The fight will be part of the Tyson Fury – Tom Schwarz undercard.

Kilic of Frankfort, Germany, who now calls Los Angeles, California home, has a record of 13-0 with eight knockouts.

In his last bout, Kilic stopped Zacariah Kelly in two rounds on February 15th in Hinckley, Minnesota.

HEAVY DUTY PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES

HALL OF FAME promoter Frank Warren held a press conference in London today ahead of his blockbuster ‘Heavy Duty’ card at The O2, London on Saturday July 13.

Heading the big night of action live on BT Sport is the vacant British heavyweight title fight between two of the world’s top prospects Daniel Dubois (11-0, 10KO) and Nathan Gorman (16-0, 11KO)

In the chief support Joe Joyce (9-0, 9KO) will defend his WBA Gold heavyweight championship against former world title challenger Bryant Jennings (24-3, 14KO)

Here are a selection of quotes from today’s press conference:

FRANK WARREN

“We have two real notable, good quality heavyweight fights

“These fights are going to be fireworks. These are big guys, big punchers and we saw at the weekend in Anthony Joshua v Andy Ruiz when heavyweights let bombs go anything can happen.

“One big punch can change your career, change your life. Go and ask Andy Ruiz.

“The heavyweight landscape hasn’t changed at all after Ruiz’s win. The number one heavyweight in my opinion is Tyson Fury. He beat Deontay Wilder, but they gave a draw.

“Andy Ruiz is game and has got fast hands, but has he the beating of Tyson Fury? I don’t think he has and I’m not sure he has the beating of Wilder.

“The winners of these two fights has the opportunity to become a world champion and will be in the top five.

“Would I be worried put these guys in with Dillian Whyte? I would make the fights in a heartbeat.

“This is Joe’s tenth fight and although he had great amateur experience, this is a big, big test against Bryant who isn’t here to sit down.

“Daniel v Nathan is a pick ‘em and it doesn’t get any better than this fight. They want to go to the next level and one is in the way of the other.

“How many fighters take these risks at this stage of their careers?”

DANIEL DUBOIS

“Whatever he (Gorman) has to say or thinks happened in the past when we sparred has no bearing on this and I can’t wait to show what I can do.

“It is completely irrelevant and I have changed a lot as a professional. It has allowed me to breathe as a fighter and understand more about boxing.

“I have got experience now and from the day I started boxing being heavyweight champion of the world was always on my mind.

“I have the advantage over Nathan in speed and power which plays a massive advantage but there is a lot more to me as well.

“I can match any of the fastest heavyweights out there and I am just ready for a fight.

“This fight will add recognition to my name and I can move on. The big goals are within my reach and I’m really excited.

“I didn’t pay too much attention to Joshua v Ruiz as I thought it was a formality for Joshua.”

NATHAN GORMAN

“It is a fight I have wanted from the day I turned professional and I am counting down the days.

“I know what kind of fight it is going to be. We know each other inside out and I know what he brings to the table – it is an exciting fight.

“We were on the GB squad together for two to three years. We sparred hundreds of rounds and in each spar we wanted to do damage. I felt I never lost a round sparring him.

“He knows he isn’t faster than me. We will see on the night, but he knows deep down exactly what it is.

“I have the edge in everything he does. I have an answer for everything he does. Daniel is a little stop on my way to a destination.

“Daniel is a good fighter, but my style beats him and I fully believe that.”

JOE JOYCE

“The juggernaut is here. I throw a lot of punches, throw punches with force and Bryant is going to get run over.

“I have had a brief look at what he brings and we have started to dissect his performances on where I can capitalise.

“I am superior in stature even if he has a freaky reach. I cannot wait and there are going to be some heavy hits.

“I didn’t see the Ruiz performance coming. I was gonna have money on Joshua round four, but big respect to Ruiz.”

SAM JONES (S-JAM Boxing)

“Joe could have easier options, but right now he needs a competitive fight although in my opinion there is only one winner.

“Bryant is always in shape, has a great diet, lives a good life, but that and the six pack cant save him. He will get Falafel wrapped and it will end very badly for him.”

BRYANT JENNINGS

“The UK has been one of my homes. I come here often, but this is my first time fighting. I am not here to lay down. I know a win puts me back in the mix.

“I had a fight lined-up for this month, but this offer came and I quickly accepted because it is a high quality fight.

“Do I want a nobody or Joe Joyce? It is high risk and big reward. I am always confident.

“If I didn’t come here with confidence it wouldn’t make a great fight. This is real.

“I saw the Ruiz performance coming because Joshua doesn’t have great defence and I knew the good things Andy can do. He has fast hands, is elusive and deceiving.

“I knew it was the bad style match up for Anthony the way I am for Joe.”

Salita Signs Undefeated Cruiserweight Constantin Bejenaru of Moldova to Promotional Contract

Dmitriy Salita of Salita Promotions proudly announces the signing of undefeated cruiserweight Constantin Bejenaru to a promotional contract.

Bejenaru (13-0, 3 KOs), from Ungheni, in the Republic of Moldova and now living in Brooklyn, is a former highly decorated amateur. He was a 10-time Romanian champion, a Bronze Medalist at the European Amateur Boxing Championships in 2006, a Finalist in the European Union Championships in both 2006 and 2007, and a Gold Medalist at World Combat Games in 2010.

After turning professional in 2012, Bejenaru has gone on to score wide decision victories on ShoBox: The New Generation over previously undefeated Alexey Zubov (10-0, 6 KOs) and Stivens Bujaj (16-0-1, 11 KOs), and in his most recent fight (broadcast on NESN), a decisive points victory over previous world title challenger Thabiso Mchunu (18-3, 11 KOs). In his seven-year career, he has held both the WBC Continental Americas Cruiserweight Title and the WBC International Cruiserweight Championships.

Burdened with promotional problems, the tricky southpaw has been inactive for the past two years, but says he’s returning to boxing with a specific mission: “I am thrilled to be returning to the ring, so that I can continue to pursue my dream of becoming world champion,” said an excited Bejenaru. “I come back stronger and with the same great hunger I have always had to reach the pinnacle of the sport. In the last two years, the cruiserweight division has seen tremendous excitement, with the top fighters competing against each other and a unified champion emerging in Oleksandr Usyk. I look forward to taking on the best and would love to challenge Usyk in the ring.

