“Brutal” Brendan Barrett to appear in Heavyweight co-feature this Saturday at Veterans Memorial Park in Beach Haven, New Jersey

Beach Haven, New Jersey (September 25, 2015)–THIS Saturday, September 26, at Veterans Memorial Park (In between the Sea Shell & Engleside Resorts) at Engleside Avenue at the Beach in Beach Haven. New Jersey, A terrfic card of boxing will take place beginning at 5:30 PM

In the main event, junior middleweight Thomas “Cornflake” LaManna will take part in a 6-round bout against veteran Ayi Bruce.

In the anticipated co-feature, “Brutal” Brendan Barrett takes on Satario Holdbrooks in a Heavyweight scheduled for 4-rounds.

Barrett of Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey is a popular figure around the Beach Haven/Long Beach Island area due to him being a 6-time MMA Heavyweight champion.

Barrett has carved out a terrific MMA career but has always had the itch to become a boxer.

Barrett has experience in the squared circle as he has a draw in a fight that he took part in 2006.

“When I took the first boxing fight it was just to do it and to stay active. My main background was wrestling, but every time the bell rang I just wanted to throw punches. Years ago I would watch The Contender and see how the boxers were portrayed as professionals and respectful athletes compared to some of the other fighting reality shows of the time. I started learning more about the history and legacy of boxing and became more and more interested in the sport.”

“I was already an established MMA fighter when I took my first boxing fight. I went out to Pittsburgh to train for a second boxing fight but several opponents fell through and the show was eventually canceled because of a snow storm. After that fight fell through I was offered another MMA fight, for the first time at HWT, with an opponent that declined to fight me as a last minute replacement against him on a fight he was scheduled for. Months later he called me out now wanting to fight. I took that rather personally so I went back to MMA to fight him and won. After that I started getting a lot of offers to fight at HWT in MMA and since became a 6 time HWT Champion across four different promotions, yet still wanted to box again.”

Barrett started the company H.I.T.M. Promotions, which stand for History In The Making, because he was tired of waiting for an opportunity in boxing, and also wanted to help other fighters further their own careers.

“I’ve sacrificed so much and dedicated myself for so long that I felt it was time to take control of my own destiny. No matter how hard I work or how prepared I am, I was always left waiting for an opportunity. Having my own promotional company removes the waiting. I can now fight on other shows, or my own and keep myself active. I started H.I.T.M. Promotions not to be a promoter, but to be a fighter. My focus is completely on this Saturday, but in the back of my mind I am already thinking about promoting another show. This is basically the most pivotal fight in my career. Not only am I transitioning back to boxing, but it is my first fight back from an injury to my hand that should have ended my career. On top of that, it is the first show my company has ever promoted. I felt that holding this fight in Beach Haven was a great way to do something different and special to the local community and to give back to a place that I have gotten so much from.”

So when asked if this is the end of his MMA Career, Barrett is open to anything.

“I honestly haven’t thought much about MMA. I truly want to keep boxing, but I haven’t completely shut the door on MMA.

Barrett said being a fighter and a promoter has not been easy as he embarks on his 2nd appearance in the ring.

“It has been difficult dealing with all of the phone calls, emails, and planning, all while trying to prepare for a fight. There have been times when I was doing my morning cardio on and I would be on the phone while working out handling business. As the fight got closer, I had to force myself to take more time to train and prepare myself. It was hard to stay focused at times because my opponent kept changing, and when the last one fell through and they mentioned Holdbrooks, I just said yes so I could fight.”

“I am honored to have the talent the we have on this card being that this is our first show. I feel blessed to fight in my backyard of Long Beach Island and this should be a great night of action.”

BUGLIONI’S WORLD TITLE BID AGAINST CHUDINOV SET TO BE BOXNATION’S 250TH LIVE SHOW AS ‘THE CHANNEL OF CHAMPIONS’ CELEBRATES 4TH BIRTHDAY

LONDON (25 September) – Frank Buglioni’s world title bid against Russian assassin Fedor Chudinov will be BoxNation’s 250th live show as the channel celebrates turning 4 years old.

