Integrated Sports Media Announces agreement to Distribute DAZN programming to U.S. commercial establishments

TENAFLY, N.J. (November 14, 2018) — Integrated Sports Media (ISM), one of the leading distributors of combat sports programming in North America, has announced it has a signed, exclusive agreement to distribute DAZN programming to commercial establishments in the United States.

ISM will be responsible for distributing DAZN programming in the U.S. to bars, restaurants, casinos and sports books.

“We’re thrilled to distribute DAZN programming in the U.S. market and help grow its reach across the country,” ISM president Doug Jacobs said. “We have a signed deal to distribute DAZN’s world-class combat sports programming like Golden Boy Promotions, Bellator MMA and Matchroom Boxing.”

DAZN’s recent groundbreaking deal with superstar Saul “Canelo” Alvarez to its live and on-demand services for his next 11 fights strengthens DAZN’s promise to revolutionize the way fans watch sports, as well as signals the beginning of the end for traditional pay-per-views events.

ISM is distributing its first DAZN boxing program on Saturday, December 15, showcasing Alvarez (50-1-2, 34 KOs), who will move up one weight class for his Madison Square Garden debut in New York City. Alvarez, who is a 3-time junior middleweight and 3-time middleweight world champion, will challenge WBA Super Middleweight World Champion Rocky Fielding (27-1, 15 KOs) in the 12-round main event.

The 28-year-old Alvarez, arguably the No. 1 pound-4-pound boxer in the world today, is already a boxing icon in his native Mexico, one of the true hotbeds in boxing today. The wildly popular Alvarez has defeated a Who’s Who list of boxers during his incredible 13-year professional career, including past or present world champions such as Gennady “GGG” Golovkin, Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr., Liam Smith, Amir Khan, Miguel Cotto, Erislandy Lara, Alfredo Angulo, Austin Trout, Shane Mosley, Kermit Cintron, Lovemore Ndou and Carlos Manuel Baldomir.

Fielding, 31, captured his WBA world title in his last fight, when he stopped previously unbeaten, defending champion Tyron Zeuge in the fifth round this past July in Australia. Fielding has also defeated world-class fighters such as Brian Vera, Noe Gonzalez Alcoba and Charles Adamu, among the more notables.

MANNERS: WARRINGTON WILL SHOW FRAMPTON HE’S THE DADDY

JOSH WARRINGTON sees double every day when he looks lovingly at his twin daughters, and now they are set to be the downfall of Carl Frampton.

Nick Manners who helps Warrington’s dad Sean O’Hagan train the IBF Featherweight champion believes the boxer’s daughters, played a major role in his shock world title win against Lee Selby in May – having been born weeks earlier.

And now it’s Frampton’s turn to feel the force of baby power, when Warrington (27-0) makes the first defence of his title at Manchester Arena on Saturday December 22, live on BT Box Office.

Manners said: “People say they say there’s a difference in fighters when they become world champions, but to tell you the truth I noticed the difference when Josh became a father before the Selby fight.

“That meant more to him than being a world champion. Being a Father with a world title in the offing that gave him serious drive before Selby.

“I saw something in Josh’s resolve in the weeks leading up to the Selby fight that really impressed me.”

Besides a five month training camp before Selby and becoming a dad for the first time, Warrington has also moved house with his family during preparations for his tough first defence against Belfast’s Frampton (26-1).

That means a nonstop 2018 with rest at a minimum.

Manners added: “We’ve talked about how busy he is away from the ring and we have discussed that, but sometimes you need distractions away from boxing.

“I’m glad the distraction isn’t pubs, women or this, that and the other. It’s things that are life and no matter what is going on in the boxing ring you still have a life to live.

“He trains diligently. He is a very hard worker and needs a distraction. Having his babies switches his mind off. Moving house is stressful but it is still a distraction from boxing.

“At one time we were begging for fights. Right now, we have them coming and from a champions point of view he wants to keep momentum going.”

Although most people cannot separate Warrington and Frampton when it comes to picking a winner, Manner believes his man hasn’t even scratched the surface.

He says: “What you saw against Selby is just a piece of what Josh Warrington is capable of.

“Given the opportunities what we are getting now, I think you’re gonna start seeing the best of the Leeds warrior.

“Josh Warrington is the real deal. He has so many attributes to him.

“I’m not saying he is a 10 out 10 fighter. I would put him at 7 1/2 or 8 out of 10, but that is enough to beat a lot of 10/10 fighters who may not apply themselves as diligently as he does.

“He wants to learn, he wants to improve, he’s not scared to take a challenge. This is a real live challenge.

“There are not many people who would want to fight Carl Frampton in their first defence, but we’re in it and here.

“Leeds should never have been the last place in Yorkshire to get a world champion, but for some reason we were.

“Sometimes the best things are worth waiting for and now we have a credible champion who ticks all the boxes.

“At the end of the day, Carl Frampton still has plenty left in the tank. He is a credible opponent for anybody.

“We’ve got to this level and we’re staying at this level.”

IBF world featherweight champion Josh Warrington takes on former two-weight world champion Carl Frampton at the Manchester Arena on December 22nd live on BT Sport Box Office.

