Douglas, who is coming off a fourth round stoppage of Les Sherrington on November 6th in Las Vegas, that took place on Showtime’s acclaimed, ShoBox: The New Generation.

WFC INKS 5th CASINO DEAL FOR 2016, EXPANDS TO PENNSYLVANIA

WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA – December 7, 2015 – World Fighting Championships has signed a three-fight agreement with Pennsylvania’s The Meadows Racetrack and Casino, and will make its East Coast debut on April 9th in the first of three shows at the Pittsburgh-area venue in 2016.

The standout boxing & MMA crossover promotional company has turned heads in both sports with consistently delivering quality, sold out events to boxing fans and casino customers in Nevada, Oregon, California and Louisiana.

WFC’s President, Matt McGovern, who is known for his no-nonsense, organized and tech-savvy approach to promoting boxing, is looking to establish a presence in the Pittsburgh area to rival that which he’s established in Louisiana, where he’s promoted 17 events at the Belle of Baton Rouge. “I will be looking to sign fighters in the Pittsburgh area,” said McGovern. “We want to make that our home, just as we’ve done with Baton Rouge, and we’re looking forward to getting to know the local boxing community there.”

The Meadows Racetrack and Casino, which hosted its first boxing event in 2014, boasts high-end dining, state of the art gaming, and some of Pennsylvania’s most prestigious horse races. “The Meadows has been really wonderful to work with so far,” said McGovern. “We had multiple offers from gaming properties in the area, but the one thing that stood out was the GM and Marketing Director’s knowledge of boxing in general, and specifically boxing in that area. They are going to be a phenomenal partner for World Fighting Championships.”

It has been a pivotal year for the growth of WFC, which is looking at possibly doubling the number of events it promotes in 2016. With 20 events already on the books for next year, McGovern foresees a shift in the ratio of boxing to MMA events that it hosts. “2015 has seen a lot of changes in the boxing industry. I think these changes will actually work in our favor, and I see us promoting more boxing events in the coming year than we did in 2015 and in prior years.”

Tickets for the promotion’s first East Coast are priced at $100, 50, and 25, and go on sale Monday, December 7th, at wfcfights.com.

MASTERNAK: BELLEW’S TRASH TALK WON’T WORK ON ME

HBO Boxing After Dark Weigh-In: Adonis Stevenson vs Tony Bellew
Mateusz Masternak aims to prove he is ready to rule the World by beating Tony Bellew and reclaiming the European Cruiserweight title on Saturday (December 12) at The O2 in London, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

The Polish puncher is currently enjoying a new lease of life since teaming up with renowned German coach Ulli Wegner, as evident from his WBA Intercontinental title winning performance against Carlos Nascimento in September, and now, the 28 year old believes the time is right for him to make his mark at elite-level starting with a statement win against Bellew.

“Of course this is an important fight for me,” said Masternak. “This is a chance for me to test myself against one of the best fighters in the division and prove to everybody that I’m ready to fight for the World title.

“Bellew is a World-class opponent and I know it will be a tough test. He can punch, he can box and he always fights with a lot of heart, but his style suits me well, and my team and I have chosen the perfect game plan to beat him. I will be like his shadow – staying one-step and one-punch ahead of him at all times. If he thinks this will be an easy fight, he is mistaken.

“The European title is very important and prestigious belt, and now that I’m older and have more experience, I appreciate its value much more. This is a fight I have to win. I will give it my all and not stop until my hand is raised. I believe this will be the fight of the night, and once it’s over, everyone will know the name Mateusz Masternak.”

Ahead of their Cruiserweight clash, Masternak has warned Bellew not to attempt any trash talking, advising the 33 year-old to ‘save his strength’ for the ring.

“I’ve seen Bellew try to intimidate his opponents before but I’m sure he’s clever enough not to attempt this with me,” says ‘The Master’. “This sort of empty aggression and trash talking has no effect on me. Instead of trying to fight me at the press conference or the weigh-in, Bellew should save his strength, because he will need it in the ring!”

Masternak’s clash with Bellew is part of a huge night of action at The O2, topped by Anthony Joshua MBE taking on bitter rival Dillian Whyte for the British and Commonwealth Heavyweight titles.

Chris Eubank Jr and Spike O’Sullivan meet in a final eliminator for the WBA World Middleweight title, Kevin Mitchell meets Ismael Barroso for the WBA Interim Lightweight title with the winner facing newly crowned WBA supremo Anthony Crolla, Josh Warrington defend his WBC International Featherweight title against Jorge Sanchez, Joshua’s fellow Olympic gold medal hero Luke Campbell MBE defends his WBC International Lightweight title against Yvan Mendy and Paulie Malignaggi challenges Gianluca Branco for the European Welterweight title.

BUFFER READY TO RUMBLE FOR ‘FIGHT FANS DREAM NIGHT OF BOXING’

Michael Buffer is heading to London to introduce a huge night of action at The O2 on Saturday night, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

The Hall of Fame MC returns to the Greenwich venue to call the fighters to the ring for the huge Heavyweight showdown between Anthony Joshua MBE and Dillian Whyte, and the WBA World Middleweight title eliminator between Chris Eubank Jr. and Spike O’Sullivan.

Buffer will also introduce the main event fighters at Friday’s weigh-in at The Indigo O2 before a stacked bill thrills the sold-out arena – and the American cannot wait to take his ringside seat for the night.

“Once again, I am looking forward to visiting London and another great evening of world-class boxing at The O2,” said Buffer. “I was looking at the list of fights and it may be one of the most solid line-ups from top to bottom I’ve ever seen. There’s the two British Olympic gold medallists Anthony Joshua MBE and Luke Campbell MBE along with standouts, Chris Eubanks Jr., Tony Bellew, Kevin Mitchell and Paulie Malignaggi. This is a fight fan’s dream night of boxing.

