VERONA, NY (January 26, 2011)—This Saturday night at the beautiful Turning Stone Casino and Resort in Verona, New York, undefeated female featherweight, Amanda Serrano will look to “avenge” her only career blemish when she takes on Ela Nunez in a six round bout.

The main event will feature a ten round heavyweight battle for the WBC Caribbean Heavyweight championship between former U.S. Olympian Jason “Big Six” Estrada and Franklin Lawrence.

The fight card will be streamed all over the world LIVE on www.gofightlive.tv

Serrano and Nunez fought to a toe to toe draw back on November 20, 2009 in Atlantic City.

Serrano of Brooklyn, New York has a record of 7-0-1 with four knockouts, knows the first fight was an aberration and will look to not only win but emphatically on Saturday.

“I took the first fight on short notice”, said Serrano.

“I only knew about for a week. This fight will be different as I am training much harder and there will be no surprises.”

Serrano was influenced by her sister, former two-time title challenger Cindy Serrano, who herself is 15-3-1.

“I was in the gym all day watching her. I just wanted to fight and then I won the Golden Gloves. She is my best sparring partner and she always gives me hints to help me improve.”

“I take this sport seriously and would someday want to be the face of woman’s boxing”, said the twenty-two year old Serrano.

Since the draw with Nunez, Serrano has won three in a row which includes her last bout when she scored a fourth round stoppage over Jennifer Encarncion on September 18th in the Dominican Republic.

Nunez of Jamestown, New York has a record of 9-7-1 with two knockouts.

Nunez has been in with the top woman boxers in the world such as Melissa Hernandez, Rhonda Luna, Lindsey Garbatt, Missy Fiorentino, and Kina Malpartida.

In the co-feature, Isaac Rodriguez (17-1, 13 KO’s) of West Berlin, NJ via Brazil will look to get back in the win column after his pro defeat will take on upset minded Jose Medina of Tilton, New Hampshire.

Medina steps in for Russell Jordan who was injured in training.

Medina has a record of 12-9 with five knockouts.

Medina has been in the ring with former world title challenger Elvin Ayala (9-0); Jason LeHoullier (16-0) and in his last bout he dropped an eight round unanimous decision to Gabriel Rosado on December 9th.

In a six round Welterweight bout, Martin Wright (8-0-2, 4 KO’s) of Brooklyn, NY will take on Stephen Scott (5-2) of Albany, New York.

Domino’s tries to slice itself bigger pizza the action go to site dominos coupon codes

Chicago Sun-Times February 19, 1991 | Michael Kersmarki ANN ARBOR, Mich. While most of us view pizza as a $10 decision involving sausage, pepperoni and green peppers, operations like Domino’s and Pizza Hut have a lot more dough at stake.

Last year, for example, Domino’s Pizza profits grew by 50 percent to $5.4 million after more than a year of cost-cutting and layoffs. But the nation’s No. 2 pizza chain added only 218 stores last year – the lowest number since 1983 at a firm accustomed to rapid growth.

President P. David Black nevertheless predicts a new strategy of using native franchisees instead of importing U.S. citizens should revive a stalled drive overseas, which Domino’s Chairman Thomas S. Monaghan has called a financial “bloodbath.” Still, analysts caution that Domino’s success mostly depends on what it does in the United States, home to most of its more than 5,300 stores.

They say the company needs to cook up spicier advertising to slow down rival Pizza Hut’s accelerating drive to overcome Domino’s dominance of home delivery.

Black agrees and is reviewing the Ann Arbor-based company’s 16-year relationship with the Group 243 advertising agency here. But he emphasizes that sustained growth ultimately hinges on Domino’s continued devotion to service and its trademark 30-minute delivery guarantee.

Milford Prewitt, senior editor for Nation’s Restaurant News, a New York-based trade magazine, says the battle is far from over.

“Domino’s is still in a pretty good situation. It has low . . . costs in the fastest-growing segment of the restaurant business – pizza delivery,” Prewitt says. “But Pizza Hut has a rich parent, greater resources and is moving in. Domino’s (slowing) numbers may be reflecting that.” PepsiCo, parent company to Pizza Hut, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Taco Bell, has become the second-largest restaurant company in the world. Its three fast-food chains have more than $11 billion in combined sales – accounting for three of the nation’s top 10 fast-food chains. go to website dominos coupon codes

By comparison, Domino’s posted a 6 percent sales gain to $2.65 billion in 1990.

