Sterling Ford to meet James Marohl at CageSport XX!

Tacoma, WA (June 18, 2012) – Welterweight star Sterling Ford will look to continue his recent streak of success when he challenges James Marohl Saturday, July 14 in the main event of “Cagesport XX” at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, WA.

The card is promoted by Halquist Productions and tickets starting at $35 can be purchased on ticketmaster.com or at the Emerald Queen box office.

Hailing from nearby Spokane, WA, Ford has an impressive record of 14-5 with 8 wins by stoppage. The Strikeforce veteran won seven of his last eight bouts, including an impressive unanimous decision victory over Brian McLaughlin at “Strikeforce 17” in July 2011.

Marohl’s rolled through his last four opponents, stopping three of them in two minutes or less. With a professional record of 6-1, the Longview, WA resident is a renowned submission specialist who promoter Brian Halquist gives a ton of credit to for his willingness to take tough fights.

“I tip my hat to Marohl” said the Washington-based MMA and boxing promoter. “Sterling’s fought at an extremely high level and is a top-tier talent. Most fighters want to take their time before moving up the ranks like this, but Marohl is confident that this is the perfect opportunity for him.”

The Ford-Marohl bout is scheduled for three rounds.

Female stars “Slick” Sally Krumdiak of Bellingham, WA and “Little” Patricia Vidonic, a Medford, OR native, battle for supremacy in the three round strawweight co-feature. Both Krumdiak, 9-5, and Vidonic, 5-3, fought at the sport’s highest level. The victor will likely receive a title shot in the near future.

“The co-feature is undoubtedly a main event type of fight,” stated Halquist. “I’m extremely excited for this match-up because Krumdiak and Vidonic are two of the world’s best.”

Tacoma’s very own Meisha Tate, a former world champion, Female Fighter of the Year and CageSport veteran, will be in attendance. Tate, 12-3, is available for a meet and greet, photo ops and autographs throughout the evening for all ticketholders.

A full undercard will be announced shortly and more information is available on Halquistproudctions.com.

– Friday, June 15, 2012 7:30pm ET featuring Cage Wars 16 from the Harrah’s Casino in Chester Pennsylvania. In the main event, Hector Pacheco (1-3) battles Epifano Diaz (1-2) in a lightweight showdown. Pacheco is coming off an impressive win at “Cage Wars 12” via heel hook in round one. Pacheco is a tough draw for any upcoming fighter as he has the cardio to go three full rounds and has only been stopped once. Pacheco is also ready, willing and able to stand in the middle of the cage and trade punches with any 155 lb fighter. Diaz is coming off a tough decision loss at Ring of Combat earlier this year and looks to get back on the right track with a victory over Pacheco. Never stopped in a fight, Diaz has always showed the heart of a lion and his fight with Pacheco should be a barnburner as neither man knows the meaning of retreat. In the co-main event, Juan Vazquez (1-2) takes on Nathan Van Tassel (0-2) in a welterweight tilt. Vazquez is a New Jersey native and this will be his debut with “Cage Wars”. Vazquez utilizes a high risk-high reward fighting style that has made him a crowd favorite in the East Coast. He will look to try and get Van Tassel in a brawl and end the fight with a spectacular finish. Van Tassel is looking for his first victory as a professional and also likes to bang. He has suffered both of his losses via submission so the fans might be in for a real rock ’em sock ’em fight as both of these warriors like to throw leather.

– Friday, June 15, 2012 8:30pm ET featuring Ring of Combat XLI at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The main event, Uriah Hall (6-2) fights Nodar Kudukhashvili (0-0) for the vacant ROC Middleweight Championship. Hall comes into the bout on a 2-fight win streak, both by stoppages, one via KO and one via submission. In fact, all 6 wins by Hall have come via stoppage making Hall one of the most exciting fighters on the East Coast circuit. The native of the country Georgia, Kudukhashvili, comes into the fight a relative unknown, although he has had fights in Eastern Europe they are not officially recorded in MMA databases. Kudukhashvili is a sambo expert and loves to grapple to if he can get the fight to the ground he will look to finish Hall on the mat. In the co-main event, James Jenkins (5-0) battles Guillermo “Will” Serment (3-3) for the ROC Featherweight Title. The undefeated Jenkins has fought his whole career inside the ROC cage and now he goes for gold. With only 1 decision to his credit, Jenkins is a fighter that likes to push the pace and create his own openings and look for the finish. Serment is on a 2-fight win streak himself, and the Illinois native comes to New Jersey to take make it number 3 against Jenkins. Serment likes to grind his opponents out winning by decision so this matchup will be a contrast in styles with Jenkins looking for a way to stop Serment and Serment looking to wear Jenkins down. In other title fights, Ed Gordon (4-0) fights Carlos Brooks (4-1) for the ROC Light Heavyweight Title. Gordon has been on a tear in his early career winning all 4 of his fights. Gordon is heavy handed and packs dynamite in both hands. Brooks is coming off a spectacular first round KO himself and this bout has the makings to be fight of the night, because these two 205 lb fighters are going to be throwing everything but the kitchen sink at each other. And Jimmie Rivers (8-1) takes on Justin Hickey (6-2) for the ROC Bantamweight Championship. Rivera holds a championship with another organization already, and looks to add to his collection with this fight. The Bellator and TUF vet has faced a who’s who of the East Coast’s best and will look to utilize his strong wrestling base to nullify any of Hickey’s offense. Hickey has won 6 of his last 7 bouts and this will be his first time going for a title. He also has a strong ground game and will look to win the scrambles and land points on the feet. If Hickey wins this bout, he will draw a lot of attention to himself as beating Rivers is no easy task.

– Friday, June 15, 2012 7:30pm ET featuring School of Hard Knocks 25 – Medicine Hat at the Cypress Centre Auditorium, Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. In the main event, Dia Grant (5-6) from Dynamic MMA in Calgary, Alberta takes on Roy Bradshaw (8-9) from Sik Jitsu in Inchelium, Washington. Grant is coming off an impressive victory at HKFC 23 where he defeated his opponent via RNC in round two. In fact, Grant has won 3 of his last 4, all by stoppage, and looks to give Bradshaw the same fate. A well rounded grappler and striker Grant can finish fights on his feet or on the mat and with the quick turnaround (his last bout being last month), Grant has been working nonstop on his MMA game. For Bradshaw, the Pacific Northwest vet has been a pro since 2009 and never turned down a challenge yet. He comes into the bout with Grant on a 2-fight win streak himself and looks to make it number 3 against one of HKFC most decorated fighters in Grant. Both of these fighters are looking to break out from the pack and the winner of this bout will do so. In co-main event, Charmaine Tweet (1-2) from Chi-Ki Training in Regina, SK takes on Chicago native Adrienne Seiber (1-2) from Academy of Self Defense in a featherweight scrap. Tweet is a kickboxing standout who likes to bang when she steps into the cage. Tweet is also proficient on the ground picking up a win in her last bout via guillotine choke. For Seiber, who is a Bellator veteran, she has proven to be a tough matchup with anyone as she has never been stopped in a fight and has heavy hands herself winning by TKO. This bout has all of the makings for fight of the night as the winner will improve her record to .500 so look for both women to be throwing punches with bad intentions.

– Friday, June 1, 2012 7:30pm ET featuring Xtreme Fight Events Cage Wars 15 at Harrah’s Casino in Chester Pennsylvania. “Cage Wars” has quickly solidified itself in Pennsylvania as a top-tier MMA event, and the fighters on June 1 will be ready to throw down in the cage. In the main event, Dan Cion (3-1) battles Casey Milliken (3-3) for the vacant Cage Wars Lightweight Title. Cion is a CFFC vet and battle-tested as he has fought a top caliber of East Coast MMAers. Traveling from New York, Cion is looking to grind Milliken down and break his will during the fight. Milliken is also a CFFC vet and has traveled as far as Arizona to ply his trade. Milliken is coming off a spectacular win at “Cage Wars 13” and looks to build on that success as he will look to try and submit Cion if it goes to the mat. In the co-main event, Ryan Cafaro (3-3) defends his Cage Wars title as he takes on Matthew Ibbotson (3-4). Cafaro is coming off a hard earned decision victory that where he won the title back in March. Cafaro likes to go to the ground and exhibits a high risk-high reward fighting style that is always a crowd pleaser. For the challenger Ibbotson, he is riding a 2-fight win streak and looks to make the most of his opportunity by winning his first title. Ibbotson also is strong on the ground so this could be a matchup of grapplers or the ground fighting could be nullified and it could be a slugfest. The third title fight of the evening will be for the Flyweight Championship as former challenger Andrew Aguilar (4-2) battles Brian Gil (3-1) for the vacant 125 lb title. Aguilar likes to break his opponents will inside the cage and win by decision while Gil has wins by KO and submission. This clash of styles always makes for interesting fights and the fact that this is for a Flyweight Championship means this should be fight of the night as that division has the wildest fights.