“I am happy to be working with Dmitriy Salita and Salita Promotions and am confident that he will bring me the opportunities I need in my career. I am ready for any opponent and can promise Dmitriy that I will not disappoint him. Salita Promotions will soon have a new world champion on its roster. For my fans, I come back more powerful than before but with the same exciting, all action style. You can expect to see some very good fights.”

Ukraine-born Salita, who has turned himself into boxing’s best young promoter, partly by unleashing a small army of Eastern European strongmen on the boxing world, says Bejenaru is a welcome addition to his stable.

“I am very excited about signing Constantin Bejenaru, one of the best Cruiserweights in the world,” said Salita. “He has already beaten an impressive roster of top contenders and I am sure will shine when he gets his opportunity to fight for the world title.”

Super Flyweight Prospect Dewayne Beamon Has Taken the Long Road to Nationally Televised Main Event Showcase Against Froilan Saludar

After cleaning out his home state of North Carolina and surrounding area, as his own promoter and manager, talented super flyweight Dewayne “Mr. Stop Running” Beamon went out in search of better competition.

The quest, which involved a two-year stop in what he calls “boxing’s wild west” of Tijuana and Mexico City, has finally landed the 33-year-old a WBO #12-ranking and a promoter determined to help Beamon reach his full potential.

On Saturday, June 22, at CSU’s Wolstein Center in Cleveland, Ohio, that promoter, Ejay Matthews of Bigger Than Life Entertainment, will partner with six-time World Champion Miguel Cotto’s Miguel Cotto Promotions and Mo Entertainment to present “Making A Champion,” a six-fight night of world-class boxing featuring Beamon (16-1-1, 11 KOs) taking on former world title challenger and WBO #14-ranked Froilan “The Sniper” Saludar (30-3-1, 21 KOs) from the Philippines in a 12-round showdown for the WBC United States (USNBC) Super Flyweight Championship in the main event.

Making A Champion will be televised live on CBS Sports (11:00 pm ET/8:00 pm PT) and the exciting undercard will be streamed live on www.fite.tv (7:30 pm ET/4:30 pm PT).

Tickets for “Making A Champion” are priced at $30, $40, $65 and Ringside $150 and are on sale now at wolsteincenter.com or Wolstein Center Box Office on CSU campus.

Beamon is a latecomer to boxing, as he wasn’t able to start amateur boxing until the relatively late age of 24.

“Boxing was always my passion. I was born to box, but my parents wouldn’t let me get into it because I was a football and basketball star and that would get me into college. I had a full scholarship all the way through Southern Virginia University. But the whole time I was in school, I was sneaking off to a boxing gym to train at night. If the school found out what I was doing, I could have been kicked out.”

Upon graduating with a B.A. in Family Childcare Development, Beamon finally had his opportunity and immediately made the most of it. A natural talent, in his short amateur career, he won several titles including two national championships and ended with an impressive 48-2 record.

Beamon turned professional in 2015 and quickly tore through his regional competition to the point that he opened his own promotional company, Stop Running Promotions, and started using his own money and putting on his own shows to lure better opponents into the ring in his own main events, many of them for regional championships. In his four-year professional career, Beamon has already held the UBF World Featherweight, IBO International Super Flyweight, UBF World Super Flyweight, IBO Inter-Continental Super Flyweight and UBF World Super Flyweight Championships.

“I’ve always had trouble finding competition in the US,” explained Beamon. “It’s been like that from the start. I got my nickname when I was 33-0 as an amateur and nobody would fight me. Me and my friends used to say, ‘You all got to stop running,’ to my opponents. So, in the pros, I stared promoting my own fights and paying good money for better opponents to come in and fight me. Sometimes I would make money and sometimes I would lose, but eventually it became too much work to train and fight while doing everything to put on the show, so I stopped promoting and went looking for a promoter.”

Beamon says he found a lot more competition in Mexico and signed with a promotional outfit there, but admits it ultimately wasn’t the situation he was looking for.

“I had to keep fighting in other people’s hometowns. I would still knock them out, but it wasn’t the best deal for me. Nobody would fight me 10 rounds and I was getting hit low and head butted a lot, and nobody said anything. I beat one guy and it’s not even on my Box Rec. It was the Wild Wild West.”

That’s when Beamon met up with Matthews, signed with his promotional company and relocated to Las Vegas to work with Joe Vargas and assistant Luis Anthony at Big Shot Boxing.

“Everything is going great now. I love the training in Vegas. I don’t have to travel around to find good work. I’m sparring with (IBF Mini Flyweight) World Champion Deejay Kriel of South Africa right now. I feel like this deal has moved me a lot closer to my dream of winning a world title.

To move forward, Beamon must get through the formidable Saludar, who challenged former champ Sho Kimura for the World Boxing Organisation World Flyweight belt in July 2018 and, in his 10-year career, has previously held the WBO Asia Pacific Youth Flyweight, WBO Asia Pacific Youth Flyweight, WBO Youth Flyweight, WBO Asia Pacific Flyweight, WBO Oriental Flyweight and WBO Inter-Continental Flyweight Championships.

“I know his promoter only deals with good fighters and he was bought up the right way and promoted the right way, but he always failed when it came to title shots. I also know I’m not letting him beat me,” said Beamon of Saludar. “It feels great to fight on national TV for the first time. It’s like a dream come true. In North Carolina, I’m the number fighter in my division and everybody comes to see me fight. But I know if I ever want to be big-time, I have to fight outside my area and I need to put on the kinds of performances that make people remember my name. I want to make Americans care about the super flyweight division again and this is my chance.”

In the second televised main event, Canada’s undefeated Cody “The Crippler” Crowley (17-0, 9 KOs) will take on the United Kingdom’s Navid “Nav” Mansouri (19-2-2, 6 KOs) in a 12-round battle for the WBC United States (USNBC) Super Welterweight Championship.

In other intriguing match-ups, Cleveland’s own Miguel Angel “Silky Smooth” Gonzalez (24-4, 16 KOs) will fight eight lightweight rounds against Africa’s Albinius “Danny Boy Albino” Felesianu (18-2-1, 7 KOs); and in a six-round super lightweight scrap undefeated Montana “Too Pretty” Love (11-0-1, 5 KOs) will face Africa’s also undefeated Tshibangu “Bebe Rico” Kayembe (9-0-3, 3 KOs).

###

Ray Leonard Jr., son of six-time world champion, Sugar Ray Leonard, along with actor and television host, Chris Spencer will provide the CBS Sports commentary. World renowned clothing designer, Karl Kani will be providing outfits for the ring girls.

