“THE RECONQUEST” KIM CLAVEL VS. NAOMI REYES April 28 at Place Bell in Laval, Canada TICKETS GO ON SALE TONIGHT

LAVAL, Quebec, Canada (March 16, 2023) — Montreal’s Kim Clavel (16-0-1, 3KO) will step back into the ring to take on Naomi “La Chapita” Arellano Reyes (9-2-0, 5KO), of Los Angeles, for the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) International Flyweight Championship on April 28, at Place Bell in Laval. The vacant WBC international flyweight title will be on the line as confirmed by the WBC. We have also requested sanctions for the division’s IBF Inter-Continental and WBO Inter-Continental titles as well. Verbal confirmation has been obtained and we expect to receive the required sanctions confirmation within the next few hours.

This will be the first fight for Clavel, 32, since the incredible clash this past of January 13 against World Boxing Association (WBA) world champion Yesica Nery Plata (29-2-0, 3KO), which the popular Canadian lost by decision in her first WBC title defense.

April 28th will mark the start of Clavel’s “RECONQUEST”, who intends to prove herself again by positioning her for a rematch with Plata as quickly as possible. She is presently ranked as the WBC #1, WBO #3 and IBF #4 contender.

Clavel is more motivated than ever, saying: “I want to regain my world title, but I will take it one  fight at a time. We will reposition ourselves in the rankings. I’m going to need all of Quebec behind me. I’m confident with my team, my perseverance and all of you that, by the end of the year, we’ll get more than just a world champion belt! Thank you for your eternal support.”

Originally from Nayarit, Mexico, Reyes now lives and trains in Los Angeles, California. The 28-year-old Reyes is renowned for her power as evidenced by her 5 knockout victories to date. Her most notable win was versus former multiple time world champion Carina Moreno (25-7-0, 6KO) in 2020. In her last outing last October,  Reyes lost by decision against Gabriela Fundura (8-0-0, 4KO) for the WBC Latino flyweight title in a PBC event broadcast on Showtime.

Clavel and Reyes were supposed to face each other in August 2021 at the IGA Stadium, but the latter had to withdraw due to health restrictions to enter Canada, and she was replaced by Maria Vargas (14-4-1, 1KO).

“It is with great enthusiasm and confidence that we are relaunching Kim with the ultimate goal of allowing her to avenge her defeat and regain her world title,” said GYM President Yvon Michel. “We remember the great intense and passionate fight between the two champions last January. Besides, the latter is still in the running for the 2023 Fight of the Year! The 4,000 spectators at Place Bell are still excited. To return to the world championship, Kim must prove herself again and these international titles will allow her to become a must challenger for the champion.”

Tickets will go on sale this evening (Thursday, March 16) at 9:00 p.m. ET on www.evenko.ca and directly at GYM at info@groupeyvonmichel.ca.

CODY CROWLEY TRAINING CAMP QUOTES

LAS VEGAS – March 16, 2023 – Undefeated welterweight contender Cody Crowley will look to further cement his place in the star-studded welterweight division when he takes on veteran Abel Ramos in the SHOWTIME PPV telecast opener on Saturday, March 25 in a Premier Boxing Champions event from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The pay-per-view telecast begins at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT and will be headlined by super middleweight rivals David “The Mexican Monster” Benavidez and Caleb Plant in a long-awaited matchup between former world champions.

Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by TGB Promotions and Sampson Boxing, are on sale now and can be purchased HERE through AXS.com.

The 29-year-old Crowley (21-0, 9 KOs) is a native of Peterborough, Ontario, Canada but trains in Las Vegas with longtime coach Ibn Cason as he continues his ascent in the 147-pound division. After impressively dispatching the previously unbeaten Kudratillo Abdukakhorov and rugged contender Josesito Lopez in his last two outings, Crowley hopes to take advantage of another opportunity on one of boxing’s biggest stages.

Here is what Crowley had to say about training camp, Ramos and more:

On what he’s shown the boxing world with his most recent wins:

“With my last two wins broadcast on SHOWTIME® and SHOWTIME PPV, I proved to the world that I’m an elite fighter. I belong in every conversation regarding the welterweight division. I earned the right to challenge for the welterweight championship of the world.”

On where he can still improve as a fighter:

“As a fighter, there is always room for improvement. I’m an all-around fighter. I can box, I can punch, I can take a punch and I can outthink any opponent who is in front of me. Improvement will come as I am able to get more activity and not deal with as much ring rust. Improvement will also come as the stakes in each fight are raised.”

On his opponent, Abel Ramos:

“Abel Ramos is a solid fighter. I believe that he is coming to fight and will be very aggressive. But, he is now in the ring with an extremely hungry fighter. As the fight progresses, I will discover the holes in his style. With my non-stop aggression, I will suffocate anything he’s trying to do.”

On where he stands in the welterweight division:

“I truly believe that I am one of the top three welterweight fighters in the world. The only ones ahead of me are Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford. Fighting either of them, I can then prove to be the best in the world. I believe that I can beat either of them, because I’m younger and hungrier. There is no one who can keep up with my relentless attack and determination in the ring.

“Right now, I believe that I’m better than any of the other contenders. It’s time to fight for the world title. It’s time to fight Errol Spence Jr.”

On fighting in memory of his late father:

“Dedicating this fight and my career to honor my father’s memory means everything to me. He was and still is my greatest fan. He pushed me to succeed. He believed in me when there was nobody else. Becoming welterweight champion of the world is our dream.

“With my father’s passing, I started ‘55 for 55’ to raise funds and awareness for suicide prevention. It is my goal to help people and save lives with this program and for it to be another way of honoring his memory.”

Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez predicts he will KO Gabe Rosado & go on to become 4-division world champion

LAS VEGAS (March 16, 2023) –- “Zurdo” Ramirez has a definitive plan!

?

It all starts this Saturday when the former World Super Middleweight Champion returns to headline another DAZN card, matched against two-time world title challenger Gabriel “King” Rosado (26-16-1, 15 KOs) in the 12-round main event.

Promoted by Golden Boy Promotions in association with Zurdo Promotions, the white-hot event will be streamed live on DAZN (8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT) The Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California.

“Zurdo” is predicting a knockout victory, although he’s not taking Rosado lightly. He personally knows the Philadelphia native now living in Los Angeles and “Zurdo” has sparred with Rosado in the past. Rosado has fought a Who’s Who of opponents, notching wins over two world champions, Joshua Clottey and Kassim Ouma. Rosado has also fought monsters such as Gennadiy Golovkin, Jaime Munguia, Daniel Jacobs, David Lemieux, Jermell Charlo, and Peter Quillin.

“It (Rosado’s quality experience) means a lot and I respect him,” Ramirez said. “I know Rosado and he can be dangerous for any fighter. And the Mexico (Ramirez) versus Puerto Rico (Rosado) rivalry means a lot, too. Historically there have been some amazing fights throughout history between boxers from these two countries. Everyone knows that, when it’s Mexico versus Puerto Rico, it’s going to be an entertaining fight.”

“Zurdo” is reloading after he suffered the first loss of his professional career 13 1/2-year professional boxing career last November to WBA Super Light Heavyweight World Champion Dmitry Bivol by way of a decision.

“My plan is to win,” Ramirez explained. “I’m looking forward to getting back to my winning ways. I predict a KO win in this fight. Everyone knows that I’m game for any fight. Anyone in the division: Artur Beterbiev, Callum Smith, Joe Smith, Joshua Buatsi, Marcus Brown, or a rematch with Bivol.

“My goals remain the same. I’m still chasing that light heavyweight world title, then I will move up to cruiserweight and heavyweight. My goal is to become a 4-division world champion!.”

FULL CARD CONFIRMED FOR ARTHUR WORLD TITLE FIGHT ON CHANNEL 5

Free-to-air boxing is back with a bang as Lyndon Arthur faces a world title showdown live and exclusive on Channel 5, in association with Ladbrokes and Infinitum Entertainment.

‘King’ Arthur clashes with Argentinian KO artist Braian Nahuel Suarez for the vacant IBO World Light Heavyweight crown, on Friday March 24 at the University of Bolton Stadium.

And as well as bringing world title action to your screens, Wasserman Boxing have also delivered an undercard that packs a serious punch.

Supporting Arthur’s crack at world title glory, is a must-see show crammed with 50-50 fights, domestic scraps you don’t want to miss and a host of local, national and international stars.

