ARLINGTON, TX (April 26, 2023): Undefeated knockout artist William “El Camarón” Zepeda (27-0, 23 KOs) of San Mateo, Mexico hosted a media workout today at Maple Avenue Boxing Gym to promote his upcoming fight against former world champion challenger of Curundu, Panama Jaime “Jaimito” Arboleda (19-2, 14 KOs). Zepeda will be defending his WBA Continental Americas Lightweight Title in a 12-round main event that is presented in association with Sampson Boxing and broadcast live worldwide on DAZN from College Park Center at The University of Texas at Arlington campus. In the main event, five-time New York Golden Gloves champion Brian Ceballo (13-1, 7 KOs), from Brooklyn, face off against Dominican Edward Ulloa Diaz in an eight-round super welterweight contest. In December 2020, Ceballo captured the WBO Inter-Continental welterweight belt. He’s looking forward to defending his home turf. 

“My training is amazing! I haven’t felt this good about my training and my fight since 2019,” said Ceballo. “I know my opponent has been in with really tough opposition and although he’s come up short, he showed that he belongs with top guys. So, I know he will be a competitor coming to win as we take center stage on Times Square Thursday. I’m coming to win big in front of my hometown friends, family, and fans. So it’s a fight you do not want to miss.”

Miyo Yoshida (15-3), a two-time super flyweight world champion, will make her US debut on Thursday, April 27. She has been training out of Gleason’s Gym in Brooklyn, NY, under the tutelage of head coach Leon Taylor. “The time is finally here and I am thrilled to make my New York debut that I have been dreaming of,” said Yoshida. “I cannot thank everyone enough for this opportunity. It is a big challenge for me to move with my little daughter here from home for the new chapter of my boxing career, but I am determined to show my spirit to the fans to make NY my new home. Thanks a lot for your support!”

 After playing softball as a teenager, the athletic Yoshida moved to Hawaii to study martial arts and learned kickboxing. She then transitioned to boxing and made her professional debut in 2014. She gave birth to her daughter the following year. Yoshida first captured the Japan Boxing Commission and Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation bantamweight titles then seized the WBO super flyweight crown in 2019. She lost her title in her second title defense via close technical decision against Tomoko Okuda, but quickly regained it in a 2021 rematch. Yoshida is determined to get back into world title contention after losing her belt via split decision against Tamao Ozawa in her last fight.

Yoshida battles Indeya Smith (6-6, 1 KO), from Dallas, TX, via New Orleans, LA, made her BoxingInsider Promotions debut on December 21, 2022, with an upset win versus Sulem Urbina, dominating the bout from the opening bell.

The Maccow-Otero New York City grudge match has reached a boiling point. The two fought each other as amateurs and their gym wars are well known. Sydney “The Jackal” Maccow (8-8, 3 KOs), born in Sint Maarten, Netherlands, now residing in Brooklyn, NY, is coming off of a five-fight streak of four wins sandwiched around a no contest. Christian “Veneno” Otero (4-3, 2 KOs), from New York, NY, made his pro debut on October 31, 2020, and his career began with four straight victories.

The two recently had this back-and-forth:

Otero: “You better be ready because no one is going to be able to save you. It’s just going to be me and you, 1-on-1, and I am coming for you.  I’ve had the best camp of my life. There is going to be a lot of emotion in the ring and I’m going out there to perform. I am desperate for this fight.”

Maccow: I’ve dropped a lot of people in the gym in my twelve years of sparring and Otero is one of them, I beat him in the amateurs and I beat him up in sparring and I’ll beat him up on Thursday. 

Otero: He is publicizing sparring sessions. Sparring sessions stay in the gym. A fight is totally different. It’s going to be 8 oz gloves and once I touch him, he’s probably not going to want to fight me – he is going to run. Leave sparring in sparring and bring the fight to the fight. On Thursday, I’m going to be in the middle of the ring so you better be ready.

Maccow: Otero said he wasn’t in shape when I dropped him. What does that say about him? That he was out of shape and not training? I am always in shape – there is never any getting in shape for me. I spar with people at a high level and he hit me up and I dropped him. Bottom line is there is real footage out there of him getting beat up.

Otero: People get dropped all the time in the gym. In a real fight, anyone that pushes me gets their but whipped and gets dropped. I’m telling you right now, I’m going to beat the (bleep) out of him. This is my business, and this is personal.

Maccow: Every time he steps in the ring he gets bullied by me. There are more videos. There is only one out there but I may drop more.

Otero: This fight I am in top shape so good luck to him.

