This is a bout for the fans, and I can’t wait to perform in front of my hometown crowd in Manila once again. I have complete respect for my opponent’s skills and together with my brothers at Team Lakay, my coach Mark Sangiao, I’m preparing to showcase the best version of Eduard Folayang on 10 November.”

Martin Nguyen, ONE Featherweight World Champion, stated: “New Years’ will be coming early this year, because in this fight there will definitely be fireworks. The real winner of this bout will be the fans at the Mall of Asia Arena.”

Eduard “Landslide” Folayang of the legendary Team Lakay in Baguio City is one of the Philippines’ most experienced martial artists. After nearly a decade of competing in various promotions, Folayang has amassed an impressive 18-5 professional record. The 33-year-old veteran is currently riding a four-bout winning streak against high-profile opponents, including an emphatic technical knockout victory over Japanese legend Shinya Aoki to capture the ONE Lightweight World Championship in 2016. Showcasing a highly-improved wrestling and grappling arsenal, Folayang thoroughly defeated top challenger Ev Ting in his first title defense last April. Now set to return to the ONE Championship cage in Manila, Folayang will face ONE Featherweight World Champion Martin Nguyen in a cross-divisional showdown.

28-year-old Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen of Sydney, Australia, is a highly-skilled finisher and one of the most talented featherweights in martial arts. In his most recent bout, Nguyen stepped into the ONE Championship cage last August, scoring the biggest victory of his career when he stopped former undefeated featherweight champion Marat “Cobra” Gafurov in Macao to capture the ONE Featherweight World Championship. Sporting a 9-1 professional record, Nguyen’s all-around skill set allows him to compete at the highest level of competition. In a much-anticipated battle between division champions, Nguyen is set to face the Philippines’ Eduard Folayang in Manila.

World Boxing Super Series Debuts in the U.S. This Saturday, September 23 as Yunier Dorticos vs. Dmitry Kudryashov Cruiserweight Quarterfinal Headlines Exciting Night at the Alamodome in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO (September 18, 2017) – World Boxing Super Series action will hit the United States for the first time this week as the Yunier Dorticos vs. Dmitry Kudryashov quarter-final showdown lights up the ring this Saturday, September 23 from the Alamodome in San Antonio.

This will be the third straight week of WBSS quarter-final action after Callum Smith impressively got the super middleweight tournament underway by dropping and beating previously unbeaten Erik Skoglund Saturday in Liverpool. The tournament kicked-off in spectacular fashion one week prior to that with unbeaten star Oleksandr Usyk delivering a TKO victory Marco Huck in Germany in the first cruiserweight quarter-final.

Perhaps the most anticipated fight of the quarter-finals, Saturday’s main event pits the WBA champion Dorticos against the Russian knockout artist Kudryashov. The two men have combined for 41 knockouts over their 42 pro victories and will each look to emphatically punch their ticket to the WBSS semi-finals.

The Dorticos vs. Kudryashov winner will face the winner of the quarter-final matchup between IBF champion Murat Gassiev and former champion Krzysztof Wlodarczyk that was recently announced for Oct. 21 in New Jersey. With a shot at title unification on the line, the stakes are sky high as the competitors vie to be the fighter left holding the Muhammad Ali Trophy next year.

Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by Ringstar Sports in association with World Boxing Super Series, are priced at $250, $125, $100, $50, and $30, and are on sale now. Tickets are available at ticketmaster.com.

Fans in the U.S. can stream the WBSS action live by signing up at WorldBoxingSuperSeries.com on fight night. Make sure to follow the WBSS on all of your social platforms for updates from fight week and fight night.

The September 23 event will also feature a reserve match between once-beaten cruiserweights Keith Tapia and Lateef Kayode, while former world champion Nonito Donaire returns to take on Mexico’s Ruben Garcia Hernandez.