Arthur knows that by seeing off the dangerous Suarez, and taking home the IBO title once held by the great Roy Jones Jr, he will open the door to some huge fights in a lethal light heavyweight division and be in position to deliver the fights that fans want to see.

The Manchester hero’s world title shot will kick-off Channel 5’s live and free coverage from 10pm and then be followed by a domestic dust-up that cannot fail to ignite.

Kane Gardner will have home support when he tackles Wolverhampton’s Conah Walker over eight rounds, with a firecracker of an eight rounder expected.

Both super lightweight contenders know a statement victory, in front of a massive audience on Channel 5, can catapult them into title contention, so expect both men to leave everything in the ring.

The future of women’s boxing, Chloe Watson, then follows when she takes on Argentina’s Romina Sosa over six rounds.

Trained by Ricky Hatton, the formidable flyweight has built a perfect record since leaving the Great Britain amateur set-up for the pro ranks, and so bet on her to serve up yet another sizzling display on the big stage.

Wigan warrior James Moorcroft and Liverpool’s bang-in-form Nathan Bennett collide in an English Welterweight title final eliminator, just before the main event. This promises to be a blood and guts affair with a title shot being dangled in front of these popular and proud 147 lbs fighters.

Destructive Kazak puncher Sultan Zaurbek will go hunting a 10th knockout win of his pro career in Bolton, when he squares off against Facundo Acre, over eight rounds.

The super featherweight southpaw – highly ranked by a number of the world’s sanctioning bodies – is expected to put on another devastating display in Bolton next week.

Germany’s unbeaten middleweight star Denis Radovan makes his UK debut as part of the stacked undercard. The IBF European champion holds wins over North West favourites Luke Blackledge and Brian Rose on his impressive CV, but hopes to win a new army of local fans this time, by putting on a show against former European title challenger Fouad El Massoudi.

The former European and WBC interim world super featherweight champion, Katharina Thanderz continues to work her way back to the top, with a six rounder in Bolton.

Thanderz, from Norway but based in Spain, battled England’s Terri Harper for the IBO and WBC belts in 2020 and the 34-year-old is ready to start making inroads at lightweight.

Thanderz faces the unbeaten and confident Ioana Fecioru over six rounds.

Unbeaten Stockport middleweight Niall Brown faces Manchester’s Bahadur Karami in a derby scrap over six rounds. Brown has established a perfect 7-0 record and will have eyes on climbing the domestic rankings – but knows he cannot afford to slip-up against his local rival.

Manchester prospect Bobby Faulker hasn’t lost a round so far as a professional and hopes to extend his flawless start to the paid ranks in Bolton, in a scheduled four rounder.

Salford lightweight Alex Murphy bolsters the local contingent, by boxing for the seventh time as a pro.

Big support is expected for the professional debut of Mancunian welter Ashley Marron.  Marron will face Birmingham’s Daryl Pearce over four rounds to kick-start his journey.

The Wasserman Boxing card is bolstered by another international star, with the UK debut of Denmark’s Oliver Zaren. Zaren, a 7-0 middleweight southpaw, is highly-rated and squares off against Croatia’s Frane Radnic over six rounds at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Lyndon Arthur vs Braian Suarez, for the IBO World Light Heavyweight Title is live and free-to-air on Channel 5 at 10pm on Friday, March 24.

Tickets are available via WassermanBoxing.com

BACK AND LOOKING TO MAKE A STATEMENT, JARRELL MILLER PLANS ON STOPPING LUCAS BROWNE QUICKLY IN THEIR HEAVYWEIGHT WAR THIS SAT. MARCH 18 IN DUBAI

DUBAI – March 16, 2023 – Outspoken and undefeated New Yorker Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller says he’s going to take former WBA (Regular) Heavyweight Champion Lucas “Big Daddy” Browne out quickly this Saturday, March 18, to prevent the big Australian from landing any late-round magic against him.

WBA #10 Miller (25-0-1, 21 KOs) and WBA #9 Browne (31-3, 27 KOs) will meet at Agenda arena in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in the 10-round main event of a stellar show presented by Anatoly Sulyanov of Hardcore Boxing that also features a 10-round super featherweight co-main event between Dublin Ireland’s WBA #5- and IBF #11-rated former world title challenger Jono “King Kong” Carroll (23-2-1, 7 KOs) and three-time world title challenger Miguel “The Scorpion” Marriaga (30-6, 26 KOs).

Also broadcast that night will be a 10-round cruiserweight battle between fast-tracking former amateur star Soslan “Cobra” Asbarov (3-0, 1 KO) of Chapaevo and once-beaten American Brandon Glanton (17-1, 14 KOs).

Retaining his gift for great quotes after four years of inactivity, Miller, a former WBO-NABO and WBA-NABA Champion, had plenty to say about his upcoming fight, as well as about other top heavyweights and on his own personal growth through the many challenges he faced during his down time.

On Training Camp:

Training was great. This was my first official training camp (since returning). I didn’t have everything I wanted in this camp, because I was kind of getting a rhythm and organizing things. I’ve been out of the game for a while. By next camp, I will know how I like things again.

On Lucas Browne:

He’s a big guy. He’s durable for a certain number of rounds and has a good overhand right. But technically and fundamentally, he’s nowhere near me. I know I’m stronger. I know I’m faster. I‘m younger. I have an amazing jab. My IQ in boxing is phenomenal. Everything he does, I do a million times better. But he’s game. That’s all that matters in the fight game. One punch in the heavyweight division anything can happen, so I did not sleep on him.

How He Sees the Browne Fight Unfolding:

I’m thinking it will go four rounds or less. I’m not trying to play with him and I’m not going to give him an opportunity to land that right hand. He fought Junior Fa and Junior didn’t realize what he walked into. I see him as a slow starter who gets beat up a lot and then in seven or eight rounds, he lands a right hand that gets guys out of there. My goal is to not let it go 10 rounds. I got head movement and a good, stiff jab. Once I get him hurt, I will go in there and send him home. I’m definitely going to knock him out in the early rounds of the fight. It could be a combination or just one punch, but I know I’m going to stop him.

On His Continued Weight Loss:

For my last fight, I came in at 340. I’m down to 325. I look a lot leaner than 325, but I’ve been relearning my body over again. I’m a couple years older now and I’m relearning how to eat and diet. I feel amazing. I never was a drinker, and I don’t smoke at all, so I’m just learning what to put in my body now that I’m a little older. I’ve learned how to eat clean for myself.

Is He the Same Fighter He Was Four Years Ago?

Honestly, I don’t 100% know the answer to that. This is the first game opponent I have fought (in the last four years). I still talk shit and back it up, but am I the same fighter? No. I don’t think so. I think every year, a person evolves. You have to become a little different and a little better.

What Did He Learn During His Four Years Away:

I think mentally I have learned how to let certain things go. I’ve learned how to read people differently; I have a better understanding with myself spiritually in a way. I’ve gone through other struggles away from boxing, outside the ring. Dealing with a divorce, not seeing my kids, so the hunger is still there (to fight). I just need to be realistic with myself, know when to criticize myself and know what I need to work on. Being a better human being of course, but understanding what my strengths are what my weaknesses are. This fight is going to show me what I need to work on, but at the same time I’m going in for the kill regardless.

They say you can never be a man if you’ve never gone through adversity in your life and I’ve always gone through so much outside of boxing. (The failed drug tests) That’s probably the first issue I’ve gone through in boxing. It taught me a lot about the people I had in my corner and the people I really thought had my back. I had to really stand on my feet firm and really believe in myself and have faith in God that I could come through anything.

I’ve got a great team now, including my long-time promoter Greg Cohen who is here with me, and I’m ready to get what’s mine.

On Anthony Joshua Not Being Who People Once Thought He Was:

I’m good at reading people. I said that Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing did a great job of marketing him and selling him this whole BS story of who he was. But I can read people. I knew he was full of shit and after I pushed him, he was never the same. Andy (Ruiz) kind of took advantage of that and he did what he did. Now it’s my turn to get what I’ve lost.

On Heavyweight Prospect Jared Anderson Calling Himself ‘The Real Big Baby.’

I think it’s cute, but anybody that has to call themself “The Real Big Baby,” that should tell all they got to say. That’s corny as hell. ‘I’m the real Anthony Joshua!’ You know what I mean? Trying to be the person you’re not. He did that on purpose too. He’s younger and I got way more experience. Everybody knows I’m the original Big Baby and there’s only one Big Baby.

He (Anderson) ain’t fighting nobody. They want to fight cruiserweights. He’s calling out Andrew Tabiti. The guy is not even a real heavyweight. That tells you the kind of enthusiasm behind this guy and the belief they have in him.