“The headliner of course is Heavyweight Anthony Joshua as he takes on the undefeated Dillian ‘The Villain’ Whyte in a twelve rounder for the vacant British title along with AJ’s Commonwealth belt. This is going to be Joshua’s toughest opponent to date. It’s a matchup of power punching big men and each will tip the scales at around 240 plus pounds.

“Everyone tells me Whyte has no fear and he’s been on a knockout binge himself with eleven straight wins inside the distance. Of course, we all know about Joshua’s pro record which is a rampage of 14 wins, all by KO, in his 14 pro fights. I don’t think this fight will disappoint the fans as most believe it won’t go the final bell. We just need a referee that will count to count to ten.

“With Tyson Fury now holding the World Heavyweight title, this fight figures to give the winner an inside track to what must be considered an eventual monster all British contest for the most prominent championship in all of sports. The thought of that boggles the mind.

“A personal highlight, for me, will be seeing my cast mate from the movie Creed, Tony Bellew. The fans are going to love him in that movie as he is prominently featured and turns in a great performance.

“This will my first chance to introduce Chris Eubank Jr. and as I’ve known his dad for so long it’s going to be a real treat as he faces Spike O’Sullivan in battle of top tier Middleweights.”

Joshua vs. Whyte and Eubank Jr. vs. O’Sullivan head an action packed bill in London.

Kevin Mitchell meets Ismael Barroso for the WBA Interim Lightweight title with the winner facing newly crowned WBA supremo Anthony Crolla, Liverpool Cruiserweight favourite Tony Bellew faces Mateusz Masternak, Josh Warrington defend his WBC International Featherweight title against Jorge Sanchez, Joshua’s fellow Olympic gold medal hero Luke Campbell MBE defends his WBC International Lightweight title against Yvan Mendy and Paulie Malignaggi challenges Gianluca Branco for the European Welterweight title..

HYUSEINOV IS NEXT STOP FOR INDIAN EXPRESS SINGH

Indian superstar Vijender Singh steps up in experience when he takes on Samet Hyuseinov on December 19 at the Manchester Arena.

Unbeaten Singh has steamed through his first two professional opponents, beating Sonny Whiting in his debut in October and followed that up with a one round demolition of Dean Gillen in Dublin last month.

The 30-year-old hot-shot now takes on Bulgaria’s experienced Hyuseinov for his third pro fight as he continues on his quest to become India’s first ever professional world champion and end the year undefeated.

Whereas Whiting and Gillen had a combined record of five fights, Hyuseinov has 14 fights under his belt, winning seven fights and losing seven, with a total of 68 rounds and extending a number of prospects the distance.

“This is another important fight for me that I must win so the pressure is on,” Said Singh.

“I’m unbeaten and intend to stay that way going into next year where I am looking at my first title fight so I’m not letting Hyuseinov mess up my plans to get my first championship belt,”

“While I got rid of Whiting and Gillen early, I’ll have to see what Hyuseinov brings to the ring on the night. If I feel that I can take him out early I will go in for the early knockout and get the job done nice and quick,”

“He’s very experienced though and with 14 fights and 68 rounds he’s got the advantage over me in that department. It’s a step up for me though and if I can deal with him before the end of the four rounds then I know that I’m improving.”

However, bolshy Hyuseinov has threatened to stop the Indian Express in his tracks and inflict the first loss on his record.

“Singh has never, never met anyone like me and he will realise what it is like with a real professional on the 19th December,”

“How can he look to fight for titles next year when he’s only had two fights and four rounds? He thinks that I’m some fool he’s going to just knock over easily,”

“I will take great delight in handing Singh his first loss and sending him back home to India beaten and broken. In fact I will tell you what I will do to him, I will smash him to the body to loosen him up and then a right hand to knock him out, just watch me.”

Frank Warren’s end of year title extravaganza ‘X-Mas Cracker’ is headlined by two massive world title showdowns with WBO World Middleweight Champion Andy Lee defending his title against Billy Joe Saunders and WBO World Super-Welterweight Champion Liam Smith making his first title defence against Jimmy Kelly. A staggering SIX further titles are on the line with Mitchell Smith defending his WBO Intercontinental Super-Featherweight title against George Jupp; Paul Butler challenges for the Vacant WBO European Super-Flyweight Championship against Silvio Olteanu; Tommy Langford defends his WBO Intercontinental Middleweight Championship; Commonwealth Super-Welterweight Champion Liam Williams and Kris Carslaw clash with the Vacant British title also on the line; Jack Catterall defends his WBO Intercontinental Super-Lightweight Championship, and Tom Stalker and Craig Evans clash again for the Vacant WBO European Lightweight Championship. The undercard features Merseyside favourite Joe Selkirk in a six-round contest, Indian superstar Vijender Singh, Anthony Yarde and top Manchester prospects Jack Flattley and Dale Coyne, plus Razza Hamza.

Culcay calls out Lara following interim WBA World title defence

Jack Culcay retained his interim WBA World Light Middleweight title with a unanimous points decision against the previously unbeaten Dennis Hogan last night at the Inselparkhalle in Hamburg, Germany.

A solid performance from Culcay proved too much for Hogan, who despite his best efforts was outclassed by the German fighter who landed the cleaner and more decisive punches.

After twelve entertaining rounds, ‘Golden Jack’ was ahead 119-109, 117-112 and 116-112 on the judges’ scorecards earning the 30 year-old a first defence of his WBA interim strap and edging him closer to a shot at ‘regular’ Champion Erislandy Lara.

‘’It was a good fight,’’ said Culcay. ‘’Hogan was a tough opponent and pushed me over the distance. Looking back, there are a few things I could have done better, but overall, I was pleased with my performance. Now, I want to fight Lara for the World title!’’

