ATLANTIC CITY, NEW JERSEY (OCTOBER 22, 2010)—On Friday night November 19th, Spartan Fight Promotions presents a night of championship boxing that is dubbed BATTLE II that will take place from the Harrah’s Resort and Casino in Atlantic City.

Ennis has a record of 16-0 with ten knockouts and is coming off a third round stoppage over Reggie Pena on August 28th in Atlantic City as part of SPARTAN FIGHT PROMOTIONS: BATTLE I and is quickly becoming a force in the loaded Super Middleweight division.

The twenty-seven year old has a very diverse style as he has won fights by displaying his terrific boxing ability while in other bouts he has shown awesome knockout power like the aforementioned bouts.

In those bouts, Ennis has stopped Emanuel Gonzalez (9-6) in three rounds, Frankie Santos (17-8-4) in two rounds, Steve Walker (24-24) in one round and Ennis stopped grizzled veteran Demetrius Davis (20-23-5) in three rounds on July 30th in Philadelphia.

After going 2-1 in his next three fights, Lares won the Texas State Super Middleweight championship with an eight round unanimous decision over Fernando Vela on August 10, 2007.

Lares will be looking to redeem himself after faling short in his two biggest fights to date as he lost a close unanimous decision to David Medina (17-2) on April 5, 2008 and Lares was stopped in two rounds two to future world title challenger Daniel Jacobs (12-0) on December 6, 2008 as part of the mega Oscar De La Hoya – Manny Pacquiao undercard in Las Vegas.

On June 21, 2008 Arreola scored a third round disqualification win in a fight that Witherspoon boxed well but decided “To bring out the Philly in him” and slug with the heavy handed Arreola.

Witherspoon went on to win three consecutive starts which included an eighth round stoppage over Adam “Swamp Donkey” Richards (21-1) on the undercard of the Jermain Taylor – Jeff Lacy battle in Memphis, Tennessee.

In his last bout, Witherspoon took out perennial contender Livin Castillo (16-8) in seven rounds as part of SPARTAN FIGHT PROMOTIONS: BATTLE I on August 28th at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City.

On March 19th, Sheppard dropped a ten round unanimous decision to Chauncey Welliver for the WBC Continental Americas title.

In his last bout, Sheppard lost a debatable majority decision to Nicolai Firtha on August 20th in a bout for the NABA USA title.

Klitschko defends Heavyweight crown with twelve round beatdown of Briggs

In what has become typical Klitschko fashion, Vitali Klitschko retained the WBC Heavyweight title with a twelve round one-sided unanimous decision over former WBO champion Shannon Briggs in front of a pro-Klitschko crowd at O2 Arena in Hamburg, Germany.

Klitshcko used his three inch height advantage to land one-two cominations over the first handful of rounds. Briggs did not have much answer except for an occasional body shot.

Round six was a good one for the champ as Klitshcko started to put his punches together with most of them striking the face of Briggs. Round seven saw Klitshcko start to double and triple up his long jab that he would follow with flush right hands. Klitschko had Briggs in a lot of trouble as he landed crushing shots that backed the challenger up against the ropes as the round ended. As each round wore on it became less competitive with the only thing is question would be Klitschko getting a stoppage victory.

Klitshcko rocked Briggs at the end of then ninth and throughout the tenth with referee Ian Jon Lewis looking on and he would be have been fine to stop the bout at any time but Briggs took a beating and even was talking to champ as he was eating leather. It was during that round that blood started appearing from around the nose of Briggs.

It was more of the same over the final six minutes with Klitschko dominating the action but somehow Briggs was able to see the final bell.

Klitschko, 252 lbs of Kiev, Ukraine won by scores of 120-105; 120-107 and 120-107 to go to 41-2. Briggs, 263 lbs of Brooklyn, NY is now 51-6-2

Perez decisions Salcido

Eloy Perez scored a ten round majority decision Dominic Salcido in Super Featherweight bout at The Fantasy Springs Resort in Indio, California.