In an eight-round battle for the vacan NABF Jr. Super Featherweight Championship, two-time Mongolian Olympian and 2018 Asian Games gold medalist Tsendbaatar “Chinggis Khaan” Erdenebat (5-0, 3 KOs) will battle Edy Valencia Mercado (20-9-6, 7 KOs). Tsendbaatar returns to Sony Hall following a third-round TKO win at the venue on February 23.

April 26, 2023, Brooklyn, NY – Boxing champion Hector Camacho Jr. will host a special press conference announcing the launch of the Macho Cup Amateur Boxing Event. Named in honor of his slain father, Hector “Macho” Camacho, the legendary Puerto Rican world champion boxer and entertainer who lost his life in senseless drive-by shooting. The free event will feature a series of amateur boxing matches sanctioned by USA Boxing Metro, presented by Gym X Boxing Gym, EntroBox, American Dream Presents, and Hector Camacho Jr.

The press conference will take place at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 27^th, at the East Harlem neighborhood where Macho Camacho grew up, at the James Weldon Johnson Community Center, located at 1833 Lexington Avenue, New York, NY.

The historic event is part of Camacho Jr’s Gloves Up Guns Down, a national social justice initiative that promotes boxing as a positive, healthy alternative to senseless gun violence. “Having lost my dad to a bullet, I’m committed to continue to raise awareness, provide hope while making a difference in our communities,” said Camacho Jr.

Hector “Macho” Camacho, East Harlem legend, won three New York State Golden Gloves tournaments before becoming a world champion boxer in three weight classes, WBC Super Featherweight, WBC Lightweight, and WBO Junior Welterweight. Hector “Macho” Camacho was the prized fighter that sent Sugar Ray Leonard into permanent retirement in 1997. On November 20, 2012, world champion boxer, who fought his way out of the rough streets of Spanish Harlem’s, was killed in a drive-by shooting in Puerto Rico.

The inaugural Macho Cup will take place May 18^th, kicking off a festive week of celebration honoring the fighting pride of Spanish Harlem. It will include renaming 115^th Street and Lexington Avenue, Macho Camacho Way, to be held on May 20^th. In addition to the historic renaming of the street, Bally’s Sports will air a special 60-minute documentary – “Macho Camacho Way” – chronicling the events leading up to the renaming and the festive celebration that will follow. LONDON, ENGLAND – (April 25th, 2023) – Liam Smith and Chris Eubank Jr met in London today at the official pre-fight press conference to formally announce their Saturday June 17th rematch in Manchester this summer.

The two exchanged frank opinions both about their January encounter – which Smith won by fourth-round stoppage – and the upcoming rematch, which Smith feels will go the same way. 

Joining the middleweights at today’s press conference were female super-middleweights Savannah Marshall and her old amateur rival in Franchon Crews-Dezurn, who is now the undisputed world champion at the weight class.

Their co-headline bout will be for the undisputed world championship, with Marshall taking an immediate shot the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO world titles – and marks Marshall’s return to her former weight class, where she was previously Intercontinental champion before moving up to middleweight for her world title reign.

The event takes place at the AO Arena Manchester on June 17th and airs live and exclusively in the UK and Ireland as a Sky Sports Box Office, with pricing to be announced by Sky in the near future.

LIAM SMITH 

On Eubank’s claims that he wanted the January fight to continue: “Any other fighter gets stopped after that first knockdown.”

“It all happened to him on one night, everything he thought couldn’t happen to him, everything Chris prides himself on not happening, happened to him on one night – and I did  it to him.

“I knew I was a better fighter than Chris. Now I know I can hurt him and hurt him quite handily at 160lbs. Now I’m massively confident.

“To save face he had to take this rematch if he wants to go any further in his career. He’s got a lot of demons to overcome.”

CHRIS EUBANK JR

On the January stoppage: “The thing I regret is not being given the chance to get through it. I wanted to continue. I wanted to see if I could overcome that adversity and I feel like I was robbed of that challenge. 

“This is what we sign up for. We signed up to get hurt. We sign up for the possibility of receiving punishment. 

“If a beating was what I was going to take if the fight had been left to go longer, then great, that’s what I deserve. I would have accepted that. I would have enjoyed that. 

“In my opinion, he didn’t stop me, the referee stopped me. In a sense we both got robbed there.

“I’m a grizzled veteran in the sport, I know how much I can take, I know when I can’t go on. I was buzzed but I knew what was going on.”

FRANCHON CREWS-DEZURN

“She gave a valiant fight in October [against Shields] but it might not be the same, it’s going to be a little worse this time. We’re here right now and I’m telling you June 17 is going to be fun for me. There are some things in boxing you can’t teach.”