Coach Ulli Wegner was impressed by his protégé. ‘’The boy is technically the best boxer we have in Germany,’’ said Wegner, who then expressed his belief that Culcay can join the World’s elite. ‘’I have no doubt Jack can become a World Champion. I believe he is ready to face Lara now.’’

Promoter Kalle Sauerland offered some clarity on the situation. ‘’The WBA Convention takes place this month in Panama,’’ he said. ‘’Here, it will be decided when Jack has the chance to fight Lara for the World title.’’

On an undercard stacked with heavyweight stars, Kubrat Pulev scored a first–round knockout win over American Maurice Harris, Dereck Chisora stopped Peter Erdos in the fifth-round of his promotional debut and Swedish prospect Adrian Granat claimed his tenth victory against British veteran Michael Sprott.

LOWEN TYNANES DEFEATS RASUL YAKHYAEV AT ONE: KINGDOM OF KHMER

5 December 2015 – Phnom Penh, Cambodia: The largest sports media property in Asian history, ONE Championship™ (ONE), delivered another evening of world-class mixed martial arts action to an arena packed full with raucous fight fans. ONE: KINGDOM OF KHMER made a successful return to the Koh Pich Theatre to feature ten thrilling bouts, capped off by a spectacular main event that had fans on the very edge of their seats. In the main event, Lowen Tynanes defeated opponent Rasul Yakhyaev by Rear Naked Choke to stamp his claim as one of the best lightweight talents in ONE.

In the main event of the evening, Lowen Tynanes of Ewa Beach, Hawaii scored a third-round submission victory over Russia’s Rasul Yakhyaev to extend his unbeaten streak to eight wins and no losses. The first round had the fighters sizing each other up with various grappling moves. In side control, Tynanes started to connect with overhand rights. A testy second round witnessed increased striking rates and ended with the Hawaiian landing a couple of well-timed kicks to a downed Yakhyaev. Tynanes then took full control of the third, utilizing his wrestling and grappling technique to subdue the Russian on the ground, sinking in a deep choke to force the tap.

In the co-main event, Malaysia’s Gianni Subba improved his MMA record with a split decision win over Thailand’s Anatpong Bunrad in a flyweight match that never once went to the ground. Subba showed icy composure as he weathered a storm of kicks from Bunrad and landed a series of highly accurate punches and elbows that had Bunrad’s nose bleeding heavily from the second round. In the end, Subba did just enough to earn the judges’ nod, moving him closer to a title shot.
Indonesia’s Mario Satya Wirawan made ONE Championship history, scoring the fastest knockout ever recorded after dispatching Cambodia’s Chan Heng in just 6 seconds of their bantamweight bout. Wirawan’s very first punch put Chan on his back, and the follow-up head kick gave referee Olivier Coste no option but to call a halt to the bout contest.

Cambodian judo expert Meas Meu collected another impressive victory in the ONE Cage with a first-round TKO stoppage of bantamweight Chan Sam Art. Meas started out hard and fast to stagger his rival, at one point picking Chan up and dumping him onto the canvas before dominating the ground exchange with a barrage of blows. The referee jumped in to wave off the contest shortly after.

Sim Bunsrun battled through adversity in an energetic flyweight clash against fellow Cambodian, Khon Sichan. Both fighters’ striking skills were in full display early on, but as the fight went to ground, Bunsrun started to connect with heavy elbows. With Sichan starting to lose control of the match, Bunsrun moved to secure an armbar submission, forcing the tap out with just five seconds remaining in the first round.

Indian female atomweight Jeet Toshi earned a hard-fought unanimous decision victory over Cambodia’s Tharoth Sam. Toshi came close to a finish in the first round through strikes and an armbar submission, but ‘Little Frog’ Tharoth escaped to bring the crowd to their feet with an inspirational comeback in the subsequent round. Toshi controlled the ground game well in the third, with Tharoth barely making it through to the final bell.

Cambodian fighters Sor Sey and Chim Chetra put on a superb show in their featherweight battle that saw them go all out from the opening bell. An explosive first round had both men connecting with hard fists, elbows and knees throughout. The high intensity was matched in the second, as Sor Sey began to exert dominance on the ground, moving to top position and forcing a referee stoppage due to strikes just over a minute into the round.

Veteran Kun Khmer fighter Mission Ali went up against the youthful tenacity of fellow Cambodian featherweight Rin Saroth in the night’s second match up. As soon as the bell sounded, the contest quickly went to the ground, with Saroth executing a textbook armbar submission to earn the victory.
Eh Ya Nut and Vy Srey Chai kicked off ONE: KINGDOM OF KHMER with a battle between two emerging Cambodian female flyweights. A tentative opening round was followed up by a stronger showing in the second, with both fighters scoring knees in the clinch and trading strikes on the ground. In the closing round, fierce exchanges pumped up the crowd as Vy Srey Khouch received the victory by split decision.

Nemkov decisions Puetz in exciting rematch Recaptures M-1 Challenge light heavyweight title

ST. PETERSBURG, Russia (December 4, 2015) – In a much anticipated rematch, Viktor Nemkov recaptured the coveted M-1 Challenge light heavyweight title, winning a hard-fought five-round decision over defending champion Stephan “T-800” Puetz, in the M-1 Challenge 63 main event, at the Sports and Concert Complex in St. Petersburg, Russia.

In the co-feature, M-1 Challenge middleweight champion Ramazan Emeev successfully defended his crown, as American challenger Luigi “The Italian Tank” Fioravanti was unable to continue after four rounds.

M-1 Challenge middleweight champion Ramazan Emeev retained his title

Undefeated in four previous M-1 Global fights to date, Puetz (13-2-0, 5 KO/TKO, 4 SUB) captured the M-1 Challenge title 1 ½ years ago with an entertaining five-round split decision over defending champion Nemkov, who was making his first title defense after having defeated Vasily Babich (SUB2 – arm-lock) two years ago for the vacant title.