Perez, 129 1/2 lbs of Salinas, CA is now 19-0-2. Salcido, 129 3/4 lbs of Riato, CA is now 18-3.

Hot shot Jr. Welterweight prospect Frankie Gomez remained undefeated as he was taken the distance for the first time but pounded out a six round unanimous decision over Roman Montano.

Gomez, 141 lbs of East Los Angeles is now 7-0. Montano, 141 lbs of Las Vegas is now 17-8-2.

Tarver decisions Aguilera in Heavyweight debut

At almost forty-two years old and forty-six pounds heavier then his customary Light Heavyweight weight, Antonio Tarver made a successful debut as a heavyweight as he scored a ten round unanimous decision over Nagy Aguilera at the Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Oklahoma.

Tarver controlled the action over the first three rounds as he boxed very well until injuring his left shoulder sometime around the fourth round. Tarver held his left hand low and fired off quick uppercuts and kept Aguilera against the ropes and reigned in quick combinations and that were mostly capped off by flush left hands to the face.

Aguilera made brief charge in round ten but it was short lived as Tarver was never in any trouble.

Tarver, 221 lbs of Tampa, FL won by scores of 98-92 on all cards to go to 28-6. Aguilera, 232 lbs of Bronx, NY via Dominican Republic is now 16-5

“I feel I looked great,’’ he said. “There was no ring rust. I didn’t get hit much. I didn’t get hurt. I’ll get the shoulder diagnosed, but it didn’t affect me. I wasn’t going to let it affect me. I did what I had to do and stuck to my game plan. I’m back and I’m here to stay. I’m a heavyweight now. The magic still lives.

“There is still work to do,’’ Tarver said. “Aguilera was a good trial horse for me. He surprised me because he stayed on his bicycle so much. But I’ll be back in the gym. I’ve got to power up. I thought I caught him with some good shots. No one (in the heavyweight division) is going to outbox me.’’

Mired by numerous headbutts that caused cuts over both of his eyes, Hector Munoz was tough as nails just to make it to the ninth round with Shawn Porter before the latter finally was able to score the stoppage victory in a scheduled ten round Welterweight bout.

Porter basically won every minute of every round as he landed fast and hard combinations that had Munoz in trouble throughout but Munoz did not take a backwards step and continued to come forward only to absorb punishment until referee Gary Ritter mercifully stopped the bout at 2:05 of round nine.

Porter, 146.4 lbs of of Akron, Ohio remains undefeated at 17-0 with thirteen knockouts. Munoz, 146.8 lbs of Albuquerque, New Mexico is now 18-4-1.

“The fight went exactly as I expected,’’ said Porter, a poised, versatile boxer-puncher who throws power punches in bunches from all angles with both hands. “He came forward all the time and never stopped trying. I was surprised at how long they let the fight go on, but I knew I had to stay focused.’’

“I wanted to draw him forward to get him close, but I never could,’’ Munoz said. “He is not a devastating puncher. He never hurt me or had me shook up. But the cuts were too much to overcome.’’

SERGEY KOVALEV REMAINS UNDEFEATED WITH SPLIT DECISION OVER DARNELL BOONE

ATLANTA, GEORGIA (October 12, 2010)—This past Saturday night in Atlanta, Light Heavyweight sensation Sergey Kovalev ran his record to a perfect 10-0 with 9 KO’s as he was taken distance for the first time in his career and scored an eight round decision over veteran upset specialist Darnell Boone.

This was a great learning experience for Kovalev, who was sent to canvas for the first time in his career in round seven but stood up to win victory.

To have beaten a guy like Boone is a big growth for Kovelev specially in Boone’s home town as Boone has defeated against undefeated Ronald Johnson, Contender Willie Lee (14-3), undefeated James Countryman (8-0); prospect Rasheem Brown (17-2); undefeated James Johnson (7-0); prospects Calvin Green (20-3) and Louis Turner (12-2) in second round knockout stoped hot prospect Adonis Stevenson (13-0) and went to distance 10 rounds with Jean Pascal who is present Light Heavyweight WBC Champion . Boone also has the distinction of scoring a knockdown against world super middleweight champion Andre Ward.

