KISSIMMEE, Fla. (April 25, 2019)— Masayuki Ito won the WBO junior lightweight title last July in Kissimmee, Florida. For title defense number two, he’s returning to the city of his greatest triumph.

Ito, who recently signed a long-term co-promotional contract with Top Rank, will defend his title against 2012 U.S. Olympic boxing team captain and U.S Marine Corps veteran Jamel “Semper Fi” Herring Saturday, May 25 at Osceola Heritage Park. Ito-Herring will headline a special Memorial Day weekend edition of Top Rank on ESPN beginning at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT on ESPN and ESPN Deportes. Ito (25-1-1, 13 KOs) claimed the vacant WBO junior lightweight title with an upset decision win over Christopher “Pitufo” Diaz at the Kissimmee Civic Center. The Diaz fight marked Ito’s United States debut and the first time he’d fought away from his native Japan. He returned home for his first title defense on Dec. 30, scoring a seventh-round TKO over Evgeny Chuprakov.

Herring (19-2, 10 KOs), who served two tours of duty in Iraq as a field electrician, turned pro in December 2012 and won the first 15 bouts of his career. He lost a pair of fights as a lightweight, including a razor-thin decision to Ladarius Miler in August 2017. Following the Miller defeat, Herring signed on with Top Rank, hired trainer/manager Brian McIntyre and moved down to 130 pounds. Since then, he is 3-0, including an ESPN-televised decision victory over John Vincent Moralde last September on the Jose Ramirez-Antonio Orozco card in Fresno, California. In his last bout, Dec. 14 in Corpus Christi, Texas, he notched a clear points decision over Adeilson Dos Santos.

Pedraza (25-2, 12 KOs) won the IBF junior lightweight title in 2015 and made a pair of title defenses. Following a 2017 TKO loss to Gervonta Davis, he moved up to the lightweight division. In his third bout at lightweight, he won a unanimous decision over Ray Beltran to claim the WBO title. Less than four months later, he faced off against WBA champion Vasiliy Lomachenko to unify world titles. He was competitive, but Lomachenko scored a pair of 11th-round knockdowns to secure the unanimous decision. Lozada (40-2-1, 34 KOs) burst onto the world stage last March, knocking out highly touted prospect Felix Verdejo in the 10th and final round. Since then, he is 1-0-1, including a disputed draw versus Hector Ambriz.

“I feel very happy because on May 25 I will be fighting in a big world championship event where I will be facing a great Mexican warrior like Antonio ‘Cañitas’ Lozada in front of my people in Kissimmee,” Pedraza said. “I know I will get all that affection and support of all the Puerto Rican fans. The entire undercard will stream live in the United States exclusively on ESPN+ starting at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT and will showcase a host of prospects in competitive matchups.

In a 10-round crossroads bout featuring a pair of one-loss featherweight prospects, Adam Lopez (12-1, 5 KOs) will face off against Puerto Rican puncher Jean Carlos Rivera (15-1, 10 KOs). Lopez has won four in a row, while Rivera is looking to rebound from a unanimous decision loss last October to the unbeaten Jason Sanchez.

Jeyvier Cintron (10-0, 5 KOs), one of the sport’s fastest-rising 115-pound prospects, will face his toughest test to date against former interim flyweight world champion and one-time super flyweight world title challenger Koki Eto (24-4-1, 19 KOs) in a 10-rounder. Cintron represented his native Puerto Rico at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, becoming the first two-time boxing Olympian in his nation’s history.

Steve “So Cold” Nelson (13-0, 10 KOs), a stablemate of pound-for-pound king Terence “Bud” Crawford, will take on Victor “The Spartan” Darocha (8-4-1, 6 KOs) in an eight- round super middleweight bout.

NABO junior welterweight champion Yomar “The Magic” Alamo (16-0, 12 KOs) will defend his belt in a 10-rounder against an opponent to be determined.

Antonio Vargas (10-0, 4 KOs), who represented the United States at the 2016 Rio Olympics, will fight Jose Maria Cardenas (16-4, 13 KOs) in an eight-round bantamweight bout.

Middleweight dynamo Edgar “Pachanga” Berlanga (10-0, 10 KOs) will look to make it 11 first-round KOs in as many fights against Hungarian veteran Gyorgy Varju (7-4, 4 KOs) in an eight-rounder.