Jose Roman Defends 10-Fight Winning Streak Friday Night in Ontario, CA

ORANGE, Calif. (Sept. 18, 2017) – In Thompson Boxing Promotions’ “New Blood” main event, junior welterweight Jose Roman (24-1-1, 16 KOs) of Garden Grove, Calif. puts his 10-fight winning streak on the line against Wilberth Lopez (18-8, 13 KOs) of Tucson, Ariz. in a bout scheduled for 8-rounds.

The five-bout show takes place on Friday, Sept. 22 from the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, Calif.

Roman is among the most seasoned talents in the junior welterweight division. Having previously sparred against world championship stalwarts such as Ruslan Provodnikov and Tim Bradley, Roman enters his scrap against Lopez well equipped to extend his winning streak.

“I feel great going into next week’s fight,” Roman said. “I’m coming off a win in July and look forward to extending my winning streak against Lopez.”

Lopez, on the other hand, will aim to get back on the winning track after suffering a unanimous decision loss against unbeaten, world ranked challenger Alex Saucedo in May.

In the “New Blood” co-feature, unbeaten welterweight Juan Ruiz (19-0, 12 KOs) of Venezuela is matched against Mexico’s Erick Martinez (13-8-1, 7 KOs) in a fight set for 8-rounds.

Ruiz made his Thompson Boxing debut last October and since then has knocked out his last two oppoents.

“The plan is to start fast and end it early,” Ruiz said. “That’s what has worked recently and I don’t expect to change the plan.”

As far as the “New Blood” undercard, it is riddled with top-end prospects: featherweight Ruben Villa (7-0, 4 KOs), junior lightweight Michael Dutchover (5-0, 4 KOs), and lightweight Ruben Torres (1-0, 1 KO) all put their undefeated marks on the line.

Villa, 20, fights out of Salinas, Calif. and will face veteran Ernesto Guerrero (26-19, 18 KOs) of Mexico in a fight set for 6-rounds. Villa, a talented southpaw with impeccable amateur credentials, is entering the next phase of his development by getting matched against experienced competition.

“I welcome the challenge,” said Villa, who is co-promoted by Thompson Boxing and Banner Promotions. “As a young boxer, you need these types of experiences so you can measure your progress.”

Dutchover, 19, of Midland, Tex. meets Carlos Flores (4-5-1, 3 KOs) of Mexico in a 6-round scrap.

Dutchover went the distance for the first time as a professional in his last fight against the once-beaten Miguel Carrizoza. Next Friday night, the Texas native, who has relocated to the Los Angeles area, plans to start a new knockout win streak.

“You never go searching for a knockout, but that is always the goal in any fight,” Dutchover said. “The less work and less punishment you endure, the better you are for it.”

Dutchover is signed with Thompson Boxing and Banner Promotions.

Rounding out the five-bout card is Torres, who made his professional debut on a Thompson Boxing card in August. The 19-year-old battles an opponent to be named later (4-rounds).

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. local time with the first bout at approximately 7:45 p.m. The Doubletree Hotel is located at 222 N. Vineyard Ave. in Ontario, CA 91764 and can be reached at 909-937-0900.

“New Blood” is presented by Thompson Boxing Promotions and sponsored by Lucas Oil, in association with Everlast.

Top Rank Donates 500 tickets to Sept. 22 Valdez vs. Servania / Ramirez vs. Hart Championship event at Tucson Arena to “Dreamers”

TUCSON (September 18, 2017) – In support of the thousands of young immigrants that could be affected by the termination the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, boxing promotional company, Top Rank®, led by Hall-of-Fame promoter Bob Arum, will donate 500 tickets to “Dreamers” in Arizona to attend the September 22 world championship event headlined by unbeaten Mexican world champions ÓSCAR VALDEZ and GILBERTO “Zurdo” RAMIREZ. Valdez and Ramirez are considered by many experts as the future of the boxing rich country of Mexico, and they will defend their respective featherweight and super middleweight world titles in action-packed bouts.