Is He Looking To Fight Anderson Soon?

Not yet. Listen, if they… I would love to fight him. I’ll fight him right now. I’ll fight him tomorrow if they really want to talk that game, but I know him, and his team don’t want none of that smoke at all. I know his manager James Prince will tell him to stay away from ‘The One and Only Big Baby.’ I think the time for that will come, but if they want it, I’ll definitely give them smoke.

On Fury vs. Usyk:

A lot of people are saying that Tyson is going to beat him up and it’s going to be a one-way fight. First of all, this is boxing. What I can tell you is this. I’m a big fan of Tyson. Me and him talk our regular boxing BS, but if I take my biased opinion out of it, anybody that knows how to box gives Tyson a problem and Usyk is a real technical boxer. So, I don’t see it being a one-sided fight. I think it will be a very technical fight. I don’t think it will be super exciting, but I don’t think it will be a one-sided fight. I do tilt more toward Tyson because he’s a bigger guy and he can be aggressive at times, but I think it will be a lot closer than what people are making it seem.

His Goals for The Future:

My main thing right now is I want to punch Anthony Joshua in the face. That fight needs to still happen. I’m hoping he gets past Jermaine (Franklin). Hopefully we can get it on after this fight. I want to retire him. I want to break his will and his heart, his brain, his eye socket. And I still want to break his nose. That would definitely be the fight I want. But, if not, Daniel Dubois and his team have expressed interest in fighting. I would definitely fight him right after this for the WBA Regular title. Those are the only two fights I really care about, Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua.

I am destined to be heavyweight champ of the world, hands down. Period. I just have to stay focused, stay relaxed and be my rambunctious, loud, dynamic self. I got to be me.

On Sparring with Tyson Fury:

Sparring with Tyson taught me I knew where I still stand in this game. Tyson said he dropped me seven times, that’s BS. More like the other way around. I clocked him with some shit.

On Being in Dubai:

I’m loving Dubai. I’ve been a big believer in the Muslim religion for many years. My trainer when I was a kid in the amateurs, he always wanted me to convert and learn more about the culture. Being out here, I’ve been at peace. I see a lot of my friends have moved out here. Just being in a relaxed state of mind and able to focus.

Lastly, On Deontay Wilder:

Wilder is not the same person, mentally. He still has that wonderful, powerful right hand, but there are definitely some kinks in his armor I see. When you believe all the things people around you are telling you and then someone teaches you they’re full of shit, it’s hard for you to believe it. He was talking about how he’s Mike Tyson and a god and a killer and now he sees he’s not that. It was time for him to come off his high horse. Reality teaches you who men are when they are tested. Deontay still has a right hand that could put you to sleep though.

ATTENTION FANS IN DUBAI: Tickets to attend “Hardcore Boxing in Dubai” live can be purchased with cash, Unionpay and Mir cards at the Platinumlist office from 11:00 to 18:00 (Weekdays) at Office 413, 4th floor, Building 4, The Greens, Emaar Business Park, Dubai or online by clicking HERE.

Several more matches are scheduled between local and international prospects and their worthy opponents. On fight night, there is no smoking, parking is available, and no cameras are permitted in the arena.

NEWCASTLE NXTGEN PUBLIC WORKOUT QUOTES

Cyrus Pattinson – Alnwick, England – 5-0, 3 KOs – fighting Chris Jenkins for the vacant WBA International Welterweight Title:

“I’m really excited to headline my first show in Newcastle. Preparations couldn’t have gone any better. It has kind of gone full circle; I was meant to make my professional debut at the Utilita Arena but we’re five fights in now and opponent number six is Chris Jenkins. It’s special to be headlining at the arena. I want to test myself and I don’t want easy fights. Chris was the best name that Matchroom brought to the table. No risk no reward. He had a close tight fight with Tyrone McKenna and a lot of people thought it went the other way. I think he was winning the fight with Florian Marku too. I expect the best, and I want the best, Chris Jenkins. That is what I have trained for. He always brings the heat and he never comes to just make up the numbers. It’s going to be a very entertaining fight. My focus is solely on winning. Any way possible, that’s all I’m thinking about. I can see myself winning in any way. We will see what happens on the night. I just take things one fight at a time. I just focus on one fight at a time. That’s all that matters. After every fight we take a look to see which direction we’re going to go in. I think every fight that I’ve had has been a step up – especially my last few. I’m 29 next month and I want to keep pressing and pushing to see how far I can go and just enjoy the ride.”

Solomon Dacres – Birmingham, England – 5-0, 1 KO – fighting Robert Ismay for the vacant English Heavyweight Title:

“He was just giving it the usual at the workout – ‘you’re going to get knocked out, you’re going to get put to sleep, blah blah blah’. He’s giving it the large one now but it’s all just bravado. You can expect a great performance from me on Saturday. I thrive under these conditions. I train exceptionally hard all of the time. I’ve been sparring top guys like Tyson Fury – I’ve been in his camp. I like to get away and spar so I’m comfortable when I come to fight night. I go in a lot of people’s training camps to spar – top guys like Fury, Joe Joyce and Joseph Parker. It’s another day at the office for me and I’m just really looking forward to putting on a great performance. I don’t think the sparring partners will be the difference in this fight but they will set me apart. I think I have a lot more attributes that make me a level above him anyway. The sparring partners are just another edge to my game where I’ve got top level sparring from the amateurs on Team GB. I think I’ve got all of the advantages going into this. I’m ready for whatever the next progression is after this fight. English to British is a natural progression. I’d love to fight for the British Title, definitely in the next 12 months – that’s my goal anyway. Last year that was my goal, to box for the British Title within 18 months. It’s something I’m looking forward to. Whoever has it, if Fabio Wardley has it or it’s vacant – it’ll be a big dust up whatever it is.

Hopey Price – Leeds, England – 9-0, 3 KOs – fighting Thomas Masson for the vacant WBA Continental Super-Bantamweight Title:

“I’m feeling good and I’m ready to go. I’m chomping at the bit for Saturday night now. I’m in there with a former European Champion and a former World Title challenger. He’s been there and he’s done it, but he’s never been in there with anyone like me. I always say don’t let my baby face fool you. I look young, but this is what I’m in the sport to do. Fighting guys like these, these are the sort of steps that I need to take to get where I want to be. I don’t want to be a World Title challenger; I want to be a World Champion. This is a step in the right direction to fight this type of opponent. He’s 30-odd, he’s tough, he’s durable and he’s been there and done it and seen it all. I’m looking forward to it. It’s time to shine. I’ve been with Matchroom from the beginning of my career and I’m happy to continue working with them. With them behind me this year it’ll really push me on. I’m looking to be one of the best prospects in world boxing by the end of the year. Hopefully after this NXTGEN event here in Newcastle we can go to Leeds later in the year and I can top a NXTGEN show at the First Direct Arena. The future is bright for the Super-Bantamweight division, there’s a lot of young talent coming through. All that means is we’re all going to get paid well, there’ some big domestic dust ups to come in the future. I’ll fight anyone. I won’t call any of them out but I’ll fight every single one of them – that’s just how I am. It’s better for us to have so many options around the same weight. The belts will swap and change won’t they. I believe that the Leeds fans are the best in the world, they really get behind their own. It’s always bouncing there and I want to continue those big nights in Leeds. Get this belt won and then in the future we’ll look to have another big fight back in Leeds.”

Callum French – Gateshead, England – 3-0, 1 KO – fighting Jordan Ellison in an eight round Lightweight contest:

“I’m chuffed to be fighting in Newcastle – home sweet home. Today I’m back in Gateshead for the Public Workout at the Metrocentre and we’re at the Utilita Arena on Saturday. It has been a dream of mine to box there since I was a kid so I’m looking forward to Saturday night. Knowing that I’m fighting in Newcastle has given me that extra little push in training. Obviously all of my friends and family are going to be there so it’s a bit different to boxing in those sports halls in Romania and Uzbekistan. It’s going to be nice to box in front of a home crowd. I’d already boxed in the WSB which was 5 rounds, so I had five of them fights so I was straight up to six rounds for my debut. Now it’s 8 rounders and then we’ll push on. I want to build some momentum this year. I had a bit of a nightmare last year – I was meant to fight in December on the Josh Warrington card but that got pulled at the last minute. I want to build some momentum over the next couple of months. Graeme Rutherford is the man behind the magic at Birtley. Not just in the boxing sense but he guides us through life as well. As a boxing coach he has helped me in and out of the ring. He’s taken us all over the country and helped us improve as a person. He’s taken us to work with him. He’s been a father figure to us all and a massive figure in the community of Birtley as well. He’s taken kids off the street and given them an option and a chance.”