The Wolstein Center is located at 2000 Prospect Avenue in Cleveland. On fight night, the doors open at 7:00 pm and the action starts at 7:30 pm. Making A Champion is sponsored by B&M BBQ.

WELBORN PROMISES “BLOODBATH” AGAINST METCALF

JASON WELBORN believes he and all-action rival JJ Metcalf will steal the show when they clash next week.

The vacant Commonwealth super-welterweight championship will be on the line when the pair meet on the Josh Warrington-Kid Galahad undercard at First Direct Arena, Leeds on Saturday June 15, live on BT Sport.

Welborn (24-7, 7KO) is bidding to bounce back after a world title defeat against Jarrett Hurd in December.

The Black Country boxer is guaranteeing fireworks against Liverpool’s Metcalf (19-0, 11KO) adding: “It will be a bloodbath.

“We will go looking for each other. I don’t think we know any other way of fighting and I can’t wait.

“JJ is a strong kid who comes forward and I have to get this win.

“I think it was a good performance against Hurd. There were no excuses and no stone was left unturned. I have to take the positives from that fight into this one with JJ.

“I was hesitating wondering if I would get another chance because I never had a big promoter, but it is a brilliant show Frank Warren has put me on.”

Welborn, 33, lost in four rounds against Hurd, but performed better than many expected and soon re-discovered his fighting mojo following that setback.

The former British middleweight champion said: “I had to switch off from boxing after the Hurd fight, but in January I was discussing everything with my wife and decided I still have ambition and a lot to offer.

“It would have been a shame to call it a day because there are a lot more fights in me.

“It is a big step up for JJ to be fighting me. I am not looking past him and I am just coming to win.

“If I win this I will be back up there. I would love another crack at Liam Smith who beat me five years ago, but this time with a full training camp.

“Until two years ago I was juggling work with boxing and now I have a skip business with good people around me so I can train whenever I need to.

“There are a lot of big fights out there and I would be happy to go back to America. I want to put my name back in the mix again.”

Josh Warrington tops the bill at First Direct Arena, Leeds when he defends his IBF featherweight championship against Kid Galahad on Saturday June 15.

Leading super featherweights Zelfa Barrett and Lyon Woodstock meet in a hotly anticipated clash for the Commonwealth title, with Jason Welborn and JJ Metcalf also vying for the vacant Commonwealth super welterweight championship.

Other fighters confirmed in action on the bill so far include Lyndon Arthur, Alex Dickinson, Tommy Fury, Mark Heffron, Jack McGann and Troy Williamson.

ANDREW ‘EL CHANGO’ CANCIO AND ALBERTO ‘EXPLOSIVO’ MACHADO LOS ANGELES MEDIA ROUNDTABLE QUOTES

LOS ANGELES (June 4, 2019): Andrew “El Chango” Cancio (20-4-2, 15 KOs) and Alberto “Explosivo” Machado (21-1, 17 KOs) hosted a media roundtable at the Golden Boy Headquarters ahead of their 12-round rematch for the WBA Super Featherweight World Title. Their fight will take place on Friday, June 21 at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino and will be streamed live on DAZN.

Below is what both fighters had to say at today’s roundtable:

Andrew Cancio, WBA Super Featherweight World Champion:

“For a lot of people it was a surprise that I beat him, but for me, like I said before coming into the fight, I knew what I was going to do. The way the training camp went I was barely starting to get my rhythm. It’s the first time I’ve been active in a while, back to back to back camps.”

“My body is responding a lot quicker than usual. My timing is even better. This next fight I don’t see anything differently. I feel like we’ve gotten stronger and quicker. It still bothers me when they use the weight issue as a reason he got beat up.”

“I don’t expect anything different for this fight. I think he just went up against a guy that can get hit, get knocked down, and come back to fight even harder. I told people he’d never been in the ring with a fighter like me. He was finally in there with somebody who is going to be in there tough and is going to fight toe-to-toe with him. Leading up to the last fight, he said he had a good camp. We didn’t hear any excuses until after he lost.”

“We’re going to jump on him from the start. He better be ready. Round one is going to be like round five for me. I’m going to jump right on him. I know what I have to do to prevent him from being dangerous.”

Alberto Machado, Former WBA Super Featherweight World Champion:

“I don’t talk too much about [arriving to Freddie’s camp two weeks late] because I want to give all the credit to Cancio. He did his work and won the fight. I had a situation with my family. I have a baby, a one-year-old son. He had surgery in the groin. I had to stay with my wife. I had to tend to my wife. The process of recuperation for a baby is very difficult. It was difficult to come here, and I came here in a condition I had not been used to.”

“Two weeks before the fight I was 17 pounds over. One week before the weigh-in I was 11 pounds over. One day before the weigh-in I was six pounds over. It’s hard for me, but this is part of it. I take full responsibility.”

“My manager, Juan De Leon, is the person working close to my side. He knows what I went through. Regardless, Cancio really did his work in the fight. Now I am getting ready the way I’m supposed to, and I’m extra motivated this time. This Machado will be different. You will see the real Machado. He will be explosive, quick and smart. He’s coming this June 21.”

“When the fight ended the way it did, I still knew in myself that I could beat him. When my team in Miguel Cotto Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions called me, I told them I wanted the rematch. I want to make the sacrifice. I’m going to make the weight good. You’re going to see. I’m decided and motivated.”

Cancio vs. Machado II is a 12-round fight for the WBA Super Featherweight World Title presented by Golden Boy and Miguel Cotto Promotions. The event is sponsored by Tecate, “THE OFFICIAL BEER OF BOXING,” and Hennessy “Never Stop. Never Settle.” The event will take place Friday, June 21 at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino and will be streamed live on DAZN.

Tickets for the event are on sale and are priced at $35, $45 and $55. Tickets will be available at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino box office, by calling 1-800-827-2946, or by purchasing online at www.fantasyspringsresort.com.

Joshua exercises rematch clause against Ruiz

According to Dan Rafael of espn.com, Former unified Heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has exercised the rematch clause that will set up the fight with the man who dethroned him, Andy Ruiz Jr.

“After meetings with AJ, Rob Mc and the management team in NY, we have today triggered the contracted rematch clause with Andy Ruiz Jnr. The fight will take place in Nov/Dec at a venue to be confirmed shortly,” Joshua promoter Eddie Hearn wrote on social media.

“There was no point in waiting,” Hearn told ESPN. “We’ve talked about it and it’s happening. There’s no other fight AJ wants, so there was no point waiting 30 days. Everybody needs clarity. We sat down and it wasn’t even a case of him asking what else is out there. The rematch is the fight we need, and that’s what we’ll be doing.”