“Top Rank wants to make it clear that we stand in solidarity with the Dreamers. We are ashamed of the way they are being treated by the Administration in Washington. Americans are way better than this,” said Arum.

“To me it is a great honor to be able to be a voice that can bring light to this issue and defend those that are in need and don’t have someone that will stand up for them. I have family members that are in danger of being deported over the decisions taken by our government against DACA. I will not stand around and watch silently. I completely support this initiative taken by Top Rank and I want everyone to know that we will stand together and we will fight for what is right,” said Valdez.

To claim their tickets to the Valdez vs. Servania / Ramirez vs. Hart card, the “Dreamers” should bring their Employment Authorization Card to the Tucson Convention Center Box Office starting Tuesday September 19 during regular box office hours and for as long as supplies last.

Televideo are one of the world’s leading outside broadcast and facilities companies who work with a number of premier sports TV broadcasters including Sky Sports, BBC and Eurosport.

In addition, Televideo have been the host broadcaster for major stand-alone events including World Championship boxing, England v Kazakhstan World Cup qualifier, the 2013 Rugby League World Cup, the ISU World Speed Skating Championships and the FINA Diving World Series.

MURRAY: ‘I’LL WIN IN STYLE AGAINST FAGAN

London (18 September 2017) Joe Murray says he will back up his fighting talk, when he appears on a huge night of boxing in his home city of Manchester on September 23.

Joe, brother of former world title challenger John, takes on Matty Fagan in a British lightweight title eliminator at the Manchester Arena; part of a stacked undercard to Joseph Parker’s WBO world heavyweight title fight against Hughie Fury, exclusively live on YouTube (www.youtube.com/pakerfury)

“I’m really looking forward to it,” said the 30-year-old. “Before this fight, I’ve been moaning saying I wanted to be on the big shows, and what’s better than a massive Manchester show. I’ve never boxed at the Arena, although I’ve seen great fights there like Ricky Hatton versus Kostya Tszyu, and I’ve watched my brother there against Anthony Crolla. So, I’ve always wanted to box at the Arena, it’s always been a dream of mine to fight in front of my home crowd in a massive stadium.”

Former Olympian Murray, has lost just twice in 23 contests, both times at super-featherweight to Liam Walsh. In 2013, Walsh defeated Joe on points, before finishing him in five rounds in a 2015 British title fight. Since those losses, Murray has regrouped at lightweight and now faces Fagan for a crack at the Lonsdale Belt. Current domestic champ Robbie Barrett meets challenger Lewis Ritson on October 7, but Joe says he has the beating of either of them.

Before any thought of Barrett or Ritson, ‘Genius’ Murray has to successfully negotiate the challenge of former sparring partner, Fagan. The Ellesmere Port man has his own ambitions to get to the top, and will be buoyed by fighting on such a big stage. With just two defeats in 13 dust-ups, one of them coming to former British super-featherweight ruler Gary Buckland, Matty has earned this eliminator, and his battle with Murray could well be fight-of-the-night.

“I’ve got to put on an exciting performance against Matty,” said Murray. “I’ve been doing a lot of talking, and the only way I’m going to get the big fights made is by putting on a good performance and backing up what I’m saying. This fight isn’t just about winning for me, it’s about looking good and winning in style.

“I’m taking nothing from our previous sparring. I believe in my own ability. When we turn up we can all be different fighters anyway, and when you have the 8oz gloves on it’s totally different. I believe I’m better than Matty Fagan though, and better than most lightweights around. I’m going to go in there and put a show on.

“I think Ritson will have the edge over Barrett, but I’d be happy to fight either of them. I don’t think the lightweight division is that strong at the moment anyway, and I just want to fight the winner and then move onto bigger things. If Crolla beats Ricky Burns then I’d absolutely love an all-Manchester fight against him in the future.”