Puetz came into his rematch with Nemkov off a sensational SuperFight victory this past May against M-1 Challenge heavyweight champion Marcin Tybura, whose severely broken nose halted the action in the third round at M-1 Challenge 57.

Kazakhstan-native Nemkov, who fights out of Stary Oskol, Russia, had won two straight fights since he lost to Puetz, of Germany, including an impressive decision in his last action over always tough Maro Perak.

Two-time M-1 Challenge middleweight champion, Emeev (13-3-0, 3 KO/TKO, 6 SUB) is a native of Dagestan who fights out of Makhachkala, Russia. He first won the M-1 Challenge championship in 2012 at M-1 Challenge 35, taking a decision from Mario Miranda, who Emeev defeated four months later by third-round knockout at M-1 Challenge 38. At M-1 Challenge 51, Emeev was stopped in the fourth round by Vyacheslav Vasilevsky, who lost the title back to Emeev by fifth-round submission this past April at M-1 Challenge 56.

Fioravanti (26-14-0, 10 KO/TKO, 7 SUB), representing American Top Team, is a popular fighter out of Orlando, Florida. He was coming off a second-round win by submission (choke) last July against Sergey Kovalev at M-1 Challenge 59.

Georgian light heavyweight Raul Tutarauli (6-2-0, 5 KO/TKO, 1 SUB) registered a huge upset, knocking out Russian Alexey “Ataman” Makhno (10-4-0, 4 KO/TKO, 1 SUB) in the second round.

Russian light heavyweight prospect Rashid Yusupov (7-0-0, 2 KO/TKO, 2 SUB) remained undefeated, taking a three-round unanimous decision from German foe Martin “King Kong” Zawada (26-14-1, 16 KO/TKO, 5 SUB)).

Unbeaten featherweights Mikhail Korobkov (9-0-1, 1 KO/TKO, 6 SUB), of Russia, and Brazilian invader Rodrigo Magalhaes (7-0-1, 0 KO/TKO, 6 SUB) fought to a three-round draw.

Ruslan Shamilov (1-0-0) stopped Bulat Zhumabatov (0-1-0) in the second round (doctor’s stoppage) in a Super Cup St. Petersburg match between Russian middleweights.

Also fighting on the preliminary card, Russian middleweight Vasily Zubkov (9-4-0) won a hard fought three-round split decision from pro-debuting Uzbekistan-native Sarvar Iskhakov, fighting out of Russia, Russian welterweight Damila Prikaza (2-0-1) stopped experienced Ukrainian Artem “Shockwave” Shokalo (13-14-0), and Russian featherweight Mikhail Kuznetsov (5-1-0) defeated Ukrainian opponent Stanislav “White Warrior” Reutsky (8-5-) by way of a rear naked choke for a second-round submission.

A SOLD-OUT LA FIGHT CLUB CLOSES OUT 2015 WITH AN EXCITING NIGHT OF GREAT MATCH-UPS

LOS ANGELES (Dec. 4, 2015) – A sold-out LA FIGHT CLUB had all the fans cheering on some of their favorite fighters tonight at the Belasco Theater with the headlining debut of undefeated power-puncher, Christian “Chimpa” Gonzalez (11-0, 10 KOs). Also in attendance enjoying the night’s festivities was Oscar De La Hoya, Chairman and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, newly crowned WBC Silver Featherweight Champion, Ronny Rios, and Golden Boy Promotions fighters, Julian “El Camaron” Ramirez, Roy “Pit Bull” Tapia, Jesus Soto Karass, and Johnathan Navarro. Noe Ramirez from the Boston Red Sox and actor and comedian Johnny Skourtis were also in attendance cheering on some of Los Angeles’ most talented up-and-coming fighters.

Christian “Chimpa” Gonzalez (12-0, 11 KOs) thrilled in an exciting eight-round super featherweight main event fight against the tough Alejandro Ochoa (7-10-2, 1 KOs) of Bell Gardens, Calif. The two fighters clashed in the center of the ring, exchanging combinations from the opening bell. Gonzalez was able to land hard shots that stunned Ochoa in the first round, but the brave Ochoa recovered and landed some hard shots of his own. Midway through the second round, Gonzalez caught Ochoa with a clean uppercut that sent Ochoa to the canvas. Ochoa was able to meet the count and tried to finish the round, but after several shots from Gonzalez, the referee stepped in to end the fight. “Chimpa” continues his knockout streak with a second-round technical knockout victory.

“ I had been training hard and focusing on landing shots like that uppercut that put him down. I knew the body shots I landed early in the fight had a lot of effect and I saw him breathing out of his mouth. The body shots set up my uppercut,” said Gonzalez.

“I prepared for this fight as I would any other fight despite his reputation for having a lot of power. I don’t think his punches bothered me as much as the referee thought and I would have liked to continue, but I will learn from my mistakes and keep improving,” said Ochoa.

In the co-main event of the evening, Rosemead, Calif. transplant Oscar “El Jaguar” Negrete (12-0, 5 KOs) met Ernesto Guerrero (17-17, 1 KOs) of Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico in an eight-round super bantamweight fight live on Estrella TV. Negrete controlled the action throughout the fight, landing quick combinations and displaying excellent speed. Negrete landed a hard body shot in the third round that sent Guerrero to the canvas. Guerrero answered the count but looked very hurt by the body shot prompting the referee to call a halt to the bout awarding Negrete a third-round technical knockout.

“I had been studying for another opponent but due to a last minute change, I had to come in and figure out a whole new opponent. My trainer deserves a lot of credit because we prepared for another fighter but we were still able to come up with a plan and execute it. It’s great to end 2015 on such a high note and I can’t wait to start 2016 with the same momentum,” said Negrete.

