THURSDAY: Jean Pascal-Michael Eifert Light Heavyweight Title Eliminator to Stream LIVE and Exclusively in the U.S. on ESPN+

(March 13, 2023) — Former light heavyweight world champion Jean Pascal returns to the ring in a 12-round IBF light heavyweight world title eliminator against German contender Michael Eifert this Thursday, March 16, at Place Bell in Laval, Canada.

Pascal-Eifert and undercard bouts will stream live and exclusively in the U.S. on ESPN+ starting at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT. This event is promoted by DiBella Entertainment, in association with Groupe Yvon Michel and Jean Pascal Promotions, and in collaboration with Blanko Sports and SES Sports Events GmbH.

Pascal (36-6-1, 20 KOs) captured his first world title in 2009 when he defeated Adrian Diaconu for the WBC championship. He made three defenses, including a stoppage win over Chad Dawson in 2010. Pascal lost the title to Bernard Hopkins the following year, but he remained a force in the division with wins against Lucian Bute, Yunieski Gonzalez, Marcus Browne and Badou Jack, in addition to tough battles with Sergey Kovalev, Eleider Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol. The 40-year-old is coming off a decision win over then-undefeated Fanlong Meng. Eifert (11-1, 4 KOs) debuted in 2018 and suffered one setback via majority decision against Tom Dzemski in 2020. He is 5-0 since his lone defeat, including a decision win over Dzemski in their July 2021 rematch.

In other streaming action from Canada:

  • Junior welterweight Mathieu Germain (21-2-1, 9 KOs) looks to build off a three-fight win streak in a 10-rounder against fellow Canadian Steven Wilcox (24-3-1, 7 KOs). Last June, the 33-year-old shut out then-unbeaten prospect Misael Cabrera Urias.

  • Italian welterweight standout Yoel Angeloni (1-0) looks to make it 2-0 against Alexander Calixto (1-1, 1 KO) in a four-rounder.

  • Irish light heavyweight Joseph Ward (8-1, 4 KOs) returns in an eight-round bout against undefeated Mexican prospect Mario Andrade Rodriguez (7-0, 4 KOs). Ward is coming off a decision win against Fred Julan last December.

  • Former world title challenger Jessica Camara (10-3, 2 KOs) faces Karla Ramos Zamora (9-9-1, 2 KOs) in a 10-rounder for the IBF International junior welterweight title. Camara lost in a bid for the unified junior welterweight crown in November 2021, but the 34-year-old is coming off two stoppage wins last year.

  • Caroline Veyre (2-0) and Anaelle Angerville(5-1-1) will collide in a featherweight clash scheduled for six rounds.

Top Florida boxing prospects in action April 1st On “Night of Redemption” in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. (March 13, 2023) – Many of the most promising boxing prospects in Florida, including several promising Cuban boxers, will be showcased on the “Night of Redemption” card, on Saturday night, April 1, at Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida.

“Night of Redemption,” co-promoted by Orlando Boxing Promotions and Boxlab Promotions, will be streamed live on pay-per-view from Orlando on www.boxtv.com

“Caribe Royale is looking forward to hosting ‘Night of Redemption’ on April 1st,” said Amaury Piedra, Managing Director, Caribe Royale Resort. “This joint promotion between Boxlab Promotions and Orlando Boxing Promotions will feature a mix of a current regional champion in Idalberto Umara defends his Fedecaribe title, along with up-and-coming prospects such as Orlando’s Adrian Pinheiro, Jeovanny Estela, Joshua Lebron, and others. We’re always proud to have activities at The Resort like this boxing card, which brings in visitors and locals alike. This should be a great night allowing our local young talent to showcase their skills in Central Florida’s home of Boxing, the Caribe Royale Resort.”

“I’m super excited to be promoting my first show in Orlando where I live,” remarked Orlando Boxing Promotions president Tony Blanco, who lived and promoted shows in Connecticut. “To be promoting this show with Boxlab, which is a big boxing company here in Central Florida, and its crew at a beautiful venue like Caribe Royale Resort is amazing.”

Unbeaten Polish cruiserweight Adrian “Pretty Boy” Pinheiro (10-0-1, 9 KOs), fighting out of Orlando, will headline in the 8-round main event against Demetrius Banks (5 KOs), of Detroit. The 25-year-old Pinheiro is coming off his lone non-victory as a professional this past February 25, fighting Isaiah Thompson to a 6-round split draw. Bank is best known for ruining the professional debut of Antwaun Tubbs, the son of former world heavyweight champion Tony Tubbs, by way of a 4-round technical knockout in 2014.

“Adrian is seeking redemption after he fought to a draw in his last fight (Feb. 25th vs. Isaiah Thompson),” added Blanco, who trains Pinhiero. “He’s stepping up to fight his first scheduled 8-round bout and his first main event. He’s coming off a draw but he’s looking at it as a loss. He wants to put that fight behind and move forward. Not only did he want to go 8 rounds, but he also wanted to fight a tough, durable opponent. Most fighters coming off a draw, they’d want a tune-up fight to build back their confidence, but Adrian is ready for what’s coming next for him in his career.”

In the 6-round co-featured event, undefeated 22-year-old Jeovanny Estela, 10-0, 3 KOs) will put his perfect pro record on the line against Saul “Navajo” Corral (23-20, 13 KOs), of Mexico. Corrall, who is a former WBC FECARBOX welterweight champion, clearly represents the toughest test of Estela’s young pro boxing career. Battle-tested Corrall has been in the ring with world champions such as Sadam Ali and Victor Ortiz, as well as several contenders, and hot prospects like Estella.