The WBO World Heavyweight Championship between Joe Parker v Hughie Fury headlines an action-packed card that also feaures: The Vacant WBO Intercontinental Super-Welterweight Championship between Jimmy ‘Kilrain’ Kelly v Stiliyan Kostov; The British Bantamweight Championship Josh Wale v Don Broadhurst; The British Lightweight Championship Eliminator Joe Murray v Matty Fagan. Plus Peter McDonagh v Shayne Singleton in a 10 Round Super-Welterweight Contest, backed up top talents: Ryan Farrag, Yusuf Safa, Lyndon Arthur, Jake Kilganoon, Jack Cullen, Mickey Ellison, Lee Carter and Alex Dickinson.

Parker v Fury is exclusively live on YouTube for £14.99 in the UK and €16.99 in the Republic of Ireland until midnight. Go to www.youtube.com/parkerfury for booking information.

HBO Replay of Canelo vs. GGG set for Saturday, Sept. 23

HBO Sports presents WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING: CANELO ALVAREZ VS. GENNADY GOLOVKIN, the exclusive replay of their highly anticipated showdown, SATURDAY, SEPT. 23 at 10:00 p.m. (ET/PT). The HBO Sports team, which was ringside at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas for the live HBO Pay-Per-View® presentation on Mexican Independence Day, called all the action, which will be available in HDTV, closed-captioned for the hearing-impaired and presented in Spanish on HBO Latino.
The fight will also be available on HBO NOW, HBO GO®, HBO On Demand® and affiliate portals.
In the sport’s top matchup of 2017, middleweight champ Gennady “GGG” Golovkin put his title belts and undefeated record on the line against his arch-rival, superstar Canelo Alvarez, who despite having just turned 27 has emerged as a box office powerhouse and one of the sport’s elite fighters. Their 12-round fight took place under the bright spotlight of the T-Mobile Arena.
Complementing the exclusive replay on HBO will be two live bouts from Inglewood, CA next Saturday night as Jorge Linares and Luke Campbell — in a lightweight title fight– headline the card from the venerable Forum.

Gennady Golovkin is ready for Canelo encore

LAS VEGAS, NEV. (Sept. 17, 2017) — Boxing’s No. 1 superhero and undefeated WBC/WBA/IBF/IBO Middleweight World Champion GENNADY “GGG” GOLOVKIN (37-0-1, 33 KOs) successfully defended his titles Saturday night, scoring a controversial draw against lineal and Ring magazine Middleweight World Champion and Mexican icon Canelo Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs). Golovkin, boxing’s longest-reigning world champion, who has been middleweight champion since 2010, made his 19th consecutive title defense – one short of the all-time record.

The fight took place in front of a crowd of 22,358 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. HBO Sports will present the exclusive replay of the exciting battle This Saturday! Sept. 23, at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT, on World Championship Boxing. The fight replay will also be available on HBO NOW, HBO GO®, HBO On Demand® and affiliate portals.

“Of course I want the rematch, said Golovkin. “Real Mexican style fighters do not run from best fight, from history fight.”

“To paraphrase Gennady, this was a big drama score,” said Golovkin’s trainer Abel Sanchez. “Gennady and Canelo treated us to a great event. It’s a shame they didn’t get the definitive result they deserved. It was a close fight. I thought Gennady won. You don’t win fights backing up all night.”

“There is no question that Gennady won the fight,” said Tom Loeffler, Golovkin’s promoter. “Because the world was watching and the media was covering, this time, what happens in Vegas won’t stay in Vegas. Saturday’s HBO replay will show that. There are no issues to doing a rematch. I just hope it takes Canelo and Golden Boy less time to do it than it did to make this fight. Enough drama, let’s get them back into the ring. Gennady is a true champion. He runs from no one.”

Niall Kennedy wins controversial decision versus defending champion Alexis Santos to capture New England heavyweight title

MASHANTUCKET, CT (September 16, 2017) – Undefeated Irishman Niall “Boom Boom” Kennedy won a controversial 10-round split decision versus defending champion Alexis Santos to capture the New England heavyweight championship in last night’s (Saturday) main event of Broadway Boxing held in Fox Theater, at Foxwoods Resort Casino, in Mashantucket, CT.