“It’s an upset. One shot on top of the dome rattled me quite a bit. Tried to stay in there a few more rounds but the better man won. Respect to Andy and I move forward and look out for the end of the year,” said Joshua, more than two hours after the fight, when he decided to meet the few remaining media members still at the Garden after it had been announced he would not appear because of a concussion. “I never underestimate anyone. He’s a decent puncher, decent fighter. This was his chance, and I always say anyone who comes to box me is 50, 20 percent better than what we’ve seen. These guys are coming to win and he was the better man.”

“It’s a minor setback, if that’s what you want to call it. I feel like this is just part of the journey I’m on, and this is boxing, so what I have to do is evaluate the situation, make it better and we go again,” Joshua said. “I just got beat tonight. On the record it says I got beat, and that’s it. It’s a test of character. I don’t want to say this went wrong, that went wrong. I ain’t dwelling on this. Just move forward, correct it.

“I’ll bounce back and get my hands on those belts again. … I’m gonna beat him up. Tidy up, brush off the cobwebs and fight again. Losing is something we can learn from. Tighten up. Get smart. There’s more to come. Winning is everything, but if you do happen to take an ‘L,’ reset, readjust and bounce back. I do not condone losing. On to the next one. The hunger is always there. I’m ready to go back to work tomorrow.”

“The way I look, the extra flab that I carry — now I want to get in really good shape and look like a Mexican Anthony next time we fight,” Ruiz said with a laugh about why he was so dismissed. “We made it happen. No one can take that from me. Nobody. I just shocked the world. Now I’ve got to work even harder and make a legacy. I’m not going to let these belts go.”

Maryland Takeover: Teofimo Lopez to face Masayoshi Nakatani July 19 in Lightweight World Title Eliminator at MGM National Harbor

OXON HILL, Md. (June 4, 2019) — Teofimo Lopez is one win away from a shot at fulfilling his world title destiny. Standing in his way is fellow unbeaten Masayoshi Nakatani, who is intent on spoiling his plans.

Lopez and Nakatani will lock horns in a 12-round IBF lightweight world title eliminator Friday, July 19 at MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland. The Lopez-Nakatani winner will be the mandatory challenger for the victor of the June 28 ESPN-televised bout between IBF champion Richard Commey and Ray Beltran.

In the highly anticipated chief support bout — also a battle of unbeatens — Maxim “Mad Max” Dadashev will take on Puerto Rican puncher Subriel Matias in a 12-round IBF junior welterweight world title eliminator for the belt currently held by Josh Taylor.

Lopez-Nakatani and Dadashev-Matias will stream live and exclusively on ESPN+, the leading multi-sport streaming service, beginning at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. The combatants in this special doubleheader have a combined 57-0 record with 47 knockouts.

The undercard, including the 10-round super featherweight contest between the unbeaten Erick De Leon and former world champion Jason Sosa, will stream on ESPN+ beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT.

Promoted by Top Rank, tickets for this world championship event priced at $100, $75, $50 and $25 (not including applicable fees) go on sale Friday, June 7 at 10 a.m. ET and can be purchased online at ticketmaster.com or in person at the MGM National Harbor.

“I’m excited to come back, especially for my first headlining bout, one of many to come,” Lopez said. “After Nakatani, you will see me face the winner of Richard Commey and Ray Beltran. If you think you’ve seen it all, you haven’t. My goal is to be a worldwide star, and Nakatani is not going to stop me. Expect another badass knockout, and rest assured, I have something special planned for the celebration. For this fight, we’re doing a nine-week training camp, and I am going to be in the best shape of my career.

“The Takeover is coming July 19 to MGM National Harbor!”

“This fight is just a stop on the way to becoming world champion,” Nakatani said. “I hope all boxing fans in Japan and around the world will enjoy what I bring to the table.”

Lopez (13-0, 11 KOs), ranked No. 4 by the IBF, was born in Brooklyn, raised in Florida, and represented his parents’ native Honduras at the 2016 Rio Olympics. The 21-year-old’s rise up the professional ranks has been meteoric, as he made his debut on a Manny Pacquiao undercard in November 2016 and was the consensus 2018 Prospect of the Year. In 2019, he’s graduated to contender status. He knocked out former world title challenger Diego Magdaleno in seven brutal rounds Feb. 2 in Frisco, Texas. Lopez returned April 20 as the pay-per-view co-feature to the Terence Crawford-Amir Khan bout at Madison Square Garden. He thrilled the hometown fans, knocking out two-time European lightweight champion Edis Tatli in five rounds.

Nakatani (18-0, 12 KOs), from Osaka, Japan, is ranked No. 3 by the IBF and has gone the 12-round distance five times. He has held the OBPF lightweight title since 2014 and has made 11 successful defenses of that belt. Nakatani has won four in a row via knockout, and against Lopez, he will be making his first ring appearance outside of Japan.

Dadashev (13-0, 11 KOs) is a three-year pro who has made a seamless transition to the pro game. A former amateur standout for his native Russia, he won a reported 281 bouts in the unpaid ranks before turning pro under the guidance of famed manager Egis Klimas. Dadashev holds victories over former world champions Antonio DeMarco and Darleys Perez and has won nine of his last ten by knockout. He made his 2019 debut March 23 in Costa Mesa, California, knocking out Ricky Sismundo in four rounds. Matias (13-0, 13 KOs), a southpaw from Fajardo, Puerto Rico, has blown through his competition with ease, as seven of his fights have ended in the first or second round. He made his American debut last October in New Orleans, blowing away former two-division world title challenger Fernando Saucedo in one round.

“It doesn’t matter who I fight or where I fight. I am looking forward to the opportunity in front of me,” Dadashev said. “Matias is a dangerous fighter, but I am ready for whatever he brings. I have fought every kind of style as an amateur and a professional, and all of my experiences have led me to this fight.”

Sosa (22-3-4, 15 KOs), from Camden, New Jersey, upset Javier Fortuna in June 2016 to win the WBA world super featherweight title. He made one successful title before relinquishing his belt to pound-for-pound great Vasiliy Lomachenko. Sosa has won a pair of fights since a controversial decision loss to Yuriorkis Gamboa and knows that a win over De Leon (19-0-1, 11 KOs) will move him closer to another crack at the brass ring.

