated Barboza in an ESPN bout from the majestic Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas on November 30. Having last fought in February of 2019, Silva is chomping at the bit to get back into the ring.
Manager JODY CALIGUIRE had this to say about Silva signing with Star Boxing, “Team Silva is very happy to have signed promotional contract with Star Boxing. We look forward to competing on great events and having the opportunity to compete soon for a world title. At 27-2, with 15 KO’S, Silva is a proven excellent boxer. We want a world title shot in the near future. Silva, now lives and trains in Florida, and we have the team in place to insure each time he walks in the ring he will be ready to win and convincingly. This man is a true professional and great boxer. Thank you to Joe DeGuardia for allowing us to be part of your great team.”
CEO JOE DEGUARDIA said this about signing Silva, “Silva is a very talented fighter who we are very excited to work with. We believe that with the team we have in place, the sky is the limit for Silva, and we are looking forward to closing out 2019 with a great fight in Las Vegas on ESPN!”
RICHARD MEDINA AND HECTOR CORONADO REMAIN UNDEFEATED WITH FIRST ROUND KO’S
SAN ANTONIO, TX (November 18, 2019) – Prince Ranch Boxing’s undefeated blue-chip prospects picked up big wins over the weekend as featherweight Richard Medina (5-0, 4 KO), and welterweight Hector Coronado (3-0, 2 KOs), both saw their hands raised on Saturday, November 16, 2019, at the San Antonio Event Center.
The 19-year old Medina, who is a native of San Antonio, TX, picked up a first-round knockout over Guadalupe Perez (2-23) of Garland, TX, in a scheduled six-round bout.
“This was the type of performance I was looking for and I feel I made at statement” said Medina. “My promoter TMB & PRB Entertainment have been keeping me busy. Rick Morones and Alex Draghici are doing a fantastic job getting me fights. I appreciate everyone on my team for all their hard work, including my manager Greg Hannley of Prince Ranch Boxing. I feel unstoppable.”
Coronado, who resides in Del Rio, TX, scored a first round knockout as well.
“I am continuing to improve and I’m getting better with each fight,” said Coronado “I’m staying busy which is very important for my development. I got the KO and I’m looking forward to my next fight. I want to thank my team for constantly putting me in such good positions in my professional boxing career.”
“Both Medina and Coronado have the talent to get big opportunities in the future” said Greg Hannely, president of Prince Ranch Boxing, who manages both fighters. “They have everything you look for in prospects, good work ethic, solid fundamentals as well as respectful.”
“Both fighters have worked very hard and have been putting on entertaining performances” said Rick Morones, of TMB & PRB Entertainment. “Medina and Coronado are exciting fighters who are developing a following in the area and it will only continue to grow with performances like these.”
“With each show we promote the crowds are getting bigger and bigger,” said Alex Draghici, of TMB & PRB Entertainment. “Both fighters leave everything in the ring, and the fans can tell. I can’t say how grateful we are of their performances.”
Muhsin Cason Remains Undefeated with Dominating Unanimous Decision
LAS VEGAS, NV (November 18, 2019) – Prince Ranch Boxing’s rising prospect, Muhsin “Silent Killer” Cason (6-0, 3 KOs), made his return to cruiserweight, picking up an impressive win over the weekend at the La Fontaine Bleue, in Maryland. Cason cruised to an easy victory defeating Montez Brown (8-2, 4 KOs) by way of a six-round unanimous decision. Cason dropped Montez twice as the scorecards read 59-53, 58-54 and 59-53.
“I felt great in this fight,” said Cason. “My team is preparing me perfectly and I was able to showcase my skills against a tough opponent. I got the decision and I’m ready to get back in the gym.”
This was Cason’s return to the cruiserweight division despite fighting in his last bout at heavyweight and getting a first-round knockout. The powerful puncher moved to his optimum weight class and will now be campaigning at Cruiserweight.
“We made the decision to keep Cason at cruiserweight since that is the weight in which at the present moment, he is the biggest threat,” said Greg Hannely, CEO of Prince Ranch Boxing. “Cason can contend in the heavyweight division, but at cruiserweight, it will be hard to find anyone who has his skill set and abilities to beat him.”