The Broadway Boxing series is promoted by DiBella Entertainment and presented by Nissan of Queens, Azad Watches, OPTYX, and Christos Steak House. Last night’s show, which was streamed by FightNight LIVE on Facebook, was promoted in association with Murphys Boxing.

Kennedy (9-0, 5 KOs), fighting out of Galway, Ireland, by way of Boston, battled Santos in a competitive, action-packed brawl to be awarded the N.E. title by scores of 96-93, 96-93, 93-96. The majority of fans in attendance, outside of Kennedy’s Irish supporters, and the ringside media felt that Santos, from Lawrence, MA, had the edge and deserved the decision.

Referee Al LoBianco deducted a point from Santos in the ninth round for a highly questionable low blow and failed to rule a knockdown when it appeared the ropes kept Kennedy upright in a tremendous last round surge from the Dominican American.

In the co-featured bout, former world champion Shelly “Shelito’s Way” Vincent (20-1, 1 KO), of Providence, RI, defeated former world title challenger Angel “Non-Stop” Gladney (9-13-1, 6 KOs) in a junior lightweight match. The colorful Vincent was the aggressor throughout the fight, effectively cutting off the ring, outboxing and walking down Gladney for a lop-sided eight-round unanimous decision (80-72, 80-71 twice).

Shelly Vincent (L) outclassed Angel Gladney

Rising Connecticut welterweight star “Marvelous” Mykquan Williams improved his record to 8-0 (4 KOs), pitching a complete shutout in an impressive six-round unanimous decision (all 60-54) win over a much more experienced and considerably taller Evincii “Prize Fighter” Dixon (7-20-2, 2 KOs). Williams is a 19-year-old from East Hartford who is a freshman at Manchester Community College.

Mykquan Williams (L) cruised to another victory

2012 Ukrainian Olympian Ievgen “The Ukrainian Lion” Khytrov (15-1, 13 KOs), fighting out of Brooklyn, bounced back from his only pro loss with a near shutout eight-round decision victory (80-72 twice, 79-73) over his always tough super middleweight adversary, battle-tested veteran Derrick “Superman” Finley (27-22-1, 18 KOs).

“It was different when I first started training after a loss,” Khytrov said after the fight. “I started to think more and work on my defense; to fight much smarter instead of just brawling, throwing punches, like I did before my loss. I came the US four years ago from a small country that’s not rich to become a world champion. I feel I’m back on the right track.

Ievgen Khytrov (R) bounced back with a solid win

Hot New England junior welterweight prospect Adrian “Tonka” Sosa (5-0, 4 KOs) stepped up in class against Mexican Francisco “El Mono” Medel (11-10, 7 KOs), and remained undefeated by displaying his overall game, offensively and defensively. Fighting out of Lawrence, MA, the 2014 N.E. amateur champion Sosa dropped Medal with a straight right in the first round, a sneaky body shot in the second and finished him off in the third with a crisp right to the temple as referee Al LoBianco immediately halted the action.

Pro-debuting welterweights Nicky DeQuattro (1-0, 1 KO) and Timothy Wheeler (0-1) engaged in a street fight from the opening bell until DeQuartro, fighting out of Johnson, RI, connected with an overhand right that dropped his New York City rival. Moments later, DeQuattro unleashed a four-punch combination that dropped Wheeler for a complete 10-count.

The night started with a barnburner as former Irish amateur standout Ray Moylette (6-0, 2 KOs) kept his undefeated pro record intact but it certainly wasn’t easy. Moylette overcame a second-round knockdown, coming back strong in the second half of the fight to take a six-round split decision versus game junior welterweight Donte Bryant (1-3-1, 1 KO).