DAVID BENAVIDEZ AND CALEB PLANT MEDIA WORKOUTS QUOTES

LAS VEGAS – March 15, 2023 – Undefeated former two-time WBC Super Middleweight Champion David “The Mexican Monster’’ Benavídez and former IBF Super Middleweight Champion Caleb Plant held separate media workouts on Tuesday to preview their high-stakes, 12-round showdown headlining live on SHOWTIME PPV on Saturday, March 25 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas in an event presented by Premier Boxing Champions.

Benavídez held his media workout at his gym in the Seattle area, while Plant showed off his skills in Las Vegas with just over a week until they meet in the ring on fight night.

Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by TGB Promotions and Sampson Boxing, are on sale now and can be purchased HERE through AXS.com.

Benavidez was joined by stablemate and lightweight contender Jose Valenzuela, who faces Chris Colbert on the pay-per-view undercard, and his father and trainer Jose Benavidez Sr at Benavidez Sports Boxing Gym in Burien, Washington. Plant’s workout also included his renowned trainer Stephen “Breadman” Edwards as they hosted media at DLX Boxing in Plant’s adopted hometown of Las Vegas.

Here is what the workout participants had to say Tuesday:

DAVID BENAVIDEZ

“Some people don’t understand that I’m the most accurate puncher in this weight class. I’ve had 23 knockouts in 26 fights. I’ve hurt every man I’ve been in the ring with and Caleb Plant is no different.

“You can see that every time Caleb is in the ring with a power puncher, he’s not comfortable. He beat Jose Uzcategui but he was hurt in the fight and then Canelo hurt him. Even Anthony Dirrell hit him with good shots, and he’s not a hitter like that.

“I’ve got the power and I feel like I’m faster. I just have to get my feet in the right position, because he’s going to be moving a lot. I think he has a little bit more confidence after beating Dirrell though, so we’ll see if he wants to trade with me.

“Every time I step into this gym I give my all. I’ve got a great team here with me. Everybody has done their part and made me feel comfortable. I’m just so motivated by the people who think that I can’t handle a boxer and I’m ready to prove them wrong.

“I’m a big guy and I throw punches in bunches. I’m ready to mix it up in there. Every question you all have will be answered on March 25.

“My jab is better than Caleb’s. He doesn’t really have a power jab, but I hurt people with my jab. I’ve cut eyelids open with it. I’m very comfortable in there. At the end of the day, what is he gonna do when he has to sit there and fight? I’m gonna get him on the ropes. It’s a matter of when, not if.

“Emotion, especially anger, is a great motivator to train. The people who are telling me not to be emotional, haven’t laced up the gloves before. I couldn’t be more ready. I leave all my emotions outside of the ring when it’s time to go to work.

“This is pay-per-view and we’re giving the people what they want to see. I’m ready to give the people whatever they want. This is the most confident I’ve ever been because this is the hardest I’ve ever worked. That’s why I’ve been calling for these big fights, because I’ve known since I was a little kid sparring world champions that when I’m put in an uncomfortable situation, the best comes out of me.”

CALEB PLANT

“The key to this fight is just being myself. That’s what’s getting my hand raised. I’m hungry for this. This is a big moment and a moment I’ve worked a long time to reach. I’m going to make the most of it.

“I feel really good. Last camp we brought in ‘Breadman’ and we had a lot of great chemistry with the whole team. He’s easy to get along with and he just expects me to work hard. That’s right up our alley and that’s what we like to do. He brought some of that Philly grit with him and helped reiterate a lot of things that my dad [co-trainer Richie Plant] had been trying to instill in me.

“Different people handle things in different ways. I’m cool, calm and collected. I’m focused and I’ve had a great camp. We’re going into this fight 100%. I can only speak for my team, but we’re ready to handle business.

“If Benavidez wants to come forward, then he should just handle his business how he sees fit. That’s what I’m going to do on March 25. We’re going to get in there, roll the dice and see what happens.

“My power has always been there but I’ve been getting more back to my roots. ‘Breadman’ and my dad have a lot of similarities in how they want me to box and train. With some of it, I’m getting back to my old ways, but it’s combined with the new things that ‘Breadman’ is bringing to the table and teaching me.

“This is one of the biggest fights that can be made in boxing and I’m just looking forward to everyone being a part of it.

“I’d love to right a wrong and get the rematch with Canelo Alvarez, but right now I’m just focused on the fight in front of me. Nothing happens until business is handled March 25.”

JOSE VALENZUELA

“I learned from my mistakes and I’m gonna come back right. Chris Colbert is a smart fighter and I think it’s a perfect matchup for this card.

“I know what I did wrong and I accepted it. I have to keep moving forward. I’ve got a great team around me and we stayed positive.

“I wasn’t looking for an easy way out coming in off a loss. I didn’t get here the easy way, so I’m going to keep doing it the hard way.

“I’m gonna be bringing in a new set of skills. I’m ready to show the cat-like reflexes. I’ll be on my toes fighting intelligently. I’m gonna be sharp.

“I think David is going to stop Caleb around the eighth round. He’s got the skills, the heart and the determination to finish the fight.”

JOSE BENAVIDEZ SR., Benavidez’s Father and Trainer

“This training camp is very special because our whole family has been together. It’s super special and we’re super motivated. It’s a great atmosphere here.

“We’re training hard not just to win the fight, but to look spectacular and get to even bigger fights. I believe that David is gonna stop Caleb Plant in the eighth or ninth round.”

STEPHEN “BREADMAN” EDWARDS, Plant’s Trainer

“It’s going to take a great fighter to win this fight on March 25. I believe Caleb has the potential to become a great fighter and March 25 will help determine that.

“Caleb’s ability to absorb information really translates well in the ring. Both of these guys are in their prime and there’s a lot at stake. You have to be great to win a fight like this. This fight has a little bit of Oscar De La Hoya vs. Felix Trinidad and Floyd Mayweather vs. Diego Corrales. Caleb being the Oscar and Floyd and David being the Corrales and Trinidad.

“When it comes to the relationship Caleb and I have, we didn’t have to work hard to get chemistry, it just came. I like the way he goes about things and vice versa. He was willing to listen. He’s a hard worker and very organized and has a strong support system. He does what he needs to do. I don’t have to pull teeth with him. All I have to do is coach to his strengths.”

DANE GUERRERO SET TO MAKE HIS PRO-DEBUT IN BERGEN COUNTY FIGHT NIGHT 3 SATURDAY NIGHT APRIL 1ST AT THE TERRACE & BIAGIO’S IN PARAMUS, NEW JERSEY PRESENTED BY ABELLA BOXING PROMOTIONS

PARAMUS, NEW JERSEY — March 15, 2023 — Making his pro-debut out of RidgeField Park, New Jersey, 35-year-old, Dane Guerrero will take on Quintavious Rosser in a super middleweight bout scheduled for four-rounds.

“It’s gonna be exciting,” Guerrero said leading up to Saturday April 1st, Bergen County Fight Night 3 at The Terrace & Biagios in Paramus, New Jersey.

“It’s in my backyard, so I’m looking forward to putting on a good show. I’m not gonna stop and I know the other guy isn’t gonna stop, so we’re gonna find out who’s gonna give first.”

Boxing fans across the New Jersey region are counting down the days for Guerrero to step in the ring, though locals already know of him as the owner of Combat Fitness Club located in RidgeField Park, NJ. Guerrero provides the community with training courses of one-on-one work revolving around boxing, cardio, and overall fitness.

“Boxers struggle, so what I want to do is take their expertise, and monetize it in the personal training aspect,” Guerrero said about Combat Fitness Club. “I don’t have an open gym format per say. When you come to my place you get that one-on-one attention.”

He explained how the lessons provided to the public have enhanced his own regime and skillset in the ring.

“It makes me a better fighter,” Guerrero said. “It helps me hone in on my craft as well. It allows me to learn about the different types of people that I’m dealing with. Everybody is different with different attitudes, different mindsets and different types of capabilities, so I have to be mindful of that.”

Though he is going on a late-start, Guerrero believes Bergen County Fight Night 3 is the perfect event for him to showcase his skills and prove to the youth, you can do anything your heart desires.