“We want to make sure he in the right position and feels ready before we start going after the big opportunities,” said former two-time heavyweight champion, Hasim Rahman, who is Cason’s brother and advisor. “He has all the skills and pedigree to be a world champion.”
MATCHROOM PARTNER WITH BOXPARK TO STAGE OFFICIAL RUIZ VS. JOSHUA 2 SCREENINGS
Matchroom Boxing are delighted to have partnered with Boxpark to stage two official screening events for the colossal Heavyweight World title rematch between Mexico’s Andy Ruiz Jr and Britain’s Anthony Joshua taking place on Saturday December 7.
Ruiz stunned Joshua to capture his IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO crowns in one of the biggest Heavyweight upsets of all time at a sold-out Madison Square Garden in New York on June 1. Joshua attempts to regain his World titles next month and become a two-time Heavyweight ruler after tasting defeat for the first time in his professional career on his US debut in The Big Apple.
For fans who can’t make it out to Saudi Arabia for the ‘Clash on the Dunes’, what better way to enjoy the most anticipated Heavyweight rematch in decades than with family, friends and a great atmosphere. Supported by JD Sports and StubHub – Matchroom will be staging the unmissable events at Boxpark Croydon and Boxpark Wembley.
Fight fans in attendance can expect live music, plenty of great food and drinks, as well as the chance to get hold of the official event programme. With Sky Sports in attendance and covering each screening as part of their live broadcast, these knockout events will offer the electric atmospheres we’ve come to expect from Anthony Joshua fight nights!
Eddie Hearn, Managing Director of Matchroom Boxing, said: “Of course, not everybody can get out to Saudi Arabia for the fight – so we wanted to create something for the fans which would be an exciting alternative. We’ve seen before the popular fan parks which come with big football tournaments and matches, and we felt that this fight is on the same level and deserved something special as ‘AJ’ bids to become a two-time World Champion and win his titles back!”
Tickets start at just £10 and will be on sale at 2.00pm on Tuesday November 19 via StubHub (www.stubhub.co.uk).
BILLAM-SMITH VOWS TO SILENCE M&S BANK ARENA LIVERPOOL
Chris Billam-Smith has vowed to silence the crowd at the M&S Bank Arena Liverpool on Saturday when he clashes with local prospect Craig Glover for the vacant Commonwealth Cruiserweight crown, live on Sky Sports in the UK and DAZN in the US.
‘The Gentleman’ found himself on the wrong end of a split decision against big-hitting Londoner Richard Riakporhe in a close battle for the WBA Inter-Continental title at The O2 last time out in July and will be aiming to bounce back with a win against his former sparring partner, Glover.
Undeterred by his first professional loss, Billam-Smith (9-1, 8 KOs) hopes that a win over the Tony Bellew-managed Scouser will lead to a future rematch with Riakporhe, who meets Jack Massey for the vacant British title at York Hall on December 19.
“I’m going straight back into a big domestic fight and that’s exactly what I wanted,” said Billam-Smith. “It can’t be a bad fight. We both like to let our hands go, we both like to get stoppages, throw big shots, there’s not any running from either of us. He’s not going to be holding and stuff like Riakporhe was. It will be a very physical fight but a lot less grappling and a lot more big shots going in.
“Last time at The O2 was a great experience, it was a good fight, one we thought that we won. We felt comfortable when the final bell went. That’s obviously a rematch that I’d like in the future. He’s going for the British title next month so maybe we can get it on for that in the new year. First up it’s Craig and he has my full attention and respect.
“We’ve sparred before and Craig is a great lad but this is business and it can only be a cracking fight, I’m certain of that. We only sparred the once and it was only six rounds but it was a close spar, it was a good spar and a good one to watch. It was competitive the whole time and we both came out of it thinking that we would box each other for a title and here we are.”
Glover has experienced mixed fortunes since turning over to the professional ranks in May 2016 on the Bellew vs. Makabu World title blockbuster at Goodison Park. He lost in just his third pro outing before being dropped and stopped by Vaclav Pejsar in Liverpool earlier this year.
Despite this, the 28-year-old is remains highly-rated by many in the fight game, including former WBC Cruiserweight king Bellew. Billam-Smith is familiar with fighting on Merseyside and believes he has what it takes to silence Glover’s fans once more.