Heated weigh-in between regional rivals sets the stage for epic 12-fight card Saturday at Twin River

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Sept. 15th, 2017) — Fireworks are expected tomorrow night at Twin River Casino as several regional showdowns take center stage on CES Boxing’s latest showcase, the fifth event of 2017 as New England’s No. 1 promotion continues its year-long 25th anniversary celebration.

Headlining Saturday’s event is reigning World Boxing Council U.S. Boxing Council (WBC USNBC) Welterweight Champion Jimmy Williams (14-0-1, 6 KOs) of New Haven, Conn., in his second title defense, battling New Jersey’s Juan Rodriguez Jr. (13-4, 5 KOs), in a 10-round bout, but the preliminary card is can’t-miss television, especially the four-round super featherweight showdown between Providence’s Michael Valentin (1-0, 1 KO) and New Bedford, Mass., newcomer Henry Garcia.

The war of words began during the post-weigh in staredown and escalated when Garcia’s trainer, “Sucra” Ray Oliveira Jr., spoke during the press conference, eyeballing Valentin directly, which prompted the 18-year-old Valentin to fire back from his seat in the crowd.

Cooler heads prevailed, but the stage has been set for what should one of several intense battles on tomorrow’s preliminary, one of 12 total fights. In the heavyweight division, Californian Matt McKinney (5-2-2, 2 KOs) flew nearly 3,000 miles to face what will be his toughest test to date against hard-hitting Sicilian Juiseppe Cusumano (12-1, 10 KOs), who fights for the third time since June.

McKinney acknowledged this is the kind of fight “you need to win to climb that ladder” and is confident he can end 2017 on a positive note; he is 3-0 this year, which includes a win over previously unbeaten Jay McFarlane in New York on the Gennady Golovkin-Danny Garcia undercard.

Doors open at 5 p.m. ET Saturday and the first bout begins at 5:45. The FIGHTNIGHT LIVE stream begins at 7.

Tickets are priced at $47.00, $102.00, $127.00 (VIP) and $152.00 (VIP) and can be purchased online at www.cesboxing.com, www.twinriver.com or www.ticketmaster.com, by phone at 401-724-2253/2254 or at the Twin River Casino Players Club. All fights and fighters are subject to change.

As for the main event, Rodriguez seeks redemption after losing to Nick DeLomba in his Twin River debut in 2015. As he stepped off the scale at a lean 145 pounds Friday, he stood toe-to-toe Williams and proclaimed the reigning champion’s infamous green belt “mine” during a spirited staredown. Williams is on a roll, having won his last 10 bouts, including his first title defense in August against Issouf Kinda.

Tomorrow’s after party will be held at Murphy’s Law in Pawtucket, R.I., where fans can watch the Pay Per View showdown betweenGolovkin and Canelo Alvarez live from Nevada. Combo tickets for both the live event at Twin River and the after party are available for $55, while separate after party tickets are on sale for $30 at the door.

Worcester, Mass., junior welterweight Jamaine Ortiz (5-0, 2 KOs) returns to face Cleveland’s Darnell Pettis (1-5) in a four-round bout. Tomorrow’s event also features a six-round junior middleweight battle between New Bedford, Mass., vet Ray Oliveira Jr. (7-1, 1 KO) and Meriden, Conn., native David Wilson (5-1-1, 1 KO), plus unbeaten Worcester middleweight Kendrick Ball Jr. (7-0-2, 5 KOs) returns for the 10th time in just 16 months when he battles Durham, N.C., vet Pablo Velez Jr. (7-1-1, 5 KOs) in a six-round bout.

Featherweight Jonathan Perez (2-1-2, 2 KOs) of Lawrence, Mass., battles unbeaten Providence native Ricky Delossantos (2-0) in a four-round bout and Stoughton, Mass., welterweight Travis Demko (4-1, 1 KO) faces fellow Massachusetts native Marqus Bates (2-1, 2 KOs) of Taunton, also in a four-round bout.