Cuban Idalberto Umara (9-1, 6 KOs), fighting out of Miami, will make his first title defense of the WBA Fedecaribe Lightweight crown in a 10-round title fight versus a challenger to be announced. Umara captured his Fedecarbie championship belt in his last fight by way of a second-round technical knockout of Deivi Julio this past February 25th at Caribe Royale in Orlando.

Two other Cuban boxers are scheduled to be in action. Miami-based welterweight Damian Lascaille (3-0, 2 KOs) vs. TBA in a 4-rounder, while Las Vegas heavyweight Henrich Ruiz Cordoba (1-0, 1 KO) is matched in a 6-round bout against veteran Mexican fighter Jose “Olympico” Humberto Corrall (20-32, 12 KOs).

Orlando cruiserweight Daine Smikle (1-0), who was a member of the Jamaican National Boxing Team, is a former Connecticut resident (New Haven) like Blanco who has also resettled in Orlando. Smikle is in a 4-round match vs. TBA.

Also fighting in the undercard is 4-rounders are Orlando super welterweight Ramiro De Jesus (2-0, 1 KO) vs. pro-debuting Bryan Duran, of Miami; Orlando cruiserweight A’Mire “Devine” Lewis (4-0, 3 KOs) vs. TBA, Orlando lightweight and Puerto Rico native Jonathan Cortes (1-0, 1 KO) vs. TBA; and Orlando’s super bantamweight Joshua Lebron (5-0-1, 4 KOs) vs. TBA.

Card subject to change.

Tickets are priced at $100.00 (ringside), $75.00 reserved seating, $40.00 general admission and available to purchase at https://www.ticketmaster.com/event/22005E67806EB93E

Doors open at 6 p.m. ET, first bout at 7 p.m. ET.

HARPER MAKES MAIDEN WBA 154LBS WORLD TITLE DEFENCE AGAINST FORMER POUND-FOR-POUND NO.1 BRAEKHUS AT DUBLIN’S 3ARENA ON MAY 20

Terri Harper will defend her WBA Super-Welterweight World Title against former world pound-for-pound No.1 Cecilia Braekhus on the undercard of Katie Taylor’s historic homecoming clash with Chantelle Cameron at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland on Saturday May 20, live worldwide on DAZN.

Former WBC and IBO Super-Featherweight World Champion Harper (13-1-1 6 KOs) won the WBA 154lbs World Title by widely outpointing Scotland’s Hannah Rankin at the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham in September last year – her first fight up at Super-Welterweight.

Norway’s Braekhus (37-2, 9 KOs), a former undisputed ruler at 147lbs, is attempting to become a two-division World Champion. ‘First Lady’, a modern pioneer of women’s boxing, held the WBC and WBA World Titles at Welterweight from 2009 to 2020, also picking up the WBO Title in 2010 and the IBF Title in 2014.

Braekhus lost the titles by majority decision to Jessica McCaskill in August 2020 in Downtown Tulsa, USA and lost again to ‘CasKILLA’ in a rematch at the American Airlines Center in Dallas in March 2021. McCaskill is the only fighter to have beaten Braekhus as a professional.

“This fight has been a long time coming but it will be worth the wait to be on such an amazing card,” said Harper. “All eyes around the world will be watching that night and I want to show everyone who Terri Harper is.”

“I’m very excited to challenge Terri Harper for the WBA 154lb. World Title on this tremendous card, my first time fighting in Ireland,” said Braekus. “I’ve spent my entire career facing the toughest challenges and
this fight is another chapter.”

“I’m delighted to announce the first undercard fight for what will be one of the greatest nights of boxing in Irish history on Saturday May 20 – and what a fight!” said Matchroom Sport Chairman Eddie Hearn. “Two-weight World Champion Terri Harper gets the biggest fight of her life as she makes the first defence of her WBA Super-Welterweight World Title against former pound-for-pound No.1 and undisputed Welterweight ruler Cecilia Braekus.

“Two unbelievable World Title fights already confirmed for Katie Taylor’s historic homecoming fight against undisputed Super-Lightweight Champion Chantelle Cameron and there’s still so much more to come. We’re building an incredible show on May 20 and we will be confirming the next undercard fight tomorrow – it’s another cracker! Roll on May 20 live worldwide on DAZN.”

“It is an honour to prepare Terri for a contest with arguably one of the greatest females of all time in Cecilia Braekhus,” said trainer and manager Stefy Bull. “This has just got a whole lot more exciting now we are sharing a bill with what I believe has the potential to be the best and most thrilling fight female boxing can deliver in Katie Taylor vs. Chantelle Cameron. Two of the best female fighters on the planet in an undisputed vs. undisputed clash – May 20 is going to be one hell of a night.”

“Cecilia has accomplished so much as the long reigning undisputed Welterweight Champion, we are excited that she is now getting this opportunity to challenge Teri Harper for the WBA Super-Welterweight World Title,” said Tom Loeffler

“Cecilia is one of the most accomplished female boxers in the sport with 3 Guinness Book World Records, we’re excited to work with Eddie, Matchroom and DAZN again for Cecilia being on this tremendous show in Dublin, Ireland.”