– Friday, June 1, 2012 8:00pm ET featuring Combat at the Capitale, at the Capitale, New York, NY. Lou Neglia and Ray Longo present World Championship Kickboxing with presenting 12-bout Muay Thai card is anchored by several title fights that are sure to make new stars in the sport and cement legacies. In the main event, Brandon Mickens will take on Julio Arce for the World Championship. Other matches will include: Nicko Tsigaras vs Felipe Carlos, Laurel Holloway vs Andrea Deangelo and Alex Melts vs Stephen Regman plus more.

– Saturday, June 2, 2012 9:00pm ET featuring North American Allied Fight Series (NAAFS) Fight Night in the Flats VIII at the Jacobs Pavilion in Nautica in Cleveland, Ohio. In the main event, Kyle Baker (11-3) fights Chris Lozano (9-3) for Baker’s NAAFS Pro Series Welterweight Championship. For Baker, this is his first title defense and it comes against his toughest opponent to date as Lozano is a Bellator veteran and also a former NAAFS Champion. Baker holds a win over UFC vet Drew Fickett and a win over Lozano would add to his credentials even more and make people around the country take notice of the budding star. Lozano is looking to regroup back in his old stomping grounds and a victory over Baker would get him moving in the right direction and would also see him reclaim NAAFS gold. Lozano packs a heavy punch and will be looking to land it with bad intentions so this main event should be action packed from the get go. In the co-main event, Frank Caraballo (9-4) defends his NAAFS Pro Series Featherweight Championship against Antonio Castillo Jr. (4-3). Caraballo is on a 4-fight win streak including the last two with Bellator and looks to keep his momentum going as he defends his belt against a gritty challenger in Castillo Jr. Caraballo is a fan favorite because of his aggressive fighting style which usually ends with him winning by knockout or submission. Fans will be in for a treat as the challenger Castillo Jr. loves to grind out his opponents and take their will to fight away, so this bout will be a contrast in styles which means anything is possible. This bout will be a barnburner as the 145 lb weight division is one of the most exciting in all of MMA and if Castillo Jr. can pull off the upset not only will he be the new champion, but he will turn a lot of heads in the MMA industry. But Caraballo will do his best to shut down Castillo Jr. right from the beginning.

– Friday, May 25, 2012 9:00pm ET featuring School of Hard Knocks 23 Calgary at the Subway Soccer Center, Calgary, Canada. In the main event, Paapa Inkumsah (4-4) of Gracie Barra in Calgary, Alberta fights Jarod Milko (4-1) from Progressive Fighting Academy out of Lethbridge, Alberta in a welterweight pro fight. Inkumsah has 3 victories by submission and has only gone to a decision twice, so his fights are usually action filled bouts where someone is getting submitted or knocked out as Inkumsah uses a high risk-high reward fighting style. Milko has never gone to a decision and holds a title with another organization so his big fight experience will come in handy as he main events “HKFC 23” against Inkumsah. Milko also has 3 wins via submission so this could turn into a grappling chess match, or they fighters could decide to handle their business on their feet, not wanting to risk being submitted by another proficient grappler. In the co-main event, Dia Grant (3-6) from Dynamic MMA in Calgary, Alberta faces Julius Huhs (2-0) from AJJA Canada in Kamloops, BC in a lightweight pro fight. Grant is coming off a first round submission win and looks to add to his momentum against the upstart Huhs. Grant will bring a vast experience edge into the cage as well as a “fight anyone” mentality. Grant will be ready for whatever the newcomer Huhs throws at him. For the undefeated Huhs, this is a great test for him in his early pro career as he has never even fought in the second round with both of his victories coming in the first. Grant will be Huhs’ toughest test to date and a good measuring stick for the 155 lb fighter. If Huhs walks through Grant then he might be in line for a title shot with HKFC.

– Saturday, May 26, 2012 7:00pm ET featuring Dead Serious Four at the Rahway Rec Center in Rahway, New Jersey. In the main event, it is a rematch from a fight at “Dead Serious Three” as undefeated Shane Burgos (4-0-0-1) battles RJ Starace (3-4-0-1) in a featherweight showdown. Their first meeting ended in a no contest after Starace was unable to continue after an accidental foul in round one. It was a disappointing ending to what otherwise started out as a barnburner. The foul occurred when Burgos and Starace where doing some clinch work and working for position and Burgos landed a knee that was low on Starace. Starace was in immediate pain and unable to re-start the fight. In the past, Burgos has shown that he has the cardio conditioning to win a fight on decision, and he also has a deadly submission game to go along with strong stamina. Starace has fought for the Dead Serious Featherweight Title previously, suffering a tough loss in round three. He will look back to get on his winning ways and set the story straight in this rematch with Burgos. The winner of this bout will be at the front of the line for a future 145 lb title shot with Dead Serious, so there is a lot riding on this defacto #1 Contender match. In other action, Jimmy Starr (0-2) fights Guido Valdner (0-0) in a featherweight tussle. Both fighters are looking for their first wins in the sport and this bout will be a great litmus test for both athletes. Starr has already fought twice so he will have the experience advantage, but Valdner is an unknown so it will be hard to game plan for his strengths so he has an advantage in the styles matchup as he will know a little bit more about what Starr’s strengths are while Starr will have to plan for everything against Valdner. This bout should be a barnburner as one of these 145 lb fighters will get their first victory of their career.

– Saturday, May 26, 2012 8:00pm ET featuring Ultimate Warrior Fighting (UWF) “Tournament of Champions” at the Laredo Energy Arena. The event will feature the final four of both the 155 lb and 170 lb tournaments where the eventual winners will win $25,000. Tune into this 9-bout card and watch Texas’ best MMA fighters as they go for gold and honor. In the 170 lb tournament, Lucas Pimenta (6-0) battles Chuck Parmelee (38-11-1) and John Malbrough (3-3) fights Justin Guthrie (15-4). Parmelee looks to be the favorite to win the whole thing as he is very experienced and battle tested. He squares off against Pimenta who is undefeated and coming off a quick victory earlier this month in the first round of the tournament. That could be a huge factor as there is a quick turnaround for this event, with the fighters in the tournaments fighting twice in one month. For Pimenta, he will have to attack Parmelee right from the get-go and test his endurance as Parmelee won his fight via decision after a grueling three round contest. In the other side of the bracket, Malbrough got a well-earned submission victory in his first bout while the more experienced Guthrie went the distance and won via decision. Guthrie holds titles with other federations already so he is used to being in a championship atmosphere. It will be interesting to see if either fighter has any nagging injuries from their first round battles. Look for Guthrie to try and grind Malbrough down, while Malbrough goes for the homerun KO or a devastating submission. In the 155 lb tournament, Rey Trujillo (11-7) fights Gilbert Jimenez (6-5-1) and Christ Quitquit (4-0) takes on Flavio Alvaro (23-7). Trujillo got his first win earlier in the month via decision while Jimenez won via choke in round three. Trujillo is a heavy puncher while Jimenez attacks from all angles. If Trujillo can land early it could be a quick night, but if Jimenez can get the bout to the ground, it could be to his advantage. In the other half of the bracket, the undefeated Quitquit is coming off a spectacular first round submission and came out of his first tourney fight relatively unscathed. He will need to be 100% as Alvaro is a replacement and did not fight in round one and also holds a distinct experience advantage over Quitquit. Alvaro is also on a 4-fight win streak and looks to continue his dominance inside of the cage and with UWF.

– Saturday, May 26, 2012 8:00pm ET featuring Absolute Action MMA XXVI from Florence, Kentucky. In the main event, Phillip Perkins (2-1) fights Donnie Ballou (5-3) for the AAMMA Flyweight Title. Both of these 125 lb fighters have a lot at stake as the winner will be the first ever AAMMA Flyweight Champion. Perkins fights a high risk-high reward style as he has never been out of the first round, winning two of his fights via stoppage (TKO and triangle submission). Perkins is like a Tasmanian Devil in the cage and always looks to apply pressure to his opponent from the opening bell. Ballou is the more experienced fighter, and is also a verteran of Absolute Action MMA. He won his last fight via submission in round one and carries heavy hands into the cage as 3 of his wins have come via KO or TKO. Ballou can make quick work out of opponents when he lands his punches flush. This bout has all the makings of fight of the night as Perkins and Ballou will stop at nothing to win the first ever Flyweight Championship in AAMMA. In the co-main event, Robert Cooper (3-0) battles James Benton (4-3) for the vacant AAMMA Light Heavyweight Championship. The undefeated Cooper has been on a tear getting finishes in all of his fights. Benton will prove to be Cooper’s toughest test to date as he is battle-tested and has never backed down especially during his 4-fight winning streak midway through his career. The leather will be flying as these two gladiators do for gold in this 205 lb championship match.