“I boxed at the M&S Bank Arena as an amateur in the ABA’s so I’m familiar with the place and the city as well. I love it up there, I love Liverpool as a city. The fans are very passionate people. Craig is a good lad and most scousers are. They’re all very nice people but unfortunately I’m going to have to silence them on the night.
“It’s going to be a bit more of a partisan crowd this time being in Liverpool but I’ll be bringing a few up from Bouremouth and London. My brother was actually there when Craig got stopped and he said it was very noisy up until the stoppage. That’s obviously the plan for me, to silence the crowd. It’s a cracking fight and we’re both exciting to watch with come-forward styles. I believe that it will be an absolute barnburner while it lasts.”

PARAMOUNT NOVEMBER 23 “ROCKIN’ FIGHTS” 37 FULL CARD IS THRILLER
New York, November 18, 2019
Star Boxing has a thrilling card in place for its 37th edition of “Rockin’ Fights” at The Paramount, set to take place on Saturday, November 23. The main event is a much-anticipated grudge rematch as the WBC FECARBOX and ABO Intercontinental champion, DANNY “EL GALLO” GONZALEZ (18-2-1 7KO’s) puts his titles on the line against Huntington’s hometown hero, JOHNNY “HITMAN” HERNANDEZ (10-4 1KO). The exciting main event is supported by a stellar international co-feature and a fantastic undercard.
The 10-round co-feature bout spotlights two international rising cruiserweights, Italian, SIMONE “TYSON” FEDERICI (15-2-1 7KO’S) against Albanian, STIVENS “SUPERMAN” BUJAJ (17-2-1 11KO’s) for the WBC Continental America’s Title. Federici, a former Italian National champion and IBF Mediterranean cruiserweight champion will be making his second appearance at The Paramount. Bujaj, who is no stranger to title fights, is a former WBC USNBC and USA New York State Cruiserweight champion. The winner will see a large increase in their cruiserweight world rankings as both fighters know a win will catapult them into a big fight in 2020.
The undercard features six undefeated fighters, in what is bound to kick off the show with flair. In a battle of the undefeated, 2013 New York Golden Gloves Champion and now undefeated professional, ALEX “EL TORO” VARGAS (4-0 1KO)will take on Title Boxing National Champion, and undefeated professional, DASHAUN “TOOSWEET” JOHNS (2-0 1KO). Both Vargas and Johns have fought all of their professional bouts at The Paramount. This special attraction is a scheduled 6-round welterweight bout.
JUSTICE “LIL NASTY” BLAND (Brooklyn, NY 1-0) makes his return to The Paramount on November 23, when he takes on DASWSHAQUAN “THE DRAGON” THOMAS (Mt. Vernon, NY) who will be making his pro-debut. Bland earned his first professional victory at “Rockin’ Fights” 35 in July with a unanimous decision victory over Rafael Castillo. Opening the night will be Red Bank, NJ native, SALEEM “BAD DREAM” KELLY (2-0 1KO). A New Jersey amateur standout, Kelly has won the New Jersey state title, New Jersey Golden and Diamond Gloves and was ranked as high as 4th in the country. Kelly will be facing GEORGE GETHERS (Jersey City, NY 0-1) in a 4 round super welterweight bout.
Also on the undercard is JAHVEL JOSEPH (New York, NY 1-0) who faces off with CURL “KING CURL” AITCHESON (Mt. Vernon, NY, pro debut) in a 4 round super middleweight bout.

We are pleased to add an international flair to “Rockin’ Fights” with Simone Federici and Stivens Bujaj fighting for the WBC Continental America’s title. Alex Vargas always brings a great crowd and will be in a real tough matchup with fellow, undefeated New York fighter, Dashaun Johns, who is also a fan favorite and ticket-seller. Overall, I foresee this as being a great card that you will not want to miss.”

FARRELL – FRIENDSHIP GOES OUT THE WINDOW ONCE THE BELL RINGS
Tom Farrell insists that there will be no room for niceties when he steps in the ring with promotional stablemate and close friend Sean Dodd in a domestic Super-Lightweight battle at the M&S Bank Arena Liverpool on Saturday November 23, live on Sky Sports in the UK and DAZN in the US.