Opening the live broadcast on Estrella TV, Ivan “Striker” Delgado (8-0-1, 2 KOs) of Los Angeles took on Luis “Lichito” Lizarraga Jr. (5-7-1, 2 KOs) of Meridad, Yucatan, Mexico in a six-round lightweight bout. “Striker” Delgado came out sharp landing crisp, hard combinations to the head and body of Lizarraga Jr. Throughout the fight, Delgado was able to consistently land his left hook and right hand to the head of Lizarraga Jr. Despite a valiant effort from Lizarraga Jr., Delgado dominated the action and was awarded a unanimous decision victory.

“I wanted to show fans that I can box and I can counterpunch as well. I have been training hard and am looking forward to starting 2016 off strong after this victory,” said Delgado.

Nick Arce (6-0, 6 KOs) of Los Angeles kept his undefeated record intact in a scheduled six-round super featherweight bout against Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico’s Ali Gonzalez (6-7-1, 1 KOs). Cheered on by his legion of fans from LA’s Westside Boxing Gym, Arce caught Gonzalez with a right hand to the chin early on in the first round, dropping him to the canvas. Gonzalez met the count and was able to survive the round. The second round was a tactical affair with both men circling and looking for openings. After suffering an injury in a clinch with Arce, Gonzalez dropped to the canvas and was unable to continue, giving Arce a win by second round technical knockout.

“I wasn’t expecting to win this way. I knew that my opponent was a tough fighter, and I would have to close the distance with my reach. I’m looking forward to taking some time off and enjoying it with my family after this win,” said Arce.

Continuing the Ring TV’s live stream, rising star Emilio Sanchez (11-0, 8 KOs) of Los Angeles faced Juan “Juanito” Hernandez (4-2, 1 KOs) of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico in a six-round super bantamweight fight. The two fighters traded shots in the middle of the ring from the opening bell. With a minute left to go in the first round, Sanchez caught Hernandez in between a combination with a monster left hook that sent Hernandez tumbling to the canvas. Hernandez attempted to meet the count, but the referee called a halt to the bout. Sanchez was declared the winner via first round technical knockout, adding another knockout victory to his knockout-heavy resume.

“I had been working on strength training and really liked how it impacted me this fight. I was able to break him down bit by bit with my body shots and then eventually catch him with my hook,” said Sanchez.

Opening up the Ring TV’s live stream, San Antonio’s Joshua Franco (3-0, 2 KO’s) met Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico’s Leonardo Reyes (3-9-1, 1 KOs) in a six-round super flyweight match. Franco came out aggressively, dropping Reyes in the first round. Rising to meet the count, Reyes attempted to finish the round but was overwhelmed by Franco who landed a sustained barrage of punches forcing the referee to stop the fight, awarding Franco the win by first round technical knockout

“I was conditioned and ready to fight a longer fight. Our strategy was to break him down, but it came sooner than expected and I’m thrilled to have gotten the win. He came out swinging but I have always been able to keep my composure and stick to the game plan and it worked out great” said Franco.

LA FIGHT CLUB: Gonzalez vs. Ochoa was an eight-round super featherweight bout presented by Golden Boy Promotions and sponsored by Corona Extra. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. and the first bout began at 5:30 p.m. The Estrella TV Boxeo Estelar broadcast aired live on Friday, December 4 at 10:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. PT., and was simultaneously streamed live on estrellaTV.com and on YouTube via Fenomeno Studios: youtube.com/FenomenoStudios. The Ring TV live stream began at approximately 5:30 p.m. PT through 7:00 p.m.

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (December 4, 2015) – Bellator MMA’s Bantamweight Championship will be on the line in a rematch pitting Marcos “Loro” Galvao (17-6-1) against former champion Eduardo “Dudu” Dantas (17-4) at Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane, Kansas, on February 26.

In addition, hometown favorite, David Rickels (16-4, 1 NC) will return to action against an opponent that will be revealed at a later date. “The Caveman” always comes ready to put on a show, whether it’s on his way to the cage, or when he’s taking on a who’s who of Bellator MMA lightweight talent.

The main event, as well as Rickels’ fight will make up two of the televised contests at “Bellator 150: Galvao vs. Dantas,” which airs live on Spike at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT, while preliminary bouts will stream on Bellator.com at 7 p.m. ET. Additional fights will be announced shortly.

A rib injury sustained by Dantas during training camp forced him to withdraw from his previously scheduled title shot at“Bellator 144: Halsey vs. Carvalho.” Now fully recovered, promotional officials have rebooked the tilt.

“Loro,” who has fought for world-renowned promotions the likes of World Extreme Cagefighting and Shooto since 2003, will be competing for the 11th time under the Bellator MMA banner. In his last outing, Galvao finished Joe Warren at “Bellator 135: Warren vs. Galvao” via submission to win his first-ever championship.

Meanwhile, Dantas will be looking to duplicate the success he had against Galvao in their first meeting, which resulted in a second-round knockout at “Bellator 89.” The 26-year-old Nova Uniao product bounced back from his unanimous decision loss against Warren to dispel of Mike Richman in the same manner at “Bellator 137: Halsey vs. Grove.” The Bellator Season 5 Bantamweight Tournament winner is looking to call himself a two-time bantamweight champion come October 23.

“I WANT TO BRING HARM TO HIM,” INSISTS QUILLIN AHEAD OF WORLD TITLE SHOWDOWN WITH CHAMPION JACOBS EXCLUSIVELY LIVE ON BOXNATION

Peter Quillin
LONDON (Dec 4) – Middleweight star Peter Quillin says there will be nothing friendly about his world title matchup with fellow New Yorker Daniel Jacobs this weekend.

The pair will do battle in Brooklyn at the Barclays Center on Saturday night, exclusively live on BoxNation, with 28-year-old Jacobs putting his WBA title on the line against the former and undefeated champion in Quillin.