– Friday, May 18, 2012 4:00am ET featuring Cage Fighting Championship 21 at the Homebush State Sports Centre in Sydney, Australia. Jesse Juarez (17-8) who is a former Bellator fighter based out of California claimed the CFC world title with a majority decision win against Justin Murray at CFC 13 in April 2010. Juarez’s first title defense was an unanimous decision win against Manuel Rodriguez at CFC 18 and he has gone 1-1 on US promotions since defending his title and will look to defend it for a second time against Robert Whittaker. 21 year old, Whittaker (9-1) who fights out of the PMA Super Martial Arts Centre in NSW, has built an impressive domestic record in Australia and is yet to go to the judges’ scorecards in any of his fights. His most recent outing was at Superfight Australia 13 in Perth where he defeated Shaun Spooner with a first round stoppage. The main support bouts will also bring none stop action with two Australia vs USA heavyweight fights set. In the first heavyweight showdown, “Big” Jim Yorke takes on Jeff “The Snowman” Monson. Yorke is on a four fight win streak which was kicked off by his win on CFC 14 against American, Brandon Cash. He is also a Sengoku veteran so has some deep international experience behind him. Monson is a two time ADCC World Champion, has fought in the UFC, Strikeforce and M-1 and with 57 professional fights under his belt, will be Big Jim’s biggest opponent to date. In the second heavyweight showdown, Soa “The Hulk” Palelei, will take on the infamous, 2005 K1 Grand Prix Champion in Bob “The Beast” Sapp. Palelei who stands at a huge 6’4 inches tall, will take on the even bigger frame of the 6’5″ Bob Sapp who also walks around much heavier than The Hulk. In Sapp’s most recent fight at SFL 1 in Mumbai, India, the American tapped in round 1 after suffering a suspect injury.

– Friday, May 18, 2012 11:00pm ET featuring Ultimate Reno Combat 33 at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada. In the main event, Brad Robasciotti (3-1) fights Brandon Costa (4-1) for the URC Light Heavyweight Title. The fans demanded it and now they have it. This is an immediate rematch as Robasciotti was victorious in the last bout defeating Costa via TKO in round 4 and winning the title from him. With such a quick turnaround both fighters will not have much time to change their games up so expect this bout to be another wall to wall war. The first fight was back and forth with Robasciotti ultimately getting his hand raised at the end, but many feel the fight was stopped too early, hence the rematch. Both fighters will be looking to make a definitive statement in this bout, so don’t blink. The co-main event, Randall Wallace (2-0) battles Anthony Hernandez (4-0) for the URC Middleweight Championship. This is for the vacant 185 lb title and both fighters come into the bout undefeated. Someone is walking away with gold, while the other is walking away with the first loss of his career. For Wallace, he is a heavy puncher who has finished both of his fights in the first round. He will look to connect with one of his bombs early and make it a quick night. Hernandez is a fighter that can end things with his hands, but also has the stamina to go the distance and outwork his opponent for a decision. Since it’s a 5 round fight, Hernandez could look to take Wallace into deep waters and into the later rounds and then from there try to stop him. In the third title match of the evening, Spencer Roberts (4-1) takes on Daymond Bland (3-1) for the URC Flyweight Title. Roberts comes into the fight as the champion making his first title defense. He won the title back in October 2011 with a submission and has defeated 3 opponents by tapout. He is a fast starter and always looking to finish the fight so this bout should be exciting. Bland has stopped all 3 of his opponents for victories and along with a submission game, possesses strong knockout power. When the 125 lb fighters are in the cage anything can happen as these are some of the most overall skilled fighters in the sport. Look for fight of the night between Roberts and Bland.

– Saturday, May 19, 2012 10:00pm ET featuring Rumble at the Roseland 63 at the Roseland Theater, Portland, Oregon. In the main event, for the FCFF Heavyweight Title, Damion Martindale (9-5) battles undefeated Nick Biron (5-0). Biron comes into the fight the reigning heavyweight champion a title Martindale has previously held. The 265 lb title has been a hot potato for FCFF lately and there’s no telling what will happen when these two heavy hitters collide in the cage. Biron has finished 3 of his opponents by TKO and looks to make that 4 as he throws punches with bad intentions. Martindale will look to knock off the undefeated Biron and capture the title all at the same time using his grappling skills to get Biron to tap out. Martindale likes the arm triangle so if and when the fight hits the mat look for heavy punches from Biron and submissions from Martindale. In the co-main event, Jordan Hinchman (3-1) fights Jeremy Morse (6-3) for the FCFF Light Heavyweight Title. Hinchman comes into the bout holding the belt and looks to make his first title defense against Morse who has won 4 out of his last 5 fights. Morse likes to grind down and wear out his opponents and he will have to have a full tank of cardio if he is going to be able to do it to Hinchman and take his title. Hinchman is 12 years younger than Morse and has shown a quick grappling style. None of Hinchman’s 4 fights have ever gone the distance so it will be interesting to see his high risk-high reward style matched up against the very methodical and workman like style of Morse. Whichever fighter can get the pace of the fight where he wants it will be at a huge advantage inside the cage. In the third title fight of the night for the FCFF Lightweight Championship, Clint Patterson (5-4) takes on William Hall (6-2) in a rematch that is over two years in the making. Hall fights out of Team Quest and comes into the bout as champion looking to avenge an earlier loss in his career to Patterson. Patterson defeated Hall by first round armbar in 2010 and this is Hall’s opportunity to get some sort of revenge. Hall is an exciting fighter who has never had a fight go to the third round so expect him to come out guns blazing and push the pace from the opening bell. For Patterson, if he can pull off another submission win or get a victory by any means necessary, he will not only have beaten the same opponent twice which is very hard to do, but he will walk away champion. Patterson has the submission skills to win again, but Hall will also try and neutralize Patterson’s attacks with his wrestling and relentless style. This could very well be fight of the night.

UFC Returns to the Patriot Center: Korean Zombie vs. Poirier Preview

Featherweight contenders Chan Sung ‘ Korean Zombie’ Jung and Dustin
Poirier will collide this Tuesday at George Mason University’s Patriot
Center, marking the return of the power house promotional outfit to
Fairfax, VA for the second time.

Its debut took place a little over two years ago when Gray Maynard and
Nate Diaz headlined the event in a lightweight tilt won by Maynard in
somewhat of a lackluster outing. Expect much more this time around, as
both Jung and Poirier are dynamic strikers also known for their
creative submission skills.

Jung, who hails from Korea, should enjoy a bit of a home crowd
advantage considering the high Korean American population in the
Northern Virginia area. Fighting under the Zuffa brand since the WEC
days, the Korean Zombie has built a reputation as a crowd pleaser,
most notably since his infamous war against Leonard Garcia. Jung
exacted revenge on his UFC debut, becoming the first to successfully
execute Eddie Bravo’s ‘twister’ in tapping out Garcia.

In UFC 140, Jung upset former title challenger and the always durable
Mark Hominick in just seven seconds en route to earning the ‘knock out
of the night’ honors.

Poirer is another UFC featherweight addition since the acquisition of
WEC and has also climbed up the ranks without tasting defeat inside
the Octagon.

The Louisiana native is on a five fight winning streak, with two of
his last coming in by a way of submission stoppage.

It’s an interesting match-up between two aggressive combatants willing
to mix it up inside the cage. The winner could foresee a title shot in
the near future.

Joining his countryman Jung on this card is the heavy handed Dong Yi
Yang who is expected to face the Ultimate Fighter 11 participant Brad
Tavares in a three round middleweight battle. Yang was last seen
valiantly testing Court McGee before losing a decision. Tavares is
coming off the lone loss of his career in his last bout against Aaron
Simpson nearly a year ago.

Amir Sadollah, the winner of Ultimate Fighter season 7 will look to
bounce back from a disappointing loss in last August and standing in
his way is the young Jorge Lopez who will also try to get back on the
winning column. Sadollah is a Muay Thai standout who also has
dangerous ground game and should be the favorite going in against the
less experienced Las Vegas based Lopez.

Also returning to action, lightweight contender Donald Cerrone will
showcase his talent against the very tough Jeremy Stephens of Des
Moines, IA. Long time veteran Jason MacDonald of Canada will engage
in a middleweight battle against Tom Lawlor. Fellow Canadian TJ Grant
is also set for action, going against grappling specialist Carlo
Prater of Brazil. Grant was last seen at the Verizon Center in
Washington, D.C, impressively submitting Shane Roller with an armbar.

Making his UFC debut, former unbeaten four time NCAA Division III
champion, Marcus LeVesseur will take on Cody McKenzie in the
lightweight division. Levesseur is one of the best wrestlers ever to
sign with the organization and it should be interesting to see how
he’ll compete among the elites. A little known fact is that LeVesseur
is the only other wrestler besides Cael Sanderson to have won four
national collegiate without tasting defeat and also holds a high
school win over current Bellator welterweight champion Ben Askren.

First bout of the evening is slated for 5:30 PM. UFC on Fuel: Korean
Zombie vs. Poirer is scheduled to go live on air at 8:00 PM (ET).