Originally from Havana, Cuba and currently residing in Orlando, Florida, Alfonso (18-0, 8 KOs) was a highly-decorated Cuban amateur who represented Cuba in the 2008 Olympics in addition to capturing a gold medal in the Cuban National Championships. The 32-year-old owns amateur victories over heavyweight contenders Luis Ortiz, Oscar Rivas, Andy Ruiz Jr. and Michael Hunter. Alfonso was victorious three times in 2018 before defeating Ray Austin in his 2019 debut in February. He will take on the 33-year-old Kiladze (26-4, 18 KOs), who is originally from Georgia but now lives in Los Angeles. Kiladze will look to rebound from his last outing, a loss to rising heavyweight Joe Joyce.

At just 21-years-old, Hitchins (8-0, 4 KOs) has quickly become a BROOKLYN BOXING staple, competing in seven of his first eight bouts at his hometown arena. LAS VEGAS, NV (April 25, 2019) – Prince Ranch Boxing’s undefeated featherweight prospect, Victor Pasillas (13-0, 5 KOs), returns to the ring this Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Cheer’s Bar and Grill in Tijuana, Mexico. Pasillas will face Saul Banos (14-14-2, 7 KOs) in an 8-round bout on a card titled “Battle at the Boarder” promoted by GM3 Boxing and Gonzalez Boxing Promotions.

“I can’t wait to get back in the ring and unleash my fury on this man,” said Pasillas, who is managed by Greg Hannley of Prince Ranch Boxing. “I’m like a Pitt Bull just wanting to fight. 2019 will be the year I make my mark in boxing. According to Dan Rafael of espn.com, Mikey Garcia has vacated the WBC Lightweght title.

“I’ve been speaking with (WBC president) Mauricio Sulaiman, and I know the organization requires the champion to defend their title, and I haven’t had the opportunity to do that. Not that I wouldn’t want to. I would love to be able to defend my title, but there are also other options that I am exploring,” Garcia said during an appearance on “Inside PBC Boxing” on Wednesday night.

Later in the interview, Garcia said, “I’m going to vacate the title. I don’t plan on fighting right now, my next fight, at 135.”

And so on Thursday he vacated. He said the reason was because he wanted to “look at options at 147 (pounds).”

“It’s hard to say definite. For the moment we are (done at lightweight). For the moment,” he said. “My next fight’s not going to be at lightweight and that’s the reason why I will vacate the title. My next fight will not be at lightweight therefore the title will be vacant.

“I want to see what options are available at 140 or 147 for my return fight. But I do want to pursue another title shot at 147. I really do. So at that time we’ll see who is available, which champion is available and willing to give me a shot. My next fight might be at 140. It might be at 147. I’m not sure yet. I got to explore those options. I want big fights. If I can get another title shot next I would do it. Probably not going to happen but I would definitely jump on a title opportunity. I do want a fifth world title in a fifth division.”

“The WBC Board of Governors will review the lightweight division to order a fight for the WBC lightweight world championship involving mandatory challenger Luke Campbell in the coming days,” the WBC said.

New York, NY (April 25, 2019) DiBella Entertainment has signed fast-rising super lightweight star Sonny Fredrickson (20-1, 13 KOs), of Toledo, OH, to an exclusive promotional agreement.

The 24-year-old Fredrickson will take his first bow under the DiBella Entertainment banner this Saturday, April 27, against undefeated Kazakh prospect Bakhtiyar Eyubov (14-0-1, 12 KOs) over 10 rounds at the Cajundome in Lafayette, LA. The fight will take place on the undercard of the highly anticipated World Boxing Super Series semi-finals between WBC Diamond Super Lightweight Champion Regis Prograis and WBA Super Lightweight Champion Kiryl Relikh. Fredrickson vs. Eyubov will be broadcast on DAZN (9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT).

Prior to turning professional in 2014, Fredrickson was a very accomplished amateur, compiling a record of 120-8, with 60 knockouts. Competing in the 2013 National Golden Gloves, Fredrickson finished in the top eight of the world class field of amateur boxers. He was also a two-time Ohio State Junior Olympics Champion and a five-time Toledo Golden Gloves Champion.

Originally from Ukraine, but now training in Los Angeles, Redkach (22-4-1, 17 KOs) has won back-to-back fights heading into June 1, defeating Brian Jones last June and Tyrone Harris in February. The 33-year-old is a training camp teammate of featherweight champion Leo Santa Cruz and put together those recent victories after losing contests to John Molina Jr. and Argenis Mendez on FS1. The December 2017 battle against Molina saw both men hit the canvas in a firefight that garnered Fight of the Year recognition.