However, despite pre-fight talk of the duo being friends outside the ring, Quillin insists that will most certainly not be the case when they lock horns.

“Danny and I are very cordial, but when I step into that ring I want to bring harm to him and he wants to do the same to me. So I don’t know if you can consider us friends if we want to do that to each other,” said Quillin.

“I see a determined man in Daniel Jacobs. He’s battled with something I could never tell you about, so I give him that respect. I know what he’s coming to do Saturday night and I have to do it to him first,” he said.

Jacobs’s story is an incredible one having overcome cancer to eventually become world champion following a fifth round stoppage of Jarrod Fletcher last year.

This bout now represents the chance for him to claim hometown pride and he is ready to grab it with both hands, no matter how the fight plays out.

“A lot of people have said this won’t go 12 rounds. But you never know how a fight will go. Sometimes a war is expected and a boxing match breaks out. You never know how a fight will go,” said Jacobs.

“We’re prepared for the best Peter Quillin, whether he’s coming forward, backwards or side-to-side we do what we have to do to get the victory.

“I’m in a comfort zone at Barclays Center with my friends, family and fans cheering me on. But I also like that he has his people cheering too. That’s extra motivation. Technically there are people in my backyard rooting for me to lose,” he said.

‘The Miracle Man’ is also ready to put any friendship to the side when they get in the ring and was keen for the fight to happen sooner, when Quillin held the WBO title before vacating the belt.

“Peter Quillin said he didn’t want to fight me, years ago. Because of our personal relationship he said he didn’t want to fight me. I respected his opinion but I didn’t agree. This was back when he was a champion,” Jacobs said.

“I’m expecting the best Peter Quillin. We’ve both gone through intense training in order to make weight and be the best that we can be on fight night.”

The middleweight division features some of the biggest names around including Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez, with WBO champion Andy Lee and Billy Joe Saunders set to clash on December 19th to determine the other leading name at 160 pounds.

Jacobs though is ready to face any of the top candidates should he successfully come through the fight with 32-year-old Quillin.

“I just need to keep fighting at the elite level for 12-rounds in matchups like this. I’m a fan of the sport and I want to be in there with all the top guys. That’s why I called out Peter Quillin.

“I feel like I have the skill to be the best out there. When I get this victory I want to keep fighting bigger and better opposition,” said Jacobs.

Daniel Jacobs v Peter Quillin is exclusively live on BoxNation (Sky 437/490HD, Virgin 525, TalkTalk 415, online or app) this Saturday night. Visit boxnation.com to subscribe.

WALSH STARTS 2016 WITH BRITISH TITLE DEFENCE AT YORK HALL

British Featherweight Champion Ryan Walsh returns to action on Friday 22nd January, 2016, when he headlines promoter Frank Warren’s first show of the year at the York Hall, Bethnal Green, in the first defence of his title.

The exciting Cromer battler tops a quality packed card with top talents Mitchell Smith, Lewis Pettitt, Ahmet Patterson and many more, live and exclusive on BoxNation.

Walsh created a piece of boxing history when he outpointed Samir Mouneimne to win the British title in September and join brother Liam, the current reigning British and Commonwealth Super-Featherweight Champion, as the first ever twins to hold the British title simultaneously.

The 29-year-old is now eager to get the first of his three British title notches – against a challenger to be announced – to make the Lonsdale belt his own property and also has ambitions to win the Commonwealth title and join Liam as a double-double champion.

“I’m ready to start a big 2016 and ultimately by the end of the year I’d like to have the British title as my own,” Said Walsh.

“I’m starting the year nice and early with my first title defence so I’m sacrificing Christmas, and everyone knows how much I love my X-Mas dinner, to train and make sure I keep hold of my title, so I’ll be starving hungry come fight night to keep hold of my title,”

“Obviously other title opportunities may present themselves during the year, I’d love to get hold of the Commonwealth belt as well, seeing as Liam also holds the belt and we can create another bit of history by being the first twins to hold the British and Commonwealth belts at the same time, now that would something. I’d also love to go for the European title which would be a dream to win.”

“The featherweight division is great domestically and there are some good fighters in there. I believe that I could beat the likes of Josh Warrington now, I’d love to get revenge over Lee Selby one day as he’s got the one victory over me and I want to reverse that,”

“Right now I’m concentrating on January 22nd and retaining my title and once I know the identity of my challenger he’ll be my prime focus.”

Heading up the undercard, explosive Harrow Weald starlet Mitchell Smith, the Boxing Writers’ 2015 Young Boxer of the Year, will feature in an eight round contest, but he first fights on the mammoth December 19 show at the Manchester Arena when he defends his WBO Intercontinental Super-Featherweight title against George Jupp.

Erith super-bantamweight Lewis Pettitt makes his return to the ring in an eight-rounder after suffering a loss in his last fight against Bobby Jenkinson in a Commonwealth title challenge and is now raring to get back into championship contention again.

Red-hot super-welterweight Ahmet Patterson is on the verge of challenging for title honours next year in his new weight-class and the unbeaten talent from Dulwich keeps busy in an eight-round contest.

Dagenham lightweight talent Ediz Hussein competes in a six rounder and completing the undercard are some of the hottest young prospects in the country as the continue to develop their careers in 2016 in four round contests: West Ham super-welterweight Sam McNess; Chelmsford super-middleweight Billy Long; Chingford lightweight Archie Sharp; West Ham super-lightweight Ben Smith and Sidcup super-featherweight D.P Carr.

Tickets priced at £40 and £60 are available from Ticket Master at www.ticketmaster.co.uk and 0844 844 0444

TOMMY LANGFORD: “I CAN CAUSE BOTH LEE AND SAUNDERS PROBLEMS.”