“At 35, I want to let these kids know that it’s never too late. They can do whatever they want as long as they stay focused, disciplined, and dedicated to what they want to do and that goes for anything in life, not just boxing.”

VIDEO: ROY JONES JR., ANTHONY PETTIS & JORGE MASVIDAL VIRTUAL PRESS CONFERENCE PREVIEWING GAMEBRED BOXING

ROY JONES JR., ANTHONY PETTIS & JORGE MASVIDAL VIRTUAL PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES PREVIEWING GAMEBRED BOXING EVENT

MILWAUKEE – March 15, 2023 – Combat sport legends Roy Jones Jr. and Anthony Pettis previewed their upcoming pro boxing clash during a virtual press conference Wednesday before they go toe-to-toe on Saturday, April 1 headlining the “Gamebred Boxing 4” pay-per-view event from Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee in an event presented by Jorge Masvidal’s Gamebred Boxing.

The pay-per-view can be purchased through InDEMAND, PPV.com and UFC Fight Pass PPV, with tickets to the live event available through FiservForum.comAdditional event details will be announced shortly.

In the main event, the Boxing Hall of Famer Jones and the former UFC and WEC World Champion Pettis will go toe-to-toe in an intriguing clash of two of combat sports’ most skilled, accomplished and popular champions, as Milwaukee’s Pettis looks to put on a memorable performance for his hometown fans.

Here is what the virtual press conference participants had to say Wednesday:

ROY JONES JR.

“I wanted to fight Anderson Silva back in the day, but it kept getting pushed to the side. When they told me about the Pettis fight, it was intriguing. He’s done things in MMA that no one has ever done. To face someone else with the same kind of creative mind, I couldn’t say no to it.

“He’s different and he’s very creative with his style. He knows what he’s doing. He’s sparring with guys like former world champion Caleb Plant. That’s the right kind of sparring. He’s not playing boxing, he’s serious about it.

“I feel like I was the first person to come up with the crossover boxing vs. MMA fight idea, but I never got to do it. This was the perfect opportunity. I know that he’s gonna go hard with his boxing, because he’s facing one of the greats. If I were playing Michael Jordan one-on-one, I’d put everything into it.

“My game is to help put on an awesome card for the people. My goal in boxing has always been to give the people what they want to see.

“I love the fact that I get to fight in a place I’ve never been. They have the Greek Freak [Giannis Antetokounmpo] there, and we’re both freaks in the ring, so why not make it happen? When you get the opportunity, you gotta shoot, and that’s what we do.

“I’m older, but I’m still wise. What better way for him to learn boxing than against someone who knows basically everything about the sport?”

ANTHONY PETTIS

“It’s crazy to be in this position and be fighting Roy Jones Jr. in my first boxing fight. This is a challenge I’ve been waiting for. You can’t say no to an opportunity like this. This is the kind of challenge that wakes me up every morning and makes me want to bring it.

“I’m just straight boxing now. I’m finding the best boxers I can spar with here in Las Vegas. I’m living the lifestyle. How could you not be motivated when facing a guy like Roy? I come to win fights and that’s the goal April 1.

“I’ve done so much in MMA, but I grew up watching fights like Oscar De La Hoya vs. Felix Trinidad. Watching that is why I got into combat sports. Now that I have this opportunity, I’m hiring the right guys and doing everything I need to do to take this 100% seriously.

“I’ve been working a lot to adjust to fighting at a bigger weight. I was already in fight shape coming into camp, because this is just such a great opportunity. I feel like I’m getting used to the pressure that he’s gonna bring. I’m gonna use the smarts and skills I’ve accumulated over the years and try to put it on him.

“If you look at my UFC career, I fought the best of the best. That’s exactly what I’m bringing to my boxing career. These are the kind of challenges I want.

“I’m testing myself against one of the greats. So this would be huge for MMA as a sport. I’m not going to let this slip through my fingers. I think you’re going to be surprised by my skillset.”

JORGE MASVIDAL, CEO of Gamebred Boxing

“I’m so pumped. I can’t believe I’m looking at Roy and Pettis and it’s all coming to life. I remember Dean and I were having a conversation about this happening months ago, and now it’s happening.

“I’ve been watching Roy since I was a kid, and being a Florida guy, we really go hard for him. We’re so happy to be able to put this together. Pettis is one of the greatest 155 pounders I’ve ever seen. These styles are a great mesh, because they both know how to be flashy.

“I can’t believe this flight is about to take place. Props to everyone for stepping up, especially the fighters, because if it weren’t for them it wouldn’t be happening.

“I know Pettis has been focusing on striking for a while now, and I can’t wait to see how one of my MMA brothers does against one of the greatest boxers to ever live.

“We just want to put on the best cards possible and that’s what this feels like. After a long week’s work, am I gonna shell out the money for this card? When I look at this card, I’d definitely pay for this. This is history for any combat sports enthusiast.”

DEAN TOOLE, President of Gamebred Boxing

“This is only the second event ever that UFC Fight Pass has promoted through a digital pay-per-view, with the other being Mayweather vs. McGregor. That says a lot about how big this event is.

“This fight card is absolutely stacked. We have UFC and Strikeforce world champions, UFC veterans and one of the greatest boxers to ever do it, just to name a few. We have an incredible lineup and I can’t wait to hear from these amazing fighters today.

“We’re also going to have real boxing prospects and up-and-comers on this card. These types of fights will put eyeballs on upcoming boxers who will eventually be headlining these cards.”

HOGAN DEFENDS IBO SUPER-WELTERWEIGHT WORLD TITLE AGAINST METCALF IN DUBLIN ON MAY 20

Dennis Hogan will defend his IBO Super-Welterweight World Title against James Metcalf on the undercard of Katie Taylor’s huge homecoming undisputed clash with Chantelle Cameron at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland on Saturday May 20, live worldwide on DAZN.

The Irishman, who is based in Newstead, Australia, returns home to fight in Ireland for the first time in his professional career and heads into his maiden defence of the IBO 154lbs Title on a three-fight winning streak, most recently outpointing Sam Eggington over 12 rounds at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre last October.

‘Hurricane’ (31-4-1, 7 KOs), who was born in Kildare, Ireland, controversially lost out on points to Mexico’s Jaime Munguia in a challenge for the WBO Super-Welterweight World Title in April 2019. He jumped up to Middleweight to take on WBC World Champion Jermall Charlo in his next fight but was stopped in seven rounds by the undefeated Texas fighter.

Liverpool’s Metcalf (24-2, 15 KOs) halted Brooklyn’s Carl Pennington in six rounds at the First Direct Arena in Leeds last time out in December in what was the first defence of his WBA Continental Super-Welterweight Title. That win followed on from his impressive career-best showing against Kerman Lejarraga at the Bilbao Arena in Spain last summer.

The former Commonwealth and WBC International Super-Welterweight Champion, son of Liverpool fight legend Shea ‘Shamrock Express’ Neary, rejuvenated his career by outpointing hometown hero Lejarraga, a two-weight European Champion, in an excellent display of patience and boxing IQ.

Metcalf’s only defeats in the professional ranks have come at the hands of Bermondsey’s Ted Cheeseman in a jaw dropping battle for the vacant British Title in Gibraltar in March 2021 and Northampton’s Kieron Conway at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool in October 2021.

“Firstly, thank you to Eddie Hearn and everyone at Matchroom for having me on this iconic card on May 20,” said Hogan. “I’m excited to be returning to Ireland to defend my World Title against JJ Metcalf. This is a truly special moment for me, not only to be on the card with Katie Taylor who is an Irish superstar, but it will be the first time I will be fighting as a professional in Ireland. See you soon Dublin!

“I’ve always wanted to box in Ireland and never quite got the chance, so to be boxing on one of the biggest boxing events in Irish history for a World Title is a dream come true,” said Metcalf.

“Dennis Hogan is a really good fighter and a genuine world top 10 in my opinion – you only have to look at some of his previous opponents to see that. I believe he was robbed for the WBO World Title against Munguia.

“I’m expecting the fight to be a tough fight, cagey at times, but it will catch fire and hopefully the fans get to see a great fight. A win for my career here will mean everything to me. Everything I’ve done since my first amateur fight at the age of 11 would have all been worth it, it also lines me up for some massive fights.”

“Dennis Hogan against JJ Metcalf for the IBO Super-Welterweight World Title is another fantastic war for our monster May 20 event in Dublin,” said Matchroom Sport Chairman Eddie Hearn. “We’ve seen Dennis in with the likes of Jaime Munguia, Jermall Charlo and Tim Tszyu and he comes to fight every time. He returns home to fight in Ireland for the first time in his career in what will be a truly special night.