SUPER LIGHTWEIGHT PROSPECT SHINARD BUNCH TAKES ON UNDEFEATED BRYAN FLORES IN MAIN EVENT ON SHOBOX: THE NEW GENERATION®IN EXCITING TRIPLEHEADER FRIDAY, APRIL 7

NEW YORK – March 13, 2023 – Nearly two months after O’Shaquie Foster became the 88th SHOBOX: The New Generation alumni to win a world title, two young super lightweight prospects will battle it out on the prospect-oriented series as returnee Shinard Bunch (20-1-1, 16 KOs) from Queens, N.Y., takes on Mexico’s Bryan Flores (23-0-1, 13 KOs) in a 10-round super lightweight contest Friday, April 7 at 10 p.m. ET/PT live on SHOWTIME® from Cache Creek Casino in Brooks, Calif.

The SHOBOX® tripleheader pits six fighters with a combined record of 95-2-1 and 62 knockouts.

In the co-main event, Neri Romero (16-0, KOs) of Argentina takes on Frency Fortunato (15-1, 11 KOs) of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, in a 10-round super featherweight bout. The telecast opener pits Raul Garcia (12-0, 10 KOs) of the Dominican Republic against Robert Terry (9-0, 3 KOs) of Jersey City, N.J., with both fighters putting their unbeaten streaks to the test in an eight-round super welterweight bout. They all hope to one day follow in the footsteps of Foster, who out-dueled Rey Vargas on February 11 on SHOWTIME to capture the WBC Super Featherweight World Championship after he fought four times on SHOBOX.

The card is promoted by Sampson Lewkowicz and his Sampson Boxing promotion company.

“We are excited to put on our third SHOBOX event over the first four months of the year that will once again feature step-up battles for each fighter,” said Gordon Hall, executive producer for SHOBOX: The New Generation. “Our main event is an elevated SHOBOX bout with Shinard Bunch facing Bryan Flores in their toughest test with the winner on the verge of becoming a contender. That’s the essence of SHOBOX – the winner punches their ticket and moves a step closer to becoming a champion while the runner-up gains exposure and a learning experience to grow on and stay in the hunt.”

Here is more on each of the three bouts:

Bunch vs. Flores – 10-Round Super Lightweight Main Event

Managed by International Boxing Hall of Famer, J. Russel Peltz, the 23-year-old Bunch suffered a controversial split draw in his SHOBOX debut against the tough and undefeated Janelson Figueroa Bocachica. Following the draw, he reeled off five consecutive wins, including his last fight in December, a unanimous decision against Henry Lundy. Since turning pro in 2019, Bunch fought five times in 2020 and eight times in 2021 before slowing down a bit with three bouts in 2022. Bunch’s only pro loss came in 2019 in just his third fight, a unanimous decision loss to SHOBOX alum and amateur standout Paul Kroll. Bunch started his boxing path at age 7 and had more than 400 amateur fights, earning a No. 3 national ranking from the 2016 Nationals and a spot on the USA Boxing national team. A native of Queens, N.Y., Bunch currently lives and trains in Trenton, N.J.

“It’s a blessing to be back on SHOBOX,” said Bunch, who was on the same USA National team as Errol Spence Jr., and Shakur Stevenson. “Not only on SHOBOX, but as a main event. I’ve always dreamed of this. I have a great opponent who is very tough, and I know he’s coming to fight. He’s 23-0 looking to make a statement, so this is definitely going to be a war. This fight should come down to who wants it more.”

Flores was a Mexican national champion as an amateur in 2010 and 2011 and a bronze medalist in 2012. He fought 90 times in the amateur ranks suffering just eight defeats. Flores has fought almost entirely in Mexico, except for one bout in Carson in December of 2021 when he knocked out Tyrone Luckey in the first round.

“I think my opportunity has arrived, I am very motivated,” Flores said. “I am happy for the opportunity and I want to give everything in each training session. I feel that I have nothing to lose and everything to gain.”

Romero vs. Fortunato – 10-Round Super Featherweight Bout

Romero amassed a 49-7 amateur record with 12 KOs. He was a 2014 gold medalist of the Star Tournament (Torneo de las estrellas) and 2015 champion at the Challenge Tournament of Argentina, Uruguay and Chile. Romero fought twice in 2022, his last win coming by way of eighth-round TKO in August against Jorge Sanchez.

“I’m glad to come back to the U.S. for such a great opportunity,” Romero said. “This is the most important fight of my career as a great win will put me in a great position to finally have shot at the world title. I’ll do anything to get away with an impressive victory. That’s exactly what I’m training for.”

Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Fortunato has fought just twice in the U.S, and last September he showed his boxing skills and power holding off a late rally from the aggressive Bernard Torresto capture a split decision on SHOBOX in Atlantic City, N.J. Previously, he stopped Julio Buitrago in two rounds in Daytona Beach in August 2020 and prior to that win, he had beaten two consecutive undefeated opponents in then 14-0 Marcos Muniz and then 6-0 Misael Vasquez. Fortunato’s lone blemish came at the hands of Argentine Alberto Ezequiel Melian in a 10-round unanimous decision loss in Argentina in which Fortunato sent Melian to the canvas four times.

“I’m so happy to come back to SHOBOX and I want to thank my manager Gardner Payne, who is helping me to reach my goal to become world champion,” Fortunato said. “I know my opponent is experienced and has fought internationally, but he’s never faced a boxer like me and when we finally meet he will see that I am one of the top featherweight boxing prospects in the world.”

Garcia vs. Terry – Eight-Round Super Welterweight Bout

An excellent puncher with fast hands, 24-year-old Garcia of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, had over 150 amateur fights before turning professional in May 2021 and quickly rattled off a dozen impressive victories over domestic competition, including taking the undefeated “0” of countryman Francisco Ernesto Sanchez. He was last seen in December 2022, stopping then 22-3 veteran Angel Yomar Mateo in six rounds. Garcia says he began to dream of becoming a world champion after meeting the great Oscar De La Hoya as a young amateur.