The captivating world middleweight scene ignites into life again with Danny Jacobs defending his WBA title in a Brooklyn derby with Peter Quillin on December 5th while Andy Lee and Billy Joe Saunders slug it out for the WBO crown and bragging rights within the fight mad travelling community on December 19th.

Both bang-ups shall be televised exclusively live in the UK on BoxNation and one man who’ll certainly be glued to the action is unbeaten Brummie Tommy Langford.

The super stylish six footer, who holds the WBO’s Inter-Continental title and a number six world ranking, is hell bent on grabbing a date with either winner in 2016.

‘Jacobs and Quillin are two very good technicians with similar styles; very evenly matched,’ assesses Langford who has recently been ringside working ringside for BoxNation.

‘Both are tall and look to land raking straight right hands. Quillin has excellent timing but can be tentative. Against Andy Lee last time, he missed the weight and looked slow and tired whereas Jacobs is on a hot streak and looked brilliant hammering Jarrod Fletcher. I’d slightly edge to Jacobs on recent form.

‘While Gennady Golovkin looks pretty indestructible right now, neither of those two scare me. It’s the big fights on US TV that every fighter wants to be part of.’

The 26 year old sports science graduate intends scrutinising Lee and Saunders from ringside at the Manchester Arena as he is scheduled to defend his Inter-Continental title for a second time earlier that evening.

‘That’s gonna be a great boxer-banger match-up,’ says Langford who has who 14 straight with four stoppage victories.

‘Billy Joe is fighting with a lot of confidence and is very elusive. No one’s really caught him clean yet and I see him outboxing Lee for long spells and just getting across the line. But you’re never safe in a fight against Andy Lee!’

While the ex England amateur captain and multiple national junior champion holds both main eventers in the highest regard, he is respectfully confident that he already has the skill set to neutralise either.

Langford says: ‘I feel I’ve got the answers to what they bring and I can cause both problems. My first child is due in April so I’d like to get that out of the way and, ideally, I’d prefer another three or four fights so I’d be more than ready but if a chance was offered early next year I’d take it, 100%.

‘There’s two ways to beat Lee. You can bully him on the inside like Julio Cesar Chavez Jr did, or you can try to draw his hook and chin him. He’s hittable, doesn’t have the best defence and he goes over.

‘The secret with Billy Joe is to throw in numbers cos he slips and slides around single shots. He always starts very fast but if I could stay with him and maybe nick a couple of early rounds, I believe my superior fitness could tell down the straight. He tires in every fight.’

To have any chance of justifying his claims, the mild mannered midlander knows it is imperative to deliver a performance whereby he both wins and woos against his challenger to be announced on the ‘X-Mas Cracker’ undercard.

‘I want to take another step up the ladder and convince the fans and pundits that I’m improving every fight; produce another progressive performance and hopefully another stoppage.’ he concludes.

EAST L.A.’S UNDEFEATED JULIAN “EL CAMARÓN” RAMIREZ TO HEADLINE FIRST LA FIGHT CLUB OF 2016

LOS ANGELES (Dec. 4, 2015) – Kicking off 2016 with fireworks, the first LA FIGHT CLUB of the new year will feature East L.A’s undefeated Julian “El Camarón” Ramirez (15-0, 8 KOs) in a 10 round featherweight bout headlining the live event on Boxeo Estelar on Estrella TV on January 29, 2016 from Downtown’s Belasco Theater.

Undefeated featherweight standout Abraham “Chamaco” Lopez (19-0-1, 14 KOs) will also make his first 2016 appearance in the ring at LA FIGHT CLUB in a 10-round featherweight televised co-main event. Additional fighters on the undercard will be announced soon.

“The response we’ve received with LA FIGHT CLUB has far exceeded our expectations,” said Oscar De La Hoya, Chairman and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions. “We set out early this year to bring exciting boxing match ups back to downtown Los Angeles with this series and we’ve done just that. The greater Los Angeles area is rich with up- and-coming boxing talent, and LA FIGHT CLUB has been a great way to showcase these fighters.”

Known as “El Camarón,” Ramirez is coming off of a unanimous decision win on the undercard of the Lucas Matthysse vs. Viktor Postol fight Oct. 3 at the Stubhub Center in Carson in an action-packed affair that had the fans on their feet. The undefeated East Los Angeles native has boxing in his blood. His late uncle was the former WBA and WBC Super Featherweight World Champion Genaro “El Chicanito” Hernandez. Ramirez has been on the fast track since turning professional in 2012. A dynamic southpaw who has the skills to succeed, the 22 year-old Ramirez gave a spectacular showing on the undercard of Matthysse vs. Postol on October 3 and a thrilling main event showdown April 2 when he headlined LA FIGHT CLUB for the first time card, adding another victory to his resume with a unanimous decision win over the vicious Raul “Bule” Hidalgo. Ramirez will look to start off 2016 strong with a win on Jan. 29.

Unbeaten in 19 professional fights, La Puente, Calif.’s Abraham “Chamaco” Lopez wants to start making his move to the elite level at 126 pounds and despite a draw against Juan Carlos Martinez in March, the 27-year-old’s fifth-round knockout of 1996 Ghanian Olympian Alfred Tetteh in May proved that he’s ready for that next step. Owner of wins over Gabriel Tolmajyan, Aaron Garcia and Jorge Diaz, Lopez is looking forward to his next challenge on Jan. 29.

A new series announced in February 2015 by Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions, LA FIGHT CLUB has proven to be a smashing success since its debut. Nearly every show in the monthly series has sold out, attracting local hard-core and casual boxing fans alike. The series has been a hit due to its exciting matchups, electric atmosphere and celebrity following.