Belfast’s blue chip featherweight prospect Michael Conlan (9-0) also features on the bill along with world flyweight title challenger Paddy Barnes (5-1) and unbeaten Light Heavyweight contender Steven Ward (9-0).

Tickets are priced at £50 Upper Tier, £80 Tier, £100 Tier, £150 Tier, £200 Floor/Tier, £300 Floor, £400 Floor, £600 Inner Ring VIP Hospitality and are available.

HRGOVI? FACES PEREA ON DECEMBER 8 IN ZAGREB

Filip Hrgovi? (6-0, 5 KOs) continues his World title charge on December 8 as the Croatian boxing sensation defends his WBC International title against Ecuador’s Ytalo Perea (11-3-2, 7 KOs) at the KC Dražen Petrovi? in Zagreb.

Hrgovi? secured the WBC International belt with a spectacular third-round stoppage win over Amir Mansour on September 8 at the Arena Zagreb, and the Rio 2016 Olympic Bronze Medallist has vowed to deliver another impressive performance as he returns to the Croatian capital for his maiden defence.

“I am pleased to have my next opponent confirmed,” said Hrgovic. “Perea is a good boxer with a strong amateur pedigree and I expect him to provide a tough test. He’s shared the ring with some good boxers and he’s never been stopped.

“I look forward to the challenge and I look forward to fighting again in Zagreb. With the support of the Croatian people, I believe I will reach the top of the heavyweight division, and I promise to deliver them another entertaining fight and a great victory on December 8 at the KC Dražen Petrovi?.”

Perea claimed gold at the 2011 Pan American games and defeated Dominic Breazeale and Simon Kean on his way to qualify for the London 2012 Olympics where he lost out to the Beijing 2008 Gold Medallist Roberto Cammarelle.

In the professional ranks, Perea has recorded eleven victories including seven knockouts, and has gone the distance with former World Champion Guillermo Jones and highly-rated Polish heavyweight Adam Kownacki.

“I am excited to come to Croatia to fight Filip Hrgovi?,” said Perea. “I have travelled the world fighting as an amateur so I have no fear facing him in his backyard. I have watched his fights and I know he’s a good boxer, but I’m confident I will win. He has never fought anyone like me before!”

Zeljko Karajica, CEO of 7Sports, the sports unit of the ProSiebenSat.1 Group and Managing Director of the operating event agency MMP Event GmbH, says fans should expect a ‘spectacular’ fight between the warring heavyweights.

“We’re delighted to announce Filip Hrgovi? versus Ytalo Perea for the WBC International title,” said Karajica. “This promises to be a spectacular contest and a great main event for our fight night at the KC Dražen Petrovi?”

Promoter Nisse Sauerland, of Team Sauerland, says he believes Perea can provide a stern test and an important victory for Hrgovi? as he looks to manoeuvre his heavyweight hope into World title contention.

“This will be another good step up for Filip,” said Sauerland. “Perea has an impressive amateur pedigree and has proven he can mix it at a high level as a professional. Filip is currently ranked top twenty with the WBC, WBO and WBA, and a victory on December 8 will further boost his World title credentials.”

The WBC International Heavyweight Championship contest between Filip Hrgovi? and Ytalo Perea will top an action-packed fight card at the KC Dražen Petrovi? on December 8 with a full undercard set to be announced.

Tickets start from 150 KN and are available online via www.eventim.hr. All the action will be broadcast live and exclusive on RTL in Croatia.

WARRINGTON SEES WEAKNESSES IN VALDEZ

JOSH WARRINGTON is dreaming of hitting the boxing jackpot in Las Vegas so his friends can have a week of partying.

The Leeds hero defends his IBF World Featherweight title against Belfast’s Carl Frampton (26-1) at Manchester Arena on December 22.

Promoter Frank Warren is lining up a unification fight next year against WBO champion Oscar Valdez for the winner.

If Warrington wins his first defence next month he wants it to take place in America. Warrington (27-0) is a huge ticket seller and would take thousands of fans if he boxed in the world’s boxing capital.

He said: “I would like to go to the United States – that gets me excited!

“It is for all my fans. After I beat Lee Selby, they were all asking me; ‘When is Las Vegas happening?’ They want an away day and an excuse to take a holiday..

“My boxing bucket list is unifying the division and to box there like a lot of the great fighters have.

“When I went to watch Carl fight Leo Santa Cruz in their Las Vegas rematch I made it my intention then that I wanted to fight there.”

Valdez says he wants the Warrington/Frampton winner and his promoter Bob Arum has discussed the clash with Warren, who promotes both boxers.

Warrington, 27, added: “Valdez is very exciting, a helluva talent, likes a scrap, known how to get guys out when they’re hurt but at the same time I have seen weaknesses.

“He gets caught pretty clean and sometimes uses his chin as his defence. He has beaten good names though and I wouldn’t take any credit away from him.

“Right now all I’m thinking of is Carl, and I’m sure he is thinking of me more than Valdez or any boxer.”

Warrington is still young enough to take his time in cleaning up the Featherweight division, but is in a rush to secure his legacy.