Even so, Domino’s still controls about half the pizza delivery market, compared with barely more than 10 percent for Pizza Hut. More than 2,300 of Pizza Hut’s 6,600 U.S. outlets offer delivery. Pizza Hut is the nation’s largest pizza restaurant chain and has about 8,000 stores worldwide.

Black maintains Domino’s will continue to shape up after enduring a crash diet of consolidating regional offices and eliminating more than 100 headquarters jobs since late 1989. The budget-conscious company also has ended expensive sports sponsorships, including the racing team that won the Indianapolis 500 last year.

The restructuring helped Domino’s after-tax earnings rise 50 percent in 1990 despite a year of depressed profit margins from intensely competitive price-cutting such as two pizzas for the price of one.

A bright spot is that cheese prices have dropped by a third in the past year, Prewitt says. Cheese accounts for two-fifths of the cost of preparing food in a pizza. Food expenses add up to nearly a fourth of a pizza’s over-all cost.

However, some analysts are quick to note that Domino’s 1990 gain is nothing to shout about. That’s because its 1989 profit of $3.6 million was the worst in a spectacular decade dominated by a five-year dash when Domino’s opened 3,600 stores from 1984 through 1988.

Domino’s ended 1990 with 5,376 stores, the second consecutive year it failed to add more that 300 stores.

Matthysse batters Corley over eight by scoring NINE knockdowns

In one of the most dubious refereeing jobs in recent memory, former world champion DeMarcus “Chop Chop” Corley was allowed to be dropped NINE times in dropping about to Lucas Matthysse via eighth round stoppage in Mendoza, Argentina.

Matthyse softened Corley up over the first four round before dropping Cor twice in round five, once in round six, three times in round seven and two times in round eight. Most of the shots were hooks to the body and ironically the last knockdown looked like Matthysse clearly missed Corley but Corley slipped and the referee waved the bout off.

Matthysse, 139 1/2 lbs was fighting for the first time since his first professional loss which came last November to Zab Judah is now 28-1 with twenty-six knockouts. Corley, 138 3/4 lbs of Washington, DC is now 37-16-1

Claudio Tapia scored a fourth round stoppage over previously undefeated Pablo Barboza in a scheduled six round Super Featherweight bout.

Barboza was docked two points in round three for low blows. That seemed to incite Tapia as he came out with reckless abandon as he dropped Barboza twice with the first coming from a wild left hook. He finished Barboza off with a head shot and the referee counted Barboza out.

Tapia, 129 1/2 lbs of Buenos Aries, ARG is now 19-10-4 with six knockouts. Barboza, 129 1/4 lbs of Santa Fe, ARG is now 13-1.

Oscar Medina, 148 1/2 lbs of Buenos, Aries, ARG scored a four round split decision over Diego Ledesma, 147 lbs of Cordoba, ARG.

VICTOR “THE BARBER” VASQUEZ LOOKS TO CUT DOWN OSNEL CHARLES ON JANUARY 22ND AT HARRAH’S IN CHESTER

CHESTER, PA (January 12, 2011)—One of the most famous movie scenes in the past quarter century took place in the movie Coming to America when Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall played many different characters in a barbershop and began arguing who the greatest heavyweight amongst Joe Louis, Muhammad Ali and Rocky Marciano.

One man who can attest that scenarios like that are common place all over the country is Lightweight Victor Vasquez, who on January 22nd will take on Osnel Charles in the main event of the first event boxing event at Harrah’s in Chester, PA

Vasquez is a licensed barber who has been cutting hair for the better part of a decade.

“Everybody comes in there argues sports”, said Vasquez, who has a professional record of 12-4-1 with six knockouts.

“The best thing about it is that I box so I have a more authentic opinion I guess. But it’s fun because everyone has an opinion and over the past couple years we have had some good arguments when the topic is Mayweather-Pacquiao”

Vasquez is Philadelphia’s uncrowned Blood and Guts champion for his many wars plus the great fan base he has built up since turning pro in 2006.

“I love the support. It’s great that random people come into the barber shop and buy tickets to see me fight”

Vasquez looks forward to a big 2011.

Herrera had some good moments as he landed combinations as he jumped in and out in an effort to stay away from the heavy hands of Provodnikov.

With each round, Herrera’s left eye was the focus of the ringside doctor as Herrera was checked multiple times throughout the contest. Provodnikov was effective with over hand right’s which caused blood to start leaking from the nose of of Herrera. Everytime Provodnikov seemed to be in control, Herrera showed guts by firing back and landing some solid combinations. Herrera’s will kept him in the fight and he had a solid last round where he landed his biggest punch of the fight.
