UFC TO LAUNCH DANA WHITE’S CONTENDER SERIES ASIA IN 2020
LAS VEGAS and SHANGHAI – UFC®, the world’s premier mixed martial arts organization, today announced plans to launch the first-ever Asia edition of Dana White’s Contender Series, the groundbreaking mixed martial arts fight series that showcases up-and-coming talent, as well as athletes striving to revive their professional careers.
The inaugural season of Dana White’s Contender Series Asia will launch in 2020 and be hosted from the new, state-of-the-art UFC Performance Institute in Shanghai. At 93,000 square feet, the building is the world’s largest MMA training and development facility and nearly three times as large as the original UFC Performance Institute® in Las Vegas. The structure was built with advanced production capabilities with spectator seating that allows UFC to produce and distribute events, such as Dana White’s Contender Series, and other original programming.
One of my favorite parts of my job is looking for up-and-coming talent,” said UFC President Dana White. “There’s no area in the world right now with more potential MMA talent than Asia. We’re going to use Dana White’s Contender Series to find these fighters, develop them, and give them the opportunity to perform on the biggest stage in combat sports.”
Like its U.S. counterpart, Dana White’s Contender Series Asia will feature both male and female athletes. All 11 UFC weight classes will be considered for the show and bout results will count towards athletes’ professional records.
In the United States, the series has launched UFC careers for notable athletes, including bantamweight Sean O’Malley (10-0); heavyweight Greg Hardy (5-1); and flyweight Maycee Barber (8-0). Additional details concerning fight schedules, format, and participants will be announced at a later date.

Well-rested Nordby ready for another run to the top
PROVIDENCE, RI (October 24, 2019) – Bantamweight Kody Nordby contemplated retirement following his shocking loss to Tony Gravely at CES MMA 53. He had just returned home from a nine-month deployment to Iraq and Syria as a Sergeant with the U.S. Army and his wife was pregnant with their second child.
Not so fast.
While sitting at home watching Dana White’s Contender Series week in, week out, the 26-year-old Cumberland, RI, native realized he had a lot left in the tank, not to mention an opportunity to take his dormant career to the next level.
“Each week, I’m watching, and I’m like, ‘Wow, I can’t believe that guy made it so soon,’” Nordby said of the groundbreaking series, which offers winners a chance to earn a contract with the UFC.
“I can’t just sit on the sidelines watching these people I know I can beat go out there and win. It lit a fire.”
The heat is back on Friday night as Nordby (9-5) makes his long-awaited return at CES 59 at Twin River Casino Hotel on UFC FIGHT PASS® against Da’mon Blackshear (4-3, 1 KO) of Fayetteville, NC. It’s been 11 months since Nordby’s loss to Gravely on AXS TV, but it didn’t take long for the former standout high school wrestler to get back into fight shape.
As someone who always stays ready – even with his second son entering the world only a month ago – Nordby is as ready as he’ll ever be for what he hopes is another run back to the top of the 135-pound division.
“We’ll see where it goes,” he said. “I’m excited, but I’m going to take it one fight at a time.”
Tickets for CES 59 start at $47 and are available online at www.cesmma.com or www.showclix.com or by phone at 401-724-2253. Doors open at 6 p.m. ET with the first preliminary bout beginning at 7. The UFC FIGHT PASS® live stream kicks off at 8 with the broadcast team of Michael Parente and 11-time UFC vet Tom Lawlor. UFC FIGHT PASS® subscriptions are available at www.ufcfightpass.com.
The last time Nordby fought, he was supposed to face Zachary Burhans, but when Gravely’s original opponent, Dinis Paiva, was forced to withdraw the day of the weigh-in, CES MMA presented Nordby with an offer he couldn’t refuse.
“I was in the sauna and I suddenly get the call asking if I wanted to step up to the main event and fight Gravely for the vacant title,” Nordby said. “It was an easy decision. There’s no way you can say no.”
Just a few hours before stepping on the scale, Nordby agreed to change course, knowing he’d have to adapt to facing an accomplished wrestler as opposed to Burhans, a natural striker, in addition to stepping up from a scheduled three-round bout to a potential five-round affair. Nordby came out firing from the opening bell and locked in what appeared to be a solid armbar attempt, but Gravely picked him up off the canvas and slammed him on his head twice. The second blow knocked Nordby unconscious, ending the fight in just 36 seconds.
“It is what it is,” Nordby said. “You just have to roll with the punches.”
Since then, he’s remained active outside the cage, adding a new layer to his game by training with fellow Rhode Islander Nate Andrews, a noted striker who is currently competing with the Professional Fighters League. The goal is to return to the cage with a new skill set in addition to his wrestling acumen.
“I want to showcase my standup more,” Nordby said. “I knew going back and working at Tri-Force MMA would help me bridge that gap.”
“Physically, I feel great,” he continued. “This has been one of the best camps of my life. I’m in really good shape. My wife is doing a great job with the baby letting me get out and train twice a day. Mentally, I’m ready. I’m looking forward to getting back in there.”
Friday’s show also features the return of fan-favorites Paiva (12-7, 7 KOs) of East Providence, RI, and Jose Lugo (4-1, 1 KO) of Woonsocket, RI, in addition to a special appearance by unbeaten light heavyweight William Knight (5-0, 5 KOs) of Connecticut, who recently signed a development deal with the UFC following his win over Herdem Alacabek in Week 8 of the Dana White’s Contender Series. Reigning CES MMA World Heavyweight champion Greg Rebello’s scheduled five-round title defense for Friday’s main card has been postponed to 2020 due to an injury sustained by challenger Parnell Davis.
Making his record 20th appearance with CES MMA, Paiva battles New Jersey’s Tim Dooling (8-5, 3 KOs) while Lugo returns in an intriguing showdown against fellow CES MMA veteran and Whitesville, NY, native Josh Ricci (4-2).
Also on the main card, lightweight Moses Monteiro (2-1, 1 KO) of Everett, MA, battles Darius Estelle (5-2, 2 KOs) of Michigan. Boston lightweight Andres Jeudi (7-6, 3 KOs) fights for the first time since 2016 in a showdown against upstate New York veteran Jacob Bohn (7-6, 1 KO), and Sanad Armouti (1-0, 1 KO), also of Boston, faces Miami’s Marcos Lloreda (6-5, 2 KOs) in welterweight action. Preliminary bouts include bantamweight Askik Ajim (1-0) of Long Island battling Arslan Otchiyev (1-1) of Stratford, CT; welterweight Hugh McKenna (2-4) of Syosset, NY, against fellow New Yorker and undefeated amateur Jarell Davis; and featherweight Nate Ghareeb (1-0, 1 KO) of Southampton, MA, facing East Rochester, NY, native Zachary Johnson (0-2).

Seasoned vet Paiva returns home where it all began
PROVIDENCE, RI (October 23, 2019) – There’s loyalty, and then there’s Dinis Paiva loyalty, the kind of unbreakable bond between fighter and promoter almost unheard of in today’s combat sports environment.