“When there is a chance to fight another champion you are going to grab that opportunity with both hands,” he explained.

“I am reaching my peak years. I’m fresh, I’m hungry, I’m determined. When you have momentum and confidence in yourself go for the big ones.

“Some fighters look at it like they have a chance to pad out their record and get some paydays under their belt.

“It is a short career and I don’t want to be boxing forever. If I can get the big fights one after the other I will take them.

“In my mid-career I was headlining Leeds Arena and I wasn’t fighting big names, but I was building myself up.

“Now it is the time to get big fights and all I want to do is be involved in them.”

IBF world featherweight champion Josh Warrington takes on former two-weight world champion Carl Frampton at the Manchester Arena on December 22nd live on BT Sport Box Office. JJ Metcalf will defend his WBC International super-welterweight title against Liam Williams in support of the main event, while Mark Heffron will challenge for the British middleweight title.

Belfast’s blue chip featherweight prospect Michael Conlan (9-0) also features on the bill along with world flyweight title challenger Paddy Barnes (5-1) and unbeaten Light Heavyweight contender Steven Ward (9-0).

Tickets are priced at £50 Upper Tier, £80 Tier, £100 Tier, £150 Tier, £200 Floor/Tier, £300 Floor, £400 Floor, £600 Inner Ring VIP Hospitality and are available.

Gilberto Ramirez-Jesse Hart 2 to Headline ESPN+ Card in Corpus Christi December 14

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (Nov. 13, 2018) – It was one of the best fights of 2017. WBO super middleweight world champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez had Jesse “Hollywood” Hart down and nearly out in the second round, only for Hart to come back with a furious late-rounds rally. Ramirez ultimately prevailed via unanimous decision that September evening in Tucson, Ariz., but Hart, the Philadelphia native with the legendary last name, had rematch on his mind immediately after the decision was rendered.

His wish has finally come true.

Ramirez will make the fifth defense of his world title against Hart, Friday, Dec. 14 at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas. Ramirez-Hart 2 and a soon-to-be announced co-feature will stream live and exclusively at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN+ in the United States— the new multi-sport, direct-to-consumer subscription streaming service from The Walt Disney Company’s Direct-to-Consumer & International segment in conjunction with ESPN. The entire undercard will stream live on ESPN+ beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET.

Promoted by Top Rank, in association with Zapari Boxing Promotions, tickets to the Ramirez-Hart 2 world championship event will go on sale Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 10 a.m. CST. Priced at $100, $65, $45, and $30, tickets may be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com, at the American Bank Center Box Office, Monday – Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. CST, or charge by phone at 1-800-745-3000.

“This will be a good fight. I feel better prepared than the first time and even more convinced that I will finish him,” Ramirez said. “I’ve always said that I wanted to be the king of the division. I’ve been waiting for unification fights, and I’m still patient. I’m at my best, and against Hart, I want to show why I’m the best.”

“I’m very grateful and humbled for this opportunity,” Hart said. “I just want to go out there and perform to the best of my ability. I have nothing derogatory to say about Gilberto Ramirez. At this point, I just want to go out there and perform.”

Ramirez (38-0, 25 KOs), the first Mexican-born super middleweight champion, will be defending the title he won from Arthur Abraham via shutout decision on April 9, 2016. A hand injury put Ramirez on the shelf until April 22, 2017, but he didn’t miss a beat, dominating Max Bursak en route to a unanimous decision victory. In his most recent outing, June 30 in Oklahoma City, Ramirez used his boxing skills to win a unanimous decision against Alexis Angulo. Ramirez, from Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico, is a nine-year pro who is no stranger to Corpus Christi. He headlined a show at the American Bank Center on Feb. 3, knocking out the previously unbeaten Habib Ahmed in the sixth round to retain his title.

Hart (25-1, 21 KOs), the WBO No. 1 contender, is a former amateur standout, winning the 2011 National Golden Gloves and U.S. National championships at 165 pounds. A 2012 U.S. Olympic alternate, Hart turned pro in 2012 and won his first 22 bouts prior to challenging Ramirez. Hart last fought as the ESPN co-feature Aug. 18 in Atlantic City, battering Mike Gavronski en route to a third-round stoppage. After more than a year of calling out Ramirez for a return match, Hart has his shot at redemption. A proud native of Philadelphia, Hart is the son of Eugene “Cyclone” Hart, a feared middleweight contender in the 1970s who never received a world title shot. With Eugene Hart in his corner as head trainer, Jesse Hart will seek to bring a world title home to the City of Brotherly Love.

SHIELDS: RANKIN WON’T STOP MY PATH TO UNDISPUTED

Claressa Shields is aiming for a punishing win over Hannah Rankin at the Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane KS, on Saturday night, live on DAZN – to continue her destructive path to being the undisputed World Middleweight champion.

Tickets are on sale now from ticketmaster.com starting at just $25! Click here to book!

Shields defends her WBA and IBF crowns against Rankin with the vacant WBC strap also up for grabs. The WBC crown was in the hands of Christina Hammer, whom Shields was slated to meet this weekend in a unification blockbuster for all four belts, with the German also owning the WBO belt.