Diaz chokes out Miller in second

Nate Diaz scored a second round choke out over Jim Miller in a scheduled three round Lightweight bout at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The Guillotine Choke came at 4:09 of round two for Diaz, 156 lbs of Stockton, CA and is now 16-7. Miller, 156 lbs from nearby Whippany, NJ is now 21-4.

Hendricks, 170 1/2 lbs of Dallas, TX is now 13-1. Koscheck, 170 1/2 lbs of Fresno, CA is now 19-6.

Alan Belcher scored a first round stoppage over Rousimar Palhares in a three round Middleweight bout.

The two traded submission attempts on the ground when Belcher turned it around and punched out Palhares with some great “Ground and Pound” work and the bout was stopped at 4:18 of round one.

Johnson, 253 lbs of San Jose, CA is now 17-5. Barry, 244 lbs of Alexandra, MN is now 7-5.

Fight fans get to witness this live as UWF has made a broadcasting deal with the GFL Combat Sports Network to air the 3-event tournament. Scheduled to compete on this stacked event include local fighters Hector Munoz (8-3)and Christopher Pecero (4-3) along with other fighters including Reynaldo Trujillo (10-7), Warren Stewart (11-16), Mike “The Greek” Bronzoulis (13-4-1) and Joseph Daily (5-3). The tournament will be divided into two divisions; eight fighters in the 155 pound division and eight fighters in the 170 pound division. Winners of the first round will advance to the semi-finals in Laredo on May 26th, with the finale in Hidalgo on June 30th. The winner of each division will receive $25,000 and will be the first official belt holders for their respective divisions of Ultimate Warrior Fighting.

– Friday, May 4, 2012 8:30pm ET featuring Showdown Fights: Uprising at the UCCU Center in Orem, UT will feature Sean “The Real OC” O’Connell versus Idaho’s own undefeated son Kip Ramos in a Light Heavyweight MAIN EVENT! O’Connell (11-4) is a local radio host and former Ultimate Fighter competitor. He took home a bittersweet “Fight of the Night” bonus in an epic battle with Trevor Carlson before a sold-out crowd at Showdown Fights: Breakout, February 24th. Fans saw an all out 3-round war, which left both competitors asking to “not” have a rematch anytime soon, for fear of their own safety. Kip Ramos is an undefeated phenom from Boise that has finished all of his fights without ever having experienced a 3rd round. Many in the industry have chronicled his meteoric rise because it rivals the path of several greats.

– Friday, May 4, 2012 10:00pm ET featuring Epic Fighting 12 at the Four Points Sheraton in San Diego, California. For the 15-bout card, Epic Fighting has collected some of the deepest local talent in the country to provide the fans of SoCal and worldwide watching live on the Internet, a great night of action packed amateur fights. In the main event, Kaiyana Rain Tan (2-1) battles Lena Hellgvist (1-1) in a women’s 115 bout. Tan has great cardio as she has gone to a decision in all 3 of her bouts, including her lone loss which was by split decision. Tan is a grinder that likes to outwork her opponents in the cage and constantly put pressure on her foes to keep up with her rapid pace. Tan will look to outstrike Hellgvist early on and then build up points from there. For Hellgvist, is coming off a win in her last fight that ended in the first round via TKO. A heavy hitter, Hellgvist will probably be the stronger of the two women in the cage. She will look to take advantage of the strength difference by landing the harder strikes and causing more damage to Tan and if the fight goes to the ground she will look to control the action on the mat and out wrestle Tan for dominant position. Both Tan and Hellgvist are very exciting fighters and this bout should be full throttle. In the co-main event, Mike Jenkins (2-0) fights Nick Home (0-0) in a lightweight matchup. Jenkins has been impressive in his 2 outings as they have both men first round stoppages, one by KO which lasted 8 seconds and one by submission. Home is an unknown so he could have the advantage in game planning as he at least knows the strengths of Jenkins, whereas Jenkins will just have to be prepared for anything and everything. These fights, more often than not turn out to be barnburners as both fighters want to go in there and mix it up and prove from the beginning that they are the dominant fighter in the cage.

– Saturday, May 5, 2012 6:00pm ET featuring South Carolina’s #1 MMA promotion, Caged Chaos 5 presents “Vendetta” at Jamil Temple in Columbia, South Carolina. In the main event, Tim “The Terror” Goodwin (5-3) faces Chris “The Constrictor” Cain (5-2) in the long awaited Cage Chaos Bantamweight Championship. Goodwin come into the fight looking to bang as 3 of his 5 wins have come via KO or TKO. Goodwin is a well-rounded fighter as he also has a slick ground game evidenced by his victory by arm triangle. Goodwin is a superstar in the MMA scene in South Carolina and looks to make a name for himself nationally by defeating Cain and becoming the new Caged Chaos 135 lb champion. Cain is on a 3-fight win streak and previously fought at lightweight, so he will be the bigger, stronger fighter in the cage come fight night. Cain likes to grind away at his opponents and push the pace stacking up rounds while controlling the fight. A strong wrestler, Cain likes to dictate where the fight goes and will look to make Goodwin fight his fight. The winner of this bout will be considered the top 135 lb fighter in the region as a whole. In the co-main event, Solon “Sharktooth” Staley (10-3) fights Ronnie “The Heat” Lawrence (3-3) for the ISKA Regional Bantamweight Championship. Staley holds titles with numerous other organizations, so he will be ready to fight in this championship bout. Staley is a strong grappler and especially likes the guillotine choke as half his wins have come from this submission alone. Staley will look to get the fight to the ground and attack Lawrence’s neck either with a guillotine or rear naked choke. For Lawrence, he fights a high reward-high risk style as evidenced by his .500 record. You never know what Lawrence will do in the ring as he can wrestle and strike so it will be interesting to see which strategy Lawrence tries to implement. The third title fight of the evening features Jason “The Nightmare” Faglier Jr. (6-0) fighting Nicholas Vecchione (2-5) with the ISKA SC Bantamweight Championship at stake. For the undefeated Faglier Jr., he already holds two titles in his young career and has only gone to a decision once, submitting his other 5 opponents. Faglier is a tremendous grappler who can beat you with a choke, armbar or any other finishing hold so look for him to try for a takedown early on. This is a career defining fight for Vecchione as a victory over Faglier Jr. could put his career on an upward swing in a hurry. Vecchione is coming off a great victory in his last fight where he scored a submission victory in the final round. With momentum at his back Vecchione believes now is the time for him to make his mark and show the crowd in Columbia that his record is very deceiving.

– Saturday, May 5, 2012 8:00pm ET featuring Elite 1 MMA “Showdown” from the Casino New Brunswick Moncton. In the main event, and a unification bout, Richard Arsenault (4-2) of Wellington, PE defends his Elite 1 MMA Welterweight Championship against tough challenger and interim champion Meneka Weva (2-3) of Moncton, NB. The two fighters have history as Arsenault defeated Weva in 2011 by rear naked choke and looks to do the same thing again and prove he is the sole champion at 170 lb. For Weva, this is a shot not only at a title, but more importantly at redemption. The first bout was close, but Arsenault did just enough to turn the tide in the middle of the bout and get Weva to tapout. Weva believes he now has the right game plan to defeat the champion. In all, only one fight between the two has ever gone to a decision. Both athletes fight with a high risk-high reward style with both fighters looking to finish the fight at all times, even if that means being in compromising positions themselves. Expect fireworks from this rematch. In the co-main event, for the vacant Elite 1 MMA Lightweight Title, Adam Hazelton (3-1) of Yarmouth, NS fights Stephen Clementi (3-1) of Elsipogtog, NB. Hazelton packs a heavy punch as all 3 of his wins have come via TKO or ref stoppage. He is a fighter that likes to bang and once he sees his opponent is in danger he pounces on him like a Great White shark. Clementi is also a fast starter and has finished all 3 of his wins by TKO or submission. The lightweights pack great power combined with devastating speed. Expect Hazelton and Clementi to be in line for “fight of the night” when the event is over.

Four Fighters, Two Bouts, One Mission; Championship Gold

Tacoma, WA (April 24, 2012) – When Julian Erosa battles Ryan Mulvihill and Jeff Hatton challenges Brandon Hempleman Saturday evening on the “CageSport XIX” card at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, WA, two title reigns will begin.

The four fighters have an outstanding combined record of 22-3 with 18 wins by stoppage, earning them the recognition as top-notch competitors. All four men also paid their dues by excelling in the octagon and partaking in grueling training camps, but that’s where the similarities end.

A submission specialist, Erosa is 6-0 with 5 wins by stoppage. The 22-year-old Yakima, WA based lightweight fought all six of his bouts under the CageSport banner and has been nothing short of spectacular thus far.

Hailing from Spokane, WA, Mulvihill’s career has seen both ups and downs. Since a disappointing 0-2 start as a professional, including a submission defeat against Erosa, Mulvihill is on a five bout winning streak. Three of his five opponents failed to make it out of the first round and he’s fresh off an impressive submission victory over CageSport favorite Chanti Johnson in February. With a solid win streak intact and momentum on his side, Mulvihill is gunning for revenge.