De Leon, a Detroit product, was a top U.S. amateur who won three consecutive National Golden Gloves championships (2009-11). He turned away Adrian Yung via unanimous decision last July in New Orleans, winning despite injuring his right shoulder in the opening round. De Leon returned to action March 23 in Costa Mesa, California, knocking out Jose Luis Gallegos in seven rounds.

June 15: Andy Vences-Albert Bell Added to Tyson Fury-Tom Schwarz Undercard Live on ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes

LAS VEGAS (June 4, 2019) — A pair of unbeaten super featherweight contenders will get a chance to shine on the sport’s biggest stage. Andy “El Tiburon” Vences will defend his WBC Continental Americas belt in a 10-rounder against Albert “Prince” Bell June 15 at MGM Grand Garden Arena on the Tyson Fury-Tom Schwarz undercard.

Vences-Bell and Mikaela Mayer-Lizbeth Crespo will anchor the live Fury-Schwarz undercard broadcast beginning at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes.

Fury-Schwarz and Jesse Hart-Sullivan Barrera will stream on ESPN+, the leading multi-sport streaming service, starting at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.

Vences-Bell was originally set to take place June 8 in Reno, Nevada, on the Oscar Valdez-Jason Sanchez undercard, but both fighters are excited to take their talents to Las Vegas.

“We were prepared to fight June 8, so this doesn’t change anything. I know this is a big opportunity and that a win would be huge for my career,” Vences said. “I can see Bell getting hurt this fight. He is the only one standing in my way as I move toward a world title shot. He can hit and move all he wants, but it’s going to take much more than that to get my respect.”

“All this does is give me one extra week to train,” Bell said. “I am excited and blessed to be fighting at the MGM Grand on the same card as the heavyweight champion.”

Vences (22-0-1, 12 KOs), from San Jose, California, has won two in a row since a closely contested draw against Erick De Leon on the Oscar Valdez-Scott Quigg undercard March 10 of last year. He is coming off a shutout unanimous decision over Dardan Zenunaj Feb. 10 in Fresno, California. Bell (14-0, 5 KOs), from Toledo, Ohio, has never been close to defeat as a pro but will be taking a giant step up in competition versus Vences. A 2012 National Golden Gloves champion as an amateur, Bell last fought Feb. 15 in Hinckley, Minnesota, scoring a decision win over the durable Edward Kakembo.

Undefeated Rising Prospect Chris Colbert Battles Alberto Mercado & Unbeaten Welterweight Prospect Jésus Ramos Takes on Rondale Hubbert In FOX PBC Fight Night Prelims on FOX and FOX Deportes Sunday, June 23 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas Beginning at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT

LAS VEGAS (June 4, 2019) – Exciting unbeaten prospect Chris Colbert takes on Puerto Rico’s Alberto Mercado in an eight or 10-round lightweight bout and unbeaten welterweight prospect Jésus Ramos battles Rondale Hubbert in a four-round attraction as part of a special FOX PBC Fight Night Prelims on FOX and FOX Deportes Sunday, June 23 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas beginning at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.

Prelims will lead up to FOX PBC Fight Night on FOX and FOX Deportes beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. The show is headlined by former champion Jermell Charlo battling Mexico’s Jorge Cota in a super welterweight attraction and features former world champions Guillermo Rigondeaux and Julio Ceja clashing in a 12-round WBC featherweight title eliminator in the co-feature. Also in action is sensational unbeaten prospect Joey Spencer, as hefaces Akeem Black in a six-round junior middleweight bout.

Tickets for the event, which is promoted by Lions Only Promotions, TGB Promotions and Mayweather Promotions, are on sale now and can be purchased at AXS.com.

Representing his hometown of Brooklyn, N.Y., Colbert (11-0, 4 KOs) has begun to make a name for himself showing off tremendous skills across his first 11 pro victories. The 22-year-old most recently blasted out Mario Briones by second-round knockout in April on FS1. He will take on a durable 31-year-old in Mercado (16-2-1, 3 KOs), who has never been stopped throughout a pro career dating back to 2009. The Humacao, Puerto Rico-native most recently won a unanimous decision over Sergio Lopez in March.

“I’m preparing for a big day on June 23,” said Colbert. “This is chapter 12 in my career. I know Mercado will come to fight just like he’s supposed to. I’m just focused on putting on another dominant performance, like I do every time. Mercado has a good record on paper, but I’ll do what I do best at Mandalay Bay and make it look easy. People say you have to fight in Vegas to become a top-notch fighter, so I’m excited to fight there. We’ll be fighting in primetime on FOX, so I’ll get a chance to show everyone why I changed my nickname to ‘Prime Time’.”

“I’m ready for this fight on June 23,” said Mercado. “I know who I’m facing and what I’m up against, but I’m working hard every day on a strategy that will give me what I need in to be successful. I have all the tools to make this a great fight and get the win. I’m going to be aggressive and bring the fight to him. His only advantage is speed, but I’m better at everything else.”

Having scored knockouts in each pro fight since turning pro last May, Ramos (9-0, 9 KOs) made his U.S. debut in April with a knockout over Seifullah Wise. The 19-year-old from Casa Grande, Arizona will be opposed by the 30-year-old Hubbert (13-8-2, 8 KOs), who fights out of Fargo, North Dakota.

Spencer (7-0, 6 KOs) will appear on the FOX PBC Fight Night broadcast with his bout against Black (5-2, 2 KOs) serving as part of the show following prelims. At just 19-years-old and having only turned pro just over a year ago, Spencer has shown the tremendous skill and promise he possesses across his first seven pro fights. In April on FS1, the Linden, Michigan-native displayed his boxing acumen in going six rounds for the first time to earn a dominant unanimous decision over Osias Vasquez. He will take on the Chicago-born Black, who enters this fight on a two-bout winning streak.

CHEESEMAN-CONWAY CONFIRMED FOR JUNE 21

Ted Cheeseman will make the first defence of his British Super-Welterweight title against Kieron Conway at London’s York Hall on Friday June 21, live in Sky Sports in the UK and DAZN in the US.

Cheeseman (15-1, 9 KOs) worked at a relentless pace to out-fight Asinia Byfield and land the vacant Lord Lonsdale belt at the Copper Box Arena last October before stepping up to challenge EBU European Champion Sergio Garcia in his first ever headline fight at The O2 in February.

The Bermondsey man endured his first professional loss as he failed in his bid to wrestle the European crown from Spain’s Garcia, suffering a wide unanimous points defeat. After a short rest ‘The Big Cheese’ is feeling refreshed and ready to return to winning ways against Northampton’s Conway (12-1, 3 KOs).