“This is a great win for Sergey”, said Egis Klimas, who manages Kovalev.

“Boone is one of the toughest out there and for Sergey to beat him in just his tenth fight says a lot and gives us the confidence that he can compete with any of the prospects in Light Heavyweight division. “

Right after the win next day, Kovalev and Klimas hopped on a plane to Florida to meet with legendary promoter Don King about a potential promotional deal.

“We had a great meeting with Don”, continued Klimas

“If we can work something out, Sergey will be fighting on the big stage very soon”

Diaz evens score with Noons and retains Strikeforce Welterweight crown

In what turned out to be more of a boxing match then an MMA bout,Nick Diaz got revenge on the last man to beat him while retaining the Strikeforce Welterweight title over KJ Noons in a grudge rematch at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.

Both guys were cut around their right eye’s in round one as the punches were landing with authority with each guy taking turns landing heavy blows. Diaz would mix in an occasion kick and each guy mocked each other. Diaz was outlanded but he landed the flashier punches in what was a intense atmosphere in the arena.

Noons said that he was beaten fair and square but with each guy winning a match there is already talks of a rubber match.

“I knew I won the decision but I’m a little disappointed I didn’t finish him in the first round,’’ said Diaz, a Cesar Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt who only attempted a handful of takedowns.. “I’m a little surprised he hung in like he did because he took a lot of punishment. But he has a good chin.’’

“I was worried about the cut, but my corner told me it wasn’t a big deal,’’ he said. “I am not opposed to a third fight down the road if Noons wins a few fights. Whatever the fans want. Anything is possible.’’

Noons took the tough setback with class. “Honestly, he beat me fair and square. But I landed more punches than him. I out-struck him. Even though I got a little tired at the very end, I kept pushing all the way. I know I was getting to him. If they want a third fight, you know I’ll go for it.’’

Diaz, 169 1/2 lbs of Stockton, CA won by scores of 49-46; 49-47 and 48-47 to go to 23-1-1. Noons, 169 lbs of San Diego, California is now 9-2.

Josh Thomsan fought back from the brink of submission to score a three round unanimous decision over JZ Calvalcante in a Lightweight bout.

Calvalcante almost had the fight over in the first round as he had Thomson in a guillotine head lock for approximately two minuets but he was able to turn the tables in the last seconds of the round. Thomson took the final two rounds and he even played to the cameras while he had Calvalcante in a triangle.

“I probably could have fought much harder but JZ is a very dangerous guy and one of the best in the world and it was obviously very important for me to win so I played it a little safe,’’ Thomson said. “I felt this might go the distance but no way I won that fight, 30-27. He got me a few times, but I hurt more from his two headbutts (that required stitches).’’

Scores were 3-27; 29-28; 29-28 for Thomson who is now 18-3-1. Calvalcante is 15-4-1.

Marloes Coenen won the Ladies Welterweight championship with a stunning submission victory over previously undefeated champion Sarah Kaufamn.

Kaufman had the upper hand over first two plus rounds as she smothered the taller Coenen blows and backed up Coenen. With Coenen down on her back, she went for an armbar with her legs and locked it in successfully and Kaufman tapped out at 1:59 of round three.

“Like I said before, winning the world title can be a life-changing thing for me,’’ said Coenen, whose first defense is slated to be against Miesha Tate, who won a four-woman, one-night 135-pound elimination tournament earlier this year on STRIKEFORCE Challengers on SHOWTIME.

“Miesha won the tournament, she’s a great grappler and obviously very good,’’ Coenen said. “I will definitely have to stand with her. For tonight’s fight, I worked very hard. This is an unbelievable feeling.’’