A dominant force, Hatton brings a perfect 6-0 record to the table. Five of his six foes tapped out in the opening round, while his other opponent was knocked out 12 seconds into the second. Hatton, who fights out of Aberdeen, WA, is one of the world’s fastest rising mixed martial artists.

Hempleman is the most-well traveled fighter of the bunch, competing in four different states during his pro career. He’s the owner of an excellent 5-1 record with three wins by submission. Unlike the other three fighters, Hempleman knows what it’s like to be a champion, as he collected the King of the Cage Bantamweight belt earlier this month by submitting David Frix in 46 seconds. The Idahoan’s lone defeat came to Chanti Johnson in 2010 and he’ll look to leave the Emerald Queen Casino as a victor this time around.

“This is going to be a night that everybody in attendance will remember for years to come,” stated promoter Brian Halquist “All four combatants have more than enough ability to headline most fight cards and their willingness to risk it all for the crowd is the reason mixed martial arts has boomed in popularity.”

The Erosa-Mulvihill lightweight title bout and Hatton-Hempleman bantamweight championship matchup are both scheduled for five rounds.

Appearing in separate undercard bouts are unbeaten welterweight Harrison Bevens, 6’6 heavyweight Richard Foster, Angel Diaz, David Courchiane, James Marohl, Coy Vombaur and Richard Steele protégé Mihai Cotruta.

Tickets for this action-packed card start at $35 and are available at the Emerald Queen Box Office or on ticketmaster.com. Doors for “CageSport XVIII” open at 6 pm and the first bell is scheduled for 7.

In a co-main event, James Pfieffer (6-0) from Kim’s Martial Arts battles Jared Zarlingo (5-2) from Wrecking Crew. Both fighters come into the bout holding titles with different organizations. Pfieffer is a grinder and likes to wear out his opponents and put them through the ringer every round. He has 4 of 6 wins by decision and it’s in large part thanks to his awesome cardio condition which allows him to take the fight to another level in the later rounds while his opponents are sucking for wind. A fight with Pfieffer is a fight his opponents remember. For Zarlingo, he is on a 3-fight win streak and looks to give Pfieffer his first loss. A well-rounder fighter, Zarlingo has wins by KO and submission and is a very different styled fighter than his opponent. This will be a clash of wills as these two athletes will butt heads in the cage as soon as the bell rings. Whoever can dictate the pace will be at a huge advantage. In a featured bout of the night, Josh Kallai (3-1) from Evolve MMA takes on Nick Browne (2-0) of Uniontown Fight Club in a lightweight scrap. Kallai looks to regroup as he suffered his first defeat in his last fight, losing a tough decision. Browne is a slick grappler who holds two submission win victories. This should be a great matchup of two, young, hungry lightweights at the beginning of their careers.

– Saturday, April 21, 2012 7:30pm ET featuring Rise of a Warrior 6 at the Havert L. Fenn Center in Fort Pierce, Florida. In the main event, IFG Champion Charles Rosa (15-2) fights Fernando Tovar (6-1) in a 155 lb contest. Rosa won the title by defeating former Champion, Chad Livingston by unanimous decision. Livingston previously defeated Tovar to win a tournament and be crowned champion so things have come full circle for Tovar who again finds himself battling for the IFG title. Rosa is a well-rounded fighter with wins by both KO and submission and holds a significant advantage in experience over the challenger. But Tovar has had plenty of time to re-tool and regroup and work on a different strategy since his last bout and fans expect to see a completely re-vamped Tovar once he steps into the cage on April 21. This is going to be a wild fight as both fighters like to bring the fight to their opponents and they should meet in the center of the cage and start throwing bombs or looking for takedowns. Expect fireworks early on. Also on the card is the IFG Welterweight Quarterfinals featuring 8 of the toughest 170 lb fighters from Florida and Georgia. Last year was a rousing success with the Lightweight Tournament and you can bet this year will be no different. Whoever finally comes out of this tournament as champion will be a force to be reckoned with in the welterweight division for anyone.

– Saturday, April 21, 2012 8:30pm ET featuring Ring of Combat with “ROC AMXII” from Schuetzen Park in North Bergen, New Jersey. This 17-bout event has another stacked lineup, something Ring of Combat has become synonymous with, as this time the amateurs are showcased and the 170 lb and 155 lb titles are on the line. ROC continues to be the linchpin of East Coast MMA and this card reiterates its dominance as the top dog in the Tri-State area. In the main event, Eddie Lenoci (5-1) battles Greg Quarantello (6-2) for the ROC Amateur Welterweight Title. Lenoci won the title in 2011 at AMXI by choke and looks to defend the belt for the first time at AMXII. All of Lenoci’s victories have come via KO or submission, and even his lone defeat has come via stoppage so expect this bout not to do to the distance. Lenoci has been very successful with his fast paced, high risk/high reward style and fighting in the main event will only sharpen Lenoci’s resolve to put on an entertaining show for the fans. For Quarantello, he too is a finisher as 5 of his 6 wins have come via KO or submission. He has experience fighting for a title, so he will not be overcome by the moment when he steps into the cage to face Lenoci. Quarantello is coming off a KO victory in his last fight too so his confidence will be at an all-time high when he squares off against the ROC Champ. Expect fireworks in this bout and the odds are somebody is getting stopped when these two young lions square off. In the co-main event, Johnathan Pecnya (5-3) fights Frank Buenafuente (4-0) for the ROC Amateur Lightweight Title. Pecnya has been a champion with another organization already so he is used to fighting in championship bouts. A versatile mixed martial artist, Pecnya can beat you on his feet or on the ground with Kos and submissions both on his resume. For the undefeated Buenafuente, this is his first shot at gold and he has proven worthy of the opportunity. Buenafuente is a grinder and likes to outwork his opponent and wear them down. This strategy has proven successful as he has won 3 of 4 fights by decision. It will be a contrast in styles when Pecnya and Buenafuente lock horns inside the cage.

mMA Events on GFL COMBAT SPORTS NETWORK

– Friday, April 13, 2012 7:30pm ET featuring Absolute Action MMA presents “Absolute Action MMA 25 – 2 Year Anniversary” emanating from Florence, Kentucky. In the main event, Andrew Fogg (7-0) fights Ryan Debelak (4-3) for the AAMMA Heavyweight Title. Fogg is the reigning and defending champion and this will be his first title defense since winning the championship in 2011 by armbar. Fogg has stopped all of his opponents either by strikes or submission holds and is the top amateur heavyweight prospect in the region. For Debelak, this fight will be a big test for him as he is going up in weight having previously fought at light heavyweight. Add to that facing an undefeated fighter in Fogg and on paper it looks like quite a challenge. But Debelak is a game fighter with heavy hands and he knows how to finish his opponent if he hurts him. Expect these two gladiators to throw caution to the wind as the cage closes and the title fight begins. In the co-main event, Justin Decker (4-1) battles Adam Fritz (2-1) for the AAMMA Bantamweight Title. Decker is dropping down from featherweight so he should be the bigger fighter come fight night. On a 4-fight win streak and with his only loss coming via a tough decision, Decker has shown a great wrestling and submission game. He is a finisher and will try to take Fritz out early. For Fritz, this is a tremendous opportunity as only 3 fights into his career he is fighting for a title. Fritz is coming off a tough decision loss in his last fight that could have gone either way, and both of his victories are by tapout (armbar and triangle choke) so this bout could prove to be a chess match on the ground.

– Friday, April 13, 2012 8:00pm ET featuring CFA 6 “Palomino VS Warfield” from the BankUnited Center on the campus of the University of Miami, Florida. In the main event, Luis “Baboon” Palomino (18-7) battles James “The Unbreakable Heavy Hitter” Warfield (19-9) in what is sure to be a grueling match as these two gladiators are skilled enough to fight for any promotion in the world. Palomino is a Bellator veteran and mixes up his striking and ground game which makes him a tough draw for any 155 lb fighter. Palomino is a fan favorite of South Florida and will have the hometown behind him as he takes on the always dangerous striker Warfield who has knocked out and submitted a who’s who list of some of the Midwest’s finest fighters. Both Palomino and Warfield like to bring the action to their opponent, so look for fireworks early from these two as they meet in the middle of the cage and let their hands go. The winner of this bout will finally get his do on the national and international scene as this bout could be on any card in North America. In the co-main event, Abe Trujillo (7-4) fights James Edson Berto (15-8-1) in a lightweight contenders match. Trujillo is on a two-fight win streak and looks to continue that against Berto. Berto will be a huge step up in competition for Trujillo though and that is something he is going to have to deal with right at the beginning of the fight as Berto is relentless in his attacks. The Elite XC veteran Berto, lost a tough decision to main eventer Palomino and a convincing win here could put him right back in title contention. For Trujillo, a win over the experienced Berto will make fans and promoters alike take notice of the rising prospect and finally give him the respect he feels he already deserves. Both competitors will have their backs against the wall in this fight and do everything in their power to make a convincing statement at their opponent’s expense. Don’t blink.