Providence, R.I., lightweight Anthony Marsella Jr. (5-0, 2 KOs) in his fifth Twin River appearance, faces 20-fight vet Israel Rojas (12-18, 4 KOs) of Sonora, Mexico in a six-round bout and Groton, Conn., bantamweight Marcia Agripino (1-0-1) ends a four-year layoff when she faces New York vet Federica Bianco (2-1, 1 KO). Here is what Barrios had to say heading into his September 19 showdown:

On his recent training camp with Virgil Hunter in California…
“Right now, we are finishing up the final days to training camp. All the sparring is complete and I’m 100% healthy going into this fight. My weight is good and Virgil and I have been working harmoniously since he became my lead trainer a few fights back. This will be our fourth fight together and I’m learning a lot, especially with my jab. The improvement will be evident when I step into the ring on fight night.”

On facing Naim Nelson in his hometown…
“In this sport, sometimes you have to go into someone’s backyard, and battle them on their home turf. I know he’ll have a lot of his fans in attendance, but that has no effect on me and my game plan. My goal is to go into this fight, set the pace from the opening bell and come out victorious. By the end of the night, everyone in the building will have respect for me.”

On fighting in the main event on FS1 and FOX Deportes…
“It’s great to be fighting on FS1 and FOX Deportes once again, especially in the main event. The exposure I get from fighting on a national stage like this is great for my career. I’m just grateful to my team and everyone involved who put this fight together. I always shine on FS1 and Fox Deportes, and this fight is not going to be any different. I’m ready to take my career to the next level.”

On fighting at super lightweight for the fourth time in his career…
“The move to 140 pounds has be a tremendous blessing to my career. I feel really strong and I can see myself fighting at this weight class for a few more years. My body is filling out just fine and my power is coming up with me.”

Rojas stops Marrero in 7

LAS VEGAS–Jesus Rojas scored a sensational 7th round stoppage over Claudio Marrero to retain his WBA Interim featherweight title at the Marquee Ballroom inside the MGM Grand.

It was an action filled fight with Rojas getting the better of the exchanges with powerful combinations on the inside.

In round seven, Rojas landed a booming left hook in the corner that sent Marrero to his back. Marrero looked like he wanted to beat the count, but he stayed on his knees and was counted out at 2:59.

Rojas of Caguas, PR is 26-1-2 with 19 knockouts. Marrero of Santo Domingo, DR is now 22-2.

“I’m super happy and super emotional,” said Jesus Rojas. “I want to thank Roberto Diaz and the entire Golden Boy team, my family and my kids. This is the joy of many years of sacrifice and many fights that have been taken from me. I promised my father that I would get a title one day, and even though he is no longer with, my promise to him is complete. We knew that he [Marrero] was going to be aggressive and we purposely worked on our counterpunching, and that was what did the trick.”

Ryan Garcia needed just 30 seconds to destroy Miguel Carrizoza in their scheduled ten-round super featherweight bout.

In the opening seconds Garcia floored Carrizoza with a straight right. Carrizoza got to his feet but ate a perfect left hook to the head and the fight was stopped.

Garcia of Victorville, CA is 11-0 with ten knockouts. Carrizoza of Nogales, MEX is 10-3.

“I am just happy!,” shouted Ryan Garcia. “When I took the fight, I actually thought it might be a bit challenging since he had never gotten knocked out. Within seconds of the bout starting, I realized that the guy wasn’t going to touch me. Hopefully now with this title I’ll be able to take on some even tougher fights!”

Damon Allen remained undefeated by winning an eight-round unanimous decision over Jayro Duran in a

In round two, Allen was deducted a point for hitting low.

That was the only blemish for Allen, of Philadelphia took every round and won by scores of 79-72 on all cards to raise his mark to 13-0-1. Duran of San Pedro sula, HON is 10-3.

“This is just another win to add to my record,” said Damon Allen. “I brought the most ring savviness, power, and control into the fight. I felt like the referee kept interrupting my rhythm, and kept calling my body shots low blows and I still lost a point for it. This is my third fight this year, so I hope I get to fight again in December for a title.”