Shields has brushed off the disappointment of not facing Hammer and the two-time Olympic Gold medalist has itchy knuckles in preparing to meet the Scot Rankin, who is in her second World title fight – with DAZN showcasing a third Women’s World title bout in it’s third US show following Lightweight World title wins for Jessica McCaskill in Chicago and Katie Taylor in Boston in October.

“I’m thrilled to be able to continue my road to undisputed this weekend,” said Shields. “Christina has first in line when I win the belt on Saturday, it’s not a fight that we are looking to avoid. If she’d been fit to face me then that would be the fight this weekend. I wanted that fight bad.

“I felt that when we did the phone interview and we announced that we were fighting, I sensed in her tone that something was wrong, that she wasn’t as excited as I was about the fight. She didn’t seem happy, and as a champion I sensed something was wrong and I was right as she was sick. As soon as she comes back, we can fight.

“Hannah has been Christina’s toughest sparring partner so I am going to make her pay just for that. It’s not a let down for me, just getting in the ring and being able to fight is a joy to me, it makes me happy. Hannah has turned down another fight to take this shot and we’re fighting as a co-main event on DAZN, so it should be fun.”

Shields is not content with dominance at 160lbs – and the Michigan ace can see a return to Super-Middleweight where Alicia Napoleon, who defeated Rankin in August to defend her WBA belt at 168lbs, is a target along with the other champions.

‘T-Rex’ is also open to dropping to Super-Welterweight and inviting Welterweight ruler Cecilia Braekhus to move up in a bout to crown the pound-for-pound number one in Women’s boxing.

“None of the girls at 168lbs want to fight me,” said Shields. “We’ve offered the fight to Alicia many times and fights to so many of them, they’ve all said I’m too big and they are too little, then they say we don’t offer good money – but we have TV and we’re offering good money for sure.

“Alicia just wants to stay unbeaten and protected, I can’t even name any other fighters that she’s fought other than Hannah as I wouldn’t be approved by the commission to fight some of those girls.

“I think I can go as low as 154lbs and I would do that to fight Cecilia for the pound-for-pound spot. I don’t want to go to 147lbs as I would only be able to win the fight and not go on to defend the belts. She can keep her belts, I just want the pound-for-pound spot – she can have the belts and be number two, I’m number one. We can meet at 154lbs, that would be huge.”

Shields’ clash with Rankin is part of a huge night of action in Kansas in association with KO Night Boxing with a host of stars and local talents in action.

Brooklyn’s Heavyweight star Jarrell Miller meets fellow unbeaten big-hitter Bogdan Dinu in a crunch clash at the top level of the division.

Middleweight contenders Luis Arias and Gabriel Rosado clash in what promises to be a real war as the pair look to gatecrash the lucrative top table, and there’s an all-Mexican clash and a homecoming for Brandon Rios against Ramon Alvarez, brother of ‘Canelo’’, as both men look to make a splash at Welterweight.

Team USA 2016 Olympic bronze medal man Nico Hernandez has raced to 5-0 (4KOs) – the Wichita talent fights for the third time in the Kansas Star Casino and Arena since debuting there in March 2017, unbeaten Wichita Super-Middleweight and police officer Manny Thompson looks to improve his 7-0 record and Las Vegas’ Jeremy Nichols meets Wichita’s Jeremiah Page at Middleweight.

Unbeaten Light-Heavyweight contender Anthony Sims Jr. and Brooklyn’s exciting newcomer to the Middleweight scene Nikita Ababiy, fresh from a first round KO on debut in Chicago earlier in the month are also in action.

Khan – Brook fight hits snags

A proposed fight between former world champions Amir Khan and Kell Brook has hit some contractual roadblocks, according to Dan Rafael of espn.com.

The biggest issue in finalizing a Khan-Brook deal, however, continues to be the weight and the prospect of a rehydration clause.

“The main problem is the weight,” promoter Eddie Hearn told ESPN. “Amir wants it at 147 and wants a 10-pound rehydration clause.”

“Brook says I’ll do it at 147 but if you make me weigh 147 then I’m not weighing in again,” Hearn said. “That’s fair enough. So we’re negotiating at the moment. The fight could take place in March. It could also take place in May. We could do it in Millennium Stadium in Cardiff (Wales). We could do it in the O2 (in London). If we go in May, there are stadiums we could do it in the outdoors.”

“Kell wants the fight real bad and he’s done the 10-pound thing many times for the IBF, but I do agree with him — if he makes the 147-pound limit, that’s it. Amir says that Brook has done the 10-pound thing before, but this isn’t an IBF title fight.”

On social media Monday, Brook made his feelings clear about the rehydration clause for the proposed fight with Khan.

“I’ll be clear for you,” he wrote to Khan regarding their ringside conversation on Saturday. “I said, ‘There’s no title on the line so no need for a rehydration clause.’ You’ve looked me in the eye now & told the world you want it, so let me take care of business (on Dec. 8) & let’s make the fight.”

WARRINGTON: BEST YEARS BEHIND FRAMPTON

JOSH WARRINGTON REJECTS the notion that his December 22 world title challenger Carl Frampton is back to his best.