The 31-year-old East Providence, RI, native and fan-favorite at Twin River Casino Hotel returns to CES MMA for the record 20th time – more than any fighter in the promotion’s history – Friday night when he faces New Jersey’s Timothy Dooling (8-5, 3 KOs) in a three-round bantamweight bout on the main card of CES MMA 59 live on UFC FIGHT PASS®.
Since he made his professional debut eight years ago at CES 6 with a knockout win over Jon Marcheterre, Paiva (12-7, 7 KOs) has yet to leave CES MMA or Twin River Casino. All 19 of his professional fights have been at the same venue, which is just a stone’s throw from his hometown and has since become the hub for mixed martial arts in New England.
To some degree, Paiva’s career is the MMA version of The Truman Show; fans have watched him mature through the years from a young, up-and-comer who entered the sport with no goals or expectations to a legitimate world-title contender on the brink of stardom. They experienced his growth through CES MMA’s network television and live streaming platforms. They cheered the highs and mourned the lows, developing the same sense of devotion to Paiva and his journey as the fighter bred with his promoter.
That kind of bond these days is rare. Fighters come and go and some promoters part ways with a once-prized prospect in the aftermath of what may seem like a temporary bump in the round. For Paiva, it was simple: He had no reason to go anywhere else.
“How could Tom Brady not retire with the New England Patriots? That’s his legacy. That’s how people know him,” Paiva said. “That’s how I feel about CES MMA.
“[President] Jimmy Burchfield has been good to me. They’ve always treated me fair. Leaving never crossed my mind or made any sense to me. I’ve been spoiled in a sense because I’ve always had that comfort level of fighting in my backyard. Not a lot of fighters get to experience that the way I have. I’m thankful.”
Start your free trail or purchase a UFC FIGHT PASS® subscription at www.ufcfightpass.com.
Paiva’s road to becoming the most prolific fighter in CES MMA history has had its share of bumps along the way. After winning his pro debut, he lost his next three before rebounding with back-to-back wins to close out 2012. The up-and-down journey continued with two more losses, leaving Paiva at 4-5 facing a career crossroads in what was considered at the time a major step-up bout against 11-5 Joe Cushman at CES 24. Paiva won by knockout 49 seconds into the opening round, a moment he looks back on as the turning point of his career.
“I’ve been more focused on my goals since then,” Paiva said, “and it shows.”
Paiva is 9-2 in his last 11 fights dating back to 2014. He nearly quit following a loss to Rob Sullivan in 2013, but instead began working with trainer Mike Gresh, whom he credits for talking him off the ledge and turning him into a world-title contender. Paiva eventually got his shot at championship glory at CES 50, the promotion’s golden anniversary, but came up short against Andre Ewell. Twenty fights in, the goal remains the same – win a world title and further cement his status as a future CES MMA Hall of Famer.
“Fighting for CES MMA, the people I’ve met along the way, it’s one of the things I’ll always be able to look back on,” Paiva said. “I remember making my pro debut as the first fight of the night in front of a half-empty arena. I worked my way up the ranks, learning things as I went along, and, most importantly, learned the right way to do things.
“Winning a world title is still what it’s all about. I wouldn’t be doing this if there wasn’t a bigger prize at the end. I don’t know how I could ever walk away from the sport without being a CES MMA champion.”
Friday’s stacked lineup also features the return of fan-favorites Kody Nordby (9-5) of Cumberland, RI; Jose Lugo (4-1, 1 KO) of Woonsocket, RI; and a special appearance by unbeaten light heavyweight William Knight (5-0, 5 KOs) of Connecticut, who recently signed a development deal with the UFC following his win over Herdem Alacabek in Week 8 of the Dana White’s Contender Series. Knight faces Marvin Skipper (4-2) of Myrtle Beach, SC, in a three-round bout. Lugo faces CES MMA veteran and Whitesville, NY, native Josh Ricci (4-2) while Nordby – also a former world-title challenger – returns to face Da’mon Blackshear(4-3, 1 KO) of Fayetteville, NC. Reigning CES MMA World Heavyweight champion Greg Rebello (25-9, 16 KOs) headlines against an opponent to be determined.
NONG-O GAIYANGHADAO TO DEFEND ONE BANTAMWEIGHT MUAY THAI WORLD TITLE AGAINST SAEMAPETCH FAIRTEX
| 18 October 2019 – Singapore: The largest global sports media property in Asian history, ONE Championship™ (ONE), has just announced its return home to Singapore for ONE: EDGE OF GREATNESS. On Friday, 22 November, the Singapore Indoor Stadium will once again play host to the world’s greatest martial arts athletes. In the main event, reigning ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-O Gaiyanghadao of Thailand will defend his World Title against countryman Saemapetch Fairtex.