‘The Channel of Champions’ has blossomed into the world’s undisputed number one boxing channel since it was launched in 2011, and is now set to celebrate another year at the top on 30th September.

Super-middleweight ace Buglioni will be looking to get the celebrations underway this Saturday night when he takes on WBA champion Chudinov at The SSE Arena in Wembley for BoxNation’s historic 250th live contest.

It is fitting that Buglioni is the one to headline this landmark achievement with BoxNation having screened all his fights live and exclusive on the channel since he turned professional against Sabie Montieth in November 2011.

The bout with the unbeaten Chudinov, who has a record of 13 wins with ten knockouts, represents the Londoner’s stiffest test as he looks to achieve a lifelong dream of becoming world champion.

“I can’t wait for the fight now,” said Buglioni. “I know this is the toughest fight of my career and I’ve done all the hardwork and can guarantee the fans in the arena and those watching live on BoxNation a very special night. It’s going to be explosive because you have two guys in there who can punch.

“To be headlining BoxNation’s 250th live fight also means a lot to me, especially since all my fights have been shown on the channel. I’m out to deliver an early 4th birthday present for the channel by bringing the world title back to Britain,” he said.

BoxNation’s spectacular rise has been unprecedented with the fight channel showing over 1000 professional bouts from 23 different countries, including over 200 world championship fights, 57 European title contests and 76 British and Commonwealth title battles.

Over the last year BoxNation has also shown a host of leading names with the likes of pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather’s final bout against Andre Berto, plus Sergey Kovalev, Amir Khan, Wladimir Klitschko, Billy Joe Saunders and many more.

The upcoming schedule to welcome the channel’s fourth year includes megafights such as Puerto Rican legend Miguel Cotto’s middleweight world title defence against Mexican icon Canelo Alvarez, and Gennady Golovkin facing fellow hard-hitter David Lemieux.

Other standout contests to be aired exclusively live include Argentine knockout artist Lucas Matthysse’s bout with Viktor Postol for the vacant WBC light-welterweight title on October 3, British stars Terry Flanagan and Liam Smith’s respective world championship bouts on October 10 and welterweight world champion Tim Bradley’s matchup with Brandon Rios.

Jim McMunn, BoxNation Managing Director, said: “We are delighted to reach this milestone of 250 live fights on the channel, just ahead of what will be our 4th birthday. It’s fantastic that our 250th live show will feature Frank Buglioni whose fights have all been shown live on BoxNation. The channel has grown considerably since we launched in 2011 and continues to grow at a remarkable rate which has seen it turn into the unrivalled home of big-time boxing.”

“I am so excited for this opportunity to compete against a young, strong fighter like Jermell Charlo,” said Alcine. “I don’t think he’s faced a fighter with my level of experience in big fights. I am not going to make it easy for him. I am going to challenge Charlo like he never has been before.”

Klitschko vs. Fury is OFF

wklitschko
Hamburg, September 25, 2015: (C/O K2 Promotions) Due to a tendon tear in the left calf of the IBF/IBO and “The Ring Magazine” World Heavyweight Champion and WBA/WBO Superchampion Wladimir Klitschko, his championship fight against Tyson Fury will be postponed.

After sustaining the injury in his training session yesterday, Wladimir Klitschko promptly left his training camp to seek medical treatment from Dr. Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt, physician for the German national soccer team, who has diagnosed the injury.

“Especially after the exciting press conference last Wednesday, I was looking forward to this fight very much. I know that a lot of fans have already organized their trips to support me in Düsseldorf. I am so sorry that I am not able to fight on October 24. I also apologize to my opponent, who has spent many weeks preparing for this fight. I will do my very best to recover as fast as possible,” said Wladimir Klitschko.