The Jackal suffered the first defeat of his career against Leo Santa Cruz in January 2017 after becoming a two-weight world champion with victory over the Mexican in the previous July.

A period of inactivity followed before Frampton launched his bid to become world champion again with wins over Horacio Garcia, Nonito Donaire and Luke Jackson.

He strongly refutes the suggestion that his best years are behind him, but IBF world champion Warrington believes he has hit or is nearing his ‘best before’ date.

“I don’t think so,” responded the 27-year-old to the question of whether his 31-year-old challenger is in his prime years. “We’ll see on the 22nd and obviously he is going to train like a demon. He is going to come in there believing he is back to his best, but he has had a lot going on outside of boxing and had a bit of inactivity after the Santa Cruz fight.

“Alright, he had a short camp for the Horacio Garcia fight, but I don’t think he can take too much away from that. With Donaire he did what he had to do to win and I don’t think Luke Jackson posed too much of a threat.

“Something tells me he is just not the same Carl Frampton as he was.

“Has he lost a little bit of edge? I don’t know, but I do know that I am reaching my peak years.

“Before my last fight (against Lee Selby) I would have thought I would just be happy to win, but I came out of the ring thinking ‘who’s next?’. The fire is burning more than ever in the belly and I’ve worked hard to win this world title.

“Now I’ve got it I want to keep it and finish 2018 as champion with two massive wins. The first at Elland Road making history for the city of Leeds, my kids being born and now this could be the perfect end to my year.”

IBF world featherweight champion Josh Warrington takes on former two-weight world champion Carl Frampton at the Manchester Arena on December 22nd live on BT Sport Box Office. JJ Metcalf will defend his WBC International super-welterweight title against Liam Williams in support of the main event, while Mark Heffron will also be in action
.
Belfast’s blue chip featherweight prospect Michael Conlan (9-0) also features on the bill along with world flyweight title challenger Paddy Barnes (5-1) and unbeaten Light Heavyweight contender Steven Ward (9-0).
Tickets are priced at £50 Upper Tier, £80 Tier, £100 Tier, £150 Tier, £200 Floor/Tier, £300 Floor, £400 Floor, £600 Inner Ring VIP Hospitality and are available.

OKLAHOMA CITY (Nov. 12, 2018) – The “Red River Rivalry” — the pugilistic version — has kicked off. WBO junior welterweight champion Maurice Hooker, from Dallas, Texas, will defend his world title Friday evening against Oklahoma City native Alex Saucedo at the Chesapeake Energy Arena, home of the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder.

This will be the first title defense for Hooker (24-0-3, 16 KOs), who won the belt June 9 when he traveled to Manchester, England, and defeated Terry Flanagan via split decision.

Saucedo (28-0, 18 KOs) earned his first world title shot with a sensational, bloody seventh-round TKO against Lenny Zappavigna on June 30 at the Chesapeake Energy Arena.

The undercard, including the welterweight showdown between Egidijus “The Mean Machine” Kavaliauskas and Roberto Arriaza, will stream live at 6:30 p.m. ET on ESPN+ — the new multi-sport, direct-to-consumer subscription streaming service from The Walt Disney Company’s Direct-to-Consumer & International segment in conjunction with ESPN.

Hooker and Saucedo worked out Monday at the Azteca Boxing Club. This is what they had to say.

Maurice Hooker

“This is his first time in a world title fight, so he’s nervous. It’s his first big fight at home. A championship. I know he’s nervous.”

“I’ll tell you this. Don’t blink, because I’m coming.”

“I’m feeling good, feeling confident in myself. I’m ready to fight.”

Alex Saucedo

“Maurice Hooker is a champion for a reason. He’s a great fighter with a good reach and power in both of his hands. We have a tough fight on our hands, but we will be ready for anything that he brings to the table.”

“I’m going to show boxing fans the real me on Nov. 16. He can say what he wants about me getting hit a lot, but I don’t have any draws on my record. He says I’ve been hit a lot, but if you have three draws on your record, that means you’re not that hard to hit.”

“I am a different fighter than Terry Flanagan, who he won the title from. As always, I’m going to give it my all in the ring. I just want to beat him up and become the new WBO junior welterweight champion of the world.”
“Hooker’s fight with Flanagan. All I have to say is I’m a different fighter than Flanagan. On Friday, he will see the type of fighter I am.”

Promoted by Top Rank, in association with Roc Nation Sports and Matchroom Boxing USA, tickets for this world championship event are on sale now. Priced at $250, $150, $75, $50, and $35, tickets may be purchased at the Chesapeake Energy Arena box office, online at Ticketmaster.com, all Ticketmaster outlets, or by phone at 1-800-745-3000.

DIBELLA ENTERTAINMENT SIGNS TOP LIGHTWEIGHT CONTENDER EMMANUEL TAGOE

ew York, NY (November 12, 2018) DiBella Entertainment (DBE) has signed top lightweight contender Emmanuel “The Gameboy” Tagoe (29-1, 14 KOs), from the boxing rich city of Accra, Ghana, to an exclusive promotional contract.