A disappointed Kaufman took the defeat in stride but is hopeful of a rematch. “This kind of thing happens,’’ she said. “I made a mistake and Marloes capitalized. Up until then, I was fine and felt I was hurting her. She never hurt me. If I have to get back in line and win a fight or two to get a rematch, that’s what I’ll do. I’d love to fight her again.’’

Coenen, 134 lbs of Amsterdam, Netherlands is now 18-4 with thirteen submissions. Kaufamn, 134 1/2 lbs of Victoria, British Colombia is 12-1.

Tyron Woodley made short work of Andre Galvo by scoring a first round stoppage in a scheduled three round Welterweight bout.

Woodley hurt Galvo a handful of times with hard rights and a kicks. Woodley landed a big right hand and pounced on Galvo and before he was able to inflict more damage on a prone Galvo referee Josh Rosenthal stopped the bout at 1:48 of round one.

“I feel awesome,’’ said 5-foot-9, 28-year-old Woodley, a two-time All-American NCAA wrestler for the University of Missouri who was making his first start on the Saturday championship series after fighting three times on STRIKEFORCE Challengers. “I knew I hurt him but wasn’t sure if he was faking or not so I had to be patient.

“Strikeforce Challengers prepared me for this, and it is a tremendous win. But I really expected it to go a lot longer.’’

Woodley, 170 1/2 lbs of St. Louis, MO is now 8-0 with his first stoppage victory. Galvo, 170 1/2 lbs of Rio Brazil is now 5-2.

UNDEFEATED MIDDLEWEIGHT, ISAAC RODRIGUES LIVING THE AMERICAN DREAM–WATCH HIM FIGHT LIVE ON GFL

CLICK TO ORDER THE FIGHT
VERONA, NEW YORK (September 28, 2010)—This Saturday night at the Turning Stone Casino and Resort, undefeated r Middleweight prospect, Isaac Rodriguez will look to capture the WBC/USNBC championship when he tussles with Samuel Miller in a twelve round main event that will highlight a seven bout card.

Rodrigues of Brazil moved to the city of Belem at the age of seventeen where he took up boxing. Unlike most boys in the South American country, Rodrigues has no aspirations of being a soccer star.

Rodrigues has an uncle who was a boxer and that facilitated him, towards the sport and he amassed a amateur record of 51-4.

Rodrigues was inspired by Brazilian mega-star Acelino “Popo” Freitas and his uncle had a relationship with famed trainer Oscar Suarez, who ironically trained Freitas and the connection was made for Rodrigues to further his career in the United States.

Rodrigues won his first eight professional bouts in his native Brazil before making his American debut on April 28, 2007 on the undercard of Freitas unification showdown with Juan Diaz.

“There are not of experienced fighters in Brazil”, said Rodrigues

“I have learned a lot from every fight and fighter that I see”, continued Rodrigues, who describes his style as a fan friendly boxer/counter-puncher.

Rodrigues won three straight in the United States before heading back to Brazil

Just months after Rodrigues won the WBO Latino championship, unfortunately for Rodriguez, Suarez passed away.

Luckily Rodrigues had a strong team behind him as Suarez’ wife Marie took over reigns as the manager.

“I have been around the sport for twenty-three years doing everything in the background”, said Marie Suarez.

“I understand the business. If I were a fighter, I would be a world champion”

“I know that Isaac is world championship material and we feel that we have a very sellable product. He is a very good kid and extremely humble and we believe he has what it takes to go all the way.”

New trainer Francisco Guzman has been brought in to work with Rodrigues and the soon to be twenty-six year old continues to get better every day.

Working with Marie Suarez is long time and respected boxing man, Dave Escalet.

“This is a big fight to see where Isaac fits in the middleweight division”, Said Escalet

“With the new trainer, we are taking this one fight at a time and we think that by the end of 2011, Isaac will be ready for anybody in the top-ten”

When Rodrigues is not training, he spends his time in his adopted home of West Berlin, New Jersey where he likes to cook, play cards and watch American Football.