Klitschko will continue to seek medical treatment from Dr. Müller-Wohlfahrt and the new date for the fight against Tyson Fury will be announced next week. The ESPRIT arena in Düsseldorf will still be the venue.

“The clinical and MRI-examination showed a partial musculotendinous tear of the left calf. The boxing fight planned for October 24 (World Championship in the heavyweight division) should be postponed for an indefinite period of time. Due to this injury we strictly recommend ceasing athletic activity in the next weeks,” said Dr. Müller-Wohlfahrt.

“Unfortunately, these situations are always possible in individual sports. We all know about the importance of this event for everyone involved, as well as for all boxing fans. Therefore, we are trying everything possible to postpone this fight to a nearby date at the ESPRIT arena in Düsseldorf,” said Bernd Bönte, CEO of Klitschko Management Group.

NORFOLK, VIRGINIA – September 24, 2015 – In the summer of 2014, Dodie Boy Penalosa, Jr. (13-0, 12KO) secured his 13th win, and his 12th by knockout, positioning him perfectly for what his newly inked manager, Cameron Dunkin, hopes will be a successful run for a World Title.

This is how a guy turns into a fighter. He gets in the ring and fights. This is how I want to be moving my fighters. Dodie Boy, Dave Penalosa, John Joe Nevin – they will be on the same track.” said Dunkin. “We want to sign fighters we can move and get into a position to win a title.”

Sullivan Barrera ready to face Beterbiev for the fans

Sullivan Barrera
” I am very sorry to hear that for some reason Artur Beterbiev isn’t willing to fight me in the United States. The biggest fights are here and it’s funny that his last fight was in the U.S. and yet he won’t fight me here.

I’ve been wanting a big fight for years and I am willing to fight Beterbiev knowing that the purse is in his favor 75/25.

If I could travel to Canada I would but I have some legalities that my team is currently in the process of getting cleared up.

Artur, you have fought in the U.S. Don’t let your promoter block you from the fight that so many fans have been asking for. Let’s give the fans what they want, a great fight and the winner gets the opportunity to make history”

Sullivan Barrera (16-0, 11 KOs)

SAMUEL CLARKSON RETURNS TO SHOBOX ON OCT. 23rd TO FACE ONCE-BEATEN LAVARN HARVELL

Brooklyn, N.Y. (Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015) – Uprising Promotions light heavyweight Samuel Clarkson (16-3, 10 KOs) will be returning to ShoBox: The New Generation again on Friday, October 23rd, facing once-beaten Lavarn Harvell (15-1, 8 KOs). The bout will be his second appearance on ShoBox, with his last time being a third round stoppage of highly regarded prospect Jerry Odom in July.

“I feel good,” said Clarkson, who scored a first round knockout of Rayford Johnson a month ago in Texas. “When I get ready for a fight, I go to my spiritual place because my faith is very important to me. We’re training really hard, and I’m just ready to show the world that I’m supposed to be here.”

With his knockout of Johnson in August, Clarkson picked up his third straight stoppage win and sixth overall victory of the past year. In addition to the Odom win, that streak also includes a decision over former world title challenger Cedric Agnew. Ironically, though, it was a hard-fought defeat to super middleweight contender Jesse Hart in 2014 that the Texas native credits with leading him down his recent path of success.

“I fell short when I fought Jesse Hart,” Clarkson reflected. “After that fight, I had to make a decision. It was either fight hard or get out, and I’m a fighter. Win, lose or draw, I’m going to fight. The fight with Odom was not a fluke, and I’m looking to confirm that by making another statement on October 23rd. Even if the knockout doesn’t come, I’m going to brutally beat this guy. That’s how we’re training. Everything we do has been done brutally – running, hitting the bags, sparring, even the diet I put myself through. It’s a brutal sport, and I’m not looking to make any friends. I’m just here to fight for me and my family, and I am looking to brutally hurt this guy.”