A pro since 2004, Tagoe has accumulated a collection of title belts, including the IBF Inter-Continental super featherweight title, WBO Africa and WBA International titles at super featherweight and lightweight, as well as the IBO lightweight strap. He is currently ranked #12 by the IBF at lightweight.

Tagoe comes from a boxing family. His maternal uncle, Nana Yaw Konadu, is a former two-division and three-time world champion, having held the WBC super flyweight title and the WBA bantamweight title twice. Tagoe’s other uncle, the late Emmanuel Teiko Tagoe, was a renowned trainer in Ghana, having worked with Joshua and Emmanuel Clottey, Osumanu Akaba and Ossie Duran.

Despite his boxing background, Tagoe initially had no interest to enter the squared circle himself. However, he was adept with his fists, known locally as a skilled street fighter. His pro debut on June 19, 2004, came about as a fluke. Tagoe attended a boxing event with his uncle Teiko and an opponent for one of the fighters on the card, Lante Addy, didn’t show up. Though he had never trained before nor even laced on a pair of boxing gloves, a confident Tagoe offered to sub in for the missing fighter. He held his own until exhaustion set in and was stopped in the fifth round.

Tagoe was hooked, began to hone his craft and has won 29 fights in a row. The hard-hitting, popular African kicked off 2018 with a 10-round knockout of Fernando Saucedo on January 27 at the legendary Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra. At the same venue, Tagoe boxed beautifully to win a 12-round unanimous decision against former world champion Paulus Moses on October 20. He also has a win against former world champion Mzonke Fana in 2016.

With one exception, Tagoe has fought exclusively in his native country. He did secure a Stateside victory in August 2013, stopping Gerald Robles in nine rounds in Cabazon, CA, and is now determined to make a name for himself in the US.

“I’ve followed Emmanuel closely for a couple years and he’s gotten better with every fight,” said Lou DiBella, President of DiBella Entertainment. “I look forward to working with him toward his pursuit of a world title in the talented lightweight division. DBE is anxious to get started and will be announcing his return to the United States shortly. Accra, Ghana has produced a wealth of great world champions and we believe Emmanuel can be the next one.”

Included among the long list of world champions from Accra, Ghana, are Azumah Nelson, Ike Quartey, Joshua Clottey, Joseph Agbeko and David Kotei. Tagoe is trained by Adama Addy, who guided Agbeko to a world title.

Said the 29-year-old Tagoe, “The grass is greener where you water it. Wherever life plants you, you bloom there with grace. I am in charge of how l feel and today l am choosing happiness because DiBella Entertainment is my everything and they will take me to the promised land which is the world title.”

“Little by little, day by day, what is meant for you will find its way,” said Tagoe’s manager Abraham Neequaye. “A great attitude becomes a great day which becomes a great month which becomes a great year which becomes a great life. Be so happy that when others look at you they become happy too. DiBella Entertainment, we are very happy to be in your stable.”

Peter Kahn, who helped train Tagoe’s uncle Konadu while the fighter was stationed in Florida in the mid-nineties, has taken on the role as Tagoe’s advisor.

“I’m very excited to have Emmanuel Tagoe team up with DiBella Entertainment,” stated Kahn. “DiBella Entertainment is a perfect fit to guide Tagoe toward a world title and with the current landscape of the lightweight division, their stable and their ability to work well with other promoters, Tagoe is going to get his opportunity to fight for a world title. Ghana continues to produce elite level fighters and Tagoe is right in line with the best.”

Super Prospect Shoh Ergashev Brutalizes Ramsey with First-Round KO, Saturday in Chicago

Uzbekistani super lightweight Shohjahon “Shoh” Ergashev showed why he’s the new 140-lb fighter to watch in boxing last Saturday, November 10, at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, as he destroyed opponent Zack Ramsey in the first round.

The current WBA International Super Lightweight Champion, Ergashev (now 14-0, 13 KOs), tore into Ramsey from the opening bell of their scheduled six-rounder, dropping him within the first 15 seconds with a right hand and finishing it at 1:09 with a thudding body shot.

Fighting on the undercard of the World Boxing Super Series Cruiserweight Tournament doubleheader Ergashev elicited “oohs and ahhhs” from the crowd with his brutal display of force. Former unified super lightweight and current welterweight champion Terence Crawford was among the impressed onlookers in the crowd.

Ergashev’s promoter, Dmitriy Salita, says that in preparation for this fight, Ergashev had been knocking out heavyweights in the Kronk Gym where he trains.

“Shohjahon is one of the hardest punchers in any weight class,” said Salita. “His skills and physical strength make him not only one of the best in his division, but I believe one of the most exciting and powerful fighters in all of boxing.”

26-year-old Ergashev growls that he’s ready for anyone in the world.

“I want to fight the best names in the division and look forward to having an opponent that can last some rounds with me! I am coming!”

ONE: WARRIOR’S DREAM – 5 Reasons To Watch The Event From Jakarta

12 November, 2018 – Jakarta, Indonesia ; ONE Championship heads back to Jakarta, Indonesia for ONE: WARRIOR’S DREAM on 17 November.

In the main event, the undefeated Tyler McGuire will get his first opportunity to compete for a world title. He will take on Zebaztian Kadestam for the vacant ONE Welterweight World Championship.