More information for ONE: EDGE OF GREATNESS is available at www.onefc.com. Tickets are available at this link: https://www.sportshub.com.sg/ONE Considered one of the greatest strikers of all time, Nong-O has captured nearly every accolade in Muay Thai. He made his first appearance at the famed Rajadamnern Stadium when he was just a teenager and won. That set off an incredible run of success. The icon has competed in over 300 professional bouts. During that time, he claimed two Thailand National Muay Thai Championships, four Lumpinee Stadium Muay Thai World Championships in different divisions, and a Rajadamnern Stadium Muay Thai World Championship. Since joining the world’s best strikers in ONE Super Series, Nong-O has dominated the competition. In February, he captured the inaugural ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title with a unanimous decision victory over Han Zi Hao. He has since successfully defended his belt twice. Nong-O’s next opponent is countryman Saemapetch, one of the fastest rising stars in Thailand. The former MTGP Welterweight World Champion joined ONE Super Series in 2018 and has since impressed during his time inside the ring. Prodigiously talented, Saemapetch took up Muay Thai at the age of 11, and a mere three years later, he was competing at the famed Rajadamnern Stadium in Bangkok. Now training out of the renowned Fairtex camp in Pattaya, alongside the likes of Muay Thai World Champions Yodsanklai IWE Fairtex and Stamp Fairtex, Saemapetch is certainly a noteworthy talent to watch out for. In the co-main event of the evening, former ONE World Title challengers Amir Khan of Singapore and Ev “E.T.” Ting of Malaysia will do battle in a lightweight mixed martial arts contest. Khan, a Singaporean Muay Thai champion, has faced the biggest names in ONE Championship’s lightweight division, including former ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard Folayang and former ONE Featherweight World Champion Honorio Banario. Ting, on the other hand, is coming off a spectacular come-from-behind victory against Daichi Abe last July. The Malaysian-Kiwi sensation, who is one of the world’s best lightweights, blazed a trail across Asia, New Zealand, and Australia before making waves on the global stage of ONE Championship. Originally born in Malaysia, Ting was once a promising soccer player in school. But in 2009, he decided to switch his focus to mixed martial arts and began training at a local gym in Auckland. He made his professional debut in 2011, and has since defeated proven contenders such as former ONE Welterweight World Champion Nobutatsu Suzuki, Ariel Sexton, and Kamal Shalorus. The rest of the card is stacked with even more world-class martial artists and local talent. Singaporean star Tiffany Teo is set to make her ONE Championship return against promotional newcomer Maira Mazar of Brazil. Teo is one of the fastest rising stars in Asia. She began her training in taekwondo, and then later moved on to compete in Muay Thai, boxing, and finally, mixed martial arts. The former ONE Women’s Strawweight World Title challenger now welcomes Mazar to the Circle. The Brazilian is riding a two-bout win streak, and she would love to extend it to three in her ONE Championship debut. Also on the card is undefeated American featherweight Troy Worthen, who faces Chinese knockout artist “Rock Man” Chen Lei. Worthen, who trains out of Evolve in Singapore, is a former NCWA Conference Champion and All-American with over 400 career wrestling matches under his belt. He made his mixed martial arts debut in 2015 and has since won all five of his bouts. He signed with ONE Championship last July and debuted with a second-round technical knockout victory over Chen Rui. His opponent, the hard-hitting “Rock Man,” is a Shanghai Open BJJ Champion known for his fast and powerful hands. Chen started his ONE Championship career finishing his first four opponents in spectacular fashion. Former ONE Strawweight World Champion Alex “Little Rock” Silva of Brazil is set to take on China’s Peng Xue Wen in a strawweight contest. Silva, a mainstay at Evolve in Singapore, is fresh off an impressive second-round submission victory over Stefer Rahardian. Peng, on the other hand, is a winner of two of his last three bouts. Silva’s Evolve teammate, multiple-time Muay Thai World Champion and former ONE Strawweight World Champion Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke of Thailand, will see action against Pakistan’s Muhammad “The Spider” Imran. In addition to that, Singapore-based Indian martial artist Rahul “The Kerala Krusher” Raju will face Pakistan’s Ahmed “The Wolverine” Mujtaba. Lastly, in a Muay Thai contest, Thailand’s Petchmorakot Petchyindee Academy takes on the United Kingdom’s Charlie Peters. More bouts for ONE: EDGE OF GREATNESS will be announced at a later date. ONE Championship also announced a partnership with HotelPlanner, a leading provider of online solutions and services to the global hotel sales market. Hua Fung Teh, Group President of ONE Championship, stated: “It is my pleasure to announce that ONE Championship has teamed up with HotelPlanner as our hotel booking partner. Winner of The Ultimate Fighter season 21, Usman (15-1, fighting out of Dallas, Tx. by way of Auchi, Nigeria) is unbeaten since joining the UFC roster in 2015. He ascended the 170-pound ranks with impressive wins against Rafael Dos Anjos, Demian Maia and Leon Edwards, and his last outing saw him dominate Tyron Woodley to capture the welterweight championship in March. Usman now looks to take out his most heated rival to earn his first successful title defense.
Former UFC interim welterweight champion Covington (15-1, fighting out of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) is poised to prove he’s the best in the world at 170 pounds. Currently riding a seven-fight win streak, the NCAA Division I All-American wrestler has netted big victories over Dos Anjos, Maia and Dong Hyun Kim, but Covington secured his most impressive win to date in his last outing against former champion Robbie Lawler in August. He now aims to settle the score with Usman and take home the welterweight championship.
Among the most dominant champions on the UFC roster, Holloway (21-4, fighting out of Waianae, Hawaii) has beaten the who’s who of the featherweight division. Over the course of his career, he’s scored dominant wins over former UFC title holders Frankie Edgar, Jose Aldo (twice) and Anthony Pettis, as well as top contender Brian Ortega. The Hawaiian now looks to take out one of the division’s most dangerous contenders for his fourth successful title defense.
Unbeaten for over six years, Volkanovski (20-1, fighting out of Windang, New South Wales, Australia) aims to be the next Australian athlete to capture a world championship. The former rugby player has been on a tear since joining the UFC roster in late 2016, securing impressive victories over Aldo, Chad Mendes, Darren Elkins, Jeremy Kennedy and Mizuto Hirota. Volkanovski now has his sights on dethroning Holloway to hand the Hawaiian his first featherweight loss since 2013.
The greatest women’s fighter in mixed martial arts history, Nunes (18-4, fighting out of Coral Springs, Fla. by way of Bahia, Brazil) won her first encounter with De Randamie via TKO in 2013. Her resume also includes first-round stoppage wins over former bantamweight champions Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate and Holly Holm. Nunes also became the first female two-division titleholder in UFC history last December with a 51-second KO victory against Cris Cyborg. She now hopes to etch her fifth bantamweight title defense in dominant fashion.
Former UFC featherweight champion De Randamie (9-3, fighting out of Utrecht, The Netherlands) is gunning for a measure of revenge against Nunes. Since that loss, she has won five straight with dominant victories over Raquel Pennington, Holly Holm and Larissa Pacheco. In July, De Randamie delivered a spectacular 16-second TKO win against Aspen Ladd. She now aims to become the second woman to win UFC championships in two divisions by handing Nunes her first loss in over five years.