“This will be my first trip to the U.S. to fight, and I want to show that I deserve this big opportunity,” Garcia said. “I know that many fighters who start on SHOBOX reach my dream of becoming a world champion. I hope to reach the heights of my idol, Oscar De La Hoya someday.”

Terry began boxing at age 14 and won five New Jersey Golden Glove titles, including four at 152 pounds. He was a 2017 National Golden Gloves finalist at 165 pounds. Born and raised in Jersey City, N.J., Terry had approximately 65 amateur fights and fought in Ireland in 2010 as an amateur.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to fight on SHOBOX,” Terry said. “I see this as a chance to showcase my talent in front of a national audience and I’m hopeful that this win could lead to bigger opportunities for me. I have a great team that I trust and I can’t wait to execute the game plan on April 7.”

International Boxing Hall of Famer Barry Tompkins will call all the blow-by-blow action for SHOBOX with fellow Hall of Famer Steve Farhood joining remotely as the unofficial scorer. Former junior middleweight world champion Raul Marquez and veteran combat sports reporter and MORNING KOMBAT co-host Brian Campbell will serve as expert analysts. The executive producer of SHOBOX: The New Generation is Hall with Richard Gaughan producing and Chuck McKean directing.

Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez returns this Saturday vs. Gabe Rosado for the next chapter of his career

LAS VEGAS (March 13, 2023) –- Former World Super Middleweight Champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (44-1, 30 KOs) returns to the ring this Saturday for the first time during his 13 ½-year pro career after suffering a loss against two-time world title challenger Gabriel “King” Rosado (26-16-1, 15 KOs), in the 12-round main event on a stacked card promoted by Golden Boy Promotions in association with Zurdo Promotions, streaming live on DAZN (8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT) from The Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California.

The 31-year-old Ramirez, fighting out of Mazatlan, Mexico, didn’t have his hand raised in victory for the first time as a pro this past November in Abu Dhabi, when World Boxing Association (WBA) Super World Light Heavyweight Champion Dmitriy Bivol (21-0) successfully defended his crown by way of a 12-round unanimous decision.

“It just wasn’t my night and meant for my opponent,” Ramirez explained about his fight with Bivol. “Looking back, I could have been a little more active, but it is what it is. I definitely would like a rematch in the future.”

First, though, “Zurdo” needs to get back on the winning track versus Rosado, Philadelphia-born of Puerto Rican heritage, who is best known for his stubborn toughness. Rosado, who holds wins over former world champions Joshua Clottey and Kassim Ouma, will be moving up to the light heavyweight division for the first time against Ramirez.

“He (Rosado) is a tough opponent who is always ready to fight,” Ramirez said. “He has been in the ring with the best and can be dangerous at any time of the fight. And to have it be a Mexico versus Puerto Rico match-up is just a cherry on top to make this an exciting fight for fans.”

His loss to Bivol has left “Zurdo” even more motivated.

“It’s a different feeling’” Ramirez noted, “but preparation does not change. I’m more motivated than ever to get back on track and show why I’m still one of the best in the game.”

The next chapter of “Zurdo” Ramirez’ boxing career starts March 18th!

TAYLOR BIDS TO BECOME TWO-WEIGHT UNDISPUTED WORLD CHAMPION AGAINST CAMERON ON MAY 20 IN DUBLIN

Katie Taylor has the chance to become a two-weight undisputed World Champion when she takes on undisputed Super-Lightweight World Champion Chantelle Cameron in a historic homecoming fight at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland on Saturday May 20, shown live worldwide on DAZN.

Irish legend Taylor (22-0, 6 KOs) fights in Ireland for the first time in her professional career as she bids to create even more history and further cement herself as the greatest female fighter on the planet when she meets England’s Cameron.

Taylor edged out Amanda Serrano in an epic fight for the ages on an iconic night at a sold-out Madison Square Garden in New York last April. The global superstar retained her Undisputed Lightweight World Title belts after a Fight of the Year contender with multi-division World Champion Serrano.

It was the first women’s boxing bout to headline the famous MSG in its 140-year history, attracting an unprecedented audience of 1.5 million tuning in globally on DAZN. The rivals were set to rematch in Dublin on May 20 until Serrano withdrew due to injury last month.

Northampton’s Cameron (17-0, 8 KOs) achieved a lifetime dream by outpointing the USA’s Jessica McCaskill to be crowned undisputed at 140lbs at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates last November.

Cameron captured the famous green and gold WBC 140lbs World Title by widely outpointing Brazil’s Adriana dos Santos Arauja behind closed doors at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes back in October 2020.

‘Il Capo’ looked sensational as she stopped Puerto Rico’s Melissa Hernandez in five rounds during the first defence of her crown the following year in her US debut at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas.

The 31-year-old added the IBF and inaugural Ring Magazine World Titles to her collection by decisioning Indiana’s Mary McGee in an all-action main event at The O2 in London in October 2021 before defending her titles with another unanimous decision points win over Victoria Noelia Bustos in May last year.

“Once Serrano pulled out this was the natural fight to make,” said Taylor. “It’s two undefeated, reigning Undisputed World Champions going up against each other and I believe that’s the first time that’s ever happened in the modern era of the sport.

“People have been talking about this fight for a long time now so I’m delighted it’s happening and I’m looking forward to becoming a two-weight Undisputed Champion in Dublin on May 20.”