In the exciting co-feature, local favorite Brian Miller will take on Ikem Orji in an eight round Jr. Welterweight bout.

Miller of Schenectady, New York is undefeated with a record 8-0-4 with three knockouts and is known as a hard working customer who will fight anybody at anytime.

Miller has signature wins over Broderick Antoine and a split decision win over Danny McDermott (8-1-1). He is coming off a draw with tough Italian Floriano Pagliara (10-4) on September 11.

Martinez – Williams II is ON for November 20 in Atlantic City

One of the most highly anticipated rematches has finally been inked as according to Dan Rafael of espn.com, Middleweight world champion Sergio Martinez will defend his crown against Paul Williams on November 20 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

“It’s nice to get it completed,” Dan Goossen, Williams’ promoter, said. “It’s not a matter of whose fault it is [that the fight took so long to make], it’s a matter that you have two of the most feared fighters in the world facing each other. It doesn’t just get made overnight. There’s a lot more to it. That’s what took time.”

Said Lou DiBella, Martinez’s promoter, “Martinez is not afraid of anybody and we did the deal that HBO wanted us to do. My take on the fight it’s the best f—— fight the rest of the year. Period. It’s the best fight for fight fans and they don’t have to fork over $60 to watch it on pay-per-view.”

The fight will be contracted at 157 pounds.

“It’s at 157 because we didn’t have a choice,” DiBella said. “Williams wanted the catch weight. There was an issue on the weight and we gave on the weight.”

When they met for the first time on Dec. 5 in the smaller arena upstairs at Boardwalk Hall, both fighters were knocked down in the first round of what turned out to be a rousing, slugfest and one of the most action-packed fights of the year. Williams won a heavily disputed majority decision in the nontitle bout.

“The fight can’t miss,” DiBella said. “You saw the first fight but I thought my guy won the first fight and I think he’ll win this one easier. I don’t think you’ll ever fight Paul Williams and have an easy fight, but I think this time he will win more clearly.”

“Sergio has just wanted to get back in the ring and wants to be treated like the middleweight champion,” DiBella said. “He knows what this fight means. He knows it’s the last time he will be bullied by anybody in a business sense. That won’t happen again if he wins. If he can beat Paul Williams after what he did to Pavlik and the damage he and Williams did to each other in the first fight, people should give him his props and he should be considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world below Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather. Sergio can establish himself at that level if he can perform in this fight. This is the prime of his career. This fight is everything to him.”

“Paul is very excited about the fight, so is [trainer] George [Peterson],” Goossen said. “It’s the type of fight boxing needs and wants and one that we’re looking to deliver. When everything is said and done, this is the fight everyone wants. But we never made any bones about the fact that we were looking for a welterweight fight. It wasn’t that we didn’t want a Sergio Martinez fight. We were hoping for the big fight at 147 pounds. We didn’t get it and therefore we went for the next biggest fight, and that was obviously against Sergio.

“The great thing about is it Paul will have more than three weeks to train for Martinez, which is what happened last time when Pavlik pulled out and we had to change opponents and train for a southpaw.”

Bradley – Alexander fight closer to happening

According to Dan Rafael of espn.com, talks have re-heated for a proposed January showdown between 140 lb titlists Timothy Bradley and Devon Alexander.

Alexander has already agreed to the January 29 fight as well as a proposed rematch in the late spring.

Bradley was balking that he would have to sign a contract extension with his promoter Gary Shaw.

However, Bradley and his managers, Cameron Dunkin and Michael Miller, have not been able to come to terms with Shaw.

The issue has been Shaw’s demand that Bradley agree to an extension of their promotional contract beyond its May 10 expiration as part of the deal to get the fight with Alexander, which Bradley and his team rejected.

However, the breakthrough came Friday, when the managers said Shaw offered Bradley a two-fight deal — the Alexander fight plus an automatic rematch, win or lose — and agreed to end his demand for a contract extension.