Clarkson is a true fighter who is always willing to challenge himself and take risks. Those traits are key reasons why Uprising Promotions President Ronson Frank signed him earlier this year, and they are also instrumental in how he was able to secure his second bout on ShoBox in just three months. Currently the sixth-ranked American light heavyweight, Clarkson fully understands that a win over Harvell keeps him on a rapid pace that will eventually lead to a world championship opportunity.

“My grandmother told me I was going to be here before I could even see it,” he remarked. “Now, I can see it, and I am almost within reaching distance. It feels unbelievable, but it’s still not enough for me. Even when I fought Odom, that was how I felt. Everyone was saying ‘Man, do you realize what you just did?’ But I still felt that I hadn’t done enough. I felt as though I should have done better.

“I have to always push myself hard. After I handle this fight, I’m going to continue to go like I don’t have anything. I’m looking for a world title, and I can’t wait to get into that position. When that time comes, the world will know that I mean what I say, and my team is well prepared for what is coming our way.”

A couple of different locations are currently under consideration for the October 23rd episode of ShoBox: The New Generation, and additional details will be provided once confirmed.

One of the top boxing gate attractions in his native New York, Monaghan (25-0, 16 KOs) will be making his second appearance on truTV this year. He captured the WBC Continental Americas light heavyweight title in 2012 via an eighth-round TKO of Romaro Johnson. BOXING SUPERSTAR CANELO ÁLVAREZ REFLECTS ON THE ROAD TO HBO ON THE ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF HIS EXCLUSIVE DEAL WITH THE NETWORK

Canelo_Alvarez
LOS ANGELES (Sept. 24, 2015)-It was one year ago that Golden Boy Promotions Chairman and CEO Oscar De La Hoya, HBO Sports President Ken Hershman, and Mexican superstar boxer Canelo Álvarez (45-1-1, 32 KOs) hosted a press conference in Los Angeles to announce a major new agreement granting HBO Sports exclusive rights to televise Canelo’s fights in the U.S.

Canelo’s road to HBO was paved by his perseverance and desire to become one of boxing’s best. He has never shied away from fighting the toughest fighters in his quest for greatness, earning the respect of fans, media, and even his rivals. On May 9, 2015, Canelo made his first appearance on HBO Sports since announcing his exclusive deal with the network and secured an impressive victory over the dangerous James “Mandingo Warrior” Kirkland before a crowd of more than 31,000 screaming fans at Minute Maid Park in Houston. Canelo vs. Kirkland registered the highest viewership for an HBO World Championship Boxing event since 2006 generating an average of 2.1 million views for the live airing of the event.

“I am pleased to celebrate my first anniversary with HBO. HBO is my family, and I am glad to be home. Together, we will continue to make history. I look forward to celebrating many anniversaries together with all my family members at Golden Boy Promotions and HBO. I will continue producing the best possible fights for my fans and will blindly dedicate myself to my best performances every time,” Canelo Álvarez said.

“The fans absolutely love Canelo. They are loyal and are the most passionate fans of any fighter in the sport of boxing today. Canelo’s exciting fighting style keeps them coming back, and he works hard to not let them down, both inside and outside of the ring. HBO is the best network for boxing, hands down, so I knew it would be the right home for Canelo and the best way for his fans to see him in action,” said Oscar De La Hoya.

“HBO Sports is thrilled to be the U.S. television home of Canelo Alvarez,” said Ken Hershman, President of HBO Sports. “He is one of the sport’s brightest superstars and our platform is ideally suited to maximize all of his goals and dreams. At only 25 years old he has so many incredibly exciting chapters ahead of him. We at HBO are looking forward to being an integral part of what will be a historic career.”

Canelo is a knockout artist known for his tremendous power and durability against the toughest opponents in the ring who made his professional debut at 15-years-old and quickly became one of the most popular fighters in the sport. His fan base spread quickly in his home country of Mexico as his style captured and enthralled fans. His fan base exploded, crossing the border in to the U.S. and ultimately spreading around the world. Canelo’s good looks and charisma outside the ring attracted a legion of fans from around the world rooting for him every step of the way on his journey to the top.