– Friday, April 13, 2012 11:00pm ET featuring Ultimate Reno Combat 32 from the Grand Sierra Resort & Casino. Reno, Nevada. 12 bouts scheduled for this event. The #1 rated amateur event in the Nation! Come see tough local favorite Oscar Ramirez, always exciting Kathryn Davis, Sinjen Smith, Cedric Jackson and beautiful ring girl Paige Vanzant makes her long awaited MMA debut!!!

– Saturday, April 14, 2012 10:00pm ET featuring Armageddon Fighting Championships, AFC 8 – “Vengeance” at the Bear Mountain Arena in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. In the main event, Corey “The Hatchet” Gower (3-1) battles Diego Wilson (5-1) in a bantamweight scrap. Gower is known for being a well-rounded fighter as he has finished fights on his feet and on the ground. A true bantamweight, Gower is always full of energy when the opening bell rings and has great cardio to go three full rounds. That might be his advantage in the fight. For Wilson, he is definitely a grappling expert as 4 of his 5 wins have come via submission (the 5th came via TKO) and is someone who likes to put immediate pressure on his opponent. The only time Wilson has ever gone to decision is when he suffered his only defeat, a tough decision loss for a title. Wilson will look to correct that mistake and stop Gower before the end of the fight. If Gower can withstand Wilson’s initial onslaught he might be able to wind down his opponent and get a decision or even a late stoppage. This should be a barnburner of a main event. In the co-main event, Karl “The Viking” Bergen (5-0) fights Adam Smith (3-0) in a welterweight tilt. The undefeated Bergen likes to do some fancy transitions on the ground to set up a kimura lock, something he has finished multiple fights with, while Smith likes to utilize the rear naked choke, a hold that has finished more than one fight for him. This could be a grappling classic from these two Canadians, or the ground games could cancel themselves out and it could be a wild striking matchup. Either way, somebody is getting their first loss in this battle of undefeated fighters.

Championship Doubleheader headlines “CageSport XIX”!

Tacoma, WA (April 5, 2012) – Halquist Productions returns to the Emerald Queen Casino for “CageSport XIX” Saturday, April 28.

Tickets for this action-packed card start at $35 and are available at the Emerald Queen Box Office or on ticketmaster.com.

In the main event of the evening, unbeaten lightweight and submission specialist Julian Erosa of Yakima, WA puts his 6-0 record on the line when he battles grizzled Spokane, WA based veteran Ryan Mulvihill in a five round bout for the vacant CageSport Lightweight title. Both Erosa and Mulvihill scored impressive submission victories on the last CageSport card in February, but will have to take their game to the next level to claim the championship.

Co-headlining is the CageSport Bantamweight Championship fight between Aberdeen, WA’s favorite son Jeff Hatton, 6-0, and former Fight Night champion Omar Avelar of Olympia, WA. Hatton, a top-notch prospect, scored first round submissions in five of his bouts, while Avelar’s been victorious in his last two appearances on CageSport cards.

The Hatton-Avelar contest is also scheduled for five rounds.

“This title doubleheader is going to be something special,” said promoter Brian Halquist, CEO of Halquist Productions. “We’ve got some great fighters on this card and every ticketholder will get more than their money’s worth!”

Undefeated prospects Harrison Bevens and Austin Springer see action in separate bouts, while heavyweights Richard Foster and Mike Riddell are set to slug it out. Three additional undercard bouts featuring local talent will also take place.

Friday, April 6, 2012 8:00pm ET featuring Spartan Fighting Championship 13 – The Arrival at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena in Huntington, West Virginia. In the main event, Cornelius Godfrey (4-0) fights BJ Ferguson Jr. (7-2) for the vacant Spartan Fighting Championship Bantamweight Title. Both fighters are highly respected athletes and well-rounded mixed martial artists. Godfrey has never went to a decision, finishing all of his opponents inside of two rounds, usually with blistering punches but Ferguson Jr. is a different type of caliber of fighter than Godfrey has ever faced. Ferguson Jr. is a veteran of TUF 14 and Bellator, and relies on his grappling skills to get him through most fights, particularly the armbar which has proven to be quite a weapon for the Louisville, Kentucky fighter as he has finished four opponents with the move. This is a first-rate main event and the victor will not only become a new champion, but can lay claim as the best 135 lb fighter in the Southern regional promotions. In a featured match, Brandon Demastes (0-1) battles Augusta “Ice Ice Baby” Tindall (0-1) in a welterweight battle. Both fighters are looking for their first win in a relatively new career so this bout is very important for both gladiators. It will bring the winnerâ??s record to .500 and get him on the right track. Demastes showed great submissions as an amateur and will probably look to put Tindall on his back and work an armbar or choke to finish the fight. For Tindall, he likes to wear his opponents down and take them into later rounds where he can let his hands go with bad intentions. This bout might be a classic matchup of grappler versus striker if the two fighters stay true to their past history.

– Saturday, April 7, 2012 7:00pm ET featuring Dead Serious 3 from the Rahway Rec Center in Rahway, New Jersey. In the main event, Chris Sladky (3-0) fights Mark Cugliari (2-1) for the Dead Serious Lightweight Title. Sladky won the belt in December with a first round submission and looks to defend his championship for the first time with the same results. Sladky has won two fights by rear naked choke, proving that he is an active grapple that once things hit the mat he goes for the win. For Cugliari, who is coming off of a submission victory (guillotine) in his last bout, he is more than willing to play the grappling game with Sladky. With two submission specialists, this title bout could turn into a slugfest as sometimes grapplers try to throw haymakers if they are facing another grappler. In the co-main event, undefeated Shane Burgos (4-0) battles RJ Starace (3-4) in a featherweight showdown. Burgos has shown that he has the cardio conditioning to win a fight on decision, and he also has a deadly submission game to go along with strong stamina. Starace fought for the Dead Serious Featherweight Title in his last fight, suffering a tough loss in round three. He will look back to get on his winning ways with a victory over the undefeated Burgos. The winner of this bout will be at the front of the line for a future 145 lb title shot with Dead Serious, so there is a lot riding on this defacto #1 Contender match.

– Saturday, April 7, 2012 9:00pm ET featuring Total Mayhem presents “We’re Back II” LIVE from West Haven, Utah. In the main event, “Disco” Dave Foley (3-4-1) battles Steve “Razor” Sharp (28-14) in a battle of Utah’s finest lightweights. Foley is a Utah mainstay in the MMA scene and looks to rebound from his last fight, a tough decision loss at Total Mayhem “Natural Disaster”. Foley is one of the most exciting fighters around as only two of his bouts have ever gone to decision and he has finished all three of his victories via submission. Sharp has tons more experience leading up to the fight and is even more of a veteran of the Utah fight community than Foley as Sharp has fought over a dozen times in his native Utah. Sharp is coming off a submission victory and will look to roll that up into two against Foley. This bout should be a hotly contest fight as both fighters have big followings in Utah and want to make their fans proud. On paper, Sharp has a huge edge when it comes to cage time, so if Foley can pull off the victory it will be a semi-upset. It will also get his fighting record to .500 and open up new opportunities for him. For Sharp, if he is able to look impressive in victory he might be getting a call up to a Zuffa brand or even Bellator.

xfwc – the untamed 2 Live IPPV on GFL

Anaheim, California – Extreme Fighters World Championship is back with “The Untamed 2” on Friday, May 30 at The Grove of Anaheim, California. This is the debut event for EFWC on GFL.tv and the organization looks to make a splash in a big way with a stacked card and a hotly anticipated main event. “The Untamed 2” will no doubt build on the growing momentum of high level events that EFWC presents.

In the main event, Antonio McKee (27-4-2) fights Chad Dietmeyer (8-1) in a lightweight scrap. McKee is a former UFC veteran, a former champion with MFC and an IFL standout. There is not a better fighter in the game that can control a fight and take it to the ground and keep it on the ground like McKee. McKee went on an 8 year undefeated streak and looks to continue his two-fight streak he is currently riding. For Dietmeyer, this will be a huge step up in competition and with it comes a huge career opportunity. Dietmeyer has fought on the Arizona circuit for some time, grabbing regional titles and a victory over the vaunted McKee would do wonders for his future. Expect McKee to do what he does best and try to get the fight to the ground early and keep it there. Dietmeyer needs to make McKee pay when he comes in for a takedown, a tall order, and then if he finds himself on the bottom work submission after submission.

In the co-main event, Jesse Juarez (15-5) takes on Leonardo Silva. For the Strikeforce and Bellator vet, Juarez this is another chance to get on the radar of the UFC. Juarez is a strong wrestler, especially as a welterweight, and will no doubt try and control the bout and get Silva on his back. For Silva, this could be a make or break fight as he has suffered back to back losses, so expect the Strikeforce and Bellator veteran to come out guns blazing, leaving nothing to chance. This is an important fight for both fighters for very different reasons so that is great news to the fans. Expect fireworks of some kind early on in this bout.