“It feels surreal that the fight is actually happening,” said Cameron. “It feels like my whole professional career has been based around this fight and I never imagined it would actually happen for one reason or another.

“I’m no stranger to boxing away from home now and to be going into Katie’s backyard for her homecoming is massive. I’m glad to be a part of history again like I was in Abu Dhabi. I know what I will be up against and that I am the underdog but I relish that. The fight will be electric. We both are experienced, we are both game and we are both are coming to win

“To successfully defend my belts against Taylor will be the icing on the cake for me. To become undisputed and then defend them against the pound-for-pound best in women’s boxing will really mark my place in women’s boxing and create my own legacy.”

“I can’t wait to be a part of the historic moment when Katie Taylor makes her homecoming in Ireland to attempt to make history and become a two-weight undisputed Champion,” said Matchroom Sport Chairman Eddie Hearn. “For the first time in her career Katie Taylor called an opponent out because that’s how important this moment is for her. She called out in my opinion the most dangerous test in boxing for her at this time – the undisputed Super-Lightweight World Champion Chantelle Cameron. This fight has been talked about for many years and we always said that when the timing was right Katie would have no problem accepting the challenge.

“For Chantelle, she has done everything that has been asked of her – became World Champion, unified the division and became undisputed at the end of last year. She is a formidable fighter who has always believed she can beat Katie Taylor. On May 20 you will see one of the greatest nights in Irish sporting history as the icon of Irish boxing will be part of an event that will have the eyes of the world watching. We’re building an incredible undercard to accompany a wonderful main event which I think will surpass even the heights of Taylor vs. Serrano. Get ready Ireland, we’re coming! We look forward to an incredible night. Watch it live around the world on DAZN.”

“First of all we wish Amanda all the best in her recovery from injury,” said Joe Markowski, CEO DAZN North America. “Secondly, our thanks to Eddie and the team for pulling this thrilling matchup out the bag to mark Katie’ historic return to Ireland. Chantelle Cameron is a fantastic fighter and will be a tough test for Katie. I for one, cant wait! Watch this brilliant fight live and exclusive on DAZN”

An announcement on tickets will be made soon.

TSZYU VS. HARRISON OFFICIAL WEIGHTS

WBO 154-Pound Title (Interim) – 12 Rounds

Tim Tszyu – 153 ½ lbs.

Tony Harrison – 153 ½ lbs.

Referee: Danrex Tapdasan; Judges: Zoltan Enyedi (Hungary), Katsuhiko Nakamura (Japan), Benoit Roussel (Canada)

FLASH QUOTES:

Tim Tsyzu: “I’m locked in now, and everything’s out of the way. I’m not nervous. Feel my heartbeat.”

Tony Harrison: “The weight cut has always been my problem, but not this time. I’ll put on some weight, but I’m not looking to go in there 180 pounds. Whatever my body allows. I looked into his eyes and to me, he’s nervous. I keep hearing people counting me out, and I don’t understand why. I’m from the Motor, man. I’m from Detroit. You ever seen a rottweiler fight a chihuahua? It’s just a different type of dog. I just think you guys have seen your dog only bite other chihuahuas. He hasn’t been in front of a rottweiler yet.”

WHAT’S AT STAKE: The winner of Tszyu-Harrison will become the mandatory challenger to undisputed super welterweight king Jermell Charlo. Tszyu (21-0, 15 KOs) elected to face the veteran Harrison, a highly skilled, crafty fighter after Tszyu’s scheduled match with Charlo on January 28 was scratched when Charlo broke his hand in training. Harrison (29-3-1, 21 KOs) outboxed and edged Charlo in 2018 to capture a world title before he dropped their rematch a year later. In his last fight, Tszyu rose from a first-round knockdown to dominate former title challenger Terrell Gausha last March in his U.S. and SHOWTIME debut. Now Tszyu, 28, will face another prideful veteran in Detroit’s Harrison, who hopes to spoil Tszyu’s homeland return.

The undisputed king of the 154-pound division, Charlo will join the SHOWTIME announce team live from the CBS Studios in New York City as a special guest to lend his expertise on a fight he will no doubt have a rooting interest in. With a potential rubber match with Harrison or a meeting with the undefeated upstart Tszyu possibly looming, Charlo will bring his trademark passion and microphone skills on Saturday night as the SHOWTIME announce team calls the fight remotely from The Big Apple.

Charlo will be joined by veteran sportscaster and “The Last Stand” podcaster Brian Custer, who will host the SHOWTIME BOXING INTERNATIONAL telecast remotely from New York City and call the action with three-division world champion Abner Mares and International Boxing Hall of Famer Steve Farhood bothserving as analysts. Farhoodwill also serve as the unofficial scorer, while fellow Hall of Famer Jimmy Lennon Jr. handles ring announcing duties Down Under. Four-time Emmy® award winner David Dinkins, Jr. will executive-produce the broadcast with Ray Smaltz III producing and Chuck McKean directing.

The four-fight televised card – a landmark co-promotion with French promotion All Star Promotions – airs live and exclusively in the UK and Ireland on Sky Sports, with continental broadcaster Canal+ carrying it to European households.

Tony Yoka (113.9 kgs / 17st 9 lbs) vs Carlos Takam (117.6 kgs / 18st 5 lbs)

Heavyweight Bout (10R)

Dan Azeez (79.1 kgs / 12st 5 lbs) vs Thomas Faure (77.7 kgs / 12st 2 lbs)

EBU European Light-Heavyweight Title Bout (12R)

Welterweight Bout (8R)

Farrhad Saad (75.4 kgs / 11st 9 lbs) vs Macaulay McGowan (75.5 kgs 11st 9 lbs)

Middleweight Bout (8R)

‘Super’ Dan Azeez (18-0, 12 KO’s), the only light-heavyweight fighter in history to win the English, British and Commonwealth titles, takes the next step on his own mission to become a world title contender as he challenges for the vacant EBU European Light-Heavyweight Championship.