A former world champion, Canelo is eager to once again hold a title and will get the opportunity again on Saturday, Nov. 21 when he faces reigning WBC, Ring Magazine and Lineal Middleweight World Champion Miguel Cotto in a classic Mexico vs. Puerto Rico rivalry battle. The event will take place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas and will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View. IBF MIDDLEWEIGHT WORLD CHAMPION DAVID LEMIEUX MONTREAL MEDIA WORKOUT QUOTES

David Lemieux
MONTREAL (September 23, 2015) – IBF Middleweight World Champion power-puncher David Lemieux (34-2, 31 KOs) of Montreal, Quebec, Canada held an open to the public media work out at the historic Forum in Montreal today. The Montreal native is set to face WBA, IBO and WBC Interim Middleweight World Champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) in a highly anticipated Middleweight World Championship Title Unification on Saturday, Oct. 17 at the Mecca of Boxing, Madison Square Garden. The championship event will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT.

Oscar De La Hoya, Chairman and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions; Bernard Hopkins, Future Hall of Famer and Golden Boy Promotions Partner and Camille Estephan, President of Eye of the Tiger Management were all in attendance as David entertained the cheering fans and media to a display of his punching power alongside trainer Marc Ramsay. Below are what David, his promoters and team had to say about his upcoming fight against Genneday Golovkin on October 17.

DAVID LEMIEUX, IBF Middleweight World Champion:

“Golovkin has not faced a fighter like me before. I am an aggressive fighter and I am confident in my abilities. I feel that I will be successful on Oct. 17.

“It means a lot to have Oscar and Bernard here with me today. I feel like I am stepping on their footsepts on my way to something great, on my way to become the next great world champion. They are a great example to me, I respect their career and the men they are.”

OSCAR DE LA HOYA, Chairman and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions:

“This is the fight of his life, the one he has been waiting for to take him to the next level. Yes it is not an easy one but is a fight that David can win.

“I feel that with David being a champion and Golovkin being a champion this is a fight all the people will enjoy.

“Everyone is so accustomed to seeing Golovkin be a forward and aggressive boxer, but I don’t think he will do that with David. David will put the pressure on him and it will be an advantage for David.

“This time Golovkin will be in front of David for David to land his big punches. I believe it is going to be easier than N’Dam because of his style. N’Dam was a long range fighter and was using his distance and I believe David will knock out Golovkin.

“GGG has not faced a strong fighter and a smart fighter like David Lemieux in his career.”

CAMILLE ESTEPHAN, President of Eye of The Tiger Management:

“We are prepared and we are looking forward to the 17th. The closer we get to the date the more confident we are.

“David’s training has gone beyond our hopes. He is stronger everyday and I know this is going to be a year for him. He will make his hometown proud on Oct. 17.”

ERIC GOMEZ, Senior Vice President of Golden Boy Promotions:

“All the greats have fought at Madison Square Garden, but here you have two foreigners who will sell out the area.

“There will be 20000 people cheering on David and Gennady, they have transcended borders.”

BERNARD HOPKINS, Future Hall of Famer and Golden Boy Promotions Partner:

“David is a popular fighter he will win over all the fans in New York. They love David in Philly, they love his forward style.”

MARC RAMSAY, Head Trainer for David Lemieux:

“David has been very focused in the gym and has 100% committed to his training for this fight. He is they type of fighter that comes into the gym every day and works at a level above every day.

“David is known for his power in the ring, but he surprises me everyday. That’s good; he is going to surprise a lot of people on Oct. 17.”

ANTHONY UPTON ADDED TO WALSALL BILL

ANTHONY UPTON has been added to the eagerly anticipated Black Country Boxing/ Hatton Promotions show at Banks’s Stadium, Walsall on October 10.