Additional bouts on the card include:
Perennial fan favorite Matt Brown (23-16, fighting out of Denver, Colo.) returns against dangerous Ben Saunders (22-12, fighting out of Orlando, Fla.) in an exciting welterweight bout
Recent flyweight title challenger and No. 2 ranked contender Jessica Eye (14-7, fighting out of Cleveland, Oh.) takes on rising No. 6 Viviane Araujo (8-1, fighting out of Brasilia, Brazil)
In a clash of flyweight contenders, No. 6 ranked Brandon Moreno (14-5-1, fighting out of Tijuana, Mexico) faces No. 7 Kai Kara France (20-7-1, fighting out of Auckland, New Zealand)
Undefeated Dana White’s Contender Series signee Punahele Soriano (6-0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nev.) debuts against Oskar Piechota (11-2-1, fighting out of Gdynia, Poland)

The mega event which took place at the Ryogoku Kokugikan featured some of Japan’s top martial arts talents, alongside the biggest international superstars. Visit the official ONE: CENTURY ?? PART II photo gallery by clicking: https://bit.ly/onephotos In the main event of ONE: CENTURY ?? PART II, reigning ONE Light Heavyweight World Champion “The Burmese Python” Aung La N Sang of Myanmar retained his World Title with an incredible performance against ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon “The Truth” Vera of the Philippines. Aung La set the tempo in the first round, peppering Vera with leg kicks in an attempt to slow down the taller man. Against the fence, Vera would connect on a series of punches and elbows, which Aung La wore well. The second frame opened up with more action on the inside, as both men connected on huge combinations from close range. Vera and Aung La took each other’s best shots. A furious exchange of thunderous strikes against the fence ensued. Aung La landed a sharp spinning back elbow to rock Vera, sending the Filipino-American to the canvas. Aung La put on the finishing touches with ground-and-pound while Vera covered up. Japanese legend and former ONE Lightweight World Champion Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki made quick work of former ONE Featherweight World Champion Honorio “The Rock” Banario of the Philippines, winning by first-round submission in less than a minute. Banario tried his best to keep distance, but Aoki closed the gap almost immediately and fished for the bodylock takedown. Once they hit the mat, Aoki saw the opening and instantly latched onto a D’Arce choke to seal the deal and force the tap in just 54 seconds. Reigning ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes of Brazil ended his rivalry with former titleholder Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon of the Philippines, winning by second round submission. After a brief exchange on the feet, Fernandes immediately shot in for a successful takedown, landing in side control. The Brazilian controlled Belingon with his top game for the majority of the first round. The second round saw Belingon come out firing, but Fernandes was relentless in his pursuit of the takedown. As Belingon left Fernandes an opening, the champion swiftly capitalized to take his back. Moments later, Fernandes sunk in a deep rear naked choke to force the tap. Reigning ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon of Thailand outlasted game opponent Walter Goncalves of Brazil in a gruelling five-round contest. The first round saw both competitors moving forward with their most powerful combinations, neither man taking a step back. Action continued the same way in the second and third rounds, with the champion Rodtang pushing the pace as Goncalves countered off his back foot. The penultimate round was close, with Rodtang swinging wild haymakers from the center of the ONE Circle. Goncalves, however, showcased impressive head movement and evasion, slipping most of the champion’s power shots. In the final round, Rodtang continued to stalk Goncalves across the canvas, but the Brazilian was unwilling to engage. In the end, Rodtang walked away with a split decision victory to retain his title. Italian-Armenian kickboxing legend Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan punched and kicked his way to the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix Championship and a cool USD 1 million grand prize after edging out France’s Samy “AK47” Sana by unanimous decision. Petrosyan navigated Sana’s height and reach advantage to connect on crisp punch combinations throughout the three-round affair. In the end, Petrosyan put through a dominant performance to earn the nod on the judges’ scorecards and the biggest win in his ONE career. Indian heavyweight Arjan “Singh” Bhullar opened his ONE Championship career on a high note with a hard-fought unanimous decision win over former ONE World Title Challenger Mauro “The Hammer” Cerilli of Italy. A wrestler by discipline, Bhullar showed off a different facet of his game, picking apart Cerilli with pinpoint strikes while avoiding damage with impeccable head movement. Bhullar was one step ahead for all three rounds as he announced his arrival to the ONE heavyweight division with a convincing debut win. Japan’s Mei “V.V.” Yamaguchi strengthened her case as a top contender in the women’s atomweight division with a unanimous decision win over Chinese Taipei’s Jenny “Lady GoGo” Huang. Yamaguchi put her high-level grappling on full display as she was able to take Huang down with ease. Huang held her own thanks to her striking. But in the end, it wasn’t enough as Yamaguchi earned the decision victory to push her winning streak to three straight. Former ONE Strawweight World Champion and Shooto Strawweight World Champion Yosuke “The Ninja” Saruta evened things up between Shooto and Pancrase in impressive fashion, knocking out Pancrase Strawweight World Champion Daichi Kitakata in the second round. Saruta was dominant from the opening bell, controlling Kitakata in the grappling department. In the second round, Saruta made his way into Kitakata’s guard and from there landed a massive knockout punch to get the highlight-reel finish. Shooto Bantamweight World Champion Shoko Sato pulled one back for Team Shooto after defeating Pancrase Bantamweight World Champion Rafael “Morcego” Silva via technical knockout in the second round. Silva was relentless in his attempt to bring the action to the ground, but Sato was able to defend well. In the second round, Sato popped out of a takedown attempt and landed barrage of knees and punches to finish Silva off and score the first stoppage win of the night. In an intense showdown between welterweight competitors, Pancrase World Champion Hiroyuki “Last Samurai” Tetsuka and Shooto World Champion Hernani Perpetuo figured in a three-round war to the delight of the Ryogoku Kokugikan crowd. Although Perpetuo tried his best to match Tetsuka with every strike, the Japanese warrior proved much too powerful. After three rounds of solid action, it was Tetsuka who came out on top. Kicking off the action at ONE: CENTURY ?? PART II was Pancrase Lightweight World Champion Takasuke “Hawk” Kume who overcame a spirited effort from Shooto Lightweight World Champion Koshi “Luxor” Matsumoto to win by unanimous decision. It was a closely-contested bout through three rounds, with both men doing tremendous work in stand-up and grappling exchanges. In the end however, Kume did just enough to impress the judges and come away with the nod across the board. Official results for ONE: CENTURY ?? PART II |