Farrell (17-2, 5 KOs) is looking to land another title shot after he was outpointed by Philip Bowes in a clash for the Commonwealth crown at the M&S Bank Arena back in March and believes that a win over former Commonwealth Lightweight ruler Dodd will fire him into contention in 2020.
“I think Masher was the last person that I had on my mind when I heard that I was going to be earmarked for this show,” said Farrell. “I had my eye on a decent fight to get the ball rolling and get me back in contention for 2020 but Masher didn’t really come into my mind. We’re good mates and there hasn’t been any animosity between us in the build-up but once the bell rings on Saturday our friendship goes out of the window.
“It’s a fight that we both had to take really. I had a disappointing loss last time I fought at the arena and I think this could be Masher’s last chance. You could described it as a must-win fight for the both of us. This is a fight that could steal the show, I’ve said that from the start. He’s always in good fights and so am I. It has all of the ingredients for a cracker.”
Turning pro in September 2014, ‘Fazza’s’ sole title win came against Farid Hakimi in 2016 when he outpointed the Belgian over ten rounds to earn to WBA International title. He then lost his next title opportunity against controversial Hackney man Ohara Davies the following year before his loss to Bowes earlier this year.
The popular Liverpudlian hits the big 30 on Saturday and will be hoping to celebrate the milestone in style with a career-best win against Dodd that would set him up for a more fruitful 2020.
“We know each other very well. I think I’ll have enough experience and enough quality on the night to come out and springboard myself back into contention and get my career back on a good path. The last 12 months have been a bit difficult for me and my career has stalled a little bit so this is a big chance for me to push on and get a title.
“We’ll definitely be putting on a good show for the fans. I think there will be loads of us there. I always have a good crowd behind me and the Birkenhead faithful are always there for Masher. I’m one of the most liked lads in Liverpool fighting against one of the most liked lads in the UK in Masher Dodd. It’s a huge deal up here and I’m confident it won’t disappoint.”
Farrell vs. Dodd is part of a huge night of action in Liverpool.
Main event sees Liverpool’s Callum Smith (26-0, 19 KOs) defend his WBA World, WBC Diamond and Ring Magazine Super-Middleweight titles against John Ryder (28-4, 16 KOs), Craig Glover (10-2, 8 KOs) takes on Chris Billam-Smith (9-1, 8 KOs) for the vacant Commonwealth Cruiserweight title, Anthony Fowler (10-1, 8 KOs) meets Harry Scarff (8-0, 1 KO) for the WBA International Super-Welterweight title, James Tennyson (25-3, 21 KOs) and Craig Evans (20-2-2, 3 KOs) square-off in a final eliminator for the British Lightweight title, Liverpool Light-Heavyweight talent Thomas Whittaker-Hart (3-0, 1 KO) aims to end his first year as a pro in style and Liverpool Super-Lightweight Marcus Molloy (1-0) and Skelmersdale Welterweight Tom Aitchson (1-0) both go for their second win in the pro ranks.
PARKER: I’LL DO A LOMACHENKO!
CONNOR PARKER JOKED that he might attempt to carry out an impression of Vasyl Lomachenko when he steps in the ring with Sam Maxwell at Arena, Birmingham on November 30, with Maxwell’s WBO European super lightweight title at stake.
Maxwell, famously, twice fought the great Ukrainian during his amateur days representing Team GB and gave a good account of himself, but ultimately failed to defeat the now pound-for-pound great.
The 24-year-old Parker from Derbyshire and the 31-year-old Scouser share an identical professional record of 12-0, but the East Midlands man accepts it is advantage Maxwell in terms of amateur experience, KOs recorded and being tested over ten rounds as Maxwell was by Sabri Sediri in a helter-skelter battle in March.
For Parker this is opportunity knocking in the Second City and he was happy to place his original fight plans on hold when he got wind of a title tilt.
“I was sat at home when I found out,” said the southpaw. “My dad told me about it then I had to hang on and wait for confirmation. I was so hoping I would get this shot, I had another fight scheduled for a couple of days after, but now I can’t wait for this one.