Horacio Garcia stopped Duhul Olguin in round four of their scheduled eight-round super bantamweight bout.

In the fourth round, Garcia dropped Olguin with a hard right hand. Garcia finished off Olguin with a hard left hook that was punctuated with a left to the head. Olguin fell to the canvas as referee Robert Byrd stopped the bout at 44 seconds.

Garcia of Guadalajara, Mexico is now 33-3-1 with 23 knockouts. Olguin of Guadalajara, Mexico is now 11-8-2.

“I’m very happy,” said Horacio Garcia. “I’m very grateful for all the people, the fans who support the Mexican fighters, Golden Boy Promotions, and my team. I really wanted to fight him [Garcia] again because I know that the first time there were things that happened that didn’t allow me to go into that fight well. But today the hard work was carried out well.”

Alexis Salazar won a six-round unanimous decision over Even Torres in a middleweight bout.

Salazar of Tiaquepaque, MEX won by scores of 60-54, 59-55 and 58-56 and is now 12-3. Torres of El Paso, TX is 6-5.

“My performance was okay tonight – I wasn’t as explosive as I wanted to be,” said Alexis Salazar. “I wish I would have paid more attention to my corner, I could have gotten the knockout. My opponent was able to put a lot of pressure, and he never got tired. Training with Canelo was such a privilege – I was able to learn what it takes to be a champion.”

CANELO ISSUES CHILLING WARNING TELLING GOLOVKIN HE WILL SHOW HIM ‘HOW A TRUE MEXICAN FIGHTS’ AS HE VOWS LONG REIGN AS MIDDLEWEIGHT WORLD CHAMPION

LONDON (15 September) – Canelo Alvarez has warned Gennady Golovkin he will show him how a true Mexican fights, as he vows to reign supreme over the middleweight division.

Speaking exclusively to BoxNation, who will broadcast the fight live in the UK on BoxNation Box Office for just £16.95, the Mexican superstar said the time for talking is over after weighing-in for his superfight with middleweight kingpin Golovkin.

But after both men hit the scales bang on the 160-pound mark Canelo told BoxNation that he is raring to go and will capture the Kazakh knockout king’s WBC, WBA, IBF and IBO world titles.

“I’m ready to go! The talking has been done, we have weighed-in and now it is about getting in the ring and fighting. I’m ready to show how a true Mexican fights,” said Canelo.

“I am going to give the fans a special fight – a real fight. I am ready for him and whatever he comes with. If he wants to stand toe-to-toe I will not back down. However he wants to fight I am ready.

“This is the fight boxing wanted and now it is here. I am ready to reign at the top of the middleweight division for a long time,” Canelo told BoxNation.

35-year-old Golovkin goes into the ring as the naturally bigger man but Canelo has shown his world-class ability by already claiming the accolade of being a two-weight world champion.

To claims that Canelo is going knock him out, ‘Triple G’ was quick to fire back and said he still has a long time left in the sport.

“Let’s see on Saturday if he is going to knock me out. I’ve been a champion a long time,” said Golovkin.

“In boxing every day is difficult and dangerous. Right now I feel great. Everything’s good. My family and my team support me. I feel very comfortable. I want to box for five years more – maybe until 40,” he said.

Taking place during the Mexican Independence Day holiday this weekend, fans have been streaming into Las Vegas from all corners for a fight that Golovkin has promised will produce fireworks when it gets underway at the sold-out T-Mobile Arena.

“This is our Mexican Independence Day holiday weekend gift to boxing and to boxing fans. The fans have been asking for this fight for years. We are going to give a great battle,” Golovkin said.

“I am very excited to be finally fighting in Las Vegas, but I am more excited that it is against Canelo. The energy will be off the charts.

“Let me repeat – this is a fight boxing can be proud of,” said Golovkin.