PART I, reigning ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion “Unstoppable” Angela Lee of Singapore put together an awe-inspiring performance, defeating China’s “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan by submission to retain her title. The first round saw solid action transpire with both women having their moments. Xiong punished Lee with crisp boxing combinations but Lee took it well. Lee, on the other hand, landed a couple of solid right hands and looked constantly for the clinch. In the second frame, Lee continued to pursue the takedown, in an attempt to bring the action to the ground. She began to dominate with her high-level grappling in the third, as Xiong started to wilt under pressure. In the fourth round, Xiong battled back brilliantly behind her jab-straight combination. But Lee would not back down, firing combinations of her own. In the final round, Lee executed an explosive belly-to-back suplex to bring Xiong to the canvas. Moments later, Lee took the back and sunk in a rear naked choke to force the tap. In the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix Championship Final, Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson of the United States overcame a strong effort from the Philippines’ Danny “The King” Kingad to win by unanimous decision. In the first round, Johnson was relentless with his takedowns, showcasing his chain wrestling skills to constantly bring Kingad to the mat. Kingad tried his best to defend against Johnson’s advances, but Johnson slowly started to dominate. In the second, Johnson continued with his amazing work from top, attacking with various submissions from different control positions. In the third round, Johnson effortlessly outmuscled Kingad to cruise to the final bell. All three judges scored the bout in favor of Johnson, as the American captures the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix Championship. In a women’s Muay Thai contest, American Janet “JT” Todd authored a stunning finish of Ekaterina Vandaryeva of Belarus, delivering a thunderous head kick knockout in the second round. The first round saw Todd tagging Vandaryeva with lightning quick kicks behind her beautiful boxing. Vandaryeva tried to use her length to stay on the outside, but Todd was too fast and accurate. In the second round, Todd caught Vandaryeva with a high kick as the Belarussian athlete was backpedalling. Vandaryeva hit the canvas and the referee called a halt to the contest immediately. In the ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix Championship Final, reigning ONE Lightweight World Champion Christian “The Warrior” Lee of Singapore delivered a virtuoso performance, dominating Saygid Guseyn Arslanaliev of Turkey over three tough rounds. It was a close and competitive first round, with Arslanaliev attacking with powerful punch combinations. Lee, on the other hand, found success in taking his opponent down and scoring with ground-and-pound. In the second round, Lee capitalized on an exhausted Arslanaliev, piling on unrelenting punishment from top position. In the third round, Lee continued his dominance, pouncing on Arslanaliev, who could do little more than defend from the onslaught. In the end, all three judges scored the bout in favor of Lee, who took home the ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix Championship as the tournament winner. In a battle of two powerful strikers, Japan’s Yuya “Little Piranha” Wakamatsu was dominant in dismantling South Korea’s Dae Hwan “Ottogi” Kim over the course of three gruelling rounds. Wakamatsu constantly fired a stinging left jab, followed by punishing combinations at the center of the ONE Circle. Kim was game all throughout, but struggled to find his range. In the end, Wakamatsu proved too long and accurate for Kim, as he took home a unanimous decision victory. Former ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Sam-A Gaiyanghadao of Thailand scored a scintillating knockout victory over France’s Daren Rolland. A competitive back-and-forth first round saw both men have their moments with Sam-A sending Rolland to the canvas with a punch and the latter returning the favor. Sam-A, however, turned up the intensity in the second. After slipping Rolland’s jab, the Thai legend uncorked a short left hook on the inside that landed square on Rolland’s jaw. Rolland was out for the 10-count and Sam-A was awarded the finish. Japanese veteran Yushin “Thunder” Okami entered the win column for the first time in his ONE career after grinding out a split decision victory over Malaysian former ONE World Title Challenger Agilan “The Alligator” Thani. Okami was in control for the first two rounds of the match, using his superior grappling skills to ground Thani and threaten with submissions. Thani was more competitive in the final round, but it was too late as Okami earned the close points victory in his home country of Japan. Japanese women’s atomweight contender Itsuki “The Strong Heart Fighter” Hirata gave her fans in Tokyo a reason to cheer after defeating Thailand’s Rika “Tinydoll” Ishige via submission in the second round. Hirata was one step ahead of Ishige all match long as she outstruck and outgrappled the Thai athlete. In the second frame, Hirata continued to dominate as she opened with punches before taking Ishige down and locking in a deep armbar to earn the finish. ONE Warrior Series contract winner Lito “Thunder Kid” Adiwang of the Philippines put together an impressive showing in his ONE Championship main roster debut, scoring a first round technical knockout victory over former Pancrase champion Senzo Ikeda of Japan. Known for his striking, Adiwang showed off a different facet of his game as he scored an early takedown and immediately executed a scarf-hold armlock. The bout was stopped just moments later after Ikeda suffered an injury to his arm, giving the stoppage win to Adiwang. South Korea’s “Pretty Boy” Kwon Won Il kicked things off at ONE: CENTURY ?? in exciting fashion with a first round technical knockout over Indonesia’s “The Terminator” Sunoto. After a brief pause in action due to an accidental low blow, Kwon went on the offensive, putting Sunoto down with a punch and finishing him off with ground-and-pound for the stoppage victory. Photo: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1-HnDm5-xbphaFW0nWUYLR9IG-9yLVZ6g?usp=sharing Chatri Sityodtong, Chairman and CEO of ONE Championship, stated: “This is a historic moment, not only for Japan, but for the entire world of martial arts. I named this event, ONE: CENTURY, to signify the greatest martial arts event in the last 100 years. 28 World Champions from across various martial arts, seven World Title bouts, two full-scale events — it has never been done before in history. It gives me great pleasure to be with you here today. Our current estimate is that we will have 70 million viewers for ONE: CENTURY, making it the largest martial arts event in history. My fellow brothers and sisters are here, the greatest martial artists on the planet, but above all, truly amazing human beings. The world will witness greatness. Most importantly, the world will witness the unleashing of real life superheroes who ignite the world with hope, strength, dreams, and inspiration. Let us all embrace the true spirit, the warrior spirit of martial arts. Let’s show the world the power of martial arts.” Andy Hata, President of ONE Championship Japan, stated: “We’ve been through so much to get to this point. We are happy to give the Japanese people hope. Everyone knows how big of an event this is and we’re extremely excited to showcase Japan’s rich martial arts history and tradition. Our martial arts values will be on display here in Japan. We want to make this historic 100th event one with pride and honor. This will be the starting point of a new era of martial arts in Japan. We want as many Japanese people to know how great ONE Championship is, and we want to inspire more Japanese martial artists to come to the world’s biggest platform. We aim to create more opportunities for Japanese athletes to showcase their talent to the world.” Angela Lee, ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion, stated: “Hi everyone, it’s so great to be back here in Tokyo, Japan for the second time this year. I’m so excited for this upcoming match. This event is about celebrating ONE Championship’s 100 events. That’s huge. I joined ONE Championship in 2015, fresh out of high school. All of my professional fights have been with ONE and it has been quite a journey. ONE Championship, the entire team and staff, is just a pleasure to work with. They’ve seen me through the highs and the lows, and everything in between. I’ve grown so much not just as a fighter and as a World Champion, but also as a person. In many ways, ONE Championship has helped me to grow into the woman I am today. I am so grateful to be headlining this event. This match, I think everyone has been dying to see. It’s going to be a completely different fight from before. I’ve had an amazing training camp for this bout, and thank God no injuries. I pushed myself harder than ever. I’m fully confident in defending my belt and showing why I’m the champion in this division.” Xiong Jing Nan, ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion, stated: “I’m so happy to be back here in Tokyo. Six months ago, Angela [Lee] went down to my weight class and tried to get my belt. I kept what was rightfully mine. Now, it’s my turn to go down