“JJ deserves this huge opportunity after bouncing back from his two defeats in brilliant fashion. He’s looked a real force since he teamed up with Joe McNally and they want all the big fights out there. Fighters that have continually stepped up and taken the challenges put in front of them deserve these big opportunities and I can’t wait to see these two go at it on May 20, live around the world on DAZN.”

An announcement on tickets will be made soon.

BUATSI IS BOXXER: JOSHUA BUATSI SIGNS EXCLUSIVE PROMOTIONAL DEAL WITH BOXXER AND SKY SPORTS

London, UK – (March 15, 2023) – The incredible Great British world title prospect Joshua Buatsi (16-0, 13 KOs) has a new home: BOXXER.

The undefeated light-heavyweight contender was today unveiled as the latest star-name addition to the BOXXER and Sky Sports stable at a press conference in his hometown of Croydon, London.

The former British light-heavyweight champion, who celebrated his 30th birthday yesterday, has signed an exclusive multi-fight, multi-year agreement with BOXXER which will see his forthcoming world title quest air live and exclusively in the UK on the nation’s biggest sports broadcast platform.

His first fight under the BOXXER banner will be live and exclusive on Sky Sports, in the UK & Republic of Ireland, on May 6 at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham.

A bronze medalist at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil, Buatsi joins a roster packed with fellow Olympians, including Lauren Price, Ben Whittaker, Frazer Clarke, Natasha Jonas, Karriss Artingstall and Caroline Dubois.

With sixteen professional wins and a two-year stint as WBA International light-heavyweight champion to his credit, Buatsi is now set on winning major world titles in one of boxing’s most competitive weight divisions.

BOXXER CEO & Founder, Ben Shalom said: “We’re incredibly proud and excited to welcome Joshua Buatsi to the BOXXER stable. He is an exemplary role model and one of the most talented fighters we have in this country.

“Buatsi wants the biggest fights possible in front of the largest possible audience to achieve his unlimited potential.  He feels he wants to make up for lost time and we’re looking forward to sharing this journey with him, as he sets out to bring major nights and titles to Britain.”

Joshua Buatsi said: “I want to get the biggest fights on the biggest, most accessible platform for sports fans, so that’s why I’ve signed with BOXXER and Sky Sports.”

News of Buatsi’s first fight under the BOXXER banner will be announced in the near future. His last outing – a clash with Craig Richards in May last year – was widely considered one of British boxing’s fights of the year for 2022.

Prior to commencing his professional career, Buatsi graduated with a 2:1 degree in Management with Sports Science from St Mary’s University, Twickenham, studying alongside an amateur boxing career which saw him net two English national championships in addition to his Olympic bronze.

BOXXER: Poland, April 22 Announced – World Title; Dubois; Bakole

London, UK – (March 15, 2023) – BOXXER heads to Poland next month for its second international event of 2023, presenting a world title fight and a stacked card of elite championship boxing on Saturday, April 22, in association with Knockout Promotions.

Fresh from a successful event in Paris last weekend, where Dan Azeez captured the EBU light-heavyweight title and Lauren Price extended her unbeaten professional record, another huge trip to the continent is in the reckoning.

Caroline Dubois leads the star-studded travelling party to Rzeszów, along with brand new BOXXER signing Martin Bakole and fellow heavyweight Jeamie TKV – with Alen Babic headlining, live and exclusively in the UK & Republic of Ireland on Sky Sports, when he faces Lukasz Rozanski for the vacant WBC World Bridgerweight title.

Trained by Shane McGuigan, rising superstar Dubois (6-0, 5 KOs) blasted her way through Feriche Mashaury at the OVO Wembley Arena in February to make another emphatic stride in her burgeoning career.

Mashaury has fought the likes of Chantelle Cameron and Terri Harper and took recently crowned British Boxer of the Year Natasha Jonas the distance in 2019.

But former Team GB hero Dubois, 22, made light work of her Tanzania rival and dispatched her inside two destructive rounds. An opponent for April 22 will be named in due course.

The ‘Next King of Scotland’ Martin Bakole (18-1-0, 13 KOs) will make his highly-anticipated BOXXER debut when he takes on unbeaten Ukrainian, Ihor Shevadzutskyi (10-0, 8 KOs) in a battle of the behemoths.

Bakole signed a long-term deal with BOXXER back in February. And the Ayrshire-based heavyweight, who is ranked highly by the WBA, will be out to make a major statement when he collides with a man nicknamed ‘the Hulk’, who has wins over Kevin Johnson and Kamil Sokolowski on his CV.

Standing at a menacing 6ft 6in, Bakole hails from the Democratic Republic of Congo, where he was born a prince to the son of the ruler of the Kananga province. His brother is former WBC World Cruiserweight king, Ilunga Makabu.

His record is as impressive as his stature, having won 18 professional fights including his last in May 2022 when he celebrated a majority decision victory over Tony Yoka in the Rio 2016 Olympic champion’s homeland in Paris, France.

Bakole’s only defeat was in 2018 to American heavyweight Michael Hunter. But he has responded with seven successive wins since – five of which were knockouts, including triumphs against Kevin Johnson and Mariusz Wach.

Another impressive heavyweight on the fight card in Rzeszów is Jeamie TKV (4-0, 2 KOs).

The undefeated Londoner has made a great impression with BOXXER, enjoying four wins – including his breathtaking points victory over Harry Armstrong last month.

The 29-year-old has been training in Texas and can now look forward to his first fight outside of his capital city when he travels to Poland next month.

Completing the line-up will be a hotly-contested main event which sees the popular Croatian knockout artist, Alen ‘The Savage’ Babic (11-0, 10 KOs) battle Poland’s own Lukasz Rozanski (14-0, 13 KOS) for the vacant WBC World Bridgerweight Championship.

BOXXER CEO & Founder, Ben Shalom said: “Another significant European adventure awaits. Paris was an incredible success and we believe that this fight night in Poland will be hugely impactful in the world of boxing.

“Caroline Dubois has proved unstoppable and this will be a brilliant test for her overseas. Jeamie TKV has lit up our screens with some hugely impressive heavyweight performances and you will not want to blink when the ‘Next King of Scotland’ Martin Bakole stands toe-to-toe with the ‘Ukrainian Hulk’, Ihor Shevadzutskyi in chief support.

“Topped by a huge world title fight with Alan Babic, we are looking forward to another showcase for our world class roster on the global stage with Sky Sports.”

Further news on tickets and media accreditation will be released in due course.

This event is presented in association with official partners Everlast, WOW HYDRATE and Village Hotels.

A former top-rated contender already two fights into his comeback from nearly four years of inactivity, the charismatic “Big Baby” Miller is a former WBO-NABO and WBA-NABA Champion with impressive wins over top-rated former title challengers and top contenders including Mariusz Wach, Gerald Washington, Johann Duhaupas, Bogdan Dinu and former world champion Tomas Adamek. Miller was last seen taking out Mexican veteran Derek “Vikingo” Cardenas in four rounds in July of last year.

Currently residing in Perth, Western Australia, Lucas Browne is a former WBA and WBF world champion, as well as the reigning WBA Oceania and IBF Australasian champion. During his long and distinguished career, Browne has defeated quality opponents such as James “Lights Out” Toney, Ruslan Chagaev and Andrey Rudenko. The hard-punching Aussie fan favorite was last seen taking out fellow contender Junior Fa via impressive first-round TKO in June of last year. The anvil fists of Browne had Fa down twice within two minutes before the stoppage at 1:58.

Lucas Browne’s Promoter, hall of famer Lou DiBella, gave this take on the hard-hitting clash in the Middle East.

“Lucas Browne, even at forty, poses the danger of a true puncher. He’s proven that in his last two knockouts as an underdog,” said DiBella. “He represents the first real threat that Miller has faced since his return. Lucas is a pro’s pro and Jarrell is going to find that out this weekend. Thanks to ProBox TV for making this strong card available to its subscribers.”

Dublin’s Jono Carroll won the IBF European Super Featherweight Championship in 2017 with a stoppage of then undefeated Englishman John Quigley and defended it twice before unsuccessfully challenging then IBF Super Featherweight Champion Tevin Farmer in 2019. The energetic southpaw has since rebounded with a stoppage win over former world champion Scott Quigg and an impressive decision over then WBA #7-ranked super featherweight Andy Vences in September 2021. Carroll is currently on a five-fight winning streak.