The popular 23-year-old, who is trained by Ricky Hatton, took his unbeaten run to ten this past Saturday (September 19) with a six round points victory over Tottenham’s dangerous Mark McKray and is keen to get back into the ring as quickly as possible.

Originally, he was due to box alongside brothers Pauly and Sonny at York Hall on October 17, but jumped at the chance to fight a week earlier.

“If it was up to me I’d box every week,” he said. “I love showing a crowd what I can do and being in that ring is like a second home to me.

“Obviously, it’s only three weeks from my last fight, but Ricky, Mike Jackson and Blain Younis make sure I’m in the best possible shape and ready to go at any time.

“I’m stepping up to eight rounds and I can’t wait. I think the longer fights will bring out the best in me and it’s only a matter of time before I start boxing for titles.”

Upton dedicated his victory over McKray to the memory of Eamonn Magee Jnr, who was tragically killed in May. Anthony and Magee boxed together as amateurs in Belfast and were close outside of the gym.

Anthony is hoping that his friend will be looking down on him again come October 10.

“Every fight me and my brothers have from now on will be in honour of Eamonn,” Anthony said.

“He was a great guy, a good pal and a brilliant boxer. He would have become a champion, but sadly he was taken from us too soon.

“We had about 300 fans all wearing t-shirts with “RIP Eamonn” written them at the weekend and I hope they’ll be out in force again next month. I know he’s up there smiling because he can see how much everyone loves him.”

Pacquiao to fight between February and April

Pacquiao_Mayweather_weighin_150501_001a
According to Dan Rafael of espn.com, Manny Pacquiao should return to the ring sometime between February and April and his promoter Bob Arum has five names in mind for the comeback fight.

“Manny will be fighting next year,” Arum said. “I think everything will be good for him to fight by February. He can probably start training by the end of this year. We’ll let the doctor tell us when. I thought maybe Manny would fight one or two more times, and when I said that, Manny corrected me. He said he wants to keep fighting.”

“Manny said his shoulder is fine, but that is not good enough for me,” Arum said. “He’s supposed to have an MRI in Manila, I think later this week, and is supposed to have it sent to Dr. ElAttrache to examine it. But Manny said he feels good.”

Said Michael Koncz, Pacquiao’s adviser: “Manny is in the Philippines doing charity work and working in Congress. His shoulder is healing well, but he won’t fight again this year. The doctor says nothing this year. But Manny wants to go in late February or March.”

“He’s not going to run for re-election to congress. Instead, he’s running for senate, and in the Philippines, the senate is a national election. So he wants to fight and then concentrate on the campaign. It’s very important to him,” Arum said. “I’ve spoken to Manny a couple of times [recently], and he is more interested in talking politics than boxing.”

The list includes leading candidate Amir Khan, a former unified junior welterweight titlist and top welterweight contender, welterweight titleholder Kell Brook, junior welterweight titlist Terence Crawford, junior welterweight contender Lucas Matthysse and Juan Manuel Marquez, the Mexican great Pacquiao has waged four outstanding fights against, going 2-1-1 but finishing the fourth fight on his face as the result of a gargantuan sixth-round knockout in December 2012.

“If Manny fights Khan, Khan will probably bring 3,000 or 4,000 people over from the U.K. for the fight,” Arum said.

“We won’t deal with Haymon. We deal directly with family about fighting Manny Pacquiao,” said Arum, who was able to work with Haymon to make the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight, although it was extremely difficult and before the lawsuit was filed.

“We want to know for sure the status of Juan Manuel Marquez before we make any decisions,” Arum said. “Fernando is meeting with him to see what he wants to do. His knee appears to be 100 percent. Fernando told me he sparred a few rounds recently to test it out. Marquez would be the most lucrative fight, and Manny would be happy to fight him again.”

Said Koncz: “Amir Khan I think is the best choice for the fans, and Brook is the second choice.”

“I like the United States. What are we schlepping around the word for,” Arum said. “We had great deals in Macau before, but you lose so much of the [American] pay-per-view going there [because of the time difference].”