“It is a massive opportunity and I think I am ready for fights like this. Our records are similar and the only difference is Sam has got more knockouts than me. Record-wise that is the only thing and he has had a tough fight over ten rounds.
“The footage of his fights is all there to see right from his amateur days. He has been around for years, hasn’t he, and there is plenty to pick up on what he does. I might look at the Lomachenko tapes and do an impression of him!”
Parker has just a single stoppage on his ledger but he insists this is a misleading statistic that is down to the limited ambition of the opponents put in front of him. He is happy to back himself in the trading of bombs.
“I’ve boxed my fair share of journeymen and then won a Midlands title in my eighth fight. I beat Kevin Hooper for the Midlands and it was a good win that was because he has been English champion. Since then I have just been keeping busy.
“I’ve won the Midlands and I’ve got to prove myself against better opponents now. Hooper was the first one to really hit me back and I enjoyed it more because he was not just there to survive and, if anything, I felt more comfortable in there. I liked it.
“This show is as much as I could have asked for because, at the minute, not many people know who I am, but after this fight they will know and I can’t wait. If I win this fight it will just get bigger and bigger,” added Parker, who does not underestimate the magnitude of the task in front of him.
“I think Sam is a good, technical boxer with a strong back hand. You can tell he is schooled well. I sort of take something from the way Sabri Sediri got to him but it could have just been and off-night and we need to prepare for the best Sam possible and that is what we will be doing.
“True, he got put down two or three times and you do take confidence from it, but I am preparing for a hard fight. My record doesn’t suggest it, but I can punch.”
Sam Maxwell defending his WBO European super lightweight title against the also unbeaten Connor Parker from Derbyshire features on a stacked night of title action at Arena, Birmingham on November 30. WBO world bantamweight champion Zolani Tete defends his title against mandatory challenger John Riel Casimero and British and Commonwealth welterweight champion Chris Jenkins makes a defence against Liam Taylor. Lerrone Richards also takes on Lennox Clarke for the Commonwealth and vacant British super middleweight belt, while East Midlands favourite Sam Bowen makes a second defence of his British super featherweight title against mandatory challenger Anthony Cacace.
Hamzah Sheeraz will fight for his first major title at super welterweight, with thrilling prospects Dennis McCann, Shabaz Masoud, Eithan James and George Davey also featuring on the bill, along with talents from the local region in Nathan Heaney and River Wilson-Bent. Tickets are available now from £40 via TheTicketFactory and Ticketmaster
THANDERZ WINS WORLD TITLE AFTER BLOODY BATTLE WITH RAMOS
Katharina Thanderz (13-0, 2 KOs) becomes Norway’s latest World Champion following a bloody battle with Danila Ramos (8-2, 1 KO) last night in Oslo to claim the WBC Interim Female World Super Featherweight title.
In a fast paced and exciting affair, Thanderz had to withstand some early pressure from the Brazilian Ramos, who started strongly, but was able to find her rhythm and land the more decisive shots as the fight progressed
In a dramatic final round, blood poured down Thanderz’s face following a clash of heads, which saw Ramos deducted a point by the referee, and after the final bell she was awarded a deserved split decision win (97-93, 96-93 and 93-95).
Thanderz follows in the footsteps of current Unified Welterweight Champion Cecilia Brækhus and former WBO Cruiserweight World Champion Magne Havnaa as Norway’s only ever World Champions.
“I am very happy to get the victory,” said Thanderz. “It was a war from the start to the finish. I couldn’t really see anything in the last round but I knew I had to give it my all. To win a World title feels completely indescribable!”
“Norway has a new World Champion and a new boxing superstar,” said promoter Nisse Sauerland. “Katharina took her chance and won her first World title, but it doesn’t stop here. There are a lot of big fights coming for her!”
Kai Robin Havnaa (16-0, 13 KOs), the son of former WBO World Champion Magne Havnaa, had to overcome a tough test to retain his undefeated record with a win over Mariano Angel Gudino (13-4, 8 KOs). The Argentinian threw everything at Havnaa, but was unable to derail the fast rising Norwegian star, who won via split decision in a valuable learning fight.