Don’t miss this exciting card. Extreme Fighters World Championship brings you another fully loaded card with “The Untamed 2”. Watch the hottest SoCal fighters compete in the cage. Order this event now, exclusively through the GFL Combat Sport Network at GFL.tv.

mma Events on GFL COMBAT SPORTS NETWORK

– Friday, March 23, 2012 8:00pm ET featuring Absolute Action MMA 24 from the Shimmers Ballroom in Covington, Kentucky. In the main event, Brittany Skelton (5-3) will fight for the AAMMA Lightweight Title. His opponent has not been named yet, as several fighters have fallen through at the last second, but nevertheless, AAMMA will find a suitable opponent for Skelton and the two will throwdown in the cage for the 155 lb championship. Skelton is a tough matchup for anybody as he is very quick with his punches and takedowns and poses a problem for most opponents because of his superior cardio conditioning. But Skelton will be at a disadvantage as he will have little time to game plan for his eventual opponent so once he steps in the cage he will be going off of pure fighting instinct and just have to go with the flow. Sometimes matches that are put together at the last minute can be the most exciting on the card because the fighters don’t get bogged down with a detailed strategy. They just fight. Expect this bout to just be about fighting as whoever wins walks away a champion. In the co-main event, Brian Francisco (5-1) battles Deric “The Manimal” Reece (4-8) in what could be a #1 Contender’s Match for the Lightweight belt. Francisco is a fast starter who packs a heavy punch as all 5 of his wins have come via KO in the first round. He will be taking on his toughest opponent to date in Reece, but don’t expect that to curtail Francisco’s furious pace. Reece has been on a tough skid as of late and for him to get back on the right track he will have to do what he knows best and that’s unloading punches, as all 4 of his wins have come by submission, due to strikes. Not many people wanted to fight Francisco, but Reece stepped up to the plate and if he can pull the mild upset here, he will be right back in the title hunt for the AAMMA Lightweight strap.

– Friday, March 23, 2012 10:00pm ET featuring Epic Fighting 11 Four Points Sheraton in San Diego, California. In the main event, Gibran Alvarez (4-1) out of Victory MMA takes on Jason Mangaroni (2-0) from Shark Tank MMA in a cruiserweight battle. Alvarez has tremendous cardio for a cruiserweight as all 5 of his bouts have gone the distance. Alvarez likes to wear out his opponents and push the pace throughout. A strong wrestling background allows Alvarez to usually dictate where the fight goes and he will look to take down Mangaroni in this bout from the early going. For the undefeated Mangaroni, he is the epitome of a fast starter as both his victories have come within the first round, one by KO and the other via submission. Mangaroni has devastating power in both hands and is a strong grappler always looking to finish fights. Alvarez will try to stifle Mangaroni’s attacks by using superior control and positioning on the ground. This will be a classic battle of wills as whoever can control the action in the cage and where the fight goes will have a distinct advantage. In other action, Daniel Valdez (0-3) fights Francisco Castro (5-4) in a featherweight bout. Valdez is coming off a tough loss in his last fight in which he suffered a TKO loss, but his other two defeats came by way of razor close decisions. You have to respect Valdez and his continued determination to always bring it with every fight. Castro is coming off of a tough loss in the California State Finals back in December and before that bout was on a 4-fight winning streak. Castro is a cage general and controls the pace of the action very well, as he grinds out his opponents for unanimous decisions. He will look to do the same against Valdez. Both fighters have proven they can go the distance and this should be a fight where there is constant action between the two 145 lb fighters.

– Friday, March 23, 2012 11:00pm ET featuring Ultimate Reno Combat presents Fight Factory at The Knit!. Reno, Nevada. Michael O’Leary battles Joe McGann in the main event that is a matchup of two of the top featherweights in the West! O’Leary and McGann are both capable of having fight of the night because of their unique, fast-paced style and this bout should be nonstop action from the opening bell. This is also an important bout because it is a #1 Contender’s match and will set up a future shot at the 145 lb title down the line for the winner. In the co-main event, Melvin Washington fights William “Will” Ruppert in the debut fight for both lightweights. For Washington and Ruppert it’s either sink or swim in this bout.

– Saturday, March 24, 2012 6:30pm ET featuring NAAFS – Combat Challenge 19 at Chapparells Community Center in Akron, Ohio. The Ohio-based NAAFS has been a proving ground for tons of MMA fighters who have made their way to the UFC and Strikeforce. NAAFS continues to promote the Midwest’s premier up and coming fighters and Combat Challenge 19 will only add to NAAFS’ rich history. In the main event, Josh Lasich (3-0) battles Dave Lastafka (6-0). In a battle of unbeatens, something has to break. Lasich is a grappling wizard winning all 3 of his fights by submission (2 in the NAAFS cage). He has also managed to stay healthy through it all as he has already fought once this year. Lastafka is also a NAAFS veteran winning 4 times with the organization. Lastafka also has an unbreakable ground game mixed with a world class striking game as he has stopped 5 of his 6 opponents. Lastafka is the naturally bigger fighter, so expect him to use his strength to try and wear Lasich out on the ground. Lasich should have the advantage in cardio though so it will be interesting to see the strategy in this bout and who is able to impose their will. Nothing is assured in fighting, but this bout is about as close as you can get to a can’t miss fight. The winner will set himself up as one of the rising stars of MMA. In the co-main event, Anthony Holder (3-3) takes on Adib Nour (2-0) in a heavyweight scrap. Holder has won his last 3 fights all in round one. He swings for the fences and when he connects, it usually lights out for his opponents. Nour is just as deadly with his fists as he has finished his two opponents in the first round also, his last fight only lasting 16 seconds. Don’t blink when these two grizzly bears get in the cage as this fight could well be over before the announcer has time to take his seat outside of the cage. Both fighters don’t mess around and there will be very little if any feeling out process. Expect fireworks and expect them early.

– Saturday, March 24, 2012 8:30m ET featuring SportFight X from the Von Braun Center. Huntsville, Alabama. The Von Braun Center will house fans as they witness the first professional fight sanctioned by the Alabama Athletic Commission. This will be the promotions first stop in Alabama and promises to deliver an event matched by none as they have in other states prior to Alabama becoming sanctioned. The main event will feature a professional debut with two fighters who have had an outstanding amateur career as Stephen Wilhite of Cullman, AL vs Luke Neyland of Marietta, GA. Both fighters have fought under the SportFight X banner and scored impressive wins. The 27 year old Wilhite is a well rounded fighter who represents Triad Martial Arts and trains under Johnny Lee Smith. Wilhite is a tough character and afraid of no competitor. Last year at SportFight X “Middle Tennessee Mayhem” he was faced with a gut wrenching dilemma as his opponent of over 45 days had a fainting incident while being examined for a pre-fight medical exam. This occurred about one hour prior to the show leaving Wilhite without an opponent for a short period. Wilhite was offered a one hour notice fight replacement against a 15 pound heavier opponent Greg Taylor from IMA. What began as a sad night for Stephen turned out to be a bad night for Taylor as Wilhite hammered out a win in the first round. Neyland is a 23 year old freestyle fighting product of X3 Sports in Atlanta, Georgia training under Tony Tucci. Neyland has taken tough fights throughout amateur career. In two of his last four fights Neyland has been victorious by arm submission in the first round and at less than the two minute mark.

MMA / Muay Thai Events on GFL Combat Sports Network

Friday, March 16, 2012 7:30pm ET featuring “Muay Thai at the Mecca” presented by Take-On productions at Madison Square Garden, New York City, NY. One of the most anticipated fights of 2012 will headline the 24 bout card when Rigel “Cool Heart” Balsamico (Cool Hearts Muay Thai) takes on UFC veteran Ryan “The Lion” Madigan (Evolve MMA). Balsamico, a native of Ireland, is a veteran of 30 professional Muay Thai fights (24-6, 11 KO’s). He lived, trained, and fought out of Thailand for many years before coming back to the United States to open his Muay Thai gym in Philadelphia. Madigan is a seasoned combat sports veteran with UFC experience, having fought at UFC 96 in 2009. Now focusing his professional career on Muay Thai kickboxing, he holds a professional record of 26-6. An explosive fight card also includes the best professional and amateur Muay Thai fighters. The Finals of the 8-man “Rising Stars” Lightweight Tournament will feature Andrilo Juarez (3-0; American Killer Bees) vs. Freddy Cheung (2-1; Sitan NY) and Prairie Rugilo (3-1, 1KO, Girl Fight MMA), the only amateur female to ever score a KO in the TaKe On ring will face the very tough Angie Babel (3-0, Five Points Academy).