“HBO is willing to do both fights and so are we, as long as the rematch takes place by May,” Miller said. “But we’d give them until June 4.”

“We talked to Tim and he’s interested in the deal, but he wants to talk it over with is wife,” Miller said. “He thinks the money is still short, but he wants the fight. He’s supposed to get back to us Monday.”

“I won’t tell my fighter to sign a long-term agreement before he listens to other offers,” Dunkin said. “But this is going to be Timmy’s call on what he wants to do. He’ll tell us what he wants to do and we’ll go from there.”

It was an action filled fight at times with the challenger trying to exchange with the classy champion. The two fighters slipped numerous times on the wet canvas. Soto was very effective going to the challengers body while Monterrosa was looking for one shot in effort to wrestle away the title.

Scores were 118-109, 115-112 and 115-112 for Soto, 135 lbs of Los Mochis, Mexico and is now 53-7-2. Monterrosa, 135 lbs of Barranquilla, Colombia is now 23-2.

Pascal – Hopkins official

According to Dan Rafael the WBC/Ring Magazine Light Heavyweight champion Jean Pascal will take on Bernard Hopkins on December 18th in Quebec City, Canada and it will be televised on Showtime PPV.

“Showtime will be using their announcers and doing it like a first-class Showtime broadcast. Showtime is excited about it and so are we,” Said Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer.

Hopkins said he weighed 182 pounds on Thursday and was anxious to begin training for the 175-pound fight. He usually prepares for fights in Miami, but said he would instead train in either Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains or New York’s Catskill Mountains.

“I’m doing that because of the climate and the conditions,” Hopkins told ESPN.com just before signing on the dotted line. “I’m not going to train in 80-degree Miami and then go to Canada, where it will be five below.”

“This is the fight where I see if I can go forward or does it end for me,” said Hopkins, who routed nemesis Roy Jones in a lopsided decision in April in a rematch of Jones’ middleweight title win 17 years ago.

“I know what I gotta do to pull out another surprise,” Hopkins said.

DANNY “SWIFT” GARCIA STEPS UP TO FACE FORMER WORLD TITLE CHALLENGER “MIGHTY” MIKE ARNAOUTIS ON OCTOBER 8TH AT THE ARENA (FORMALLY THE NEW ALHAMBRA) IN SOUTH PHILADELPHIA

PHILADELPHIA (September 15, 2010)—On Friday night October 8th, one of the hottest prospects in boxing, undefeated Danny “Swift” Garcia will take on his toughest challenger to date when he battles former world title challenger, “Mighty” Mike Arnaoutis in ten round Jr. Welterweight bout that will highlight a night of world class boxing at The Arena (Formally The New Alhambra) in South Philadelphia.

The show is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions in association with Joe Hand Promotions.

Garcia of Philadelphia has quickly risen up the short list of potential world champions as he has amassed a perfect mark of 18-0 with twelve wins coming by knockout.

In just his fourth pro bout, Garcia fought and scored a six round unanimous decision over former four-time world title challenger, Julio Gamboa (28-12-2) on May 3rd, 2008.

Garcia made an emphatic statement as he returned to his hometown to score a “Highlight Reel” second round destruction of Enrique Colin (29-5-3) on December 2nd at The Liacouras Center on the Bernard Hopkins-Enrique Ornelas undercard.

The twenty-two year then headlined in Philadelphia for the first time and took out rugged Christopher Fernandez (18-9-1) in round seven of a scheduled ten round bout that was seen all over the United States on Telefutura.

In his last bout, Garcia took on Jorge Romero (17-2) in Cancun, Mexico. Garcia scored a ninth round knockout that was highlighted by a left hook that made the fight a candidate for Knockout of the year and in the process gave Garcia the WBC Interim Youth Championship.