“I sparred Conway once a couple of years ago,” said Cheeseman. “He isn’t bad, he’s a good fighter and he’s busy, but he’s very inexperienced. I think he’s only lost one out of thirteen but the maximum he’s done is an eight rounder. Everyone knows that I can do 12 rounds at a very high pace. Even though I got beat and I never looked my best in my last fight, I still stuck it out for the full 12 rounds at a high pace – from the first bell to the last.

“I’ve learnt a lot of things from my first professional defeat and we’ve worked on a lot of things in the gym. Now I know what to do at that level. It’s all about beating Kieron Conway and getting back on a wining run. The first fight is Conway and I’m not looking past him. This is the biggest fight of my career as I’m coming off of a loss. I need to win to get back to where I want to be.”

“I’m massively looking forward to this and I cannot wait,” said Conway. “The British title is the pinnacle of domestic boxing and every British fighter dreams of these opportunities. I’m a beast at Super-Welterweight and it’s important for me to keep my momentum going.

“I really enjoy preparing for fights so it’s great that I’ve got another one so quickly since my last fight. I sparred six rounds with Cheeseman about two years ago, but two weeks can make huge differences in boxing let alone two years, so I can’t really take much from that.

“I’m really excited that it’s live on Sky Sports and DAZN too. It’s a huge platform and hopefully a lot of people will be watching us go at it. Being a British champion has always been a big dream of mine as it would be great for me but also history for my town of Northampton.”

Cheeseman vs. Conway is part of a bumper card in East London, Crystal Palace Light-Heavyweight Craig Richards (14-1, 8 KOs) takes on undefeated former Southern Area champion Andre Sterling (10-0, 4 KOs) in an intriguing all-London Final Eliminator for the prestigious Lord Lonsdale Light-Heavyweight belt, Crowthorne Super-Featherweight Charles Frankham (1-0) looks to make if two wins from two fights, fast-rising Watford Bantamweight talent Shannon Courtenay (2-0) steps up to take part in her first six round contest, former Commonwealth Super-Featherweight champion Reece Bellotti (13-2, 11 KOs) steps through the ropes for the first time since his British title loss to Ryan Walsh and Ohio Lightweight prospect Otha Jones III (1-0) takes part in his second professional contest.

Tickets priced £40, £70 and £130 VIP are available to purchase NOW via StubHub (www.stubhub.co.uk).

YIGIT FACES OZGUL AT LONDON’S YORK HALL ON ESPN+

World title challenger Anthony Yigit (23-1-1, 8 KOs) will meet Siar Ozgul (15-3, 3 KOs) at the #MTKFightNight on June 28 at York Hall in London, on ESPN+.

The former EBU Super Lightweight king is back following a fifth-round stoppage win over Sandro Hernandez on May 4 in Frankfurt, and is looking forward to facing the Turkish-born Ozgul at the iconic British boxing venue.

“Siar is just the opponent I need to test my skill and brains in the ring,” said the 27 year-old southpaw. “He’s rough, making sure to bring the fight to you, and he’s been in the ring and gone the distance with former World Champion Viktor Postol so I’m not expecting an easy fight.

“I’m really looking forward to fighting at York Hall. I’ve watched my friends fight there before and I was so jealous of them because it’s a legendary venue with a great atmosphere. It’s almost as if it was built for boxing.”

Yigit’s eight-round super lightweight clash with Ozgul is part of an ESPN+ broadcast that will also feature Ohara Davies vs. Miguel Vazquez, Chantelle Cameron vs. Anisha Basheel in a WBC World title eliminator and Ryan Walsh vs. Lewis Paulin for the British Featherweight crown.

Having impressed in his World Boxing Super Series Quarter-Final clash with Ivan Baranchyk in New Orleans, Yigit is relishing the opportunity to showcase his skills in front of an American audience again.

“The US audience has shown me lots of love following my World title fight with Ivan Baranchyk in the World Boxing Super Series,” he says. “Even though it didn’t go my way, they made it clear they wanted to see me in the ring again, and I will make sure to show my appreciation on fight night.

“I will be preparing for this fight in Stockholm with Joel Grandel at Hammarby Boxing Club. The Hammarby sports organisation together with their soccer, ice hockey club and fans has shown me great support and I’m honoured to be one of them. I’ve also got Erik Skoglund on my team and he will be helping me become the best I can on fight night.”

Said promoter Nisse Sauerland: “We’re delighted to be working with MTK. This is a great fight for Anthony and great match up for the fans. It’s going to be an explosive night at London’s famous York Hall, and we’re excited that American fans are going to get the opportunity to see Anthony in action on ESPN+.”

LAY OFF JOSHUA, BLASTS DUBOIS

DANIEL DUBOIS has told the critics to lay off his former Team GB amateur team-mate Anthony Joshua.

Joshua shockingly lost his world heavyweight title to Andy Ruiz Jr at the weekend and immediately came under fire after being floored four times and stopped in seven rounds.

Dubois (11-0, 10KO) said: “I know AJ from our time in Sheffield and it isn’t nice to see the criticism he’s getting.

“It is one defeat and it is crazy that he is being told he is finished. Most boxers can only dream of what he has achieved as an amateur and professional.

“I have heard the talk of him not being right before the fight, but the only people who know if that is true are AJ and those closest to him.

Unbeaten Dubois is preparing to meet bitter enemy Nathan Gorman (16-0 11KO) for the vacant British heavyweight title at London’s o2 on Saturday July 13, live on BT Sport.

The winner will be closing in on new IBF, WBA and WBC king Ruiz, Lineal champ Tyson Fury, WBC title holder Deontay Wilder and Joshua – the division’s big four

Dubois added: “Apart from when he knocked Ruiz Jr down, nothing seemed to go right whatever he tried in the ring. He didn’t seem there.

“The third round became a very bad one for him and I am wondering if he may have been concussed from those knockdowns.

“Bottom line is Ruiz Jr did the business, but only AJ knows if he has the appetite top come back.

“I’m not far away from these guys. I just need to keep working, learning and making sure I beat Nathan Gorman next month.”