Arjona, Colombia’s Miguel Marriaga has challenged for world titles three times, but each time come up short. The hard-punching slugger has stopped all but four of his 30 victims and will be looking to return to top contender status with an upset victory against Carroll. Marriaga was last seen dropping a highly competitive decision to former Olympian and interim world champion Michael Conlan.

Calling all the action will be top-notch commentator/ring announcer Ray Flores, along with popular former UFC star Tyron Woodley. Current $1.99 monthly subscribers will not be able to watch Miller vs. Browne without upgrading their subscription to the $18 per year plan.

CANELO ALVAREZ DEFENDS HIS UNDISPUTED TITLE AGAINST JOHN RYDER ON MAY 6 IN MEXICO HOMECOMING

Saúl Canelo Álvarez will defend his Undisputed Super-Middleweight title against John Ryder at the Akron Stadium in Guadalajara, Mexico on Saturday May 6, live around the world on DAZN and DAZN PPV in the U.S & Canada – the first time in over a eleven and a half years that Canelo has fought in Mexico.

Canelo (58-2-2 39 KOs) defends his Undisputed crown for the second time after beating bitter rival Gennadiy Golovkin in their trilogy battle in Las Vegas in September, having ripped the IBF crown from Caleb Plant in Sin City in November 2021 with an 11th round stoppage.

The Mexican superstar will make an emotional return to his homeland for his latest Cinco de Mayo showdown, and it will be 4180 days since he last stepped through the ropes in Mexico, when he stopped Kermit Cintron in Mexico City in five rounds to defend his WBO World Light-Middleweight title.

The 32 year old four-weight World Champion fights for the 63rd time of his storied career as he closes in on 18 years as a pro. Cinco de Mayo weekend will see him fight for the 35th time in his homeland and it promises to be a spectacular occasion with the state of Jalisco marking 200 years of independence.

WBO mandatory challenger Ryder (32-5 18 KOs) will be looking to spoil the party, as the popular Londoner travels to Mexico for the biggest fight of his 12-year career. ‘The Gorilla’ landed the WBO interim title in his last fight when Zach Parker retired on his stool after four rounds of their clash in London, England in November.

That win for the 34 year old followed a career-best victory earlier in 2022 over former Middleweight ruler and old Canelo foe Daniel Jacobs, with Ryder having also tackled three other Britons who have taken on the Mexican king, challenging Callum Smith for the Super-Middleweight World crown after fights with Billy Joe Saunders and Rocky Fielding.

“I feel really happy to be coming back in May because following my surgery, I was unsure of when I’d be coming back,” said Canelo. “Returning to the ring and coming back to fight in Jalisco, where I’m from, makes me especially happy. And in John Ryder, I’m facing a very competitive fighter.”

“There’s no denying that Canelo is one of the greats and I’ve got a lot of respect for what he’s achieved in the sport but I fully believe this is my time fulfil my dream of becoming a World champion,” said Ryder.

“I’m not going over there for a holiday. For me this is purely business and my full focus is on going into his backyard in Guadalajara on May 6 and bringing those belts back with me to the UK. I want to thank the team, Tony and Charlie Sims and Matchroom Boxing for making this happen.”

“Canelo’s return to Mexico is historic for Mexican boxing,” said trainer Eddy Reynoso. “He is returning as an Undisputed champion, this is proof that a Mexican can succeed outside his country with discipline and love for his sport.

“I feel proud of all of this, because the dream of a kid who started in Guadalajara came true and he returns as a winner!”

Williams-Hogan showdown highlights undercard of Thursday’s pre-St. Patrick’s Day extravaganza in Boston live on UFC FIGHT PASS®

Boston, MA – CES Boxing’s best and brightest invade the Bay State this week for an unforgettable St. Patrick’s Day Weekend extravaganza.

Stablemates Jimmy “Quiet Storm” Williams and Francis “Frank The Tank” Hogan face another in a highly-anticipated eight-round middleweight bout on the undercard of Tom Loeffler’s 360 Promotions Hollywood Fight Nights Boston show Thursday, March 16 at the Agganis Arena live on UFC FIGHT PASS®.

The card is headlined by undefeated Irish southpaw super welterweight “King” Callum Walsh putting his perfect 5-0 record on the line in a 10-round bout against Spanish challenger Leonardo di Stefano Ruiz. Williams and Hogan are two of three CES Boxing fighters on the undercard; unbeaten super featherweight Kevin Walsh of nearby Brockton returns fresh off a career-defining win in January to face New Jersey’s Andrew Bentley in a six-round bout.

Tickets are available through TicketMaster, online at AgganisArena.com, or the Agganis Arena box office. Fight fans can also stream the action live beginning at 7 pm ET with a monthly or annual subscription to FIGHT PASS.

The Williams-Hogan showdown pits one of CES’ longest-tenured fighters against one of its most recent acquisitions and highly-touted prospects.

A former college football player born in Plainfield, NJ, and raised in New Haven, CT, Williams (18-10-2, 6 KOs) joined the CES family in 2013 when he made his professional debut at the age of 26.

He first began boxing at 8 years old, but pursued football most of his life. Injuries derailed his football career following several tryouts with NFL team, so he returned to boxing in his mid-20s. More than a decade later, the now 36-year-old Williams continues to answer the bell against elite competition. Since scoring an upset win over former world champion Yuri Foreman in 2021, Williams has faced highly-skilled Greg Vendetti, Tyrone James, Vito Mielnicki Jr., Luis Arias, and now the undefeated southpaw Hogan, who boasts an impressive 13-0 record with 12 KOs entering March 16.

The 22-year-old Weymouth, MA, native Hogan signed a promotional agreement with CES in the summer of 2022, bringing his impressive power and elite skillset to the region’s most sought-after promotion.

A third-year apprentice with the Iron Workers Local 7 Union, Hogan debuted professionally at 19 years old following more than 200 amateur bouts under the bright lights of the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, scoring a knockout win to launch a streak of 10 consecutive wins by knockout to begin his pro career.

The 6-foot-2 Hogan is a unique blend of height and power, a rangy opponent with a quick jab and even quicker wit whose eccentric weigh-in outfits have become folklore amidst the pre-fight hysteria. Thursday is his opportunity to prove he’s ready for the next level of competition while the wily veteran Williams hopes he has enough left in the tank for one last run at championship glory.

The fast-rising Walsh (7-0, 4 KOs) returns Thursday fresh off the biggest win of his career January 21 at Mohegan Sun Arena. Originally scheduled to face Rhode Island rival Mike Valentin, Walsh was forced to pivot on short notice and square off against the taller, rangier Christian Otero of New York. The Brockton native aced the test with flying colors, sending Otero to the canvas in the opening round and holding on for a split decision win to capture the vacant New England Super Featherweight Title.

Walsh, 30, who fights out of the Cappiello Boxing and Fitness Gym in downtown Brockton, turned pro in 2021 following a short, but successful, amateur career and continues to climb the ladder among his peers in the 130-pound weight class after fighting at various weights early in his career. On Thursday, he faces the 37-year-old southpaw Bentley, a dangerous, slick competitor who has faced some of the top 126- and 130-pounders in recent years, including Pennsylvania’s Joshafat Ortiz and unbeaten Raymond Cuadrado.

Livin’ The American Dream NABA super flyweight champion John “Scrappy” Ramirez

LAS VEGAS (March 14, 2023, 2023) – Undefeated North American Boxing Association (NABA) Super Flyweight Champion John “Scrappy” Ramirez (11-0, 8 KOs) is literally living the American Dream.

Despite growing up in a broken home on the crime infested streets of South-Central Los Angeles, unable to speak English when he resettled back in LA from Honduras, where he lived with his father, “Scrappy” had every conceivable reason to go down the wrong path. Yet, the fast-rising boxer is knocking on the door of stardom in the most unforgiving sport of professional boxing.

“I am the American Dream,” the fan-friendly fighter proclaimed. “All the hard times have made me stronger. My father and mother put food on the table and the lights on. When you overcome what I have in life, the hard times become easy times. I love life and I’m inspiring people with my story, but I don’t live in the past and I look forward to my future. I’ve never been the type of person to complain about the hard times. I’ve come a long way and overcome a lot. I believe in the American Dream and I’m living it.”

“Scrappy” is on the fast track, ranked No. 2 by the World Boxing Association (WBA), and he accepted the offer to face veteran Thai boxer Sirichai Thaiyen (64-4, 42 KOs), rated No, 3 (the No. 1 spot is open), in a WBA Title Eliminator to determine the mandatory challenger for WBA Super Flyweight World Champion Joshua “El Profesor” Franco (18-1-3, 8 KOs).