– Friday, March 16, 2012 9:00pm ET featuring Cutthroat MMA at the Congress Theater, Chicago, Ill. This will be a stacked card that will feature the quarter finals for the vacant Cutthroat Bantamweight Championship. The title is now vacant, with Jake Nauracy making his professional debut on March 9th for Bellator. In the first bout, it will be the return of Manny Camacho, who will be facing Anthony Guerrero. The Full Mount MMA fighter has recently taken time off from the sport, but has found that motivation to get back in the cage. He will be facing CUMMATA’s Anthony Guerrero, who looks to take advantage of Camacho’s layoff. The second quarter final match up will feature Team No Ego’s Jerald Williams and the powerful striker Sean Gee. Gee is coming off a tough loss to Chuck Olena but this was at 145 pounds and he will certainly be a force to be reckoned with in this tournament. Can the strong wrestling of Williams negate the power punches of Gee? Come out to the Congress Theater and find out who will advance in this exciting tournament.

– Friday, March 16, 2012 9:00pm ET featuring School Of Hard Knocks 22 at the Century Casino, Calgary, AB, Canada.

– Saturday, March 17, 2012 4:00am ET featuring DARE 2/2012 at Club Insomnia Bangkok, Thailand. DARE features both Thai and International fighters who compete to become the MMA Champions of Thailand and the first winners of the DARE Grand Bonus of 1 Million Dollars. The 7 fight card includes: “THE GAME – Arnaud Lepont and HAJA – Krysztof Hajtalowicz” This fight was initially scheduled to take place at DARE 1/12 in January but, to the fury of The Game, Haja pulled out citing a rib injury. These are two of the best known fighters in Thailand, Haja, from Poland, is a BJJ expert with a perfect 3-0 record whereas The Game, from France, is currently 7-1 and riding a four fight win streak. At DARE 2/11 ONE SHIN – Shannon Wiratchai defeated another Thai fighter DK Panjabutra by unanimous decision, putting a beating on the experienced Judoka to progress to the DARE tournament quarter finals. In what will be the ultimate grudge match he has been scheduled to face DK’s brother TDR – Tondamrong Panjabutra, who progressed to the quarter finals courtesy of a second round stoppage win over EZ2DJ – Teerapak Saetae. Family pride will be at stake for TDR who is determined to gain vengeance for his brother and has said he won’t be happy with a decision win over One Shin, he wants to knock him out.

– Saturday, March 17, 2012 8:30m ET featuring World Combat Series 3 at the famous World Gym Vista, California. The main event pits lightweights, Oscar Gonzalez (5-2) out of Victory MMA against Trevor Gray (2-0) from USSD. Gonzalez is on a 2-fight winning streak with both victories coming via submission. In fact, all of Gonzalez’ 5 wins have come via stoppage (either KO or submission). The undefeated Gray already holds a submission win in 2012 and the San Clemente fighter looks to stay very active this year as he makes his way up through the California amateur ranks. A victory over Gonzalez would propel Gray’s career to the next level and make him a popular commodity with the Southern California MMA scene. But that’s easier said than done as Gonzalez is a veteran of more than double the fights and has fought much stiffer competition during his career. Look for these two 155 lb fighters to come out blazing and looking for opportunities to end the fight via KO or submission throughout the entire fight. This should be a barnburner. The co-main event features a pair of bantamweights as Victory MMA’s Coby Hollier (1-2-0-1) fights Lightning MMA’s Dara Ahmadnia (1-0). Hollier has an odd record as his first bout ended in a no contest. Since then, he has went to decision 3 times, losing two hard fought fights, including one split decision. Hollier looks to take it out of the judges’ hands on March 17 and finish Ahmadnia before the final bell. Ahmadnia is very new to MMA and had his only fight 10 month ago, a submission victory. Since that time, Ahmadnia has been honing and refining his skills and will be a completely new fighter when he shows up in the cage against Hollier. With both fighters having something to prove, don’t blink as these two 145 lb gladiators will look to steal the show from the get go.

– Saturday, March 17, 2012 9:00pm ET featuring ROC AMXII from the Rahway Recreation Center in Rahway, New Jersey. In the main event, Eddie Lenoci (5-1) battles Rick Guerrieri (0-0) for the ROC Amateur Welterweight Title. For Guerrieri, he makes his debut after a successful career as an amateur wrestler. After wrestling collegiately for West Virginia, Guerrieri looks to transition into MMA and he has a tough fight on his hands in his first outing. But Guerrieri has a track record of dominating his wrestling matches with a strong takedown and relentless pressure. If he can transfer that skillset over to MMA he will be a tough draw for any fighter. In other action, Scott Krampetz (4-4) takes on Ronnie Torres (2-2) in a featherweight showdown. Krampetz is suffered back to back losses, but looks to get back on the winning streak and eventually title show at 145 lb. Torres is coming off a hard fought decision win and goes for two in a row at ROC AMXII. This bout is where both men are looking to take the next step in their fight careers, but at the other’s expense. Krampetz and Torres should be in line for fight of the night as both men have everything to prove.

full contact fighting FEDERATION (fcff) Live IPPV on GFL

Portland, OR – On Saturday, March 10th 2012 the Full Contact Fighting Federation (FCFF) is back in Portland, OR for Rumble @ The Roseland 62. The FCFF is bringing three outstanding Title Fights including the return of Josh Bartlett the 185-pound FCFF Champion and FCFF veteran Heavyweight fighter: Damion Martindale. The FCFF is still buzzing off the excitement of their January event, in which the FCFF celebrated 10 years in business with a blowout, sellout event. The FCFF is the premiere cage fighting organization in the Northwest; Inside MMA (television show) coined the FCFF the as the “Golden Gloves of MMA.” Fighters are making their way from four states to compete on March 10th at Rumble @ The Roseland 62. Do not miss it! Tickets are on sale at Tickets West (Safeway) and at the door of the Roseland Theater starting at 6pm with the fights beginning at 7pm.

The Main Event at Rumble @ The Roseland 62 is the Middleweight 185-pound Championship Fight. The current FCFF Champion and fan favorite John Bartlett of 503WCJJ returns after almost a one year break from FCFF competition. He last fought at Rumble at the Roseland 58 on July 16th, 2011. There he defeated the ultra tough Josh Hitsman via an impressive TKO due to strikes in the second round. On March 10th he may face his toughest competition to date: Bryson French. French was the “Fighter to Watch in 2012” from the FCFF’s Annual Hall of Fame and is taking on the Champ. French has a dominating physique, work ethic and skill set. French wants to upgrade the Middleweight Superfight belt he earned at Rumble @ the Roseland 60 on December 3rd 2011 by defeating top contender Nathan Allen via crowd stopping knockout in round number one, to the 185-pound Championship belt. “This main event brings a proven champ against the top young talent in the FCFF. It either cements John’s position as the undisputed Champ or ushers in a new era for Bryson. Our fans are excited to see this match up,” said Kevin Keeney FCFF owner and matchmaker.

The Heavyweight Superfight brings Darron O’Donnell (7-1) back to the cage from January’s epic anniversary event. O’Donnell suffered his first-EVER loss and wants to prove himself against FCFF veteran Damion Martindale. Martindale, a past two-time FCFF Heavyweight Champion is back and more ready than ever to take back his former dominate position in the FCFF. These two heavy-hitters will put on a great fight. The majority of O’Donnell’s seven victories have been via knockout in the Midtown, Rouge Warrior and Alive MMA’s fight productions. O’Donnell and Martindale’s focus is on the FCFF Belt. “I want to be the best pound-for-pound Heavyweight in Oregon,” says O’Donnell. Martindale has a laundry list of accomplishments in collegiate wrestling, MMA and a stellar personality to match. His most highlighted wrestling match comes from a tournament in 1997 where he beat Brock Lesner in a match. For more info contact the fighters directly: Darron O’Donnell darronistall@yahoo.com 541-450-0858.

The 145-pound interim Title Fight features rising star out of Scappoose, Oregon: Travis Sue. Just like Heavyweight Superfight contender Darron O’Donnell, Sue was part of the January Anniversary show last month. Sue had a “Fight of the Night” first round knockout victory against Chris Gillespie in only 48 seconds. This is very significant as Gillespie was also climbing the division ranks seeking the Title belt. Sue will bring an undefeated record of 4-0 to the cage on March 10th to face Damon Jordon of Reality Combat.

Brazil’s top MMA promotion will air live on the GFL Combat Sports Network (http://www.gfl.tv ) at 6:00 pm EST. The show will be available to viewers worldwide (except or Brazil) via the Internet as well as via their IPTV devices (Roku, Boxee, Popcorn Box) and via mobile devices (iPhone/iPad, Droid and others)

The card will be rounded out with seven additonal bouts pitting some of the best up-and-coming fighters in Brazil today.

“I’m really excited to showcase so many top Brazilian athletes to the U.S., and to the world”, said Andre Pederneiras, President of Shooto South America and head of Rio’s Nova Uniao camp, the most respected team of fighters in Brazil and one of the best in the world.

Now fight fans get to see the next crop of future champions live, from the birthplace of MMA.” Among the fighters to come from Pederneiras’ training are UFC athletes Jose Aldo, Renan Barao, Ronny Markes and Luis Eduardo Beição.