Tickets for ‘Heavy Duty’ featuring Daniel Dubois v Nathan Gorman for the vacant British Heavyweight Title, plus Olympic silver medallist Joe Joyce v Bryant Jennings are on sale now. The show also features British Middleweight Champion Liam Williams, super flyweight sensation Sunny Edwards and super featherweight contender Archie Sharp. Also returning after an impressive debut is Kent bantamweight Dennis McCann. Hamza Sheeraz, Mark Chamberlain, Jake Pettitt, Louie Lynn, Mickey Burke Jr and Florian Marku add to an exciting line up and tickets are available via AXS.com, Eventim and Ticketmaster and are priced as below:

WBC Super Welterweight Champion Tony Harrison Injures Ankle & is Forced to Withdraw from Rematch Against Former Champion Jermell Charlo

LAS VEGAS (June 3, 2019) – Super welterweight world champion Tony Harrison injured his ankle in training last week and has withdrawn from his title defense against former world champion Jermell Charlo that was scheduled to headline FOX PBC Fight Night on FOX and FOX Deportes Sunday, June 23 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Harrison has an inner and outer ankle sprain with torn ligaments in his right ankle and he will be out for 10 weeks before he can resume training. Harrison and Charlo plan to have their rematch later this year.

Stepping in to replace Harrison for a 12-round fight is the always dangerous Jorge Cota (28-3, 25 KOs), who most recently lost a disputed split-decision in April on FS1 against Jeison Rosario. The 31-year old from Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico had scored three straight knockout victories before the defeat in April.

“Watching my Mexican brother Andy Ruiz fight last weekend, I am very motivated,” said Cota. “I saw how he got an unexpected chance to become a champion and surprise the world. He has inspired me to win this fight in the same way. I will shock the world on June 23 just like Andy did on Saturday, for Mexico, the country that I love. This is the most important fight of my career.”

“As we have seen from Andy Ruiz’s incredible upset of Anthony Joshua in the heavyweight championship fight on Saturday night, replacement fighters are not to be taken as a joke,” said Tom Brown, President of TGB Promotions. “Jorge Cota is a dangerous fighter. He has heavy hands and he’s looking for an opportunity to make a statement. Jermell Charlo realizes just how serious this is and he wants to get his title back. I know he’s going to be prepared to make his own statement.”

The 29-year-old Charlo will now have to wait for his opportunity to avenge the only loss of his career and regain his title against Harrison. Fighting out of Houston, Texas, Charlo won the vacant WBC title with a devastating knockout victory over John Jackson in 2016. He made three successful defenses of the title with highlight-reel knockouts over Charles Hatley and Erickson Lubin, plus a majority decision win over former champion Austin Trout.

“It feels like a heartbreak,” said Charlo. “I was ready to destroy Tony Harrison and now I’m going to get in there and destroy Cota. I always pray for my opponent to have safe care and make it to the fight healthy. It’s unfortunate that Tony Harrison isn’t my next victim. I want the best Harrison so I want him healed up and ready to go, because that will only bring out the best in me.

“I feel my title was taken from me and being held hostage and I want it back. I will go through anything to get it back. The moment he’s cleared to fight I want the match and I will get my title back. I’m going in June 23 for a dominant victory with a ferocious attitude and a mindset to destroy, because I know I can’t leave it to the judges anymore.”

Harrison’s injury is the latest twist in the super welterweight division that started last December when Harrison and Charlo’s first encounter took place live on FOX. Harrison won the decision to upset Charlo and take away the title. The close nature of the bout helped warrant an immediate rematch that promises to be just as highly charged and dramatic. Julian “J-Rock” Williams scored a hard-fought unanimous decision over Jarrett Hurd as the IBF and WBA titles changed hands as well in May.

This setback for Harrison, who is from Detroit and was trained early in his career by the late Emanuel Steward, is another challenge for the 28-year-old champion. Harrison was on track for a title shot before suffering the first loss of his career in 2015 to Willie Nelson. After three-straight wins, he earned a shot at the vacant 154-pound title against Jarrett Hurd. Although Harrison had strong moments in the fight, he eventually lost to Hurd and was forced to again climb to the top. After another three victories, including a win over former champion Ishe Smith, Harrison took advantage of his second world title opportunity against Charlo.

Tickets for the event, which is promoted by Lions Only Promotions, TGB Promotions and Mayweather Promotions, are on sale now and can be purchased at AXS.com.

Split-T Management’s Ray Robinson Outworks, and Out punches Josh Kelly, Yet settles for a draw

NEW YORK (June 3, 2019) –Despite dictating the pace of the fight, welterweight contender Ray Robinson had to settle for a for a majority draw in his 10-round WBA International title bout with Josh Kelly in a fight that took place this past Saturday night at Madison Square Garden.

Split-T Management’s prized middleweight prospect, Diego Pacheco stopped Jared Chauvin in the 1st round.

Robinson pressured Kelly throughout most of the contest, and had Kelly in the corner or against the ropes as he came forward behind combinations.  Kelly was resigned to throwing mostly one-shot at a time, and Robinson looked like he was building a comfortable lead on the scorecards.  In round seven, Kelly was cut over his left eye.  In round ten, Kelly was cut around the right  eye. Kelly needed to sweep the final round just to have the scores read 96-94 for Kelly and 95-95 twice,

This is the 2nd consecutive draw for Robinson, who drew with WBO number-one ranked Egidijus Kavaliauskas on March 30th.  Robinson who has shown no-fear in fighting anyone in the welterweight division, as he took on Kelly, who was a 2016 Olympian and came in with a perfect record of 9-0 and was ranked number-nine by the WBA.

With the draw, Robinson, who himself is ranked number-13 by the WBC is 24-3-2.

“He’s the champ, and they said that you have to outwork the champ, and I feel that’s what I did.  He did a lot of moving his body and head.  I stalked him.  The brought a pup to a dogfight, and I did what I was supposed to do to get the “W”.  I thought I pulled it out.  I am in the sport to take chances.  I fight on other promoter’s cards.  If they think they are the best, I want them to prove it to me,” said Robinson.

Pacheco, of Los Angeles, was the number-one ranked amateur in the United States and Mexico, dropped Chauvin with a hard right hand to gain his 2nd consecutive opening round round, and subsequently raised his perfect mark to 4-0 with three knockouts.

Kevin Dever Sports Management signs Undefeated heavyweight prospect Amron Sands

CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y. (June 3, 2019) — Kevin Dever Sports Management has announced the signing of undefeated heavyweight prospect Amton “Sandman” Sands to an exclusive managerial contract.

The 25-year-old Sands (8-0, 7 KO), a native of the Bahamas, lives and trains in Orlando, Florida. He stands 6′ 6″ and weighs 250 pounds.