SAVANNAH MARSHALL 

“There’s no weight cutting, no being drained for fights so I think this weight will suit me a lot better. I believe I’m at world level and if I can’t mix it with the likes of Franchon what good am I in boxing?

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND – (April 25, 2023) -– Repeat or revenge? All or nothing? A blockbuster night of box office boxing is locked in at AO Arena Manchester on Saturday, June 17 as Liam Smith faces Chris Eubank Jr in a high stakes rematch and Undisputed Super-Middleweight champion Franchon Crews-Dezurn puts all her gold on the line against Savannah Marshall. 

Months of build-up and high tensions in fight week set the stage for a classic encounter in January between Smith and Eubank, with the 20,000 fans inside the sold-out Manchester Arena joined by a huge television audience which set a new domestic pay-per-view record for the weight class.

And another sell-out is expected in June with fans able to register for tickets today ahead of Friday’s general sale. 

With both fighters eager for a definitive finish, there was little in the way of a feeling-out process. Heavy leather was traded from the opening bell – and it was all over twelve minutes later, the referee stepping in to wave the fight off after Smith emphatically put Eubank Jr down twice in the first minute of the fourth round.

The result did little to settle tensions between the two men and they rose still further when Eubank’s team claimed one of the knockdowns had been the result of an illegal elbow strike. This incensed Smith, who saw it as a display of bad sportsmanship and Eubank refusing to admit Smith had been the better man on the night.

In summer those tensions will soar to new heights as both men return to Manchester Arena in June for a clash which will irrevocably change the course of their careers.

For former WBO world light-middleweight champion Smith (33-3-1, 20 KO’s), a second win will stamp his authority on the domestic division and set the stage for huge future world title opportunities as he continues his career renaissance under the BOXXER banner.

Liam Smith said: “I know he tried his best to go a different route but the fight is on now and I am looking forward to hearing what he has to say for himself in the build up. Let’s see what angle he comes with this time. 

“He can’t come with angles about how he’s never been hurt, he’s never been dropped, he’s never been stopped, because he just had all three of those things happen to him in one night and it was me who did it to him. So I’m interested to see what he comes with this time and I’m also interested to see where he goes after I beat him again on June 17.

For Eubank (32-3, 23 KO’s), victory means redemption and revitalises the prospect of encounters with elite names on the world stage.

Meanwhile, Savannah ‘The Silent Assassin’ Marshall (12-1, 10 KO’s) will challenge undisputed world super-middleweight champion Franchón ‘FCD’ Crews-Dezurn in the co-headline bout.

Having headlined a record-setting event at London’s O2 Arena in an October challenge against Claressa ‘GWOAT’ Shields, Marshall’s return to the ring places her immediately in another high-stakes encounter against an undisputed world champion with the WBC, WBA, WBO and IBF world super-middleweight championships on the line.

Crews-Dezurn (8-1, 2 KO’s) began her second stint as WBO world super-middleweight champion in March 2020, captured the WBC title for a second time in June 2020 and then added the WBA and IBF belts in April 2022 to become undisputed world champion of the weight class. 

For former world middleweight champion Marshall, the bout is a return to her roots: she commenced her professional career at super-middleweight, her first professional bout taking place on the undercard of the blockbuster Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Conor McGregor superfight which took place in August 2017. 

Having once held the WBA Intercontinental Super-Middleweight Championship before moving up to middleweight and commencing her successful middleweight run, Marshall is going all-in on her return to the division and is aiming for immediate undisputed world champion status.

Franchón Crews-Dezurn said: “I’m so excited that my team and BOXXER were finally able to get this fight done. I’m looking forward to fighting in Manchester, England, especially against a competitor like Savannah Marshall, who has represented the UK for many years just as I have represented the United States for many years, including as amateurs.

ARLINGTON, TX (April 25, 2023): The countdown continues towards the title showdown between undefeated knockout artist William “El Camarón” Zepeda (27-0, 23 KOs) of San Mateo, Mexico who will defend his WBA Continental Americas Lightweight Title against former world champion challenger of Curundu, Panama Jaime “Jaimito” Arboleda (19-2, 14 KOs). The 12-round main event is presented in association with Sampson Boxing, and will be broadcast live worldwide on DAZN from College Park Center at The University of Texas at Arlington campus. Doors to College Park Center open at 5:00 p.m. CT, the opening bout begins at 5:05 p.m. CT, and the DAZN broadcast will begin at 7:00 p.m. CT/ 8:00 p.m. ET. 