Standing opposite him in the 12-round contest will be former European light-heavyweight champion and former French national champion Thomas Faure (21-4-1, 2 KO’s), who rides an eight-fight undefeated streak heading into the bout.

Last December, Azeez defeated Rocky Fielding in Bournemouth – making for four stoppage wins in his last five outings – to complete his ascent from English to British and Commonwealth champion. Set on taking a methodical route on his inexorable rise to world championship contention, Azeez sees the European title as the next crucial stepping stone.

Having last appeared on the historic BOXXER: Legacy show in front of a sold-out crowd at The O2 in London last October, when she impressively stopped Timea Belik in four rounds, Olympic gold medal heroine Lauren Price MBE (2-0, 1 KO) kickstarts her 2023 campaign in Paris against Germany’s Naomi Mannes (6-1, 4 KO’s),

Joe Gallagher protege Macaulay McGowan (17-3-1, 3 KO’s) – a stablemate of Natasha Jonas – faces the undefeated Farrhad ‘The Professor’ Saad (8-0-1).

This event is presented in association with official partners Everlast and WOW HYDRATE.

RAYMOND “THE SCIENTIST” CUADRADO LOOKING AHEAD TO BERGEN COUNTY FIGHT NIGHT 3                 SATURDAY NIGHT APRIL 1ST AT THE TERRACE AND BIAGIO’S IN PARAMUS, NEW JERSEY                       PRESENTED BY ABELLA BOXING PROMOTIONS

PARAMUS, NEW JERSEY — Fight fans across the Tri-State area have their arrangements booked and plans set for Saturday evening April 1st as Abella Boxing Promotions presents Bergen County Fight Night 3 at The Terrace & Biagio’s Ristorante in Paramus, New Jersey.

Promoted by Scott Abella, the electrifying event, highlighting professional boxers out of New Jersey and New York, includes an eight-fight card: four-six-rounders (6) and four-four-rounders (4) – (SUBJECT TO CHANGE).

Featured in the slate of potential six-rounders, the undefeated, and ascending boxing star, Raymond “The Scientist” Cuadrado, will put his 5-0-0 record up on the line against Usiel Hernandez (2-1-0) in a junior lightweight bout (scheduled at 135 lbs).

Standing at 5’9, Cuadrado, fighting out of Ridgewood, Queens, NY, has become a lethal prospect for boxing fans to zone in on. With the well-known alias of “The Scientist”, he made his pro-debut back in April of 2021 and gained a superb following after his Bergen County Fight Night 2 performance in July of 2022, presented by Abella Boxing.

“It’s just a great energy between the promoter, and staff members,” Cuadrado said about returning on an Abella Boxing Promotions card. “The environment, and being close to home, so my hometown supporters can always show up and show love at the events.”

The 26-year-old continues to climb the ranks with his dynamic versatility in the ring and plans to add to his resume on Saturday night April 1st.

“I’m always looking one step ahead, thinking one step ahead,” Cuadrado said. “Making sure everything is right where I want it every single time.”

He added: “I’m just coming stronger, and I’m ready to display new skills that people haven’t seen out of me before. Constantly thinking of leveling up.”

For sure, an elite type of mindset, but what connects Cuadrado’s demeanor to “leveling up,” varies among many, if not, all within the boxing spectrum. You see, when Cuadrado finds the time and isn’t in the gym, he utilizes his skills as an avid video game streamer on Twitch.

“Whenever I’m able to, I try to stream on Twitch, just to have some fun with the community, and try to build a fanbase there, if possible,” Cuadrado noted.

“It’s always nice when you see two interesting groups collaborating, so, that’s what I try to do with boxing and video games. Have fun with it, bring one community into another by trying to bridge that gap.”

Furthermore, Cuadrado remains growing his fanbase bout by bout and is expected to have a massive group of supporters traveling from across the NY/NJ region to attend Bergen County Fight Night 3.

“I’m happy to see new people become fans, and purchase tickets,” he said. “Seeing not only new faces, but more faces fill out the seats just to come out and support me is always a good feeling. As I continue to grow as a fighter, it’s only gonna reach a bigger fanbase.”

Additionally, Bergen County Fight Night 3 will mark Cuadrado’s first pro-bout of six rounds as well as his heaviest, scheduled at 135 lbs. But, with that said, he’s all set to go, awaiting the calendar to strike Saturday, April 1st.

“Now that we’re doing six rounds, I’m more than ready to take it all the way, if need be, but, if I can take the knockout early, that’s a big goal as well.”

Remaining Six-Round-Bouts:

Nicky “The Bull” Vitone (9-1-1, 63.6 KO%) of Pinebrook, New Jersey, fights Jordan Rosario (4-10-0) in a super-lightweight bout.

John “Bodyshot” Leonardo (9-1-1, 36.3 KO%) of Englishtown, New Jersey, goes up against Alexander Castellano (8-1-1) in a super bantamweight bout.

Mike “The Champ” Lee (9-2-0, 63.6 KO%) of Jersey City, New Jersey, takes on an opponent to be named later in a super welterweight bout.

Four-Round-Bouts:

Christian “Veneno” Otero (4-3-0, 28.5 KO%) of New York, NY will go toe-to-toe with southpaw Vinnie Denierio (3-7-0) in a lightweight bout.