The 31-year-old Willie Monroe, Jr. (23-3, 6 KOs) has shown the skills to compete at the elite level, having faced top middleweights Gennady Golovkin and Billy Joe Saunders throughout his career. The 32-year-old from Rochester, NY holds victories over Gabriel Rosado, Brian Vera and Brandon Adams and has won back-to-back fights heading into June 1.

Representing his home of Sapele, Nigeria, Ehwarieme (17-0, 16 KOs) was a 2008 Olympian who is unbeaten since turning pro in 2010. The 31-year-old has a 16-fight knockout streak heading into his U.S. debut, as he continues to seek a path to becoming the first Nigerian heavyweight champion since Samuel Peter. He will be opposed by San Jose, California’s Hernandez (12-7-2, 3 KOs), who defeated Nick Jones and then unbeaten LaRon Mitchell in 2018. The 30-year-old has battled heavyweight standouts Adam Kownacki, Michael Hunter and Efe Ajagba in a career dating back to 2011.

HALL OF FAME promoter Frank Warren is delighted to welcome unbeaten heavyweight and Olympic Silver medallist Joe Joyce to the Queensberry Promotions stable in a co-promotional agreement with Ringstar Sports.

The 33-year-old, known as ‘Juggernaut’ is the mandatory challenger for the EBU European heavyweight title, the British heavyweight title and the current holder of the WBA Gold heavyweight title, having previously won the WBA Continental title.

Joyce’s Queensberry Promotions debut will come as chief support to Billy Joe Saunders’ clash with Shefat Isufi on May 18th at the Lamex Stadium, home of Stevenage FC.

The ‘Juggernaut’ turned professional following his silver medal-winning exploits at the 2016 Rio Olympics, where he was considered by many judges to be unfortunate in losing a decision to Tony Yoka in the final.

Joyce’s previous amateur accomplishments include the winning of gold at the 2015 European Games and 2014 Commonwealth Games, while he collected bronze at the 2013 European championships and 2015 World Amateur championships.

His professional journey began under the tutelage of his then promoter David Haye’s coach Ismael Salas before he later transferred to Big Bear in California to work with another Hall of Fame trainer in Abel Sanchez.

Now his focus has returned to the UK, Joyce will be trained by Adam Booth.

The Putney-based heavy hitter put a genuine marker down in the heavyweight division in February with an impressive destruction of former world champion Bermane Stiverne inside six rounds in London, having previously recorded a first-round stoppage of the 23-2 Joe Hanks at the Staples Center in December on the undercard of the Tyson Fury-Deontay Wilder world title showdown.

His statement performances have seen Joyce installed as mandatory challenger for the EBU European title held by Agit Kabayal, while his ranking with the WBA sees him as a likely challenger to the regular champion Manuel Charr.

He has also been mandated by the British Boxing Board of Control to fight for the vacant British heavyweight title against emerging force Daniel Dubois, who is now a Queensberry stablemate.

Not short of options, Joyce himself expressed no particular preference when pressed on a favoured foe.

“It doesn’t matter who it is,” he considered. “Manuel Charr, Agit Kabayal or Daniel Dubois – the Juggernaut ploughs through all!

“I am delighted to be joining up with Frank and the Queensberry team,” added Joyce. “I am now in the right place to accelerate my progress and really make my mark on the UK scene, while continuing to press forward towards world titles.

Doheny (21-0 15 KOs) is on the road again having landed his IBF strap in Japan against Ryosuke Iwasa in August. The Australia-based Irishman then saw off another tough fighter from the land of the Rising Sun in Ryohei Takahashi in New York in January in his first defense, grinding the challenger down with an 11th round stoppage.

Doheny sees similarities in his opponent, as Roman (26-2-1 10 KOs) ripped his WBA title from Ryo Matsumoto in Japan in February 2018. The LA star comfortably brushed aside Moises Flores on points in June in Dallas before swatting aside the challenge of Gavin McDonnell in Chicago in October with a tenth round stoppage.

Doheny and Roman tussle for 122lbs supremacy on Friday night and the 32 year old says that he and Roman are doing exactly what champions should do – raise the bar towards greatness.