Arum said he has had offers to do a Pacquiao fight in the Middle East, in a location such as Dubai, but “those deals are always built on sand, as they say. We have plenty of interest in Las Vegas.”

JULIAN WILLIAMS GETS FIRST ROUND KNOCKOUT OVER LUCIANO CUELLO ON PREMIER BOXING CHAMPIONS ON FS1 AND FOX DEPORTES FROM SANDS BETHLEHEM EVENT CENTER IN BETHLEHEM, PA

Julian Williams
Bethlehem, PA (September 22, 2015) – The main event of Premier Boxing Champions on FS1 and FOX Deportes showcased Julian Williams (21-0-1, 13 KOs) as he knocked out Luciano Cuello (35-4, 17 KOs) in the very first round of their contest. At the one minute 33-second mark of the first round Williams proved too much for Cuello.

The opening televised bout featured Mexico’s Moises Flores (24-0, 17 KOs) in an action-packed brawl against Argentina’s Luis Cusolito (21-2, 19 KOs). During a battle that allowed both fighters to appear in control at times, Flores managed to withstand 11 rounds of damage and sealed the deal with a 12th round knockout over Cusolito.

Caleb Plant (10-0, 8 KOs) went the distance in the second televised bout and secured a unanimous decision (80-71, 79-72, 80-71) victory over Jamar Freeman (13-5-2, 7 KOs).

Here is what the televised fighters had to say about their performances:

JULIAN WILLIAMS

“I may be the fastest super welterweight in the world, and I’m accurate enough to hit guys when I want to.

“I knew I was getting to him early and I just stayed vicious. It was a straight right that I landed on him to end things. I saw his left eye bubble up immediately.

“I’ve fought undefeated prospects and former champions. I’ll fight anybody. I don’t hate (Austin) Trout at all. He’s just higher ranked than me and one of the guys in my way.”

LUCIANO CUELLO

“It was a right to the head that ended things. I felt my eye closing up. I felt like I might have been able to continue, but my balance was a little thrown off after he landed the right to my left eye.

“I disagreed with the stoppage when I was in the moment, but I’ll go back and watch the fight to take another look at it.

“I’ve fought some great fighters in my career, and Williams is as strong as any of them.

MOISES FLORES

“I won this fight because of how I prepared. This was all about my preparation and dedication in the gym. I left my home in Mexico and went to Miami for 10 weeks to train for this fight. We didn’t do exactly what we planned, but my conditioning helped me get through this battle tonight.

“I’m very happy to get this interim title, but I want a shot at Leo Santa Cruz next. I’ll go up to 126 pounds to make that happen if he wants.

“This was a huge jump for me being on a PBC card and fighting on FS1 and FOX Deportes. Great fighters get this honor and it feels wonderful to be a part of a card like this.”

EMANUEL CUSOLITO

“I hurt my hand in the second round.

“He is a very strong champion. I was fighting hard but the ref thought I had taken too many punches. I could have continued. He is a great champion though. I want to come back and show my skills and heart to my fans from Argentina.

“I thought in several rounds, I was going to knock him out, but maybe I was over confident. He has a great chin.”

CALEB PLANT

“I was relaxed and composed in there tonight. I had him hurt so I pressed him more, but he’s a tough fighter.

“I dropped him in the third with a left hook, and so I used that as a opportunity to pursue him more, but he hung tough.

“This is a blessing to be a part of what Al (Haymon) is doing for boxing. Brining it back to free TV is huge. To be involved in something like this so early in my career helps me get great exposure.”

JAMAR FREEMAN

“”I couldn’t find my rhythm. I got to him a few times but I didn’t let my hands go.

“I am a natural 154 pound fighter, so he was able to walk me down and walk right through my punches. His power did not get to me at all though.

“Caleb is a good fighter. He can go a long way as long as he stays focused. He has real good timing.”