Ramirez captured the NABA crown last May 14th in Ontario, California, registering a Knockout of the Year-caliber performance against Jan Salvatierra (8-1), who lasted only 2:25 in the opening round, blasted through the ropes and out of the ring.

In his most recent action this past February 23rd, “Scrappy” successfully defended his NABA belt for the first time, taking a 10-round unanimous decision (100-90, 99-91, 99-91) over Luis Villa Padilla (16-3-2) in the main event at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California. Even though he won 9 rounds on two of the judges’ scorecards, all 10 on the other, “Scrappy” received some criticism that the 26-year-old Ramirez has dealt with like a seasoned veteran.

“That was a mostly Mexican crowd that wasn’t rocking with me,” Ramirez explained. “The guy I fought was Mexican and I’m out-spoken, flashy, and confident. I know the culture and they thought I was too cocky. And they thought I was an African American. I fought a tough opponent and I tried to get him out early. In the fifth round, I told myself to enjoy the process, don’t rush, and have fun. I displayed my skills for 10 rounds and got the W.

“If I don’t knockout an opponent, they complain; if I out-box my opponent, it’s too boring for them; if I get hit too much, they think I need to work on my defense. I could have made it a boring fight if I had just jabbed, but that would have made the fight boring. I broke him down. I see how people view me. They have big expectations, but I created those. I didn’t knock out my last opponent, but I was the superior fighter, playing on a different level. I’m a promotional free agent (managed by 3 Prime Management) who is a championship fighter in my first main event.”

“Scrappy” isn’t waiting for Thaiyen or even Franco, to the contrary. The entertaining fighter was to remain active, hopefully fighting three more times in 2023, whether or not that includes a WBA Eliminator or World title shot.

“If those fights are meant to happen,” Ramirez added, “it will and, if not, I’ll keep fighting to get better. Anything is possible in this business. Everything has happened quicker than expected for me. I’m on the fast track and I’ll go with the flow. I’m ready for anything.

“Becoming world champion is the main goal….then, I want the second, and eventually the rest of the belts. Franco has what I want and I’m coming!”

“Scrappy” Ramirez is truly living the American Dream.

Renowned lightweight, ‘The Technician’ Ortiz, takes to social media to call out fellow 135-pounders in the never-ending quest to showcase his talents in 2023

Worcester, MA, lightweight Jamaine Ortiz (@JaimaineOrtizR) has built his career – which now has him ranked seventh in the world among 135-pounders by the WBC – on substance over style, strategy in lieu of extravagance.

Often referred to as one of the more soft-spoken fighters in today’s game, Ortiz (16-1-1) has patiently waited for the much-anticipated payoff all prizefighters dream of while tactically and efficiently picking apart nearly every challenger who’s crossed his path since launching his professional career in 2017.

But at 26 and on the cusp of entering his prime, “The Technician” can’t – and won’t – wait much longer. Five months ago, Ortiz starred on one of the sport’s biggest stages: New York City, Madison Square Garden, headlining a worldwide televised event against one of boxing’s all-time greats, Vasyl Lomachenko. Ortiz lost a close decision, but the moments of brilliance sprinkled across 12, hard-fought rounds vaulted the Worcester native from commonly-searched social media keyword to legitimate lightweight contender.

As such, Ortiz is now anxiously – and, quite frankly, impatiently – waiting for the next big opportunity. With the scheduled April 22 lightweight super fight between undefeated titans Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis hogging most of the headlines in the 135-pound division, Ortiz has deviated from the usual path of biding his time and is instead aggressively pursuing his rightful place among boxing’s elite lightweights. This past weekend, Ortiz tweeted his frustrations at those who continue to cherry-pick opponents while ducking real fights along with the powers that be who are willfully protecting their high-priced investments from the wrath of “The Technician.”

“To me, it’s very upsetting,” Ortiz said. “I came off a great performance against Lomachenko. Most of the world thought I won. The rankings have me amongst the top 10 in the world. But there’s no fight for me? No good opponent for me? It’s kind of wild.
“There are so many great fights that can be made right now. Me versus George Kambosos. Me versus Isaac Cruz. Joseph Diaz. Javier Fortuna. There are so many guys with big names who are willing to fight. Why can’t we put these fights together?”

And if the buzz from the Lomachenko fight happens to be wearing off five months later, Ortiz added, “then it’s my job is to put myself back in [the conversation].
“One of the things I’ve learned over the years is to keep myself relevant. That’s why I tweeted what I did. I let my feelings out. I understand the business. I have to start poking these guys. The fans and boxing journalists are who make things happen. If the fans are demanding a certain fight and the promoter knows it’s guaranteed to make money, then the promoter will make it happen. If the writers talk about it enough, it begins to make sense. Fighters need to be vocal. Someone has to talk about it.”

Ortiz’s promoter, CES Boxing president Jimmy Burchfield Sr., is eager to join the conversation. Said Burchfield: “From Day 1, Jamaine Ortiz has answered the bell and willingly stepped inside the ring no matter the challenge. He doesn’t duck opportunities. He isn’t afraid to take on anyone. All he’s asking for is the opportunity to showcase his ability against the best in the world and be given the same opportunity as his peers. Jamaine is no longer boxing’s best-kept secret. After what he did against Lomachenko, the secret’s out, and it’s time he gets the opportunities he deserves.”

Social media can be influential in determining which fighters get pushed to the top of the conversation, and Ortiz is cognizant of what is being said and who is doing the talking, even if he isn’t as active online as other fighters. “The Technician” noted a recent interview with former two-time super featherweight Shakur Stevenson, whose wish list for 2023 included a potential showdown with Ortiz, whom he described as a “tough fight for whoever.” And after visiting the Top Rank Boxing Gym in Las Vegas, Ortiz is even more convinced his performance against Lomachenko has forced other 135-pounders to shy away from a potential matchup.

“Shakur Stevenson, he puts respect on my name,” Ortiz said. “They know me. They know the type of fighter I am. No one is calling me an easy opponent or a pushover. If I’m an easier fight, then why aren’t they calling me name? I want to know who in the world has ever called me out to fight. Nahir Albright might be the only one who’s ever said something. We originally had that fight on Triller [on November 28, 2020], then he pulled out, but we got it back [on Showtime in 2022] and I beat him up.

“When have I ever said no to fight? At the same time, who’s calling me out? With me being at this level now, who dares call my name?”

Of late, Ortiz has fought the best of the best; his last five opponents boast a combined record of 80-8-2, including the dynamic Lomachenko, whom many felt Ortiz was on the verge of beating until the final three rounds. Ortiz still thinks he did enough from rounds 1 through 8 to earn the decision, but admits he lost the last three as Lomachenko found his second wind. Even in a losing effort, Ortiz’s stock rose that night, and “The Technician” is certain other prospects are going to be more selective in 2023 knowing his ability to push opponents to the limit. While being feared is certainly a compliment, it can also be detrimental to a young fighter’s progress.

“Why would promoters take a guy who they’ve invested time and money in and put him in there against something they know will beat him?” Ortiz said. “They won’t give me the opportunity to look good against a good opponent and build me up. Why not get me a world title?

“I’m not in a position to be used as an opponent. Every single time I’ve fought, from a performance level and an entertainment level, people always talk about me. Whether it’s Triller, Showtime, ESPN, I’m always going to be a trending topic. I don’t see why they wouldn’t want to continue to bring me up and have me fight when they know I put on a show. I’m not a boring fighter.”

Having expressed his thoughts publicly on one of the world’s largest platforms, Ortiz once again plays the waiting game as he seeks a career-changing opportunity in 2023. The difference now is Ortiz is more than willing to stir the pot if others aren’t willing to put their records – and reputations – on the line.

“I’ve waited a long time. I’m going on seven years as a pro. I’ve been very patient and I’ve been taking everything that comes my way,” Ortiz said. “I’ve been quiet a long time. Now I want to take a little bit more control of my career. Am I wrong for that? Am I wrong for trying to make fights happen or asking for the best?

“I won’t talk trash to a fighter for no reason. But how am I going to sell a fight? In this business, social media, twitter is the place to be. Journalists and boxing writers take what you post on social media and blow it up and circulate it through other media outlets. I have to put my voice out there. If no one wants to fight, then I have to poke at people. I don’t want to just wait, wait, wait and then regret it later.”