In the co-main event, Diego De La Hoya (24-1, 11 KOs) will participate in a 10-round featherweight fight against stablemate Victor Morales, Jr.  (17-0-1, 8 KOs). The two will now be fighting for the WBA Intercontinental Featherweight Title. 

Chicago’s Frederick “General Okunka” Lawson (29-3, 22 KOs) will fight Estevan “Manos De Oro” Villalobos (16-1-1, 12 KOs) of Mount Vernon, Washington in a 10-round super welterweight bout. Opening up the DAZN broadcast with eight-rounds of super middleweight action, Reading, Pennsylvania’s David “Dynamite” Stevens (12-0, 9 KOs) will face off against Marco Periban (26-6-1, 17 KOs) of Mexico City. 

Also on the card, Tristan “Sweet T” Kalkreuth (9-1, 7 KOs) of Duncanville, Texas is scheduled for a six-round heavyweight fight against Jonathon “The Reaper” Rice (2-2, 2 KOs) of Cleburne, Texas. Caleb Suniga (1-0) of Austin, Texas will participate in a four-round super featherweight fight against Chichigalpa, Nicaragua’s Carlos Arroyo (5-22-1, 4 KOs). 

Darius “DFG” Fulghum (3-0, 3 KOs) of Houston will face Julio Bendana (6-6, 3 KOs) of Managua, Nicaragua in a six-round light heavyweight bout. QUINCY, Mass. (April 24, 2023) – Granite Chin Promotions (GCP) returns to the Bridgewater Veterans Club on Saturday night, June 10^th, with “”Fight Night at the Vets Club” in Bridgewater, Massachusetts.

The six-round main event pits former Massachusetts Middleweight title challenger Julien “Black Dragon” Baptiste (4-3, 2 KOs), of Woburn (MA), against Ryan Thomas Clark (2-3, 1 KO), of Barrington (NH), in an old-fashioned New England rivalry match.

Baptiste and Clark split a pair of amateur matches: “Black Dragon” won a split decision in 2016, lost a unanimous decision in 2015.

In his most recent pro fight, Baptiste lost a six-round majority decision, also contested at the Vets Club, to Tony Andreozzi for the state title. Clark’s most notable pro victory was a six-round unanimous decision over Kris Jacobs.

LAS VEGAS (April 24, 2023) – A pair of 19-year-old lightweight prodigies are set to return in separate bouts as part of the ESPN+-streamed undercard to the PPV main event headlined by the undisputed lightweight championship battle between Devin Haney and Vasiliy Lomachenko at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Undefeated Las Vegas native Emiliano Fernando Vargas will take on an opponent to be named in a four-round bout, and Cleveland-born southpaw AbdullahMason will face Desmond Lyons in a six-rounder.

Vargas’ return, Mason-Lyons and additional undercard fights will be streamed live on ESPN+ beginning at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT. 

The stream will precede a two-fight ESPN telecast featuring the vacant WBO junior bantamweight world title showdown between Australia’s former world champion Andrew Moloney and Japan’s undefeated former WBO flyweight titlist Junto Nakatani. Moloney-Nakatani and the return of middleweight prospect Nico Ali Walsh will be broadcast live on ESPN, ESPN Deportes and ESPN+ at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

The Haney vs. Lomachenko main card will stream live on Top Rank on ESPN+ PPV, the event’s exclusive digital distributor in the United States, beginning at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. Priced at $59.99 across all distributors, it also will be available via cable and satellite pay-per-view providers.

Vargas (4-0, 3 KOs) was a seven-time national amateur champion before debuting in the pro ranks in May 2022 with a first-round knockout of Mark Salgado. In October, “El General” signed a multi-year promotional contract with Top Rank and debuted with a highlight-reel knockout over Julio Martinez. Under the guidance of his father and trainer, former world champion Fernando “El Feroz” Vargas, the young lightweight has already scored two victories this year, a four-round decision win over Francisco Duque in February and a second-round knockout over Edgar Uvalle in April.

Mason (7-0, 6 KOs) was considered one of the brightest talents in U.S. amateur boxing before signing with Top Rank in October 2021. Mason made his pro debut in November 2021 with a second-round TKO win over Jaylan Phillips. In 2022, Mason went 5-0 with four knockouts. The southpaw phenom is coming off a first-round stoppage over Erick Garcia Benitez in April. Lyons (8-2, 2 KOs) is a 24-year-old South Carolina native who defeated Aaron Jamel Hollis via a six-round decision last May.