Dever has been a boxing manager for many years, however, issues with his last two boxers left him discouraged, and he had walked away from boxing. Only a phone call from a close fiend about Sands drew him back to boxing.

“I was disgusted,” Dever commented. “A good friend I really trust told me about Amron and suggested that I give boxing one more try. So, I watched some tapes of him and saw that he punches hard and he can take a punch, too. He’s athletic and very quick on his feet for a big guy. I now know that he’s a very graceful, carefree guy but, when the bell rings, it’s like a switch goes off and he’s a different guy. He reminds me of how Lennox Lewis was, and I got my start working on his team. I learned a lot and hopefully Amron will be close to being as successful as Lennox.”

Sands is thrilled to have a veteran boxing manger such as Dever in his corner. “I signed with Kevin because he is very educated about the sport of boxing and he came highly recommended,” Sands said. “He really knows boxing and I feel comfortable working with him. I know that we are going to make some big things happen.

“I can do it all. I can box, but I favor brawling, because it shows who has the bigger heart. No one has a bigger heart than me. I just need to listen to my team and let Kevin do his job. I’ll do mine and we can make it to the top.”

Sands was a hot basketball prospect until he damaged hos ACL and MCL, which led him in a roundabout way to boxing. With a lesser vertical jump, Sands realized that basketball wasn’t in his future. He had moved to the United States to enhance his basketball recruiting opportunities but returned home to the Bahamas after recovering from his knee injury. There he hooked up with his former basketball coach, Ron Rodgers, who had opened a boxing gym there.

Rodgers suggested that Sands box because he was such a good all-around athlete. “I looked at Ron like he was crazy,” Sands remembered. “I was too handsome to box, but I started boxing for fitness and as time went by, he persuaded me box.”

At the age of 18, Sands had his first amateur fight, knocking out his opponent out. All of a sudden Sands had a change of mind. Not only did he study bowing, he traveled to training camps in Cuba, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and other places to learn his new craft.

Sand’s plan was to represent the Bahamas at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.

“I tried to go but was told that I wasn’t experienced enough,” Sands added, “The heavyweights they had weren’t at my level. I had been boxing three years and was knocking out people without head gear. I didn’t get to go (to the Olympics) and since I could live in America and the Bahamas, I moved to Orlando (Fla) and started calling coaches who I had met in the amateurs. I loved training, turned pro, and that’s when the party started.”

On August 5, 2017, Sands (pictured above on the right) turned pro in Lakeland, Fla, stopping Julio Mendoza in the opening round. He is now undefeated in eight pro fights, seven ending in knockout, including his last action this past February in St. Petersburg (Fla), in which Hector Hodge failed to get out of round one.

“SLOBBY” GORMAN OUT TO SHOW HE IS BRITAIN’S ANSWER TO ANDY RUIZ JR

NATHAN GORMAN has been given further inspiration to beat Daniel Dubois by new world heavyweight champion, Andy Ruiz Jr.

The Mexican looks out of shape, but that counted for nothing when he bludgeoned granite bodied Anthony Joshua to defeat in New York on Saturday night.

Gorman who admits that like Ruiz Jr he isn’t body beautiful either, challenges Dubois (11-0, 10KOs) for the vacant British heavyweight crown at The O2, London on Saturday July 13.

Gorman (16-0, 11KOs) told Dubois after watching Ruiz Jr’s stunning win: “Turns out chiselled muscles aren’t everything.”

The Nantwich boxer had already been hammered by chiselled Dubois for his shape and described by his bitter rival as “slobby”.

Gorman said: “He knows at the bottom of his heart that I am no easy fight, that is guaranteed.

“It’s a of nonsense to call me “slobby”. My slobby style is going to beat him.

“And when the referee raises my hand I will say to Daniel, ‘You lost to a slob.’

“I take it with a pinch of salt when people mention my body definition.

“If it was bodybuilding competition, Daniel would be Mr Olympia, but it is a fight and if there is one thing I can do well it is fight.

“You don’t have to be body beautiful to win a world title. Andy Ruiz Jr proved that.”

Tickets for ‘Heavy Duty’ featuring Daniel Dubois v Nathan Gorman for the vacant British Heavyweight Title, plus Olympic silver medallist Joe Joyce v Bryant Jennings are on sale now. The show also features British Middleweight Champion Liam Williams, super flyweight sensation Sunny Edwards and super featherweight contender Archie Sharp. Stamp Fairtex Plans To Keep ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Title In Thailand

3 June, 2019 – Shanghai, China ; Stamp Fairtex could not be prouder of her Thai heritage, and one of the ways she honors that heritage is by excelling in the country’s national sport of Muay Thai.

Currently, Stamp is the reigning ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Champion and ONE Atomweight Kickboxing World Champion.

The two-sport world champion has been practicing Muay Thai at a very young age to defend herself from bullies, but years of sacrifices and competitions later, she has become one of the very best Muay Thai competitors in the world.

She will be defending her Muay Thai title in the main event of ONE: LEGENDARY QUEST this coming 15 June at the Baoshan Arena in Shanghai, China against Australian challenger Alma Juniku.

“I am preparing hard for this bout, especially since it will be a title defense,” Stamp said. “I respect Alma and I know what she can bring to the table, but I also know what I am capable of and I have the utmost belief in my skills.”

The 18-year old Juniku has gone toe-to-toe with some of the best Muay Thai athletes in her previous promotions and has held the WBC and IPCC Muay Thai titles in the process.

Stamp will welcome the Australian to the ONE Championship stage, and she has been spending countless hours preparing for her title defense, making sure that she will be ready to overcome her opponent’s strengths.

“Yes, Alma is very patient in her approach, and we have developed a gameplan to be able to use that patience to our advantage,” Stamp stated. “Alma has impeccable timing and her counters are indeed dangerous, but I have nothing but faith in myself, my camp, and my coaches, and I am confident that I can overcome a tough challenger like Alma.”

Stamp believes that Muay Thai is a sport for everyone and not just for the Thai people. She is also excited that “The Art of Eight Limbs” has been spreading internationally. Because it gives her the opportunity to test her skills against the greatest foreign martial artists, Stamp feels motivated even more to successfully defend her title and keep the golden strap in Thailand.

“I am always happy to see other people from other countries get to excel in the sport, and at the same time, I feel that it motivates us from Thailand to do even better, especially since the martial art is part of our culture and our heritage,” Stamp expressed.

“Of course, we would like to show that when it comes to “the Art of Eight Limbs”, we are the best in the world,” she concluded.