“It’s been a hell of a week after the last minute change of opponent,” said Havnaa, who was originally scheduled to face American Al Sands. “But that’s not an excuse because these things can happen in boxing. I learned a lot from this fight. Gudino was a tough opponent and it feels great to get the win!”
“Kai wanted a real test, and he got it,” said Sauerland. “Not many fighters would have accepted such a hard fight on short notice. He showed a lot of heart and courage in there tonight. I don’t believe it was his best performance but he got the win and we move forward. There is still a lot more to come from Kai.”
An action packed undercard at Oslo’s historic Ekeberghallen saw cruiserweight Kevin Melhus (7-0, 3 KOs) continue his unbeaten run with a unanimous points win over Ossie Jervier (6-11, 5 KOs), Alexander Hagen (14-2-1, 6 KOs) outpoint Emmanuel Feuzeu (10-11-2, 4 KOs), Bernard Torres (10-0, 4 KOs) break double figures with his tenth pro win coming by unanimous decision against Christian Flores Lopez (11-6-2, 9 KOs) and Kent Erik Baadstad (6-1, 4 KOs) score a second-round TKO win over Istvan Kun (7-15-2, 4 KOs).
Cano stops Ortiz in 2
Pablo Cesar Cano shook off a 1st round knockdown to comeback and stop Roberto Ortiz in round two of a scheduled 10-round super lightweight bout at The Plaza De Toros on Guanajuato, Mexico
In round one, Ortiz dropped Cano down with a hard right. In round two, Cano back and landed a left to the jaw on the ropes that sent Ortiz down for the 10-count.
Cano, 139.6 lbs of Tlalnepantla, MEX is 33-7-1 with 23 knockouts. Ortiz, 142 lbs of Torreon, MEX is 35-5-2.
“I want to thank Golden Boy, my training team and all of the people here,” said Pablo Cesar Cano. “I’m happy that I was able to demonstrate my skills tonight. I trained very well. Ortiz was a great opponent. We were aware of how strong he was and how much power he had in his shots. He caught me early, but because of my conditioning I was able to recover well and go for the knockout.”
“I came very well prepared,” said Roberto Ortiz. “I prepared knowing full well that Cano is very strong. I have known him for a long time, and I know how powerful he is. I was able to connect on him early in the fight, but his strong will allowed him to come back and stop me.”
Ricardo Sandoval stopped Gilberto Gonzalez in round five of a scheduled 10-round flyweight bout.
In round five, Sandoval landed a left that put Gonzalez down. Moments later, Sandoval landed a hard straight right that sent Gonzalez down again/ Gonzalez got to his feet, but the fight was stopped.
Sandoval, 111.8 lbs of Sinaloa de Leyva. MEX is 17-1 with 12 knockouts. Gonzalez, 111.6 lbs of Caraces, MEX is 15-3-1.

RYDER – SIZE DIFFERENCE WILL PLAY INTO MY HANDS
John Ryder is hoping to prove that size isn’t everything when he challenges Liverpool’s giant Super-Middleweight king Callum Smith for his WBA World, WBC Diamond and Ring Magazine titles at the M&S Bank Arena on Saturday November 23, live on Sky Sports in the UK and DAZN in the US.
Smith towered over Ryder at their launch press conference ‘face-to-face’ photographs back in September and will be the much bigger man on the night, but ‘The Gorilla’ isn’t fazed by the significant size difference in the slightest and even thinks he will be able to use it to his advantage as he bids to lay waste to Smith’s ambitious plans for 2020.
“I just think that it’s a fight of two styles isn’t it,” said Ryder. “It’s like the little and large show. You’ve got me, 5′ 9″ and you’ve got him, 6′ 3”. He’s going to try and do what he does best and I’m going to try and do what I do best and get in close. It’s just about who can get their game plan off better on the night.
“He’s an absolute unit. He’s a massive man mountain and he’s barely put a foot wrong. He’s had such a good career so far, but I believe that I can derail that. He’s beat good fighters but I believe now is my time and timing is everything in boxing.
“I’m going to bring something that he’s probably seen in the amateurs but as a pro I don’t think he’s had the pleasure of. I’m a slick southpaw and I can punch hard with both hands. Height is his advantage but I believe that being shorter is sometimes an advantage as well, getting under the shots and working the body and over to the head, so I believe that will play into my hands as well.”