At LA FIGHT CLUB, the boxing ring is set on the main floor of the Belasco Theater with on-camera standing room for fans in front of the ring similar to a concert pit, as well as reserved balcony and floor seats. Los Angeles’ own DJ Ray of Big Boy’s Neighborhood spins music during the fights and fans are able to dance and mingle with the fighters when the venue converts into a night club, in a VIP experience not matched by any promoter in the industry.

Media interested in attending the Jan. 29, 2016 installment of LA FIGHT CLUB must be pre-approved for credentials. Credential applications are available here. Completed credential applications should be sent to credentials@mercuryllc.com by 5 p.m. on Friday, January 22. Media will not be credentialed on-site, no exceptions.

The LA FIGHT CLUB event on January 29, 2016 is a 10-round bout taking place at The Belasco Theater in downtown Los Angeles. The event is presented by Golden Boy Promotions. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. and the first bout begins at 5:30 p.m. The Estrella TV Boxeo Estelar broadcast will air live on Friday, December 4 at 10:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. PT., and will also be simultaneously streaming live on estrellaTV.com and on YouTube via Fenomeno Studios: youtube.com/FenomenoStudios. The Ring TV live stream will begin at approximately 5:30 p.m. PT through 7:00 p.m.

Tickets for LA FIGHT CLUB are on sale starting at $20 and available for purchase online at www.goldenboypromotions.com or by visiting the Golden Boy Promotions Facebook page. For ticket information, email us at LAFightClub@goldenboypromotions.com.

UPRISING PROMOTIONS INKS GUYANESE MIDDLEWEIGHT EDMUND DECLOU

Brooklyn, N.Y. (Friday, Dec. 4, 2015) – Ronson Frank’s Uprising Promotions continues to bolster an impressive roster, confirming today that it has signed Guyanese middleweight Edmund DeClou (16-3-1, 3 KOs) to a promotional contract.

“Edmund brings significant value to what we are doing as a team,” said Ronson Frank, President of Uprising Promotions. “He is a slick middleweight and really skilled boxer who is not too far away from getting a big fight. Edmund is already a 20-bout veteran, so our plan is to get him a couple fights and then put him in a position where he can knock off a top guy to take his spot.”

The number one rated middleweight in Guyana, DeClou is a six-year professional who was unbeaten in 14 consecutive fights after splitting the first two bouts of his pro campaign. Since then, he has avenged both of his most previous losses and was victorious in his last outing, a six-frame unanimous decision over Kevin Hylton in Jamaica.

DeClou won the interim Guyanese super middleweight championship in 2011 by defeating now Uprising Promotions stablemate Joel McRae and then picked up the Guyanese middleweight title in his next bout by decisioning 54-bout veteran Howard Eastman in 12 rounds. He then put himself on the international radar in 2012 when he scored a ninth round TKO over Kevin Placide to claim the vacant WBC Caribbean Boxing Federation (CABOFE) middleweight championship.

Plans are currently in the works for DeClou’s debut under the Uprising Promotions banner and are expected to be confirmed within the next few weeks.

Next up for Uprising Promotions is a super welterweight pairing for Villi Bello (3-1, 1 KO) this Saturday night at the Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City when he faces Alshamar Johnson (1-1, 1 KO). Following that is a December 12th date for Belgian super welterweight Sheldon Moore (15-3-1, 10 KOs), who will meet Islam Teffahi (17-5-2, 5 KOs) for the WBC International Silver and WBC Francophone titles at the Centre sportif des Ascenseurs in Le Roeulx, Belgium.

Joseph Smith Jr. – Bio
Record: 19-1 16KO’s
Division: Light Heavyweight
Weight: 175lbs
Height: 6’1″
Hometown: Mastic, NY
Promoter: Star Boxing (Joe DeGuardia)
Mngr/Trainer: Jerry Capobianco

Joe grew up in Shirley Long Island. He is the oldest of 7 brothers and 1 sister. Joe started boxing at 13 years old. Boxing was a way to stay off the street and out of trouble and became a big part of his life. As an amateur, Joe had a very successful career. With just about 50 amateur fights, Joe won many titles including the Title World Champion in 2006, Junior Olympic Champion in 2004, 2005, and 2006, Empire State Champion in 2006, 2007 and 2008 and the New York Metro Champion in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. One of the most memorable times in Joe’s life was in 2008 when he celebrated the birth of his daughter and just weeks later became a New York Golden Glove Champion with an impressive win over Sean Monaghan.

Joe turned pro in October 2009 winning his debut fight on Halloween by first round knockout over David Brown. His next 5 fights were by first and second round knockouts. Then, in his 7th pro fight, against Eddie Caminero, Joe, who was on his way to another convincing win, suffered a horribly broken jaw in the 2nd round. Joe continued to fight through the excruciating pain but his corner stopped the fight after the 4th round. Joe returned after almost a year layoff and he returned with vengeance reeling off 10 straight wins, 9 inside the distance, including wins of former contenders Otis Griffith and Tyrell Hendrix.

Joe and his team then signed a promotional contract with Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing in September of 2014. Joe had numerous offers to sign with other promoters but felt that Joe DeGuardia was his best option. Joe made his Star Boxing debut a smashing one by blasting out the tough Maxell Taylor in 1 round on December 20th, 2014 fighting for the first time in his backyard at The Paramount in Huntington, NY. The bout was televised on MSG Network. Joe returned to The Paramount on April 18, 2015, and thrilled the sold out crowd with an exciting 2nd round KO over Cory Cummings. Capping off a busy 2015, Joe fought again on September 11, knocking out Dion Savage in the 9th Round at the Paramount. He is currently scheduled to fight at Barclay Center on December 5th vs local rival Will Rosinsky. When not in the ring, Joe works for Local 66 Laborers Union. Joe has become one of the Tri State area’s top attractions. Joe has a huge fan base that grows with each fight, many of whom are Laborers. Under the direction of Joe DeGuardia and his team at Star Boxing hopes to challenge for a world championship in the near future.