to her weight class for the belt. Just like half a year ago, I will win this match. But unlike last time, I won’t leave without two belts over my shoulders. There is nothing that can stop me this time. I have 1.4 billion people standing behind me.” Aung La N Sang, ONE Middleweight and Light Heavyweight World Champion, stated: “Thank you, Tokyo, for hosting ONE Championship’s 100th event. I love how noble and respectful the Japanese people are. It’s an honor for me to compete in front of the Japanese fans. I want to thank Brandon Vera for asking me for this fight. I’ve been a big fan of his since I was in college 10 years ago. I’ve been training for over six months now, and training has gone very well. I hope to put on the best performance of my life this Sunday. I’ve been with the company since ONE Championship 17. This organization upholds the true martial arts values. It has respect for its athletes. I’m so honored to be a part of this promotion. I promise you guys, ONE Championship is the future of martial arts.” Brandon Vera, ONE Heavyweight World Champion, stated: “I’m very excited to be here in Japan competing, and very excited to be on the path to fulfilling a lifelong dream of mine to become a titleholder in two divisions. I’m the ONE Heavyweight World Champion, which I will be until I retire. Now, I am chasing after the ONE Light Heavyweight World Title against a man who is cut from the same cloth. This bout means more to me than anything else in my career. It’s a dream come true to be with ONE Championship all throughout Asia. It’s a dream to compete and perform in front of all of you here in Japan. It’s time for me to fulfill my dreams and my destiny. Thank you ONE Championship, and Mr. Aung La for making this bout possible.” Bibiano Fernandes, ONE Bantamweight World Champion, stated: “I am always very happy to come back to Japan. I began my mixed martial arts career here in Japan. In 2009, I was the DREAM Bantamweight Champion. In 2011, I was the DREAM Featherweight Champion. I’m back and glad to see all of my friends here. I’m here with my longtime training partner Demetrious Johnson, who is fighting here again. I want to thank Chatri Sityodtong for the opportunity. ONE Championship is the Home of Martial Arts. ONE Championship cares about its athletes. I realized that at this moment, I want to be a part of ONE Championship forever in my life. I have prepared 1000% for this fight. I’m ready to give the best fight of the night. Thank you, Japan!” Kevin Belingon, former ONE Bantamweight World Champion, stated: “It’s an honor and a privilege for me to be a part of this historic event, ONE: CENTURY. Getting to compete here in Japan excites me because of the support of the Japanese fans. This is my fourth match with Bibiano Fernandes. I trained very hard for this one and I encourage everyone to watch my fight and don’t miss this historic event.” Rodtang Jitmuangnon, ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion, stated: “I am really excited to defend my ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Championship for the first time here, especially in front of such a huge crowd. My fight is going to be an exciting one. Thank you so much for all the support.” Walter Goncalves, ONE World Title Challenger, stated: “I am honored to be here and to fight for ONE Championship. I’m looking forward to Sunday night, where I will be fighting one of the best Thai fighters in the world. Thank you guys for coming out today and I appreciate you all.” Demetrious Johnson, ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix Championship Finalist, stated: “Thank you everyone for coming out tonight. I appreciate you guys, you’re an awesome crowd. I’m very excited to be back here in Japan. I’m looking forward to facing Danny Kingad. He’s a great competitor. I’m looking forward to competing against Team Lakay. I want to thank my team, Chatri [Sityodtong], for the opportunity. I would like to congratulate ONE Championship for 100 events. You guys are in for a treat. I’ve trained very hard for this fight. I know Danny Kingad is no joke and it’s going to be a sick fight.” Danny Kingad, ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix Championship Finalist, stated: “To the ONE Championship CEO and Chairman, Chatri [Sityodtong], to the media, to my fellow martial artists, and the millions of fans around the world, thank you. I’m happy to be back here again and competing in the most important match of my life. It is an honor to represent my country, the Philippines, and I am glad to be here with my Team Lakay family. I’m excited to showcase Filipino martial arts talent to the American audience. It’s a dream come true to share the ONE Circle with a legend in Demetrious Johnson. But I believe I have the chance to beat him. If I beat him, it will be the greatest accomplishment of my career.” Christian Lee, ONE Lightweight World Champion, stated: “I’m so excited to be here. This is going to be my first time fighting in Tokyo. It’s such an honor to be a part of ONE Championship’s 100th event. I’m here fighting alongside these World Champions, alongside my sister the champion. I’m excited to go out there and put on a show for you guys. It’s going to be an exciting fight.” Saygid Guseyn Arslanaliev, ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix Championship Finalist, stated: “I’m very happy to be here in Japan, in front of this crowd here in Tokyo. I’ve been dreaming about this moment all my life. I’ve had a very long and hard preparation for this training camp. I’ll do my best to show you my best performance.” Giorgio Petrosyan, ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix Championship Finalist, stated: “I’m so happy to be here now, after 10 years. I’m really pumped and excited to be performing in this show. I promise I will put the best fight of my career forward. In this magical place of Tokyo, for me it means so much to be here, fighting for ONE Championship, which I consider honestly to be the biggest promotion in the world. Getting the World Title and winning the tournament will be a great honor and a big pleasure.” Samy Sana, ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix Championship Finalist, stated: “Good evening Tokyo. JOSHUA PACIO TO DEFEND ONE STRAWWEIGHT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP AGAINST RENE CATALAN
| 7 October 2019 – Manila, Philippines: The largest global sports media property in Asian history, ONE Championship™ (ONE), has just announced its return to Manila, the bustling capital of the Philippines. This 8 November at the Mall of Asia Arena, ONE: MASTERS OF FATE will see the world’s best martial arts talent take the ONE Championship ring to showcase their skills. In the main event, reigning ONE Strawweight World Champion Joshua “The Passion” Pacio of the Philippines will defend his title against countryman Rene “The Challenger” Catalan.
More information on ONE: MASTERS OF FATE is available at www.onefc.com and tickets are on sale now at https://smtickets.com/events/view/8038. Save 15% if you purchase from now until 3 November. Terms & Conditions apply. Offer valid only on Categories 2-4. Team Lakay’s Pacio returns to action to defend his ONE Strawweight World Championship against fellow Filipino martial artist Catalan. The 23-year-old from Baguio City captured the strawweight belt with a unanimous decision victory over Japanese veteran Yoshitaka Naito in September of 2018, but surrendered the title to another Japanese warrior in former Shooto champion Yosuke Saruta in his first defense. Months later, Pacio avenged that defeat by knocking Saruta out with a head kick to regain ONE Championship gold. Now, Pacio is looking to make the first defense of his second strawweight title reign against Catalan. Catalan, on the other hand, is currently the hottest strawweight in the division who is riding an impressive six-bout win streak. The Philippine Wushu Champion and veteran martial artist stopped former champion Naito in the first round of his most recent outing, earning him a shot at the ONE Strawweight World Championship. Catalan now faces Pacio in a highly-anticipated all-Filipino showdown for the strawweight throne. Former two-time ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang of the Philippines is on the comeback trail. He is scheduled to face MGL-1 FC Lightweight Champion Amarsanaa “Spear” Tsogookhuu of Mongolia in the evening’s co-main event. The veteran member of Team Lakay