The card has a number of angles and interesting matchups. Here are five reasons to watch the show.

Tyler McGuire’s Test

The 32-year-old American has never tasted defeat inside an MMA cage. McGuire’s record sits at 11-0 heading into his battle with Kadestam. By far, Kadestam represents the toughest bout in McGuire’s career. Kadestam is 10-4 as a professional and he’s known for his ultra-aggressive approach. This is a classic striker vs. grappler matchup that could tell us just how good McGuire can be in the long run.

A World Title Will Be Decided

We’ve talked about how McGuire-Kadestam could be a great matchup. Aside from the way the two men compare from a skill standpoint, they are competing for a legitimate world title. There are only 26 men and women across the sport who can claim to be a world champion. Whenever a real world title is on the line, true fans of the sport and martial arts should take notice.

The Nieky Holzken Debut

ONE Super Series Kickboxing has already delivered some exciting bouts and featured amazing martial artists. At ONE: WARRIOR’S DREAM, a true legend of the sport will make his promotional debut. Holzken has won multiple world titles in the sport across his 16-year career as a professional kickboxer. In the co-feature, Holzken will face Cosmo Alexandre in a rematch. Holzken won their first meeting back in 2010. The 34-year-old Dutch superstar will be looking to reaffirm his superiority over Alexandre.

Another Rematch

ONE: WARRIOR’S DREAM will be the site of another rematch. The battle between “Mr. Lightning” Lerdsila Phuket Top Team and Sok Thy will take place under Muay Thai rules. The two men faced off at ONE: PINNACLE OF POWER in June. It was a bout to remember. The competition was extremely close, but Lerdsila emerged victorious with a split-decision victory. Because of how close and entertaining the first meeting was, there was a reason to run it back. Between the two veterans, they have a total of 492 Muay Thai bouts.

The Next Step For Elipitua Siregar

Dominant wrestlers have perhaps the best base for mixed martial arts. One of the most promising martial artists on the scene who has a strong wrestling background is Indonesia’s own Elipitua Siregar. He’s only 21 years old, and he’s had just two professional mixed martial arts bouts, but he tallied a finish in both.

The product of Bali MMA is seeing a spike in competition at ONE: WARRIOR’S DREAM. He steps into the cage to face Pakistani veteran Muhammad “The Spider” Imran. If Siregar can be victorious, we may be seeing the maturation of Indonesia’s next martial arts superhero. Here is a look at the entire card from Jakarta:

Tyler McGuire vs. Zebaztian Kadestam (For Vacant ONE Welterweight World Title)

Nieky Holzken vs. Cosmo Alexandre (Kickboxing)

Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol vs. Angelie Sabanal

Pongsiri Mitsatit vs. Hayato Suzuki

Lerdsila Chumpairtour vs. Sok Thy (Muay Thai)

Zach Zane vs. Jimmy Yabo

Elipitua Siregar vs. Muhammad Imran

Egi Rozten vs. Eddey Kalai

Zhao Zhi Kang vs. Dae Hwan Kim

Eugene Toquero vs. Tatsumitsu Wada

Brown Pinas vs. Yohann Drai (Muay Thai)

Xie Chao vs. Bruno Pucci

Sullivan Barrera is a promotional free agent, targets all top light heavyweights

MIAMI, FLORIDA – Top light heavyweight contender Sullivan Barrera bounced back into the win column with a dominant decision victory earlier this month in New York. Barrera started off strong and won by the scores of 99-91 and 98-92 twice.

Along with the victory, Barrera also became a promotional free agent and is looking to get the biggest possible fights.

“I saw on social media that Badou Jack is looking for an opponent in January and that time table works perfect for me. I am sure the fans would like to see me and Jack trade punches,” Barrera stated.

The Cuban slugger holds victories over Joe Smith Jr, Vyacheslava Shabranskyy, and Felix Valera and has also been in the ring with champions like Andre Ward and Dmitry Bivol.

Barrera is driven to accomplish his goal of becoming a world champion and will not stop until he fulfills his destiny.

“At this point in my career I only want to fight the best. I have always wanted to be a champion and I will accomplish my dream. I want to fight the Adonis Stevenson-Olesandr Gvozdyk winner, the Eleider Alvarez-Sergey Kovalev winner, Jack, Artur Beterbiev. Those are the guys I want. There are no excuses for these fights not to happen. I don’t have a promoter so any of these fights should be easy to make,” said Barrera.

“Beating Monaghan got me back on track. I was able to work on some things in the gym and I promise that the next time I get a shot at a world title I will win. I am just reaching my peak and the fans haven’t seen my best yet.”

MILLER: I WANT TO BEAT A BRIT!

Jarrell Miller is targeting a huge showdown against a British Heavyweight in 2019 as he prepares to face Bogdan Dinu at the Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane, Kansas on November 17, live on DAZN.

Tickets are on sale now from ticketmaster.com starting at just $25! Click here to book!

Miller meets Dinu in a crunch clash for the division, with the big punching duo putting their unbeaten records and lofty ranking spots on the line with the Heavyweight scene set to explode in the coming months.