Dane Guerrero, of Ridgefield Park, New Jersey, is set to make his pro-debut against Quintavious Rosser (0-1-0) in a super middleweight bout.

Jade “Poison” Ivery (1-2-0), of Lodi, New Jersey, goes up against Joe Parker (0-1-0) in a super middleweight bout.

Kevin “Hurricane” Hernandez (0-0-1), of Bergenfield, New Jersey takes on Tyrell Cook (0-3-0) in a welterweight bout.

TIM TSZYU VS. TONY HARRISON PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – March 10, 2023 – Undefeated Australian superstar Tim Tszyu and former world champion Tony “Superbad” Harrison met face-to-face in front of the iconic Sydney Harbor Bridge and famed Sydney Opera House on Friday, putting their differences aside to shake hands and wish each other good luck at the final press conference ahead of their showdown for the vacant Interim WBO 154-pound title live on SHOWTIME Saturday March 11 at 10:45 p.m. ET/7:45 p.m. PT.

While Harrison strolled onto the dais shirtless and looking supremely confident, Tszyu took his time at Bennelong Lawn and Royal Botanic Gardens before exiting a Dodge Ram Viper V10 in a dazzling blue suit.

“I like Tim,” Harrison said on stage. “I don’t think he knows how corny he is, but I like him. That’s cool the way he rolled up. That’s him. I like it. I’m just different.”

“I’m not into all this diva stuff, rolling up in a car,” Tszyu admitted. “I just roll with the punches. All this other stuff, it doesn’t matter to me.”

Here is more of what the fighters had to say:

TIM TSZYU

“I see him, and he looks dry, but he looks ready. I don’t really like Tony right now. I’m ready to fight right now. There’s no kisses and hugs happening. I’m coming to fight. There’s a dog in me right now.

“Tony’s a funny guy. He’s a good talker and he’s a banter-type guy and he’s got a little comedian in him. Everyone’s different the way we do things personality wise. So let him be him.

“I’m coming here in a dog fight. This is the opponent I need to show what I can do. This is a different Tim you will see. I feel in a different mode. I just feel different. I had 350 rounds of sparring, and that’s a lot of rounds and I tapered at the right time. I just feel in tremendous shape. As the rounds go up, the more energy I get.

“I’m not judging Tony from his past, I’m judging Tony for his preparation for this fight. Because what he was before is not what he is now. He could be much better, or he could be much worse. He could be full-steam rounds 9 through 12, or he could be hitting rock bottom. Who knows?”

TONY HARRISON

“I feel amazing. In past fights I’d weigh 162, 63. But I’m right there. Not only physically but mentally I feel amazing. I hear Tim speak about how skinny I am and how frail I look, but I came up here without a shirt on so you could visualize what you’re about to touch. I want you to see it, believe it. Visualize it, son. I came here to show exactly what you’re going to see. I’m not here to catfish you. I want you to go to sleep and dream about me and see what you’re about to get.

“Fighting for me is fun. I’ve been fighting every single day of my life. I don’t think he’s had to endure half the stuff that I have. This fight, this press conference is fun for me. Like I said, I feel great.

“He got out of that car like a diva. You had someone open the door for you. I’m not talking about the type of suit you got on, I’m talking about how you got out of that car like a diva. Like, come on, man. He’s just different. I’m not knocking him. What floats his boat floats his, what floats mine floats mine, but Sunday we’re gonna be in the same boat and let’s see who makes it off.

“I already have visualized how this fight is coming. I think I know how this fight is going to play out, and I think the whole world knows how this fight plays out. For me, expect the unexpected. I know he expects me to do one thing, but expect the unexpected. I know we’re both going into war and it’s going to be a great fight.”

GEORGE ROSE, No Limit Boxing CEO

“We have here two of the best 154-pound fighters in the world outside of the undisputed champion. They are without a doubt the two best fighters in the division. A lot of people think Tim is crazy for taking such a fight before the undisputed, but that’s Tim Tszyu and he wants big fights. Tony Harrison is an absolute freak of a fighter. He’s at the top for a reason. He’s up here because he’s that good. This is a chance for Tim Tszyu to show the world what he’s got.

“We could be waiting for Jermell Charlo, but I’d be bored. Everyone here would be bored. We like putting on good fights and that’s what we are going to do until we can get into the ring with Jermell Charlo. We will keep putting on big fights for Tim Tszyu and for Australia.”

GERVONTA DAVIS VS. RYAN GARCIA LOS ANGELES PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES

LOS ANGELES – March 9, 2023 – Undefeated boxing superstars Gervonta “Tank” Davis and “King” Ryan Garcia squared off for the second straight day on Thursday, this time in Los Angeles as they completed back-to-back, coast-to-coast press conferences to preview their highly anticipated 12-round showdown that headlines a SHOWTIME PPV production on Saturday, April 22 in a Premier Boxing Champions event from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Davis vs. Garcia is promoted by GTD Promotions, TGB Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions.

Tickets for the live event go on sale Friday, March 10 at 10 a.m. PT and will be available through www.axs.com

Pre-sale tickets are available NOW until 10 p.m. PT today with the code: BOXING

After an animated face off at Wednesday’s event in New York, Davis and Garcia got up close and personal again on Thursday in Los Angeles, exchanging heated words and more, with Davis playfully throwing a left hook that whizzed inches from Garcia’s chin and Garcia shadowboxing in close proximity to Davis during the ceremonial stare down. Here is what the press conference participants had to say from The Beverly Hilton:

GERVONTA DAVIS

“Come April 22, I’m gonna walk you to the deep waters and I’m gonna drown you. They gonna have to pick you up. I promise you that.