“My prediction? Fireworks!” said Doheny. “It’s not my style to predict too much, but the fans can expect a great fight. I know Danny is going to bring it and you better believe that I am more than ready for anything he brings.

(April 24, 2019) — Rob “Bravo” Brant and Ryota Murata have a painful shared history. They waged a toe-to-toe battle last October in Las Vegas that saw Brant wrest the WBA middleweight title away from Murata via unanimous decision.

It’s time for the rematch.

Brant will make the second defense of that title against Murata Friday, July 12 at Edion Arena Osaka in Osaka, Japan. Murata, who captured a gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics, is one of his nation’s most revered sporting heroes and will look to gain vengeance in front of his home fans.

Brant threw 1,262 punches — the second-most ever recorded by CompuBox in a middleweight fight — to overwhelm Murata. For his first title defense, in front of a standing-room-only crowd at the Grand Casino in Hinckley, Minnesota, Brant knocked out the previously unbeaten Khasan Baysangurov in the 11th round.

Murata (14-2, 11 KOs) had a fast rise through the pro ranks after turning pro in August 2013. He won the first 12 bouts of his career before losing a highly controversial split decision to Hassan N’Dam in May 2017 for the vacant WBA middleweight title. He exacted revenge five months later, stopping N’Dam in seven rounds to win the title. Murata made one successful title defense before running into the Brant buzzsaw last October.

NEW YORK (April 24, 2019) -Two-Time Olympian from India, Vikas Krishan made it two straight to start his pro career as he took a six-round unanimous decision over Noah Kidd at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Also on Saturday night, cruiserweight, Joe Jones needed just 61 seconds to take out previously undefeated Montez Brown in a cruiserweight bout at The Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington, Maryland.

The Krishan – Kidd bout was seen live on ESPN 2.

Krishan fought through a cut over his left eye, but controlled the action with his aggressiveness, and he landed shots on the inside as well boxed well from distance. Krishan won by scores of 60-54 twice and 59-55.

The 27 year-old Krishan was an Olympian in 2012 and 2016, and is the only Indian fighter in history to capture gold medals at both the Asian and Commonwealth Games as well as the AIBA Youth Boxing Championships.

In 2012, at the London Olympics, he defeated current IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. via 13-11 decision, only for the decision to be controversially overturned five hours later due to various fouls Krishan committed during the bout.

In the last Olympics, Krishan made it to the quarterfinals. He became the first three-medal winner of the Asian Games as he won a Bronze Medal.

Jones was able to drop Brow with a hard right hand. Jones continued to dominance as he landed a flurry of punches to the body and head before the bout was stopped.

With the win, Jones, 24 years-old of Leesburg, Virginia is now 10-1 with eight-knockouts.

JOSH WARRINGTON MAKES a second defence of his IBF world featherweight title against mandatory challenger Kid Galahad at the FD Arena in Leeds on June 15 and a number of the supporting acts to this huge main event can now be revealed.

English super featherweight champion Zelfa Barrett will have his second fight – his first being this weekend in Oldham – since recovering from an Achilles injury that has kept him out of the ring since June of last year.

Barrett, 20-1, will be bidding to firmly re-establish himself amongst the leading super feathers in the country and will work towards potential showdowns against the likes of British champion Sam Bowen, WBO European title holder Archie Sharp and Lyon Woodstock, who made a winning return in March after being defeated on points by Sharp.

Barrett will be joined on the bill by gym-mate Lyndon Arthur, 14-0, who is looking to gatecrash the burgeoning light heavyweight scene headed up domestically by mandatory world title challenger Anthony Yarde.

‘King Arthur’, who has been the executor of 11 KOs from his 14 professional fights, is a former Team GB international amateur who believes he should be considered alongside Yarde and his former GB teammate Joshua Buatsi as a formidable future force in the division.

The Team GB squad is further represented on the card by Jack Bateson, the 24-year-old featherweight who joins Josh Warrington in flying the flag for Leeds on the bill. Bateson is 9-0 since turning professional and has twice previously featured on Warrington undercards.

LOS ANGELES (April 23, 2019): Rising star Vergil Ortiz Jr. (12-0, 12 KOs) will have the opportunity of a lifetime as his scheduled 10-round welterweight battle against Mauricio “El Maestro” Herrera (24-8, 7 KOs) will now be the co-main event of Canelo vs. Jacobs. As previously announced, the night will also feature the likes of Pablo Cesar “El Demoledor” Cano, Lamont Roach Jr., John “The Gorilla” Ryder, Sadam “World Kid” Ali and Joseph “JoJo” Diaz Jr. in separate bouts.The event will take place Saturday, May 4 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and will be streamed live exclusively on DAZN.