Deontay Wilder defends his WBC title against Tyson Fury on December 1 while division ruler Anthony Joshua returns to Wembley Stadium in London on April 13 to put his IBF, WBA and WBO straps on the line.

Dillian Whyte faces Dereck Chisora on December 22 in a rematch in London, with Whyte aiming to seal another rematch, this time with old foe Joshua, but Miller would love to get his hands on the ‘Body Snatcher’ as he hunts down a big scalp to announce himself at the very top level.

“I have to beat a Brit – if I do that, a lot will change. When you are high risk, low reward, people will make excuses not to fight you and the fans will buy into it.

“I am not afraid of Dillian – I’m afraid of no man. If AJ is not ready to face me with a title, then I’ll go and whoop Dillian’s butt. It’ll help my profile in Britain.

“He’s a clown, nobody is afraid of him. He’s got a win over Lucas Browne and that’s it. For him to call people punks, he’s deluded, I’ve fought three World title contenders back to back. He turned down Mariusz Wach twice and he didn’t really want to fight Duhaupas, he’s naive.

“I rate him as a fighter, he throws punches and wins – he’s a top guy now because since he got his block knocked off by AJ they’ve built him the right way. When he gets in the ring with me, watch how he changes, watch how the whole ‘I’m the Body Snatcher, I walk guys down’ stops.

“He couldn’t walk down a 230lbs Joseph Parker, so you’re going to walk me down, 300+lbs behemoth that throws 80 punches a round? I haven’t even thrown my right hand in my last few fights for a reason, so when I really start clocking these guys, then people will see.

“The big fights take some maneuvering and finessing, so building my profile, winning the regular title and getting into a mandatory spot is going to help me in that situation. I think I will definitely be in a spot to have an AJ or Deontay Wilder fight later in the year, so I need to get this win in Kansas and stay busy, focused, injury free and ready.

“Bogdan is aggressive but that’s against guys that want to survive. He’s never fought someone like me, who is going to be the aggressor in the fight. He’s light and he’s not a heavy puncher, and I’m going to be coming forward, throwing bombs and mixing it up, it’s going to be completely new to him. He’s going to try to move against me, everybody does, but then they all end up running for their lives – and they can only run for so long.”

Miller’s clash with Dinu is part of a huge night of action in Kansas in association with KO Night Boxing with a host of stars and local talents in action.

Two-weight World ruler Claressa Shields who looks to add the WBC Middleweight strap to her WBA and IBF crowns against tough Scottish challenger Hannah Rankin.

CONLAN EYES FUTURE WARRINGTON CLASH

MICHAEL CONLAN has two jobs in one night next month – making it a perfect ten as a professional and gathering some intelligence on possible future opponent, Josh Warrington.

Conlan (9-0) boxes on the undercard when Warrington (27-0) risks his IBF Featherweight crown against Carl Frampton (26-1) at Manchester Arena on December 22.

Belfast’s Conlan is widely expected to fight for a world title inside 18 months, but it won’t be against Frampton because they are close friends. Warrington is in his firing line.

Conlan said: “A fight against Josh is something I can see happening and it is going to be some fight between him and Carl.

“Another reason that I’m intrigued in the fight is that it’s a scouting mission for me.

“Win or lose, I would love to face Josh Warrington in the future. Carl and myself are friends so that won’t happen, but I am definitely keeping an eye on Josh.

“If Josh loses he is still going to come again because he is young enough, hungry, determined, fit and would have the ability to become world champion again if he loses.”

Conlan’s promoters Top Rank are steadily moving him up in class and by this time next year he’s likely to be fighting top operators like Warrington.

The 2015 world amateur champion added: “I would feel confident even though I rate Josh as a fighter. His style is one I love to face and one that brings out the best in my style of boxing.

“He is the same age range as me, has the ability to win more world titles and someone I watch.”

Tickets available via Manchester-Arena.com

Framer to defend 130 lb. title against Fonseca on Canelo – Fielding card

IBF Junior Lightweight champion, Tevin Farmer will defend hist title against Francisco Fonseca on the Canelo Alvarez – Rocky Fielding card on December 15th at Madison Square Garden.

“Terms have been agreed to on both sides,” Farmer’s promoter Lou DiBella said.

“Three world title fights in 4½ months — that’s what Tevin wants to be doing and he’s getting the opportunity,” DiBella said. “Beterbiev coming off the card created an opportunity for Tevin. The last fight with Tennyson, he came out with no wear and tear and this is something Tevin wanted to do and an opening was created. I’m thrilled he will get the opportunity to fight at the Garden on the Canelo card, and it’s not too far from home for him so his fans can come out to see him. I think this is a pretty cool situation.”

“Fonseca had a fight canceled and he was already in training so this is a good situation,” DiBella said.

Bellew took the early ;ead by landing some nice right hands on Usyk, who seemed to be biding his time to figure out Bellew.  Usyk started to come on in the middle rounds and got his vaunted jab working.

Clearly with the momentum in his favor, Usyk continued to break down Bellew until he landed a crushing left that sent Bellew crashing back first over the bottom rope.  Bellew got to his knees, but the fight was waved off at 2:00.