will have to deal with Tsogookhuu’s uncharted power, as the Mongolian boasts of a solid knockout ratio featuring three stoppages out of five victories. In a ONE Super Series Muay Thai bantamweight contest in 4-ounce gloves, Sangmanee “The Million Dollar Baby” Sathian MuayThai of Bangkok, Thailand takes on Azize “The Magician” Hlali of France. Despite being just 22 years old, Sangmanee has already achieved multiple honors in the sport including seven Muay Thai World Championships. He is a well-respected competitor in his home country and has defeated some of Muay Thai’s biggest names. Hlali, who trains out of Venum Training Camp, is a two-time Muay Thai World Champion. Former ONE Flyweight World Champion Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio of the Philippines and CWFC Bantamweight World Champion Toni “Dynamite” Tauru of Finland will run it back in a highly-anticipated rematch. In their first encounter back in 2016, Tauru submitted Eustaquio via first round rear-naked choke. Since then, Eustaquio has gone on to capture the flyweight belt twice. Now he faces Tauru once again this time at flyweight. ONE Atomweight Kickboxing and Muay Thai World Champion Stamp Fairtex of Thailand continues her quest for a mixed martial arts world title when she faces top women’s atomweight Bi “Killer Bee” Nguyen of Vietnam and the United States. The 21-year-old Stamp recently impressed in her return to the Circle, defeating Asha Roka by third round submission. Nguyen, meanwhile, was victorious against Puja Tomar in a Muay Thai contest. WBC and IPCC Muay Thai World Champion Alma Juniku of Australia is back in ONE Super Series action when she takes on Anne Line Hogstad of Norway in a Muay Thai atomweight contest in 4-ounce gloves. Juniku made her ONE Championship debut against none other than two-sport World Champion Stamp Fairtex last June. She is now tasked to welcome ISKA Muay Thai World Champion and promotional newcomer Hogstad to the world’s largest martial arts organization. Former ONE Strawweight World Champion Yoshitaka “Nobita” Naito of Japan makes his much-awaited return to the ONE Championship ring when he goes head-to-head with Thailand’s Pongsiri “The Smiling Assassin” Mitsatit. Naito is on the comeback trail, having defeated fellow former ONE World Champion Alex Silva in his last outing. Mitsatit is one of the fastest rising martial arts talents from Thailand with an impressive 10-3 record. He is also a Northern Muay Thai Champion of Thailand with a 72-17 record. Top King Muay Thai World Champion and former ONE World Title Contender Han Zi Hao of China will face one of his toughest opponents to date when he squares off with Thai veteran Kongsak “Left Savage” PK.Saenchaimuaythaigym. Han famously challenged reigning ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-O Gaiyanghadao back in February. Kongsak, in contrast, is a three-time Lumpinee Stadium Muay Thai World Champion and is coming off a close split decision win over Alaverdi Ramazanov. The two warriors will compete in a ONE Super Series Muay Thai bantamweight contest in 4-ounce gloves. Making his ONE Championship debut is South Korean featherweight talent Jae Woong “The Fighting God” Kim who steps into the ONE Championship ring for the first time against top featherweight Emilio “The Honey Badger” Urrutia of the United States. Kim is a TFC Featherweight Champion and Korea Boxing Champion who is riding a two-bout win streak. Urrutia, in contrast, is a SFC Bantamweight Champion who trains out of Tiger Muay Thai in Thailand. In a battle between Muay Thai greats, Thailand’s Tukkatatong Petpayathai faces former ONE World Title Challenger Hiroaki “Kaibutsukun” Suzuki of Japan. The two-time Muay Thai World Champion representative of Evolve MMA owns a kickboxing record of 242-33-2. Suzuki, who challenged Tukkatatong’s teammate Nong-O Gaiyanghadao for the ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Championship last May, is a Shoot Boxing Lightweight World Champion with a professional kickboxing record of 41-12-1, 1NC. Last but not least, top South Korean flyweight Kim Kyu Sung will make his second appearance in ONE Championship opposite ONE Warrior Series Contract Winner Akihiro “Superjap” Fujisawa of Japan, while Indian Wrestling Champion Roshan “The Indian Notorious” Mainam takes on KWC 1 Flyweight Tournament Champion Khon Sichan of Cambodia. Additional bouts for ONE: MASTERS OF FATE will be announced at a later date. For more updates on ONE Championship, please visit www.onefc.com, follow us on Twitter and Instagram @ONEChampionship, and like us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/ONEChampionship. |

Demetrious Johnson, 12-time Flyweight Mixed Martial Arts World Champion, stated: “It’s such an honor and a privilege to be able to return to Japan where I made my ONE Championship debut last March. The experience was absolutely amazing. I feel very fortunate to be here once again, this time competing in the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix Championship Final. I’m sure the fans are excited for all the festivities. The atmosphere at the ONE Martial Arts Fan Fest is buzzing, and it perfectly sets the stage for the huge event coming up next week.”
Brandon Vera, ONE Heavyweight World Champion, stated: “In my entire career, I’ve dreamed of becoming a two-division World Champion and competing in Japan. Next week, I have the chance to fulfill both of those dreams. This is such a huge fight for me, the biggest in my career so far. Taking on Mr. Aung La for the ONE Light Heavyweight World Championship is an honor. I’ve trained very hard for this fight and I’m ready. It’s going to be an action-packed bout between two come-forward warriors.”
Aung La N Sang, ONE Light Heavyweight and Middleweight World Champion, stated: “The last time I was here in Tokyo, it was a memorable evening for me. I faced a Japanese warrior named Ken Hasegawa, whom I respect and hold in very high regard. Now, I will face an even greater challenge in veteran Brandon Vera. Without a doubt, Brandon will be my toughest opponent to date. But I believe in my coaches, I believe in my preparations. We’ve left no stone unturned and we’re ready to take care of business next Sunday night.”
Angela Lee, ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion, stated: “I’ve taken a step back and collected myself after two tough bouts. They’ve taught me lessons and helped me realize a lot of things about myself as a fighter. With the help of my family, my Dad, and my team, I’ve worked extremely hard in improving my game. I feel now that we have the winning formula. Xiong Jing Nan is a worthy champion, but she’s coming into the atomweight division where I am strongest. Make no mistake about it, I’m looking to end matters dramatically within the distance and successfully retain my ONE Women’s Atomweight World Championship.”
Christian Lee, ONE Lightweight World Champion, stated: “I train year-round to stay ready for any opportunity. I’m more than happy to step up and fight Saygid Guseyn Arslanaliev at ONE: CENTURY. Entering the ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix Championship Final, and getting to perform with my sister Angela at this historic event in Japan, it’s going to be an awesome experience. I know my opponent is strong and dangerous, but so am I. I think our styles match up very well. I can’t wait to showcase my skills for the fans in Tokyo. It’s going to be an electric, action-packed bout and I am definitely looking to finish and shock the world.”
Xiong Jing Nan, ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion, stated: “This is the biggest bout of my career. I was able to hold the fort down at strawweight, but now it’s time to lay siege onto the atomweight world title. Angela is my toughest opponent to date. She is a great champion. To be able to compete against her is an honor. But I am coming for that belt. At the end of the night, I fully expect to have my hands raised in victory and to return home to China a two-division ONE World Champion.”
Kevin Belingon, former ONE Bantamweight World Champion, stated: “I’m very excited for this fight. This is my fourth match with Bibiano [Fernandes]. I think this fight will determine who is the true king at bantamweight. I’ll do my best to emerge the winner of this fight. I’m looking to end my business with Bibiano in stunning fashion. I’m super motivated to get the win here in Japan and bring the title back to the Philippines.”