“I’m very excited to give my home town another great show and put the city of Philadelphia back on the boxing map”, said Garcia

“I’m very excited to be fighting Mike and after this win, all the top Jr. Welterweights in the world will know Danny “Swift” Garcia is for real.”

Arnaoutis of Atlantic City, New Jersey by way of Athens, Greece has been in many big fights over the past five years.

Arnaoutis had his “coming out party” as he engaged with undefeated future world champion Juan Urango (13-0) in what was one of the best bouts of 2004.

The bout was ruled a draw in the action packed contest where many watching around the country on SHO BOX felt Arnaoutis should have received the nod.

He received a world title fight against power punching Ricardo Torres (29-1) on November 18, 2006 as part of the Manny Pacquiao – Erik Morales III undercard in Las Vegas.

Arnaoutis scored a knockdown but came up just short as he lost a razor thin split decision.

Arnaoutis then lost WBO title elimination bout to Kendall Holt.

It has been a roller coaster for Arnaoutis since that fight as he has gone 5-4 with quality wins over Lanardo Tyner (19-0) and Doel Carrasquillo.

Arnaoutis recently tried his luck in the Welterweight division but fell short against the likes of former world title challenger Delvin Rodriguez (24-4-2) and in his bout he lost a ten round unanimous decision to the highly regarded Demetrious Hopkins (29-1-1) on July 2nd, 2010 in Ontario, California in a bout that was broadcasted on ESPN 2.

The co-feature will showcase undefeated Lightweight Michael Perez (9-0-1, 4 KO’s) of Newark, New Jersey in a six round bout.

Anthony Flores (9-1-1, 6 KO’s) will see action in an eight round Super Featherweight bout

DEREK AND FARAH ENNIS TO HIGHLIGHT WEDNESDAY NIGHT FIGHTS AT THE NATIONAL GUARD ARMORY ON WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 13TH IN NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA

PHILADELPHIA (September 14, 2010)—On Wednesday night October, 13th brother Derek and Farah Ennis will headline an International boxing card that will originate from the National Guard Armory in Northeast Philadelphia.

The show will be promoted by No Limits Promotions and Fingermann Promotions

Derek Ennis, the current USBA Jr. Middleweight champion will be in the main event scheduled for ten rounds in a non-title bout against an opponent to be named later.

Ennis of Philadelphia has a record of 22-2-1 with thirteen knockouts and is coming off one of the most exciting victories of his career as he outlasted Gabriel Rosado on July 30th at the Arena in Philadelphia in what was one of the most anticipated fights in Philadelphia in a decade.

The two went toe to toe over twelve rounds and thrilled the sellout crowd and will go down as another classic battle between Philadelphia fighters.

When the scores were tallied, Ennis gained the victory by scores of 117-111; 116-112 and 114-114 to make the first defense of the USBA belt.

Ennis won the USBA Jr. Middleweight title with a tremendous back and forth brawl and won a hard fought twelve round unanimous decision over Eromosele Albert on October 16th and The Legendary Blue Horizon.

Ennis and Albert exchanged hard combinations in close and the near-sellout crowd at The Legendary Blue Horizon was entertained as the fight was one of the best in Philadelphia in the past few years.

Ennis won by scores of 116-112, 115-113 and 115-113 in the bout for which most ringside observers thought could have gone either way.

That win catapulted Ennis into the world rankings as he is now ranked number ten by the IBF.

The win over Rosado was Ennis’ tenth straight victory and he holds win over Albert (22-3-1), John Mackey (11-3-2) and Troy Browning (20-2-1) in that streak.

The co-feature will pit Ennis’ brother and undefeated Super Middleweight, Farah Ennis in an eight round bout against an opponent to be named.

Farah has a record of 16-0 with ten knockouts and is coming off a third round stoppage over Reggie Pena on August 28th in Atlantic City and is quickly becoming a force in the loaded Super Middleweight division.

He has been one of the most active fighters around as this will be his sixth fight in 2010 and he has stepped the competition with each bout. His previous five bouts have produced knockout victories for Ennis.