“This guy keeps talking about how he’s gonna hit me with a hook, but he doesn’t have anything else but a hook. What else have you got? He’s not a complete fighter.

“When you’re a complete fighter, you can do everything. You can’t just depend on one punch. What happens when that punch doesn’t work? You have to rely on something else.

“I feel as though I’m already that top guy in the sport. This fight is just about me getting over the hump.

“This is gonna be an explosive fight. If you don’t watch boxing, this is the fight to watch for sure. If you can get there, make sure you’re there. If you can’t be there, buy the pay-per-view. Because this is gonna be a good one for me.

“He’s putting on a front for the people. That’s what I see. I see a guy who’s an act. That’s what it is.

“Didn’t Ryan get caught by Luke Campbell? Do I hit way harder than Luke Campbell? Yes or no?

“I’ve put a lot of guys to sleep and Ryan is next.”

RYAN GARCIA

“I’m here to win and I promise you that I have heart and determination like you’ve never seen before. ‘Tank’ likes to fight guys that don’t hit hard, but I hit hard. When I hit you with that left hook, you’re gonna be on the floor. Asleep. Good night.

“This is such a big event, but I know that I’m coming out on top. It’s one thing to get to the moment, but it’s another to conquer the moment. So I’m not just happy that we’re here, now I’m focused on winning.

“I’m just going to let him think what he thinks. If he thinks all I have is the left hook, then he’s going to run into other shots and be confused. If he had watched any of my fights he’d know what else I have.

“He’s going to try to walk me down, but when he feels shots like this, he’s not going to want to do that. I’m going to hit him to the body and take the aggression out of him. I have a lot of ways to stop him.

“I’m not here to lie, he’s ready to fight. He wants to bring it. He doesn’t look scared, but I’m ready to fight too. We both have fire in our eyes.

“Don’t be mad that my left hook is blessed. Maybe that’s all I need. Maybe that’s all it’s gonna take.

“Nobody else could put together this type of event. Whoever wins this is on top. Whoever wins is the face of boxing and I truly believe that.

“I’m gonna beat him and I’m gonna knock him out. See you on April 22.”

CALVIN FORD, Davis’ Trainer

“We have two of the best young undefeated guys going at it April 22. You have to be in front of the TV or there in person. They’re going to put on a show.

“Everyone knows what ‘Tank’ is gonna do, because he does it for the fans. You haven’t seen the best of Gervonta Davis yet. Is Ryan ready to bring it out of him?

“These two guys are showing you how boxing is supposed to be. The young ones are coming and this is the start right here.”

JOE GOOSSEN, Garcia’s Trainer

“These are two great guys and they’re going to have it out on April 22. These guys both have an unusual level of talent. I’ve trained a lot of guys over the decades, and Ryan Garcia is one of the most unique individuals I’ve trained, in many ways. He’s one of the most dynamic guys I’ve ever worked with in terms of speed, power, ring IQ, determination and courage.

“This is going to be a great fight. I think both camps realize that each of these guys are at the top of their game and they’re going to put on a great show for the fans. I can’t wait until it’s time to get into the ring and see who’s the best in the world.”

TOM BROWN, President of TGB Promotions

“I want to thank everyone who came together to make this fight happen, and we all know who really made this fight happen, and that’s ‘Tank’ and Ryan. We have a hell of a show and we can’t wait to see ‘Tank’ and Ryan do their thing in the ring on April 22.”

LEONARD ELLERBE, Boxing Promoter

“This is a monster event on April 22. This is must-see. If you can’t be in attendance, be sure to tune in on pay-per-view, because I guarantee you from round one on, it’s going to be nothing but fireworks. This one is ending in a knockout.”

OSCAR DE LA HOYA, Chairman and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions

“This is where legacies start for both fighters. Both fighters are facing someone who’s undefeated and someone who’s at the peak of their career. This is a whole new level and a whole new experience coming out to that ring fighting somebody undefeated with your skill level and your will and your determination. This is what boxing is all about.

“I want to thank Ryan Garcia for wanting this fight for years. Boxing is alive, and the winner will be the face of the sport. So may the best man win.”

BERNARD HOPKINS, Golden Boy Promotions Partner

“This fight reminds me of the big fights we had in the 80’s and early 90’s. I come from a city called Philadelphia and this is what we do and who we like.”

“Around the world, the fans have been craving this fight. So tell all your friends, even the ones you don’t like, to watch this fight.”

STEPHEN ESPINOZA, President, SHOWTIME SPORTS

“These are the types of days and events that remind us all why we got into this sport and why we are fans of this sport.

“I guarantee you with all the experience and all the events these guys on this stage have been through, including myself, each one of us has goosebumps right now because of the energy and adrenaline of nights like this. This is something that only boxing can provide.

“This is a throwback fight. It’s a fight and a rivalry as big as any in this sport. This is exactly the kind of fight that reflects the best that this sport has to offer: two young fighters in their prime, who are the two most exciting young fighters in the sport.

“Outside of the ring, the stories are even better. As different as these two fighters are physically, their personalities and their styles, they are very alike in one way. What these two young men have overcome, the obstacles they have conquered is the stuff of Hollywood movies.

“Mike Tyson once said, ‘You never lose until you give up.’ Giving up is the one thing that neither of these two fighters have done. That’s why I know April 22 will be a classic fight, because these two superstar fighters are willing to take that challenge.”