The native of Dallas, Texas, who has his roots in Michoacan, Mexico, will return after defeating Jesus Valdez in January of this year. Ortiz Jr. will move up to welterweight for this fight only, and he plans to make a statement to the fighters of the 140-pound weight division, where the 21-year-old plans to return after this tough test.

The 22-year-old Villa (15-0, 5 KOs) returns in a 10-round bout for his second consecutive test on the prospect developmental series after dispatching then-unbeaten Ruben Cervera in the first ShoBox telecast of 2019. The two-time National Golden Gloves Amateur Champion and highly touted prospect Villa will take on the Mexican Lopez (17-1, 8 KOs), who is coming off an upset victory over Ray Ximenez in his U.S. debut in February.

Villa, who started boxing when he was just five years old, compiled an impressive 166-17 record as an amateur. The Salinas, Calif. native was a two-time Junior Olympic National Champion and the 2014 and 2015 National Golden Gloves Champion. He owns impressive amateur victories over Shakur Stevenson, Davin Haney and Gary Antonio Russell.

Villa has registered 15 consecutive professional victories since turning pro in 2016 shortly after the Olympic Trials, including a dominating unanimous decision over Cervera in hisShoBox debut in January. A legitimate prospect, Villa hopes to continue his rapid ascension in the featherweight ranks with an impressive showing against Lopez.

“I am very excited to get the opportunity to headline on ShoBox after being the co-feature earlier this year,” said Villa. “I have been working really hard and getting good sparring in Riverside. My opponent is 17-1, and he has won some regional titles. He is no stick in the mud. I know he comes forward and that should make for an exciting fight. Lopez, a native of Mexicali, Mexico, is coming off the biggest win of his career. In his U.S. debut and first fight outside of Mexico, Lopez won a technical decision over prospect Ray Ximenez to pick up the vacant WBO International Featherweight title. Ranked the No. 11 featherweight in the world by the WBO, the 21-year-old Lopez has won his last five bouts since suffering his only defeat as a pro to Abraham Montoya in 2018.

“I have a belt for a reason and I’m going to defend it proudly on May 10,” said Lopez. “I know Ruben Villa is regarded as a top prospect, but I know I’m better than him and I’m planning to show the world on May 10th.”

The 21-year-old Dutchover, from Midland, Texas, began boxing when he was eight years old compiling a notable amateur record. He was a runner-up at the 2016 National Golden Gloves and a Bronze Medalist in the 2016 Olympic qualifiers. Turning pro in 2016 at the age of 18, Dutchover has won his first 12 professional fights, including knockouts in his last four bouts.

“I’m very excited, I’ve been working for this opportunity all my life,” said Dutchover, who now trains in Los Angeles under the tutelage of Danny Zamora. “I know my opponent is tough and durable. Being on ShoBox is a great opportunity and it is the next steppingstone to reach my ultimate goal, and that is to become world champion.”

Chilean-born Mascarena, who currently resides in Tijuana, Mexico and trains in San Diego, Calif., turned pro in 2017 and has compiled a perfect record through his first ten contests-all within just 12 months. Fighting exclusively in his home country, Mascarena will finally be able to make his U.S. debut after he had a fight fall through in late 2018 and a second fight cancelled in February. Mascarena, who has fought mostly at 140 pounds, has not fought since his unanimous decision victory over Hector Medina 10 months ago.

“I’ve been in top share for a while now, I was set to fight in February but my fight got cancelled,” said the 25-year-old Mascarena. “I come from a family of boxers and we take the sweet science very seriously. On May 10, I will not only be fighting to make a good impression in my U.S. debut, I will be fighting for my family and my entire country. I will make them proud.”

The 21-year-old Sanchez, of Encino, Calif., began boxing when he was eight and compiled an amateur record of 90-18 before turning pro at 19 years old. Fighting exclusively in his home state of California, Sanchez has built up an 11-0 record under famed trainer Joel Diaz. The brother of featherweight prospect Emilio Sanchez, Saul is coming off a majority decision over Luis Fernando Saavedra but faces a stiff step-up in competition against Benitez.