Ryder (28-4, 16 KOs) earned the number-one ranking with the WBA with a seventh round technical knockout win against previously undefeated Russian Andrey Sirotkin in their final eliminator clash at the Copper Box Arena in London last October.
He then continued his red-hot form by stopping Bilal Akkawy to win the vacant interim WBA Super-Middleweight title last time out on the undercard of Saul Alvarez-Daniel Jacobs at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, and in doing so kept himself in line for an all-British showdown for Smith’s crown.
“He’s the champion and he deserves to be the champion, he’s beaten a champion and a good fighter to win it and I’ve earned this shot. Many people said that I was trying to avoid him and I was looking for an easier route – no chance. I fought an eliminator for this title, I even fought in another eliminator in Vegas to get this title. I’ve earned this shot now and I deserve to be here.
“I feel like I’ve developed all round as a man and a boxer. I just feel so physically and mentally strong. I feel like I’ve become a man over the last couple of years and I’m in the best position that I could possibly be in. Winning a World title would be 19 years of hard work, grit, smiles, tears and heartache all coming together on one big night and a dream come true.”
Smith vs. Ryder tops a huge night of action in Liverpool.
Craig Glover (10-2, 8 KOs) takes on Chris Billam-Smith (9-1, 8 KOs) for the vacant Commonwealth Cruiserweight title, Anthony Fowler (10-1, 8 KOs) meets Harry Scarff (8-0, 1 KO) for the WBA International Super-Welterweight title, James Tennyson (25-3, 21 KOs) and Craig Evans (20-2-2, 3 KOs) square-off in a final eliminator for the British Lightweight title, Tom Farrell (17-2, 5 KOs) clashes with Sean Dodd (16-5-1, 3 KOs) in a must-win encounter for both men, Liverpool Light-Heavyweight talent Thomas Whittaker-Hart (3-0, 1 KO) aims to end his first year as a pro in style and Liverpool Super-Lightweight Marcus Molloy (1-0) and Skelmersdale Welterweight Tom Aitchson (1-0) both go for their second win in the pro ranks.
LUIS ORTIZ TRAINING CAMP QUOTES
LAS VEGAS (November 15, 2019) – Cuban heavyweight slugger Luis “King Kong” Ortiz shared his final thoughts from training camp before he steps in to rematch WBC Heavyweight Champion Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder Saturday, November 23 in the FOX Sports PBC Pay-Per-View main event from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Tickets for the event, which is promoted by BombZquad Promotions, TGB Promotions and Mayweather Promotions, are on sale now and can be purchased at www.mgmgrand.com or www.axs.com.
Here is what Ortiz had to say from training camp in Las Vegas with his head coach Herman Caicedo and strength and conditioning coach Larry Wade:
On his training camp:
“I feel really good going into this fight. All the hard work is finally coming to an end and now it’s time to get the proper rest to be at my best on fight night. As a team we worked smart during this training camp. We did things a little different with my diet and I believe that will make me perform at a high level on fight night. My weight is right where I want it. All in all, it’s been a very productive training camp.”
On his rematch with Deontay Wilder:
“As I’ve said before, Wilder is the best heavyweight of this decade and until someone beats him, he will remain the top dog. We have a different strategy in place that I believe will be the difference in this rematch. I have plans to end this fight before the final bell, but if we need to go the distance, I’m well prepared to take it all the way.”
On fighting for his family and his Cuban legacy:
“I have to say it’s been really hard being away from my family during training camp, but I know coming out to Las Vegas was the right move. If I’m going to become the heavyweight champion of the world, I must make these types of sacrifices. Everything I do in the ring is for my family. To become the first Cuban heavyweight champion in boxing history would be a dream come true, not only for me, but for my countrymen back home. I’m going to leave every ounce of blood, sweat and tears in the ring come November 23.”
On fighting on FOX Sports PBC Pay-Per-View:
“This is a big opportunity to show the world that I’m the best heavyweight on planet earth. All the fans watching are going to see one of the best heavyweight fights in boxing history. Wilder is coming to fight just like me, which makes for a very entertaining night of boxing. The fans are going to be the winners in this fight.”