Bibiano Fernandes, ONE Bantamweight World Champion, stated: “I prepared myself very hard for this fight. I’m ready to compete this Sunday, October 13th in Tokyo, Japan. I’m very excited to face Kevin [Belingon] one more time. The last time we fought, it ended controversially. Now, we get the chance to do it again and this time, there will be no doubt. I look to successfully defend my ONE Bantamweight World Champion. I’m ready to show the fans in Tokyo a very good performance.”

ZEBAZTIAN KADESTAM TO DEFEND THE ONE WELTERWEIGHT WORLD TITLE AGAINST KIAMRIAN ABBASOV AT ONE: DAWN OF VALOR
| 12 September 2019 – Jakarta, Indonesia: The largest global sports media property in Asian history, ONE Championship™ (ONE), has just announced its return to Jakarta, Indonesia with ONE: DAWN OF VALOR. Set to take place at the Istora Senayan on Friday, 25 October, ONE: DAWN OF VALOR features the absolute best in world-class martial arts talent.
In the main event, ONE Welterweight World Champion Zebaztian “The Bandit” Kadestam of Sweden defends his title against Kiamrian Abbasov of Kyrgyzstan. Also, in the co-main event, ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Champion Regian “The Immortal” Eersel of The Netherlands defends his title against countryman Nieky “The Natural” Holzken in a highly-anticipated rematch. Ticket information for ONE: DAWN OF VALOR is available at www.onefc.com. Tickets, priced from IDR 75,000, are on sale now at https://one.cognitix.id/. From now through 22 September, save 20% on tickets using the promo code ‘ONELOYALTY.’ Kadestam started training in Muay Thai when he was 12 years old, and later embarked on a highly successful professional career in the sport. Soon, he explored other disciplines, as he trained at Pancrase Gym in Stockholm, and also traveled to Thailand and the Philippines to sharpen his skills under famed martial artist Ole Laursen. “The Bandit” joined ONE Championship in May 2017, claimed the ONE Welterweight World Championship in November 2018 in Jakarta, and successfully defended the title for the first time this past March. Now Kadestam returns to the same venue where he won the gold for his second defense. Abbasov, a Prime Selection GP Welterweight Champion, was raised by a single mother in his hometown of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan’s capital city. There, he began his martial arts journey with Greco-Roman wrestling, and later added boxing to his arsenal. Early in his career, he won two tournament championships, including a tournament in December 2016 where he beat three different men in one night. Today, he is one of Kyrgyzstan’s top mixed martial artists. In his most recent outing, Abbasov spoiled Yushin Okami’s promotional debut, defeating his decorated Japanese opponent by technical knockout. In Jakarta, he will challenge Kadestam for the ONE Welterweight World Championship. In the co-main event of the evening, Eersel will defend the ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Championship against Holzken in a rematch between Dutch kickboxing superstars. Eersel represents the famed Sityodtong Amsterdam Muay Thai camp. He has made a name for himself as a Lion Fight Super Middleweight World Champion and an MFC Kickboxing World Champion. He initially began his martial arts journey by training in taekwondo at the age of eight. After experiencing success in taekwondo competition as well as amateur kickboxing, Eersel decided to turn professional, and has since put together an incredible record of success. Last May, “The Immortal” reached the pinnacle of the sport when he defeated Holzken via unanimous decision to capture the inaugural ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Title. Now he looks to defend it successfully for the first time against “The Natural” in a rematch. Holzken is a multiple-time kickboxing World Champion who started boxing at the age of 10. Later, he expanded on his skills by adding kickboxing and Muay Thai to his repertoire. He competed extensively in all three disciplines, compiling over 100 combined wins on his way to Dutch and European championships, as well as several World Titles. A sensational striker, Holzken’s entertaining style has already seen him secure nearly 50 knockouts in kickboxing and an additional 11 in the boxing ring. When he challenges Eersel in Jakarta, he will attempt to add one more World Title to his already dazzling resume. Making his highly-anticipated ONE Championship debut is Brazil’s John “Hands Of Stone” Lineker. He faces top bantamweight contender Muin Gafurov of Tajikistan. Lineker is a mixed martial arts veteran with over a decade of experience competing in some of the world’s top promotions. The Brazilian is a former Jungle Fight Bantamweight Champion known for his unbridled power, relentless aggression, and toughness. He currently holds a professional record of 31-9, which includes 14 knockouts and four submissions. Always looking to end bouts early, the Brazilian brings his unique all-action style to ONE Championship’s bantamweight division. Gafurov, who owns a stellar 16-2 professional record, is one of the top talents to come out of Tajikistan. He utilizes a frenetic pace that opponents find difficult to match, and he possesses high-level grappling techniques, powerful striking, and an aggressive style. Gafurov is riding a five-bout win streak, and he will look to push that streak to six when he welcomes Lineker to The Home Of Martial Arts. Also making his ONE Championship debut is lightweight Johnny Nunez of the United States, who is scheduled to face Kazuki Tokudome of Japan. Nunez is coming off two stellar victories, which have pushed his professional record to an impressive 7-1 overall. Out of seven victories, he owns two by knockout and one by submission. The 34-year-old now makes his way to the bright lights of ONE Championship to face the world’s best talent on the global stage for martial arts. Tokudome, on the other hand, is a former Pancrase Lightweight World Champion who trains out of Paraestra Hachioji in his native Japan. In his most recent bout, Tokudome defeated Australian veteran Adrian Pang by technical knockout in the second round. Now the Japanese martial artist is tasked to welcome Nunez to the ONE Championship lightweight division. Also on the card is Mongolia’s Amarsanaa Tsogookhuu, who faces undefeated Australian prospect Antonio “The Spartan” Caruso. Also, New Zealand’s Mark “Tyson” Fairtex Abelardo takes on China’s Ayideng “The Kazakh Eagle” Jumayi. Indonesian martial artists will also be well-represented at ONE: DAWN OF VALOR with the country’s biggest stars scheduled for action. Multiple-time Indonesian national wrestling champion Eko Roni Saputra is set to make his return to the ONE Championship stage. He will square off against the Philippines’ Kaji “Alpha” Ebin. Top Indonesian women’s mixed martial arts star Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol goes for two straight as she faces Myanmar’s Bozhena Antoniyar. Also, in a series of all-Indonesian showdowns, Rudy “The Golden Boy” Agustian goes head-to-head with Abro Fernandes, Egi Rozten locks horns with Elipitua Siregar, and Adi Paryanto collides with Angelo “The Unicorn King” Bimoadji. Finally, in what is sure to be a crowd favorite match-up between a pair of exciting finishers, top Indonesian strawweights Adrian “Papua Badboy” Mattheis and Stefer “The Lion” Rahardian meet in a three-round clash. Additional bouts at ONE: DAWN OF VALOR will be announced at a later date. For more updates on ONE Championship, please visit www.onefc.com, follow us on Twitter and Instagram @ONEChampionship, and like us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/ONEChampionship. |