“I’ve always dreamed of having an opportunity like this,” said Sanchez. “To fight on national television against a tough guy like Benitez. I know this fight will not be easy, but I’m ready. I will shine on May 10.”

Benitez, from Queretaro, Mexico, has stayed busy in late 2018 and early 2019, fighting four times in a span of six months. The 21-year-old, who fought 186 times as an amateur, is the lone blemish on featherweight prospect Chaise Nelson’s resume. Bensalem, PA–Miguel Cartagena ends his one-year year layoff when he headlines a seven-bout card against Jesus Soler, of Arecibo, Puerto Rico, in an eight-round flyweight contest as part of Xcite Fight Night 4 at Parx Casino® on Saturday evening, June 15.

Cartagena, 26, of Philadelphia, PA, has not boxed since last June 29 when he dropped an eight-round split decision to Carlos Maldonado, of Los Angeles, in the same ring. A knockdown suffered in the last round cost Cartagena (15-5-1, 6 KOs) the decision.

“I’m excited to be fighting at home again” Cartagena said. “I’m working on staying focused in the ring and sticking to the game plan. I’m going to go out and deliver a main event performance for the fight.”

Cartagena is looking to change his luck both with his record and at home in the fight with the 30-year-old Soler (10-1-1 5 KOs), who is fighting stateside for the second time in his career. Soler’s only loss was in 2013 and since then he’s racked up six wins, three by knockout.

‘Growing up, I had some anger issues; fighting in school, a few red cards playing sports. I wouldn’t say I was especially violent but I certainly had a short fuse,’ confides the 25 year old ‘Punching Preacher, who has won six straight since first punching for pay 18 months back.

‘I grew up a Catholic and weekends were always spent in Church. Once I got to uni, living on my own, I wavered a bit before rededicated my life to The Lord in my final year. Today, as a pastor I give sermons and lead prayers at a Pentecostal Church, and I mentor young people.

‘My faith in God keeps me grounded and reassures me that nothing I face can break me. There’s a big misconception that just because you go to church, life is plain sailing. It’s not. Christians too face challenges and tests but The Lord guides us through. Something good comes out of each challenge which makes us stronger.

‘My faith certainly helps with the mental side of the sport. Above all, it gives me peace and serenity and a happy boxer is a dangerous boxer.

‘Before fights, I pray that neither my opponent or myself sustain any life-threatening injuries but there’s no conflict. Boxing’s like a martial art, hit and don’t get hit. It’s competition. God understands I’m just doing my job.’

The Jimmy Gill managed minister, who owns a BA (Hons) degree in Business Management and a Masters in Sport Psychology, has unleashed plenty of fire and brimstone inside the ring since first dipping between the ropes at the Phoenix ABC (alma mater to Carl Froch), aged 19.

‘Officially I only won 13 of my 19 bouts but, in reality, I only lost two. Let’s just say, there were a few mysterious decisions,’ claims Osaze who is now coached by ex-pros Barrington Brown and Mark Howell at the Dreams Come True (DCT) facility in Nottingham’s Hyson Green district.

‘But the amateurs was great experience. I attended a few England camps without winning a vest and was approached by Nigeria to try out for the 2016 Rio Olympic qualifiers but couldn’t make it.’

With God in his corner, dazzling Derrick is confident of scaling the sport’s highest peaks.

He states: ‘It’s my ambition to go all the way, to be world champion. I don’t want money, I want to achieve. In addition to Ultimate Boxxer, I’d like a title this year, maybe Area or English, then British, European…..

‘On May 10th, fans are going to witness the very best version of me, in the best possible physical condition.

‘The three round UB format will suit me because I always start fast. I’ve a counter aggressive style. I’m adaptable, can go front foot or back. I pose different challenges to every opponent, do whatever is necessary to win. Expect the unexpected!’

Osaze is one of five runners and riders who’ll be risking their unbeaten tag at the sizzling UB shootout – the other three entrants have each lost just once – but his faith is such that he is fearless of the competition.

‘I love the concept of all the best young prospects in a category coming together because it forces match-ups that wouldn’t be made outside such a tournament,’ concludes the middleweight minister.

‘I’m not into all the razzamatazz of unbeaten records. So many are padded. If you want to get somewhere in the rankings, you have to take risks, test yourself. This is ‘nothing to lose, everything to gain’. It’s a perfect launch pad that can provide great exposure.