The twenty-seven year old Ennis turned pro in February of 2006 by scoring a second round stoppage over Sylvester Golding in Philadelphia.

He has fought up and down the east coast by fighting in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Tennessee and this will be his first fight in New Jersey.

A full undercard will be announced shortly.

SEPHORA RAISES ITS PROFILE.(starts marketing campaign)(Brief Article) go to website sephora coupon code

WWD May 10, 2002 | Weil, Jennifer PARIS — For the past 15 years, Sephora saw no need to advertise here. But times have changed.

The retailer claims it has finally achieved enough consumer awareness to be considered a brand, not just a store. Also, the battle for Europe has reached a decisive stage, with Parfumeries Marionnaud — who’s long been in the ad game and bills itself as France’s number one player — swiftly starting its putsch in other European countries. Moreover, with rumors swirling that Sephora is up for sale, the moment’s opportune.

Come May 16, the LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton-owned perfumery chain’s European branch will unveil its first ever large-scale campaign, and media push since 1987, to leverage the brand. It will consist primarily of billboard ads and in-store visuals.

“Last year, we did an in-depth brand study — when Serge Brunschwig [president of Sephora Europe] arrived — to see how Sephora stores were perceived,” explained Alexandre Rata, the company’s private label manager. Sephora, they found, had become a beauty reference, with its wide selection and “freedom” offered through its open-sell format among the aspects lauded by people canvassed in Paris, Marseilles and New York.

As a result, Rata reported: “We have something to say.” Sephora, added Brunschwig, has now reached the critical mass for this type of venture. The chain now has 393 doors.

Its new ad campaign, set to break first in France and then roll out to other European countries, probably Italy and Poland first, is the next step in Brunschwig’s strategy to keep Sephora on the cutting edge.

While the company would not disclose numbers, industry sources estimated the campaign will cost between $3 million to $4 million.

The phrase “Beauty is a language” serves as the tag line for the campaign, at whose heart are nine visuals and eight text panels depicting the story of a young woman and man at intimate moments of the morning and evening, which run side by side above the in-store merchandising units. For it, Rachel Kirby and Lawrence Chapman were shot by Glen Luchford, of Le Singe agency.

The campaign is chockablock with soft-focus, dreamy visuals meant to transform the store’s spirit. web site sephora coupon code

The first visual depicts a young woman bathing, while the next panel reads: “My bath oil reminds you of me.” In the subsequent image, the woman looks at herself in a mirror, and its text panel reads: “My body lotion reminds you of me.” The story progresses with images of the young woman lying down, then she and the man are present. Texts refer to the effects body lotion, fragranced soap, lipstick, fragrance and eau de toilette have on the pair.

In one institutional campaign, which is the last visual in the in-store series, the woman has her hands cupped around her mouth as though shouting or whispering the slogan. This will be on 15,000 billboards throughout France and also over part of the Samaritaine department store building in Paris, which is under construction and will house a Sephora megastore. The other institutional campaign, which shows part of the woman’s made-up face and the tag line, is destined for 3,000 billboards.

In all, some 6,000 new images will be mounted in Sephora stores across France.

“Beauty is a language” will also appear on sales clerks’ black long-sleeve T-shirts, on the newfangled Sephora shopping bags and on 150,000 fragrance blotters.

There will also be a radio campaign in France, from May 16-26, comprised of 15- and 30-second spots.

“It’s not just an advertising campaign, but a veritable philosophy,” explained Rata, referring to the entire package.

And it is a philosophy the public is meant to espouse.

Starting in six days and running through the end of May, when customers enter the Sephora Champs-Elysees flagship store, they’ll be handed a copy of the perfumery’s new “manifesto,” which concludes: “Beauty is a language and Sephora is expert. Sephora affirms and proves that beauty is a rich, living, eternal language. Beauty is a language. It’s beautiful. Sephora.” Weil, Jennifer
